Serum sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG), testosterone (T), DHEA sulphate (DHEA-S), androstenedione (AD) and delta 5-androstene-3 beta,17 beta-diol sulphate (5-ADIOL-S) levels were measured by specific radioimmunoassay in 16 girls presenting with premature adrenarche (PA) and in 14 normal girls. Mean levels of steroids measured were elevated, and SHBG significantly depressed, in the girls with PA, with values (mean +/- SE) for DHEA-S (1.73 +/- 0.17 vs 0.25 +/- 0.06 mumol/l), 5-ADIOL-S (104 +/- 8 vs 31 +/- 4 nmol/l), AD (0.89 +/- 0.06 vs 0.62 +/- 0.04 nmol/l), and T (0.49 +/- 0.03 vs 0.23 +/- 0.06 nmol/l). SHBG levels were 68 +/- 6 vs 108 +/- 5 nmol/l, and the free androgen index [100 x T (nmol/l) divided by SHBG (nmol/l)] was 0.89 +/- 0.17 vs 0.22 +/- 0.01. These studies show that SHBG is depressed in girls with premature adrenarche; with the increased testosterone levels, this results in a markedly elevated free androgen index, a measure of testosterone which is bioavailable to target tissue. This may be compounded by the elevated levels of 5-ADIOL-S in girls with PA since its role may be as a prohormone for more potent androgens (testosterone, 5 alpha-dihydrotestosterone) in target tissues such as pubic skin.  相似文献

Klinefelter syndrome (KS) is the most common genetic form of male hypogonadism, but the phenotype becomes evident only after puberty. During childhood, and even during early puberty, pituitary-gonadal function in 47,XXY subjects is relatively normal, but from midpuberty onwards, FSH and LH levels increase to hypergonadotropic levels, inhibin B decreases to undetectable levels, and testosterone after an initial increase levels off at a low or low-normal level. Hence, most adult KS males display a clear hypergonadotropism with a varying degree of androgen deficiency; subsequently, testosterone substitution therapy is widely used to prevent symptoms and sequels of androgen deficiency. Testicular biopsies of prepubertal KS boys have shown preservation of seminiferous tubules with reduced numbers of germ cells, but Sertoli and Leydig cells have appeared normal. The testes in the adult KS male are, however, characterized by extensive fibrosis and hyalinization of the seminiferous tubules, and hyperplasia of the interstitium, but the tubules may show residual foci of spermatogenesis. Introduction of testicular sperm extraction in combination with intracytoplasmic sperm injection techniques has allowed non-mosaic KS males to father children.  相似文献

Serum sulphates of 5-androstene-3 beta,17 beta-diol (5-ADIOL-S), 5 alpha-androstane-3 alpha,17 beta-diol (3 alpha-DIOL-S) and dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA-S), unconjugated androstene-dione (AD) and testosterone (T), sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG), free androgen index (FAI), 17 alpha-hydroxyprogesterone (17OHP), luteinising hormone (LH) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) were measured by specific radioimmunoassay in 28 hirsute women with polycystic ovarian disease (PCO) and in normal women (n = 73). Mean levels of steroids measured were significantly elevated, and SHBG significantly depressed, in the women with PCO with values (mean +/- SE) for 5-ADIOL-S (516 +/- 51 vs 267 +/- 10 nmol/l), 3 alpha-DIOL-S (130 +/- 9 vs 52 +/- 2 nmol/l), DHEA-S (7.3 +/- 0.5 vs 4.4 +/- 0.2 mumol/l), AD (11.3 +/- 1.1 vs 3.4 +/- 0.2 nmol/l), T (3.3 +/- 0.2 vs 1.5 +/- 0.1 nmol/l) and 17OHP (5.1 +/- 0.8 vs 2.8 +/- 0.2 nmol/l). SHBG levels were 31 +/- 2.9 vs 65 +/- 2.5 nmol/l, and the free androgen index [100 x T (nmol/l) divided by (SHBG nmol/l)] was 12.5 +/- 1.4 vs 2.4 +/- 0.1. The mean LH to FSH ratio was also elevated at 2.8 +/- 0.3. These studies suggest that the measurement of 5-ADIOL-S and DHEA-S may indicate adrenal gland involvement in PCO while 3 alpha-DIOL-S appears to be a reflection of peripheral androgen metabolism. A comprehensive biochemical profile of PCO should thus include the analysis of these sulphoconjugates as well as unconjugated steroids.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: Recent studies have assessed gonadal function in association with different immunosuppressive drugs in transplanted patients mainly relying on the measurement of total testosterone. It is the aim of this study to assess the short-term changes of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis following renal transplantation using the free androgen index (FAI). PATIENTS AND METHODS: The sequential changes in total testosterone, sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG), gonadotropin and prolactin concentrations were measured in 22 male patients before and after 1-3 days, and 1, 2 and 3 weeks following renal transplantation. RESULTS: Total testosterone and SHBG concentrations dropped significantly after transplantation (total testosterone: baseline: 15.2 +/- 1.6 nmol/l vs. 1 week: 7.9 +/- 0.8 nmol/l vs. 2 weeks: 9.8 +/- 0.9 nmol/l, SHBG: baseline: 29.9 +/- 3.2 nmol/l vs. 1 week: 19.9 +/- 2.1 nmol/l, 2 weeks: 18.9 +/- 2.4 nmol/l, p < 0.01). FAI decreased significantly after day 1-3 returning to values near baseline thereafter (baseline: 60 +/- 9% vs. day 1-3: 38 +/- 6%, 2 weeks: 61 +/- 7%; p < 0.01). There was a significant positive correlation between FAI and renal function. CONCLUSION: Measurement of the free androgen index is superior to total testosterone for assessment of the pituitary-gonadal axis in the first weeks after renal transplantation.  相似文献

To compare physiological and developmental differences between two cogeneric species that differ by seasonal vs. aseasonal breeding, values for morphological measurements, testicular volume, serum testosterone, estradiol, and dehydroepiandrosterone-sulfate levels were obtained from 53 rhesus during the early breeding season, as well as 41 pig-tailed macaque males maintained at the Tulane Primate Center. The two species exhibited similar body size, testosterone, and estradiol levels, but differed substantially in testicular volume (3.00 +/- 1.7 vs. 1.72 +/- 1.3 cc), abdominal skinfold measures (15.7 +/- 9.2 vs. 9.0 +/- 7.7 mm), and DHEA-S levels (18.0 +/- 11.7 vs. 7.6 +/- 5.4 microg/dl). Significant interaction effects for species by age group were found for weight, tricep circumference, length, and estradiol level. In addition, length was more closely related to testicular volume among rhesus compared to pig-tailed macaques, suggesting different developmental patterns between the species. Predictors of hormonal levels differed between the two species. In the rhesus, estradiol levels were related to testicular volume and testosterone levels while there were no anthropometric predictors of testosterone or DHEA-S. For the pig-tailed macaques, testicular volume was related to tricep circumference, testosterone to triceps skinfold and testicular volume, and estradiol to weight. It is argued that rhesus have larger testes for body size and more abdominal fat deposits during the early breeding season relative to pig-tailed macaques reflecting the increased demands of sperm competition in a seasonally breeding species. Hormonal differences associated with the difference in breeding system appear to be primarily related to adrenal rather than testicular activity.  相似文献

Single venous blood samples were collected from 52 hyaenas and serial samples via indwelling jugular catheters from 8 hyaenas. Social status of the hyaenas was unknown. Radioimmunoassay estimations were specific for testosterone, androstenedione, cortisol and LH. No significant differences could be found between the sexes for concentrations of testosterone (adult males 2.9 +/- 1.3 nmol/l; adult females (non-pregnant) 1.6 +/- 0.3 nmol/l). Androstenedione concentrations in sub-adult males were significantly lower than those in females (2.3 +/- 0.05 and 5.5 +/- 1.2 nmol/l). Testosterone and androstenedione concentrations were significantly higher in parous pregnant than in parous non-pregnant females (4.3 +/- 1.4 and 1.6 +/- 0.3; and 23.7 +/- 11.6 and 6.7 +/- 0.9 nmol/l respectively). Both LHRH and hCG elicited elevated androgen concentrations in females in different reproductive categories. Androgens are produced by the ovary in the absence of follicular or luteal structures, indicating androgen production by the interstitial tissue of the ovarian stroma.  相似文献

The suggestion that androgens may regulate testosterone (T) production in rat Leydig cells by a receptor-mediated feed-back mechanism, led us to investigate whether in vivo the absence of testicular androgen receptors, as it occurs in testicular feminization (TF), may modify the characteristic testicular response observed in men and prepubertal children after a single dose of hCG. Subjects consist of: 1) six normal men, 2) two adult patients with the complete form of androgen insensitivity syndrome (TF), 3) 12 normal prepubertal boys, 4) one prepubertal boy with the same form of TF. Each subject received i.m. a single dose of hCG 3500 IU/m2 b.s. and blood samples were collected basally and 2, 4, 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours after the hormonal stimulus. Serum levels of T, 17 alpha hydroxyprogesterone (17OHP) and 17 beta estradiol (E2) were measured at each collection time. In normal men a significant increase in T (M +/- SE) was observed at 4 h (758.6 +/- 135 ng/dl, P less than 0.05) and a more significant increase at 48 h (1082 +/- 60.3 ng/dl, P less than 0.001). E2 and 17OHP peaked significantly at 24 h (81.5 +/- 9.6 pg/ml and 460.7 +/- 90.9 ng/dl respectively). This response pattern is characteristic of the testicular desensitization which occurs in normal man after a single hCG dose. The same response pattern has been observed in the two TF adult patients suggesting that human testicular desensitization in vivo does not depend on androgen receptors.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

The masculinizing effects of prenatal androgens on human neurobehavioral development are well established. Also, the early postnatal surge of androgens in male infants, or mini-puberty, has been well documented and is known to influence physiological development, including penile growth. However, neurobehavioral effects of androgen exposure during mini-puberty are largely unknown. The main aim of the current study was to evaluate possible neurobehavioral consequences of mini-puberty by relating penile growth in the early postnatal period to subsequent behavior. Using multiple linear regression, we demonstrated that penile growth between birth and three months postnatal, concurrent with mini-puberty, significantly predicted increased masculine/decreased feminine behavior assessed using the Pre-school Activities Inventory (PSAI) in 81 healthy boys at 3 to 4 years of age. When we controlled for other potential influences on masculine/feminine behavior and/or penile growth, including variance in androgen exposure prenatally and body growth postnally, the predictive value of penile growth in the early postnatal period persisted. More specifically, prenatal androgen exposure, reflected in the measurement of anogenital distance (AGD), and early postnatal androgen exposure, reflected in penile growth from birth to 3 months, were significant predictors of increased masculine/decreased feminine behavior, with each accounting for unique variance. Our findings suggest that independent associations of PSAI with AGD at birth and with penile growth during mini-puberty reflect prenatal and early postnatal androgen exposures respectively. Thus, we provide a novel and readily available approach for assessing effects of early androgen exposures, as well as novel evidence that early postnatal aes human neurobehavioral development.  相似文献

An androgen binding protein (ABP), which binds 5alpha-dihydrotestosterone with high affinity (Ka = 0.3 x 10(9) M(-1)), has been demonstrated in testicular and epididymal cytosols of 5 young post pubertal bulls (15-17 months old) of the Montbeliarde dairy breed. Simultaneously, daily sperm production (DSP), semen output and plasma LH and testosterone concentrations (from frequent samplings) were determined. ABP levels were 21 fmoles/mg protein in testis and 59, 22 and 43 fmoles/mg, respectively, in caput, corpus and cauda epididymis. Mean DSP, per gram of testis, was 16.6 x 10(6) spermatozoa, and the mean sperm output was approximately 1.5 x 10(9) spermatozoa per ejaculate. Mean LH and testosterone levels were 1.5 ng/ml and 2.1 ng/ml, respectively. One bull (882) was clearly distinguishable from the others, in showing higher ABP and testosterone levels together with a lower daily sperm production. Results of this study may (1) suggest a physiological role of ABP in sperm epididymal maturation and (2) give a new parameter in the evaluation of individual bulls testicular function.  相似文献

The steroidogenic capacity of young male rats of different ages was studied. Two days prior to sacrifice at 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 days of age, the rats in treatment groups were given intramuscularly either human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) at 20 I.U. twice daily/rat or luteinizing hormone (LH) antiserum (AS) at 0.25 ml twice daily/rat. Either saline or normal sheep serum (NSS) was given to control rats. The serum and testicular testosterone concentrations in the control rats averaged 0.85 +/- 0.03 ng/ml and 1.35 +/- 0.06 ng/mg testicular protein, respectively. At day-15 the serum and testicular testosterone concentrations in the HCG-treated rats had significantly increased to 9.30 +/- 0.85 ng/ml and 11.92 ng/mg of testicular protein, respectively. At the same age, the HCG-induced higher levels of serum and testicular testosterone concentrations were significantly reduced to 2.80 +/- 0.70 ng/ml and 6.02 +/- 1.00 ng/mg protein by concomitant administration of LH/AS and HCG. Our results suggest that the testosterone production in response to HCG stimulation is age-related. It was also determined that neutralization of circulating gonadotropin in LH/AS-treated rats decreased the sensitivity of Leydig cells to gonadotropin stimulation. This in vivo model should provide an excellent opportunity for the investigation of the testicular function in developing young males.  相似文献

In order to investigate the changes in testicular volumes (TV) and salivary testosterone concentrations (ST) in normal male infants aged from birth to one year, TV in 158 and ST in 61 infants were measured cross-sectionally during this period. ST of normal male adolescents in Tanner's public hair stage from P2 to P5 (n = 20) were also measured as the control. To clarify the relationship between remarkable height increase and testosterone (T) during early male infancy, longitudinal follow-up of 10 male infants (4 from birth to 4 months, 6 from birth to 7 months) were also carried out by simultaneous measurement of ST and crown-heel length. Maximum TV (ml) was observed at 1-4 months (1.7 +/- 0.6) (mean +/- SD) and was significantly higher than the values at birth (0.5 +/- 0.1, P less than 0.01) and at 6-12 months of age (1.4 +/- 0.4, P less than 0.01). Maximum St (ng/dl) was also observed at 1-4 months, with the mean value being 3.4 +/- 1.5, which was significantly higher than 1.9 +/- 0.8 at 6-12 months (P less than 0.01). The ST at four month was not significantly different from that at Tanner's pubic hair stage P2. The longitudinal study showed that the rise in ST was concomitant with the maximum increase in crown-heel length at 1-4 months. The fluctuations in ST and height increase were also apparently synchronous during the first year.  相似文献

Plasma testosterone concentrations were determined before and after 6 weeks of human chorionic gonadotropin treatment in 36 prepubertal boys with bilateral or unilateral cryptorchidism. Mean +/- SD basal and post-treatment values (ng/100 ml) in the bilateral group were: treatment successful (n = 14): 32 +/- 19 and 302 +/- 49, treatment unsuccessful (n = 12): 20 +/- 15 and 176 +/- 73. The figures for the unilateral group were: treatment successful (n = 6): 23 +/- 9 and 244 +/- 41, treatment unsuccessful (n = 5): 22 +/- 11 and 264 +/- 102. In the bilateral group significant differences in the T response emerged when successfully treated boys were compared to unsuccessfully treated ones. It is concluded that Leydig cell function may be impaired in some cases of cryptorchidism.  相似文献

Semen characteristics were studied in 6 wild-born chimpanzees with dental ages ranging approximately from 6 to 12 years. The animals formed 2 groups, early pubertal (EP, N = 3, 6-9 years) and late pubertal (LP, N = 3, 11-12 years). Mean body weight, testicular volume and serum androgen concentration were significantly lower in Group EP (32.2 +/- 1.6 kg, 34.0 +/- 7.7 cm3, 2.1 +/- 0.1 ng/ml) than in Group LP (55.7 +/- 5.7 kg, P less than 0.01; 100.5 +/- 11.9 cm3, P less than 0.01; 3.6 +/- 0.7 ng/ml, P less than 0.05). Ejaculates were obtained by masturbation in all subjects. The mean ejaculate volume was lower in Group EP (0.56 +/- 0.20 ml) than in Group LP (3.77 +/- 0.73 ml, P less than 0.01). In Group EP, 2 animals were azoospermic while the third produced semen with means of 57.1 x 10(6) spermatozoa per ml, 20% motility and 40% vitality. These values were low when compared with the mean values of Group LP (376 x 10(6) spermatozoa per ml, 67% motility and 78% vitality). Mean total sperm count was correlated with testicular volume (r = 0.84) and serum androgen concentration (r = 0.96). The mean concentrations of L-carnitine, fructose, citrate and acid phosphatase for the two groups were not significantly different; but, related to the differences in ejaculate volumes, their total amounts in total ejaculate were lower in Group EP than in Group LP. These results suggest that, in chimpanzees, mechanisms of seminal plasma production and ejaculation are functional early in the reproductive life and that the emission of spermatozoa occurs later.  相似文献

Adult male sand rats (Psammomys obesus) were caught in the Béni-Abbès area. The highest testicular contents of androgens (ng/testis) were observed in autumn and in winter (testosterone: 7.6 +/- 1.1; androstenedione: 0.76 +/- 0.11) and the lowest in early summer (June) (testosterone: 1.5 +/- 0.3; androstenedione: 0.20 +/- 0.05). Values had increased by late July. Annual variations of the testosterone metabolic clearance rate (litres/24 h/100 g body wt) were similar to those of testicular androgens; values were high in winter (6.7 +/- 0.7) and lowest in June (3.2 +/- 0.3). The onset of testicular endocrine activity in sand rats was concomitant both with the highest temperatures and the start of reduction in photoperiod; its regression occurred when temperature and photoperiod were increasing.  相似文献

Growth is disturbed by adrenal hypersecretion of androgens or cortisol. Androgen excess in virilizing adrenal tumours causes advanced growth and bone age. In 9 girls with virilizing tumours, mean heights at diagnosis and final heights were 1.23 +/- 0.42 and 1.3 +/- 0.37 SDS respectively. In poorly controlled CAH, excess androgens cause early epiphyseal fusion and adult short stature. Increased growth occurs only after 18 months of age, even in untreated CAH, i.e. hydrocortisone >10 mg/m(2)/day is not generally required and may suppress infantile growth, affecting childhood and adult height. Growth was studied in 19 patients, aged 6.4-17.8 years, with Cushing's disease (CD). At diagnosis, mean height SDS was -1.81 (1.2 to -4.17), 53% < -1.8 SDS, height velocity in 6 was 0.9-3.8 cm/year and mean BMI SDS 2.29 (0.7-5.06). From 1983 to 2001, CD was cured in 18 patients (61%) by transsphenoidal surgery (TSS) alone and 39% by TSS plus pituitary irradiation (RT). In 13 patients, growth hormone (GH) was assessed by ITT/glucagons at 1-108 months after cure. Four had severe GH deficiency (<9 mU/l), 7 subnormal (10-29 mU/l) and 2 normal (>30 mU/l) GH status. Subnormal GH was present in 7 subjects >2 years after TSS or RT cure. In 10 subjects, aged 12.9 +/- 3.4 years, growth after cure was studied for 9.1 +/- 5.0 years. Nine had no catch-up growth in the interval of 0.3-1.1 years after cure (mean HV 5.3 +/- 2.4 cm/year). All these had GH deficiency peak GH 0.5-20.9 mU/l, and received hGH 2.7 mg/m(2)/week, 3 with GnRHa. All 10 showed long-term catch-up growth with mean delta SDS at diagnosis (Ht SDS-target Ht SDS) -1.72 +/- 1.26 improving to -0.83 +/- 1.08 (p = 0.0005) at latest of final Ht. At diagnosis, virilization was present in 82% of 17 patients with CD. Mean SDS values of serum androstenedione, DHEA-S and testosterone were normal, i.e. 0.72 (-2.9 to 3.0), -0.8 (6.0 to 2.2), 0.7 (-7.9 to 9.5) respectively, whereas SHBG was reduced at -2.1 (-5.3 to 1.2), increasing free androgen levels. Bone age (BA) was delayed (mean 1.46 years) in 14/16 patients, suggesting cortisol excess contributed more then androgen effect to skeletal maturation. In conclusion, most paediatric patients with CD had subnormal linear growth with delayed BA. After cure by TSS or pituitary irradiation, GH deficiency was frequent and persisted for many years. Treatment with hGH induced significant long-term catch-up growth leading to reasonable final height.  相似文献

Endogenous testosterone concentrations in rat seminiferous tubules were measured in relation to different stages of the cycle of the seminiferous epithelium. For this purpose, the seminiferous tubules were mechanically separated from the interstitial tissue on a cooled (1 degree C) petri dish under a stereomicroscope without added medium. After recognition of the stages of the cycle by transillumination, the specimens were rapidly transferred by dry forceps into test tubes for testosterone radioimmunoassay. The results of the dry dissection method were compared with measurements on tubules that were kept after separation in phosphate buffered saline (PBS, pH 7.4), in order to reveal the possible leakage of testosterone from the tubules. The maximal concentration of testosterone per unit length of seminiferous tubule was found in stages VII and VIII of the cycle (288 +/- 60 fmol/cm, mean +/- SEM, n = 12), and the minimal in stages IX-XII (219 +/- 57 fmol/cm, P less than 0.01). If the levels were correlated with unit volumes of the seminiferous tubules, identical concentrations of testosterone (521-542 fmol/mm3, approx. 500 nmol/l) were found in the different stages of the cycle. Despite the similarity of testosterone concentrations in the different parts of the seminiferous tubules the local concentrations of biologically active (i.e. free) testosterone may be modulated by extracellular and intracellular androgen binding components.  相似文献

In the present study, we have evaluated the influence of the location of the blood sampling in the spermatic vein on the steroid concentrations observed. Simultaneous blood sampling at two different points of the spermatic vein (iliac level and pampiniform plexus) was perfomed in the same patients during a surgical protocol for varicocelectomy. In order to further evaluate which of the two sampling points is more useful to investigate testicular secretion, we have performed both forms of sampling in 4 volunteers given an HCG stimulation 24 h before the surgical procedure. It was found that levels of testosterone (T) and 17 alpha-hydroxyprogesterone (17-OHP) were higher in the pampiniform plexus (scrotal) than at the iliac sampling point (T scrotal 1,168.343 +/- 142.65 nmol/l, iliac 850.63 +/- 143.411 nmol/l, n = 21, p less than 0.01; 17-OHP scrotal 260.130 +/- 43.14 nmol/l, iliac 164.46 +/- 31.02 nmol/l, n = 17, p less than 0.01). This indicates that spermatic blood collected at the scrotal sampling point has received more blood coming from the testis than the blood collected at the iliac point. We did not observe significant differences in progesterone and delta 4-androstenedione (delta 4) levels between the two samplings. The T/delta 4 ratio was significantly lower in the iliac than in the scrotal sampling (T/delta 4 scrotal 31.420 +/- 6.69; iliac 15.41 +/- 3.84; p less than 0.05). After HCG stimulation, testosterone concentrations were higher in the pampiniform plexus than in the iliac sample. Pituitary and gonadal function during physical exercise in the male rat   总被引:16,自引:0,他引:16  
The effects of training and acute exercise on serum testosterone, luteinizing hormone (LH) and corticosterone levels and on testicular endocrine function in male rats were studied. In the first part of the study, the rats were trained progressively on a treadmill, over 8 weeks. Training did not change the basal levels of serum testosterone, LH and corticosterone, or the testicular concentrations of testosterone and its precursors progesterone and androstenedione. The levels of testicular LH (30.3 +/- 2.6 ng/g wet wt, mean +/- SEM) and lactogen (150 +/- 14 pg/g) receptors were unchanged after training. However, the capacity of testicular interstitial cell suspensions to produce cAMP and testosterone increased by 20-30% during in vitro gonadotropin stimulation. In the second part, the trained and untrained control animals underwent acute exhaustive exercise. Serum testosterone levels decreased by 74 and 42% in trained and untrained rats, respectively (P less than 0.02), and corticosterone rose by 182% in trained and 146% in untrained rats (P less than 0.01), whereas the LH level was unchanged. Testicular levels of testosterone and its precursors decreased, with the exception of unchanged androstenedione, in trained rats; the cAMP concentration was unchanged. In both trained and untrained rats, acute exercise decreased the capacity of interstitial cell suspensions to produce cAMP, whereas there were no consistent effects on testosterone production. Acute exercise had no effect on LH or lactogen receptors in testis tissue. In conclusion, training had no effect on serum or testicular androgen concentrations, but increased Leydig cell capacity to produce testosterone and cAMP. Acute exercise decreased serum and testicular testosterone concentrations without affecting serum LH. A direct inhibitory effect of the increased serum corticosterone level on the hypothalamic-pituitary level and/or testis may be the explanation for this finding.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: No randomized study exists comparing the effects of different modes of androgen substitution on bone mineral density (BMD). METHODS: We performed a prospective, randomized, trial assigning 53 hypogonadal men to the following treatment groups: mesterolone 100 mg p.o. daily, testosterone undecanoate 160 mg p.o. daily, testosterone enanthate 250 mg i.m. every 21 days, or a single subcutaneous implantation of 1,200 mg crystalline testosterone. The BMD was determined by peripheral quantitative computed tomography. RESULTS: At baseline, men with secondary hypogonadism (n = 33) had a lower BMD (-1.52 +/- 0.23 SDS; Z-scores) than men with primary hypogonadism (n = 20, -0.87 +/- 0.23 SDS, p < 0.01). In men with primary hypogonadism, the BMD increased dose dependently (crystalline testosterone +7.0 +/- 1.3%, testosterone enanthate +4.8 +/- 0.2%, testosterone undecanoate +3.4 +/- 2.5%, mesterolone +0.8 +/- 1.6%) after 6 months of therapy. Only secondary hypogonadal men treated with testosterone enanthate experienced an increase of the BMD. CONCLUSIONS: In primary hypogonadal men the BMD responds dose dependently to testosterone substitution, whereas in secondary hypogonadism only testosterone enanthate treatment significantly increased the BMD.  相似文献
