玉米的叶脉在单子叶植物中有一定的代表性,叶脉由四级组成,粗细不同的一、二、三级叶脉均从叶基向叶尖方向延伸,属叶片的纵向叶脉,四级脉横向与一、二、三级叶脉连接,是横向的叶脉,各级叶脉有各自的形成方式,由于它们有规律的分布,从而构成了叶片的输导网络,各级叶脉的发生和发育与叫片的生长有直接的关系。  相似文献

We selected genotypes of high and low B chromosome transmission rate (TR) in a native race of maize (Pisingallo) from northwest Argentina. We made 20 female OB male IB and 20 f.IB m.OB crosses. The former (GOm) showed a large variation of B TR, with a mean of TR ± SE = 0.52 ± 0.06, ranging from 0.17 to 0.98. In the latter (GOf) the mean was TR = 0.47 ± 0.02 ranging from 0.31 to 0.58. Plants showing the highest and the lowest TR were selected to constitute the progenitors of the G1 generations. We made 19 f.0B m.2B crosses, studying 24–30 plants per cross. The TR of the high (H) and low (L) lines in Glm (GlmH and GlmL) significantly differed (TRH = 0.65 ± 0.03, TRL = 0.40 ± 0.01), indicating that the H and L lines are different groups. The large variation in male TR suggests that preferential fertilization of gametes carrying B chromosomes does not always occur. We also selected plants showing high and low TR in the progenies of f.lB m.OB crosses (GOf), and made 24 f.1B m.0B crosses, studying 23–30 plants per cross. The TRs of the H and L lines in G1f (GlfH and GlfL) were significantly different (TRH = 0.48 ± 0.025, TRL = 0.40 ± 0.02). The TRs in G0f and G1fL were significantly different (TR = 0.47 ± 0.02 and 0.40 ± 0.02, respectively), while this was not the case between G0f and G1fH. Our results demonstrate the existence of genotypes controlling B TR in this native population of maize.  相似文献

In previous papers we found that the frequency of B chromosomes in native races of maize varies considerably in different populations. Moreover, we found genotypes that control high and low transmission rates (TR) of B chromosomes in the Pisingallo race. In the present work crosses were made to determine whether the genes controlling B-TR are located on the normal chromosome set (As) or on the B chromosomes (Bs). We made female f.0B × male m.2B crosses between and within high (H) and low (L) B-TR groups. The Bs were transmitted on the male side in all cases. The mean B-TR from the progeny of f.0B (H) × m.2B (H) and f.0B (H) × m.2B (L) crosses was significantly higher than that from f.0B (L) × m.2B (L) and f.0B (L) × m.2B (H) crosses. The results show that the B-TR of the crosses corresponds to the H or L B-TR of the 0B female parents irrespective of the Bs of the male parent. This indicates that B-TR is genetically controlled by the 0B female parent and that these genes are located on the A chromosomes.  相似文献

Twenty-one native populations (1120 individuals) of maize from Northern Argentina were studied. These populations, which belong to 13 native races, were cultivated at different altitudes (80-3620 m). Nineteen of the populations analyzed showed B chromosome (Bs) numerical polymorphism. The frequency of individuals with Bs varied from 0 to 94%. The number of Bs per plant varied from 0 to 8 Bs, with the predominant doses being 0, 1, 2, and 3. Those populations with varying number of Bs showed a positive and statistically significant correlation of mean number of Bs with altitude. The DNA content, in plants without Bs (A-DNA)(2n = 20), of 17 populations of the 21 studied was determined. A 36% variation (5.0-6.8 pg) in A-DNA content was found. A significant negative correlation between A-DNA content and altitude of cultivation and between A-DNA content and mean number of Bs was found. This indicates that there is a close interrelationship between the DNA content of A chromosomes and doses of Bs. These results suggest that there is a maximum limit to the mass of nuclear DNA so that Bs are tolerated as long as this maximum limit is not exceeded.  相似文献

The effects of various environmental conditions on the initiation of tassel branches (NTB) and spikelet‐pairs (NSP) were examined in the stress‐sensitive maize inbred F53. Chilling induced the most important effect, with a dramatic decrease in both NTB and NSP, provided it was applied at the end of the vegetative phase and start of the floral transition phase. The primary cause of chilling‐induced abortion of the tassel branches could be oxidative stress in the leaves, since lowering light irradiance during chilling greatly reduced the effect of cold. The comparison of inbreds F53 and F2 revealed that both genotypes exhibited a similar period of cold sensitivity at the floral transition phase, although F2 was considered from field observations as a stress‐insensitive genotype (at least for tassel development). However, our results also showed a chilling acclimation response in inbred F2 but not in inbred F53. The similarities with the work by Lejeune & Bernier (1996 Plant, Cell and Environment 19, 217–224.) concerning the effect of chilling on ear initiation in the sensitive inbred, B22, are emphasized.  相似文献

以玉米品种“粤单9117”为材料,研究了种子发育过程中萌发能力和耐脱水能力的获得。玉米种子的生理成熟期约为43DAP(授粉后天数)。胚萌发能力的获得是在14-21DAP、耐脱水能力的获得出现在25-28DAP。胚的耐脱水能力在28DAP后仍不断得到加强。耐脱水能力的获得与细胞膜的发育及受保护的程度密切相关。脱水有利于不同发育时期的胚和种子的萌发。  相似文献

Knobs are blocks of heterochromatin present on chromosomes of maize (Zea mays L.) and its relatives that have effects on the frequency of genetic recombination, as well as on chromosome behavior.Knob heterozygosity and instability in six maize inbred lines and one Z. diploperennis Iltis Doebley line were investigated using the fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) technique with knob-associated tandem repeats (180 bp and 350 bp (TR-1)) as probes. Signals of seven heterozygous knobs containing 180-bp repeats and of one heterozygous knob containing TR- 1 were captured in chromosomes of all materials tested according to the results of FISH, which demonstrates that the 180-bp repeat is the main contributor to knob heterozygosity compared with the TR-1 element. In addition, one target cell with two TR-1 signals on one homolog of chromosome 2L, which was different from the normal cells in the maize inbred line GB57,was observed, suggesting knob duplication and an instability phenomenon in the maize genome.  相似文献

The effects of environmental conditions on ear-shoot initiation have been investigated in three inbred genotypes of Zea mays L. which are used for seed production. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and binocular examination during the vegetative phase showed that axillary meristems are initiated at the same rate as the leaf primordia on the apical meristem, but with a delay of 5.6–7.0 plastochrons, depending on the genotype. Furthermore, the topmost axillary meristem is initiated on the same day as the tassel, whatever the genotype. One of the inbreds (B22) used in this study has been reported to exhibit, in field conditions, a reproductive failure affecting car initiation, causing the topmost car to be replaced at maturity by a sterile, leaf-like, structure. Scanning electron microscopic study of the formation of the abnormal axillary buds indicated that ear failure resulted from the early collapse of the axillary meristem followed by elongation of the prophyll or of the meristem itself. Using controlled environments, ear abortion was mimicked by a chilling treatment (10°C), given just before tassel initiation. Other factors, such as high irradiance and flooding, enhanced the abortive response. The critical stage for the main car was just before the initiation of the topmost axillary meristem which also corresponded to tassel initiation. Chilling the plants before or after tassel initiation either induced an acclimation response or had no effect. The three inbreds showed differential responses to the stress treatment, indicating that a genetic factor is implicated as well. It is suggested that chilling causes a perturbation of apical dominance which, in the responsive genotypes, represses axillary meristem development. The use of a stress-sensitive inbred such as B22 as a model system could yield some interesting clues to the mechanism of endogenous control of ear initiation in maize.  相似文献

Salt tolerance of maize (Zea mays L.): the role of sodium exclusion   总被引:5,自引:2,他引:3  
The influence of NaCl and Na2SO4 on growth of two maize cultivars (Zea mays cv. Pioneer 3906 and cv. Across 8023) differing in Na+ uptake was investigated in two green-house experiments. Na+ treatment with different accompanying anions (Cl?/SO42?) showed that ion toxicity was caused by Na+. While shoot growth of the two cultivars was markedly affected by salt in comparison to the control during the first 2–3 weeks, there were only slight differences between the cultivars. The shoot Ca2+ concentration was reduced in both cultivars, and the youngest leaves contained an even lower concentration compared with the rest of the shoot. During this first phase, Across 8023 tended to have higher concentrations of Ca2+ than Pioneer 3906. The Na+-excluding cultivar Pioneer 3906 showed continuous, although reduced, growth compared with the control, while the Na+ concentration in the shoot decreased until flowering. Cultivar Across 8023 accumulated Na+ until flowering: the reduction in the growth of stressed plants was greater than that for Pioneer 3906. Leaves of cultivar Across 8023 showed clear toxic symptoms, while those of the more salt-tolerant cultivar Pioneer 3906 did not. It is concluded that Na+ exclusion contributes to the salt tolerance of maize.  相似文献

The formation of lysigenous cavities (aerenchyma) in the root cortex of maize, Zea mays L. cv. Capella, under well-aerated conditions has been studied in relation to the composition of the nutrient solutions. Nitrogen, either supplied as nitrate or as ammonium, reduced the cavity formation by the roots. This reduction was most apparent at nitrate concentrations above 2 mM. Cavities were increasingly formed when the nitrate concentration was decreased and they reached their largest dimensions in roots growing in water. Thus, inadequate availability of nitrogen leads, under acrated conditions, to deterioration of cortex cells and cavity formation in the maize roots. It is suggested that cavity formation in these roots is connected with reduced nitrogen assimilation.  相似文献

玉米根系分泌较多的植物粘胶 ,用 0 .0 1%中性红溶液使粘胶染成红色。 30 μmol/L的AlCl3 处理根系 1h后 ,不除去粘胶的根尖的铝含量大于除去粘胶的根尖的铝含量。粘胶的铝含量随着处理的铝浓度的增加而增加。用高效液相色谱仪能使粘胶 铝复合物分离成均含糖和铝的两种组分。 5 μmol/L的AlCl3 处理根系 2 4h后 ,粘胶中积累了铝诱导分泌的有机酸。粘胶中含有酸性磷酸酶 ,它的活性随着处理的铝浓度的增加而降低。这些结果证明了植物粘胶能够和铝结合、粘胶液滴能够积累有机酸及磷酸酶的假说  相似文献

The effect of irradiance on changes in photosynthesis, free amino acids and polyamines was investigated. Two-week-old maize ( Zea mays L.) plants were chilled at 5°C in the light (250 μmol m−2 s−1 PAR) or dark. The chlorophyll fluorescence ratio, Fv/Fm, decreased in the light by ca 50% but did not change in the dark. Similarly to the Fv/Fm, there was no change in the transpiration rate or the stomatal conductance in the dark, while these parameters decreased by ca 55% in the light. The net photosynthesis rate declined in both cases, but to a far greater extent in the light (73%) than in the dark (40%). The intercellular CO2 partial pressure increased by ca 50% in all cases. The free amino acid contents increased compared to the control during the cold treatment. In most cases this increase was more pronounced in the light than in the dark. There was a continuous increase in the putrescine level, which was more pronounced in the light than in the dark. The spermidine content increased one and a half times after one day in the light but decreased by 70% in the dark compared to the control values. From the second day a 50% decline in the spermidine content was observed in the light and an 80% decline in the dark. These results suggest that light has an influence not only on the photosynthetic processes during chilling stress but also on other stress markers such as polyamines and free amino acids.  相似文献

采用体外血浆复钙时间法,以维生素k1作为促凝血和灯盏花素作为抗凝血作用阳性对照,对玉蜀黍轴及苞叶石油醚、乙酸乙酯和正丁醇提取物及玉蜀黍苞叶甲醇总浸膏对体外血浆复钙时间的影响进行测定。结果显示玉蜀黍轴正丁醇及苞叶乙酸乙酯提取物,均可显著缩短体外血浆复钙时间(P<0.001);玉蜀黍苞叶石油醚提取物可显著延长体外血浆复钙时间(P<0.001)。提示玉蜀黍轴正丁醇及苞叶乙酸乙酯提取物具有较好的促凝血活性,玉蜀黍苞叶石油醚提取物具有较好的抗凝作用。  相似文献

We investigated the change of root net proton excretion of seedlings of Triticum aestivum L. and Zea mays L. with daily variation of illumination using a multi-channel pH-stat system. We found an increase of net proton excretion during darkness and a drop after the beginning of illumination. Inhibition of carotenoid biosynthesis by norflurazone and photooxidation of chlorophylls did not change the periodicity or its induction. The induction of diurnal periodicity was possible with blue, green and red light. After induction the oscillation of net proton excretion continued for at least two cycles under constant light. We conclude that net H+ excretion of wheat and maize roots may be regulated by an endogenous clock or by a signal from the leaves. The nature of such a hypothetical signal remains unknown.  相似文献

Maize (Zea mays L.) is a commercially important crop. Its yield can be reduced by mutations in biosynthetic and degradative pathways that cause death. In this paper, we describe the necrotic leaf (nec-t) mutant, which was obtained from an inbred line, 81647. The nec-t mutant plants had yellow leaves with necrotic spots, reduced chlorophyll content, and the etiolated seedlings died under normal growth conditions. Transmission electron microscopy revealed scattered thylakoids, and reduced numbers of grana lamellae and chloroplasts per cell. Histochemical staining suggested that spot formation of nec-t leaves might be due to cell death. Genetic analysis showed that necrosis was caused by the mutation of a recessive locus. Using simple sequence repeat markers, the Nec-t gene was mapped between mmc0111 and bnlg2277 on the short arm of chromosome 2. A total of 1287 individuals with the mutant phenotype from a F2 population were used for physical mapping. The Nec-t gene was located between markers T31 and H8 within a physical region of 131.7 kb.  相似文献

Chloroplast transglutaminase (chlTGase) activity is considered to play a significant role in response to a light stimulus and photo‐adaptation of plants, but its precise function in the chloroplast is unclear. The characterisation, at the proteomic level, of the chlTGase interaction with thylakoid proteins and demonstration of its association with photosystem II (PSII) protein complexes was accomplished with experiments using maize thylakoid protein extracts. By means of a specific antibody designed against the C‐terminal sequence of the maize TGase gene product, different chlTGase forms were immunodetected in thylakoid membrane extracts from three different stages of maize chloroplast differentiation. These bands co‐localised with those of lhcb 1, 2 and 3 antenna proteins. The most significant, a 58 kDa form present in mature chloroplasts, was characterised using biochemical and proteomic approaches. Sequential fractionation of thylakoid proteins from light‐induced mature chloroplasts showed that the 58 kDa form was associated with the thylakoid membrane, behaving as a soluble or peripheral membrane protein. Two‐dimensional gel electrophoresis discriminated, for the first time, the 58‐kDa band in two different forms, probably corresponding to the two different TGase cDNAs previously cloned. Electrophoretic separation of thylakoid proteins in native gels, followed by LC‐MS mass spectrometry identification of protein complexes indicated that maize chlTGase forms part of a specific PSII protein complex, which includes LHCII, ATPase and pSbS proteins. The results are discussed in relation to the interaction between these proteins and the suggested role of the enzyme in thylakoid membrane organisation and photoprotection.  相似文献

Background and Aims

Formation of root cortical aerenchyma (RCA) can be induced by nutrient deficiency. In species adapted to aerobic soil conditions, this response is adaptive by reducing root maintenance requirements, thereby permitting greater soil exploration. One trade-off of RCA formation may be reduced radial transport of nutrients due to reduction in living cortical tissue. To test this hypothesis, radial nutrient transport in intact roots of maize (Zea mays) was investigated in two radiolabelling experiments employing genotypes with contrasting RCA.

Methods

In the first experiment, time-course dynamics of phosphate loading into the xylem were measured from excised nodal roots that varied in RCA formation. In the second experiment, uptake of phosphate, calcium and sulphate was measured in seminal roots of intact young plants in which variation in RCA was induced by treatments altering ethylene action or genetic differences.

Key Results

In each of three paired genotype comparisons, the rate of phosphate exudation of high-RCA genotypes was significantly less than that of low-RCA genotypes. In the second experiment, radial nutrient transport of phosphate and calcium was negatively correlated with the extent of RCA for some genotypes.

Conclusions

The results support the hypothesis that RCA can reduce radial transport of some nutrients in some genotypes, which could be an important trade-off of this trait.  相似文献
