Olive (Olea europaea L.) is a wind-pollinated, allogamous species that is generally not considered to be self-compatible. In addition, cross-incompatibilities exist between cultivars that can result in low fruit set if compatible pollinisers are not planted nearby. In this study, microsatellite markers were used to identify 17 genotypes that were potential pollen donors in a commercial olive orchard. DNA typing with the same primers was also applied to 800 olive embryos collected from five cultivars in the grove over 2 years of study. Pollen donors for the cultivars Barnea, Corregiola, Kalamata, Koroneiki, and Mission were estimated by paternity analysis, based on the parental contribution of alleles in the genotypes of the embryos. The exclusion probability for the marker set was 0.998 and paternity was assigned on the basis of the ‘most likely method’. Different pollen donors were identified for each of the maternal cultivars indicating that cross-compatibilities and incompatibilities varied between the genotypes studied. Cross-pollination was the principal method of fertilization, as selfing was only observed in two of the embryos studied and both of these were from the cultivar Mission. This is the first report where these techniques have been applied to survey the pollination patterns in an olive grove. The results indicate that careful planning in orchard design is required for efficient pollination between olive cultivars.  相似文献

Abstract Prays oleae Bern, (OM) and Palpita unionalis Hüb., (JM) are two of the most important pests in olive groves in Egypt. A 3‐year monitoring study using sex pheromone traps in semi‐arid and arid olive groves was performed. In the semi‐arid grove, flight pattern of the OM was the same as in other Mediterranean countries, but in dates concordating plant phenology. The moth completes three generations annually: the first flight is in March to April, the second is in May to June and the third occurs in August to October. In the arid olive grove, an interesting flight pattern was observed. First flight was always very close or overlapped with the second one with no male catches during August to October. However, eggs were present most of the season, indicating unusually high female presence and oviposition activity of the OM during the absence of males in the traps. Generally, moth densities were significantly lower in low fruiting years than in higher ones and were also lower in the arid olive grove than in the semi‐arid one. In contrast, JM males were present all season, exhibiting six to seven and three to four overlapping flight peaks in arid and semi‐arid olive groves, respectively. Moth densities were significantly higher in the arid olive grove than those in the semi‐arid one. This study shows that trapping location and fruit bearing year are characteristics that strongly affect the grove‐specific information needed to estimate correctly adult emergence and thus the timing of control measures.  相似文献

The effects of land-use management and environmental features at different scales on carabid beetle diversity and trait structure were assessed across olive groves in northeastern Portugal. We selected organic and integrated olive groves that were distinct in terms of specific management practices, local linear features and landscape configurations. Besides the management intensification levels, differences in carabid diversity and community traits were mainly due to local habitat and ecological linear structures at a finer spatial scale. Carabid community traits related to disturbance, namely traits of body size and species dispersal ability, responded to land-use intensity and particular olive grove features were influencing diversity patterns. Within the olive grove patches, larger and brachypterous species were associated to plots with more dense vegetation cover while macropterous and small-sized species were more associated to open areas. Also, larger carabid species benefitted from higher patch size heterogeneity within the landscape mosaics. Our findings indicate that the effects of farming system is contingent on the specific management practices, local and linear features present in agroecosystems such as olive groves. Particularly, the influence of local features on carabid diversity patterns and community traits linked to dispersal and movement may be crucial in maintaining pest control at a landscape scale.  相似文献

A rapid cold hardening response was studied in females and males of the olive fruit fly Bactrocera (Dacus) oleae. When laboratory-reared females and males were transferred and maintained from the rearing temperature of 24 °C for 2 h to –6.5 °C approximately 5% survived. However, conditioning of both females and males for 2 h at various temperatures from 0 to 10 °C before their exposure for 2 h to –6.5 °C increased survival to 80 to 92%. A similar rapid cold hardening response in both females and males was also induced through gradual cooling of the flies at a rate of approximately 0.4 °C per min. The rapid increase in cold tolerance after prior conditioning of the flies to low temperatures, was rapidly lost when they returned to a higher temperature of 24 °C. In the field, in late February and early March, females and males were capable of a rapid cold hardening response. After exposure to the critical temperature they suffered a high mortality when tested in the afternoon and low mortality early in the morning on consecutive days, probably because of differences in the prevailing field temperatures a few hours before testing. This plasticity of cold tolerance gained through rapid cold hardening may allow the flies to survive during periods of the year with great fluctuation in circadian temperatures.  相似文献

Chelonus elaeaphilus Silvestri (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) is a host-specific parasitoid of the olive moth, Prays oleae (Bernard), that can cause parasitism rates of up to 80% in Mediterranean olive groves. A laboratory study was carried out to assess the potential of sugars provided by wild plant species in olive grove agroecosystem to enhance the fitness of C. elaeaphilus. Insects were reared in a climate-controlled chamber at 25?±?2°C, 60?±?5% relative humidity (RH) with a photoperiod of 16:8 (L:D) h. Five naturally occurring wild plant nectar sugars (sucrose, fructose, glucose, maltose and mannose) were tested for their effect on insect longevity. The nectar sugar content of sucrose, fructose and glucose in 12 selected olive grove agroecosystem plant species was analysed and categorised on the basis of sugar ratios. Female insect longevity was increased when they were fed on both sucrose and glucose compared to either maltose or fructose, suggesting that sucrose-dominant nectars would bene?t this parasitoid. Sucrose was predominant in the nectar of five of the studied plant species (Silene gallica, Borago officinalis, Echium plantagineum, Lavandula stoechas and Lonicera hispânica). The results are discussed in terms of potential enhancement of the biological control of P. oleae.  相似文献

Conservation biological control aims to enhance the efficacy of biological control agents, such as predators and parasitoids, by providing them access to key requisites, for example floral or other alternative food resources. However, the occurrence of floral resources in agricultural systems may have positive effects not only on natural enemies but also on the pests themselves. For this reason, we have studied in laboratory common Mediterranean plants as potential food resources for an important lepidopteran olive pest, the olive moth, Prays oleae. The effects of 15 wild flowering plants from olive grove ecosystems, and four sugars present in floral nectars, on key biological parameters of P. oleae (i.e. longevity, pre-oviposition and oviposition periods, fertility and fecundity) were evaluated. The three pest generations were analysed. Only few of the plants tested increased some reproductive parameters of the insect individuals compared to the water-fed controls, while sugars generally improved them. This could be due to a higher concentration of sugars provided by individual sugars than by flower nectar. These results indicate that, in general, P. oleae will not benefit from the availability of the floral resources tested.  相似文献

Russian olive (Elaeagnus angustifolia) is an invasive tree that has spread throughout much of the western United States. The mode of seed dispersal occurs by hydrochory and possibly by birds. Seed dispersal by frugivorous mammals has not been investigated. Between 15 October and 4 November 2020, we walked through Russian olive windbreaks in western North Dakota, USA, and surveyed for mammal scat, and found 10 coyote (Canis latrans) and 54 porcupine (Erethizon dorsatum) scats that contained intact Russian olive seeds. We subsequently evaluated the viability, germination frequency, and time to germination of seeds ingested by coyote and porcupine relative to un-ingested control seeds harvested from trees at sites where we collected scat. Overall, Russian olive seeds that passed through mammal intestinal tracts had similar viability and equivalent (porcupine) or higher (coyote) germination frequency compared to controls. Additionally, coyote-ingested seeds germinated earlier (time to germination was low) than controls, but porcupine-ingested seeds were similar to controls. Thus, our data supports the idea that mammals may be agents of regional Russian olive seed dispersal.  相似文献

  • 1 The patterns of abundance of coccinellid species associated to the main agricultural tree crops of north‐eastern Portugal namely olive, chestnut and almond were studied.
  • 2 During three to four crop seasons, eight olive, five chestnut and one almond groves were sampled. In each grove, five samples were collected from 10 randomly selected trees using the beating technique and the coccinellids were counted and identified to species. Principal component analysis was used to establish associations among crop and coccinellid species.
  • 3 The mean species richness was higher in chestnut, with 15 ± 3.81 species/grove, followed by olive and almond, with 13 ± 2.76 and 10 ± 2.97 species/grove, respectively. Scymnus mediterraneus was the most abundant species in olive and almond, whereas Scymnus interruptus was dominant in chestnut. Brumus quadripustulatus, Chilocorus bipustulatus, Scymnus subvillosus, S. mediterraneus and Rhyzobius chrysomeloides were associated with olive, whereas S. interruptus, Coccinella septempunctata and Adalia decempunctata were associated with chestnut and Hippodamia variegata, Oenopia conglobata and Adalia bipunctata with almond. Both Stethorus punctillum and Scymnus apetzi species were similarly associated with chestnut and almond.
  • 4 The differences in coccinellid communities could have been related to the kind of prey item present in the different trees. This knowledge can be used to develop integrated pest management programmes that encourage greater natural enemy biodiversity in agroecosystems.

The dispersal of marked, irradiated olive fruit flies originating from a hybrid laboratory strain was studied in an olive groove located in the arid regions of southern Israel. Release–recapture experiments (eight in total) were conducted throughout a period of 5 months (July–December 2008). In each experiment, ca. 5000 flies were released. Recapture of flies was conducted using a grid of 30 yellow sticky traps set in expanding semicircles from the centre of release. Service of traps was conducted 3 and 15 days after the release. Fly quality and adult food type (only sucrose and protein + sucrose) before release was also investigated. Results point at an average dispersal distance of marked, irradiated olive flies of ca. 50 m. Pre‐release adult diet did not affect dispersal ability. Fly recovery averaged ca. 3.5% during summer and ca. 1.5% during autumn. Most of the recovery concentrated during the first 3 days after releases, suggesting low survival of the released flies afterwards. As inferred from circular statistics, direction of dispersal was non‐random with a significant directionality to the north‐west. Results are discussed in view of environmental temperatures and wind direction.  相似文献

The dispersal rates of wild and culture cabbage root flies Erioischia brassicae were determined in release-recapture experiments at Wellesbourne in 1971–3. The experiments were concerned mainly with the first 7 days of adult life. The flies, released from nine locations in the area, were recaptured in yellow water-traps. Dispersal was affected by wind, rain and the terrain the flies were crossing. The flies least often recaptured were those released into the host crop when 6–12 days old. The results indicated the following pattern of behaviour. Flies moved little during the first 2 days of adult life but by the third day both sexes had dispersed to c. 100 m from the release point. Flies are known to mate about the fourth day and after this the males continued to disperse at c. 100 m per day for the three subsequent days. ‘Wild’ females from field-collected pupae carried out a ‘migratory’ flight, however, and dispersed at c. 1000 m per day during the fifth and sixth days, the days preceding the start of oviposition. Similar rates of dispersal were recorded from flies released across host crop and non-host crop areas. Some females did not stop at the first crop they encountered. The culture females from the laboratory-reared pupae dispersed only c. one-third of the distance of the wild females. There was considerable intermingling of local populations. The percentage recapture of young culture and wild flies released during the pre-oviposition period of this species was 38 ± 4 and 19 ±4 for males, and 15 + 2 and 8+1 for females, respectively. The dispersal range of the cabbage root fly is probably within a 2000–3000 m radius of the site of infestation.  相似文献

  1. Spiders are successful natural enemies in different crops. Research on the role of spiders as natural enemies within agroecosystems needs to address the distribution of their communities across different spatial scales, as well as the dominant species.
  2. We studied the spatial distribution of the community of spiders of the olive agroecosystem in Northeastern Portugal and investigated potential species that could be used as bioindicators of agricultural management in the olive grove.
  3. We found nine functional groups (ambushers, foliage runner hunters, ground hunters, orb‐web builders, sheet web builders, sensing web‐builders, space web builders, stalkers and wandering sheet/tangle weavers) encompassing a community that changed significantly across the horizontal and vertical gradient.
  4. We propose Thanatus vulgaris Simon, 1870 as potential bioindicator for the ground of the olive grove central area and Ozyptila pauxilla (Simon, 1870) for the ground of the olive grove peripheral area.
  5. Adjacent shrubland areas could play an important role in biological control of pests, allowing the exchange of species and individuals with the olive crop. The role of agrobiont species as indicators of agricultural managements deserves further investigation towards the enhancement of the effectiveness of spiders within low‐impact crop management in arable landscapes.

When three fluorescent yellow 15×20 cm plates covered by Bird Tanglefoot® were vertically suspended in the canopy of each tree in a 21-tree semi-isolated olive grove near Athens, 9000 olive fruit flies were trapped from July–November. An additional 3300 flies were trapped by twelve fluorescent yellow traps placed in three barrier olive trees. At crop harvest, the olive fruit infestation was 5%, 15%, and 50% in a bait-sprayed, the fluorescent-yellow trap, and an untreated grove, respectively. The olive fruit fly adult population, as measured by McPhail protein-traps, was much larger in the untreated than in the yellow-trap grove. The results indicated that males may be more attracted to the yellow traps than females. They also showed increased trapping rates in trees of high crop production as well as in the west side of the tree.
Zusammenfassung In der Nähe von Athen, in einem teilweise isolierten Olivenhain mit 21 Bäumen wurden von Juli bis November 9000 Olivenfliegen gefangen, wobei in jedem Baum drei fluoreszierend-gelbe Tafeln (15×20 cm) senkrecht in der Baumkrone aufgehängt wurden. Die Tafeln waren mit einem Leim, Bird Tanglefoot®, beschichtet. Zusätzlich wurden von zwölf solchen Tafeln, die in drei Barriere-Bäume gehängt worden waren, noch 3300 Fliegen gefangen.Zur Zeit der Ernte war der Befall der Früchte 5%, 15%, und 50% für Bäume, die mit Insektizid behandelt, bzw. mit gelben Fallen versehen oder unbehandelt waren.Die Populationdichte der Fliegen, bestimmt mit der Methode der Proteinfanggläser (McPhail), war wesentlich grösser in den unbehandelten als in den mit gelben Fallen ausgerüsteten Bäumen.Die Resultate zeigen, dass die meisten der angelockten Fliegen Männchen waren und dass die meisten Fliegen in Bäumen mit gutem Ertrag, dazu an die westliche Seite der Bäume gefangen wurden.

Rates of dispersal of adult Dacus oleae Gmel. were measured on Corfu during June and early July using grids of McPhail traps. When released into an area with no new season fruit crop the mean distance travelled by the flies was over 400 m during the first 7 days. When released at an earlier stage into an olive grove with 30% of trees bearing a fruit crop estimated dispersal rates were lower (approx. 180 m in 7 days). These results indicate that adults which emerge in late May and June in areas with no new season fruit crop, which is a common situation because of the biannual fruiting cycle of the olive tree, start to disperse immediately despite the hot dry conditions and immaturity of the fruit in other areas. The significance of these findings in relation to current control strategies is discussed.
Résumé En 1977 et 1979, la dispersion des adultes de Dacus oleae a été étudiée en juin-juillet sur deux sites de l'île de Corfou, afin de réunir des informations concernant leur comportement en été. Des adultes élevés au laboratoire, et marqués à l'émergence avec une poudre fluorescente, ont été libérés dans une oliveraie au centre d'un réseau de trappes McPhail contenant un attractif d'hydrolisat de protéines et disposées en forme de croix. Les mouches capturées étaient prélevées régulièrement et examinées au laboratoire sous lumière ultraviolette. L'analyse des captures de mouches marquées a permis de définir la distance moyenne parcourue après le lâcher en fonction du temps (Fletcher & Economopoulos, 1976).La distance moyenne parcourue par les mouches la première semaine était de plus de 400 m si le lâcher avait lieu dans une oliveraie dépourvue de fruits; elle était de quelque 180 m si le lâcher avait lieu plus tôt, dans une oliveraie dont 30% des arbres portaient des fruits. Il est done plausible que les adultes émergeant en mai-juin dans des oliveraies dépourvues de fruits—situation courante à Corfou en raison de la fructification en général cyclique et synchronisée tous les deux ans des oliviers—se déplacent aussitôt en dépit du climat sec et chaud et de l'absence de fruits mûrs alentour. Les résultats montrent qu'en été, les mouches quittent leur zone d'émergence si les olives mûrissantes font défaut pour se concentrer dans des oliveraies portant de nouveaux fruits, confirmant ainsi le bien-fondé de la lutte actuellement pratiquée à Corfou.

1 Laboratory-reared normal, and wild female Mediterranean fruit flies, Ceratitis capitata (Wiedemann), were assayed in outdoor field cages to assess the impact of a mating-induced behavioural switch on mating and subsequent oviposition activity. 2 Virgin females preferred interactions with males leading to mating over attraction to, and oviposition in, artificial yellow spheres containing guava odour or green apples hung in a guava tree. Laboratory-reared females previously mated with either laboratory-reared normal males or laboratory-reared irradiated (sterile) males showed little interest in remating with males and instead, were much more likely to be found arrested on artificial and real fruit and ovipositing. Oviposition on artificial fruit was five times greater by females that had mated with either normal or irradiated males than by virgin females. Wild females showed similar qualitative changes in the mating-induced behavioural switch; however, oviposition activity was significantly less than for laboratory-reared females. 3 These results confirm that mating has a profound effect on the behaviour of female Mediterranean fruit flies and that irradiated males are functionally equal with normal males (lab-reared or wild) in their ability to alter female behaviour. These results are discussed in the context of the sterile insect technique for control of Mediterranean fruit flies in the field.  相似文献

While the cultivated olive tree (Olea europaea L.) is known to be sclerophyllous and effective at tolerating drought, little is known of its short-term water-use dynamics for most studies have been based on longer-term, water-balance information. We present here, for the first time, heat-pulse measurements of the sap flux measured not only within the semi-trunk of an olive tree, but also within a root excavated close to the stump. One tree in the olive grove near Seville in Spain had regularly received basin irrigation during the summer, whereas the other, growing on this deep silt loam, had been without water for over 3 months. Following a flood irrigation of 730 L to a dyked area around the tree, the regularly-irrigated olive maintained a transpiration rate of 1.65 mm3 mm–2 d–1, on a leaf area basis, for only 3 days following the irrigation. This rate was maintained for a total consumption of 110 L. It then began again to limit its rate of water use with transpiration falling below that predicted for well-watered conditions by the Penman-Monteith equation. The flow of sap in the near-surface root dropped concomitantly. Meanwhile the unirrigated tree was using water at just 0.78 mm d–1. Yet following an irrigation of 870 L it only lifted its consumption to 1.12 mm d–1, on a leaf area basis. Neither did it recover its leaf water potential following this wetting because of an inability to refill cavitated vessels. These data again show olive to be a parsimonious and cautious consumer of soil water.  相似文献

Neophilaenus campestris is one of the spittlebugs (Hemiptera: Cercopoidea) able to transmit Xylella fastidiosa to olive trees. Considering its vector ability and the wide distribution of this species in Spain, N. campestris should be considered a serious threat to key crops such as olive, almonds and grapevines. Migration and dispersal abilities of insect vectors have profound implications in the spread of vector-borne diseases. Thus, knowledge on the dispersal ability of N. campestris is essential to model, predict and limit the spread of the diseases caused by X. fastidiosa. A mass-mark-recapture technique was developed to track between-field movements of N. campestris during its late spring migration from the ground cover grasses within olive groves to sheltered areas dominated by pine trees. The fluorescent dust used for marking did not affect the survival nor the flying ability of N. campestris. Spittlebug adults captured in olive groves during late spring were dusted with fluorescent colours and released in different locations. Six recapture samplings were performed 23–42 days after release in 12 different sites located within a maximum distance of 2.8 km from the release point. Results indicated that N. campestris was able to disperse a maximum distance of 2,47 m in 35 days. Furthermore, flight mill studies showed that N. campestris was able to fly long distances, reaching 1.4 km in an 82-min single flight. Altogether, our findings suggest that eradication measures are of limited value because vectors are able to disperse rapidly over distances much longer than expected.  相似文献

Aims: To isolate Bacillus thuringiensis strains from different olive‐related habitats (olive groves and olive oil factories) in Turkey and to characterize these strains by molecular methods. Methods and Results: A total of 150 samples, consisting of olive grove soil, green olive leaves, olive leaf residues, animal faeces, olive pomace and dust, were examined for the presence of B. thuringiensis. One hundred B. thuringiensis strains were isolated from 54 environmental samples (36%) and characterized in terms of crystal morphology, cry and cyt gene content by polymerase chain reaction, plasmid profiles and 16S‐internal transcribed spacer ribosomal DNA restriction fragment length polymorphism (16S‐ITS rDNA RFLP). The highest percentage of samples containing B. thuringiensis was found in 38 out of 54 total soil samples (70%). Of the 100 B. thuringiensis isolates, the most frequent crystal shapes were irregularly shaped (24%), spherical‐irregular pointed (19%), cuboidal (17%) and spherical (16%). The cry1 plus cry4 genotype was the most abundant genotype in our collection (21%). RFLP analysis of the amplified 16S‐ITS rDNA revealed 11 distinct patterns for the isolates and 10 reference strains. Conclusions: Bacillus thuringiensis isolates showed a great genetic diversity and crystal shape heterogeneity. Significance and Impact of the Study: This is the first study on the isolation and characterization of B. thuringiensis from olive‐related habitats in Turkey. No correlation was observed between the cry genotypes and insecticidal crystal shapes of the isolates. Restriction profiles of 23% of the isolates were found to be different from those of the 10 reference strains used.  相似文献

Micropropagated plants from two wild-olive species, Olea maderensis and O. europaea ssp. europaea var. sylvestris were screened for genetic stability. O. maderensis shoots were elongated/multiplied on OMG medium with zeatin (9.12 μM), and rooted on 1/2 OMG with NAA (3.22 μM). O. europaea var. sylvestris shoots were elongated/multiplied on OM medium with zeatin, and rooting was optimal after a hormonal shock (IBA 100 μM) followed by transfer to the same medium without growth regulators. In both species, acclimatization was successful and plants looked normal and morphologically identical to the donor field trees. Genetic variability was assessed at several stages of the micropropagation process using flow cytometry (FCM) and nuclear microsatellites (SSR). No changes in ploidy level were found among micropropagated plants, though small deviations, putatively due to the negative effects of cytosolic compounds on propidium iodide staining, between these and field plants were observed. In SSRs analyses, ten SSR markers were able to distinguish between genotypes. No mutations were found in these tested SSR loci among the donor tree and micropropagated plants, suggesting, for the tested markers, genetic uniformity throughout the process. The FCM and SSR results obtained do not exclude the occurrence of other changes in the nuclear genome but, considering the morphological stability of micropropagated plants, indicate that both protocols are suitable and efficient for large scale, true-to-type micropropagation of these two wild olive species.  相似文献

In this study the seasonal and daily variations in olive airborne pollen concentrations were measured in the atmosphere of Sassari (Italy) and the olive pollen emission was monitored in the countryside during the flowering period in 1995 and 1996, in order to detect the patterns of change in the atmosphere. The intensity and the timing of pollination was also studied in relation to phenological stages occurrence. In addition, the influence of the main meteorological parameters on pollen emission and airborne pollen dispersal in the city was assessed. Airborne pollen reached its highest concentration a few days before the peak of pollen emission in 1995 but several days after it in 1996 (6 days). Analysis of hourly concentrations shows that the maximum emission and dispersion recorded during the observation period occurred in the middle of the day. Significant regressions were found between hourly temperature and air humidity values and hourly pollen concentrations recorded in the olive grove for almost every day studied, indicating a negative correlation between humidity and pollen concentration and a positive correlation between pollen concentration and temperature. On the other hand, no significant correlation was observed between the meteorological parameters and pollen concentration recorded in the urban area.  相似文献

Conditioned taste aversion (CTA) is a useful tool to modify animal feed preferences, allowing the implementation of selective grazing to control weeds in tree orchards without damaging the trees or affecting fruit production. LiCl is commonly used for inducing CTA. However, studies investigating the long-term persistence of CTA by LiCl in small ruminants are scarce. With this aim, we evaluated the efficiency of two LiCl doses (AV1 and AV2, 175 and 200 mg/kg BW, respectively) and a control (C, 0 mg/kg BW) for averting non-lactating dairy goats (n=15) to olive tree leaves. Aversion induction was reinforced on day 9 in those goats that consumed >10 g of olive leaves. Mid-term aversion effectiveness was assessed by five double-choice feeding tests (days 16, 24, 31, 38 and 53) of 30 min each, where 100 g of olive leaves were offered side-by-side with 390 g of Italian rye-grass (as-fed). Long-term aversion effectiveness was assessed in C, AV1 and AV2 goats by grazing for 30 min in paddocks with a simulated olive tree (days 59, 90, 121, 182 and 420). Moreover, C and AV2 goats were compared under on-field conditions (days 143, 211 and 363) in a commercial olive grove also for 30 min. The CTA proved to be established with a single LiCl dose in all goats and persisted for 4 and 55 days in AV1 and AV2 goats, respectively (P<0.001). However, 80% AV1 and 20% AV2 goats needed to be reinforced at day 9. When grazing under simulated olive tree and commercial olive grove conditions, the CTA goats, especially AV2 group, avoided the contact with the olive trees and minimally used a bipedal stance to feed leaves, than control goats. On average, time proportion spent consuming olive leaves and sprouts was much greater (P<0.05) for C (50.7±9.1%) than for AV1 (14.4±3.9%) and AV2 (3.1±0.9%). In conclusion, the 200 mg LiCl/kg BW dose was more effective than the 175 mg LiCl/kg BW dose for inducing an effective long-term CTA to olive tree leaves in goats.  相似文献
