The effect of heterosis was studied in several quantitative traits of clone breed and interbreed silkworm hybrids exposed to electromagnetic irradiation ( = 1.6 cm, power density 700 W/cm2) during postdiapause embryonic development. The influence of the type of reproduction on the manifestation of irradiation effects in the next generation was also examined. In hybrids, the resistance to low-intensity high-frequency irradiation was higher than in the parental forms. Unlike the latter, the hybrids showed no significant modification of the traits after the exposure to electromagnetic irradiation. In the second generation, the modifying effect of irradiation is retained in the case of parthenogenetic silkworm development but not after mating.  相似文献

Hybridisation between crops and their wild relatives may promote the evolution of weeds. Seed germination and dormancy are the earliest life‐history traits and are highly influenced by the maternal parent. However, the ecological role of the maternal effect on seed traits in the evolution of crop–wild hybrids has received little attention. In this study, we test the relative importance of maternal and hybridisation effects on seed traits of the first generation of crop–wild sunflower hybrids (Helianthus annuus). Seed germination was tested in two wild populations with contrasting dormancy, two cultivated materials and their reciprocal crosses at four different times after harvest and three different temperatures. Seed germination at each of the four times, after ripening response and secondary dormancy were recorded along with four morphological traits. Additionally, the pericarp anatomy was analysed with light and scanning electron microscopy. We observed strong maternal effects on all seed traits. Seed germination, morphology and pericarp anatomy differed largely between the crop and wild seeds and these traits in the crop–wild hybrids resembled their female parent. Slight but significant hybridisation effects were observed in germination, mainly in seeds produced on wild plants. Crop hybridisation changed seed germination, the after ripening response and secondary dormancy in the crop direction. Morphological and anatomical traits associated with domestication strongly correlated with the observed differences in seed germination and dormancy in crop–wild sunflower hybrids. The large maternal effects along with the evolutionary divergence in seed traits were responsible for the large phenotypic differences observed in crop–wild hybrids with the same genetic composition. Wild‐like seed traits of hybrids suggest that there are no barriers to crop gene introgression at the seed level whereas crop‐like seed traits could be strongly selected against, conditioning the selection of traits expressed later in the life cycle and in the next generations.  相似文献

The effect of weak electromagnetic radiation (36 GHz, 100 mu W/cm2) on the development of the grain beetle Tenebrio molitor was studied. Insects were irradiated in different larval instars and at the pupal stage. It was found that weak electromagnetic radiation stimulated the molting and pupation of larvae and the metamorphosis of pupae. The stimulating effect of radiation was weak when animals were exposed in the initial period of the instar and the pupal stage and was more pronounced if the irradiation was carried out in the second half of the current instar and the pupil stage. The effect of weak electromagnetic radiation on the development of beetle can be related to the function of the hormones of metamorphosis.  相似文献

Summary Nuclear hybrids have been obtained by fusion of mesophyll protoplasts ofNicotiana plumbaginifolia and x-irradiated or iodoacetate-treated mesophyll protoplasts of a kanamycin-resistant line ofN. tabacum. The effect of irradiation on the recovery of asymmetric hybrids was evaluated by analysis of their morphology, fertility, chromosome number, isozyme patterns, restriction patterns in their organelle DNAs, and presence of the kanamycin-resistance gene. The results presented in this paper show that x-ray irradiation leads to a significant reduction in the amount ofN. tabacum genome present in the hybrids and demonstrates, once more, the power of this technique to induce directional loss of genomic traits of the irradiated parent.  相似文献

Hybrid advantage, described as the superiority of hybrids in some traits over their parents and termed the “heterosis effect,” is widely documented in the case of reciprocal crosses of parental species (i.e., hybrids representing the F1 generation). In fish, high survival, fast growth and better health status have been widely documented in F1 hybrids. Nonetheless, the effects of interspecific hybridization on vigour, physiology and immunity-related traits in fish are largely unknown, especially concerning native systems of coexisting parental and hybrid genomes in the same habitat. The present study examined the potential physiological and immune aspects of hybrid heterosis by comparing condition status (measured especially by indexes), haematological profile, glucose concentration and selected parameters of non-specific and specific immunity between the evolutionarily divergent non-congeneric cyprinoid species Abramis brama and Rutilus rutilus and their hybrids representing the F1 generation, all of them caught in nature. Clear differences were documented for vigour-related, physiological and immune parameters between the two divergent species. Hybrids generally tended to express intermediate characters of the measured traits, likely generated by the evolutionary divergence of the hybridizing species; nonetheless, for some traits, hybrids exhibited a character that was more similar to one parental species than to the other. This was interpreted as the heterozygote advantage for F1 hybrids. It is suggested that a maternally inherited genetic background may potentially influence the expression of some branches of non-specific immunity or other aspects related to the fish health status.  相似文献

转基因家蚕Bombyx mori是指利用分子生物学手段,将外源基因转移到家蚕染色体中, 使之出现先前不具有的性状和产物,并且可以保持传代,在个体水平可以体现外源基因的功能,使外源基因获得大量表达。目前转基因家蚕研究主要以piggyBac转座系统为常用载体, 绿色荧光蛋白(green fluorescent protein, GFP)基因为常用报告基因,经显微注射法获得转基因家蚕的成功率可达40%。通过转基因家蚕技术已经探明了家蚕外源导入核受体基因BmFtz-F1,调控家蚕体壁半透明的BmBLOS2基因、蜕皮启动激素(ecdysis-triggering hormone, ETH)基因以及家蚕抗菌肽CecB(cecropin B)基因的功能;获得了具有高品质、高细纤度、高拉伸强度和高弹性丝品种,能吐带绿色荧光或粉红色荧光的蚕丝品种, 抗家蚕核型多角体病毒(Bombyx mori nucleopolyhedrovirus, BmNPV)品种及抗藤黄微球菌的品种;成功表达纯化了人的Ⅲ型前胶原蛋白、 人碱性纤维生长因子、人血清蛋白、人脑源性神经营养因子、人胰岛素生长因子Ⅰ、猫干扰素、单克隆抗体等生物活性蛋白、疫苗及特殊的生物材料。随着家蚕转基因技术的深入研究, 转基因家蚕产物将在国防、 军工、 航天、 医药等方面有着更为广阔的应用前景。  相似文献

In order to study the impact of third and fourth harmonic laser on bio-commercial traits of silkworm Bombyx mori, silkworm eggs of 2, 8, 16 and 24 h old embryos were exposed for varying durations to both third and fourth harmonic lasers. Computation of data is explicit that the third harmonic laser had a positive influence for shorter duration exposures on all traits, like hatching percentage (15% increase), larval weight (14% increase), cocooning percentage (12% increase), cocoon weight (7% increase), shell weight (9% increase), shell ratio (15% increase) and fecundity (11% increase) with significant increases in the batches exposed for shorter durations (up to 90 sec) with respect to their controls. Thereafter levels decreased as the duration of exposure increased. Notably, fourth harmonic laser irradiation reveals the negative effect on all the traits studied in the present study. Surprisingly the filament length was decreased in all irradiated samples for both the third and fourth harmonic laser, expect for 24 h old embryos irradiated for 30 s by the third harmonic laser which showed a 6% increase over the control.  相似文献

The action of nonthermal electromagnetic radiation (EMR) of the millimeter range on the early development of murine and sea urchin embryos was investigated. An MRTA-01E-03 generator with a frequency of 54-78 GHz and radiation intensity of 0.06 mWt/cm2 was used. The embryos were irradiated during 30 min at the stage of two blastomeres. The number of murine embryos that reached the blastocyst stage increased (up to 97.3% in comparison with 87.5% in control). The total time of cultivation up to the blastocyst stage was also shorter (72 h) than in control (96 h). The irradiation had effect on the development of sea urchin embryos only if embryos with a weakened viability were tested. The results indicate that millimeter electromagnetic radiation has a stimulating effect on the early development of embryos, increasing the resistance of embryos to unfavorable environmental conditions.  相似文献

To understand the gene activities controlling nine important agronomic quantitative traits in rice, we applied a North Carolina design 3 (NC III design) analysis to recombinant inbred lines (RILs) in highly heterotic inter- (IJ) and intra-subspecific (II) hybrids by performing the following tasks: (1) investigating the relative contribution of additive, dominant, and epistatic effects for performance traits by generation means analysis and variance component estimates; (2) detecting the number, genomic positions, and genetic effects of QTL for phenotypic traits; and (3) characterizing their mode of gene action. Under an F∞-metric, generation means analysis and variance components estimates revealed that epistatic effects prevailed for the majority of traits in the two hybrids. QTL analysis identified 48 and 66 main-effect QTL (M-QTL) for nine traits in IJ and II hybrids, respectively. In IJ hybrids, 20 QTL (41.7%) showed an additive effect of gene actions, 20 (41.7%) showed partial-to-complete dominance, and 8 (16.7%) showed overdominance. In II hybrids, 34 QTL (51.5%) exhibited additive effects, 14 (21.2%) partial-to-complete dominance, and 18 (27.3%) overdominance. There were 153 digenic interactions (E-QTL) in the IJ hybrid and 252 in the II hybrid. These results suggest that additive effects, dominance, overdominance, and particularly epistasis attribute to the genetic basis of the expression of traits in the two hybrids. Additionally, we determined that the genetic causes of phenotypic traits and their heterosis are different. In the plants we studied, the phenotypic traits investigated and their heterosis were conditioned by different M-QTL and E-QTL, respectively, and were mainly due to non-allelic interactions (epistasis).  相似文献

The effect of modulated electromagnetic fields on the spectral parameters of bioelectric brain activity in awake cats was studied by registering the electroencephalogram from the skin surface in the vertex area using carbon electrodes. In the normal electroencephalogram, spectral components in the range above 20 Hz predominated. It was shown that, upon irradiation with electromagnetic field (basic frequency 980 MHz, power density 30-50 microW/cm2), spectral components in the range of 12-18 Hz begin to prevail. A similarity in the redistribution of the power of spectral components upon both acoustic and modulated electromagnetic influences was revealed. The results suggest that there is a a common neurophysiological mechanism by which modulated electromagnetic radiation and acoustic stimulation affect the electrical activity of the brain. This ia consistent with the assumption that the effect of the electromagnetic field on the central nervous system is mediated through the acoustic sensory system.  相似文献

Low-intensity electromagnetic field (12.6 cm, 2375 MHz, power density 1 mW/cm2) produced retrograde amnesia in the rat passive avoidance test. No effect was registered of microwave irradiation on the open field behavior and the pain sensitivity. Functional activity of the m-cholinergic receptors decreased, but their number increased in the brain cortex. It is suggested that cholinergic system plays an important role in the effects of electromagnetic field on memory processes.  相似文献

研究采用混合线性模型,对家蚕全茧量、茧层量、茧层率和蛹体重等性状的性别效应进行理论估算:全茧量、茧层量、茧层率和蛹体重等4性状的性别随机效应的方差的概率和性别随机效应的预测值概率都达到极显著水平,证明全茧量、茧层量、茧层率和蛹体重等四性状的性别效应极显著,这完全符合实际情况。全茧量、茧层量、茧层率和蛹体重等4性状的性别效应预测值雌(雄)分别为0.248g(-0.247g)、2.423cg(-2.394)cg、-1.976%(1.992%)和0.224g(-0.223g)。性别效应调整后各性状均呈单峰正态分布,符合QTL分析对数量性状连续正态分布的要求。  相似文献

A possible effect of interpopulation hybridization is either outbreeding depression, as a consequence of breakdown of coadapted gene complexes which can increase developmental instability (DI) of the traits, or increased heterozygosity, which can reduce DI. One of the principal methods commonly used to estimate DI is the variability of fluctuating asymmetry (FA). We analysed the effect of interpopulation hybridization in Drosophila subobscura through the variability in the wing size and the FA of wing length and width for both sexes in parental, F1 and F2 generations. The results of the wing size per se in intra- and interpopulation hybrids of D. subobscura do not explicitly reveal the significance of either of the two hypotheses. However, the results of the FA of the wing traits give a different insight. The FA of wing length and width generally increases in interpopulation crosses in F1 with respect to the FA in the parental generation, which suggests the possibility that outbreeding depression occurred in the first generation after the hybridization event. We generally observed that the FA values for the wing length and width of interpopulation hybrids were higher in F1 and F2 generations, compared to intrapopulation hybrids in same generations. These results suggest that the association between coadaptive genes with the same evolutionary history are the most probable mechanism that maintains the developmental homeostasis in Drosophila subobscura populations.  相似文献

Hybridization can generate novel phenotypes distinct from those of parental lineages, a phenomenon known as transgressive trait variation. Transgressive phenotypes might negatively or positively affect hybrid fitness, and increase available variation. Closely related species of Heliconius butterflies regularly produce hybrids in nature, and hybridization is thought to play a role in the diversification of novel wing colour patterns despite strong stabilizing selection due to interspecific mimicry. Here, we studied wing phenotypes in first‐ and second‐generation hybrids produced by controlled crosses between either two co‐mimetic species of Heliconius or between two nonmimetic species. We quantified wing size, shape and colour pattern variation and asked whether hybrids displayed transgressive wing phenotypes. Discrete traits underlain by major‐effect loci, such as the presence or absence of colour patches, generate novel phenotypes. For quantitative traits, such as wing shape or subtle colour pattern characters, hybrids only exceed the parental range in specific dimensions of the morphological space. Overall, our study addresses some of the challenges in defining and measuring phenotypic transgression for multivariate traits and our data suggest that the extent to which transgressive trait variation in hybrids contributes to phenotypic diversity depends on the complexity and the genetic architecture of the traits.  相似文献

Over the last three decades, broccoli (Brassica oleracea L., Italica Group) hybrids made by crossing two inbred lines replaced open-pollinated populations to become the predominant type of cultivar. The change to hybrids evolved with little or no understanding of heterosis or hybrid vigor in this crop. Therefore, the purpose of the present study was to determine levels of heterosis expressed by a set of hybrids derived by crossing relatively elite, modern inbreds (n = 9). An additional objective was to determine if PCR-based marker derived genetic similarities among the parents can be useful to predict heterosis in this crop. Thirty-six hybrids derived from a diallel mating design involving nine parents were evaluated for five horticultural characters including the head characteristics of head weight, head stem diameter, and maturity (e.g., days from transplant to harvest), and the plant vigor characteristics of plant height, and plant width in four environments. A total of 409 polymorphic markers were generated by 24 AFLP, 23 SRAP and 17 SSR primer combinations. Euclidean distances between parents were determined based on phenotypic traits. About half of the hybrids exhibited highparent heterosis for head weight (1–30 g) and stem diameter (0.2–3.5 cm) when averaged across environments. Almost all hybrids showed highparent heterosis for plant height (1–10 cm) and width (2–13 cm). Unlike other traits, there was negative heterosis for maturity, indicating that heterosis for this character in hybrids is expressed as earliness. Genetic similarity estimates among the nine parental lines ranged from 0.43 to 0.71 and were significantly and negatively correlated with highparent heterosis for all traits except for stem diameter and days from transplant to harvest. Euclidean distances were not correlated with heterosis. With modern broccoli inbreds, less heterosis was observed for head characteristics than for traits that measured plant vigor. In addition, genetic similarity based on molecular markers was more highly correlated with plant vigor characteristics than head traits. Unlike with molecular marker-based estimates of genetic similarity, euclidean distance determined using phenotypic trait data was not predictive of heterosis. In conclusion, this study has documented heterosis in Brassica oleracea L., and the ability to predict heterosis in this crop using molecular marker-based estimates of genetic similarity among parents used in producing the hybrid. The silkworm, Bombyx mori, is an economically important insect that was domesticated more than 5000 years ago. Its major economic traits focused on by breeders are quantitative traits, and an accurate and efficient QTL mapping method is necessary to explore their genetic architecture. However, current widely used QTL mapping models are not well suited for silkworm because they ignore female achiasmate and gender effects. In this study, we propose a composite method combining rational population selection and special mapping methods to map QTL in silkworm. By determining QTL for cocoon shell weight (CSW), we demonstrated the effectiveness of this method. In the CSW mapping process, only 56 markers were used and five loci or chromosomes were detected, more than in previous studies. Additionally, loci on chromosomes 1 and 11 dominated and accounted for 35.10% and 15.03% of the phenotypic variance respectively. Unlike previous studies, epistasis was detected between loci on chromosomes 11 and 22. These mapping results demonstrate the power and convenience of this method for QTL mapping in silkworm, and this method may inspire the development of similar approaches for other species with special genetic characteristics.  相似文献

In most plant invasions, morphological and ecological characteristics are often examined to understand which might facilitate invasive spread, but ecophysiology may also be important to consider. This was examined in Callery pear (Pyrus calleryana Decne.), a popular ornamental tree from Asia that is sold throughout the United States and which has spread following hybridization among cultivar and rootstock genotypes. To determine the impact of ecophysiology on invasiveness in this species, we examined the photosynthetic rate, transpiration, stomatal conductance, and water use efficiency (WUE) in two generations of offspring grown under differing levels of stress over time. Individuals originating from seed of known cultivars (F1 or ‘early generation hybrids’) or from wild individuals (F2 or ‘advanced generation hybrids’) were measured in four sampling periods: 6-month-old saplings, 3-year-old Root-Bound saplings with no fertilization, the same saplings after transplantation into larger pots, and then after the saplings had experienced a period of water and nutrient stress. Ecophysiology differed significantly between the two generations, but the direction and magnitude of significance varied within the Root-Bound sampling period. Advanced generation hybrids exhibited greater photosynthetic and transpiration rates as well as stomatal conductance in the Root-Bound sampling period. In contrast, WUE was lower in the advanced generation hybrids in the Initial and Root-Bound sampling periods. Although P. calleryana exhibited moderate and comparable photosynthetic characteristics relative to other deciduous species, invasive spread in this species may be influenced by other traits, such as abundant seed production. Consequently, photosynthetic characteristics may not be the sole source of invasiveness in this species.  相似文献

We have studied the effect of weak electromagnetic field on the morphogenesis of the planarian Dugesia tigrina. Regeneration of the pharynx was examined after its amputation. We have determined the rate of the appearance of the food response of a new pharynx. Experimental conditions were varied, such as dose and duration of irradiation, season, and time of irradiation after surgery. The results of experiments conducted with 2966 planarians have shown that weak electromagnetic field has various effects, which appear either as stimulation of regeneration or as its inhibition. In some experiments, there was no effect at all. These differences depend on numerous factors and may be modulated.  相似文献

Summary Recurrent or introgressive backcrossing of Phaseolus vulgaris — P. acutifolius hybrids with either P. vulgaris or P. acutifolius increased fertility, as measured by pollen stainability and seed per pod from non-manipulated flowers, while invariably resulting in loss of traits from the non-recurrent parent. When hybrids were backcrossed with each of the parent species in alternate generations (congruity backcrossing), fertility decreased in early generations but gradually increased in later generations. By the fourth or fifth generation, congruity-backcross hybrids produced numbers of seeds per pod from non-manipulated flowers comparable to those of parent species, although the percent of stainable pollen tended to be lower. Congruity-backcross hybrids were intermediate to parent species when pedigrees contained equal representation of parents but favored the majority parent when pedigrees were unbalanced. Individuals exhibiting symptoms of developmental incongruity, such as abnormal leaflet number, foliar variagation, or unusual growth patterns, occurred in each generation. However, completely new characteristics appeared after the second backcross generation, presumably due to recombination. It was found that single total-body exposure to electromagnetic centimeter waves (8.15-18 GHz, 1 microW/cm2, 5 h) stimulated the proliferation of mouse T and B splenic lymphocytes. The same effects were observed upon in vivo treatment of rats for 5 h with millimeter waves (42.2 GHz, amplitude modulation 10 Hz, 1 microW/cm2). The whole-body irradiation with centimeter or millimeter waves did not cause any significant changes in natural activity of killer cells. The cellular responses induced by the irradiation of isolated animal cells in vitro did not coincide with those revealed after the total-body irradiation of animals. Thus, the in vitro irradiation of natural killer cells to millimeter waves for 1 h increased their cytotoxic activity whereas, after treatment to centimeter waves for the same time, the activity of killer cells did not change. On the contrary, irradiation of T and B lymphocytes with millimeter waves (42.2 GHz, amplitude modulation 10 Hz, 1 microW/cm2, 1 h) suppressed the blasttransformation of cells. The results show a higher immunostimulative potential of centimeter waves as compared to millimeter waves.  相似文献
