A novel two-helper-strain co-culture system (TSCS) was developed to enhance 2-keto-l-gulonic acid (2-KLG) productivity for vitamin C production. Bacillus megaterium and B. cereus (with a seeding culture ratio of 1:3, v/v), used as helper strains, increased the 2-KLG yield using Ketogulonigenium vulgare compared to the conventional one-helper-strain (either B. cereus or B. megaterium) co-culture system (OSCS). After 45 h cultivation, 2-KLG concentration in the TSCS (69 g l?1) increased by 8.9 and 7 % over that of the OSCS (B. cereus: 63.4 g l?1; B. megaterium: 64.5 g l?1). The fermentation period of TSCS was 4 h shorter than that of OSCS (B. cereus). The increased cell numbers of K. vulgare stimulated by the two helper strains possibly explain the enhanced 2-KLG yield. The results imply that TSCS is a viable method for enhancing industrial production of 2-KLG.  相似文献

We set out to analyze the sequence diversity of the Bacillus thuringiensis flagellin (H antigen [Hag]) protein and compare it with H serotype diversity. Some other Bacillus cereus sensu lato species and strains were added for comparison. The internal sequences of the flagellin (hag) alleles from 80 Bacillus thuringiensis strains and 16 strains from the B. cereus sensu lato group were amplified and cloned, and their nucleotide sequences were determined and translated into amino acids. The flagellin allele nucleotide sequences for 10 additional strains were retrieved from GenBank for a total of 106 Bacillus species and strains used in this study. These included 82 B. thuringiensis strains from 67 H serotypes, 5 B. cereus strains, 3 Bacillus anthracis strains, 3 Bacillus mycoides strains, 11 Bacillus weihenstephanensis strains, 1 Bacillus halodurans strain, and 1 Bacillus subtilis strain. The first 111 and the last 66 amino acids were conserved. They were referred to as the C1 and C2 regions, respectively. The central region, however, was highly variable and is referred to as the V region. Two bootstrapped neighbor-joining trees were generated: a first one from the alignment of the translated amino acid sequences of the amplified internal sequences of the hag alleles and a second one from the alignment of the V region amino acid sequences, respectively. Of the eight clusters revealed in the tree inferred from the entire C1-V-C2 region amino acid sequences, seven were present in corresponding clusters in the tree inferred from the V region amino acid sequences. With regard to B. thuringiensis, in most cases, different serovars had different flagellin amino acid sequences, as might have been expected. Surprisingly, however, some different B. thuringiensis serovars shared identical flagellin amino acid sequences. Likewise, serovars from the same H serotypes were most often found clustered together, with exceptions. Indeed, some serovars from the same H serotype carried flagellins with sufficiently different amino acid sequences as to be located on distant clusters. Species-wise, B. halodurans, B. subtilis, and B. anthracis formed specific branches, whereas the other four species, all in the B. cereus sensu lato group, B. mycoides, B. weihenstephanensis, B. cereus, and B. thuringiensis, did not form four specific clusters as might have been expected. Rather, strains from any of these four species were placed side by side with strains from the other species. In the B. cereus sensu lato group, B. anthracis excepted, the distribution of strains was not species specific.  相似文献

Background

The first step of the bacterial lifecycle is the germination of bacterial spores into their vegetative form, which requires the presence of specific nutrients. In contrast to closely related Bacillus anthracis spores, Bacillus cereus spores germinate in the presence of a single germinant, inosine, yet with a significant lag period.

Methods and Findings

We found that the initial lag period of inosine-treated germination of B. cereus spores disappeared in the presence of supernatants derived from already germinated spores. The lag period also dissipated when inosine was supplemented with the co-germinator alanine. In fact, HPLC-based analysis revealed the presence of amino acids in the supernatant of germinated B. cereus spores. The released amino acids included alanine in concentrations sufficient to promote rapid germination of inosine-treated spores. The alanine racemase inhibitor D-cycloserine enhanced germination of B. cereus spores, presumably by increasing the L-alanine concentration in the supernatant. Moreover, we found that B. cereus spores lacking the germination receptors gerI and gerQ did not germinate and release amino acids in the presence of inosine. These mutant spores, however, germinated efficiently when inosine was supplemented with alanine. Finally, removal of released amino acids in a washout experiment abrogated inosine-mediated germination of B. cereus spores.

Conclusions

We found that the single germinant inosine is able to trigger a two-tier mechanism for inosine-mediated germination of B. cereus spores: Inosine mediates the release of alanine, an essential step to complete the germination process. Therefore, B. cereus spores appear to have developed a unique quorum-sensing feedback mechanism to monitor spore density and to coordinate germination.  相似文献

The nonhemolytic enterotoxin (Nhe) is one of the two three-component enterotoxins which are responsible for diarrheal food poisoning syndrome caused by Bacillus cereus. To facilitate the detection of this toxin, consisting of the subunits NheA, NheB, and NheC, a complete set of high-affinity antibodies against each of the three components was established and characterized. A rabbit antiserum specific for the C-terminal part (15 amino acids) of NheC was produced using a respective synthetic peptide coupled to a protein carrier for immunization. Using purified B. cereus exoprotein preparations as immunogens, one monoclonal antibody against NheA and several antibodies against NheB were obtained. No cross-reactivity with other proteins produced by different strains of B. cereus was observed. Antibodies against the NheB component were able to neutralize the cytotoxic activity (up to 98%) of Nhe. Based on indirect enzyme immunoassays, the antibodies developed in this study were successfully used in the characterization of the enterotoxic activity of several B. cereus strains. For the first time, it could be shown that strains carrying the nhe genes usually express the complete set of the three components, including NheC. However, the amount of toxin produced varies considerably between the different strains.  相似文献

Bacillus cereus is an endospore-forming, Gram-positive bacterium able to cause foodborne diseases. Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) are known for their ability to synthesize organic acids and bacteriocins, but the potential of these compounds against B. cereus has been scarcely documented in food models. The present study has examined the effect of the metabolites produced by Lactobacillus johnsonii CRL1647 and Enterococcus faecium SM21 on the viability of select B. cereus strains. Furthermore, the effect of E. faecium SM21 metabolites against B. cereus strains has also been investigated on a rice food model. L. johnsonii CRL1647 produced 128 mmol/L of lactic acid, 38 mmol/L of acetic acid and 0.3 mmol/L of phenyl-lactic acid. These organic acids reduced the number of vegetative cells and spores of the B. cereus strains tested. However, the antagonistic effect disappeared at pH 6.5. On the other hand, E. faecium SM21 produced only lactic and acetic acid (24.5 and 12.2 mmol/L, respectively) and was able to inhibit both vegetative cells and spores of the B. cereus strains, at a final fermentation pH of 5.0 and at pH 6.5. This would indicate the action of other metabolites, different from organic acids, present in the cell-free supernatant. On cooked rice grains, the E. faecium SM21 bacteriocin(s) were tested against two B. cereus strains. Both of them were significantly affected within the first 4 h of contact; whereas B. cereus BAC1 cells recovered after 24 h, the effect on B. cereus 1 remained up to the end of the assay. The LAB studied may thus be considered to define future strategies for biological control of B. cereus.  相似文献

Previous research in our laboratory revealed that the introduction of Bacillus cereus UW85 can increase the populations of bacteria from the Cytophaga-Flavobacterium (CF) group of the Bacteroidetes phylum in the soybean rhizosphere, suggesting that these rhizosphere microorganisms have a beneficial relationship (G. S. Gilbert, J. L. Parke, M. K. Clayton, and J. Handelsman, Ecology 74:840-854, 1993). In the present study, we determined the frequency at which CF bacteria coisolated with B. cereus strains from the soybean rhizosphere and the mechanism by which B. cereus stimulates the growth of CF rhizosphere strains in root exudate media. In three consecutive years of sampling, CF strains predominated among coisolates obtained with B. cereus isolates from field-grown soybean roots. In root exudate media, the presence of B. cereus was required for CF coisolate strains to reach high population density. However, rhizosphere isolates from the phylum Proteobacteria grew equally well in the presence and absence of B. cereus, and the presence of CF coisolates did not affect the growth of B. cereus. Peptidoglycan isolated from B. cereus cultures stimulated growth of the CF rhizosphere bacterium Flavobacterium johnsoniae, although culture supernatant from B. cereus grown in root exudate media did not. These results suggest B. cereus and CF rhizosphere bacteria have a commensal relationship in which peptidoglycan produced by B. cereus stimulates the growth of CF bacteria.  相似文献

In the two-step fermentative production of vitamin C, its precursor 2-keto-l-gulonic acid (2-KLG) was synthesized by Ketogulonicigenium vulgare through co-culture with Bacillus megaterium. The reconstruction of the amino acid metabolic pathway through completed genome sequence annotation demonstrated that K. vulgare was deficient in one or more key enzymes in the de novo biosynthesis pathways of eight different amino acids (l-histidine, l-glycine, l-lysine, l-proline, l-threonine, l-methionine, l-leucine, and l-isoleucine). Among them, l-glycine, l-proline, l-threonine, and l-isoleucine play vital roles in K. vulgare growth and 2-KLG production. The addition of those amino acids increased the 2-KLG productivity by 20.4%, 17.2%, 17.2%, and 11.8%, respectively. Furthermore, food grade gelatin was developed as a substitute for the amino acids to increase the cell concentration, 2-KLG productivity, and l-sorbose consumption rate by 10.2%, 23.4%, and 20.9%, respectively. As a result, the fermentation period decreased to 43 h in a 7-L fermentor.  相似文献

A fluorogenic probe-based PCR assay was developed and evaluated for its utility in detecting Bacillus cereus in nonfat dry milk. Regions of the hemolysin and cereolysin AB genes from an initial group of two B. cereus isolates and two Bacillus thuringiensis isolates were cloned and sequenced. Three single-base differences in two B. cereus strains were identified in the cereolysin AB gene at nucleotides 866, 875, and 1287, while there were no species-consistent differences found in the hemolysin gene. A fluorogenic probe-based PCR assay was developed which utilizes the 5′-to-3′ exonuclease of Taq polymerase, and two fluorogenic probes were evaluated. One fluorogenic probe (cerTAQ-1) was designed to be specific for the nucleotide differences at bases 866 and 875 found in B. cereus. A total of 51 out of 72 B. cereus strains tested positive with the cerTAQ-1 probe, while only 1 out of 5 B. thuringiensis strains tested positive. Sequence analysis of the negative B. cereus strains revealed additional polymorphism found in the cereolysin probe target. A second probe (cerTAQ-2) was designed to account for additional polymorphic sequences found in the cerTAQ-1-negative B. cereus strains. A total of 35 out of 39 B. cereus strains tested positive (including 10 of 14 previously negative strains) with cerTAQ-2, although the assay readout was uniformly lower with this probe than with cerTAQ-1. A PCR assay using cerTAQ-1 was able to detect approximately 58 B. cereus CFU in 1 g of artificially contaminated nonfat dry milk. Forty-three nonfat dry milk samples were tested for the presence of B. cereus with the most-probable-number technique and the fluorogenic PCR assay. Twelve of the 43 samples were contaminated with B. cereus at levels greater than or equal to 43 CFU/g, and all 12 of these samples tested positive with the fluorogenic PCR assay. Of the remaining 31 samples, 12 were B. cereus negative and 19 were contaminated with B. cereus at levels ranging from 3 to 9 CFU/g. All 31 of these samples were negative in the fluorogenic PCR assay. Although not totally inclusive, the PCR-based assay with cerTAQ-1 is able to specifically detect B. cereus in nonfat dry milk.  相似文献

Many microbial consortia are established upon metabolic interactions. Elucidating such interactions is a priority in understanding the population dynamics of these microbial consortia. In this study, we investigated the interaction dynamics of the vitamin C biosynthesis consortium comprising of Ketogulonicigenium vulgare and Bacillus megaterium. We systematically quantified the dynamic evolution of the ecosystem??s population and metabolism in response to a wide range of seeding concentrations and compositions of the two microorganisms. The consortium population dynamics was determined by quantitative PCR. The metabolomic profile of the community was systematically investigated by gas chromatography coupled with time-of-flight mass spectrometry. Our results showed that B. megaterium was responsible for initiating the reproduction of K. vulgare, meanwhile, K. vulgare could promote the growth of B. megaterium. Principal component analysis of the metabolomic profiling elucidated variations of intermediates in central carbon metabolism, nucleotide and amino acids metabolism in this microbial consortium. These findings provided new insights into the characterization of the community dynamics and the optimization of co-culture fermentation for vitamin C biosynthesis.  相似文献

In this paper, the sensitivity of food spoilage organisms (Bacillus cereus; Escherichia coli) to natural antimicrobial peptides (surfactin; polylysine; nisin) from microorganism was observed, and the optimization of antimicrobial effect in meat evaluated by a RSM was studied. Results showed that these strains were sensitive to them. MICs of surfactin and polylysine and nisin were 31.25 and 312.5 and 312.5???g/mL respectively against B. cereus, and MIC were 15.625 and 156.25 and 2,500???g/mL respectively against E. coli. The optimization result indicated that B. cereus and E. coli could be sterilized by six log cycles when the temperature was 14.05?°C, the action time was 10.95?h, and the concentration (surfactin/polylysine/nisin weight ratio 0.1:1:2) was 379.53???g/mL.  相似文献

Members of the Bacillus cereus group contain cell wall carbohydrates that vary in their glycosyl compositions. Recent multilocus sequence typing (MLST) refined the relatedness of B. cereus group members by separating them into clades and lineages. Based on MLST, we selected several B. anthracis, B. cereus, and B. thuringiensis strains and compared their cell wall carbohydrates. The cell walls of different B. anthracis strains (clade 1/Anthracis) were composed of glucose (Glc), galactose (Gal), N-acetyl mannosamine (ManNAc), and N-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc). In contrast, the cell walls from clade 2 strains (B. cereus type strain ATCC 14579 and B. thuringiensis strains) lacked Gal and contained N-acetylgalactosamine (GalNAc). The B. cereus clade 1 strains had cell walls that were similar in composition to B. anthracis in that they all contained Gal. However, the cell walls from some clade 1 strains also contained GalNAc, which was not present in B. anthracis cell walls. Three recently identified clade 1 strains of B. cereus that caused severe pneumonia, i.e., strains 03BB102, 03BB87, and G9241, had cell wall compositions that closely resembled those of the B. anthracis strains. It was also observed that B. anthracis strains cell wall glycosyl compositions differed from one another in a plasmid-dependent manner. When plasmid pXO2 was absent, the ManNAc/Gal ratio decreased, while the Glc/Gal ratio increased. Also, deletion of atxA, a global regulatory gene, from a pXO2 strain resulted in cell walls with an even greater level of Glc.  相似文献

Anthrax is a fatal disease caused by strains of Bacillus anthracis. Members of this monophyletic species are non motile and are all characterized by the presence of four prophages and a nonsense mutation in the plcR regulator gene. Here we report the complete genome sequence of a Bacillus strain isolated from a chimpanzee that had died with clinical symptoms of anthrax. Unlike classic B. anthracis, this strain was motile and lacked the four prohages and the nonsense mutation. Four replicons were identified, a chromosome and three plasmids. Comparative genome analysis revealed that the chromosome resembles those of non-B. anthracis members of the Bacillus cereus group, whereas two plasmids were identical to the anthrax virulence plasmids pXO1 and pXO2. The function of the newly discovered third plasmid with a length of 14 kbp is unknown. A detailed comparison of genomic loci encoding key features confirmed a higher similarity to B. thuringiensis serovar konkukian strain 97-27 and B. cereus E33L than to B. anthracis strains. For the first time we describe the sequence of an anthrax causing bacterium possessing both anthrax plasmids that apparently does not belong to the monophyletic group of all so far known B. anthracis strains and that differs in important diagnostic features. The data suggest that this bacterium has evolved from a B. cereus strain independently from the classic B. anthracis strains and established a B. anthracis lifestyle. Therefore we suggest to designate this isolate as “B. cereus variety (var.) anthracis”.  相似文献

Strain BCT-7112T was isolated in 1966 in Japan from a survey designed to obtain naturally occurring microorganisms as pure cultures in the laboratory for use as probiotics in animal nutrition. This strain, which was primarily identified as Bacillus cereus var toyoi, has been in use for more than 30 years as the active ingredient of the preparation TOYOCERIN®, an additive for use in animal nutrition (e.g. swine, poultry, cattle, rabbits and aquaculture). Despite the fact that the strain was initially classified as B. cereus, it showed significant genomic differences from the type strains of the B. cereus group that were large enough (ANI values below 92%) to allow it to be considered as a different species within the group. The polyphasic taxonomic study presented here provides sufficient discriminative parameters to classify BCT-7112T as a new species for which the name Bacillus toyonensis sp. nov. is proposed, with BCT-7112T (=CECT 876T; =NCIMB 14858T) being designated as the type strain. In addition, a pairwise comparison between the available genomes of the whole B. cereus group by means of average nucleotide identity (ANI) calculations indicated that besides the eight classified species (including B. toyonensis), additional genomospecies could be detected, and most of them also had ANI values below 94%. ANI values were on the borderline of a species definition only in the cases of representatives of B. cereus versus B. thuringiensis, and B. mycoides and B. weihenstephanensis.  相似文献

Bacillus anthracis, Bacillus cereus, and Bacillus thuringiensis are closely related gram-positive, spore-forming bacteria of the B. cereus sensu lato group. While independently derived strains of B. anthracis reveal conspicuous sequence homogeneity, environmental isolates of B. cereus and B. thuringiensis exhibit extensive genetic diversity. Here we report the sequencing and comparative analysis of the genomes of two members of the B. cereus group, B. thuringiensis 97-27 subsp. konkukian serotype H34, isolated from a necrotic human wound, and B. cereus E33L, which was isolated from a swab of a zebra carcass in Namibia. These two strains, when analyzed by amplified fragment length polymorphism within a collection of over 300 of B. cereus, B. thuringiensis, and B. anthracis isolates, appear closely related to B. anthracis. The B. cereus E33L isolate appears to be the nearest relative to B. anthracis identified thus far. Whole-genome sequencing of B. thuringiensis 97-27and B. cereus E33L was undertaken to identify shared and unique genes among these isolates in comparison to the genomes of pathogenic strains B. anthracis Ames and B. cereus G9241 and nonpathogenic strains B. cereus ATCC 10987 and B. cereus ATCC 14579. Comparison of these genomes revealed differences in terms of virulence, metabolic competence, structural components, and regulatory mechanisms.  相似文献

Polymorphism of five tandem repeats that are monomorphic in Bacillus anthracis was investigated in 230 isolates of the B. cereus group and in 5 sequenced B. cereus genomes in search for markers allowing identification of B. cereus and B. thuringiensis strains most closely related to B. anthracis. Using this multiple-locus variable number of tandem repeat analysis (MLVA), a cluster of 30 strains was selected for further characterization. Eventually, six of these were characterized by multilocus sequence type analysis. One of the strains is only six point mutations (of almost 3,000 bp) away from B. anthracis and was also proposed to be closest to B. anthracis by MLVA analysis. However, this strain remains separated from B. anthracis by a number of significant genetic events observed in B. anthracis, including the loss of the hemolysin activity, the presence of four prophages, and the presence of the two virulence plasmids, pXO1 and pXO2. One particular minisatellite marker provides an efficient assay to identify the subset of B. cereus and B. thuringiensis strains closely related to B. anthracis. Based on these results, a very simple assay is proposed that allows the screening of hundreds of strains from the B. cereus complex, with modest equipment and at a low cost, to eventually fill the gap with B. anthracis and better understand the origin and making of this dangerous pathogen.  相似文献

We previously demonstrated a genetic basis in tomato for support of the growth of a biological control agent, Bacillus cereus UW85, in the spermosphere after seed inoculation (K. P. Smith, J. Handelsman, and R. M. Goodman, Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 96:4786–4790, 1999). Here we report results of studies examining the host effect on the support of growth of Bacillus and Pseudomonas strains, both inoculated on seeds and recruited from soil, using selected inbred tomato lines from the recombinant inbred line (RIL) population used in our previous study. Two tomato lines, one previously found to support high and the other low growth of B. cereus UW85 in the spermosphere, had similar effects on growth of each of a diverse, worldwide collection of 24 B. cereus strains that were inoculated on seeds and planted in sterilized vermiculite. In contrast, among RILs that differed for support of B. cereus UW85 growth in the spermosphere, we found no difference for support of growth of the biocontrol strains Pseudomonas fluorescens 2-79 or Pseudomonas aureofaciens AB254. Thus, while the host effect on growth extended to all strains of B. cereus examined, it was not exerted on other bacterial species tested. When seeds were inoculated with a marked mutant of B. cereus UW85 and planted in soil, RIL-dependent high and low support of bacterial growth was observed that was similar to results from experiments conducted in sterilized vermiculite. When uninoculated seeds from two of these RILs were planted in soil, changes in population levels of indigenous Bacillus and fluorescent Pseudomonas bacteria differed, as measured over time by culturing and direct microscopy, from growth patterns observed in the inoculation experiments. Neither RIL supported detectable levels of growth of indigenous Bacillus soil bacteria, while the line that supported growth of inoculated B. cereus UW85 supported higher growth of indigenous fluorescent pseudomonads and total bacteria. The vermiculite system used in these experiments was predictive for growth of B. cereus UW85 inoculated on seeds and grown in soil, but the patterns of growth of inoculated strains—both Bacillus and Pseudomonas spp.—did not reflect host genotype effects on indigenous microflora recruited from soil to the spermosphere.  相似文献

One hundred and thirty-seven strains of Bacillus thuringiensis and 35 strains of Bacillus cereus were tested for the presence or absence of 99 traits. An analysis of these data indicated that strains of B. thuringiensis were indistinguishable from B. cereus, except for their ability to produce parasporal crystals. This conclusion was based on a comparison of the phenotypic properties of B. thuringiensis and B. cereus, as well as on the results of numerical analyses of the data which grouped strains into clusters on the basis of phenotypic similarity. In the resulting dendrograms, strains of B. thuringiensis and B. cereus were interspersed, exhibiting no tendency to segregate. In addition, with the exception of serovar israelensis, strains on B. thuringiensis belonging to the same flagellar serovar showed little or no tendency to group in different clusters. A comparison of the phenotypic differences between serovars indicated that the greater the number of strains in the serovars, the fewer, if any, phenotypic traits separating them. This suggests that the properties reported to differentiate serovars can be attributed to the internal phenotypic diversity of the species. Characterization of 10 mosquitocidal strains of Bacillus sphaericus indicated that the traits employed in this study readily distinguished these highly related organisms from strains of B. thuringiensis and B. cereus.  相似文献

Bacillus cereus strains that are genetically closely related to B. anthracis can display anthrax-like virulence traits (A. R. Hoffmaster et al., Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 101:8449-8454, 2004). Hence, approaches that rapidly identify these “near neighbors” are of great interest for the study of B. anthracis virulence mechanisms, as well as to prevent the use of such strains for B. anthracis-based bioweapon development. Here, a strategy is proposed for the identification of near neighbors of B. anthracis based on single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) in the 16S-23S rRNA intergenic spacer (ITS) containing tRNA genes, characteristic of B. anthracis. By using restriction site insertion-PCR (RSI-PCR) the presence of two SNP typical of B. anthracis was screened in 126 B. cereus group strains of different origin. Two B. cereus strains and one B. thuringiensis strain showed RSI-PCR profiles identical to that of B. anthracis. The sequencing of the entire ITS containing tRNA genes revealed two of the strains to be identical to B. anthracis. The strict relationship with B. anthracis was confirmed by multilocus sequence typing (MLST) of four other independent loci: cerA, plcR, AC-390, and SG-749. The relationship to B. anthracis of the three strains described by MLST was comparable and even higher to that of four B. cereus strains associated with periodontitis in humans and previously reported as the closest known strains to B. anthracis. SNP in ITS containing tRNA genes combined with RSI-PCR provide a very efficient tool for the identification of strains closely related to B. anthracis.  相似文献

Bacillus thuringiensis and Bacillus cereus belong to the B. cereus species group. The two species share substantial chromosomal similarity and differ mostly in their plasmid content. The phylogenetic relationship between these species remains a matter of debate. There is genetic exchange both within and between these species, and current evidence indicates that insects are a particularly suitable environment for the growth of and genetic exchange between these species. We investigated the conjugation efficiency of B. thuringiensis var. kurstaki KT0 (pHT73-EmR) as a donor and a B. thuringiensis and several B. cereus strains as recipients; we used one-recipient and two-recipient conjugal transfer systems in vitro (broth and filter) and in Bombyx mori larvae, and assessed multiplication following conjugation between Bacillus strains. The B. thuringiensis KT0 strain did not show preference for genetic exchange with the B. thuringiensis recipient strain over that with the B. cereus recipient strains. However, B. thuringiensis strains germinated and multiplied more efficiently than B. cereus strains in insect larvae and only B. thuringiensis maintained complete spore germination for at least 24 h in B. mori larvae. These findings show that there is no positive association between bacterial multiplication efficiency and conjugation ability in infected insects for the used strains.  相似文献
