An experiment was conducted with field-grown cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) to determine the effects of drought and an increase in available photosynthate on the abscisic acid (ABA) and indoleacetic acid (IAA) contents of 3-day-old bolls and their abscission zones. Photosynthate availability was manipulated by removing about two-thirds of the plants to permit increased irradiance, and thus photosynthesis, in the plant canopy. The demand for photosynthate was decreased by removing all bolls from the remaining plants. The thinning and defruiting operations were performed about 3 weeks after first flower. Control plants were neither thinned nor defruited. Effects of water deficit were observed by making three harvests at different times during a 2-week irrigation cycle. Increasing the availability of photosynthate increased boll retention, but had relatively little effect on the concentrations of ABA and IAA in bolls. However, it did increase the concentration of IAA in abscission zones. Water deficit increased the ABA content of bolls and abscission zones and decreased the IAA content of bolls and abscission zones. Across all treatments, the IAA content of abscission zones was positively correlated, and the ABA content of bolls was negatively correlated, with boll retention. The results indicate that stresses change the hormonal balance in ways that are consistent with observed increases in fruit abscission.  相似文献

在池栽条件下,以美棉33B为材料,研究花铃期干旱、渍水7 d和渍水14 d处理对棉铃碳水化合物含量的影响及其与生物量累积的关系.结果表明: 干旱处理对下部果枝棉铃铃壳碳水化合物含量的影响较小,降低了中部铃壳碳水化合物含量;干旱处理上部铃壳和渍水处理铃壳可溶性糖、淀粉含量增加,蔗糖含量先降后增,且随渍水持续期延长变幅增大,蔗糖外运受阻加重.与铃壳相比,花铃期干旱和渍水处理对棉籽碳水化合物含量的影响较小.干旱和渍水7 d处理中部果枝棉铃生物量快速增长起始期提前但历时短,下部和上部棉铃生物量累积最大增长速率降低;渍水14 d处理不同果枝部位棉铃生物量累积最大增长速率均降低.相关分析表明,棉铃生物量及其最大增长速率与铃壳可溶性糖和蔗糖含量关系密切.因此,花铃期干旱和渍水影响棉铃蔗糖外运,改变棉铃生物量累积特性,是棉铃生物量降低的原因.

为揭示棉麦两熟共生期遮荫对棉花产量与品质形成的影响。在棉花苗期利用模拟棉麦两熟共生期遮荫的方法进行了研究。结果表明,遮荫对棉铃形成的影响因果枝,果节部位而异,遮荫有利于棉株下(1-3果枝),中(4-6果枝),上(7-9果枝)部果枝内围(1-2果节)铃的形成,对外围(≥3果节)尤其顶部果枝(≥10果枝)外围铃形成不利,从而决定铃重也随果枝,果节部位相应地变化,但遮荫对单株平均铃重的影响畔 小,变遮荫棉花籽棉产量而论,下,中部果枝的内围铃籽棉产量高于常规棉,在上,顶部果枝则相反,各部位果枝外围铃的籽棉产量均低于常规棉,遮荫棉花内,外围铃分布为1:0.36(常规棉为1:0.58),产量分布为1:0.42(常规棉为1:0.72)。苗期遮荫对棉纤维,棉籽品质性状的影响也主要在顶部果枝和上部果枝外围铃,综合分析遮荫棉花产量与品质的形成,棉花苗期耐遮荫性品种间存在差异。在本研究中以中9418耐遮荫性最强,中棉所19和春矮早次之。  相似文献

气相色谱分析的结果表明,开花后5~6天,不受精即将脱落棉铃里IAA和ABA的含量显著高于对照;GA_3处理的铃中IAA和ABA的含量则明显低于对照。IAA和GA_3含量在开花后第10天达到高峰,以后迅速下降,至第30天。又出现第二峰胚珠和纤维里尤为明显。ABA含量在开花后第15天达得高峰,以后下降,到第30天,又逐渐上升。棉纤维伸长及干重增加的最快速率与这三种激素的含量高峰密切相关。  相似文献

The impact of brown stink bug, Euschistus servus (Say), and southern green stink bug, Nezara viridula (L.), injury was evaluated on preflowering and flowering cotton, Gossypium hirsutum L., plants in no-choice tests. Vegetative stage cotton seedlings and reproductive structures, including flower buds (square) and bolls, were infested with adults and/or nymphs of both species. There were no significant differences in height, height to node ratio, square retention, and flower initiation for cotton seedlings or plants with a match-head square between southern green stink bug adult- or brown stink bug adult-infested and noninfested treatments. Abscission for individual large squares (precandle) and multiple squares (medium and small square on the same sympodial branch) was not significantly different among infested and noninfested treatments for the following species and developmental stages: brown stink bug adults, southern green stink bug adults, and third and fourth to fifth instar southern green stink bug nymphs. In boll infestation studies, the relationship between boll maturity, expressed as heat units beyond anthesis, and boll growth, abscission, hard locked carpels, seedcotton yield, and seed germination was measured. Brown stink bug induced abscission in bolls that had accumulated > 0-350 heat units beyond anthesis. Boll growth and seedcotton yield was significantly lower for bolls infested with brown stink bug through 266.5 and 550 heat units beyond anthesis, respectively. The proportion of hard locked carpels per boll was significantly greater for the infested treatment in a cohort of bolls that accumulated from 51 to 400 heat units beyond anthesis. Seed germination in bolls infested with brown stink bug was significantly lower in bolls aged 101-600 heat units beyond anthesis.  相似文献

A field experiment was conducted during the summer of 1988 to test the hypothesis that water deficit affects the abscisic acid (ABA) and indole acetic acid (IAA) concentrations in cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) flower buds in ways that predispose young fruits (bolls) that subsequently develop from them to increased abscission rates. Water deficit had little effect on the ABA content of flower buds but increased the ABA content of flowers as much as 66%. Water deficit decreased the concentrations of free and conjugated IAA in flower buds during the first irrigation cycle but increased them during the second cycle. Flowers contained much less IAA than buds. Water deficit slightly increased the conjugated IAA content of flowers but had no effect on the concentration of free IAA in flowers. Because water deficit slightly increased the ABA content but did not decrease the IAA content of flowers, any carry-over effect of water deficit on young boll shedding might have been caused by changes in ABA but not from changes in IAA.  相似文献

Experiments were conducted with field-grown cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) in 1985 and 1986 to determine effects of water deficit on levels of conjugated indole 3-acetic acid (IAA) and abscisic acid (ABA) in young fruits (bolls) and their abscission zones in relation to boll retention. Tissues were harvested three times during an irrigation cycle in 1985. They were harvested twice during an irrigation cycle and once after irrigation in 1986 to determine extent of recoveries of measured parameters. As reported earlier, the free IAA content of abscission zones decreased with moisture stress. Irrigation caused a partial recovery in free IAA content of abscission zones and caused a partial recovery in rate of boll retention. In contrast to free IAA, conjugated IAA increased with water deficit, both in 3-day-old bolls and in their abscission zones. Bolls contained much more ester IAA than their abscission zones. Some, but not all, of the increase in ester IAA in bolls during moisture stress could have come from a conversion of amide-linked IAA. Amide IAA decreased slightly during stress and increased after irrigation, but the concentration was low relative to ester IAA. Free and conjugated ABA both increased during stress and decreased after irrigation. However, the concentration of conjugated ABA remained relatively high in abscission zones. Ester IAA, being more resistant than free IAA to enzymic destruction during stress, may hasten recovery of fruit retention after relief of stress by providing a source of free IAA in abscission zones to inhibit continued abscission.  相似文献

Significant differences in nucleolar size at early stages ofcotton fibre development have been observed between bolls ofdifferent fruiting branches. Cutting off the apex or removalof the leaf subtending the cotton boll 6 d before floweringor emasculation followed by an addition of GA3 resulted in asignificant decrease of the nucleolar size. Excising half ofthe roots had no influence on the nucleolar activity. The differencesin nucleolar size between bolls of the first and fifth fruitingbranches remained significant except in the case where the leafsubtending the boll was removed. 对4个陆地棉品种(系)双列杂交实验的2年观察资料按包括基因型×环境互作的加性-显性遗传模型进行不同发育阶段开花成铃规律的遗传分析。方差分析表明,开花成铃早期主要受显性效应控制,至中后期加性效应作用逐渐增强,基因型×环境互作效应相对较小。不同发育阶段平均开花成铃数与总铃数的相关分析表明,8月1日前加性相关系数为负数或零值,但存在显著或极显著的显性正相关,8月1日后则相反。不同发育阶段平均开花成铃数的条件遗传分析发现不同时期的基因活动强度不同,7月下旬及8月上中旬最大;检测间隔(t-k)对探讨花铃期基因活动规律有重要作用;选择调查周期时应兼顾实验目的、实验环境条件、入选性状及所处的发育阶段。  相似文献

Summary We investigated inter-specific variation in fruit characteristics — fruit size, seed number per fruit, seed weight, nutritional content, fruit persistence, and fruit synchronization — in relation to flowering and fruiting phenology in 34 species of fleshy fruited plants. Except for aspects of fruit synchrony and persistence, the results in general were inconsistent with previous suggestions about adaptive variation in phenologically related fruit traits. The main results were as follows: (1) Late flowering, late fruiting, lengthy development time from flower to fruit, and highly persistent fruits constitute a complex of correlated characteristics among the species. (2) Synchronization of fruiting within individuals increased from early ripening fruits to late ripening fruits. Fruiting synchrony was more pronounced in species with a small crop size than in species with a large fruit crop, whereas synchrony was not significantly related to flowering synchronization, nor to life form. (3) Nitrogen and carbohydrate content of fruit pulp did not vary in relation to phenology, whereas lipid content decreased from early to late ripening fruits. (4) No seasonal trends were found for variation in seed size or seed number per fruit. (5) Interactions with flowering phenology and developmental constraints are important in phenological fruiting patterns. Temporal variation in start of fruiting was partly (36%) explained by variation in flowering time. Seed weight variation explained 17% of variation in development time from flower to fruit. (6) Despite constraints from flowering and seed development, some adaptive adjustment in fruiting phenology is likely to be allowed for among the investigated species. Such an adaptive variation in fruiting phenology was suggested by intra-generic comparisons of Prunus and Vaccinium species.  相似文献

对罗汉果组培苗生育周期、生长发育习性以及生态适应性进行观测,结果表明:年全生育期为240~260d,定植当年即可正常开花结实。根系与块茎有两个增长高峰期,分别为开花结果期(7月上、中旬)、枯苗期(11月上旬~12月上旬);茎蔓在定植20d内生长较缓慢,之后逐步加快,其中主蔓和一级侧蔓构成植株空间骨架结构,二级侧蔓和三级侧蔓为主要结果蔓;开花座果盛期在7月下旬至8月中旬,花、果着生位置以二级侧蔓的6~15节和三级侧蔓的3~18节为主,点花授粉宜在雌雄花开放的当天上午进行,果实的生长膨大约在座果后的30d内完成,但果实发育成熟约需80d。生长发育的适温为22~28℃,其中旬温25~28℃时对花果生育最为适宜;生长过程中应保持土壤湿润和80%以上的空气湿度;全生育期对氮和钾的吸收量较大,但在生殖生长期,尤其在结果盛期与果实发育期,对磷、钾的需求增加。  相似文献

在棉株结铃前,红铃虫一代卵主要分布于棉株新展开叶上。在棉花单株结铃达2.5个左右时,红铃虫卵均集中分布于棉青铃上。红铃虫二、三代卵分别以由外到内第二、三和第三、四大铃圆锥体位上的青铃卵量分布最多,分别占全株卵量的58.56%和67.19%红铃虫在10天以上日龄的青铃上均可产卵,其中在20~34天日龄的青龄上产卵量最大,占青铃上总卵量的55.02%。一代和二、三代红铃虫卵常分别1~8粒和1~13粒聚产成堆,单个青铃上可同期产卵1~16粒。  相似文献

以科棉1号棉花品种为材料,于2006、2007年在江苏南京(长江流域下游棉区)设置播期(4月25日、5月25日)和生长调节剂(6-BA、ABA)试验,研究低温条件下,外施6-BA、ABA对棉铃及棉纤维发育的影响及其生理机制.结果表明:常温和低温条件下,6-BA处理均能使相应部位棉铃铃质量增加、纤维品质提高;ABA处理在常温条件下会导致品质下降,而在低温逆境条件下可使纤维品质下降幅度减小;6-BA显著提高了棉铃蔗糖含量及蔗糖合成酶、蔗糖磷酸合成酶活性,而ABA则可诱导β-1,3-葡聚糖酶活性;6-BA、ABA对纤维发育关键酶蔗糖转化酶活性的作用效果均不显著.低温条件下外施6-BA、ABA均可提高棉纤维品质,但两者作用机制不尽相同:6-BA主要通过提高纤维素合成相关酶的活性,而ABA则主要通过诱导棉株抗逆性来提高纤维品质.  相似文献

Agricultural crops experience diverse mechanical stimuli, which may affect their growth and development. This study was conducted to investigate the effects of mechanical stresses caused by hanging labels from the flower petioles (HLFP) on plant shape and cotton yields in four cotton varieties: CCRI 41, DP 99B, CCRC 21, and BAI 1. HLFP significantly reduced plant height by between 7.8% and 36.5% in all four lines and also significantly reduced the number of fruiting positions per plant in the CCRI 41, DP 99B and CCRC 21 lines. However, the number of fruiting positions in BAI 1 was unaffected. HLFP also significantly reduced the boll weight for all four cultivars and the seed cotton yields for CCRI 41, DP 99B and BAI 1. Conversely, it significantly increased the seed cotton yield for CCRC 21 by 11.2%. HLFP treatment did not significantly affect the boll count in the fruiting branches of the 1st and 2nd layers in any variety, but did significantly reduce those on the 3rd and 4th fruiting branch layers for CCRI 41 and DP 99B. Similar trends were observed for the number of bolls per FP. In general, HLFP reduced plant height and boll weight. However, the lines responded differently to HLFP treatment in terms of their total numbers of fruiting positions, boll numbers, seed cotton yields, etc. Our results also suggested that HFLP responses might be delayed for some agronomy traits of some cotton genotypes, and that hanging labels from early-opening flowers might influence the properties related with those that opened later on.  相似文献

Premature senescence, unopened and rotted bolls are the primary constrictions hampering the accomplishment of yield potential in Bt cotton. An experiment was conducted with the objectives to delay senescence, enhance boll opening and reduce the boll rotting. The experiment was conducted at two randomly selected sites of University of Agriculture Faisalabad, Pakistan, during 2015 and repeated in 2016. Each experiment was laid out in randomised complete block design with two by two factorial arrangement structure and replicated five times. Treatments were comprised of R0 = no fruit removal; R1 = removal of early fruit branches (REFB) and two genotypes, viz. V1 = FH‐142 and V2 = MNH‐886. Genotypes were selected on the basis of abiotic stress tolerance (FH‐142) and susceptibility (MNH‐886). Nodes above cracked bolls, monopodial branches, opened bolls per plant and seed cotton yield were enhanced by 23, 12, 13 and 17%, respectively, under the influence of REFB over no fruit branch removal, while the REFB‐mediated decrease in boll rotting was 27%. Moreover, the response of MNH‐886 was more remarkable than FH‐142 for all studied variables. Conclusively, REFB increased the number of nodes above a cracked boll, monopodial branches, opened bolls per plant and seed cotton yield while decreased rotted bolls per plant in both genotypes.  相似文献

为克服杏生产中雌蕊败育现象、提高坐果率,该研究以甘肃省敦煌市的‘李光杏’盛果期不同树势(强势树、中庸树和弱势树)和不同类型结果枝(花束状果枝、短果枝、中果枝、长果枝)的花芽为试材,对其开花物候期及生物学特性进行调查,采用石蜡切片观察易发生败育时期(花芽分化初期、雌蕊分化期、花粉细胞期和花蕾膨大期)的花芽内部组织结构形态,同时测定各主要败育时期叶片可溶性糖、淀粉含量及矿质元素的变化。结果表明:(1)弱树花芽的平均败育率最高(91.26%),中庸树最低(71.08%);不同类型结果枝中,花束状果枝花芽的败育率最低,长果枝的败育率最高。(2)不同结果枝类型的花粉生活力表现为花束状果枝>短果枝>中果枝>长果枝,花粉发芽率表现为短果枝>花束状果枝>中果枝>长果枝。各花型花粉生活力表现为雌蕊高于雄蕊>雌雄等长>雌蕊低于雄蕊>无雌蕊,发芽率的表现为雌雄等长>雌蕊高于雄蕊>雌蕊低于雄蕊>无雌蕊。(3)各树势花芽雌蕊分化期叶片可溶性糖与淀粉含量显著低于其他时期;叶片P、K、Ca含量在分化前期较高,但是雌蕊、雄蕊分化期显著下降。(4)与正常花相比,败育花主要表现为子房发育异常,多数生长点不均匀,子房萎缩,胚珠原基发育停滞;雌蕊的花柱低于花丝,且花粉粒急剧减少。研究发现,‘李光杏’树势的强弱会造成败育花比例和坐果率的差异,并以中庸树果实坐果率最高,且花败育率最低;雌蕊发育是否正常直接关系到‘李光杏’正常开花,雌蕊的发育受阻,最终成为整个花芽退化的主要形式;叶片碳水化合物和矿质元素等营养物质参与并保证了花器官的正常发育。  相似文献

The patterns of variability in the production of staminate inflorescences, pistillate flowers, and fruits for Carya ovata (Mill.) K. Koch and C. tomentosa (Poir.) Nutt. at Hutcheson Memorial Forest (Somerset County, New Jersey) were examined over a four-year period. We sought to determine 1) the patterns of variability in flowering and fruiting (within-trees, among-trees, and between-years), 2) if variable flowering might account for observed nut-bearing patterns, and 3) what were the relative contributions of intrinsic (genetic) and/or extrinsic (environmental) factors in determining flower production and fruit set. In general, our fine-scale analysis of shoots within canopies did not reveal a distinct mast fruiting pattern. While the number of male and female flowers varied significantly (among trees and between years), fruit set was not markedly affected. Variability of flowering and fruiting among shoots within trees was low. Both flowering and fruiting were observed to have a strong genetic and/or microenvironmental basis; however, flowering appeared more plastic and thus more sensitive to yearly environmental vagaries than did fruiting. Favorable environmental conditions at the time of flower differentiation may result in increased flower production; but, this does not necessarily result in increased fruit set. Many pistillate flowers abscise around the time of pollination and fertilization, apparently adjusting fruit set to available shoot resources. Approximately 50% of the pistillate flowers of both species fail to set fruit. Overall, individual trees exhibit their own flowering and fruiting schedules, suggesting the need to account for this level of variability in future studies of mast fruiting.  相似文献

Females of woody dioecious species usually devote more resources to reproduction than males. This may lead to a decrease in female survival and growth. The costs of reproduction, however, can be lightened through a number of mechanisms, as for example avoiding the temporal coincidence of reproduction and vegetative growth. The aim of this study was to evaluate whether males and females of P. lentiscus differ in the timing of their vegetative growth, and to assess whether the sequencing of vegetative growth and reproduction reduces reproductive costs. We monitored phenology in males and females. We also compared male and female allocation of nutrients and biomass in the branch, and the developmental stability of the growing shoots. We did this both prior to and at the end of the fruiting period. Males and females showed similar vegetative and flowering phenologies. Males invested more biomass in flowering, but the sexes showed equal vegetative biomass and nutrient content prior to the fruiting period. In female branches, no trade-off was found between fruit load and current-year vegetative growth. In P. lentiscus, avoiding the overlap of flowering, vegetative growth and fruiting probably contributes to reduce the immediate costs of reproductive efforts, both in males and females.  相似文献

The plant growth regulator PGR-IV has been reported to improve the growth, boll retention, and yield of cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) under optimum growing conditions. However, little is known about the response of cotton to PGR-IV under low light stress. A 3-year field study was conducted to determine if applying PGR-IV before an 8-day period of shade (63% light reduction) benefitted the growth and yield of shaded cotton. Shading during early squaring did not affect yield. Shading after the first flower stage significantly increased leaf chlorophyll concentration and fruit abscission and decreased the leaf photosynthetic rate, nonstructural carbohydrate concentrations, and lint yield. Foliar application of PGR-IV at 292 mL ha−1 at early squaring and first flower did not improve the leaf photosynthetic rate of shaded cotton. However, shaded plants receiving PGR-IV had higher nonstructural carbohydrate concentrations in the floral buds and significantly lower fruit abscission than the shaded plants without PGR-IV. Applying PGR-IV to the foliage before shading resulted in a numeric increase (6–18%) in lint yield compared with shaded plants without PGR-IV. The decreased fruit abscission from the application of PGR-IV was associated with improved assimilate translocation. The yield enhancement from foliar application of PGR-IV was attributed to increased fruit retention. However, the average boll weight of shaded plants with PGR-IV tended to be lower than that of shaded plants without PGR-IV. Lint percentage was not affected by PGR-IV.
