Phloem sieve elements have shut‐off mechanisms that prevent loss of nutrient‐rich phloem sap when the phloem is damaged. Some phloem proteins such as the proteins that form forisomes in legume sieve elements are one such mechanism and in response to damage, they instantly form occlusions that stop the flow of sap. It has long been hypothesized that one function of phloem proteins is defence against phloem sap‐feeding insects such as aphids. This study provides the first experimental evidence that aphid feeding can induce phloem protein occlusion and that the aphid‐induced occlusions inhibit phloem sap ingestion. The great majority of phloem penetrations in Vicia faba by the generalist aphids Myzus persicae and Macrosiphum euphorbiae triggered forisome occlusion and the aphids eventually withdrew their stylets without ingesting phloem sap. This contrasts starkly with a previous study on the legume‐specialist aphid, Acyrthosiphon pisum, where penetration of faba bean sieve elements did not trigger forisome occlusion and the aphids readily ingested phloem sap. Next, forisome occlusion was demonstrated to be the cause of failed phloem ingestion attempts by M. persicae: when occlusion was inhibited by the calcium channel blocker lanthanum, M. persicae readily ingested faba bean phloem sap.  相似文献

Diurnal variation in phloem sap composition has a strong infuence on aphid performance. The sugar-rich phloem sap serves as the sole diet for aphids and a suite of physiological mechanisms and behaviors allowv them to tolerate the high osmotic stress. Here,we tested the hypothesis that night-time feeding by aphids is a behavior that takes advantage of the low sugar diet in the night to compensate for osmotic stress incurred while feeding on high sugar diet during the day.Using the electrical penetration graph(EPG)technique.we examined the eiects of diurmal rhythm on feeding behaviors of bird cherry-oat aphid(Rhopalosiphurm padi L.)on wheat.A strong diurmal rhythm in aphids as indicated by the presence of a cyclical pattern of expression in a core clock gene did not impact aphid feeding and similar feeding behaviors were observed during day and night. The major difference observed between day and night feeding was that aphids spent significantly longer time in phloem salivation during the night compared to the day.In contrast, aphid hydration was reduced at the end of the day-time feeding compared to end of the night-time fepding.Gene expression analysis of R.padi osmoregulatory genes indicated that sugar break down and water transport into the aphid gut was reduced at night. These data suggest that while diumal variation occurs in phloem sap composition, aphids use night time feeding to overcome the high osmotic stress incurred while feeding on sugar-rich phloem sap during the day.  相似文献

Effects of elevated CO2 levels on the amino acid constituents of cotton aphid, Aphis gossypii (Glover), fed on transgenic Bacillus thuringiensis (Berliner) (Bt) cotton [Cryl A(c)], grown in ambient and double‐ambient CO2 levels in closed‐dynamics CO2 chambers, were investigated. Lower amounts of amino acids were found in cotton phloem under elevated CO2 than under ambient CO2 levels. However, higher amounts of free amino acids were found in A. gossypii fed on elevated CO2‐grown cotton than those fed ambient CO2‐grown cotton, and the contents of amino acids in honeydew were not significantly affected by elevated CO2 levels. A larger amount of honeydew was produced by cotton aphids feeding on leaves under elevated CO2 treatment than those feeding on leaves under ambient CO2 treatment, which indicates that A. gossypii ingests more cotton phloem because of the higher C:N ratio of cotton phloem under elevated CO2 levels. Moreover, the amino acid composition was similar in bodies of aphids ingesting leaves under both CO2 treatments, except for two alkaline amino acids, lysine and arginine. This suggests that the nutritional constitution of the phloem sap was important for A. gossypii. Our data suggest that more phloem sap will be ingested by A. gossypii to satisfy its nutritional requirement and balance the break‐even point of amino acid in elevated CO2. Larger amounts of honeydew produced by A. gossypii under elevated CO2 will reduce the photosynthesis and result in the occurrence of some Entomophthora spp.  相似文献

1. The performance of foliage feeders tends to decrease under elevated CO2, but the responses of phloem‐feeding insects have been much more equivocal. As phloem tissues are less accessible than whole‐plant tissues, much less is known about how phloem composition is altered under elevated CO2 and the mechanisms driving changes in aphid performance. 2. In this study, the plant mechanisms underlying the performance of Rhopalosiphum padi aphids on Hordeum vulgare (barley) grown under ambient (390 ppm) and elevated (700 ppm) CO2 were examined. We used aphid stylectomy to sample pure phloem from plants in CO2‐controlled conditions and high‐performance liquid chromatography to analyse phloem samples for amino acid concentrations. 3. Aphid abundance significantly increased by 127% under elevated CO2. Consequently, plant biomass decreased under elevated CO2 in trials with herbivores present, possibly due to the increased herbivore load, but increased when aphids were absent. The intrinsic rate of population increase (rm) was significantly higher under elevated CO2; however, there were no statistically significant effects on aphid fecundity or development time. The concentration of individual amino acids tended to increase, although these increases were statistically significant in only a few cases. A principal components analysis revealed that the relative abundance (mol %) of those amino acids considered essential for aphids tended to increase under elevated CO2. 4. These results indicate that CO2 may affect nutrient translocation in plants in ways that are contrary to predictions about nitrogen metabolite responses to CO2. Such plant biochemical responses may underlie observations of improved phloem feeder performance under elevated CO2.  相似文献

Leaf-chewing herbivores select food with a protein/carbohydrate ratio of 0.8–1.5, whereas phloem sap, which aphids feed on, has a ratio of ~0.1. Enhanced N fertilization increases the amino acid concentration in phloem sap and elevates the N/C ratio. The study examines: (1) whether aphids select between plants of different N nutrition, (2) whether feeding time correlates with the amino acid composition of phloem sap, and (3) at which stage of probing aphids identify the quality of the plant. Uroleucon tanaceti (Mordvilko) and Macrosiphoniella tanacetaria (Kaltenbach), specialist aphids feeding on tansy (Tanacetum vulgare L.), were reared on this host plant grown essentially hydroponically (in Vermiculite) in the greenhouse on 1, 3, 6, or 12 mM NH4NO3. One and 3 mM NH4NO3 corresponds to the situation found in natural tansy stands. Aphid stylet penetration was monitored by electrical penetration graphs whilst phloem sap was sampled by stylectomy. Both aphid species settled 2–3 times more frequently on plants fertilized with 6 or 12 mM NH4NO3. The phloem sap of these plants contained up to threefold higher amino acid concentrations, without a change in the proportion of essential amino acids. No time differences were observed before stylet penetration of plant tissue. After the first symplast contact, most aphids penetrated further, except M. tanacetaria on low-N plants, where 50% withdrew the stylet after the first probing. The duration of phloem feeding was 2–3 times longer in N-rich plants and the time spent in individual sieve tubes was up to tenfold longer. Aphids identified the nutritional quality of the host plant mainly by the amino acid concentration of phloem sap, not by leaf surface cues nor the proportion of essential amino acids. However, U. tanaceti infestation increased the percentage of methionine plus tryptophan in phloem tenfold, thus manipulating the plants nutritional quality, and causing premature leaf senescence.  相似文献

The probing behavior of bird cherry-oat aphid Rhopalosiphum padi was studied on its natural winter host in Europe, the bird cherry Prunus padus, and on the invasive black cherry Prunus serotina, on which spring generations of R. padi do not survive. The EPG-recorded behavior of R. padi on bird cherry and black cherry showed differences in crucial aspects of probing and feeding. The period of the pre-phloem penetration was twice as long and rarely interrupted in aphids on bird cherry as opposed to aphids on black cherry. On black cherry, there was a considerable delay between finding and accepting the phloem. Aphids that had sampled phloem sap either refused to ingest it or the ingestion periods were very short. Amygdalin and prunasin (cyanogenic glycosides present in leaves of Prunus) seriously impeded ingestion activities when applied in pure sucrose diet. The role of amygdalin and prunasin in winter host plant selection and host alternation in R. padi is discussed.  相似文献

Feeding behavior of Melanaphis sacchari Zehntner (Hemiptera: Aphididae) was studied on sugarcane, Saccharum spp. (Poaceae), cultivars HoCP 91‐555 (resistant), LCP 85‐384 (moderately resistant), and L 97‐128 (susceptible) using the electrical penetration graph (EPG) technique. Constitutive concentrations of total phenolics and available carbohydrates, water potential at the whole‐leaf tissue level, and free amino acids (FAAs) in phloem sap extracts, and in honeydew produced by aphids fed on L 97‐128 and HoCP 91‐555 were determined. Cultivar did not influence time for M. sacchari to access phloem sieve elements. Total time in sieve elements was ca. two‐fold greater on L 97‐128 than on HoCP 91‐555, whereas it did not differ from LCP 85‐384 in either cultivar. The mean duration of individual events associated with phloem sap ingestion was ca. 50% shorter on both HoCP 91‐555 and LCP 85‐384 than on L 97‐128. Although cultivar effects were not detected for levels of total phenolics, available carbohydrates, and water potential, two free essential amino acids, histidine and arginine, were absent from phloem sap in HoCP 91‐555. Two free essential amino acids, leucine and isoleucine, and two free non‐essential amino acids, tyrosine and proline, were absent from honeydew of aphids fed on HoCP 91‐555. These results suggest that despite apparent biosynthesis of some FAAs, the absence of important FAAs in the phloem sap of HoCP 91‐555 and the inability of M. sacchari and its endosymbionts (e.g., Buchnera) to derive specific free essential and non‐essential amino acids from other ingested molecules, possibly along with other unidentified factors, underlie the pest's decreased phloem sap ingestion and consequently reduced growth potential on HoCP 91‐555.  相似文献

The bird cherry-oat aphid (Rhopalosiphum padi L.) is a major pest of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) and can cause up to 30% yield losses. Heritable plant resistance to aphids is both an economically and ecologically sound method for managing aphids. Here we report how the behaviour and performance of R. padi differs on two resistant, one susceptible wheat landrace and a susceptible elite wheat variety. Feeding behaviour differed among the genotypes, with aphids on resistant lines spending longer in the pathway phase and less time phloem feeding. These behaviours suggest that both inter- and intracellular factors encountered during pathway and phloem feeding phases could be linked to the observed aphid resistance. Locomotion and antennal positioning choice tests also revealed a clear preference for susceptible lines. Although feeding studies revealed differences in the first probe indicating that the resistance factors might also be located in the peripheral layers of the plant tissue, scanning electron microscopy revealed no difference in trichrome length and density on the surface of leaves. Aphids are phloem feeders and limiting the nutrient uptake by the aphids may negatively affect their growth and development as shown here in lower weight and survival of nymphs on resistant genotypes and decreased reproductive potential, with lowest mean numbers of nymphs produced by aphids on W064 (54.8) compared to Solstice (71.9). The results indicate that resistant lines markedly alter the behaviour, reproduction and development potential of R. padi and possess both antixenosis and antibiosis type of resistance.  相似文献

The isotopic enrichment between an animal and its diet can vary among and within living systems, but the sources of variation are not yet fully understood. Some studies have found that diet quality or an animal’s nutritional status can influence the degree of trophic enrichment, while others have dismissed nutrition as a contributing factor. We evaluated the effects of nutrient and water availability on carbon and nitrogen isotopic enrichment in a specialized plant–herbivore system. Aphids are largely sedentary and rely exclusively on nitrogen-poor phloem sap of their host for nutrition. We grew potato aphids [Macrosiphum euphorbiae (Aphididae)] on an accepted host, pumpkin [Cucurbita pepo L. (Cucurbitaceae)], in a glasshouse environment. Twelve pumpkin plants growing under high- and low-watering regimes were inoculated at 4 weeks of age with aphids. During the course of the experiment we collected leaves, phloem sap, aphids and honeydew (i.e., aphid exudates). We found no trophic enrichment between aphids and their phloem sap diet, but significant carbon enrichment of honeydew relative to aphids (2.5‰) and phloem sap (2.1‰). Honeydew was also enriched in nitrogen compared to the phloem sap (1.2‰). Watering treatment had a substantial impact on trophic enrichment. Correlations among tissues, an indication of uniform trophic enrichment among samples, were significant only for the carbon isotopic composition, and then only for plants and aphids grown in the low-water treatment. Diet quality also influenced the degree of isotopic enrichment; trophic enrichment for both carbon and nitrogen isotopic composition increased as diet quality (C/N) declined. We conclude that the degree of trophic enrichment is variable due, in part, to diet quality, but that the scale of variation is small.  相似文献

Aphid activities during sieve element punctures   总被引:13,自引:0,他引:13
Aphid salivation in sieve elements and phloem sap ingestion were linked to waveforms in the Electrical Penetration Graph (EPG). Non-viruliferousRhopalosiphum padi (L.) (Hemiptera, Aphididae) on barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV) infected wheat could acquire the virus, which was used as an indication for phloem sap ingestion, whereas virus inoculation by viruliferous aphids on healthy plants was associated with salivation in sieve elements or other phloem cells. Probing was monitored and the waveforms recorded were related to ELISA results of test plants. The EPG patterns A, B, and C are indicative of the stylet pathway phase, whereas patterns E1 and E2 reflect the phloem (sieve element) phase with an unknown activity (E1) or with ingestion and concurrent salivation (E2). Aphids showing pathway and E1 rarely acquired virus, suggesting that little or no phloem sap ingestion can occur during these patterns, whereas those showing additionally pattern E2 did so substantially, indicating phloem sap ingestion. The main pattern related to virus inoculation was E1, although some aphids were able to inoculate plants during pathway. Pattern E1 clearly reflects the most important salivation into sieve elements. Pattern E2 had no clear contribution to virus inoculation, supporting the present hypothesis that during this pattern the saliva is mixed with the phloem sap in the single canal at the stylet tips and ingested immediately, without reaching the plant tissue. Sustained sap ingestion did not affect virus inoculation. So, BYDV inoculation mainly occurs during the first period of a sieve element puncture which is always formed by E1. Implications on persistent virus transmission are discussed.  相似文献

Effects of nitrogen deficiency in hydroponically grown barley seedlings (Hordeum vulgare L.) on the development and reproduction of the aphid Rhopalosiphum padi (L.) (Hemiptera: Aphididae) were investigated.Plant growth was significantly reduced in seedlings grown without nitrogen. Aphid intrinsic rate of increase (r m) was also significantly lower on these plants compared with that on plants grown with 8 mol m–3 nitrogen. Phloem sap was collected from seedling stems by aphid stylectomy and amino acids quantified by HPLC. There was a significant reduction in the concentration of non-essential amino acids as a group, but not of essential amino acids. Electrical penetration graphs (EPG) indicated that aphids reached the phloem more quickly and fed for longer on plants grown with nitrogen. This is the first reported study in which this combination of techniques has been used to understand the interactions of an aphid and plant under different environmental conditions.  相似文献

To explore the effect of rearing-plant species on the contribution of the symbiotic bacterium, Buchnera, to aphid performance, larvae of Aphis fabae that contained the bacteria (symbiotic aphids) and larvae experimentally deprived of the bacteria (aposymbiotic aphids) were reared on 16 plant species. Mortality of aphids was low on most plant species. The relative growth rate (RGR) of the larvae varied with plant species, and was generally depressed by elimination of the bacteria; the mean values of RGR varied between 0 and 0.29 μg μg−1 day−1 for symbiotic aphids and 0 and 0.17 μg μg−1 day−1 for aposymbiotic aphids. The extent to which RGR was depressed by aposymbiosis varied significantly between plant species, suggesting that aphid host plant may influence the contribution of the bacteria to plant utilisation. It is proposed that the bacteria may be particularly important on plants with phloem sap of high amino acid content of low quality, i.e. low concentrations of essential amino acids. Effects of elevated CO2 on five plant-aphid interactions   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
We investigated interactions between five species of phloem-feeding aphids (Homoptera: Aphididae) and their host plants at elevated CO2; Acyrthosiphon pisum (Harris) on Vicia faba L., Aphis nerii Boyer de Fonscolombe on Asclepias syriaca L., Aphis oenotherae Oestlund on Oenothera biennis L., Aulacorthum solani (Kaltenbach) on Nicotiana sylvestris Speg. & Comes and Myzus persicae (Sulzer) on Solanum dulcamara L. Host plants grown at elevated CO2 generally had greater biomass, leaf area and C:N ratios than those grown at ambient CO2, while plants with aphids had lower biomass and leaf area than those without aphids. The responses of aphid populations to elevated CO2 were species-specific with one species increasing (M. persicae), one decreasing (A. pisum), and the other three being unaffected. CO2 treatment did not affect the proportion of alate individuals produced. In general, aphid abundance was not significantly related to foliar nitrogen concentration. We performed separate analyses to test whether either aphid presence or aphid abundance modified the response of host plants to elevated CO2. In terms of aphid presence, only three of the potential 15 interactions (five aphid species x three plant traits) were significant; A. solani slightly modified the response of the plant biomass to elevated CO2 and M. persicae affected the response of leaf area and allocation. In terms of aphid abundance, only two of the potential 15 interactions were significant with A. nerii modifying the plant response to CO2 in terms of total leaf area and allocation. We conclude that, in contrast to other insect groups such as leaf chewers, populations of most phloem-feeders may not be negatively affected by increased CO2 concentrations in the future. The reasons for this difference include the possibility that aphids may be able to compensate for changes in host plant quality by altering feeding behaviour or by synthesizing amino acids. In addition, there is little evidence that aphid herbivory, even at high levels, will substantially modify the response of plants to elevated CO2.  相似文献

Increasing atmospheric carbon dioxide (ab. CO2) and fertilizer‐nitrogen (ab. N) applications may have marked direct effects on the plant growth of agricultural crops, and in turn affect the higher trophic level of insect herbivores. In this study, the effects of elevated CO2 (i.e., 650 µl/L vs. ambient 400 µl/L) and fertilizer‐N (0, 50, 100, 200 kg/ha) on the population abundances and the inter‐specific competition among three co‐occurring species of wheat aphids, Sitobion avenae, Rhopalosiphum padi and Schizaphis graminum, were studied. The grain weight per ear and the 1,000‐grain weight were generally increased when grown under elevated CO2 and showed a significant effect at the 100 kg/ha (grain weight per ear) and 0, 50 and 100 kg/ha (1,000‐grain weight) N. These two yield indexes increased with increasing fertilizer‐N levels within reasonable limits and reached a maximum at 100 kg/ha. Elevated CO2 combined with fertilizer‐N levels formed complex indirect effects on the three wheat aphids through the wheat crops they fed on. Elevated CO2 significantly decreased the niche overlap index (ab. NOI) between S. avenae and R. padi under 0 and 100 kg/ha and that between R. padi and S. graminum under 0 kg/ha, while significantly increased the three NOIs under 50 kg/ha and that between R. padi and S. graminum under 100 and 200 kg/ha. S. avenae and R. padi had the larger population and stronger competition in low‐N condition (0 and 50 kg/ha), which was harmful to wheat yield and quality when combined with its own poor nutrition. Overall, the 100 kg/ha N level was the best option based on the aphid population, competition and wheat yields. Therefore, the balanced relationship formed among fertilizers, plants and insects under 100 kg/ha N was vital for the interactive ecosystem.  相似文献

Elevated CO2 compromises the resistance of leguminous plants against chewing insects, but little is known about whether elevated CO2 modifies the resistance against phloem‐sucking insects or whether it has contrasting effects on the resistance of legumes that differ in biological nitrogen fixation. We tested the hypothesis that the physical and chemical resistance against aphids would be increased in Jemalong (a wild type of Medicago truncatula) but would be decreased in dnf1 (a mutant without biological nitrogen fixation) by elevated CO2. The non‐glandular and glandular trichome density of Jemalong plants increased under elevated CO2, resulting in prolonged aphid probing. In contrast, dnf1 plants tended to decrease foliar trichome density under elevated CO2, resulting in less surface and epidermal resistance to aphids. Elevated CO2 enhanced the ineffective salicylic acid‐dependent defence pathway but decreased the effective jasmonic acid/ethylene‐dependent defence pathway in aphid‐infested Jemalong plants. Therefore, aphid probing time decreased and the duration of phloem sap ingestion increased on Jemalong under elevated CO2, which, in turn, increased aphid growth rate. Overall, our results suggest that elevated CO2 decreases the chemical resistance of wild‐type M. truncatula against aphids, and that the host's biological nitrogen fixation ability is central to this effect.  相似文献

The concentrations and composition of free amino acids in phloem sap from two cultivars of oats and barley, both susceptible to the aphid Rhopalosiphum padi, were determined by means of high performance liquid chromatography. Sap was collected from excised aphid stylets at three developmental stages (seedlings, tillering plants and plants undergoing stem elongation) from plants given or not given fertiliser and grown outdoors. In connection, the growth of individual R. padi nymphs was estimated at the same phenological stages on plants grown in the greenhouse. The content of free amino acids was consistently higher in seedlings than in plants at the early tillering stage. Only in seedlings did the addition of fertiliser increase amino acid levels. Barley phloem sap contained more free amino acids than that of oats when fertiliser was added and at later developmental stages. Phloem sap of oats and barley showed similar patterns in their composition of free amino acids at the seedling stage, but as the plants grew older the patterns became increasingly different. Plants given fertiliser had higher amounts of dicarboxylic amino acids (glutamic and aspartic acid) than unfertilised plants. The concentrations of γ-amino butyric acid, glycine, histidine, and methionine were very low in all treatments. The relative growth rates of R. padi nymphs were low when amino acid content was low and vice versa. The results are discussed in relation to host plant suitability and plant resistance mechanisms.  相似文献

Rising atmospheric CO2 levels can dilute the nitrogen (N) resource in plant tissue, which is disadvantageous to many herbivorous insects. Aphids appear to be an exception that warrants further study. The effects of elevated CO2 (750 ppm vs. 390 ppm) were evaluated on N assimilation and transamination by two Medicago truncatula genotypes, a N‐fixing‐deficient mutant (dnf1) and its wild‐type control (Jemalong), with and without pea aphid (Acyrthosiphon pisum) infestation. Elevated CO2 increased population abundance and feeding efficiency of aphids fed on Jemalong, but reduced those on dnf1. Without aphid infestation, elevated CO2 increased photosynthetic rate, chlorophyll content, nodule number, biomass, and pod number for Jemalong, but only increased pod number and chlorophyll content for dnf1. Furthermore, aphid infested Jemalong plants had enhanced activities of N assimilation‐related enzymes (glutamine synthetase, Glutamate synthase) and transamination‐related enzymes (glutamate oxalate transaminase, glutamine phenylpyruvate transaminase), which presumably increased amino acid concentration in leaves and phloem sap under elevated CO2. In contrast, aphid infested dnf1 plants had decreased activities of N assimilation‐related enzymes and transmination‐related enzymes and amino acid concentrations under elevated CO2. Furthermore, elevated CO2 up‐regulated expression of genes relevant to amino acid metabolism in bacteriocytes of aphids associated with Jemalong, but down‐regulated those associated with dnf1. Our results suggest that pea aphids actively elicit host responses that promote amino acid metabolism in both the host plant and in its bacteriocytes to favor the population growth of the aphid under elevated CO2.  相似文献

Host plant selection and acceptance by aphids involves four consecutive steps: (1) prealighting behaviour, (2) leaf surface exploration and probing of subepidermal tissues, (3) deep probing of plant tissues, and (4) evaluation of the phloem sap. Host specialisation in aphids may involve not only different performances on potential hosts, but also different strategies for host selection and acceptance. Myzus persicae s.s. (Sulzer) (Homoptera: Aphididae) is one of the most polyphagous aphid species, although a tobacco‐adapted subspecies, M. persicae nicotianae, has been described. These two taxa constitute a good system for studying the effect of host range on host selection strategies. We studied the first two steps in the host selection process by alate virginoparae of M. persicae s.s. and M. persicae nicotianae on host and non‐host plants, using three types of behavioural assays: wind tunnel, olfactometry, and video‐recording. Alate virginoparae of M. persicae nicotianae recognised and chose their host plant more efficiently than M. persicae s.s., on the basis of olfactory and visual cues, and factors residing at cuticular and subcuticular levels. Host recognition was evident before phloem tissues were contacted. Olfactory cues were apparently not involved in host selection by M. persicae s.s.  相似文献

2,4-Dihydroxy-7-methoxy-1,4-benzoxazin-3-one (DIMBOA), a hydroxamic acid (Hx) occurring in wheat, was shown to deter feeding by the aphid Rhopalosiphum padi (L.), and to reduce BYDV transmission to the plant. Dual choice tests with wheat leaves showed the preferential settlement of aphids on leaves with lower levels of DIMBOA. Electric monitoring of aphid feeding behaviour showed that in seedlings with higher DIMBOA levels fewer aphids reached the phloem and they needed longer times to contact a phloem vessel than in those with lower levels. When aphids carrying BYDV were allowed to feed on wheat cultivars with different DIMBOA levels, fewer plants were infected with BYDV in the higher DIMBOA cultivars than in the lower ones. Preliminary field experiments showed a tendency for wheat cultivars with higher Hx levels to be more tolerant to infection by BYDV than lower Hx level ones.  相似文献
