The design, synthesis, characterization and self-assembling properties of a new class of amphiphilic peptides, constructed from a bifunctional polar core attached to totally hydrophobic arms, are presented. The first series of this class, represented by the general structure Py(Aibn)2 (Py=2,6-pyridine dicarbonyl unit; Aib=alpha, alpha'-dimethyl glycine; n=1-4), is prepared in a single step by the condensation of commercially available 2,6-pyridine dicarbonyl dichloride with the methyl ester of homo oligoAib peptide (Aibn-OMe) in the presence of triethyl amine. 1H NMR VT and ROESY studies indicated the presence of a common structural feature of 2-fold symmetry and an NH...N hydrogen bond for all the members. Whereas the Aib3 segment in Py(Aib3)2 showed only the onset of a 3(10)-helical structure, the presence of a well-formed 3(10)-helix in both Aib4 arms of Py(Aib4)2 was evident in the 1H NMR of the bispeptide. X-ray crystallographic studies have shown that in the solid state, whereas Py(Aib2)2 molecules organize into a sheet-like structure and Py(Aib3)2 molecules form a double-stranded string assembly, the tetra Aib bispeptide, Py(Aib4)2, is organized to form a tetrameric assembly which in turn extends into a continuous channel-like structure. The channel is totally hydrophobic in the interior and can selectively encapsulate lipophilic ester (CH3COOR, R=C2H5, C5H11) molecules, as shown by the crystal structures of the encapsulating channel. The crystal structure parameters are: 1b, Py(Aib2)2, C25H37N5O8, sp. gr. P2(1)2(1)2(1), a=9.170(1) A, b=16.215(2) A, c=20.091(3) A, R=4.80; 1c, Py(Aib3)2, C33H51N7O10H2O, sp. gr. The crystal structure of the tripeptide t-Boc-L-Pro-D-Ala-D-Ala-NHCH3, monohydrate, (C17H30N4O5.H2O, molecular weight = 404.44) has been determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystals are monoclinic, space group P2(1), a = 9.2585(4), b = 9.3541(5), c = 12.4529(4)A, beta = 96.449(3) degrees, Z = 2. The peptide units are in the trans and the tBoc-Pro bond in the cis orientation. The first and third peptide units show significant deviations from planarity (delta omega = 5.2 degrees and delta omega = 3.7 degrees, respectively). The backbone torsion angles are: phi 1 = -60 degrees, psi 1 = 143.3 degrees, omega 1 = -174.8 degrees, phi 2 = 148.4 degrees, psi 2 = -143.1 degrees, omega 2 = -179.7 degrees, phi 3 = 151.4 degrees, psi 3 = -151.9 degrees, omega 3 = -176.3 degrees. The pyrrolidine ring of the proline residue adopts the C2-C gamma conformation. The molecular packing gives rise to an antiparallel beta-sheet structure formed of dimeric repeating units of the peptide. The surface of the dimeric beta-sheet is hydrophobic. Water molecules are found systematically at the edges of the sheets interacting with the urethane oxygen and terminal amino groups. Surface catalysis of an L-Ala to D-Ala epimerization process by water molecules adsorbed on to an incipient beta-sheet is suggested as a mechanism whereby crystals of the title peptide were obtained from a solution of tBoc-Pro-D-Ala-Ala-NHCH3.  相似文献

A novel diperoxovanadate complex NH4[OV(O2)2{2-(2'-pyridyl)-imidazole}] x 4H2O was synthesized in aqueous solution under physiological conditions. The solution structure of the complex was characterized by multinuclear (1H, 13C, 14N, and 51V) as well as multi-dimensional (DOSY and C-H COSY) NMR techniques in the interaction system of NH4VO3/H2O2/2-(2'-pyridyl)-imidazole at room temperature. The crystal structure of the complex was determined at 173K by single-crystal X-ray diffraction method. It belongs to the monoclinic space group P21/c with a = 13.048(4), b = 6.984(2), c = 17.814(5) A, beta = 104.695(5), V = 1570.3(8) A3 and Z = 4. The crystal is composed of ammonium ions, {2-(2'-pyridyl)-imidazole}oxodiperoxovanadate(V) ions, and water molecules, which are held together by ionic and hydrogen bond forces. The metal atom in the complex is seven-coordinated with a distorted pentagonal bipyramidal geometry. It is the first mononuclear diperoxovanadate complex with a N, N'-chelating biheteroaromatic ligand and its 51V chemical shift is at the highest field among the known mononuclear diperoxovanadate(V) complexes.  相似文献

The crystal structure of beta-D-galactopyranosylamine (C6H13O5N) is orthorhombic, with space group P2(1)2(1)2(1), and cell dimensions a = 7.703(2), b = 7.788(2), c = 12.645(3) A, V = 757.612 A3, Z = 4; Dc and Dm are 1.573 and 1.587 cm-3, respectively. Using MoK alpha radiation (lambda = 0.7107 A), 2841 reflections were measured on a CAD-4 diffractometer. The structure was solved by using MULTAN-78, and refined anisotropically for the non-hydrogen positional and thermal parameters. Final agreement indices are R(F) = 0.074, wR(F) = 0.086, and S = 2.1523. The conformation is 4C1(D). The orientation of the primary alcohol group is gauche/trans. An unexpected feature of the hydrogen bonding is that the amino group accepts a strong O-H---N bond, but has no donor functionality in the crystal structure.  相似文献

The crystal structure of a synthetic analogue of valinomycin, cyclo[-(L-Val-L-Hyi-L-Val-D-Hyi)2-(D-Val-L-Hyi-L-Val-D -Hyi)-] ([L-Val1, L-Val5]meso-valinomycin), C60H102N6O18, has been determined. Crystals grown from petroleum ether are orthorhombic, space group P2(1)2(1)2(1), with cell parameters a = 16.41(1), b = 18.76(1), c = 25.86(1) A, and Z = 4. The atomic coordinates for nonhydrogen atoms, except those of terminal carbons on one side chain, were refined in the anisotropic thermal motion approximation. The coordinate parameters of the H atoms were incorporated into the structure factor calculations at geometrically expected positions. Values of the standard and weighted R factors after refinement are 0.074 and 0.083, respectively. The crystal structure of the molecule is asymmetric and adopts a conformation with four 4----1 type and one 6----1 type intramolecular hydrogen bonds between amide nitrogens and carbonyl oxygens. Valinomycin binds potassium more than 100 times strongly than the D,L stereoisomeric analogue, as a result of a different spatial orientation of potentially interacting carbonyl groups.  相似文献

The crystal and molecular structure of the nonapeptide antibiotic leucinostatin A, containing some uncommon amino acids and three Aib residues, has been determined by x-ray diffraction analysis. The molecule crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group P2(1)2(1)2(1), a = 10.924, b = 17.810, c = 40.50 A, C62H111N11O13, HCl.H2O, Z = 4. The peptide backbone folds in a regular right-handed alpha-helix conformation, with six intramolecular i----(i + 4) hydrogen bonds, forming C13 rings. The nonapeptide chain includes at the C end an unusual beta-Ala residue, which also adopts the helical structure of the other eight residues. In the crystal the helices are linked head to tail by electrostatic and hydrogen-bond interactions, forming continuous helical rods. The crystal packing is formed by adjacent parallel and antiparallel helical rods. Between adjacent parallel helical columns there are only van der Waals contacts, while between adjacent antiparallel helical columns hydrogen-bond interactions are formed.  相似文献

The dipeptide, L-prolyl-L-leucine monohydrate (C11H20N2O3.H2O, molecular weight, 246.3) crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2(1), with cell constants: a = 6.492(2)A, b = 5.417(8)A, c = 20.491(5)A, beta = 96.59(2) degrees, Z = 2, Do = 1.15 g/cm3, and Dc = 1.142 g/cm3. The structure was solved by SHELX-86 and refined by full matrix least squares methods to a final R-factor of 0.081 for 660 unique reflections (I greater than 2 sigma (I)) measured on an Enraf Nonius CAD-4 diffractometer (CuK alpha, lambda = 1.5418 A, T = 293 K). The peptide linkage exists in the trans conformation. The pyrrolidine ring exists in the envelope conformation. The values of the sidechain torsion angles are: chi 1 = -59.3(13) degrees, chi 21 = -63.1(16) degrees and chi 22 = 174.8(15) degrees for leucine (C-terminal). The crystal structure is stabilised by a three-dimensional network of N-H ... O, O-H ... O, and C-H ... O hydrogen bonds.  相似文献

The crystal-structure determination of the molecular structure of the hydrophobic compound, 4-cyano-5-cyanomethyl-1-(2,3,5-tri-O-acetyl-beta-D-ribofuranosyl)-1,2,3-triazole, C16H17N5O7, provides us with two different conformations of ribofuranosyl moieties [(C2'-exo, C3'-endo) and C2'-exo] with two markedly different N-glycosidic angles. There are two molecules in the asymmetric unit of the crystal and the overall stereochemistry of the molecules are influenced predominantly by weak intramolecular bifurcated and trifurcated hydrogen bonds of the type C-H...O and C-H...N, where endo-H atoms attached to C2' and C3' are involved. The molecules in the crystal are interconnected with longer intermolecular bonds of the same type. There are empty channels (occupying 14.0% of the whole volume of the unit cell), which are extended along b-axis of the entire crystal.  相似文献

Sodium isosaccharate, NaC(6)H(11)O(6).H(2)O (Na-ISA), has been synthesized, and its crystal structure solved by single-crystal X-ray diffraction methods. Na-ISA crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2(1) (#4) with cell parameters a = 9.2267(11) A, b = 5.0765(6) A, c = 9.7435(11) A, beta = 103.304(2) degrees, V = 444.13(9) A(3), Z = 2. The structure was refined by full-matrix least-squares on F2 yielding final R-values (all data) R1 = 0.0361 and Rw2 = 0.0935. The structure of Na-ISA consists of (C(6)H(11)O(6))(-) anions arranged in layers parallel to the bc plane. An extended network of O-H...O hydrogen bonds links the (ISA)(-) anions and the crystal water molecules. Each sodium atom is coordinated by four oxygen atoms belonging to four different (ISA)(-) anions and by one water molecule. The resulting NaO(5) polyhedra are linked by sharing common corners in zig-zag chains running parallel to the b-axis.  相似文献

Direct x-ray analysis has been used to determine the crystal structure of [D-Hyi2, L-Hyi4]meso-valinomycin (cyclo[-D-Val-D-Hyi-L-Val-L-Hyi-(D-Val-L-Hyi-L-Val-D-+ ++Hyi)2-], C60H102N6O18), which crystallized from acetone with two solvent molecules. The crystals are trigonal, space group P32, number of molecules per unit cell Z = 3, cell parameters a = b = 15.2085 (8) A, c = 29.3250 (9) A, gamma = 120 degrees. The standard (R) and weighted (Rw) reliability factors after refinement of the atomic coordinates for C, N, and O atoms in the anisotropic thermal motion approximation, allowing for isotropic H atom contributions, were 0.070 and 0.082, respectively. The molecule adopts a distorted bracelet structure which is stabilized by six N-H ... O = C 4----1 type intramolecular hydrogen bonds. The side chains predominantly occupy external pseudoaxial positions relative to the cylindrical axis of the molecule. In contrast to meso-valinomycin, only four of the six Val carbonyl oxygen atoms are directed inwards to form a coordination centre for the molecule, and the carbonyl oxygen atoms of residues D-Val1 and L-Val3 are twisted outward and point away from the centre of the molecule. Although the analogue has a partially formed ion-binding center, it is inaccessible because the hydrophobic isopropyl groups of the D-Hyi2 and L-Hyi4 residues screen the molecular cavity on both sides.  相似文献

Crystals of L-leucylglycylglycylglycine, LGGG (C12H22N4O5), grown from an ethanol-water solution, are orthorhombic, space groups P2(1)2(1)2(1), with unit cell dimensions (at 22 +/- 3 degrees) a = 9.337(1), b = 10.995(1), c = 15.235(1)A, v = 1563.4 A3, Z = 4 with a density of Dobs = 1.29 g.cm-3 and Dcalc = 1.279 g.cm-3. The crystal structure was solved by the application of direct methods and refined to an R value of 0.029 for 1018 reflections with I greater than or equal to 2 sigma. The molecule exists as a zwitterion in the crystal. The trans peptide backbone takes up a folded conformation at the middle glycylglycyl link accompanied by a significant nonplanarity up to delta omega of 8 degrees at the middle peptide and is relatively more extended at the two ends. The molecules are linked together intermolecularly in an infinite sequence of head to tail 1-4' hydrogen bonds, as is typical of charged peptides. It is interesting to note that while glycylglycylglycine takes up an extended beta-sheet conformation, addition of Leu to the N-terminal results in a bent conformation.  相似文献

The structure of a dihydrated form of glycyl-L-tyrosyl-L-alanine (GYA) has been determined as part of a series of peptide structural investigations and development of microscale vapor diffusion experiments for peptide crystal growth. Crystals were grown by the hanging-drop method against sodium acetate. The tripeptide is a zwitterion in the crystal, adopting an extended conformation through glycine, a nearly perpendicular bend at tyrosine and a reverse turn for the C-terminal carboxylate. Principal backbone torsion angles are psi 1 175(1) degrees, omega 2 173(1) degrees, phi 2 -119(1) degrees, psi 2 120(1) degrees, omega 3 172(1) degrees, phi 3 -73(1) degrees, psi 31 -9(1) degrees, psi 32 171(1) degrees. The tyrosyl side chain adopts an unusual orientation (chi 1/2 = -86(1) degrees). The relationship of the GYA.2H2O structure to GYA sequences in proteins is examined, particularly as regards its helix-forming potential. Crystal data: C14H19N3O4.2H2O, M(r) = 345.36, orthorhombic, P2(1)2(1)2(1), a = 4.810 (4), b = 11.400(7), c = 30.162(23)A, V = 1653.8(24)A-3, Z = 4, Dx = 1.387 Mgm-3, lambda(CuK- alpha) = 1.540 A, mu = 9.053 mm-1, F(000) = 736, T = 199 K, R = 0.041 for 1458 observations with I greater than or equal to 3 sigma(I).  相似文献

Crystals of the tripeptide, glycyl-glycyl-sarcosine (C7H13N3O4) from aqueous methanol are orthorhombic, space group Pbcn with cell parameters at 294 K of a = 8.279(1), b = 9.229(4), c = 24.447(5)A, V = 1868.0 A3, M.W. = 203.2, and Z = 8. The crystal structure was solved and refined using CAD-4 data (1171 reflections greater than or equal to 3 sigma) to a final R-value of 0.053. The first peptide linkage is trans and planar whereas the second peptide link between Gly and sarcosine is cis and appreciably non-planar (w = 7.4 degrees). The peptide backbone has an extended conformation at the N-terminal part but adopts a polyglycine-II type of conformation at the C-terminal part. The backbone torsion angles are: psi 1 = -173.9, w1 = -177.8, (phi 2, psi 2) = (-178.8, -170.8), w2 = 7.4, (phi 3, psi 3) = (-81.6, 165.6 degrees).  相似文献

Crystals of N-formyl-L-methionyl-L-phenylalanine (C15H20N2O4S), grown from aqueous methanol solution are orthorhombic, space group, P2(1)2(1)2(1), with cell parameters at 294K of a = 4.900(2), b = 17.947(4), c = 18.726(4)A, V = 1646.8A3, M.W. = 324.4, Z = 4 and Dm = 1.308 g/cc, and as expected, all nearly identical to that of N-f-D-Met-D-Phe studied by Jeffs, Heald, Chodosh & Eggleston (Int. J. Peptide Protein Res. 24, 442-446, 1984). The crystal structure was solved and refined using CAD-4 data (1095 reflections greater than or equal to 3 sigma) to a final R value of 0.042. Molecules related by the alpha-translation form a parallel beta-sheet rather than anti-parallel sheet as stated in the earlier study of Jeffs et al. The formation of the parallel rather than the anti-parallel beta-sheet structure, the use of the C-H ...O hydrogen bonds to stabilize the beta-sheet and the very short O-H ...O hydrogen bond between the carboxyl OH and the N-acyl oxygen atom emerge as the main structural features of the chemotactic N-formyl methionyl peptides.  相似文献

The crystal structure of a synthetic analogue of valinomycin, cyclo[-(D-Val-L-Hyi-L-Val-D-Hyi)2-] (octa-meso-valinomycin) (I) (C40H68N4O12.1.5.C4H8O2, M(r) = 937.01 + 88.10), has been determined. Crystals grown from dioxane are monoclinic, space group P2(1)/a, with cell parameters a = 21.487 (8), b = 16.836 (5), c = 16.089 (4) A, beta = 111.70 (4), and Z = 4. The atomic coordinates for nonhydrogen atoms were refined in the anisotropic thermal motion approximation. H atom positions were included in the structure factor calculations at their geometrically expected positions. Values of the standard and weighted R factors after refinement are 0.11 and 0.13, respectively. The conformation of the depsipeptide crystallized from dioxane is different from that crystallized from chloroform (II). The molecule adopts a rectangular shape with two type IV beta-turns containing a hydrogen bond and possesses pseudorotational symmetry. The side chains are located on the molecular periphery. The orientation of the carbonyl groups of the molecule is not conducive for efficient metal-ion coordination and in the observed conformation cannot behave as an ionophore. In the crystal the molecules form infinite chains parallel to the c axis, and are stabilized by two intermolecular hydrogen bonds that are shorter and have better geometry than the intramolecular hydrogen bonds. A phi/psi plot for dodecadepsipeptides with a (DLLD)3 sequence has well-defined areas for Val and Hyi residues only in cases when the crystals have been grown from nonpolar or medium-polar solvents. The phi/psi plot for octadepsipeptides crystallized from chloroform (II) shows this behavior also.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

A complex of the electron-rich ion Cu(I) with the flavoquinone analogue 10-methylisoalloxazine has been synthesized and characterized by x-ray methods. The complex is unstable to oxygen. It is black-green in color, in contrast with the bright yellow, orange, or orange-brown crystalline complexes of 10-methylisoalloxazine or riboflavin with Cu(II), Ag(I), and Pb(II). These results are indicative of strong perturbation of the flavin electronic structure by the Cu(I) ion and suggest that this complex is a reasonable model for incipient transfer of an electron from a reduced metal to flavoquinone. the crystal structure is orthorhombic, Pna2-1, with unit cell constants a = 31.24(1) (figures in parentheses are estimated standard deviations), b = 12.862(4), c = 6.239(2) A, Pobs = 1.76 g per cm-3 and Pcalc = 1.77 g per cm-3 for Z = 4 and asymmetric formula CuClO4-2(C11H8N4O2). HCOOH. The final R factor based on 1250 counter-measured data is 8.8%. The 2 independent 10-methylisoalloxazine molecules, A and B, bind strongly to the cuprous ion throug N(5) of each flavin. The copper is approximately linearly coordinated with an N-Cu-N angle of 153(1) degrees, and Cu-N(5) distances of 1.94(2) A and 1.92(2) A. The next nearest atoms to Cu are the O(4) oxygens of each flavin, forming weak bonds with distances Cu-O(4) = 2.27(2) A and 2.21(2) A for molecules A and B. The dihedral angle between the 2 10-methylisoalloxazine molecules is 65.4 degrees.  相似文献

Crystals of N-formyl-L-methionyl-L-valine (C11H20N2O)4S, M.W. = 276.3) are orthorhombic, space group )2(1)2(1)2(1) with cell constants at 294K of a = 4.851 (1), b = 14.925 (1), c = 19.745 (3) A, V = 1429.8 (1) A3, Z = 4 and observed (Dm) and calculated (Dx) of 1.49 and 1.488 g x cm-3, respectively. The crystal structure was solved using automatic diffractometer data (1260 reflections larger than or equal to 3 sigma) and refined to a final R-value of 0.035. This structure contains a short (2.626 (3) A) intermolecular hydrogen bond between the carboxyl OH and the N-acyl oxygen, a feature common to most N-acylamino acids and N-acylpeptides. The peptide is nearly planar (omega = 174.6 (5)); the values of psi 1, phi 2, psi 1T and psi 2T are, respectively, 131.8 (4) degrees, -139.9 (5) degrees, -39.3 (4) degrees and 142.1 (4) degrees. The methionine side chain is not zig-zag transplanar; the side chain torsion angles are: chi 1(1) = -60.0 (4) degrees, chi 2(1) = 176.0 (4) degrees and chi 3(1) = 71.8 (4) degrees. The two C gamma's for valine have psi 1-values of -64.4 (5) degrees and 173.7 (5) degrees. The formation of the parallel rather than antiparallel beta-sheet structure, the participation of the N-formyl group in the parallel beta-sheet and the use of C-H ... O hydrogen bonds to stabilize the beta-sheet are novel features found in this structure.  相似文献

X-ray, NMR and molecular mechanics studies on pentostatin (C11H16N4O4), a potent inhibitor of the enzyme adenosine deaminase, have been carried out to study the structure and conformation. The crystals belong to the monoclinic space group P21 with the cell dimensions of a = 4.960(1), b = 10.746(3), c = 11.279(4)A, beta = 101.18(2) degrees and Z = 2. The structure was solved by direct methods and difference Fourier methods and refined to an R value of 0.047 for 997 reflections. The trihydrodiazepine ring is nonplanar and adopts a distorted sofa conformation with C(7) deviated from the mean plane by 0.66A. The deoxyribose ring adopts a C3'-endo conformation, different from coformycin where the sugar has a C2'-endo conformation. The observed glycosidic torsion angle (chi = -119.5 degrees) is in the anti range. The conformation about the C(4')-C(5') bond is gauche+. The conformation of the molecule is compared with that of coformycin and 2-azacoformycin. 1 and 2D NMR studies have been carried out and the dihedral angles obtained from coupling constants have been compared with those obtained from the crystal structure. The conformation of deoxyribose in solution is approximately 70% S and 30% N. Molecular mechanics studies were performed to obtain the energy minimized conformation, which is compared with X-ray and NMR results.  相似文献

In our attempts to design crystalline alpha-helical peptides, we synthesized and crystallized GAI (C11H21N3O4) in two crystal forms, GAI1 and GAI2. Form 1 (GAI1) Gly-L-Ala-L-Ile (C11H21N3O4.3H2O) crystals are monoclinic, space group P2(1) with a = 8.171(2), b = 6.072(4), c = 16.443(4) A, beta = 101.24(2) degrees, V = 800 A3, Dc = 1.300 g cm-3 and Z = 2, R = 0.081 for 482 reflections. Form 2 (GAI2) Gly-L-Ala-L-Ile (C11H21N3O4.1/2H2O) is triclinic, space group P1 with a = 5.830(1), b = 8.832(2), c = 15.008(2) A, alpha = 102.88(1), beta = 101.16(2), gamma = 70.72(2) degrees, V = 705 A3, Z = 2, Dc = 1.264 g cm-3, R = 0.04 for 2582 reflections. GAI1 is isomorphous with GAV and forms a helix, whereas GAI2 does not. In GAI1, the tripeptide molecule is held in a near helical conformation by a water molecule that bridges the NH3+ and COO- groups, and acts as the fourth residue needed to complete the turn by forming two hydrogen bonds. Two other water molecules form intermolecular hydrogen bonds in stabilizing the helical structure so that the end result is a column of molecules that looks like an incipient alpha-helix. GAI2 imitates a cyclic peptide and traps a water molecule. The conformation angles chi 11 and chi 12 for the side chain are (-63.7 degrees, 171.1 degrees) for the helical GAI1, and (-65.1 degrees, 58.6 degrees) and (-65.0 degrees, 58.9 degrees) for the two independent nonhelical molecules in GAI2; in GAI1, both the C gamma atoms point away from the helix, whereas in GAI2 the C gamma atom with the g+ conformation points inward to the helix and causes sterical interaction with atoms in the adjacent peptide plane. From these results, it is clear that the helix-forming tendencies of amino acids correlate with the restrictions of side-chain rotamer conformations. Both the peptide units in GAI1 are trans and show significant deviation from planarity [omega 1 = -168(1) degrees; omega 2 = -171(1) degrees] whereas both the peptide units in both the molecules A and B in GAI2 do not show significant deviation from planarity [omega 1 = 179.3(3) degrees; omega 2 = -179.3(3) degrees for molecule A and omega 1 = 179.5(3) degrees; omega 2 = -179.4(3) degrees for molecule B], indicating that the peptide planes in these incipient alpha-helical peptides are considerably bent.  相似文献

The crystal structure of the inclusion complex of cyclomaltoheptaose (beta-cyclodextrin) with 4-hydroxybiphenyl was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction at 150K. The complex contains two cyclomaltoheptaose molecules, two 4-hydroxybiphenyl molecules, one ethanol molecule and fifteen water molecules in the asymmetric unit, and could be formulated as [2(C(42)H(70)O(35)).2(C(12)H(10)O).(C(2)H(6)O).15(H(2)O)]. It crystallized in the triclinic space group P1 with unit cell constants a=15.257(3), b=15.564(3), c=15.592(2)A, alpha=104.485(15) degrees , beta=101.066(14) degrees , gamma=104.330(17) degrees , V=3,343.6(10)A(3). In the crystal lattice, two beta-cyclodextrins form a head-to-head dimer jointed through hydrogen bonds. Two 4-hydroxybiphenyls were included in the dimer cavity with their hydroxyl groups protruding from two primary hydroxyl sides of the cyclodextrin molecules. The guest 4-hydroxybiphenyl molecules linked into a chain via a combination of an O-Hcdots, three dots, centeredO hydrogen bond and face-to-face pi-pi stacking of the phenyl rings. The crystal structure supports the calculation results indicating that the 2:2 inclusion complex formed by beta-cyclodextrin and 4-hydroxybiphenyl is the energetically favored structure.  相似文献
