To clarify the taxonomic delimitation of the Lateolabrax japonicus complex, we conducted morphological and molecular analyses of 79 individuals collected from 10 localities in Korea. Assignment of individuals into three types (sea bass [SB], spotted sea bass [SSB] and intermediate sea bass [ISB]) was performed according to the presence/absence of black spots, and the distribution of black spots if present. Results of a canonical discriminant analysis showed that SB and ISB are closely related, but SSB is distinct from SB + ISB. Based on mitochondrial DNA COI sequences (507 bp), SB and ISB clustered together, and this cluster was distinct from that of SSB (d = 0.072–0.085). STRUCTURE analysis using six microsatellite markers showed the existence of two genetically differentiated groups (SB + ISB and SSB). However, ISB had a greater number of mixed individuals than SB and SSB, and was located distantly far from SB in the PCoA axis 2, implying restricted secondary contact within L. japonicus complex.  相似文献

Use and application of Schiff bases are extended to many different fields of technology. (ISE)M(CO)5 complex [M?=?Cr (1), Mo (2), W (3), and where ISE is 3[4-ethyl(phenly)imino][indoline-2-one]; and (ISB)M(CO)5 [M?=?Cr (4), Mo (5), W (6)], where ISB is 3[4-butly(phenly)imino][indoline-2-one] were investigated by computational methods. Computations were carried out using density functional theory (DFT) with B3LYP and CAM-B3LYP functionals, in conjunction with LanL2DZ basis set for metals and cc-PVTZ basis set for other atoms. Time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) was used at the same level to obtain the electronic transitions. Molecular orbital energies, UV-Vis spectra, and total electron densities of investigated molecules were shown in the gas phase and in THF. Metal complexes showed higher absorption coefficients compared to ISE and ISB in the visible region. Additionally, they displayed absorption peaks at longer wavelengths and full MLCT character in solution, and W complexes required less energy compared to the complexes of other investigated metal ions. Among the investigated systems, (ISE)W(CO)5 and (ISB)W(CO)5 complexes with lowest HOMO-LUMO gaps are found to be the best candidates for photosensitive material production.

The mixing of an insecticide with sugar solution creates an oral toxin or insecticidal sugar bait (ISB) useful for reducing adult insect populations. The ability of ISBs to kill the biting midge Culicoides sonorensis Wirth and Jones (Diptera: Ceratopogonidae), a vector of bluetongue virus, epizootic hemorrhagic disease and vesicular stomatitis viruses, was tested. The commercial insecticide formulations (percentage active ingredient) tested included bifenthrin, cyfluthrin, deltamethrin, permethrin, dinotefuran, imidacloprid, thiamethoxam and spinosad. Mortality rates were determined for various concentrations of commercial formulations (0.01, 0.05, 0.1, 1, 2 and 3%) and observed at 1, 4, 10 and 24 h post‐exposure to the ISB. In the first set of assays, laboratory‐reared midges were fed sugar ad libitum and then exposed to insecticide‐treated sugar solutions to measure mortality. The second assay assessed competitive feeding: midges were provided with a control sugar solution (10% sucrose) in one vial, and a sugar and insecticide solution in another. Pyrethroid treatments resulted in the greatest mortality in the first hour at the lowest concentrations and spinosad consumption resulted in the least mortality. Biting midges were not deterred from feeding on the 1% ISB solutions despite the presence of an insecticide‐free alternative source of sugar.  相似文献

Anthropogenic climate change is inherently a biometeorological issue. As such, it would be reasonably expected that the International Society of Biometeorology (ISB) and its journal, International Journal of Biometeorology (IJB), would have had climate change feature prominently in their activities, articles etc., and to therefore have made a substantial and valuable contribution to the science of the issue. This article presents an analysis of climate change science in ISB and IJB. The analysis focusses on climate-change-related publications by ISB Presidents found through searches of Thomson Reuters Web of Science; contributions to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC’s) Working Group II (WGII) by ISB Presidents; and climate change-related publications in IJB found through searches of Thomson Reuters Web of Science. The results demonstrate that the ISB, as represented by its recent, current, and future Presidents, is actively engaged in climate change research and the production of scholarly climate change publications. For example, ISB Presidents have contributed as authors to all four IPCC WGII Assessment Reports, with some Presidents having contributed to more than one Assessment Report or several chapters of the one report. Similarly, it is evident that the IJB is increasingly attracting and publishing climate-change-related articles, with such articles generally having greater impact (as indicated by citations) than other IJB articles. Opportunities for the ISB to provide an internal framework for, and showcase, its climate change work are described. Such opportunities, if enacted, would complement the recent creation of two IJB climate change Field Editor positions.  相似文献

The recent development of genome mapping resources for the domestic cat provides a unique opportunity to study comparative medicine in this companion animal which can inform and benefit both veterinary and human biomedical concerns. We describe here the integration and order comparison of the feline radiation hybrid (RH) map with the feline interspecies backcross (ISB) genetic linkage map, constructed by a backcross of F1 hybrids between domestic cat (Felis catus) and the Asian leopard cat (Prionailurus bengalensis). Of 253 microsatellite loci mapped in the ISB, 176 equivalently spaced markers were ordered among a framework of 424 Type I coding markers in the RH map. The integration of the RH and ISB maps resolves the orientation of multiple linkage groups and singleton loci from the ISB genetic map. This integrated map provides the foundation for gene mapping assessments in the domestic cat and in related species of the Felidae family. Numerous methods exist to estimate the pose of the axes of rotation of the forearm. These include anatomical definitions, such as the conventions proposed by the ISB, and functional methods based on instantaneous helical axes, which are commonly accepted as the modelling gold standard for non-invasive, in-vivo studies. We investigated the validity of a third method, based on regression equations, to estimate the rotation axes of the forearm. We also assessed the accuracy of both ISB methods. When performing radiostereometric analysis (RSA), computed tomography scans are often taken to obtain the landmarks used to create anatomical coordinate systems (CSs) for quantifying joint kinematics. Different conventions for defining CSs lead to an inability to compare results among studies. The International Society of Biomechanics (ISB) has proposed a set of CSs; however, the landmarks needed to create the recommended scapular CS require the entire scapula to be scanned, thereby also exposing breast and other tissues to radiation. The main purpose of this work was to investigate an alternate definition of the CS that has repeatably attainable landmarks and axes as close as possible to those recommended by the ISB, while limiting the portion of the scapula requiring scanning. Intra- and inter-investigator variabilities of landmark digitization were quantified in one model of a scapula and one cadaveric specimen. Based on the variability of the digitizations, an alternative CS was defined. The differences between the ISB and alternative CSs were evaluated on 11 cadaveric specimens. Beaded biplanar RSA was performed on the glenohumeral joint model in 15 different configurations and the resulting kinematics were calculated for each set of landmark digitizations using both sets of coordinate systems. While the kinematic angles obtained using the alternative CS were statistically different from those obtained using the ISB standard, these differences were small (on the order of 5°) and therefore considered to be of little clinical significance. In all likelihood, the benefits of decreasing radiation exposure outweigh these differences in angles.  相似文献

The International Society of Biomechanics (ISB) has recommended a standardisation for the motion reporting of almost all human joints. This study proposes an adaptation for the trapeziometacarpal joint.

The definition of the segment coordinate system of both trapezium and first metacarpal is based on functional anatomy. The definition of the joint coordinate system (JCS) is guided by the two degrees of freedom of the joint, i.e. flexion–extension about a trapezium axis and abduction–adduction about a first metacarpal axis. The rotations obtained using three methods are compared on the same data: the fixed axes sequence proposed by Cooney et al., the mobile axes sequence proposed by the ISB and our alternative mobile axes sequence. The rotation amplitudes show a difference of 9° in flexion–extension, 2° in abduction–adduction and 13° in internal–external rotation.

This study emphasizes the importance of adapting the JCS to the functional anatomy of each particular joint.  相似文献
