High morbidity and mortality rates because of large intestinal carcinoma and a clear-cut tendency to the growth of these rates have prompted the authors to undertake this study. When new methods of radiodiagnosis appeared, traditional and highly informative methods, Ba enema among them, seemed to be forgotten. The authors suggest a program of standard examinations of the large intestine, based on simultaneous double-contrast technique, that permits an essential improvement of the diagnostic and economic efficacy of this one of the most prevalent methods of x-ray examinations. The suggested technique was used in examinations of 4120 patients with suspected tumors of the large intestine.  相似文献

The authors analyze the possibilities of improving the prehospital diagnosis of the most prevalent oncologic diseases (tumors of the lungs, stomach, large intestine, mammary gland) that may be effectively detected by modified methods of x-ray and x-ray fluorographic examinations. The x-ray diagnostic service of health centers is regarded as a most important component in the system of prehospital diagnosis. A program of reorganization of this service is suggested, that will help reorient its activities to purposeful screening examinations that will altogether improve the detection of a number of oncologic diseases.  相似文献

An assistive device is designed to accommodate the special needs of disability that can help people with physical, mental or cognitive challenges go through their day-to-day activities with less difficulty. An assistive device usually provide alternatives to functional limitations imposed by the client's disorder, and thereby minimising rehabilitation costs. It is therefore important to know about how assistive technology will function in all the possible aspects of such disabilities and impairements. When designing a technical device, particularly in conjunction with the target user group, ergonomic issues are therefore important to find out the extent to which an assistive device is convenient or not, and to check the quality performance of assistive technology. Since the question of the match or mismatch of an assistive device and a disabled person requires much attention, it is therefore suggested that paying attention on how an assistive device be ergonomically designed and developed is important. Ergonomic applications are to be applied for increasing motivation of prospective customers through innovative performance of AT. The authors believe that there are opportunities in ergonomic applications to manufacture an assistive device as unique, cost saving, and allows less exertation and reduces energy consumption when it is used. Hence this paper highlights human factors and/or ergonomics consideration in the process of design and development of assistive devices synchronising with gerontechnological research and development aiming to emphasise user's requirement.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose an adversary model to facilitate forensic investigations of mobile devices (e.g. Android, iOS and Windows smartphones) that can be readily adapted to the latest mobile device technologies. This is essential given the ongoing and rapidly changing nature of mobile device technologies. An integral principle and significant constraint upon forensic practitioners is that of forensic soundness. Our adversary model specifically considers and integrates the constraints of forensic soundness on the adversary, in our case, a forensic practitioner. One construction of the adversary model is an evidence collection and analysis methodology for Android devices. Using the methodology with six popular cloud apps, we were successful in extracting various information of forensic interest in both the external and internal storage of the mobile device.  相似文献

With digitalization of medical information and rapid distribution of smart devices, currently, healthcare service is actively planned and developed based on smart devices. By 2015, 500 million smartphone users are expected to use a mobile health application, especially for exercise, diet, and chronic disease management. Unlike other chronic diseases, diabetes can be managed by the patient. Therefore smart mobile device can be a universal tool for self-diabetes management because of its high penetration and functions. A mobile healthcare application for Android OS was developed to provide self-diabetes management. The application consists of Diabetes management, Weight management, Cardio-cerebrovascular risk evaluation, Stress and depression evaluation and Exercise management. The application synchronizes data with hospital’s EMR database to provide accurate data with minimized process of data input. ABSTRACT

Blue light, with wavelengths shorter than 440–450 nm, is the most energetic radiation of the visible spectrum for the human eye, and its possible multiple effects on the human nervous and other systems have become a line of research by many investigators. The use of mobile devices whose screens emit various amounts of blue light is common nowadays. This study evaluated the efficiency of the blue light screen and control software technologies of eight different mobile devices. Emitted screen spectra of the different mobile devices according to different conditions of blue light emission software control were obtained using a spectrograph, and the derived spectra were compared with the melatonin suppression action spectrum. The amount of blue light emission and predicted melatonin suppression varied according to the unique software control and screen technology of each device. AMOLED screen technology, compared with other screen technologies, achieved better control of blue light emission. The effect of blue light filters depends on the screen technology; however, the melatonin suppression index of mobile devices is not reduced sufficiently by the use of blue light-attenuating software.  相似文献

With the development of ubiquitous computing technology, users are using mobile devices which are for producing and accessing information. Due to the limited computing capability and storage, however, mobile cloud computing technology are emerging research issues in the architecture, design, and implementation. This paper proposes the trust management approach by analyzing user behavioral patterns for reliable mobile cloud computing. For this, we suggest a method to quantify a one-dimensional trusting relation based on the analysis of telephone call data from mobile devices. After that, we integrate inter-user trust relationship in mobile cloud environment. As a result, trustworthiness of data in data production, management, overall application, is enhanced.  相似文献

Abstract

This article describes the experience of project Dryades, coordinated by the University of Trieste, in developing interactive identification keys in the form of applications for mobile devices (iPhone/iPad/iPodtouch). All of our keys were previously generated from a database of morpho-anatomical characters using software FRIDA. The applications for mobile devices, which were tested Europe-wide during the project KeyToNature, have proved to be useful in education, in the promotion of nature-aware tourism and in projects of citizen science. The first-generation apps were stand-alone packages which consisted into a sequence of stand-alone HTML pages, while those of the second generation do incorporate the digital key as a true database into the mobile device. All of the hitherto published applications are basically in the form of illustrated dichotomous keys. Future developments will also include a multi-entry query interface, and will be extended to devices which use the Android system.  相似文献

Foraging behaviours used by two female Australian fur seals (Arctocephalus pusillus doriferus) were documented during controlled feeding trials. During these trials the seals were presented with prey either free-floating in open water or concealed within a mobile ball or a static box feeding device. When targeting free-floating prey both subjects primarily used raptorial biting in combination with suction, which was used to draw prey to within range of the teeth. When targeting prey concealed within either the mobile or static feeding device, the seals were able to use suction to draw out prey items that could not be reached by biting. Suction was followed by lateral water expulsion, where water drawn into the mouth along with the prey item was purged via the sides of the mouth. Vibrissae were used to explore the surface of the feeding devices, especially when locating the openings in which the prey items had been hidden. The mobile ball device was also manipulated by pushing it with the muzzle to knock out concealed prey, which was not possible when using the static feeding device. To knock prey out of this static device one seal used targeted bubble blowing, where a focused stream of bubbles was blown out of the nose into the openings in the device. Once captured in the jaws, prey items were manipulated and re-oriented using further mouth movements or chews so that they could be swallowed head first. While most items were swallowed whole underwater, some were instead taken to the surface and held in the teeth, while being vigorously shaken to break them into smaller pieces before swallowing. The behavioural flexibility displayed by Australian fur seals likely assists in capturing and consuming the extremely wide range of prey types that are targeted in the wild, during both benthic and epipelagic foraging.  相似文献

Computerized agility training (CAT) products are frequently suggested to improve agility. However, these claims often are made without unbiased scientific support. Therefore, the purpose of this study was (a) to determine the reliability and effectiveness of a 4-week CAT training program on foot speed (FS) and choice reaction (REACT), and (b) to assess whether training on the CAT would facilitate the improvement of a separate change-of-direction (COD) test in non-agility-trained, but active, men and women. Twenty-three participants (15 men, 8 women) pre- and posttested on FS, REACT, and COD drills. Eleven of those participants (7 men, 4 women) engaged in 4 weeks of training on the FS and REACT drills (EX). The remaining 12 (8 men, 4 women) did not participate in the training and served as controls (CON). Coefficients of variation indicate strong precision for FS (6.9%) and REACT (2.6%). Test-retest reliability, as analyzed by intraclass correlations (ICC), were high for both FS and REACT (0.89). Significant test-by-group interactions were observed for all three tests: FS (p = 0.004), REACT (p = 0.011), and COD (p = 0.049). Post hoc analysis indicated that EX increased foot contacts for the FS drill (p = 0.006), whereas REACT and COD demonstrated decreases in time to completion (p = 0.013 and 0.038, respectively). The CON group did not improve on any of the tests. This study indicates that the chosen CAT is an accurate and reliable tool for measuring foot speed and reaction time. These data justify the use of this CAT in analyzing foot speed and reaction time. Altogether, 4 weeks of foot speed and reaction training on the chosen CAT produced improvements in overall agility in non-agility-trained, but active, men and women. These data warrant the integration of such a device into the training program of untrained athletes attempting to improve agility.  相似文献

In this video, we demonstrate how to use the neuron microfluidic device without plasma bonding. In some cases it may be desirable to reversibly bond devices to the Corning No. 1 cover glass. This could be due, perhaps, to a plasma cleaner not being available. In other instances, it may be desirable to remove the device from the glass after the culturing of neurons for certain types of microscopy or for immunostaining, though it is not necessary to remove the device for immunostaining since the neurons can be stained in the device. Some researchers, however, still prefer to remove the device. In this case, reversible bonding of the device to the cover glass makes that possible. There are some disadvantages to non-plasma bonding of the devices in that not as tight of a seal is formed. In some cases axons may grow under the grooves rather than through them. Also, because the glass and PDMS are hydrophobic, liquids do not readily enter the device making it necessary at times to force media and other reagents into the device. Liquids will enter the device via capillary action, but it takes significantly longer as compared to devices that have been plasma bonded. The plasma cleaner creates temporary hydrophilic charges on the glass and device that facilitate the flow of liquids through the device after bonding within seconds. For non-plasma bound devices, liquid flow through the devices takes several minutes. It is also important to note that the devices to be used with non-plasma bonding need to be sterilized first, whereas plasma treated devices do not need to be sterilized prior to use because the plasma cleaner will sterilize them.  相似文献

The performance of mobile devices including smart phones and laptops is steadily rising as prices plummet sharply. So, mobile devices are changing from being a mere interface for requesting services to becoming computing resources for providing and sharing services due to immeasurably improved performance. With the increasing number of mobile device users, the utilization rate of SNS (Social Networking Service) is also soaring. Applying SNS to the existing computing environment enables members of social network to share computing services without further authentication. To use mobile device as a computing resource, temporary network disconnection caused by user mobility and various HW/SW faults causing service disruption should be considered. Also these issues must be resolved to support mobile users and to provide user requirements for services. Accordingly, we propose fault tolerance and QoS (Quality of Services) scheduling using CAN (Content Addressable Network) in Mobile Social Cloud Computing (MSCC). MSCC is a computing environment that integrates social network-based cloud computing and mobile devices. In the computing environment, a mobile user can, through mobile devices, become a member of a social network through real world relationships. Essentially, members of a social network share cloud service or data with other members without further authentication by using their mobile device. We use CAN as the underlying MSCC to logically manage the locations of mobile devices. Fault tolerance and QoS scheduling consists of four sub-scheduling algorithms: malicious-user filtering, cloud service delivery, QoS provisioning, and replication and load-balancing. Under the proposed scheduling, a mobile device is used as a resource for providing cloud services, faults caused from user mobility or other reasons are tolerated and user requirements for QoS are considered. We simulate scheduling both with and without CAN. The simulation results show that our proposed scheduling algorithm enhances cloud service execution time, finish time and reliability and reduces the cloud service error rate.  相似文献

In their article, Thom Scott‐Phillips, Stefaan Blancke, and Christophe Heintz do a commendable job summarizing the position and misunderstandings of “cultural attraction theory” (CAT). However, they do not address a longstanding problem for the CAT framework; that while it has an encompassing theory and some well‐worked out case studies, it lacks tools for generating models or empirical hypotheses of intermediate generality. I suggest that what the authors diagnose as misunderstandings are instead superficial interpretive errors, resulting from researchers who have attempted to extract generalizable hypotheses from CAT and bring them into contact with the analytical and inferential models of contemporary cultural evolutionary research.  相似文献

Many patients who have failed to acquire esophageal speech after total laryngectomy are presently using artificial electrolarynges. Two of the principle objections to currently available devices are their bulkiness and visibility. The authors have developed and tested a wireless-controlled intra-oral electrolarynx which overcomes these main objections. In addition, it produces intelligible speech which compares favorably with other existing devices. In this paper, the design details will be presented which significantly influence the performance and the patients' acceptability of the new device.  相似文献

In this paper, we design a new single-end mainstream device for monitoring the carbon dioxide concentration that is breathed out of the human body. In this single end design, only the main testing-end will be involved. The mechanism is based on the low-cost digital processing method of blind source separation, which is used to separate the signal and then extract the reference signal. Meanwhile, in order to decrease the negative influence of device noise and the low sample precision caused by temperature drift, two steps are taken: one is wavelet denoising and the other is temperature drift compensation. These two steps are proved valid by clinical trials, thus improving the accuracy of devices.  相似文献

The measurement of the interface pressure between a biomedical device and part of the human body is useful to improve the performance and safety of such devices during design. Testing of a selection of existing interface pressure transducers has demonstrated that many are dependent on device and tissue compliance. Such a transducer is useful only in an application where it has been calibrated for specific device-tissue compliance combinations. To overcome this limitation, the authors developed an interface pressure transducer whose output signal is not affected by changes in interface compliance. This enables the transducer to quantitatively measure pressure in many applications without the need to calibrate it for varying compliance conditions. Surgical retraction and surgical tourniquets were selected as demonstration applications for the developed transducer, because they represent a wide spectrum of device and tissue characteristics and properties, and are in common use.  相似文献

As a predominant fabrication method of organic solar cells (OSCs), casting of a bulk heterojunction (BHJ) structure presents overwhelming advantages for achieving higher power conversion efficiency (PCE). However, long‐term stability and mechanical strength are significantly crucial to realize large‐area and flexible devices. Here, controlling blend film morphology is considered as an effective way toward co‐optimizing device performance, stability, and mechanical properties. A PCE of 12.27% for a P‐i‐N‐structured OSC processed by sequential blade casting (SBC) is reported. The device not only outperforms the as‐cast BHJ devices (11.01%), but also shows impressive stability and mechanical properties. The authors corroborate such enhancements with improved vertical phase separation and purer phases toward more efficient transport and collection of charges. Moreover, adaptation of SBC strategy here will result in thermodynamically favorable nanostructures toward more stable film morphology, and thus improving the stability and mechanical properties of the devices. Such co‐optimization of OSCs will pave ways toward realizing the highly efficient, large‐area, flexible devices for future endeavors.  相似文献

Background

In recent years many mobile devices able to record health-related data in ambulatory patients have emerged. However, well-organised programs to incorporate these devices are sparse. Hartwacht Arrhythmia (HA) is such a program, focusing on remote arrhythmia detection using the AliveCor Kardia Mobile (KM) and its algorithm.

Objectives

The aim of this study was to assess the benefit of the KM device and its algorithm in detecting cardiac arrhythmias in a real-world cohort of ambulatory patients.

Methods

All KM ECGs recorded in the HA program between January 2017 and March 2018 were included. Classification by the KM algorithm was compared with that of the Hartwacht team led by a cardiologist. Statistical analyses were performed with respect to detection of sinus rhythm (SR), atrial fibrillation (AF) and other arrhythmias.

Results

5,982 KM ECGs were received from 233 patients (mean age 58 years, 52% male). The KM algorithm categorised 59% as SR, 22% as possible AF, 17% as unclassified and 2% as unreadable. According to the Hartwacht team, 498 (8%) ECGs were uninterpretable. Negative predictive value for detection of AF was 98%. However, positive predictive value as well as detection of other arrhythmias was poor. In 81% of the unclassified ECGs, the Hartwacht team was able to provide a diagnosis.

Conclusions

This study reports on the first symptom-driven remote arrhythmia monitoring program in the Netherlands. Less than 10% of the ECGs were uninterpretable. However, the current performance of the KM algorithm makes the device inadequate as a stand-alone application, supporting the need for manual ECG analysis in HA and similar programs.
