The Indo-West Pacific gobiid genus Taenioides Lacépède is further defined and one of the constituent species of the genus, T. purpurascens (De Vis 1884), is redescribed. Taenioides purpurascens is known only from the southeast coast of Australia and is compared to other species in the genus: T. anguillaris, distributed from India northeastward to China, and Japan, and southward to Australia; T. gracilis, distributed along the east coast of Africa and Madagascar to India, northeastward to Japan and southward to Australia; T. kentalleni, known only from Saudi Arabia and Japan; and T. snyderi, known only from southern Japan. Taenioides purpurascens is unique within the genus in having: the fewest dorsal-fin elements (41?44 vs. 48?72); the fewest anal-fin elements (34?38 vs. 41?65); the fewest vertebrae (27 vs. 28?45); and a 2-4-2 arrangement of the barbels on the ventral surface of the head (vs. 2-2-2, 2-3-2, or 2-4-2-2). In morphometric comparisons with these other species, T. purpurascens is shown to have the shortest and deepest body. A key to these species is provided.  相似文献

This paper reports on a new species of Trichomycterus from the Rio Doce basin. Unusually for new taxa in the genus during the past few decades, the new species is not narrowly endemic but instead widely distributed in its major drainage, the Rio Doce. The species has been collected and deposited in scientific collections for some years, but has been systematically misidentified as the more abundant Trichomycterus immaculatus or, to a lesser degree, as other morphologically similar species from south-eastern Brazil such as T. nigricans and T. pradensis. A combination of several morphological characteristics, such as vertebral number, pectoral-fin ray counts, pigmentation pattern and barcoding distance, were iteratively used and unambiguously distinguish the new species from all congeners. The present case reveals a pattern of diversity-discovery in which rare and narrowly endemic morphologically conspicuous species are discovered and described before visually inconspicuous taxa, even when the latter are more abundant and widespread. The morphological similarities among south-eastern Brazilian species with a uniform dark-grey color serve as basis for a brief discussion about the concepts of cryptic and pseudo-cryptic species in Trichomycterus and their consequences for potentially hidden diversity in the genus.  相似文献

Tectaria Cav. is a large fern genus of ca. 150 species distributed in the tropic and subtropic regions of the world, of which 27 species and two varieties occur in China. These species are mostly distributed in the southern part to the Yangtze River, mainly concentrated in Yunnan, only two species spreading northwards to Sichuan located in the northern part to the Yangtze River. Based on examination of specimens deposited in KUN and PE, many of which are recent collections, a new species is described, one species and one variety are recognized as new records for China, one species as new record for Yunnan, one species as new record for Guizhou, and four specific names, i. e., T. cosimilis Ching et C. H. Wang, T. decurrenti-alata Ching et C. H. Wang, T. fengii Ching et C. H. Wang, T. simaoensis Ching et C. H. Wang are reduced to synonymies. As a re-suit, 22 species and two varieties are recognized in the genus Tectaria from Yunnan.  相似文献

The present paper deals with taxonomic studies on the genera Lathraea Linn. and Christisonia Gard. (Orobanchaceae) in China. In the genus Lathraea, only a single species in China, L. japonica Miq., is recongnized in the paper. It occurs in southern Shaanxi, southern Gansu, southeastern Sichuan, northern Guizhou and northern Guangdong, also in Japan. L. miqueliana Franch. et Sav., L. chinfushanica Hu et Tang and L. japonica Miq. var. miqueliana (Franch. et Sav.) Ohwi are treated as new synonyms of L. japonica Miq. in this paper. In the genus Christisonia, the most of collections from China, which were identified as C. sinensis G. Beck before, are treated as a new synonym of C. hookeri C. B. Clarke. A few collections of this genus from China, which were mistakenly described as Gleadovia lepoense Hu snd G. kwangtungense Hu, should be transferred to Christisonia hookeri C. B. Clarke. It is distributed in southeastern and south China, westwards to the Himalayas.  相似文献

Nine strains of a new Torulaspora species were isolated from natural samples collected in Japan and Thailand including one strain obtained from a leaf of Rhizophora stylosa (NBRC 11061T), one strain from soil (NBRC 11062), six strains from mosses (ST-14, ST-266, ST-510, ST-511, ST-513 and ST-581) and one strain from sediment in mangrove forest (RV-51). On the basis of morphological, biochemical, physiological and chemotaxonomic characteristics, and the sequence analyses of the D1/D2 domain of the large subunit (LSU) rRNA gene and the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) (ITS1-5.8S rRNA gene-ITS2) region, the nine strains were found to represent a single novel species of the genus Torulaspora, which were named Torulaspora maleeae sp. nov. The type strain is NBRC 11061T (BCC 25515T=CBS 10694T). In the phylogenetic trees based on the sequences of the D1/D2 domain of the LSU rRNA gene, T. maleeae showed a close relationship with the five recognized species of the genus Torulaspora, Torulaspora delbrueckii, Torulaspora franciscae, Torulaspora globosa, Torulaspora microellipsoides and Torulaspora pretoriensis. Torulaspora maleeae differed from the five recognized species of the genus Torulaspora by six to 12 nucleotide substitutions (1.1-2.1%) in the D1/D2 domain of the LSU rRNA gene and by 6.4-11.7% nucleotide substitutions in the ITS (ITS1-5.8S rRNA gene-ITS2) region.  相似文献

Phylogenetic analyses were conducted using complete nucleotide sequences of the D-loop in the mitochondrial genome of Mola specimens, collected mainly in Japanese waters, to clarify the genetic features and distribution patterns of Mola sunfishes. Two significantly distinct groups (designated A and B) were present in the genus, with a considerable net nucleotide sequence divergence between the two (8.4%). The two groups occurred sympatrically around the Japanese coast, as previously suggested by Sagara et al. (2005). Group A occurred mostly on the Pacific coast of eastern Japan, while group B was widely distributed along the Kuroshio Current, strongly suggesting different migration routes for each group. The morphological characteristics of the two group specimens were differentiated via the head bump, body proportions and shape of the clavus. Through the addition of Mola sequence data taken from outside Japan to our phylogenetic analyses, three independent groups, including groups A and B, were found, each with a wide geographical distribution, which suggests the presence of at least three independent species within the genus Mola.  相似文献

Cuticular hydrocarbons and morphological features were compared among 80 Formica japonica colonies collected in Japan. Although a few morphological differences were found in workers among the colonies, four different types of cuticular hydrocarbon composition were observed. This was supported by a principal component analysis. We further compared the cuticular hydrocarbons among a total of approximately 400 F. japonica colonies, and categorized the hydrocarbon components into four types based on the result of discriminant analyses for the first 80 colonies. Type 1 was observed in colonies mainly collected in southern Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu. Types 2, 3, and 4 were from colonies with primary collections in Southern Honshu, central and Pacific coast northern Honshu, and the Sea of Japan coasts of northern Honshu and Hokkaido, respectively. The occurrence of four distinct types of CHC composition suggests that the colonies that produce them are separate species.  相似文献

The fern genus Tectaria (Tectariaceae) Cav. is morphologically diverse and difficult in terms of recognizing species and species groups. To infer the systematic positions of some species and identity-unknown collections with special morphological characters, we undertook phylogenetic analyses based on sequences of five plastid regions (atpB, ndhF + ndhF-trnL, rbcL, rps16-matK + matK, and trnL-F). Three analysis methods (maximum parsimony, maximum likelihood, and Bayesian inference) were used to reconstruct the phylogeny of Tectaria. The most surprising result is that T. menyanthidis (C. Presl) Copel., T. ternata (Baker) Copel., and T. variabilis Tardieu & Ching are revealed to represent a distinct lineage from Tectaria, which should be called Polydictyum C. Presl, and is supported as sister to Pteridrys C. Chr. & Ching. Other accessions of Tectaria are well resolved into four major clades, which is consistent with the results of previous studies. Of the four clades, Clade II (T. subtriphylla (Hook. & Arn.) Copel. group) is unpredictable, with morphologically very diverse species clustered there, and is supposed to be a minor evolutionary line within Tectaria in the Old World. In addition, the position of the climbing genus Arthropteris J. Sm. and the utility of molecular data in recognizing species of Tectaria are briefly discussed. As a conclusion, we formally reinstate the genus Polydictyum by providing diagnostic characters, key to species, nomenclature, and information of detailed distribution and habitat for the currently known three species.  相似文献

Ganoderma is a genus of medicinally and economically important mushrooms in the family Ganodermataceae. Ganoderma species are popular medicinal mushrooms and their health benefits are well-documented. Ganoderma is a cosmopolitan genus that is widely distributed in both tropical and temperate regions. This genus is characterized by its unique laccate or non-laccate species with double-walled basidiospores. Here, we report on eight collections of G. gibbosum collected during surveys in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China. The specimens are described and illustrated based on macro- and micro-morphological characteristics. Total DNA of the eight G. gibbosum strains were extracted using the Biospin Fungal Extraction Kit following manufacturer protocol. Amplification of the Internal Transcribed Spacer (nrITS) region was carried out using ITS5/ITS4 primers and LROR/LR5 for the nuclear ribosomal large subunit 28S rDNA gene (LSU). Phylogenetic analysis with closely related species to G. gibbosum showed that all eight collections grouped with G. gibbosum with 100% bootstrap support. Phylogenetic similarity and morphological variations within the eight collections of G. gibbosum are discussed.  相似文献

Results of phylogenetic analysis based on 34 morphological characters of 24 species of 11 genera of Hopliinae from Europe, Japan, South Africa, Madagascar, North and Central America, indicates that the genus Hoplia is a monophyletic group with species distributed in Europe, Japan and America. Based in this analysis the Asiatic genus Ectinohoplia is the closest relative of the genus Hoplia, and the South American genus Barybas (Melolonthinae: Macrodactylini) is the sister group of Hopliinae.  相似文献

Farm ponds, a valued habitat for freshwater organisms, are being negatively affected by the recent changes in the environment as well as anthropological activities. In these ponds, biodiversity researchers have tended to focus on species that prefer natural habitats and/or can be identified based on morphological characters. In contrast, this study focused on the insect family Chironomidae, which is widely distributed from clear to polluted waters of ponds, but is hard to identify morphologically as an aquatic larva. We adopted DNA barcoding and molecular species delimitation to identify every single specimen of quantitative collections. From bottom sediments of 17 ponds in summer in the Banshu Plain of Japan, a total of 62 species were delimited based on the DNA sequences of the mitochondrial COI region. Chironomid communities from these ponds were classified into four groups in a two‐dimensional ordination of multivariate analysis (NMDS). One of the dimensions was well correlated with the gradient of eutrophication, while another dimension was not clearly assigned to any general feature of the environmental gradient, but rice cultivation could possibly be involved.  相似文献

Thirty-five corticioid collections from the Canary Islands and Azores Archipelago were examined morphologically and subjected to molecular phylogenetic analysis. These specimens, almost all collected on endemic and/or xerophilic vegetation, were similar in morphological and ecological characteristics to Hypochnicium prosopidis from the Sonoran Desert (Arizona, USA) and Hyphoderma amoenum. Thirty-seven new ITS nrDNA sequences from these specimens, including the nomenclatural type of the above-mentioned species, were obtained and aligned with homologous sequences from GenBank. These collections were distributed in two strongly supported monophyletic clades. However, similar patterns of morphological variability shared by specimens included in both clades and their differences with related species suggest that they should be described as a single new species. Therefore Hyphoderma macaronesicum is proposed. Studies will be required to test, in a more robust multilocus genealogical framework, whether these populations constitute two cryptic species or whether they are the same taxon. The position of Hypochnicium prosopidis in the resolved tree and its morphological characters suggest that it should be included in Hyphoderma and the new combination Hyphoderma prosopidis is proposed.  相似文献

ABSTRACT The 18S rRNA gene ( Rns ) phylogeny of Acanthamoeba is being investigated as a basis for improvements in the nomenclature and taxonomy of the genus. We previously analyzed Rns sequences from 18 isolates from morphological groups 2 and 3 and found that they fell into four distinct evolutionary lineages we called sequence types T1-T4. Here, we analyzed sequences from 53 isolates representing 16 species and including 35 new strains. Eight additional lineages (sequence types T5-T12) were identified. Four of the 12 sequence types included strains from more than one nominal species. Thus, sequence types could be equated with species in some cases or with complexes of closely related species in others. The largest complex, sequence type T4, which contained six closely related nominal species, included 24 of 25 keratitis isolates. Rns sequence variation was insufficient for full phylogenetic resolution of branching orders within this complex, but the mixing of species observed at terminal nodes confirmed that traditional classification of isolates has been inconsistent. One solution to this problem would be to equate sequence types and single species. Alternatively, additional molecular information will be required to reliably differentiate species within the complexes. Three sequence types of morphological group 1 species represented the earliest divergence in the history of the genus and, based on their genetic distinctiveness, are candidates for reclassification as one or more novel genera.  相似文献

Sparassis species show extensive morphological variation, especially when materials from eastern Asia and Australia are compared with collections from North America and Europe. We have been studying the taxonomy of Sparassis from eastern Asia, North America, Australia and Europe, using both morphological and molecular data. DNA was extracted from 32 recent collections of Sparassis from Australia, Canada, China, Finland, France, Germany, Japan, Switzerland, Thailand, the United Kingdom and the United States. The report of a Sparassis taxon from Australia is the first report of this genus from the Southern Hemisphere. Sequences of nuclear and mitochondrial rDNA and the gene encoding RNA polymerase subunit II (RPB2) were used to examine relationships both within the genus Sparassis and between Sparassis species and other members of the polyporoid clade. Equally weighted parsimony analyses and Bayesian analyses were performed using independent datasets and combined datasets of sequences from different regions. Our results suggest that: (i) Polyporoid fungi producing a brown rot may form a clade; (ii) as suggested in a previous study, Sparassis and Phaeolus form a monophyletic group, which is united by the production of a brown rot, the presence of a bipolar mating system and the frequent habit of growing as a root and butt rot on living trees; (iii) at least seven lineages are within Sparassis, represented by S. spathulata, S. brevipes, S. crispa, S. radicata and three taxa that have not been described, which can be distinguished on the basis of fruiting body structure, presence or absence of clamp connections, presence or absence of cystidia and spore size.  相似文献

From the roots of Aconitum nagarum var. lasiandrum W. T. Wang, seven diterpe- noid alkaloids were isolated and determined as follows: denudatine of atisine-type (7), songorine and songoramine of veatchine-type (1 and 12), virescenine of lycoctonine-type (13), neoline, 14-acetylneoline and fiavaconitine of aconitine-type (2, 3 and 8). A. nagarum var. lasiandrum W. T. Wang is a typical species of Ser. Bullatifolia which contained four types diterpenoid alkaloids. On the basis of distribution of diterpenoid alkaloids, phytogenesis add morphological evolution of Chinese species of genus Aconitum, probably Chinese species of genus Aconitum modernly advanced and divided from this serics.  相似文献
