The monotypic genus Eclysis K.H. Barnard, 1932 and its type species, E. similis Barnard, are redescribed based upon a newly discovered second specimen. The genus Bathypanoploea Schellenberg, 1939 is reviewed; B. schellenbergi Holman and Watling, 1983 is fixed as the type species. B. polarsterni n. sp. is described; Alexandrella pulchra Ren in Ren and Huang, 1991 is a new junior synonym of B. schellenbergi. A new caprellid species, Caprellinoides singularis, is described and illustrated based on the material collected on the Polarstern Cruise ANT XVII/3 from the Branfield Strait. The most striking characteristic of this species is the presence of bilobed gills on pereonites 3 and 4. The genus Caprellinoides is revised. Caprellinoides antarctica Schellengerg, 1926 and Caprellinoides spinosus Barnard, 1930 are considered junior synonyms of Caprellinoides tristanensis Stebbing, 1888 and Caprellinoides mayeri (Pfeffer, 1888), respectively. The new species, C. singularis, is compared with the remaining species in the genus Caprellinoides: C. tristanensis and C. mayeri, which are illustrated in detail. The Southern hemisphere aorid amphipod genera Haplocheira Haswell and Kuphocheira Barnard are revised and Anonychocheirus gen. nov. is described from Antarctica. A key is provided to distinguish the three genera and six species currently known. Material attributed to H. barbimana (Thomson, 1879) from Antarctica, South Georgia, Australia, lies de Kerguelen, New Zealand and Auckland Is. has been re-examined. The Antarctic material proves to be separate on the basis of antennal peduncle proportions, shape of lateral cephalic angle and shape and setation of peraeopod bases. Stebbing's species plumosa is re-established for this entity. Haplocheira robusta Barnard is synonymized with H. barbimana and three subspecies are described, viz. H.b. barbimana (Thomson) from New Zealand and Auckland Is., H.b. typica Haswell from Australia and lies de Kerguelen (shallow water) and H.b. robusta Barnard from Magellanic South America and the Falkland islands. Haplocheira balssi Schellenberg remains a separate species. Kuphocheira setimanus Barnard is re-assessed and K. emancipata sp. nov. described from Antarctica. The new genus Anonychocheirus is presently known only from the type species A. richardsoni sp. nov. described herein.  相似文献

The genus Cheimacheramus Barnard, 1934 Barnard, K.H. (1934), ‘South African Caddis-Flies (Trichoptera)’, Transactions of the Royal Society of South Africa, 21, 291394.[Taylor &; Francis Online] [Google Scholar] included only three species, one from South Africa and two from Madagascar. Four new Malagasy species are described herein: Cheimacheramus akandi sp. n., Cheimacheramus barnardi sp. n. and Cheimacheramus anjojorobensis sp. n. from the Anjojorobe Forest, Cheimacheramus madecassus sp. n. from the Lakato Forest and the Marojejy National Park. Diagnostic characters of the genus and species are discussed and illustrated. In Madagascar, these discoveries confirm the localization of the genus within the eastern evergreen forests.

Summary. The little-known flower mantis genus Heliomantis Giglio-Tos 1915 (Hymenopodidae) distributed in South and South-Eastern Asia is revised. All species are redescribed. New data on the morphology, distribution and ecology are given, and all known specimens are listed. The lectotype of H. elegans (Navás 1904) is designated. Due to highly divergent morphology, H. latipennis Werner 1930 from Sarawak, Borneo, is transferred to Werneriana n. gen., leaving the genus Heliomantis with the only species, H. elegans (Navás, 1904).  相似文献

Aberrant patterns in promoter methylation of tumor-suppressor genes and posttranslational modifications of histone proteins are considered as major features of malignancy. In this study, we aimed to investigate promoter methylation of three tumor-suppressor genes (BRCA-1, MGMT, and P16) and three histone marks (H3K9ac, H3K18ac, and H4K20me3) in patients with breast tumors. This case-control study included 27 patients with malignant breast tumors (MBT) and 31 patients with benign breast tumors (BBT). The methylation-specific PCR was used for determining promoter methylation of BRCA-1, MGMT, and P16 genes. Western blot analysis was performed to detect histone lysine acetylation (H3K9ac and H3K18ac) and lysine methylation (H4K20me3). BRCA-1 promoter methylation was detected in 44.4% of the MBT whereas this alteration was found in 9.7% of BBT (P = 0.005). The Kaplan-Meier analysis indicated that hypermethylation in BRCA-1 promoter was significantly associated with poor overall survival of patients with breast cancer (P = 0.039). MGMT promoter methylation was identified in 18.5% of MBT and 0.0% of the BBT (P = 0.01). The frequency of P16 promoter methylation was 25.8% in BBT and 11.1% in MBT (P = 0.12). As compared with BBT, MBT samples displayed the aberrant patterns of histones marks with hypomethylation of H4K20 and hypoacetylation of H3K18 (P = 0.03 and P = 0.04, respectively). There was a negative significant correlation between H3K9ac levels and tumor size in MBT group (r = −0.672; P = 0.008). The present findings suggest that promoter hypermethylation of MGMT and BRCA-1 genes along with alterations in H3K18ac and H4K20me3 levels may have prognostic values in patients with breast cancer. Moreover, the detection of these epigenetic modifications in breast tumors could be helpful in finding new methods for breast cancer therapy.  相似文献

Summary Entomelas entomelas (Dujardin, 1845) Travassos, 1930, the type species of Entomelas, is redescribed based on specimens from Anguis fragilis and Ophisaurus apodus. The generic diagnosis is emended. E. dujardini (Maupas, 1916) Travassos, 1930, Paraentomelas kazachstanika (Sharpilo & Vakker, 1972) Sharpilo, 1976 and Hexadontophorus ophisauri Kreis, 1939 are synonymized with E. entomelas and the genera Paraentomelas and Hexadontophorus fall as synonyms of Entomelas. Kurilonema Szczerbak & Sharpilo, 1969 is synonymized with Entomelas and the type species, K. markovi, is reclassified as Entomelas markovi (Szczerbak & Sharpilo, 1969) n. comb. Entomelas cruszi n. sp. is described from agamid lizards of Sri Lanka. The genera in the Rhabdiasidae are reviewed and a key is provided. Ophiorhabdias Yamaguti, 1943 and Shorttia Singh & Ratnamala, 1977 are designated synonyms of Rhabdias Stiles & Hassall, 1905. ac]19790201  相似文献

East Asian species of the genera Hybrizon and Ghilaromma are reviewed. Four species of Hybrizon, H. buccatus (Brébisson 1825), H. ghilarovi Tobias, 1988, H. juncoi (Ceballos 1957) and H. flavofacialis Tobias, 1988 and two species of Ghilaromma, G. orientalis Tobias, 1988 and G. ussuriensis Tobias, 1988, were recognized. H. ghilarovi was recorded from Korea, Japan and China, while H. juncoi was recorded from Korea, for the first time. The specimens recorded from Japan as G. fuliginosi (Wilkinson, 1930) by Watanabe (1984) are referred to G. orientalis herein. This species is newly recorded from Korea and Japan. Keys to East Asian species of Hybrizon and the world species of Ghilaromma are also provided.  相似文献

The epigenetic mechanism of folic acid (FA) action on dorsal root ganglion (DRG) cell proliferation and sensory neuron differentiation is not well understood. In this study, the ND7 cell line, derived from DRG cells, was used to elucidate this mechanism. In ND7 cells differentiated with dbcAMP and NGF, Hes1 and Pax3 levels decreased, whereas Neurog2 levels showed a modest increase. Chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP) assays examining epigenetic marks at the Hes1 promoter showed that FA favored increased H3K9 and H3K19 acetylation and decreased H3K27 methylation. Hence, FA plays a positive role in cell proliferation. In differentiated ND7 cells, H3K27 methylation decreased, whereas H3K9 and H3K18 acetylation increased at the Neurog2 promoter. FA did not favor this phenotypic outcome. Additionally, in differentiated ND7 Neurog2 associated with the NeuroD1 promoter, FA decreased this association. The results suggest that the switch from proliferation to sensory neuron differentiation in DRG cells is regulated by alterations in epigenetic marks, H3K9/18 acetylation and H3K27 methylation, at Hes1 and Neurog2 promoters, as well as by Neurog2 association with NeuroD1 promoter. FA although positive for proliferation, does not appear to play a role in differentiation.  相似文献

In Arabidopsis, the rapid‐flowering summer‐annual versus the vernalization‐requiring winter‐annual growth habit is determined by natural variation in FRIGIDA (FRI) and FLOWERING LOCUS C (FLC). However, the biochemical basis of how FRI confers a winter‐annual habit remains elusive. Here, we show that FRI elevates FLC expression by enhancement of histone methyltransferase (HMT) activity. EARLY FLOWERING IN SHORT DAYS (EFS), which is essential for FRI function, is demonstrated to be a novel dual substrate (histone H3 lysine 4 (H3K4) and H3K36)‐specific HMT. FRI is recruited into FLC chromatin through EFS and in turn enhances EFS activity and engages additional HMTs. At FLC, the HMT activity of EFS is balanced by the H3K4/H3K36‐ and H3K4‐specific histone demethylase (HDM) activities of autonomous‐pathway components, RELATIVE OF EARLY FLOWERING 6 and FLOWERING LOCUS D, respectively. Loss of HDM activity in summer annuals results in dominant HMT activity, leading to conversion to a winter‐annual habit in the absence of FRI. Thus, our study provides a model of how growth habit is determined through the balance of the H3K4/H3K36‐specific HMT and HDM activities.  相似文献
