Background: The present research aimed to describe an inertial unit (IU)-based sprint mechanics evaluation model for assessing players’ readiness to return to competition after suffering a grade I hamstring injury. Methods: A professional male football player (age 19 years; height 177 cm; weight 70 kg, midfielder, Spanish, 3° Division) with a grade 1 biceps femoris injury was evaluated at pre-season, at return to play after injury and at the end of the competitive season. Sprint mechanics were analyzed via the use of an inertial orientation tracker (Xsens Technologies B.V. Enschede, Netherlands) attached over the L3-L4 region of the subject’s lumbar spine. Sprint mechanics such as horizontal components of ground reaction force were assessed in both legs during sprinting actions. Findings and interpretation: Both the coefficient of the horizontal force application (SFV) and the ratio of forces (DRF) applied at increasing velocity were decreased in the injured limb compared with the contralateral healthy limb at the return to play evaluation (73% and 76% reductions, respectively) and returned to symmetrical levels at the end-season evaluation.  相似文献

The models of complete, quasi and conditional symmetry as well as marginal homogeneity and diagonal asymmetry, applicable to square contingency tables are extended to non-square ones. Several properties of the models are investigated and estimation and test theory is presented. The utility of the new proposed models is discussed and illustrated by reanalyzing classical data sets.  相似文献

To better understand methodological factors that alter landings strategies, we compared sagittal plane joint energetics during the initial landing phase of drop jumps (DJ) vs. drop landings (DL), and when shod vs. barefoot. Surface electromyography, kinematic and kinetic data were obtained on 10 males and 10 females during five consecutive drop landings and five consecutive drop jumps (0.45 m) when shod and when barefoot. Energy absorption was greater in the DJ vs. DL (P = .002), due to increased energy absorption at the hip during the DJ. Joint stiffness/impedance was more affected by shoe condition, where overall stiffness/impedance was greater in shod compared to barefoot conditions (P = .036). Further, hip impedance was greater in shod vs. barefoot for the DL only (via increased peak hip extensor moment in DL), while ankle stiffness was greater in the barefoot vs. shod condition for the DJ only (via decreased joint excursion and increased peak joint moment in DJ vs. DL) (P = .011). DJ and DL place different neuromechanical demands upon the lower extremities, and shoe wear may alter impact forces that modulate stiffness/impedance strategies. The impact of these methodological differences should be considered when comparing landing biomechanics across studies.  相似文献

The objective was to assess the intra-tester, within and between day reliability of measurement of hip adduction (HADD) and frontal plane projection angles (FPPA) during single leg squat (SLS) and single leg landing (SLL) using 2D video and the validity of these measurements against those found during 3D motion capture. 15 healthy subjects had their SLS and SLL assessed using 3D motion capture and video analysis. Inter-tester reliability for both SLS and SLL when measuring FPPA and HADD show excellent correlations (ICC2,1 0.97–0.99). Within and between day assessment of SLS and SLL showed good to excellent correlations for both variables (ICC3,1 0.72–91). 2D FPPA measures were found to have good correlation with knee abduction angle in 3-D (r = 0.79, p = 0.008) during SLS, and also to knee abduction moment (r = 0.65, p = 0.009). 2D HADD showed very good correlation with 3D HADD during SLS (r = 0.81, p = 0.001), and a good correlation during SLL (r = 0.62, p = 0.013). All other associations were weak (r < 0.4). This study suggests that 2D video kinematics have a reasonable association to what is being measured with 3D motion capture.  相似文献

The objectives of this study were to determine the associations between climatic factors and production factors for returns to service of female pigs during summer and to quantify the associations between these factors and occurrences of returns to service. The factors that were assessed were as follows: maximum temperature (HT), relative humidity, age of gilts at first mating, parity, weaning-to-first-mating interval (WMI), and lactation length. The study analyzed records of 18,307 gilts in 99 herds and 78,135 parity records of 56,322 sows in 103 herds; all the females were first-serviced between June and September, 2007 to 2009. Average daily HT and relative humidity for 15 days post-service of a female were obtained from 21 local weather stations and coordinated with the performance data of the respective local herds. The returns to service were categorized into three groups: regular returns (RRs: 18–24 days), irregular returns (IRs: 25–38 days), and late returns to service (LRs: 39 days or later). Two-level mixed-effects models were applied to the data by using a herd at level 2 and an individual record at level 1. In mated gilts, the occurrences (%) of RRs, IRs, and LRs were 4.8%, 1.8%, and 5.3%, respectively. In mated sows, the respective occurrences were 3.3%, 1.8%, and 4.2%. Mean values (ranges) of HT and relative humidity were 28.4 °C (13.6 °C–39.8 °C) and 73.4% (35.0%–98.0%), respectively. In gilts, as HT increased from 25 °C to 30 °C, the occurrence of RR increased from 3.7% to 4.4% (P < 0.05). However, there was no association between the occurrence of RR and either relative humidity (P = 0.17) or age at first mating (P = 0.23). In addition, there were no associations between the occurrences of either gilt IR or LR and HT (P ≥ 0.05), relative humidity (P ≥ 0.46), or age at first mating (P ≥ 0.32). In sows, greater occurrences of RRs, IRs, and LRs were associated with higher HT, lower parity, and a WMI of 7 days or longer (P < 0.05), but they were not associated with relative humidity (P ≥ 0.62) or lactation length (P ≥ 0.13). The occurrence of RRs in sows of all WMI groups increased 1.22 (1.045) times for each 5 °C increase in HT. For sows with WMI 0 to 6 days, each 5 °C rise in HT increased the occurrence of IRs and LRs by 1.36 (1.065) and 1.27 (1.055) times, respectively. However, there was no association between increased HT and occurrences of IRs or LRs for sows with WMI 7 days or longer (P ≥ 0.38). Therefore, in order to prevent returns to service, it is recommended that producers apply cooling management for females during the post-service periods in summer.  相似文献

For employees who get cancer and survive, the probability of returning to work may depend on their ability to work, potential earnings losses if they do not return to work, qualifications and job type, but also on characteristics of the pre-cancer workplace. This paper focuses on differences between public and private sector employees in the effect of breast cancer on the probability of being out of the labour force three years after the diagnosis. We use propensity score weighting methods and a large longitudinal Danish administrative dataset which allows us to control for a wide range of important baseline characteristics such as education, sector of employment, labour market status, income, health, and demographics. We find that the educational gradient in the effect of cancer is significant in the public sector, where the estimated effects are 11.5 and 3.8 percentage points, respectively, for the low- and high-educated. The corresponding estimates for the private sector are 6.2 and 3.2 percentage points and here the educational gradient is only marginally significant. We discuss possible mechanisms behind the large sector gradient for the low-educated.  相似文献

Objectives:We aimed to determine whether GS can help to plan and rearrange the treated side by using IMUs to measure the joint angle of the hip, knee, and ankle. We hypothesized that the kinematics in healthy individuals for both sides are approximately equal during walking. Methods:IMUs were used to measure the joint angles of 25 healthy participants during walking. The participants performed the 10-meter walk test. The normalized symmetry index (SInorm) was used to calculate the symmetry of joint angles for the hip, knee, and ankle throughout the gait cycle. Results:The SInorm demonstrated high symmetry between both legs; and the ranges were -1.5% and 1.1% for the hip, -3.0% and 3.1% for the knee, and -12% and 9.2% for the ankle joint angle throughout the gait cycle. Conclusion:The SInorm provides strong information that can be helpful in the planning process for the surgeries. Further, the IMUs system gives the possibility to measure the patients before their surgeries and use their data to plan and rearrange for the operated side.  相似文献

Native crystallographic data of tetrameric phosphorylase a crystals, space group P21; have been collected photographically to 3 å resolution. These data have been used in Patterson search methods in reciprocal and real space. The tetramers were found to exhibit molecular 222 symmetry. The cross vector between the centres of the two symmetry related tetramers in the unit cell was determined by two different translation function methods. On the basis of these rotation and translation function results a model for the arrangement of monomers within the tetramer and of tetramers in the unit cell is proposed. The 222 symmetry of the tetrameric molecule is found only when high resolution diffraction data are included (i.e. higher than 6 å). At lower resolution other symmetries dominate.Calculations with the proposed model have shown that these spurious symmetries result from the nonspecific overlap of protein-protein and solvent-solvent cross vectors. These results emphasize the importance of high resolution data when noncrystallographic symmetry of globular proteins is studied.Extract from Dissertation, Technische UniversitÄt München.  相似文献

Since the seminal work of Caspar and Klug on the structure of the protein containers that encapsulate and hence protect the viral genome, it has been recognised that icosahedral symmetry is crucial for the structural organisation of viruses. In particular, icosahedral symmetry has been invoked in order to predict the surface structures of viral capsids in terms of tessellations or tilings that schematically encode the locations of the protein subunits in the capsids. Whilst this approach is capable of predicting the relative locations of the proteins in the capsids, information on their tertiary structures and the organisation of the viral genome within the capsid are inaccessible. We develop here a mathematical framework based on affine extensions of the icosahedral group that allows us to describe those aspects of the three-dimensional structure of simple viruses. This approach complements Caspar-Klug theory and provides details on virus structure that have not been accessible with previous methods, implying that icosahedral symmetry is more important for virus architecture than previously appreciated.   相似文献

Several assessments of the mechanics of plantar tissues, using various material models in conjunction with representing plantar regions using simple geometry, have been proposed. In this study, the plantar tissues were divided into eight regions to account for the various tissue characteristics. The plantar tissue model described each region as an ellipsoid, with a viscoelastic material model. The model combined varying elliptical contact areas with nonlinear tissue stiffness and damping. The main instruments used in this research were pressure-measuring insoles, which were used to determine the ground reaction force, as well as contact areas. The measured contact areas were fitted as elliptical areas to describe the compression of the corresponding ellipsoids. The approach was tested using walking data collected from 26 individuals: four men, 22 women, 24.4 ± 6.9 years old, 66.9 ± 21.4 kg of mass, 1.66 ± 0.12 m tall. The geometric and material variables of the proposed ellipsoidal model were optimized for each participant to match the ground reaction forces. Results suggest that the ellipsoid model is able to reproduce ground reaction force with reasonable accuracy. The largest errors were seen in heel and toe regions and were due to high-rate forces and small comparative areas, respectively. The model also showed that there are regional differences in the mechanical characteristics of plantar tissue, which confirms earlier research.  相似文献

Anti-pronation orthoses, like medially posted insoles (MPI), have traditionally been used to treat various of lower limb problems. Yet, we know surprisingly little about their effects on overall foot motion and lower limb mechanics across walking and running, which represent highly different loading conditions. To address this issue, multi-segment foot and lower limb mechanics was examined among 11 overpronating men with normal (NORM) and MPI insoles during walking (self-selected speed 1.70 ± 0.19 m/s vs 1.72 ± 0.20 m/s, respectively) and running (4.04 ± 0.17 m/s vs 4.10 ± 0.13 m/s, respectively). The kinematic results showed that MPI reduced the peak forefoot eversion movement in respect to both hindfoot and tibia across walking and running when compared to NORM (p < 0.05–0.01). No differences were found in hindfoot eversion between conditions. The kinetic results showed no insole effects in walking, but during running MPI shifted center of pressure medially under the foot (p < 0.01) leading to an increase in frontal plane moments at the hip (p < 0.05) and knee (p < 0.05) joints and a reduction at the ankle joint (p < 0.05). These findings indicate that MPI primarily controlled the forefoot motion across walking and running. While kinetic response to MPI was more pronounced in running than walking, kinematic effects were essentially similar across both modes. This suggests that despite higher loads placed upon lower limb during running, there is no need to have a stiffer insoles to achieve similar reduction in the forefoot motion than in walking.  相似文献

A symmetry analysis of the Berry pseudorotation of trigonal bipyramidal transition metal complexes is presented. Predictions are made regarding which electronic configurations are allowed to undergo pseudorotation and which configurations are symmetry forbidden. A comparison to reported fluxional five-coordinate complexes shows that the predictions are consistent with experimental observations.  相似文献

The study compared the centre of pressure measurements (COP) and vertical ground reaction forces (vGRF) from a pressure insole system to that from force plates (FP) during two flywheel quadriceps resistance exercises: leg press and squat. The comparison was performed using a motion capture system and simultaneous measurements of COP and vGRF from FP and insoles. At lower insole-vGRF (<250 N/insole) COP accuracy deteriorated and those data were excluded from further analysis. The insoles systematically displaced the COP slightly posteriorly and medially compared to the FP measurements. Pearson’s coefficient of correlation (r) between insole- and FP-COP showed good agreement in both the anteroposterior (squat: r = 0.96, leg press: r = 0.97) and mediolateral direction (squat: r = 0.84, leg press: r = 0.90), whereas the root-mean-square errors (RMSE) were lower in the mediolateral (squat: 3.9 mm, leg press: 4.5 mm) than the anteroposterior (squat and leg press: 11.8 mm) direction. Vertical GRF was slightly overestimated by the insoles in leg press and RMSE were greater in leg press (8% of peak force) than in squat (6%). Overall, results were within the range of previous studies performed on gait. The strong agreement between insole and FP measurements indicates that insoles may replace FPs in field applications and biomechanical computations during resistance exercise, provided that the applied force is sufficient.  相似文献

This study evaluated the feasibility of using insole pressure sensors together with whole body dynamics to analyse joint kinetics while running. Local affine transformations of shoe kinematics were first used to track the position of insole sensors during locomotion. Centre of pressure estimates derived from the insoles were within 10 mm of forceplate measures through much of stance, while vertical force estimates were within 15% of peak forceplate recordings. Insole data were then coupled with a least squares whole body dynamic model to obtain shear force estimates that were comparable to forceplate records during running. We demonstrated that these techniques provide a viable approach for analysing joint kinetics when running on uninstrumented surfaces.  相似文献

This study aimed to clarify the differences in electromyographic activity between the quadratus lumborum anterior (QL-a) and posterior layers (QL-p), and the relationship among trunk muscles and gluteus medius (GMed) activities during forward landing. Thirteen healthy men performed double-leg and single-leg (ipsilateral or contralateral sides as the electromyography measurement of trunk muscles) forward landings from a 30 cm-height-box. The onset of electromyographic activity in pre-landing and the electromyographic amplitude of the unilateral QL-a, QL-p, abdominal muscles, lumbar multifidus (LMF), erector spinae (LES), and bilateral GMed were recorded. Two-way ANOVA was used to compare the onset of electromyographic activity (3 landing leg conditions × 10 muscles) and electromyographic amplitude among (3 landing leg conditions × 2 phases). The onset of QL-p was significantly earlier in contralateral-leg landing than in the double-leg and ipsilateral-leg landings. The onset of LMF and LES was significantly earlier than that of the abdominal muscles in contralateral-leg landing. QL-p activity and GMed activity on the contralateral leg side in the pre-landing were significantly higher in contralateral-leg landing than in the other leg landings. To prepare for pelvic and trunk movements after ground contact, LMF, LES, QL-p on non-support leg side, and GMed on support leg side showed early or high feedforward activation before ground contact during single-leg forward landing.  相似文献

Centrioles are involved in the formation of cilia and flagella and in the organization of the centrosome, the main microtubule-organizing center of the cell. Since structural and functional centriole aberrations can contribute to several human diseases, these organelles have recently focused the attention of cell biologists. Here, we review data on the insect centrioles, reporting non-canonical aspects of their behaviour, function and architecture. These findings that represent obvious exceptions to the established rule might contribute to advance our understanding in the formation and the function of centrioles.  相似文献

When the foot impacts the ground in running, large forces and loading rates can arise that may contribute to the development of overuse injuries. Investigating which biomechanical factors contribute to these impact loads and loading rates in running could assist clinicians in developing strategies to reduce these loads. Therefore, the goals of our work were to determine variables that predict the magnitude of the impact peak and loading rate during running, as well as to investigate how modulation of knee and hip muscle activity affects these variables. Instrumented gait analysis was conducted on 48 healthy subjects running at 3.3 m/s on a treadmill. The top four predictors of loading rate and impact peak were determined using a stepwise multiple linear regression model. Forward dynamics was performed using a whole body musculoskeletal model to determine how increased muscle activity of the knee flexors, knee extensors, hip flexors, and hip extensors during swing altered the predictors of loading rate and impact peak. A smaller impact peak was associated with a larger downward acceleration of the foot, a higher positioned foot, and a decreased downward velocity of the shank at mid-swing while a lower loading rate was associated with a higher positioned thigh at mid-swing. Our results suggest that an alternative to forefoot striking may be increased hip flexor activity during swing to alter these mid-swing kinematics and ultimately decrease the leg's velocity at landing. The decreased velocity would decrease the downward momentum of the leg and hence require a smaller force at impact.  相似文献

Metal-on-metal hip resurfacing patients demonstrate hip biomechanics closer to normal in comparison to total hip arthroplasty during gait. However, it is not clear how symmetric is the gait of hip resurfacing patients. Biomechanical data of 12 unilateral metal-on-metal hip resurfacing participants were collected during gait at a mean time of 45 months (SD 24) after surgery. Ankle, knee, hip, pelvis and trunk kinematics and kinetics of both sides were measured with a motion and force-capture system. Principal component analysis and mean hypothesis’ tests were used to compare the operated and healthy sides. The operated side had prolonged ankle eversion angle during late stance and delayed increased ankle inversion angle during early swing (p = 0.008; effect size = 0.70), increased ankle inversion moment during late stance (p = 0.001; effect size = 0.78), increased knee adduction angle during swing (p = 0.044; effect size = 0.57), decreased knee abduction moment during stance (p = 0.05; effect size = 0.40), decreased hip range of motion in the sagittal plane (p = 0.046; effect size = 0.56), decreased range of hip abduction moment during stance (p = 0.02; effect size = 0.63), increased hip range of motion in the transverse plane (p = 0.02; effect size = 0.62), decreased hip internal rotation moment during the transition from loading response to midstance (p = 0.001; effect size = 0.81) and increased trunk ipsilateral lean (p = 0.03; effect size = 0.60). Therefore, hip resurfacing patients have some degree of asymmetry in long term, which may be related to hip weakness and decreased range of motion, to foot misalignments and to strategies implemented to reduce loading on the operated hip. Interventions such as muscle strengthening and stretching, insoles and gait feedback training may help improving symmetry following hip resurfacing.  相似文献
