The hypothalamo-hypophysial vascular relationship and intra-hypophysial vasculatisation have been described in order to understand the regulatory mechanism of hypothalamic control over the functions of the pituitary gland. In Glossogobius giuris, the disposition of the blood vessels in the head region is on typical teleostean pattern with certain modifications. The nucleus preopticus is supplied through the nucleus preopticus artery, a small blood vessel arising from the anterior branch of the posterior cerebral artery, whereas the pituitary gland receives blood through a pair of hypophysial arteries. The blood from the pituitary is drained off by the pituitary veins whch pour their blood into the supra-orbital sinus. The anterior cerebral vein after taking the blood from anterior part of the brain including the hypothalamus and the nucleus preopticus joins with the supra-orbital sinus. The hypothalamo-hypophysial portal system is absent in this fish. The saccus vasculosus receives blood from the posterior cerebral artery through a small blood vessel and is collected by a prominent saccus vasculosus vein which pours blood into the supra-orbital sinus before it joins the infra-orbital sinus to form the heat vein. There seems to be no physological connection between the saccus vasculosus and pituitary gland. The highly vascularised neurohypophysis interdigitate with the pars intermedia and extends upto the proximal pars distalis. The blood vessels are restricted to the neurohypophysial extensions only. However, in the rostral pars distalis the blood vessels are present but the neurohypophysis does not extend to this part. The blood capillaries enter the rostral pars distalis from the capillary network on the surface of pituitary gland along with the connected tissue covering of the pituitary. The neurohypophysis shows a greater vascularisation in comparison to that of the other glandular part of the pituitary gland. In the present study of Glossogobius giuris, though an extensive ramification of neurohypophysis occurs with the pars intermedia and the proximal pars distalis, the neurosecretory axons do not innervate the endocrine cells of the pituitary gland and the blood vessels are found restricted to the neurohypophysial extensions except that of the rostral pars distalis. The neuro-vascular way of hypothalamic control over the functions of the pituitary gland seems to be justified as the neurosecretory fibres have been found associated with the blood vessels.  相似文献

Summary With the aid of an indirect immunofluorescence technique neurones containing a gastrin-like substance were identified in the brain of Salmo gairdneri. The perikarya of these neurones appear to be located along the periventricular part of the nucleus lateralis tuberis between the hypophysial stalk and the most rostral tip of the saccus vasculosus. The fibres of these perikarya run rostrally toward the hypophysis, where they can be followed in the protrusions of the neurohypophysis into the proximal pars distalis. Here the bundle of immunoreactive fibres divides into numerous smaller bundles and into single fibres. Immunohistochemical specificity tests have shown this immunoreactive substance to belong to the gastrin group, sharing an antigenic determinant with cholecystokinin (CCK) and pentagastrin (common aminoacid sequence Trp-Met-Asp-Phe). A possible function of these gastrin (or CCK)-containing neurones in the rainbow trout is discussed.  相似文献

Comments on the evolution of the jaw adductor musculature of snakes   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The aim of this study is to provide a general view of the adductor musculature of the alethinophidian snakes. The aponeurotic system present in anilioid snakes is here described as being also present in colubroid and booid snakes. Although modified in various groups, this aponeurotic system retains the same topographical pattern in the anilioids, booids and colubroids, and is thus hypothesized to be homologous. An analysis of the aponeurotic system and related muscular bundles within the alethinophidian snakes is given. A new terminology is proposed for the jaw adductor muscles where the muscles levator anguli oris and adductor mandibulae externus superficialis (proper) of snakes (sensu Lakjer, 1926; Haas, 1962) retain these names even if this fails to reflect the presumed homologies with the bundles of the same name in lizards (see Rieppel, 1988b); the fibres originating from the temporal tendon in the Anilioidea, and presumed to form a bundle of composite nature (Rieppel, 1980b), are named the M. adductor mandibulae externus temporalis (lost by the Macrostomata); the M. adductor mandibulae externus medialis is a composite muscle in the Anilioidea (Rieppel, 1980b) which give rise to two different muscles in the ‘booids’, the M. adductor mandibulae externus medialis, pars anterior and the M. adductor mandibulae externus profundus, the former being secondarily lost by the Caenophidia which retains only fibres homologues of the 3b and 3c heads of the profundus layer of lizards; the so-called M. adductor mandibular externus profundus of snakes (sensu Lackjer, 1926; Haas, 1962) is also a composite muscle in the Anilioidea (Rieppel, 1980b), in the alethinophidians it is essentially made of fibres homologous with the posterior pinnate part of the medialis layer of lizards, and is here named the M. adductor mandibulae externus medialis, pars posterior. As a result from this analysis it follows that: (1) the Macrostomata are characterized by the downward extension of the fibres forming the M. adductor mandibulae externus medialis, pars anterior and the loss of the M. adductor mandibulae externus temporalis: (2) the Xenopeltidae are set apart from the remaining macrostomatan snakes by the retention of the M. levator anguli oris and of a well developed lateral sheet of the quadrate aponeurosis; (3) the ‘booids’ form a monophyletic group comprising only the Boidae and Bolyeriidae (with the exclusion of the Xenopeltidae and Tropidophiidae) which is characterized by a differentiated M. adductor mandibulae externus medialis, pars anterior inserting on the lateral surface of the compound bone via its own aponeurosis; (4) the Tropidophiidae are set apart from all other snakes by the peculiar course of their lateral head vein; however, they belong to the Caenophidia as they show a facial carotid artery which passes dorsally to the mandibular and maxillary branches of the trigeminus; (5) a possible additional character in favour of an Acrochordoidea + Colubroidea monophyletic unit may be given by the pattern of innervation of the jaw adductor muscles in these two taxa; (6) a new interpretation of the compressor glandulae muscular complex of Atractaspis resulted in a morphologically similar pattern to that of the viperids; the phylogenetic implications of such similarity are discussed in detail.  相似文献

Summary A quantitative ultrastructural study was made of the neuntes forming the deep muscular and circular muscle plexuses of the guinea-pig small intestine following microsurgical lesions designed to interrupt intrinsic and extrinsic nerve pathways within the intestinal wall. Removal of a collar of longitudinal muscle with attached myenteric plexus from the circumference of a segment of small intestine resulted in the subsequent disappearance of 99.3% of neurites in the underlying circular muscle. The few surviving neurites in the deep muscular plexus and circular muscle disappeared completely from lesioned segments that were, in addition, extrinsically denervated surgically. These results indicate that the majority of nerve fibres in the deep muscular and circular muscle plexuses of the guinea-pig small intestine is intrinsic to the intestine and originates from nerve cell bodies located in the overlying myenteric plexus. At the light-microscopic level, nerve bundles were traced from the myenteric plexus to the circular muscle.  相似文献

Histological characteristics of the lower oesophageal sphincter in the cat   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
N Clerc 《Acta anatomica》1983,117(3):201-208
The structure of the lower oesophageal sphincter (LOS) of the cat was investigated in comparison with that of the oesophagus. The following two main results were collected: (1) The muscularis mucosae of the lower oesophageal sphincter is much thicker than at oesophageal level (221 micron as compared with 17.8 micron on average). This thickening is particularly marked at the most prominent foldings of the mucosa. (2) Numerous annulospiral thin elastic fibres were found, in the circular layer of the LOS. These structures will coil spirally around muscular bundles and then wrap themselves around adjacent bundles so that they present an oblique orientation with regard to muscular fibres. Therefore it is concluded that in this species, the LOS is morphologically differentiated from the oesophagus.  相似文献

The anatomical and histological structure of the stomach was examined in François' leaf monkeys (Presbytis francoisi). The stomachs consisted of three parts, the saccus, the tubus gastricus and pars pylorica, and had well-developed taeniae and many haustra. The cardiac gland region occupied the saccular forestomach and the anterior half of the tubus gastricus, while the fundic gland region occupied the posterior half of the tubus gastricus. The pyloric gland region occupied the entire pars pylorica. In the mucosa of the cardiac gland region, villus-like processes were observed. The mucosae of the cardiac and pyloric gland regions contained not only neutral mucins but also acid mucins.  相似文献

1. Experiments were performed in 18 chloralose-anaesthetized, curarized cats in order to study the callosal transfer of somatic information originated in exteroceptive and proprioceptive receptors. Several cutaneous and deep nerves of the forelimb were prepared and stimulated with graded intensities, so as to activate selectively afferent fibres pertaining to the different groups of Lloyd's classification. Simultaneous records were taken (and averaged on-line by means of a multichannel analyzer) from the distal end of a cut dorsal rootlet (C7-C8), from the cerebral cortex (SI, SII or area 3a, according to the experiment) and from the somesthetic callosal region (SCR). 2. The low-threshold afferent fibres (Group II) of cutaneous origin were found to have a wide projection to the SCR, with the maximal density in its middle portion. Some of the fastest corticocallosal impulses are relayed monosynaptically at cortical level. Plots of the amplitude of cortical and callosal responses as a function of stimulus strength showed that both central responses have the same threshold and exhibit a parallel, sharply-rising amplitude increase, thus suggesting that the cortico-callosal re-transmission system for afferent impulses of cutaneous origin is very powerful in nature. Impulses elicited in afferent fibres of higher threshold (Group III) do not enhance the cortical and callosal positive waves provoked by Group II afferent volleys. 3. Afferent fibres of deep origin were also found to send a wide projection to the SCR, although less substantial than that of cutaneous fibres. Stimulation of the deep radial nerve elicited mass responses in the whole SCR, provided the strength of stimuli was high enough to engage the Group II fibres. Only in the central portion of the SCR were small potentials recorded in response to pure Group I volleys of DRN. Experiments performed with selective stimulation of pure muscular branches of forelimb deep nerves as well as of articular and mixed (muscular and articular) branches gave evidence making it possible to ascertain the origin of deep afferent fibres projecting to the SCR. Stimulation of the forelimb muscular branches with strength provoking full activation of Group I afferent and additional engagement of those of Group II, did not provoke mass responses in the whole extent of the SCR. In order to obtain callosal potentials upon stimulation of pure muscular nerves, it was necessary to increase the stimulus strength at or above the threshold for Group III fibres. On the contrary, the same callosal foci unresponsive to Group I and II muscular afferent volleys exhibited clear-cut responses to stimulation of the lowest-threshold Group I and/or Group II afferents of articular and mixed nerves. From the results it might be inferred that only proprioceptive information originating from articular receptors and from extrafusal muscular afferents has access to the callosal interhemispheric transfer.  相似文献

The anatomy and histochemistry of the sympathetic nervous system in the cod were studied by osmic acid staining, cholinesterase staining and fluorescent histochemistry of ganglia and nerve fibres. Large bundles of fluorescent fibres from the sympathetic ganglia in the head enter the cranial nerves and run with these. These bundles are exceptionally large to the vagi, and the cod vagi may therefore be regarded as vago-sympathetic trunks. All the sympathetic ganglion cells contain specific (acetyl-) cholinesterase, although the degree of staining was variable. The vast majority of cells in the ganglion coeliacum and other anterior ganglia show specific fluorescence of variable intensity. Ganglion cells completely devoid of specific fluorescence are scarce in the anterior ganglia, but abundant in the posterior ganglia associated with the vesicular nerve. A separate and distinct bundle of medullated fibres leaves the sympathetic chain on the left side and spreads in the wall of the left posterior cardinal vein, presumably innervating the chromaffin tissue. Similar fibres on the right side are also present, but do not form a distinct nerve.  相似文献

Osteomyelitis is reported for the first time in a sauropod dinosaur. The material (MCS‐PV 183) comes from the Anacleto Formation (Campanian, Late Cretaceous), at the Cinco Saltos locality, Río Negro Province, Argentina. The specimen consists of 16 mid and mid‐distal caudal vertebrae of a titanosaur sauropod. Evidence of bacterial infection is preserved in all of these vertebrae. The main anomalies are as follows: irregular ‘microbubbly’ texture of bone surfaces produced by periosteal reactive bone, abscesses on the rims of the anterior articular surfaces of two centra, numerous pits on centra anterior articulation surfaces, erosions on the anterior articulation of the vertebral centra, a vertical groove in posterior articular face of all the centra and disruption of the prezygapophysis and postzygapophysis (mainly the articular face) from the vertebra 19 and beyond. The last anomaly is increasingly pronounced in more distal elements of the series. Thin sections reveal that the anomalous cortical tissue is composed of avascular and highly fibrous bone matrix. The fibres of the bone matrix are organized into thick bundles oriented in different directions. Both morphological and histological abnormalities in the MCS‐PV 183 specimen are pathognomonic for osteomyelitis.  相似文献

An attempt is made to clarify the mechanisms of the scale anchorage in two Cyprinidae, the goldfish and the carp. Scanning and transmission electron microscope investigations
revealed the presence of two different structures, denticles and collagen fibre bundles involved in the anchoring processes. These strucures are located on the upper part of the
scales. Denticles form minute processes on the circuli of the anterior areas of the scales. Collagen fibre bundles arise from the superficial layer connecting the scale to the overlying dermis. These fibre bundles show structural similarities with the Sharpey's fibres and are named Sharpey-fibre-like bundles. Such fibres of attachment, not previously reported, can be considered as usual anchoring structures in fish scales.  相似文献

The areas of the femoral origin of the cruciate ligaments have approximately the shape of sectors of ellipses, the one for the anterior ligament on the lateral condyle posteroproximally and the one for the posterior ligament on the medial condyle distally. By means of a new technique of dissection, combined with the use of X-rays, the change in distance between the origin and insertion and so the change of tension of single bundles of the ligaments could be analyzed. Only a rather thin bundle in each cruciate ligament is in constant tension: "guiding bundles." The maximal diminution of distance between the origin and insertion for some bundles is 65%. In the anterior cruciate ligament the majority of fibres are taut in extreme extension: "limiting bundles." The same is true in the posterior cruciate ligament in extreme flexion. There are also some fibres, especially in the posterior cruciate ligament, that are taut only in an intermediate position. The geometric analysis of the function of different groups of fibers was performed by a modification of Menschik's concept of a four-bar link.  相似文献

1. In the present information the course of fibre pathways which are connected with the mammillary body of the cattle is described in 14 series of brains (6 frontal, 4 sagittal, 4 horizontal series, stained by the combined cell-fibre-method after KLUVER and BARRERA and by the method for myelined fibres after HEIDENHAIN). 2. The mammillary body of cattle is connected with four main fibre systems. These are the fornix and the mamillary peduncle as well as the mamillo-thalamic and the mamillo-tegmental tracts. 3. The fornix system first of all represents a rich myelined fibre connection between the hippocampus and the mamillary body. But also fornix fibres entering the poor-myelined regions of the hypothalamus and the mesencephalon have been demonstrated. 4. The mamillary peduncle ascending from the mesencephalon can be traced to the lateral mamillary nucleus. 5. The mamillo-thalamic tract of cattle has its origin in the mamillary body with the mamillotegmental tract associated to a common principal mamillary tract and passes to the complex of the anterior nucleus of the thalamus, while the mamillo-tegmental tract branching off from it curves into the mesencephalon.  相似文献

Summary The distribution of monoamine oxidase (MAO) in the brain of Xenopus laevis tadpoles (stage 52–56) was studied histochemically with a modified Glenner's tryptamine-tetrazolium method. A moderate activity was observed in fibre regions of the striatum and septum (including the medial and lateral forebrain bundles), in the neuropil of the nucleus amygdalae, in the commissura anterior and commissura hippocampi, in the fibre regions of the diencephalon (including the optic chiasma), in the fibre regions of the tectum opticum and the tegmentum of the mesencephalon and in the white substance of the ventral half of the medulla oblongata. A greater MAO activity was found in the neuropil of the entire nucleus praeopticus. In the partes anterior and magnocellularis of this nucleus, MAO positive fibres are present in close contact with the perikarya, indicating a monoaminergic innervation of these neurons. The perikarya themselves did not show MAO activity. In the neurons of the nucleus praeopticus epichiasmaticus, the paraventricular organ (PVO) and nucleus infundibularis dorsalis (NID), only a slight MAO activity has been demonstrated in the perikarya, whereas a strong MAO positivity was found in the intraventricular protrusions and the neuropil. These data indicate the aminergic character of the neurons of these nuclei. From the postoptic fibre region a MAO positive tract was observed towards the developing median eminence and pars intermedia of the hypophysis. The pars nervosa and some cells of the pars distalis also contained MAO. Along the border of the aquaeduct of Silvius and the fourth ventricle, MAO positive liquor-containing neurons are also present. The distribution of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) was investigated in the hypothalamohypophysial region. AChE activity was found in the neuropil of the nucleus praeopticus magnocellularis, in the fibres of the optic chiasma and in the postoptic fibre region. The neurons of the PVO and NID were AChE negative. An AChE positive tract could be traced from the postoptic fibre region to the developing median eminence and pars nervosa. The pars distalis did not show AChE activity. However, in tadpoles reaching the metamorphic climax, ChE activity appeared in certain cells of the pars distalis; this might be related to degenerative phenomena in the acidophilic cells. The absence of AChE activity in the pars intermedia indicates a regulation of MSH release by peptidergic nerves to be unlikely. The stimulating interest and helpful advice of Prof. Dr. P. G. W. J. van Oordt is gratefully acknowledged. Thanks are also due to Mr. H. van Kooten and his co-workers for making the photographs.  相似文献

Summary The lung of the deep diving Weddell Seal is characterized by an unusually well developed periacinar dense collagenous connective tissue, and a thick coat of smooth musculature particularly in the distal bronchioli. Both, collagen and smooth musculature appear to be functionally interrelated, the first serving presumably as site of origin or attachment for the latter. The orientation of the bronchiolar smooth muscle cells is complex: there exists a basic pattern of two crisscrossing helical bundles that wind in opposite direction. In addition, longitudinal bundles are frequent both at the inside and the outside of the muscular coat. Furthermore, more or less complete ringshaped bundles occur as well as groups of muscle fibres running radially into the collagenous tissue of the surroundings of a bronchiolus. This complex architecture presumably allows active adjustment to various physiological needs of the Weddell Seal including as extremes both closing and widening of the bronchiolar lumen. Isometric contractions of the smooth musculature may stiffen the wall of the distal airways while diving. In the Crabeater Seal which dives for shorter durations and by far less deeply than the Weddell Seal, both periacinar collagen and bronchiolar smooth musculature are of similar arrangement, however, occur in considerably reduced amounts. A rich supply of autonomie nerve fibres with abundant varicosities controls the smooth muscle cells, which are interconnected by gap junctions and receive their innervation par distance (visceral type of smooth musculature). The majority of varicosities contains small clear vesicles, as is typical for cholinergic nerves, suggesting a strong parasympathetic influence. Other varicosities are presumably of peptidergic type. Mast cells and epithelial endocrine cells may exert additional influence on the musculature.  相似文献

Summary A rich system of monoamine-containing fibres is described in the neural lobe and pars intermedia of the pig and rat. a) A rich network of delicate varicose fibres is evenly distributed throughout the parenchyma of the neural lobe and surrounds the cells of the pars intermedia. b) Droplets or clusters of droplets are scattered throughout the neural lobe. Most of them probably constitute terminal swellings or end-apparatuses of smooth or varicose fibres. The number of droplets varies from animal to animal; they are found also in the pars intermedia. c) Coarse varicose fibres are mainly localized around larger vessels. At least some of these fibres are nerve fibres of sympathetic origin. A combination of fluorescence microscopy and aldehyde-fuchsin staining on the same sections demonstrated that the majority at least of these monoamine-containing structures were not identical with aldehyde-fuchsin positive neurosecretory fibres. This research was supported by a grant from the Swedish Medical Research Council (B68-12X-712-03B) and by the Faculty of Medicine, University of Lund.  相似文献

Summary Immuno-enzyme cytochemical investigations showed that the whole amphibian pars intermedia of the hypophysis is innervated by an intercellular network of peptidergic varicose nerve fibres which contain mesotocin or (and) parts of the mesotocin molecule. The pars intermedia does not contain vasotocinergic fibres. The mesotocinergic fibres are branches of axons leaving the pituitary stalk and the neural lobe. In animals of which the hypothalamic magnocellular neurosecretory preoptic nuclei had been completely removed, the immuno-reactive mesotocinergic fibres of the pars intermedia had totally disappeared. From this result, it is concluded that the mesotocinergic fibres of the pars intermedia of the amphibian hypophysis are axons of neurosecretory perikarya located in the hypothalamic magnocellular neurosecretory preoptic nuclei.Dedicated to Professor Berta Scharrer on the accasion of her 70th birthdayThis investigation was supported by a grant from the Belgian Nationaal Fonds voor Geneeskundig Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek  相似文献

Summary Using the electron-microscopic immunogold method, vasotocin, isotocin, somatostatin (SRIF), gonadotrophin-releasing hormone (LHRH) and corticotrophin-releasing factor (CRF)-like immunoreactivities were localized in separate neurosecretory fibres in the pituitary of a teleost fish Poecilia latipinna. Antigenicities were preserved in sections of conventionally fixed tissue, except in the case of LHRH and CRF-like substances which were sensitive to osmium postfixation. Under the same fixation conditions, ultrastructural differences were observed between the 5 fibre types, and morphometric analysis of their granule sizes revealed significant differences in mean diameter except between vasotocin and isotocin fibres.Terminal-like regions of each type were identified on blood vessels, glial cells or other fibres in the neurohypophysis, on the basement lamina of the adenohypophysis, or directly on adenohypophysial endocrine cells. The fibres containing the two neurohypophysial hormones, originating from separate preoptic perikarya, were intermingled with, and may form endings near all the adenohypophysial cell types except those secreting prolactin. Although both types had similar mean granule diameters, the granules in the vasotocin fibres (mean 135 nm) were markedly less electron dense than those in the isotocin fibres (mean 140 nm). SRIF-immunoreactive fibres (mean 101 nm) appeared to form synapse-like endings on the somatotrophs, and a few thyrotrophs in the proximal pars distalis, and near the pars intermedia cells. An LHRH-positive type (mean 103 nm) contacted only the gonadotrophs of the proximal pars distalis. The rarer CRF-like fibres (mean 116 nm) appeared to project mainly towards the pars intermedia, but a few appeared to terminate rostrally near the adrenocorticotrophic cells. The significance of these observations is discussed in relation to the direct neurosecretory control of adenohypophysial function in teleosts.  相似文献

Fifty hearts of corpses of humans of different age groups were studied by means of macro-microscopical anatomical dissection of muscle fibres and cardiac blood vessels. The muscle bridges were found over the coronary arteries in all preparations of the heart. They were most frequently met on the anterior interventricular branch of the left coronary artery. The topography of muscle bridges is described and the miocardium muscle bundles participating in their formation are revealed. The character of the course of fibres in the muscle bridge is related to the course of the fibres of the muscle bundle forming it.  相似文献
