CaS:Ce3+ is an efficient green‐emitting (535 nm) phosphor, excitable with blue light (450–470 nm) and was synthesized via a solid‐state reaction method by heating under a reducing atmosphere. The luminescent properties, photoluminescent (PL) excitation and emission of the phosphor were analyzed by spectrofluorophotometry. The excitation and emission peaks of the CaS:Ce3+ phosphor lay in the visible region, which made them relevant for light‐emitting diode (LED) application for the generation of white light. Judd‐Oflet parameters were calculated and revealed that green light emitted upon blue illumination. The prepared phosphor had strong blue absorption at 470 nm and a broad green emission band range from 490–590 nm with the peak at 537 nm. The characteristics of the CaS:Ce3+ phosphor make it suitable for use as a wavelength tunable green emitting phosphor for three band white LEDs pumped by a blue LED (470 nm). The Commission International de l'Eclairage co‐ordinates were calculated by a spectrophotometric method using the spectral energy distribution (0.304, 0.526) and confirm the green emission. The potential application of this phosphor is as a phosphor‐converted white light‐emitting diode. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this paper, we have reported the photoluminescence (PL) properties of the Ba2Mg(PO4)2:Eu3+ phosphor synthesized using a wet chemical method. The preliminary scanning electron microscopy (SEM) investigation of the sample revealed irregular surface morphology with particle sizes in the 10–50 μm range. The strongest PL excitation peak was observed at 396 nm. The emission spectra indicated that this phosphor can be effectively excited by the 396 nm wavelength. Upon 396 nm excitation, the emission spectrum showed characteristics peaks located at 592 nm and 615 nm. These intense orange‐red emission peaks were obtained due to f→f transitions of Eu3+ ions. The emission peak at 592 nm is referred to as the magnetic dipole 5D07F1 transition and the emission peak at 615 nm corresponded to the electric dipole 5D07F2 transition of Eu3+. The Commission Internationale de l’Eclairage (CIE) coordinates of the Ba2Mg(PO4)2:Eu3+ phosphor were found to be (0.586, 0.412) for wavelength 592 nm and (0.680, 0.319) for wavelength 615 nm situated at the edge of the CIE diagram, indicating high colour purity of phosphors. Due to the high emission intensity and a good excitation profile, Eu3+‐doped Ba2Mg(PO4)2 phosphor may be a promising orange‐red phosphor candidate for solid‐state lighting applications.  相似文献

Samples of the Ba9(Lu2‐xYx)Si6O24:Ce3+ (x = 0–2) blue‐green phosphors were synthesized by solid‐state reactions. All the samples exhibited a rhombohedral crystal structure. As the Y3+ concentration increased, the diffraction peaks shifted to the small angle region and the lattice parameters increased due to the larger ionic radius of Y3+ (r = 0.900 Å) compared with that of Lu3+ (r = 0.861 Å). Under 400 nm excitation, samples exhibited strong blue‐green emissions around 490 nm. The emission bands had a slight blue shift that resulted from weak crystal‐field splitting with increasing Y3+ concentration. Luminescence intensity and quantum efficiency (QE) decreased with increasing Y3+ concentration. The internal QE decreased from 74 to 50% and the external QE decreased from 50 to 34% as x increased from 0 to 2. The thermal stability of the Lu series was better than that of the Y‐series. The excitation band peak around 400 nm matched well with the emission light from the efficient near‐ultraviolet (NUV) chip. These results indicate promising applications for these NUV‐based white light‐emitting diodes.  相似文献

Europium (Eu3+) and bismuth (Bi3+) co‐activated LiBaBO3 powder phosphors were synthesized by a solid‐state reaction and the structure, particle morphology, optical and photoluminescent properties were investigated. X‐Ray diffraction patterns of the LiBaBO3 phosphors crystallized in a pure monoclinic phase, i.e. there were no secondary phases due to either incidental impurities or undecomposed starting materials. Scanning electron microscopy images showed that the powders were made up of fluffy needle‐like particles that were randomly aligned. The band‐gap of the LiBaBO3 host was estimated to be 3.33 eV from the UV/vis absorption data. Blue emission was observed from the LiBaBO3 host, which is ascribed to self‐activation of the host matrix. In addition, greenish‐blue (493 nm) and red (613 nm) emissions were observed from europium‐doped samples and were attributed to the emissions of Eu2+ and Eu3+, respectively. Furthermore, after codoping with Bi3+, the emission intensity of Eu3+ located at 613 nm was significantly enhanced. From the Commission Internationale de I′Eclairage (CIE) color coordinates, white emission was observed from LiBa1–xBO3:xEu3+ (x = 0.020 and 0.025) phosphor powders with color coordinates of x = 0.368, y = 0.378 and x = 0.376, y = 0.366, respectively.  相似文献

Charge compensation is an effective way to eliminate charge defects and improve the luminescent intensity of phosphors. In this paper, a new green‐emitting phosphor ZnB2O4:Tb3+ was prepared by solid‐state reaction at 750°C. The effects of Tb3+ doping content and charge compensators (Li+, Na+ or K+) on photoluminescence properties of ZnB2O4:Tb3+ were investigated. X‐ray powder diffraction analysis confirms the sample has cubic structure of ZnB2O4. The excitation and emission spectra indicate that this phosphor can be excited by near ultraviolet light at 378 nm, and exhibits bright green emission with the highest peak at 544 nm corresponding to the 5D47F5 transition of Tb3+. The critical quenching concentration of Tb3+ in ZnB2O4 host is 8 mol%. The results of charge compensation show that the emission intensity can be improved by Na+ and K+. Specifically, K+ is the optimal one for ZnB2O4:Tb3+. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A series of novel red‐emitting Sm3+‐doped bismuth silicate phosphors, Bi4Si3O12:xSm3+ (0.01 ≤ x ≤ 0.06), were prepared via the sol–gel route. The phase of the synthesized samples calcinated at 800 °C is isostructural with Bi4Si3O12 according to X‐ray diffraction results. Under excitation with 405 nm light, some typical peaks of Sm3+ ions centered at 566, 609, 655 and 715 nm are found in the emission spectra of the Sm3+‐doped Bi4Si3O12 phosphors. The strongest peak located at 609 nm is due to 4G5/26H7/2 transition of Sm3+. The luminescence intensity reaches its maximum value when the Sm3+ ion content is 4 mol%. The results suggest that Bi4Si3O12:Sm3+ may be a potential red phosphor for white light‐emitting diodes. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Near‐UV excited narrow line red‐emitting phosphors, Eu3+‐activated Y2MoO6 systems, were synthesized using a simple molten salt reaction. The structure and photoluminescence characteristics were investigated using X‐ray powder diffraction, UV–Vis absorption and fluorescent spectrophotometry. The excitation spectra show strong broad‐band absorptions in the near‐UV to blue light regions which match the radiation of near‐UV light‐emitting diode chips well. Under excitation of either near‐UV or blue light, intense red emission with a main peak of 611 nm is observed, ascribed to the 5D07F2 transition of Eu3+ ions; the optimal doping concentration is 20 mol%. The chromaticity coordinates (x = 0.65, y = 0.34) of the as‐obtained phosphor are very close to the National Television Standard Committee standard values (x = 0.67, y = 0.33). All these characteristics suggest that this material is a promising red‐emitting phosphor candidate for white‐LEDs based on near‐UV LED chips. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Europium (Eu)3+‐substituted La2Li0.5Al0.5O4 red emitting phosphors were prepared by a conventional high‐temperature solid‐state reaction method. Powder X‐ray diffraction, diffuse reflectance spectra and spectrofluorometry were used as vital characterizing tools for the phosphors. The Eu concentration dependence luminescence properties and Judd–Ofelt intensity parameters were investigated and calculated, respectively. All compositions showed an orange red emission (due to the magnetic and electric dipole transitions of the Eu3+ ion) with the appropriate Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage (CIE) colour gamut under near ultraviolet or blue ray light excitation. The calculated critical distance showed that the energy transfer occured between Eu to Eu via an exchange mechanism. The Eu1.4La0.6Li0.5Al0.5O4 composition showed the highest red emission intensity with CIE colour saturation compared with that of the commercial Eu‐activated yttrium oxysulfide red phosphor.  相似文献

In this study, Li6Y1–xEux(BO3)3 phosphor was successfully synthesized using a modified solid‐state diffusion method. The Eu3+ ion concentration was varied at 0.05, 0.1, 0.2, 0.5 and 1 mol%. The phosphor was characterized for phase purity, morphology, luminescent properties and molecular transmission at room temperature. The XRD pattern suggests a result closely matching the standard JCPDS file (#80‐0843). The emission and excitation spectra were followed to discover the luminescence traits. The excitation spectra indicate that the current phosphor can be efficiently excited at 395 nm and at 466 nm (blue light) to give emission at 595 and 614 nm due to the 5D07Fj transition of Eu3+ ions. Concentration quenching was observed at 0.5 mol% Eu3+ in the Li6Y1–xEux(BO3)3 host lattice. Strong red emission with CIE chromaticity coordinates of phosphor is x = 0.63 and y = 0.36 achieved with dominant red emission at 614 nm the 5D07 F2 electric dipole transition of Eu3+ ions. The novel Li6Y1–xEux(BO3)3 phosphor may be a suitable red‐emitting component for solid‐state lighting using double‐excited wavelengths, i.e. near‐UV at 395 nm and blue light at 466 nm. Eu2+‐activated SrMg2Al16O27 novel phosphor was synthesized by a combustion method (550°C furnace). The prepared phosphor was first characterized by X‐ray diffraction (XRD) for confirmation of phase purity. SEM analysis showed the morphology of the phosphor. The photoluminescence characteristics showed broad‐band excitation at 324 nm, which was monitored at 465 nm emission wavelength. The SrMg2Al16O27:Eu2+ phosphor shows broad blue emission centred at 465 nm, emitting a blue light corresponding to 4f65d1 → 4f7 transition. Here we report the photoluminescence characteristics of the prepared phosphor and compare it with commercial BAM:Eu2+ phosphor. Copyright © 2011 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A yellow‐emitting phosphor NaY(MoO4)2:Dy3+ was synthesized using a solid‐state reaction at 550 °C for 4 h, and its luminescent properties were investigated. Its phase formation was studied using X‐ray powder diffraction analysis, and there were no crystalline phases other than NaY(MoO4)2. NaY(MoO4)2:Dy3+ produced yellow emission under 386 or 453 nm excitation, and the prominent luminescence was yellow (575 nm) due to the 4 F9/26H13/2 transition of Dy3+. For the 575 nm emission, the excitation spectrum had one broad band and some narrow peaks; the peaks were located at 290, 351, 365, 386, 426, 453 and 474 nm. Emission intensities were influenced by the Dy3+ doping content and a concentration quenching effect was observed; the phenomenon was also proved by the decay curves. Moreover, the Commission International de I'Eclairage chromaticity coordinates of NaY(MoO4)2:Dy3+ showed similar values at different Dy3+ concentrations, and were located in the yellow region. A series of Sr2ZnWO6 phosphors co‐doped with Eu3+, Bi3+ and Li+ were prepared using the Pechini method. The samples were tested using X‐ray diffraction and luminescence spectroscopy. The results show that the samples can be effectively excited by near‐ultraviolet (UV) and UV light. The introduction of Bi3+ and Li+ significantly enhances the fluorescence emission of Sr2ZnWO6:Eu3+ and changes the light emitted by the phosphors from bluish‐green to white. When excited at 371 nm, Sr2–x–zZn1–yWO6:xEu3+,yBi3+,zLi+ (x = 0.05, y = 0.05, z = 0.05, 0.1 and 0.15) samples emit high‐performance white light. Intense red–orange emission is also observed when excited by UV light. The obtained phosphor is a potential white‐emitting phosphor that could meet the needs of excitation sources with near‐UV chips. In addition, this phosphor might have promising application as a red–orange emitting phosphor for white light‐emitting diodes based on UV light‐emitting diodes. The novel red‐emitting phosphors KxSr1?2xMoO4:Pr3+x (0.00 ≤ x ≤ 0.04) were prepared by solid‐state reaction. The crystallization and particle sizes of samples were investigated by powder X‐ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). TEM images were in good agreement with the theoretical calculation data from the XRD patterns. Photoluminescence analysis indicated that there were three excitation peaks under 430–500 nm, and all samples showed the intensely red emission at 648 nm corresponding to the 3P03F2 transition of Pr3+. The concentrations of doping ions, temperature and polyethylene glycol in the phosphor system can significantly influence the intensity of the red emission. The photoluminescence spectral intensity reached its maximum at x = 0.02. The results showed that the investigated phosphor is a potential red phosphor for white light‐emitting diodes. Lanthanide‐based phosphors have been extensively investigated for their possible applications in solid‐state lighting technologies especially for white‐light‐emitting diodes. In this review article emphasis has been laid on discussing the recent developments of phosphors for warm white‐light production based on various optical characteristics such as quantum efficiency, thermal stability, short emission decay time, long‐term stability, facile synthesis, and low cost of production. We have tried to cover the essential and latest discoveries of the lanthanide/rare earth‐doped phosphors after 2010. New generations of narrow‐band phosphors have also been included. The optical and material properties of several novel phosphors and their luminescence characteristics have been thoroughly discussed.  相似文献

Rare‐earth ions play an important role in eco‐friendly solid‐state lighting for the lighting industry. In the present study we were interested in Eu3+ ion‐doped inorganic phosphors for near ultraviolet (UV) excited light‐emitting diode (LED) applications. Eu3+ ion‐activated SrYAl3O7 phosphors were prepared using a solution combustion route at 550°C. Photoluminescence characterization of SrYAl3O7:Eu3+ phosphors showed a 612 nm emission peak in the red region of the spectrum due to the 5D07F2 transition of Eu3+ ions under excitation at 395 nm in the near‐UV region and at the 466 nm blue excitation wavelength. These red and blue emissions are supported for white light generation for LED lighting. Structure, bonding between each element of the sample and morphology of the sample were analysed using X‐ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), which showed that the samples were crystallized in a well known structure. The phosphor was irradiated with a 60Co‐γ (gamma) source at a dose rate of 7.2 kGy/h. Thermoluminescence (TL) studies of these Eu3+‐doped SrYAl3O7 phosphors were performed using a Nucleonix TL 1009I TL reader. Trapping parameters of this phosphor such as activation energy (E), order of kinetics (b) and frequency factor (s) were calculated using Chen's peak shape method, the initial rise method and Ilich's method.  相似文献

We report the photoluminescence characterization of Dy3+‐activated NaM4(VO4)3 (M = Ca, Ba, Sr) phosphors prepared by a solid‐state method. The synthesis was confirmed by X‐ray diffraction (XRD) characterization and photoluminescence (PL) emission results showed sharp blue and yellow bands for NaM4(VO4)3 (M = Ca, Ba, Sr):Dy3+ phosphors at the excitation wavelength of 323 nm, which is near‐UV excitation. Thus, these phosphors could be applicable for near‐UV excited solid‐state lighting devices. Copyright © 2011 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Ba3Al2O5Cl2:Eu2+ phosphor was prepared by combustion synthesis (CS). The prepared phosphor was excited at 329 nm; the phosphors shows an efficient bluish‐green wide‐band emission centred at 490 nm, which originates from the 4f6d1 → 4f7 transition of Eu2+ ions. The excitation spectra of the phosphors have a band centred at 329 nm. It was also characterized by XRD, FT–IR for confirmation of phase purity, and FT–IR analysis indicated the vibrations of metal–oxygen (M–O) groups. SEM shows the morphology of the phosphor at the submicron scale. The results indicate that Ba3Al2O5Cl2:Eu2+ phosphor may be applicable for solid‐state lighting purposes. A trivalent rare‐earth ion (Sm3+)‐doped LiNa3P2O7 (LNPO) phosphor was synthesized using a conventional high‐temperature solid‐state reaction route. A predominant orthorhombic phase of LNPO was observed in all X‐ray diffraction patterns. The surface states of the LNPO:Sm phosphor were confirmed by X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Under 401 nm excitation, the Sm‐doped LNPO phosphors showed sharp emission peaks at 563, 600 and 647 nm that are related to the f–f transition of Sm3+ ions. The optimum concentration of Sm3+ (9 mol%) produced Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage chromaticity coordinates, color rendering index and correlated color temperature of (0.564, 0.434), 42 and 1843 K, respectively.  相似文献

Ca2Al2O5:Eu3+, Ca2Al2O5:Dy3+ and Ca2Al2O5:Tb3+ phosphors were synthesized using a combustion synthesis method. The prepared phosphors were characterized by X‐ray powder diffraction for phase purity, by scanning electron microscopy for morphology, and by photoluminescence for emission and excitation measurements. The Ca2Al2O5:Eu3+ phosphors could be efficiently excited at 396 nm and showed red emission at 594 nm and 616 nm due to 5D0 → 7F1 and 5D0 → 7F2 transitions. Dy3+‐doped phosphors showed blue emission at 482 nm and yellow emission at 573 nm. Ca2Al2O5:Tb3+ phosphors showed emission at 545 nm when excited at 352 nm. Concentration quenching occurred in both Eu3+ and Dy3+phosphors at 0.5 mol%. Photoluminescence results suggested that the aluminate‐based phosphor could be a potential candidate for application in environmentally friendly based lighting technologies.  相似文献

This paper reports the synthesis and characterization of 2‐(4‐ethoxyphenyl)‐4‐phenyl quinoline (OEt‐DPQ) organic phosphor using an acid‐catalyzed Friedlander reaction and the preparation of blended thin films by molecularly doping OEt‐DPQ in poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) at different wt%. The molecular structure of the synthesized phosphor was confirmed by Fourier transform infra‐red (FTIR) spectroscopy and nuclear magnetic resonance spectra (NMR). Surface morphology and percent composition of the elements were assessed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive analysis of X‐rays (EDAX). The thermal stability and melting point of OEt‐DPQ and thin films were probed by thermo‐gravimetric analysis (TGA)/differential thermal analysis (DTA) and were found to be 80°C and 113.6°C, respectively. UV–visible optical absorption spectra of OEt‐DPQ in the solid state and blended films produced absorption bands in the range 260–340 nm, while photoluminescence (PL) spectra of OEt‐DPQ in the solid state and blended thin films demonstrated blue emission that was registered at 432 nm when excited at 363–369 nm. However, solvated OEt‐DPQ in chloroform, tetrahydrofuran or dichloromethane showed a blue shift of 31–43 nm. Optical absorption and emission parameters such as molar extinction coefficient (ε), energy gap (Eg), transmittance (T), reflectance (R), refractive index (n), oscillator energy (E0) and oscillator strength (f), quantum yield (φf), oscillator energy (E0), dispersion energy (Ed), Commission Internationale de l'Éclairage (CIE) co‐ordinates and energy yield fluorescence (EF) were calculated to assess the phosphor's suitability as a blue emissive material for opto‐electronic applications such as organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs), flexible displays and solid‐state lighting technology.  相似文献
