The present study was undertaken to evaluate whether the age of brood stock females of Sparus aurata affects the mobilization of lipids from muscle and liver towards the gonads to aid in oocyte development. Taking into account the role some hormones play in lipid mobilization the production of 17beta-estradiol (E2) and testosterone (T) was also measured throughout the spawning season. Four groups of fish were established consisting of 3-, 4-, 5- and 6-year-old females (1.3, 1.5, 2.3 and 2.8 kg average weight, respectively), maintained in separate tanks together with a number of two-year-old males. The results for all four groups showed no variations in fish total length between the beginning and end of the experimental period. However, losses were recorded both of body weight and condition factor. In general terms, there were no significant differences in the plasma levels of E2, T and the gonadosomatic (GSI) and hepatosomatic (HSI) index among the four groups throughout the spawning season. In all groups, the plasma levels of E2, T, GSI and HSI were at their lowest at the end of spawning. Between December (pre-spawning) and March (mid-spawning), all groups suffered depletion of the lipid content of liver and muscle, while gonad lipid content remained constant. The mobilization of lipids from liver and muscle to contribute to the upkeep of the gonadal lipid involved the mobilization of all the fatty acid groups, saturates, monoenes, n-6, n-3, and n-3 HUFA. A good correlation existed between the percentage of the various fatty acid groups transferred from muscle and the age of the reproductive females. However, the greater lipid mobilization from muscle matching the greater age of the reproductive females did not result in greater lipid gonadal reserves or greater body size, suggesting that reproduction on the part of older females requires greater effort. Despite this, the results as a whole indicated that lipogenic capacity, considered as the mobilization of lipids from muscle and liver towards the gonad for the development of oocytes, is unaffected by age in reproductive 3- to 6-year-old gilthead seabream females.  相似文献

Summary Rainbow trout (Salmo gairdneri) were acclimated to either 5 or 20°C, and then transferred to the opposite temperature, and changes in the fatty acid composition of liver microsomal membranes and the activities of the hepatic Δ9, Δ6, and Δ5 desaturases were measured at intervals of up to one month post-transfer. Inital changes (days 0–3) in fatty acid composition were: (1) an increase in the proportion of saturates and a decrease in the proportion of polyunsaturates during warm acclimation, and (2) a decrease in the proportion of saturates during cold acclimation. The activity of the Δ6 desaturase approximately doubled immediately following the changes in temperature, but alterations in Δ9 and Δ5 desaturase activities required at least 3 days to occur. The results indicate that desaturase enzymes do not play a major role in the initial adaptation of membrane fatty acid composition to changes in temperature. However, the desaturase enzymes may be involved in the later stages (3–28 days) of the acclimatory process. The proportion of monoenes was well correlated with Δ9 desaturase activity during both transfers, and appeared to be adjusted as required to offset changes in the proportion of polyunsaturates. The changes induced by dietary n-3 fatty acids (FA) in the lipids and FA of plasma, liver and blood cells, and their reversibility, was studied in mice given a diet containing 9% fish oil (FO) for 2 weeks and then returned to, and kept for another 2 weeks on, the usual standard lab chow diet. In plasma, the concentrations of phospholipids (PL), mostly phosphatidylcholine (PC), triacylglycerols (TG), cholesterol and cholesterol esters (CE) decreased rapidly after starting the FO diet, and remained low from day 3 onwards. This decrease was concomitant with a remarkable reduction in the n-6 FA, especially 18:2n-6, not compensated for by the relative enrichment in n-3 FA induced by FO. In liver, TG and CE decreased and PL slightly increased, all of them showing reduced n-6/n-3 ratios. Sphingomyelin, which lacks polyunsaturated FA other than small amounts of 18:2 and 24:2n-6, showed altered ratios between its very long chain monoenes and saturates. In the washout phase, the most rapid event was an immediate increase in 18:2n-6 and after a few days in 20:4n-6 in plasma and liver, where most of the lipid and FA changes were reversed completely in about 10 days. In the case of blood cells even 2 weeks were insufficient for a reversal to the initial n-6/n-3 ratios. The lipid class responsible for this lack of reversibility was phosphatidylethanolamine, PC having returned to the initial fatty acid composition during the stated period.  相似文献

Juvenile Arctic charr, Salvelinus alpinus , subjected to either food deprivation or restricted feeding showed reductions in relative sizes of both liver and viscera. With food deprivation, percentage lipid decreased and percentage water increased in the eviscerated carcass, which is in agreement with findings for several other fish species. Following transfer from a restricted to a satiation feeding regime, the relative sizes of both liver and viscera increased to levels exceeding those of fish fed continuously to satiation. At the end of the experiment the percentage liver lipid content of restricted-satiation fed fish was higher than in fish fed to satiation. These differences in energy deposition patterns were, however, not sufficiently large to produce marked differences at the whole animal level, since whole body lipid energy: protein energy ratios and energy utilization efficiencies were similar for restricted-satiation and satiation fed fish.  相似文献

In female sea bream Sparus aurata fed a control diet (C), ovarian levels of neutral lipids (NL) and polar lipids (PL) remained constant between November and March, while a decrease in NL content was observed in liver and muscle. In the same period, liver PL content increased, while no changes were observed in muscle. Between March and June ovarian NL and PL showed a strong decrease, while NL remained constant in liver and muscle. When fish were fed a diet lacking in n-3 highly unsaturated fatty acids, n-3 HUFA (D), the pattern observed was similar to that found in the fish fed diet C, with the exception of liver NL, which increased between March and June. In general, the changes in fatty acid content, in both groups of fish, were highly influenced by the diet given to the broodstock, although these effects were greater on ovarian NL and PL than on liver and muscle lipids. Despite the fact that gilthead seabream females continue feeding during the spawning season, they probably make use of their liver and muscle reserves during the gonadal maturation process. Furthermore, the fatty acid composition of the broodstock diet was reflected in the body composition, especially in the ovaries.  相似文献

Seasonal variations of lipid fatty acids of boreal freshwater fish species   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
1. The fatty acid levels of muscle and liver lipids of perch, vendace and rainbow trout (Salmo gairdneri) cultivated in the same area (for comparison) were monitored. 2. The total lipid content in the muscle of perch (Perca fluviatilis) and vendace (Coregonus albula) was less than 50% of that in rainbow trout and a seasonal variation was clear only in vendace. 3. The relative amounts of polyunsaturated fatty acids as well as omega-3 acids were higher in vendace and perch than in cultivated rainbow trouts. Arachidonic acid content was much higher in vendace and perch than in rainbow trout. The content of monoenes was considerably higher in rainbow trout than in free freshwater fish. 4. The seasonal variations in the degree of unsaturation were small in fish muscle. 5. In the muscle of rainbow trout the relative amount of polyunsaturated fatty acids diminished with the increase of total lipids.  相似文献

Three groups of five indigenous male goats 5–6 months of age, were offered control concentrate mixture (Group I) and those of Groups II and III were fed experimental concentrates containing 15 and 25% of water washed neem (Azadirachta indica) seed kernel cake (NKC). After 180 days of feeding the goats were slaughtered. Longissimus dorsi (LD) muscle from lumbar region was analysed for certain physico-chemical characteristics, organoleptic quality, detailed lipid profile and fatty acid composition; phosopholipids were fractionated into phosphatidyl inositide (PI), phosphatidyl serine (PS), lysophosphatidyl choline (LPC), lysophosphatidyl ethanolamine (LPE), sphingomyelin (SPH), phosphatidyl choline (PC) phosphatidyl ethanolamine (PE) and phosphatidic acid (PA). Fatty acids; capric, lauric, myristic, myristoleic, palmitic, palmitoleic, heptadecanoic, stearic, oleic, linoleic acid were also identified. Feeding of NKC did not affect slaughter weight and dressing out yield. The dressing percentage ranged between 42.2 and 43.8%. The pH, colour, moisture, total crude protein, different protein fractions; water extractable, salt extractable and content of NPN did not differ among the groups. There was a significant decrease in the total lipid content of LD of experimental groups. PC and PE were the major fractions accounting for 60% of total phospholipids. There was a significant increase in PC and LPC fractions while LPE+SPH, PE and PA fractions decreased in goats fed NKC. A significant increase was noticed in unsaturated fatty acid content and decrease in total saturates. It is concluded that NKC feeding has the ability of reducing lipid content and increasing the unsaturated fatty acids, which are considered to be beneficial in reducing the cholesterol level. It may be used beneficially as an alternative for costly conventional oil cakes for economic lean chevon production without affecting the quality of goat meat.  相似文献

Dietary conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) affects fat deposition and lipid metabolism in mammals, including livestock. To determine CLA effects in Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar), a major farmed fish species, fish were fed for 12 weeks on diets containing fish oil or fish oil with 2% and 4% CLA supplementation. Fatty acid composition of the tissues showed deposition of CLA with accumulation being 2 to 3 fold higher in muscle than in liver. CLA had no effect on feed conversion efficiency or growth of the fish but there was a decreased lipid content and increased protein content after 4% CLA feeding. Thus, the protein:lipid ratio in whole fish was increased in fish fed 4% CLA and triacylglycerol in liver was decreased. Liver beta-oxidation was increased whilst both red muscle beta-oxidation capacity and CPT1 activity was decreased by dietary CLA. Liver highly unsaturated fatty acid (HUFA) biosynthetic capacity was increased and the relative proportion of liver HUFA was marginally increased in salmon fed CLA. CLA had no effect on fatty acid Delta6 desaturase mRNA expression, but fatty acid elongase mRNA was increased in liver and intestine. In addition, the relative compositions of unsaturated and monounsaturated fatty acids changed after CLA feeding. CLA had no effect on PPARalpha or PPARgamma expression in liver or intestine, although PPARbeta2A expression was reduced in liver at 4% CLA feeding. CLA did not affect hepatic malic enzyme activity. Thus, overall, the effect of dietary CLA was to increase beta-oxidation in liver, to reduce levels of total body lipid and liver triacylglycerol, and to affect liver fatty acid composition, with increased elongase expression and HUFA biosynthetic capacity.  相似文献

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is the most prevalent behavioral disorder in children and the pathophysiology remains obscure. In addition to the pharmacotherapy, which is the primary treatment of ADHD, nutritional intervention may have a significant impact on ADHD symptoms. We studied lipid and lipoprotein profiles, fatty acid (FA) composition, and oxidant-antioxidant status in 37 pediatric ADHD patients and 35 healthy control subjects. Our results show that plasma triacylglycerols and phospholipids were lower, whereas free cholesterol, HDL, and apolipoprotein A-I were higher in ADHD patients compared with controls. The proportion of plasma EPA and DHA was higher, but that of oleic and alpha-linolenic (ALA) acids was lower. As expected from these findings, the proportions of both total saturates and polyunsaturates fatty acids (PUFA) were higher and lower, respectively, in ADHD patients than in controls, which led to a significant decrease in the PUFAs/saturates ratio. On the other hand, the ratios of eicosatrienoic acid to arachidonic acid and of palmitoleic acid to linoleic acid, established indexes of essential fatty acid (EFA) status remained unchanged revealing that EFA did not affect ADHD patients. Similarly, the activity of delta-6 desaturase, estimated by the ratio of 18:2(n-6)/20:4(n-6), was found unaffected, whereas ALA/EPA was diminished. Lessened lipid peroxidation was noted in ADHD subjects as documented by the diminished values of plasma malondialdehyde accompanied by increased concentrations of gamma-tocopherol. In conclusions, significant changes occur in the lipid and lipoprotein profiles, as well as in the oxidant-antioxidant status of ADHD patients, however, the FA distribution does not reflect n-3 FA deficiency.  相似文献

Total lipids (TL), lipid classes, and their associated fatty acids from muscle and liver of captive and wild mature female broodstocks were investigated in order to estimate the fatty acid requirements of white seabream (Diplodus sargus). The results showed that the percentage of triacylglycerol was higher in liver and muscle of captive fish than in wild fish. The distribution of phospholipid classes in liver and muscle of both fish groups was similar, phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylethanolamine and phosphatidylinositol being the predominant lipid classes. The general pattern of fatty acid distribution in total lipid of liver and muscle from captive and wild fish was similar. However, the relative percentage of specific fatty acids differed in captive and wild fish. The most noteworthy difference was the lower proportion of arachidonic acid (20:4n-6, AA) and the higher proportion of eicosapentaenoic acid (20:5n-3, EPA) in liver and muscle of captive fish with respect to those of wild fish. The proportion of docosahexaenoic acid (22:6n-3, DHA) did not differ between the two fish groups. The differences in EPA and AA proportions between captive and wild fish implied that captive fish presented a higher EPA/AA ratio and a lower DHA/EPA ratio than wild fish. In general terms, in both liver and muscle, the differences in fatty acid composition observed for TL were extended to all lipid classes. The results suggest that the different AA, EPA and DHA proportions in liver and muscle between captive and wild broodstocks are attributed to different levels of these fatty acids in broodstock diets.  相似文献

The lipid and fatty acid content of the gonads, liver and muscle of wild white seabream males and females was studied at different stages of the reproductive cycle. Samples were taken from mature white seabream at pre-spawning (November), mid-spawning (March) and post-spawning (June) stages. The results showed that lipid accumulates in gonads and muscle from November to March. The gonadosomatic index (GSI) was also increased during this period. Male gonads showed a greater increase in polar lipid (PL) than neutral (NL), while female gonads displayed the reverse. The increase in both neutral and polar lipid was higher in the muscle of males than in females. In the same period, male livers showed no changes either in lipid content or the hepatosomatic index (HSI), while female livers registered an increase in both lipid content and HSI. Between March and June, in both males and females, total, neutral and polar lipid decreased sharply in the gonads and muscle. Muscular lipid content reduction was more pronounced in males than females. On the other hand, the lipid content of the liver in males and females remained relatively constant. In general terms, the amounts of major fatty acids (16:0, 18:1n-9, 20:5n-3 and 22:6n-3) in gonadal and muscular polar and neutral lipid in both males and females increased from November to March and declined thereafter. Variations of the liver fatty acid content were less extreme. In the period from mid-spawning to post-spawning, the presence of 20:4n-6 in polar and neutral lipid increased to a notable extent in all organs studied.  相似文献

The effects of age (from 1 day post-hatch to 98 days of age) and feeding levels (feed restriction followed by overfeeding v. ad libitum feeding) on lipid deposition in breast muscle (quantity and quality, localisation) of mule ducks were determined in relation to muscle energy metabolism (glycolytic and oxidative), plasma levels of lipids, glucose and insulin, and muscle capacity for lipid uptake (characterised by lipoprotein lipase (LPL) activity). Two periods were defined for age effects on intramuscular lipids in breast muscle: − 1 to 42 days of age when lipids (mainly phospholipids and cholesterol provided by egg yolk) stored in the adipocytes during embryonic life were transferred to the muscle fibres and used for growth and energy requirements, − 42 to 98 days of age when the muscle again stored lipids (mainly triglycerides provided by liver lipogenesis), first in fibres and then in adipocytes.Plasma glucose and insulin levels were not affected by age. Plasma levels of lipids and LPL activity in breast muscle were high at 1 and 14 days of age and then decreased, remaining stable until 98 days of age. Energy metabolism activity in the breast muscle (mainly glycolytic activity) increased with age.Feed restriction, corresponding to 79% of ad libitum intake, applied between 42 and 75 days of age only resulted in decreases in plasma insulin concentration and total lipid content of breast muscle, mainly affecting triglyceride and mono-unsaturated fatty acid (MUFA) levels. Overfeeding increased plasma levels of insulin and lipids while glycaemia remained stable. LPL activity and total lipid levels increased in breast muscle, mainly induced by deposition of triglycerides and MUFA occurring particularly during the 2nd week of this period. Glycolytic energy metabolism decreased. In response to age or feeding levels, muscle lipid levels and composition reflect plasma lipid levels and composition and high muscle lipid levels stimulate oxidative energy metabolism.  相似文献

—Essential fatty acid (EFA) deficiency initiated in rats prior to birth and continued for one year affects brain lipids to an extent which differs in the two sexes. It was found that: (1) Brain weight and lipid content were decreased in deficient conditions, especially in males. (2) Total phospholipids were present in lower concentrations, particularly in the deficient male brain, while the percentage of the major phospholipid classes-ethanolamine phosphoglyceride (EPG), choline phosphoglyceride (CPG) and serine phosphoglyceride (SPG) did not change. (3) Brain EPG, CPG and SPG had distinctive fatty acid patterns differing greatly in polyunsaturation content. PE acids of control females had elevated monoenes and reduced saturates in comparison with control males. This sex difference was lost in the deficient animals. (4) Polyunsaturated fatty acids of EPG, CPG and SPG were markedly changed in animals lacking dietary linoleic acid. Trienoic (C20 and C22) and docosapentaenoic acids were greatly increased, whereas arachidonic, docosatetraenoic and docosahexaenoic acids were much decreased. (5) In spite of the changes in fatty acid composition each of the three phospholipid classes maintained its particular level of unsaturation during EFA deficiency. (6) EPG aldehydes did not change appreciably in deficient conditions.  相似文献

1. Lipid extracts were obtained from castor-bean endosperm tissue at various times during germination and, after purification, the total lipid content was determined. Quantitative measurements of the triglyceride and phospholipid content together with the fatty acid composition were made. 2. The total lipid content of the endosperm rapidly decreased during germination; after 10 days less than 20% of the original weight of lipid remained. In contrast, the phospholipid content (initially less than 0.5% of the total lipid) increased slightly during this time. The fatty acid composition and the relative proportions of the triglyceride species of the total lipid extract remained constant during 10 days of germination. 3. Gibberellic acid (0.3 mM) markedly stimulated the rate of lipid breakdown but did not alter either the fatty acid composition or the relative proportion of triglyceride species. 4. The embryo had little effect on lipid metabolism in the endosperm tissue; only after 6 days of germination were differences observed in the rate of fat utilization in the presence and absence of the embryo.  相似文献

The composition of phospholipids from electric organ and from membranes enriched in acetylcholine receptors (AChRs) is analyzed in three elasmobranch fish (Torpedo marmorata, Torpedo californica, and Discopyge tschudii). Irrespective of their purity, AChR-containing membranes are similar to electric organ in lipid and fatty acid composition. The following characteristics are common to the three species: (a) Choline, ethanolamine, and serine glycerophospholipids account for 80-90% of the phospholipids. (b) Their major fatty acid constituents are monoenes, saturates, and long-chain (n-3) polyenes (especially docosahexaenoate). (c) A large proportion of the ethanolamine glycerophospholipids (30-50%) is made up by plasmenylethanolamine, which contains fewer polyenes than phosphatidylethanolamine per mole of lipid. (d) Polyphosphoinositides represent 20-30% of the inositides of electric organ. (e) Phosphatidylinositol and phosphatidate have large proportions of 20- and 22-carbon polyenes. (f) Diphosphatidylglycerol and triacylglycerols are rich in oleate but also contain long-chain polyenes. (g) Sphingomyelin has monoenes and saturates ranging from 14 to 26 carbons. Species-related variations are observed (a) in the ratios between some phospholipid classes and subclasses and (b) in the relative abundance of the major polyunsaturated acyl chains of phospholipids. Despite these differences, the average unsaturation and length of fatty acids in major phospholipid classes are similar for the three species.  相似文献

Triplicate groups of 30 channel catfish Ictalurus punctatus (initial weight: 76.13 ± 0.78 g) were stocked in indoor flow‐through fiberglass tanks and starved for 80 days. Body weight, morphometric parameters, body composition, amino acid and fatty acid changes in muscle and liver tissues were investigated to determine the effect of long‐term starvation on body weight and body composition of juvenile channel catfish. During the starvation period, body weight, condition factor (CF), viscerosomatic index (VSI), hepatosomatic index (HSI) and intraperitoneal fat ratio (IPR) declined (P < 0.05). In the whole body, both protein and lipid decreased while changes in the amount of fat were relatively rapid. Hepatic lipid and carbohydrate contents declined as starvation progressed, but crude protein and moisture contents increased (P < 0.05). In contrast, muscle crude protein showed a greater decline than did muscle lipids, and muscle glycogen remained relatively constant. During the 80‐day starvation period the ratio of total essential amino acids (EAA) to total non‐essential amino acids (NEAA) in muscle and liver (P < 0.05) increased. In muscle tissue, total mono‐unsaturated fatty acids (MUFA) and n‐6 fatty acids decreased, but total saturated fatty acids (SFA) and n‐3 fatty acids, as well as the ratio of n‐3 to n‐6 fatty acids increased (P < 0.05). However, in the liver, starvation resulted in the relative increase of total MUFA and reduction in n‐3 fatty acid contents as well as the ratio of n‐3 to n‐6 fatty acids (P < 0.05). Based on these observations, lipids and glycogen can be considered as more important sources of catabolizable energy in liver, whereas protein might be preferentially mobilized in muscle; lipids played a more important role as energy reserves on a relative basis in the whole body. Channel catfish preferentially utilized NEAA to EAA as an energy substrate and preferentially reserved EAA during starvation. Mobilization of fatty acids showed more variation in the muscle and liver during starvation.  相似文献

Adult golden perch Macquaria ambigua were fed to satiety, starved for up to 210 days, or starved for 150 days then fed to satiety for 60 days to investigate the utilization of energy stores in response to food deprivation and re-feeding. Golden perch sequentially mobilize energy from hepatic tissue, extra-hepatic lipid, and finally muscle components in response to food deprivation. The relative size of the liver was significantly reduced by 30 days after the onset of food deprivation due to the simultaneous mobilization of lipid, protein and glycogen reserves. These stores were renewed rapidly within 30 days by satiety feeding. Mobilization of lipid stores in perivisceral fat bodies occurred between 30 and 60 days of food deprivation. These deposits were also renewed upon re-feeding, although not as rapidly as liver reserves. The glycogen content of the epaxial muscle was reduced by the 60th day of food deprivation but subsequently increased indicating the mobilization of other energy reserves. The concentration of muscle lipid decreased after 90 days of food deprivation. The only significant response in body composition observed in the fish fed to satiety throughout the study was an increase in the relative size of the perivisceral fat bodies. The results of this study suggest that golden perch are well adapted to cope with extended periods of food deprivation, storing energy as perivisceral fat when food is readily available and having a clearly sequential process for mobilizing energy when food is scarce which largely protects the integrity of the musculature.  相似文献

We combined genetic selection and dietary treatment to produce a model to study metabolic pathways involved in genetic and nutritional control of fat deposition in fish muscle. Two experimental lines of rainbow trout, selected for a lean (L) or fat (F) muscle, were fed with diets containing either 10 or 23% lipids from the first feeding, up to 6 mo. At the end of the feeding trial, trout were distinguished by very different muscle fat content (from 4.2 to 10% wet weight), and line x diet interactions were observed for parameters related to fat storage. We analyzed the activity and gene expression of key enzymes involved in lipid metabolism (fatty acid synthase, hydroxyacyl-CoA dehydrogenase, carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1 isoforms, and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha) and glycolysis (hexokinase 1 and pyruvate kinase) as well as energy production (isocitrate dehydrogenase, citrate synthase, and cytochrome oxidase) in the liver and the white muscle of rainbow trout. The lipid-rich diet repressed the activity of the lipogenic enzymes and stimulated enzymes involved in fatty acid oxidation and glycolysis in liver but had little effect on muscle enzymes assessed in this study. Regarding the selection effect, enzyme activity and expression suggest that compared with the L line, the F line presented reduced hepatic fatty acid oxidation as well as reduced mitochondrial oxidative capacities and enhanced glucose utilization in both liver and muscle. Very few line x diet interactions were found, suggesting that the two factors (i.e., dietary energy content and selection) used in this study to modify muscle lipid content exerted some additive but mostly independent effects on these metabolic actors.  相似文献

The study considered two major aims: (a) to measure the changes in quality parameters, lipid composition and antioxidant activity occurring in turkey spermatozoa during liquid storage; (b) to determine if the enrichment of sperm in n-3 fatty acids and alpha-tocopherol affect sperm survival during storage. Turkey breeders were fed a control diet or an Omega3 diet enriched with fish oil and alpha-tocopheryl-acetate. Ejaculates were pooled (5ejaculates/pool; 4pools/treatment) and stored in vitro for 48h at 4 degrees C. Viability, motility, susceptibility to induced peroxidation and alpha-tocopherol content were measured in spermatozoa; lipid and phospholipid fatty acid composition were measured in spermatozoa and seminal plasma. The proportion of motile and viable spermatozoa significantly decreased, and the proportion of dead spermatozoa significantly increased. The susceptibility of turkey spermatozoa to induced peroxidation also significantly increased during storage. The enrichment of turkey spermatozoa with n-3 long chain PUFA and vitamin E by dietary treatment did not prevent the negative effect of storage on sperm quality and sensitivity to induced in vitro peroxidation; however, it was efficient in partially prevent the increase of sperm death, therefore the proportion of dead spermatozoa was higher in control (37.4%) compared to treated spermatozoa (31.7%) after 48h liquid storage. Major changes were recorded in the lipid composition of turkey spermatozoa during liquid storage in both experimental dietary groups, whereas no significant changes were measured in seminal plasma. In spermatozoa, a great loss in the phospholipid and free cholesterol content was measured. Moreover, the loss in total sperm phospholipid was associated to a peculiar and selective decrease in the bounded fatty acids: saturates and monounsaturates were greatly reduced and polyunsaturates did not change. As a consequence, the polyunsaturated to saturated fatty acid ratio increased during 48h liquid storage. The observed changes in the lipid and phospholipid-bound fatty acid composition of turkey spermatozoa occurring during liquid storage might be related to different events and have been discussed.  相似文献

Bovine growth hormone (GH) given daily to rainbow trout, Sulmo gairdneri for 4 or 7 days at either 10.00 or 14.00 hours, significantly increased plasma free fatty acid (FFA) levels but had not effect on plasma cholesterol levels. Liver lipid content of the GH-injected trout after seven injections was significantly lower than comparable controls in groups injected at both 10.00 and 14.00 hours. There were no apparent effects of GH on carcass or muscle lipid content although in fish injected and sampled at 14.00 hours there was a significant correlation between the number of injections and carcass lipid content.
Changes in hepatosomatic index (HSI), liver, muscle and carcass lipid content, plasma FFA and cholesterol concentrations and somatotrop activity during food-deprivation for up to 60 days are described. Despite significant decreases in liver and muscle lipid content and increases in plasma FFA levels in food-deprived fish, there was no concomitant change in apparent somatotrop activity.
The data are interpreted to indicate that although exogenous GH, in the doses used here, appears to stimulate mobilization of lipid reserves, particularly from the liver, there is no evidence that enforced changes in lipid reserves elicits a response of the endogenous somatotrop cells.  相似文献
