Reduced and oxidized hepatic glutathione was evaluated during alcoholic and non alcoholic liver injury. We studied 35 chronic alcoholics, 20 patients with non alcoholic liver diseases, 15 control subjects. Hepatic glutathione was measured in liver biopsies and correlated with histology and laboratory tests. Alcoholic and non alcoholic patients exhibited a significant decrease of hepatic glutathione compared to control subjects (controls: 4.14 +/- 0.1 mumol/g liver; alcoholics: 2.55 +/- 0.1, p less than 0.001; non alcoholics 2.77 +/- 0.1, p less than 0.001). Oxidized glutathione was significantly higher in the two groups of patients compared to controls (controls: 4.4 +/- 0.2% of total; alcoholics 8.2 +/- 0.3, p less than 0.001; non alcoholics: 8.5 +/- 0.8, p less than 0.001). The decreased hepatic glutathione levels in patients with alcoholic and non alcoholic liver diseases may represent a contributing factor of liver injury and may enhance the risk of toxicity in these patients.  相似文献

Several studies have shown that chronic alcoholics have increased susceptibility to infections due to higher exposure to infectious agents as well as breakdown in their immune defenses. As Strongyloides stercoralis infection is usually more relevant in immunocompromised patients, the aim of this study was to evaluate the frequency of S. stercoralis infection in alcoholics. Thus, coproparasitological examination was carried out in 145 subjects, from which 45 were chronic alcoholics (mean age of 45.7 +/- 11.0 years), 10 were nonalcoholic cirrhotic patients (mean age of 50.2 +/- 13.1 years), and 90 were asymptomatic nonalcoholic subjects (mean age of 46.7 +/- 10.1 years), which served as controls. From the alcoholics, 9 had hepatic cirrhosis, 9 had chronic pancreatitis and 27 had neither cirrhosis nor pancreatitis. For the diagnosis of strongyloidiasis, the Baermann-Moraes and Lutz methods were used in three fecal samples from each subject. Samples were collected at alternated days, and three slides of each sample were analyzed for each method, thus totalizing 2,610 slides examined. The frequency of strongloidiasis in the total alcoholic group (33.3%) and in the subgroups of alcoholics, i.e., patients with hepatic cirrhosis (44.4%), with chronic pancreatitis (33.3%), and those with no cirrhosis or pancreatitis (29.6%) was statistically higher than that found in the control group (5.5%). None of the individuals with nonalcoholic hepatic cirrhosis had S. stercoralis infection. Our results showed that the chronic alcoholism itself is an important factor that predisposes to strongyloidiasis.  相似文献

Serum apoproteins A and B and LCAT activities were estimated in 80 patients, 46 with posthepatic cirrhosis and 34 with alcoholic cirrhosis. The cirrhosis patients were also divided into compensated, decompensated, and hepatic coma subgroups. Apo-A and LCAT activities were significantly decreased in both cirrhotic groups without any significant difference between posthepatitic and alcoholic cirrhotic groups, while Apo-B was decreased in hepatic coma patients only. The decompensated cirrhosis patients showed lower Apo-A levels than the compensated cirrhosis patients and hepatic coma patients showed still lower levels compared to decompensated subgroup, while no significant decrease was observed in LCAT activities between compensated and decompensated cirrhosis patients. Apo-A level was correlated more significantly with serum albumin level than the LCAT activity. The study confirms that Apo-A level is highly related to the degree of liver injury and also suggests that this decrease may be mainly due to impaired liver synthesis and that the serum levels of Apo-A and Apo-B can be utilized in the differential diagnosis of chronic liver diseases.  相似文献

Antibodies were raised against specific peptides from N-terminal regions of the alpha1 and alpha3 isoforms of the GABA(A) receptor, and used to assess the relative expression of these proteins in the superior frontal and primary motor cortices of 10 control, nine uncomplicated alcoholic and six cirrhotic alcoholic cases were matched for age and post-mortem delay. The regression of expression on post-mortem delay was not statistically significant for either isoform in either region. In both cortical areas, the regression of alpha1 expression on age differed significantly between alcoholic cases, which showed a decrease, and normal controls, which did not. Age had no effect on alpha3 expression. The alpha1 and alpha3 isoforms were found to be expressed differentially across cortical regions and showed a tendency to be expressed differentially across case groups. In cirrhotic alcoholics, alpha1 expression was greater in superior frontal than in motor cortex, whereas this regional difference was not significant in controls or uncomplicated alcoholics. In uncomplicated alcoholics, alpha3 expression was significantly lower in superior frontal than in motor cortex. Expression of alpha1 was significantly different from that of alpha3 in the superior frontal cortex of alcoholics, but not in controls. In motor cortex, there were no significant differences in expression between the isoforms in any case group.  相似文献

Recently we demonstrated higher galectin-3 in portal venous serum (PVS) compared to hepatic venous serum (HVS) in a small cohort of patients with normal liver function suggesting hepatic removal of galectin-3. Here, galectin-3 was measured by ELISA in PVS, HVS and systemic venous blood (SVS) of 33 patients with alcoholic liver cirrhosis and a larger cohort of 11 patients with normal liver function. Galectin-3 was cleared by the healthy but not the cirrhotic liver, and subsequently HVS and SVS galectin-3 levels were significantly increased in the patients with liver cirrhosis compared to controls. In healthy liver galectin-3 was produced by cholangiocytes and synthesis by hepatocytes was only observed in cirrhotic liver. Hepatic venous pressure gradient did not correlate with galectin-3 levels excluding hepatic shunting as the principal cause of higher SVS galectin-3. Galectin-3 was elevated in all blood compartments of patients with CHILD-PUGH stage C compared to patients with CHILD-PUGH stage A, and was higher in patients with ascites than patients without this complication. Galectin-3 was negatively associated with antithrombin-3 whose synthesis is reduced with worse liver function. Galectin-3 positively correlated with urea and creatinine, and PVS galectin-3 showed a negative association with creatinine clearance as an accepted measure of kidney function. To summarize in the current study systemic, portal and hepatic levels of galectin-3 were found to be negatively associated with liver function in patients with alcoholic liver cirrhosis and this may in part be related to impaired hepatic removal and/or increased synthesis in cirrhotic liver.  相似文献

Context

Non alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the hepatic manifestation of the metabolic syndrome. NAFLD represents a spectrum of liver disease ranging from reversible hepatic steatosis, to non alcoholic steato-hepatitis (NASH) and cirrhosis. The potential role of glucocorticoids (GC) in the pathogenesis of NAFLD is highlighted in patients with GC excess, Cushing''s syndrome, who develop central adiposity, insulin resistance and in 20% of cases, NAFLD. Although in most cases of NAFLD, circulating cortisol levels are normal, hepatic cortisol availability is controlled by enzymes that regenerate cortisol (F) from inactive cortisone (E) (11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1, 11β-HSD1), or inactivate cortisol through A-ring metabolism (5α- and 5β-reductase, 5αR and 5βR).

Objective and Methods

In vitro studies defined 11β-HSD1 expression in normal and NASH liver samples. We then characterised hepatic cortisol metabolism in 16 patients with histologically proven NAFLD compared to 32 obese controls using gas chromatographic analysis of 24 hour urine collection and plasma cortisol generation profile following oral cortisone.

Results

In patients with steatosis 5αR activity was increased, with a decrease in hepatic 11β-HSD1 activity. Total cortisol metabolites were increased in this group consistent with increased GC production rate. In contrast, in patients with NASH, 11β-HSD1 activity was increased both in comparison to patients with steatosis, and controls. Endorsing these findings, 11β-HSD1 mRNA and immunostaining was markedly increased in NASH patients in peri septal hepatocytes and within CD68 positive macrophages within inflamed cirrhotic septa.

Conclusion

Patients with hepatic steatosis have increased clearance and decreased hepatic regeneration of cortisol and we propose that this may represent a protective mechanism to decrease local GC availability to preserve hepatic metabolic phenotype. With progression to NASH, increased 11β-HSD1 activity and consequent cortisol regeneration may serve to limit hepatic inflammation.  相似文献

Systemic concentrations of interleukin-6 (IL-6) are elevated in patients with liver cirrhosis, and impaired hepatic uptake of IL-6 was suggested to contribute to higher levels in these patients. To test this hypothesis IL-6 was measured in portal venous serum (PVS), hepatic venous serum (HVS) and systemic venous serum (SVS) of 41 patients with liver cirrhosis and four patients with normal liver function. IL-6 was higher in PVS than HVS of all blood donors and about 43% of portal vein derived IL-6 was extracted by the healthy liver, and 6.3% by the cirrhotic liver demonstrating markedly impaired removal of IL-6 by the latter. Whereas in patients with CHILD-PUGH stage A IL-6 in HVS was almost 25% lower than in PVS, in patients with CHILD-PUGH stage C IL-6 was similarly abundant in the two blood compartments. Ascites is a common complication in cirrhotic patients and was associated with higher IL-6 levels in all blood compartments without significant differences in hepatic excretion. Hepatic venous pressure gradient did not correlate with the degree of hepatic IL-6 removal excluding hepatic shunting as the principal cause of impaired IL-6 uptake. Furthermore, patients with alcoholic liver cirrhosis had higher IL-6 in all blood compartments than patients with cryptogenic liver cirrhosis. Aetiology of liver cirrhosis did not affect hepatic removal rate indicating higher IL-6 synthesis in patients with alcoholic liver cirrhosis. In summary, the current data provide evidence that impaired hepatic removal of IL-6 is explained by hepatic shunting and liver dysfunction in patients with liver cirrhosis partly explaining higher systemic levels.  相似文献

Background and aimsHepatic steatosis is the most common histopathological finding on liver biopsy, with the most prevalent etiology being NAFLD. The pathogenesis of hepatic steatosis and NAFLD is multifactorial, however, studies on the importance of manganese in NAFLD are limited. We aimed to study hepatic manganese content, and other trace elements, in relation to hepatic steatosis in patients with chronic liver diseases of different etiology, mainly NAFLD.MethodsPatients with chronically elevated liver function tests underwent a diagnostic work-up, including routine blood tests and two liver biopsies. One of the biopsies was sent for histopathological evaluation, and the other for ultra-trace elemental determinations. Steatosis was graded using conventional histopathological methodology, and fat content was also quantitated in biopsy samples by measuring the steatotic area of the section using stereological point counting (SPC). Ultra-trace elemental analysis was utilized for determining manganese, iron, and copper using inductively coupled plasma sector field mass spectrometry (ICP-SFMS).Results76 patients were included in the study. Hepatic manganese concentrations in patients with steatosis were lower than in patients without hepatic steatosis (3.8 ± 1.1 vs. 6.4 ± 1.8, P < 0.001). Similar results were seen for blood manganese levels and hepatic steatosis. We found a strong inverse correlation between steatosis grade and hepatic manganese content (ρ=-0.743, P < 0.001). Also, low levels of manganese independently predicted the presence of steatosis (aOR 0.07 [95%CI: 0.01−0.63]).ConclusionPatients with NAFLD, or other CLD and concomitant hepatic steatosis, showed lower levels of hepatic manganese content with increasing grade of steatosis.  相似文献

Brain tissue was obtained at autopsy from nine cirrhotic patients dying in hepatic coma and from an equal number of controls, free from neurological, psychiatric, or hepatic diseases, matched for age and time interval from death to freezing of dissected brain samples. Glutamine, glutamate, aspartate, and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) levels were measured in homogenates of cerebral cortex (prefrontal and frontal), caudate nuclei, hypothalamus, cerebellum (cortex and vermis), and medulla oblongata as their o-phthalaldehyde derivatives by HPLC using fluorescence detection. Glutamine concentrations were found to be elevated two- to fourfold in all brain structures, the largest increases being observed in prefrontal cortex and medulla oblongata. Glutamate levels were selectively decreased in prefrontal cortex (by 20%), caudate nuclei (by 27%), and cerebellar vermis (by 17%) from cirrhotic patients. On the other hand, GABA content of autopsied brain tissue from these patients was found to be within normal limits in all brain structures. It is suggested that such region-selective reductions of glutamate may reflect loss of the amino acid from the releasable (neurotransmitter) pool. These findings may be of significance in the pathogenesis of hepatic encephalopathy resulting from chronic liver disease.  相似文献

Serum level of endogenous scavengers (E and A vitamin) was studied in groups of patients with various chronic alcoholic liver diseases and in a healthy control group on polluted and non-polluted areas. Vitamin levels in patients with chronic liver disease are diminished in comparison to the healthy in general, but mainly in the cirrhotic group. Diminution of vitamin E levels was observed in earlier phase of liver disease than that of vitamin A levels. Patients and healthy control on polluted area showed more expressed diminution of vitamin levels than the same groups on non-polluted area. Free radical parameter (RBC diene conjugate content) and characteristic alcoholic parameters (serum GOT, gamma-GT, cholesterol level and liver GOT, gamma-GT content in biopsy specimen) were used to explain the differences between the same investigated groups on polluted and non-polluted areas. As conclusion can be supposed that industrial pollution of environment has a worsening effect in diseases with free radical mechanism.  相似文献

A quantitative neuropathological necropsy study of the human cerebral cortex showed that the number of cortical neurones in the superior frontal cortex in chronic alcoholic patients is significantly reduced compared with that in controls matched for age and sex. The number of neurones in the motor cortex did not differ significantly between the controls and alcoholics, but in both cortical regions there was evidence that alcoholic patients had smaller (shrunken) neurones than controls. Further studies are necessary to identify other regions of the cerebral cortex that are selectively damaged in brain damage associated with alcohol.  相似文献

Why only a subpopulation (about 15%) of humans develops liver cirrhosis due to alcohol is a critical as yet unanswered question. Liver-specific depletion of augmenter of liver regeneration (ALR) protein in mice causes robust steatosis and hepatocyte apoptosis by 2 weeks; these pathologies regress subsequently with return of ALR expression even at lower than control levels, but the mice develop modest steatohepatitis by 8 weeks. We aimed to investigate whether chronic alcohol ingestion promotes excessive hepatic fibrosis in these ALR-deficient mice. Liver-specific ALR-deficient and wild type (WT) female mice (8–10 weeks old) were placed on 4% alcohol-supplemented or isocaloric diet for 4 weeks. Liver sections were examined for histopathology, and parameters of steatosis and fibrosis were quantified. The mRNA expression of alcohol dehydrogenase-1, acetaldehyde dehydrogenase-1 and cytochrome P450-2E1 increased in WT mice but decreased in ALR-deficient mice upon alcohol ingestion. While alcohol induced steatosis and mild inflammation in WT mice, ALR-deficient mice showed minimal steatosis, strong hepatocellular injury and inflammation, prominent ductular proliferation, and robust fibrosis. Compared to the WT mice, alcohol feeding of ALR-deficient mice resulted in significantly greater increase in hepatic TNFα and TGFβ, and oxidative stress; there was also hepatic iron accumulation, robust lipid peroxidation and mitochondrial DNA damage. Importantly, similar to ALR-deficient mice, lower hepatic ALR levels in human alcoholic liver cirrhosis were associated with increased iron content, reduced expression of alcohol dehydrogenase and acetaldehyde dehydrogenase, and elevated fibrogenic markers. We conclude that ALR deficiency or anomaly can play a critical role in alcohol-induced hepatic fibrosis/cirrhosis, mechanisms of which may involve dysregulation of alcohol metabolism and iron homeostasis, mitochondrial damage and oxidative injury.  相似文献

It is widely accepted that the chronic use of alcohol induces metabolic abnormalities and neuronal damage in the brain, which can lead to cognitive dysfunction. Neuroimaging studies reveal that alcohol-induced brain damage is region specific and prominent damage has been observed in both gray and white matter of the prefrontal cortex, and a wide range of white matter structures including the corpus callosum. Molecular mechanisms underlying these structural changes are largely unknown. Using proteomics we have analysed the changes in protein expression in the splenium of the corpus callosum in two different alcoholic groups. Protein extracts from splenium of 22 human brains (nine controls, seven uncomplicated alcoholics and six complicated alcoholics with hepatic cirrhosis-designated complicated) were separated using two-dimensional gel electrophorosis. Image analysis revealed that there were significant alterations in protein expression for 25 protein spots in the uncomplicated alcoholic group and 45 in the complicated group compared to control (P<0.05; ANOVA). In a total of 72 spots (identified as 36 proteins), 15 (identified as 14 proteins) spots overlapped between two alcoholic groups. Another 32 protein spots (26 different proteins) were identified only in the complicated alcoholics. It is therefore possible that these 26 proteins in the complicated group are likely to be the results of hepatic compromise. When compared with our previous data of white matter from the prefrontal cortex in alcoholics, large numbers of identified proteins in the splenium are different. This suggests that there may be different mechanisms causing alcohol-induced brain damage in different regions of the white matter. Our data also indicate the importance of other pathways including oxidative stress, lipid peroxidation and apoptosis as potential causes of alcohol-induced brain damage.  相似文献

Neopterin is a pyrazino-pyrimidine compound which is biosynthesized by macrophages. Increased concentrations of neopterin have been reported in conditions causing a stimulation of cellular immunity, such as viral and other infections, graft versus host disease, autoimmune disease and different malignancies. Recently, urinary neopterin levels have been found increased in patients with acute viral hepatitis and NANB chronic hepatitis. In the present study, neopterin serum levels have been measured in 23 cirrhotic patients (6 HBV related, and 17 cryptogenetic cirrhosis, 7 of them occurring in alcoholic subjects) and in 24 normal subjects. Mean values of serum neopterin were significantly increased in cirrhotics (3.92 +/- 3.28 ng/ml versus 1.24 +/- 0.51 ng/ml in controls, p less than 0.01). Serum neopterin values were not found to be significantly different in cirrhotics assessed in three different clinical classes according to Child's classification and in cirrhotics with and without serological findings of active disease. In fact, in cirrhotic patients, serum neopterin levels did not correlate with the values of serum AST, ALT, ALP, GGT and gamma-globulin. These data show that increased levels of serum neopterin occur in cirrhotic patients, but there is no relation between serum neopterin values and the activity or the clinical severity of the disease. The results are consistent with the hypothesis that activated macrophages are involved in all stages of liver cirrhosis irrespective of its aetiology.  相似文献

Rats with carnitine deficiency due to trimethylhydrazinium propionate (mildronate) administered at 80 mg/100 g body weight per day for 10 days developed liver steatosis only upon fasting. This study aimed to determine whether the transient steatosis resulted from triglyceride accumulation due to the amount of fatty acids preserved through impaired fatty acid oxidation and/or from up-regulation of lipid exchange between liver and adipose tissue. In liver, mildronate decreased the carnitine content by approximately 13-fold and, in fasted rats, lowered the palmitate oxidation rate by 50% in the perfused organ, increased 9-fold the triglyceride content, and doubled the hepatic very low density lipoprotein secretion rate. Concomitantly, triglyceridemia was 13-fold greater than in controls. Hepatic carnitine palmitoyltransferase I activity and palmitate oxidation capacities measured in vitro were increased after treatment. Gene expression of hepatic proteins involved in fatty acid oxidation, triglyceride formation, and lipid uptake were all increased and were associated with increased hepatic free fatty acid content in treated rats. In periepididymal adipose tissue, mildronate markedly increased lipoprotein lipase and hormone-sensitive lipase activities in fed and fasted rats, respectively. On refeeding, carnitine-depleted rats exhibited a rapid decrease in blood triglycerides and free fatty acids, then after approximately 2 h, a marked drop of liver triglycerides and a progressive decrease in liver free fatty acids. Data show that up-regulation of liver activities, peripheral lipolysis, and lipoprotein lipase activity were likely essential factors for excess fat deposit and release alternately occurring in liver and adipose tissue of carnitine-depleted rats during the fed/fasted transition.  相似文献

Betaine administration corrects ethanol-induced defective VLDL secretion   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Our previous studies, demonstrating ethanol-induced alterations in phosphatidylcholine (PC) synthesis via the phosphatidylethanolamine methyltransferase (PEMT) pathway, implicated a defect in very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) secretion in the pathogenesis of hepatic steatosis. The objective of this study was to determine whether VLDL secretion was reduced by chronic ethanol consumption and whether betaine supplementation, that restores PEMT activity and prevents the development of alcoholic steatosis, could normalize VLDL secretion. The VLDL secretion in rats fed with control, ethanol and the betaine supplemented diets was determined using Triton WR-1339 to inhibit plasma VLDL metabolism. We observed reduced VLDL production rates in chronic alcohol-fed rats compared to control animals. Supplementation of betaine in the ethanol diet increased VLDL production rate to values significantly higher than those observed in the control diet-fed rats. To conclude, chronic ethanol consumption impairs PC generation via the PEMT pathway resulting in diminished VLDL secretion which contributes to the development of hepatic steatosis. By increasing PEMT-mediated PC generation, betaine results in increased fat export from the liver and attenuates the development of alcoholic fatty liver.  相似文献

Aims

Antioxidant system abnormalities have been associated with ethanol consumption. This study examines the effects of chronic ethanol consumption on oxidative balance, including selenium (Se) levels in alcoholic patients with or without liver disease, and if these measurements could be indicative of liver disease.

Main methods

Serum Se levels, antioxidant enzymes' activities, malondialdehyde (MDA) and protein carbonyl (PC) were determined in three groups of patients: alcoholics without liver disease, alcoholics with liver disease, and non-alcoholics with liver disease; and in healthy volunteers.

Key findings

Serum Se levels were lower in alcoholic patients and in patients affected by liver disease and especially lower in the alcoholic liver disease group. These values were correlated with the activity of glutathione peroxidase (GPx), the antioxidant selenoprotein. The antioxidant activities of the glutathione reductase (GR) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) were also lower in the three non-healthy groups. However, GR activity decreased and SOD activity increased in the non-alcoholic liver disease group versus alcoholic groups. Higher concentrations of PC in serum were found in non-healthy groups and were higher in alcoholic patients who also showed higher MDA levels. The highest MDA and PC levels were found in the alcoholic liver disease group.

Significance

We conclude that serum Se levels are drastically decreased in alcoholic liver disease patients, showing that this element has a direct correlation with GPx activity, and lipid oxidation, suggesting that the serum Se/MDA ratio could be an indicator of hepatic damage caused by alcohol consumption, and pointing to Se as a possible antioxidant therapy.  相似文献

Massive accumulation of lipids is a characteristic of alcoholic liver disease. Excess of hepatic fat activates Kupffer cells (KCs), which affect disease progression. Yet, KCs contribute to the resolution and advancement of liver injury. Aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of KC depletion on markers of liver injury and the hepatic lipidome in liver steatosis (Lieber-DeCarli diet, LDC, female mice, mixed C57BL/6J and DBA/2J background). LDC increased the number of dead hepatocytes without changing the mRNA levels of inflammatory cytokines in the liver. Animals fed LDC accumulated elevated levels of almost all lipid classes. KC ablation normalized phosphatidylcholine and phosphatidylinositol levels in LDC livers, but had no effect in the controls. A modest decline of trigylceride and diglyceride levels upon KC loss was observed in both groups. Serum aminotransferases and hepatic ceramide were elevated in all animals upon KC depletion, and in particular, cytotoxic very long-chain ceramides increased in the LDC livers. Meta-biclustering revealed that eight lipid species occurred in more than 40% of the biclusters, and four of them were very long-chain ceramides. KC loss was further associated with excess free cholesterol levels in LDC livers. Expression of inflammatory cytokines did, however, not increase in parallel. In summary, the current study described a function of KCs in hepatic ceramide and cholesterol metabolism in an animal model of LDC liver steatosis. High abundance of cytotoxic ceramides and free cholesterol predispose the liver to disease progression suggesting a protective role of KCs in alcoholic liver diseases.  相似文献

CD36 is a scavenger receptor with multiple ligands and cellular functions, including facilitating cellular uptake of free fatty acids (FFAs). Chronic alcohol consumption increases hepatic CD36 expression, leading to the hypothesis that this promotes uptake of circulating FFAs, which then serve as a substrate for triglyceride (TG) synthesis and the development of alcoholic steatosis. We investigated this hypothesis in alcohol-fed wild-type and Cd36-deficient (Cd36−/−) mice using low-fat/high-carbohydrate Lieber-DeCarli liquid diets, positing that Cd36−/− mice would be resistant to alcoholic steatosis. Our data show that the livers of Cd36−/− mice are resistant to the lipogenic effect of consuming high-carbohydrate liquid diets. These mice also do not further develop alcoholic steatosis when chronically fed alcohol. Surprisingly, we did not detect an effect of alcohol or CD36 deficiency on hepatic FFA uptake; however, the lower baseline levels of hepatic TG in Cd36−/− mice fed a liquid diet were associated with decreased expression of genes in the de novo lipogenesis pathway and a lower rate of hepatic de novo lipogenesis. In conclusion, Cd36−/− mice are resistant to hepatic steatosis when fed a high-carbohydrate liquid diet, and they are also resistant to alcoholic steatosis. These studies highlight an important role for CD36 in hepatic lipid homeostasis that is not associated with hepatic fatty acid uptake.  相似文献
