Early floral development with focus on the androecium was studied with the help of scanning electron microscopy and serial microtome sectioning in Fouquieria columnaris and F. splendens. Perianth organs appear in a spiral pattern on the floral apex. The spiral may be a clockwise or anti-clockwise. The androecium is best interpreted as two-whorled with all the stamens arranged in a single series. In F. splendens, two or more of the five epipetalous stamen positions are doubled, i.e. they are occupied by stamen pairs. Unusual features in the floral development of Fouquieriaceae include (1) a strong spiral component even in whorled organ categories and (2) a pronouncedly asymmetric floral apex during an early phase of floral development. From a phylogenetic point of view, it seems plausible that the common ancestor of Fouquieriaceae and its sister family Polemoniaceae was characterized by two alternating, pentamerous stamen-whorls.  相似文献

This is a combination of review and original data on floral structure and diversity in the two earliest diverging lineages of the Ericales, i.e. the balsaminoids, comprising Balsaminaceae, Marcgraviaceae and Tetrameristaceae, and the polemonioids, comprising Fouquieriaceae and Polemoniaceae. Each clade is strongly supported in molecular studies, while structural synapomorphies have largely been lacking. For the balsaminoid families, we compare floral morphology, anatomy and histology among selected taxa and find that the entire clade is strongly supported by the shared presence of nectariferous tissue in the floral periphery, thread-like structures on anthers, truncate stigmas, secretion in the ovary, as well as mucilage cells, raphides and tannins in floral tissues. A possible sister group relationship between Balsaminaceae and Tetrameristaceae is supported by the shared presence of post-genital fusion of filaments and ovary and a star-shaped stylar canal. For polemonioids, we document unexpected diversity of floral features in Polemoniaceae, partly providing structural links to Fouquieriaceae. Features include cochlear and quincuncial corolla aestivation, connective protrusions, ventrifixed anthers and nectariferous tissue in the base of the ovary. In addition, we outline future directions for research on floral structure in the Ericales and briefly discuss the general importance of structural studies for our understanding of plant phylogeny and evolution.  相似文献

Molecular sequence data from the 18S-26S rDNA internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region support the monophyly of Fouquieria sensu lato (Fouquieriaceae) and the three subgenera (subg. Fouquieria, subg. Bronnia, subg. Idria) previously recognized within it. Resolution within subg. Fouquieria differs somewhat between parsimony and maximum likelihood (ML) trees. Section Fouquieria and sect. Ocotilla within subg. Fouquieria are not well supported as monophyletic groups. Uncertainty regarding placement of the root within Fouquieriaceae makes discussion of character evolution within the family difficult. Three root positions are consistent with rate-constant evolution of ITS sequences: (1) along the branch to subg. Idria, (2) along the branch to subg. Bronnia, and (3) along the branch to subg. Fouquieria. The first root position listed is equivalent to an outgroup rooting. The third root position listed is equivalent to a midpoint rooting. Of the three root positions above, only the third is along a branch that may be sufficiently long to act as a long-branch attractor. The first two root positions would result in character reconstruction suggesting that succulent growth forms and white floral pigmentation are ancestral within the family, with shifts to woody growth forms and to red floral pigmentation. The third root position results in equivocal reconstruction of the ancestral growth form, equivocal reconstruction of ancestral floral pigmentation in parsimony trees, and a suggestion of white floral pigmentation as ancestral in ML trees. Two previous hypotheses of polyploid origins are compatible with the molecular data presented here: (1) origin of the tetraploid F. diguetii from F. macdougalii, and (2) allopolyploid origin of the hexaploid F. burragei from the tetraploid F. diguetii and a diploid species similar to F. splendens. Direct descent of the hexaploid F. columnaris from the subg. Bronnia lineage is not supported by our data. An amphiploid origin of F. columnaris involving a member of the subg. Bronnia lineage and an extinct taxon outside subg. Bronnia, however, cannot be ruled out.  相似文献

A survey of anthocyanins in axial bulbils and flowers of four Saxifraga species indicates the origin of the endemic Saxifraga svalbardensis to be by hybridization between S. hyperborea and S. cernua. The detection of anthocyanins seems reliable in herbarium material 50 years of age.  相似文献

Phylogenetic interrelationships in the enlarged order Ericales were investigated by jackknife analysis of a combination of DNA sequences from the plastid genes rbcL, ndhF, atpB, and the mitochondrial genes atp1 and matR. Several well-supported groups were identified, but neither a combination of all gene sequences nor any one alone fully resolved the relationships between all major clades in Ericales. All investigated families except Theaceae were found to be monophyletic. Four families, Marcgraviaceae, Balsaminaceae, Pellicieraceae, and Tetrameristaceae form a monophyletic group that is the sister of the remaining families. On the next higher level, Fouquieriaceae and Polemoniaceae form a clade that is sister to the majority of families that form a group with eight supported clades between which the interrelationships are unresolved: Theaceae-Ternstroemioideae with Ficalhoa, Sladenia, and Pentaphylacaceae; Theaceae-Theoideae; Ebenaceae and Lissocarpaceae; Symplocaceae; Maesaceae, Theophrastaceae, Primulaceae, and Myrsinaceae; Styracaceae and Diapensiaceae; Lecythidaceae and Sapotaceae; Actinidiaceae, Roridulaceae, Sarraceniaceae, Clethraceae, Cyrillaceae, and Ericaceae.  相似文献

Analyses of extracts among populations of the 14 species of Collomia revealed the occurrence of 13 mono-, di- and triglycosides based on the flavonoids, acacetin, kaempferol, patuletin and quercetin. The glycosides included those having arabinose, galactose, glucose and rhamnose as mono-, bio- or triosides at the 3-, 5-, 3,7- or 7-position. Analyses of floral extracts from ten species revealed the occurrence of two anthocyanins, cyanidin and delphinidin 3-(p-coumarylglucosyl)-5-glucoside. Nearly all the species express distinctive flavonoid patterns, although the differences are based on relatively minor changes in position or type of glycosidic substitution. Use of the minimum biosynthetic step distance (MBSD), an index of similarity, revealed that a mean of 5.6 steps separated the 14 species. The four perennial species of section Collomiastrum showed a high degree of similarity and differed consistently from species of the two annual sections Courtoisia and Collomia by lacking quercetin-5-glucoside and kaempferol-3-arabinosylgalactoside. In contrast, flavonoid patterns among species within sections Courtoisia and Collomia showed a relatively low degree of similarity. The dissimilarity between C. diversifolia and C. heterophylla (section Courtoisia) is consistent with their divergent patterns of pollen morphology and ecological distribution. Three groups of species within section Collomia were defined generally by shared patterns of flavonoids, which are correlated to some degree with floral, pollen and vegetative morphology.  相似文献

以新疆深棕色棉品系‘棕86’的成熟纤维为材料,用甲醇溶液(VMeOH∶VHCl=99∶1)避光冷浸提取15d后,浓缩成浸膏.用适量蒸馏水溶解浸膏,乙酸乙酯萃取除杂,水相用HP-20大孔树脂纯化色素组分;采用紫外-可见吸收光谱分析,并结合高效液相色谱方法,对天然彩色棉纤维色素组分进行鉴定,为彩色棉花新色彩的分子改良提供参考.结果显示,棕色棉纤维提取液中含有花色苷,且至少含有4种不同的花色苷成分.对棕色棉纤维提取液中花色苷的降解分析显示,棕色棉中的色素物质很不稳定.研究表明,花色苷是棕色棉纤维色素中的一种重要组成成分,进一步补充了彩棉色素的物质基础.  相似文献

Cladistic analyses of chloroplast DNA disagree with current classifications by placingPolemoniaceae near sympetalous families with two staminal whorls, includingFouquieriaceae andDiapensiaceae, rather than near sympetalous families with a single staminal whorl, such asHydrophyllaceae andConvolvulaceae. To explore further the affinities ofPolemoniaceae, we sequenced 18S ribosomal DNA for eight genera ofPolemoniaceae and 31 families representing a broadly definedAsteridae. The distribution of variation in these sequences suggest some sites are hypervariable and multiple hits at these sites have obscured much of the hierarchical structure present in the data. Nevertheless, parsimony, least-squares minimum evolution, and maximum likelihood methods all support a monophyleticPolemoniaceae that is placed nearFouquieriaceae, Diapensiaceae and related ericalean families.  相似文献

本文研究了黑果枸杞花青素化合物结构对其稳定性和细胞抗氧化活性的影响。通过半制备型HPLC分离纯化得到了4种黑果枸杞花青素化合物并鉴定结构,利用比色法评价了化合物的稳定性、细胞毒实验以及H2O2诱导的SH-SY5Y细胞损伤模型评价了细胞抗氧化活性,并讨论了化学结构对其影响。结果表明反式结构比顺式结构在中性和弱碱性条件下有更好的稳定性,反式结构、糖基的增加以及母核B环上的甲氧基取代均可以通过缩短母核与糖链的分子距离从而提高稳定性,糖基的增加能显著地降低损伤细胞中的乳酸脱氢酶水平,且反式结构较顺式结构更有活性优势。综上所述,黑果枸杞花青素的结构影响稳定性和细胞抗氧化活性,但糖基的增加和酰基的反式异构对二者有更积极的意义。  相似文献

Fouquieria splendens ssp. breviflora is a species of the family Fouquieriaceae, growing in arid zones of México, between 700 and 2100 m above sea level (a.s.l). This species characteristically forms leaf buds under conditions of adequate water supply. The physiological response of this species was studied under varying conditions of irrigation in soil and water, using stems collected during two seasons: dry and rainy; evaluating the foliar material produced the quantity of free proline and total protein and anatomical foliar changes in the water conduction systems. This species displayed distinctive adaptive mechanisms involving the development of foliar fascicles, differentiation of vessels with formation of tracheal elements, and, metabolically, a high proline and total protein content in the stems of the dry season, showing that the responses observed in F. splendens spp. breviflora are adaptive physiological responses that take place simultaneously, being evidence of the first mechanisms of response to water-stress conditions. Thus, this species is regarded as a poikilohydric plant, as it is capable of the regulation of its metabolism during bud development when flooding events occur in the species' habitat after a prolonged dry and desiccation period.  相似文献

The investigations reported here focus on an in‐depth characterization of the secondary metabolite profile of Sanguisorba officinalis flowers. For this purpose, fresh flowers were extracted with MeOH/H2O and EtOH/H2O and the resulting crude extracts fractionated using CH2Cl2, AcOEt, and BuOH. Individual compounds were characterized by high performance liquid chromatography and gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometric detection (HPLC‐DAD‐MSn and GC/MS). MeOH/H2O extraction and LC/MSn investigations revealed the occurrence of flavonoid glycosides (quercetin, kaempferol), ellagitannin glycosides and four anthocyanins. Among the latter, two components, i. e., cyanidin‐malonyl‐glucose and cyanidin‐galloyl‐hexose, have not been reported for S. officinalis so far. Furthermore, phenylethylamine was characterized for the first time in Sanguisorba by pH value dependent extraction with CH2Cl2. In addition, AcOEt and BuOH extracts were analyzed by GC/MS both prior to and after acid hydrolysis of secondary metabolites. For this purpose, the extracts were treated with 1 n HCl solution (105 °C, 1 h) and derivatized with BSTFA. Analyses revealed the occurrence of several classes of phenolic compounds, such as gallic acid, hydroxybenzoic acid, hydroxycinnamic acid and ellagic acid derivatives. Additionally, the most prominent ursane‐type triterpenoid (ziyu‐glycoside I) from Sanguisorba and its corresponding aglycone isomers were detected and assigned based on their characteristic fragmentation patterns.  相似文献

Light emission (chemiluminescence; CL) was observed in the reaction of anthocyanins with tert-butyl hydroperoxide (t-BuOOH) in the presence of acetaldehyde. The intensity of the CL of the anthocyanins was in the order of nasunin > rubrobrassicin > delphinidin > malvin = cyanidin > malvidin, indicating that glucosylation at C-3 and C-5 of the anthocyanin skeleton enhances the CL of the parent compound. CL intensity was enhanced at alkaline pH. The results suggest that the antioxidant effect of anthocyanins on lipid peroxidation, which is observed in the linoleic acid-β-carotene-lipoxcygenase system, is at least partly due to their strong reactivity with hydroperoxides.  相似文献

The acylated anthocyanins of Ives grapes have been isolated using column chromatography on polyamide and polyvinylpyrrolidone. Controlled hydrolysis with Dowex 50W-X8 ion exchange resin, KOH. peroxide oxidation and speciroscopic characterization revealed their tructure as the 3-(6-O-p-coumarylglucoside)-5-glucosides of cyanidin, peonidin, delphinidin, petunidin, and malvidin and the 3-(6-O-p-coumary lglucoside)s of delphinidin, petunidin and malvidin. On cellulose TLCs in the five solvent systems used, no clear-cut separation of these pigments could be obtained without their preliminary separation on polyamide and polyvinylpyrrolidone columns.  相似文献

A colorimetric sensor array based on natural pigments was developed to discriminate between various saccharides. Anthocyanins, pH‐sensitive natural pigments, were extracted from fruits and flowers and used as components of the sensor array. Variation in pH, due to the reaction between saccharides and boronic acids, caused obvious colour changes in the natural pigments. Only by observing the difference map with the naked eye could 11 common saccharides be divided into independent individuals. In conjunction with pattern recognition, the sensor array clearly differentiated between sugar and sugar alcohol with highly accuracy and allowed rapid quantification of different concentrations of maltitol and fructose. This sensor array for saccharides is expected to become a promising alternative tool for food monitoring. The link between anthocyanin and saccharide detection opened a new guiding direction for the application of anthocyanins in foods.  相似文献

Fouquieria splendens, a desert plant native to the southwestern United States, was studied to determine the capacity for photosynthesis of green stem tissue. The plant is leafless most of the year because of drought, so the capacity for gas exchange by the stems is essential for their photosynthetic function. With secondary growth, sclerified leaf bases which cover the stem become separated, and a transparent cork forms in the furrows between them. A well-developed chlorenchyma occurs beneath this cork as well as beneath the leaf bases. Chloroplasts of the stem have an unusually high degree of granal stacking, but are mostly typical. Light is transmitted through the leaf base on the young primary shoot and the furrow cork, but not through the older leaf base. Chlorophyll fluorescence studies indicated that the chloroplasts were fully competent and indeed stem tissue is capable of fixing 14CO2 if supplied to cut sections. Despite competent chloroplasts, no exogenous CO2 uptake occurs because the cork is impermeable to CO2, and presumably water. The functional significance of competent chloroplasts in stems that do not transfer gas may be the production of high energy compounds for metabolism, the recycling of internally generated respiratory CO2, or it may simply be a relictual feature in this species of the Fouquieriaceae.  相似文献
