The immune suppression that characterizes human helminth infections can hinder the development of protective immunity or help to reduce pathogenic inflammation. Signaling through the T cell costimulator glucocorticoid-induced TNFR-related protein (GITR) counteracts immune downregulation by augmenting effector T cell responses and abrogating suppression by Foxp3(+) regulatory T cells. Thus, superphysiological Ab-mediated GITR costimulation represents a novel therapy for promoting protective immunity toward parasitic helminths, whereas blocking physiological GITR-GITR ligand (GITRL) interactions may provide a mechanism for dampening pathogenic Th2 inflammation. We investigated the superphysiological and physiological roles of the GITR-GITRL pathway in the development of protective and pathogenic Th2 responses in murine infection models of filariasis (Litomosoides sigmodontis) and schistosomiasis (Schistosoma mansoni). Providing superphysiological GITR costimulation using an agonistic anti-GITR mAb over the first 12 d of L. sigmodontis infection initially increased the quantity of Th2 cells, as well as their ability to produce Th2 cytokines. However, as infection progressed, the Th2 responses reverted to normal infection levels, and parasite killing remained unaffected. Despite the Th2-promoting role of superphysiological GITR costimulation, Ab-mediated blockade of the GITR-GITRL pathway did not affect Th2 cell priming or maintenance during L. sigmodontis infection. Blockade of GITR-GITRL interactions during the acute egg phase of S. mansoni infection resulted in reduced Th2 responses, but this effect was confined to the spleen and did not lead to changes in liver pathology. Thus, although superphysiological GITR costimulation can therapeutically enhance Th2 responses, physiological GITR-GITRL interactions are not required for the development of Th2-mediated resistance or pathology in murine models of filariasis and schistosomiasis.  相似文献

Cancer metastasis involves multiple factors, one of which is the production and secretion of matrix degrading proteases by the cancer cells. Many metastasizing cancer cells secrete the lysosomal proteases, cathepsins L and B, which implicates them in the metastatic process. Cathepsins L and B are regulated by endogenous cysteine proteinase inhibitors (CPI) known as cystatins. An imbalance between cathepsin L and/or B and cystatin expression/activity may be a characteristic of the metastatic phenotype. To determine whether cystatins can attenuate the invasive ability of PC3 prostate cancer cells, cells were transfected with a cDNA coding for chicken cystatin. Expression of chicken cystatin mRNA was determined by PCR analysis. Total cysteine proteinase inhibitory activity, cathepsins L+B activity, and invasion through a Matrigel® matrix were assessed. Stably transfected cells expressed the chicken cystatin mRNA and exhibited a significant decrease in secreted cathepsin L+B activity and a small increase in secreted cysteine proteinase inhibitor activity. The ability of cystatin transfected cells to invade the reconstituted basement membrane, Matrigel®, was attenuated compared to nontransfected cells or cells transfected with vector alone. We have demonstrated that the cysteine proteinases cathepsins L and B participate in the invasive ability of the PC3 prostate cancer cell line, and we discuss here the potential of using cysteine proteinase inhibitors such as the cystatins as anti-metastatic agents.  相似文献

Chronic helminth infections induce a type 2 immune response characterized by eosinophilia, high levels of IgE, and increased T cell production of type 2 cytokines. Because basophils have been shown to be substantial contributors of IL-4 in helminth infections, and because basophils are capable of inducing Th2 differentiation of CD4(+) T cells and IgE isotype switching in B cells, we hypothesized that basophils function to amplify type 2 immune responses in chronic helminth infection. To test this, we evaluated basophil function using the Litomosoides sigmodontis filaria model of chronic helminth infection in BALB/c mice. Time-course studies showed that eosinophilia, parasite Ag-specific CD4(+) T cell production of IL-4 and IL-5 and basophil activation and IL-4 production in response to parasite Ag all peak late (6-8 wk) in the course of L. sigmodontis infection, after parasite-specific IgE has become detectable. Mixed-gender and single-sex worm implantation experiments demonstrated that the relatively late peak of these responses was not dependent on the appearance of circulating microfilariae, but may be due to initial low levels of parasite Ag load and/or habitation of the developing worms in the pleural space. Depletion of basophils throughout the course of L. sigmodontis infection caused significant decreases in total and parasite-specific IgE, eosinophilia, and parasite Ag-driven CD4(+) T cell proliferation and IL-4 production, but did not alter total worm numbers. These results demonstrate that basophils amplify type 2 immune responses, but do not serve a protective role, in chronic infection of mice with the filarial nematode L. sigmodontis.  相似文献

Cystatin are thiol proteinase inhibitors ubiquitously present in mammalian body and serve various important physiological functions. In the present study two cystatins were isolated from goat brain using alkaline treatment, ammonium sulphate fractionation, gel filtration and ion exchange chromatography. The high molecular mass cystatin of 70.8 kDa was named as HM-GBC (high molecular mass goat brain cystatin) and the low molecular mass cystatin of 12.72 kDa was named as LM-GBC (low molecular mass goat brain cystatin). The molecular mass determined by SDS-PAGE was found to be 70.8 and 12.88 kDa for HM-GBC and LM-GBC, respectively, however with gel filtration the masses were found to be 70.8 and 12.58 kDa. Both the cystatins were found to be stable in broad range of pH and temperature. HM-GBC was found to have 2% carbohydrate content while LM-GBC lacks any carbohydrate content. Both cystatins were found to be devoid of any sulphydryl content. Stoke's radii of 36 and 16 A, and diffusion coefficient of 6.189 x 10(-15) and 1.392 x 10(-14) cm(2)/s were calculated for HM-GBC and LM-GBC. K (i) values with papain were found to be 1.875 x 10(-8) and 3.125 x 10(-8) M for HM-GBC and LM-GBC, respectively. K (+1), K (-1) and half-life calculated along with K (i) values obtained showed that HM-GBC inhibited papain more specifically as compared to LM-GBC. The IC(50) values obtained for HM-GBC and LM-GBC also showed that HM-GBC binds more effectively to papain than LM-GBC. Ultraviolet and fluorescence spectra indicated that upon formation of papain-HM-GBC/LM-GBC complex there is significant conformational change after interaction in one or both the proteins of the complex.  相似文献

Cystatins are present in mammals, birds, fish, insects, plants, fungi and protozoa and constitute a large protein family, with most members sharing a cysteine protease inhibitory function. In humans 12 functional cystatins exist, forming three groups based on molecular organisation and distribution in the organism. The type 1 cystatins (A and B) are known as intracellular, type 2 cystatins (C, D, E/M, F, G, S, SN and SA) extracellular and type 3 cystatins (L- and H-kininogen) intravascular proteins. The present paper is focused on the human cystatins and especially those of type 2, which are directed (with signal peptides) for cellular export following translation. Results indicating existence of systems for significant internalisation of type 2 cystatins from the extracellular to intracellular compartments are reviewed. Data showing that human neuroblastoma cell lines generally secrete high levels, but also contain high amounts of cystatin C are presented. Culturing of these cells in medium containing cystatin C at concentrations found in body fluids resulted in increased intracellular cystatin C, as a result of an uptake process. At immunofluorescence cytochemistry a pronounced vesicular cystatin C staining was observed. The simplistic denotation of the type 2 cystatins as extracellular inhibitors is thus challenged, and possible biological functions of the internalised cystatins are discussed. To illustrate the special case of high cellular cystatin content seen in cells of patients with hereditary cystatin C amyloid angiopathy, expression vectors for wild-type and L68Q mutated cystatin C were used to transfect SK-N-BE(2) cells. Clones overexpressing the two variants showed increased secreted levels of cystatin C. Within the cells the L68Q variant appeared to mainly localise to the endoplasmic reticulum rather than to acidic vesicular organelles, indicating limitations in the transport out from the cell rather than increased uptake as explanation for the elevated cellular cystatin levels seen in hereditary cystatin C amyloid angiopathy.  相似文献

Cystatins are cysteine protease inhibitors that are widespread in the plant and animal kingdoms. Cystatins are expressed by helminth parasites that may employ these proteins to regulate parasite cysteine protease activity and to modulate host immune responses. Here, we describe the cloning of a cDNA encoding a high molecular weight protein of Fasciola hepatica that contains two domains with significant identity to the cardinal cystatin signatures and four domains with degenerated cystatin signatures. This is the first report of a multi-domain cystatin in an invertebrate species. While cystatins are divided into three evolutionary related families, our phylogenetic analysis shows that all cystatin domains within this protein, like several other helminth cystatins, belong to the cystatin family 2. The DNA region encoding the domain 4 that is the best conserved at the level of its cystatin signatures was expressed in Drosophila cells and a recombinant protein was produced and purified. This protein was a potent inhibitor of the papain and of the major cysteine protease of F. hepatica, the cathepsin L1.  相似文献

Litomosoides sigmodontis in the BALB/c mouse is the only model of filariasis which allows the observation of the complete development in an immunocompetent mouse. In this study, we injected microfilariae (mf) intravenously, as well as into the pleural cavity, the site of natural release of mf from adult female worms, and followed the kinetics of elimination within the host. In susceptible BALB/c mice, mf circulated at high levels in the blood. In contrast, in C57BL/6 mice, which are refractory to full development, mf were eliminated rapidly from the peripheral blood. However, 6 days after intrapleural injection, viable larvae could be found in the pleural cavity and lung capillaries of both susceptible and resistant strains. The numbers of mf in the pleural cavity and lung capillaries in individual mice were significantly correlated, but not dependent on strain or peripheral microfilaraemia. Thus, although C57BL/6 mice showed enhanced production of nitric oxide by pleural exudate cells and a faster change in the numbers of circulating leukocytes after injection, rapid killing of mf by cell or nitric oxide-mediated mechanisms were not the reason for the different outcome. Furthermore, 3 h after iv injection, only a small percentage of mf could be recovered from the peripheral circulation, indicating the presence of a reservoir for mf containment. In conclusion, injected mf showed disparate dynamics of persistence within susceptible and resistant hosts, which is similar to the disparate outcome of natural infections with L. sigmodontis. This difference became obvious within 1 day after injection. The lung capillary system plays obviously a crucial part in regulation of microfilaremia. Our model also provides a possible means to explain frequent cases of occult infections in human filariasis.  相似文献

Secretory type 2 cystatins, like cystatins C, E/M and F, are thought to be involved in many pathobiological processes, including vascular amyloidosis, rheumatoid arthritis, Alzheimer's disease, osteoporosis, viral and bacterial infections, inflammatory disorders and tumour invasion and metastasis. In order to define the levels of cystatins C, E/M, and F in pleural effusions and to investigate whether these cystatins correlate with diagnostic parameters of pleural and lung diseases, we determined their concentrations in 160 pleural effusions. The median concentration of cystatin C in pleural effusions was 1437 microg/l (95.8 nM), ranging between 18-3967 microg/l. Cystatin C did neither correlate with malignant nor with benign diseases. The concentration of cystatin E/M was significantly higher in effusions of primary pleural tumours (mesotheliomas) compared to secondary pleural tumours and benign diseases. Furthermore, there was a significant correlation between the concentration of cystatin E/M of mesotheliomas and the pleural fluid tumour cell count and of cystatin C. The median values of cystatin F were significantly increased in parapneumonic/empyema thoracis pleural effusions and tuberculous pleurisy compared to malignant pleural effusions, respectively. The concentration of cystatin F in benign effusions correlated significantly with diagnostic parameters and inflammation (total protein; lactate dehydrogenase; C-reactive protein). Finally, only in the group of parapneumonic/empyema thotatin F and the neutrophil count. In conclusion, pleural effusions of different origin contain high levels of cystatin C, perhaps constituting the major part of an inhibitor reservoir. The level of cystatin E/M appears to be significantly associated with primary pleural tumours and cystatin F correlates with inflammatory processes of lung disorders.  相似文献

The T cell coinhibitory receptor CTLA-4 has been implicated in the down-regulation of T cell function that is a quintessential feature of chronic human filarial infections. In a laboratory model of filariasis, Litomosoides sigmodontis infection of susceptible BALB/c mice, we have previously shown that susceptibility is linked both to a CD4+ CD25+ regulatory T (Treg) cell response, and to the development of hyporesponsive CD4+ T cells at the infection site, the pleural cavity. We now provide evidence that L. sigmodontis infection drives the proliferation and activation of CD4+ Foxp3+ Treg cells in vivo, demonstrated by increased uptake of BrdU and increased expression of CTLA-4, Foxp3, GITR, and CD25 compared with naive controls. The greatest increases in CTLA-4 expression were, however, seen in the CD4+ Foxp3- effector T cell population which contained 78% of all CD4+ CTLA-4+ cells in the pleural cavity. Depletion of CD25+ cells from the pleural CD4+ T cell population did not increase their Ag-specific proliferative response in vitro, suggesting that their hyporesponsive phenotype is not directly mediated by CD4+ CD25+ Treg cells. Once infection had established, killing of adult parasites could be enhanced by neutralization of CTLA-4 in vivo, but only if performed in combination with the depletion of CD25+ Treg cells. This work suggests that during filarial infection CTLA-4 coinhibition and CD4+ CD25+ Treg cells form complementary components of immune regulation that inhibit protective immunity in vivo.  相似文献

Chicken egg white cystatin was first described in the late 1960s. Since then, our knowledge about a superfamily of similar proteins present in mammals, birds, fish, insects, plants and some protozoa has expanded, and their properties as potent peptidase inhibitors have been firmly established. Today, 12 functional chicken cystatin relatives are known in humans, but a few evolutionarily related gene products still remain to be characterized. The type 1 cystatins (A and B) are mainly intracellular, the type 2 cystatins (C, D, E/M, F, G, S, SN and SA) are extracellular, and the type 3 cystatins (L- and H-kininogens) are intravascular proteins. All true cystatins inhibit cysteine peptidases of the papain (C1) family, and some also inhibit legumain (C13) family enzymes. These peptidases play key roles in physiological processes, such as intracellular protein degradation (cathepsins B, H and L), are pivotal in the remodelling of bone (cathepsin K), and may be important in the control of antigen presentation (cathepsin S, mammalian legumain). Moreover, the activities of such peptidases are increased in pathophysiological conditions, such as cancer metastasis and inflammation. Additionally, such peptidases are essential for several pathogenic parasites and bacteria. Thus cystatins not only have capacity to regulate normal body processes and perhaps cause disease when down-regulated, but may also participate in the defence against microbial infections. In this chapter, we have aimed to summarize our present knowledge about the human cystatins.  相似文献

Of seven human cystatins investigated, none inhibited the cysteine proteases staphopain A and B secreted by the human pathogen Staphylococcus aureus. Rather, the extracellular cystatins C, D and E/M were hydrolyzed by both staphopains. Based on MALDI-TOF time-course experiments, staphopain A cleavage of cystatin C and D should be physiologically relevant and occur upon S. aureus infection. Staphopain A hydrolyzed the Gly11 bond of cystatin C and the Ala10 bond of cystatin D with similar Km values of approximately 33 and 32 microM, respectively. Such N-terminal truncation of cystatin C caused >300-fold lower inhibition of papain, cathepsin B, L and K, whereas the cathepsin H activity was compromised by a factor of ca. 10. Similarly, truncation of cystatin D caused alleviated inhibition of all endogenous target enzymes investigated. The normal activity of the cystatins is thus down-regulated, indicating that the bacterial enzymes can cause disturbance of the host protease-inhibitor balance. To illustrate the in vivo consequences, a mixed cystatin C assay showed release of cathepsin B activity in the presence of staphopain A. Results presented for the specificity of staphopains when interacting with cystatins as natural protein substrates could aid in the development of therapeutic agents directed toward these proteolytic virulence factors.  相似文献

Human salivary cystatins, five major (S, S1, S2, SA, SN) and two minor (C and D), are multifunctional proteins playing a different role in the oral environment. Salivary cystatin SN is able to effectively inhibit lysosomal cathepsins B, C, H and L and cystatin SA inhibits cathepsins C and L in vitro. These activities suggest, particularly for cystatin SN, an important role in the control of proteolytic events in vivo. Differently, cystatins S are involved, together with statherin, in the mineral balance of the tooth. Due to their distinct role, a reliable method for identification and quantification of the different cystatins, as well as of possible truncated and derived forms, could be helpful for the assessment of the status of the oral cavity. To this purpose high-performance liquid chromatography electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (HPLC-ESI MS) was applied to the analysis of human saliva obtained from healthy subjects. All known salivary cystatins, with the exception of cystatin C, were detected. Strong evidence was also obtained for the presence in saliva of post-translational modified isoforms of cystatins, which may be related to donor habits. Cystatin SN and cystatins S, S1 and S2 were well separated by HPLC-ESI MS coupling from other components and thus this approach can be successfully applied to their quantification.  相似文献

When an excess of human cystatin C or chicken cystatin was mixed with papain, an enzyme-inhibitor complex was formed immediately. The residual free cystatin was then progressively converted to a form with different electrophoretic mobility and chromatographic properties. The modified cystatins were isolated and sequenced, showing that there had been cleavage of a single peptide bond in each molecule: Gly11-Gly12 in cystatin C, and Gly9-Ala10 in chicken cystatin. The residues Gly11 (cystatin C) and Gly9 (chicken cystatin) are among only three residues conserved in all known sequences of inhibitory cystatins. The modified cystatins were at least 1000-fold weaker inhibitors of papain than the native cystatins. An 18-residue synthetic peptide corresponding to residues 4-21 of cystatin C did not inhibit papain but was cleaved at the same Gly-Gly bond as cystatin C. When iodoacetate or L-3-carboxy-trans-2,3-epoxypropionyl-leucylamido-(4-guanidin o)butane was added to the mixtures of either cystatin with papain, modification of the excess cystatin was blocked. Papain-cystatin complexes were stable to prolonged incubation, even in the presence of excess papain. We conclude that the peptidyl bond of the conserved glycine residue in human cystatin C and chicken cystatin probably is part of a substrate-like inhibitory reactive site of these cysteine proteinase inhibitors of the cystatin superfamily and that this may be true also for other inhibitors of this superfamily. We also propose that human cystatin C and chicken cystatin, and probably other cystatins as well, inhibit cysteine proteinases by the simultaneous interactions with such proteinases of the inhibitory reactive sites and other, so far not identified, areas of the cystatins. The cleavage of the inhibitory reactive site glycyl bond in mixtures of papain with excess quantities of cystatins is apparently due to the activity of a small percentage of atypical cysteine proteinase molecules in the papain preparation that form only very loose complexes with cystatins under the conditions employed and degrade the free cystatin molecules.  相似文献

Onchocerciasis and lymphatic filariasis (LF) are major causes of severe morbidity and considerable socio-economic problems throughout the tropics. Vector control and mass chemotherapy have helped to control these infections in some regions, but the temporary success of such measures argues strongly for the development of vaccines. Success in such a venture will require detailed knowledge of protective immune responses in conjunction with the identification of target antigens. By comparison with other important parasitic infections, such as schistosomiasis and leishmaniasis, work on the development of vaccines for onchocerciasis and LF has been constrained because of the difficulties of producing cyclical and patent filarial infection in laboratory mice. Wolfgang Hoffmann and colleagues here outline the opportunities presented by the rodent filaria Litomosoides sigmodontis for filarial research.  相似文献

Kiwifruit cysteine proteinase inhibitors (KCPIs) were purified from the cortex and seeds of kiwifruit after inactivation of the abundant cortex cysteine proteinase actinidain. One major (KCPI1) and four minor cystatins were identified from Actinidia deliciosa ripe mature kiwifruit cortex as well as a seed KCPI from A. chinensis. The predominant cortex cystatin, KCPI1, inhibited clan CA, family C1 (papain family) cysteine proteinases (papain, chymopapain, bromelain, ficin, human cathepsins B, H and L, actinidain and the house dust mite endopeptidase 1), while cysteine proteinases belonging to other families, [clostripain (C11), streptopain (C10) and calpain (C2)] were not inhibited. Inhibition constants (K(I)) ranged between 0.001 nM for cathepsin L and 0.98 nM for endopeptidase 1. The K(I) (14 nM) for KCPI1 inhibiting actinidain is at least 2 orders of magnitude higher than for other plant proteinases measured. The cortex KCPI1 and a seed KCPI purified from seeds had the same N-terminal sequence (VAAGGWRPIESLNSAEVQDV). BLAST-matching the peptide sequence against an in-house generated Actinidia EST database, identified 81 cDNAs that exactly matched the measured KCPI1 peptide sequence. Peptide sequences of two other cortex KCPIs each exactly matched a predicted peptide sequence of a cDNA from kiwifruit. The predicted peptide sequence of KCPI1 of 116 amino acids encodes a signal peptide and does not contain cysteine. Without the signal peptide (mature protein), KCPI1 has a molecular mass of approximately 11 kDa, possesses the consensus sequence characteristic for the phytocystatins and shows the highest homology to a cystatin from Citrusxparadisi (52% identity). This is the first report of phytocystatins from the Ericales.  相似文献

Cystatins are natural tight-binding, reversible inhibitors of cysteine proteases. We have shown that cystatins also stimulate nitric oxide (NO) production by interferon-gamma-activated mouse peritoneal macrophages [Verdot, L., Lalmanach, G., Vercruysse, V., Hartman, S., Lucius, R., Hoebeke, J., Gauthier F. & Vray, B. (1996) J. Biol. Chem. 271, 28077-28081]. The present study was undertaken to further document this new function. Macrophages activated with interferon-gamma and then stimulated with interferon-gamma plus chicken cystatin generated increased amounts of NO in comparison with macrophages only activated with interferon-gamma. Interferon-gamma-activated macrophages must be incubated with chicken cystatin for at least 8 h to upregulate NO production. NO induction was due to increased inducible nitric oxide synthase protein synthesis. Macrophages incubated with chicken cystatin alone or with interferon-gamma plus chicken cystatin produced increased amounts of both tumor necrosis factor alpha and interleukin 10. The addition of recombinant murine tumor necrosis factor alpha alone or in combination with recombinant murine interleukin-10 mimicked the effect of chicken cystatin. The addition of neutralizing anti-(tumor necrosis factor alpha) antibodies reduced sharply NO production by chicken cystatin/interferon-gamma-activated mouse peritoneal macrophages. Taken together, these data suggest that chicken cystatin induces the synthesis of tumor necrosis factor alpha and interleukin 10. In turn, these two cytokines stimulate the production of NO by interferon-gamma-activated macrophages. The findings point to a new relationship between cystatins, cytokines, inflammation and the immune response.  相似文献

A multidomain cystatin was purified from the leaves of mature and seedling tomato plants (Lycopersicon esculentum, cv Bonnie Best) that had been sprayed with methyl jasmonate. For seedlings, cystatin purification was accomplished using EDTA washing, KCI extraction, 70 degrees C heat treatment, ammonium sulfate fractionation and gel filtration chromatography. For mature plants, DEAE chromatography was also needed to separate a protease, hydrolysis products of cystatin and serine proteinase inhibitors from the intact cystatin. Purified tomato cystatin has a molecular weight (Mr) of 88 kDa, eight papain binding domains, is a non-competitive inhibitor of papain with K1 of 1.4 nM and is not a glycoprotein. Tryptic peptides (Mr 26, 13 kDa) and most chymotryptic peptides (Mr 33, 13 kDa) of tomato cystatin retain inhibitor activity. Amino acid analysis revealed no Cys; Asx, Glx, Gly, Ser accounted for almost half the residues and there was some homology with potato multicystatin. Activity is stable at pH 4-11 at 4 degrees C, but unstable at neutral pH at > 60 degrees C (Ea = 92.5 kJ/mole). Extracts of mature plants treated with methyl jasmonate contain lower Mr cystatins that appear to result from the action of an endogenous 26 kDa protease on the 88 kDa inhibitor.  相似文献

Recently opposing effects of cysteine protease inhibitors, the human cystatins, on neurodegeneration have been reported. Human cystatin C is a risk factor for late‐onset Alzheimer's disease (AD), whereas human stefin B (cystatin B) has no direct involvement in AD. Conflicting data show that their target protease, cathepsin B, might be anti‐amyloidogenic, helping in amyloid‐beta (Aβ) clearance or, instead, might be involved in Aβ production. Some reports claim that cystatin C binds soluble Aβ, making transgenic animals healthier, others, in contrast, that deleting cystatins genes may contribute to amyloid pathology in animal models of AD.  相似文献

Recently, it has been demonstrated that family 2 cystatins upregulate interleukin-6 production by human gingival fibroblasts. In the present study, we investigated the effects of cystatin SA on cytokine production by helper T cells. Human CD4-positive T cells were cultured with phytohemagglutinin in the presence or absence of 0.1 microM recombinant cystatin SA1 or SA2. When the amounts of interleukin-4 (IL-4) and interferon-gamma (IFNgamma) were analyzed in an ELISA system after stimulation with either cystatin, no significantly increased levels of IL-4 were detected. However, the amounts of IFNgamma were significantly increased after stimulation with the cystatins. Our results suggest that salivary family 2 cystatins are involved in immune responses through the cytokine network.  相似文献
