鞭根作为竹子吸收养分和水分的主要器官,其形态结构性状与鞭根对养分斑块的敏感性及养分获取能力紧密相关。该研究选取相邻连续的苦竹(Pleioblastus amarus)纯林和苦竹-杉木(Cunninghamia lanceolata)混交林2种林分类型,将其分为苦竹林中心区、苦竹林界面区、混交林界面区和混交林中心区4种生境,测定4种林区生境的苦竹鞭根形态结构性状指标及生物量,比较其间的连续性变化规律,以明确竹子异质性环境下的生态适应策略。结果表明:(1)不同生境下,纯林界面区的苦竹拥有更高的鞭根节点数、根尖数以及更小的根直径;纯林界面区和混交林界面区的苦竹鞭根比根长、比根面积均显著高于纯林中心区,但两个界面区的苦竹鞭根根直径则表现相反。(2)从苦竹纯林中心区至混交林中心区方向,苦竹鞭根生物量呈逐渐降低的趋势,但苦竹林界面区和混交林界面区间差异不显著。(3)生境对苦竹主要鞭根形态结构性状异速增长速率无明显影响,但显著提高了苦竹林界面区鞭根主要形态结构性状的差异性位移量;不同生境下苦竹鞭根形态结构存在显著差异,苦竹纯林界面区的鞭根形态结构可塑性较强,拥有更高的鞭根活性以及更活跃的生理功能。研究发现,生境对苦竹主要鞭根形态结构性状有显著影响,但对其异速增长速率无明显影响;鞭根直径是苦竹获取资源的重要影响因子,异质生境下苦竹趋向于采取增加鞭根面积和降低鞭根直径的策略以最大化地获取资源。  相似文献

Afrothismia winkleri develops fleshy rhizomes, densely covered with small root tubercles, narrowing to filiform roots with age. The exclusively intracellular mycorrhizal fungus has distinct morphologies in different tissues of the plant. In the filiform root the hyphae grow straight and vesicles are borne on short hyphal stalks. The straight hyphae are present in the epidermis of the root tubercles, but change to loosely coiled and swollen hyphae in the rhizome tissue. No penetration from epidermis to root cortex was found. From the rhizome, a separating cell layer permits only one or rarely two hyphal penetrations into the cortex of each root tubercle. The hyphae proceed apically within the root hypodermis in a spiral row of distinctively coiled hyphae, branches of which colonize the inner root cortex. In the inner root cortex the hyphal coils degenerate to amorphous clumps. In older roots the cortex itself also deteriorates, but epidermis, hypodermis, endodermis and central cylinder persist. The mycorrhizal pattern in A. winkleri is interpreted as an elaborate exploitation system whereby the fungus provides carbon and nutrients to the plant and, simultaneously but spatially distinct, its hyphae are used to translocate and store the matter within the plant. Abstract: Generally, lycophytes are not well represented in Anisian floras. Nonetheless, four different genera, each with one species, have been distinguished in the Anisian flora from Kühwiesenkopf (Monte Prà della Vacca), Italy. They were well preserved and yielded leaf cuticles in all four taxa and in situ spores in two of them. Lycopia dezanchei gen. et sp. nov. is the most common form; it is characterized by a dichotomising creeping prostrate rhizome (representing the primary shoot axis) from which arise aerial axes, apically bifurcated and covered with bundles of long leaves. This taxon cannot be attributed to any of the lycophyte orders, but most resembles Lycopodiales. Two representatives of the Isoetales have been found, of which Isoetites brandneri sp. nov. is abundant. This species is characterized by a short stem, which is unusual for this genus. In situ immature microspores and megaspores were found in some specimens. Lepacyclotes bechstaedtii sp. nov. has a quadrilobe corm with fertile scales inserted in whorls or slightly helicoidally. Short sterile leaves arise distally from the corm in some specimens. Selaginellales are very rare in the flora; Selaginellites leonardii sp. nov. is represented by a strobilus that yielded both micro‐ and megaspores. Some sterile fragments have been found associated, but never in organic connection.  相似文献

The shoot apex of Dennstaedtia cicutaria consists of three zones—a zone of surface initials, a zone of subsurface initials, and a cup-shaped zone that is subdivided into a peripheral region and central region. A diffuse primary thickening meristem, which is continuous with the peripheral region of the cup-shaped zone, gives rise to a broad cortex. The roots occurring on the rhizomes are initiated very near the shoot apex in the outer derivatives of the primary thickening meristem. The roots that occur on the leaf bases also differentiate from cortical cells. Eventually, those cortical cells situated between the newly formed root apical cell and the rhizome procambium (or leaf trace) differentiate into the procambium of the root trace, thus establishing procambial continuity with that of the rhizome or leaf trace. Parenchymatous root gaps are formed in the rhizome stele and leaf traces when a few of their procambial cells located directly above the juncture of the root trace procambium differentiate into parenchyma. As the rhizome procambium or leaf trace continues to elongate, the parenchyma cells of the gap randomly divide and enlarge, thus extending the gap.  相似文献

选择立地条件基本一致的毛竹(Phyllostachys edulis)纯林,分别设置宽度为6 m、8 m、10 m,垂直长度为30 m的样地进行条带式采伐,在采伐带相邻的位置设置相同宽度的保留带,另随机选取3块不进行采伐的常规经营毛竹林作为对照,测定不同宽度带状采伐毛竹竹鞭、鞭根、竹篼和篼根的养分情况,分析毛竹地下构件在不同宽度采伐后的恢复潜力,探寻合理的带状采伐宽度,为毛竹林的科学管理提供理论依据。结果表明:(1)采伐带毛竹地下竹鞭、鞭根和篼根有机碳含量均随采伐带宽的增加先增后降,竹篼有机碳含量则持续上升;3种宽度采伐带篼根、8 m采伐带鞭根和10 m采伐带竹篼有机碳含量均显著高于保留带(P<0.05),8 m采伐带鞭根、3种带宽采伐带竹篼和篼根有机碳含量均与对照差异显著;6 m和10 m采伐带篼根、8 m采伐带鞭根有机碳含量所占地下构件有机碳比例较保留带有大幅提升。(2)3种采伐带宽中竹鞭、鞭根和竹篼全氮含量均表现为8 m>6 m>10 m,篼根全氮含量则随着带宽的增加持续上升;8 m采伐带鞭根和10 m采伐带竹篼与保留带有显著差异,3种带宽鞭根、竹篼和篼根全氮含量均与对照有差异;各构件总氮含量所占比例均基本表现为竹鞭>竹篼>鞭根>篼根,8 m采伐带鞭根和10 m采伐带竹鞭、鞭根、篼根总氮所占比例显著增加。(3)采伐带毛竹竹鞭、竹篼和篼根全磷含量均随带宽的增加呈先增后降的趋势,而鞭根全磷含量持续上升;8 m采伐带竹鞭全磷含量显著高于对照,其竹篼全磷含量显著高于相应保留带和对照;8 m和10 m采伐带均以竹篼全磷含量所占比例最高,6 m采伐带则是竹鞭全磷占比最高。(4)采伐带毛竹地下构件全钾含量均以8 m带宽最高,8 m采伐带的竹篼和篼根全钾含量分别显著高于6 m采伐带17.69%和106.90%,显著高于10 m采伐带102.87%和121.12%;8 m采伐带竹鞭、鞭根和篼根全钾含量均显著高于保留带和对照;随着带宽的增加,全钾含量占比在采伐带竹鞭和竹篼中呈下降趋势,在鞭根中则呈上升趋势,在篼根中则先上升后降低。研究认为,带状采伐处理能促进毛竹地下构件的发育,且8 m采伐带毛竹地下构件对养分的吸收效率显著增加,养分元素含量相对较高,可以为竹林恢复生长提供大量能量和生长潜力,有利于采伐后毛竹林的快速恢复,是较为合理的采伐带宽度。  相似文献

Root morphological adaptation is an important mechanism for wetland plants to adapt to environmental conditions. The objective of this study was to investigate the impact of water depth on biomass allocation and root morphology (including root mean diameter, root length, root surface area and root volume) of a wetland plant species, Juncellus serotinus (Cyperaceae). Four levels of water depth were chosen: 10, 30, 50 and 70 cm. Due to the enormous root system, and for easy observation, five groups were used according to the distance from the rhizome: 0–5, 5–10, 10–15, 15–20 and longer than 20 cm (> 20 cm). Results showed that with increasing water depth plant total biomass and root biomass decreased significantly (p < 0.05), and that biomass was mainly allocated to shoots resulting in decreased root to shoot ratio. Root morphology parameters also changed significantly with increasing water depth (p < 0.05). Root mean diameter in all treatments and all other root morphology parameters decreased with increasing distance from the rhizome, while maximum root length, root surface area and root volume in 10 and 30 cm occurred between 5 and 15 cm from the rhizome. The results indicate that shallow water (less than 30 cm in depth) is favorable for the development of J. serotinus root system, and that root morphological characteristics shift with increasing distance from the rhizome.  相似文献

Summary Flagellated vegetative cells of the colonial golden algaSynura uvella Ehr, were examined using serial sections. The two flagella are nearly parallel as they emerge from a flagellar pit near the apex of the cell. The photoreceptor is restricted to swellings on the flagella in the region where they pass through the apical pore in the scale case and the swellings are not associated with the cell membrane or an eyespot. A unique ring-like structure surrounds the axonemes of both flagella at a level just above the transitional helix. The basal bodies are interconnected by three striated, fibrous bands. Four short (<100 nm) microtubules lie between the basal bodies at their proximal ends. Two rhizoplasts extend down from the basal bodies and separate into numerous fine striated bands which lie over the nucleus. Three- and four-membered microtubular roots arise from the rhizoplasts and extend apically together. As the roots reach the cell anterior, the three-membered root bends and curves clockwise to form a large loop around the flagella; the four-membered root bends anticlockwise and terminates under the distal end of the three-membered root as it completes the loop. There are four absolute orientations, termed Types 1–4, in which the flagellar apparatus can occur. With each orientation type the positions of the Golgi body, nucleus, rhizoplasts, chloroplasts and microtubular roots change with respect to the flagella, basal bodies and photoreceptor. Two new basal bodies appear in pre-division cells, and three short microtubules appear in a dense substance adjacent to each new basal body. Based upon the positions of new pre-division basal bodies, a hypothesis is proposed to explain why there are four orientations and how they are maintained through successive cell divisions.  相似文献

In Dupontia fischeri R. Br. the pattern of translocation of photosynthetically incorporated 14C was established within six hr after treatment in situ at Barrow, Alaska. More radiocarbon went to younger rather than older tillers. The most effective sinks were root, lateral root, and rhizome primordia and nonemergent tillers which were actively growing. Substantial amounts of radiocarbon appeared in the stem base and rhizome of the treated tiller. Although relatively little appeared in other plant parts, except for the sinks mentioned above, interdependence of tillers appeared to be maintained until flowering occurred. This pattern of distribution was established early in the season once the soil thawed, and growth began and was maintained until mid-August. Some translocation to active growth centers occurred even while the soil was thawing. Redistribution of radiocarbon to new root and leaf tissues produced after the time of treatment was observed. There was no autoradiographic evidence during the season to indicate storage of large amounts of mobilizable photosynthate in the stem base or rhizome of a tiller at the time these field studies were carried out.  相似文献

Medium components that may influence the emergence of adventitious root primordia in rhizome buds of Lapageria rosea (Ruiz et Pav.) cv. Nashcourt in vitro were examined. Sucrose was the only medium component tested that affected root emergence. Increasing the sucrose concentration in the medium from 10 to 30 g 1-1 stimulated adventitious root emergence from rhizome buds that had been proliferated on a medium containing the gibberellin biosynthesis inhibitor paclobutrazol (5 M). Successful clonal propagation of L. rosea cv. Nashcourt can now be achieved by a rhizome bud proliferation stage(s) in the presence of paclobutrazol followed by an adventitious root emergence stage in the absence of paclobutrazol.  相似文献

In vitro plant regeneration of Agave fourcroydes Lem. (Agavaceae) is described. Results suggest that the NO3 -:NH4 + balance in the culture medium is a key factor controlling callus growth and organogenesis in rhizome cultures. Stem callus showed limited organogenic capacity, but high cytokinin concentrations induced adventitious shoot formation on stem explants. When these shoots were excised and subcultured, new callus formed at their base from which new shoots arose. The shoots from stem explants and rhizome callus formed extensive root systems in vitro and were transferred to pot culture with a 90% survival rate.  相似文献

Four wetland plant species, Deschampsia cespitosa, Distichlis spicata, Grindelia integrifolia, and Salicornia virginica, were tested to determine the effect of soil moisture on the vertical distribution of roots and rhizomes. In an 8-month greenhouse experiment involving plants grown from seeds and rhizomes the occurrence of more than 65% of the root and rhizome mass in the upper 10 cm of soil was indicative of saturated conditions. Roots and rhizomes were more evenly distributed under field capacity and low moisture conditions. The percent of total root and rhizome biomass in the upper 10 cm of a 35 cm core may be useful in determining whether or not a plant is experiencing saturated soil conditions, a criterion often used for defining wetlands. Limited field studies support the conclusion of the greenhouse study.  相似文献

The vascular system of the rhizome axes of Dennstaedtia cicutaria consists of a solenostele with an amphicribral vascular bundle centrally located in the pith. Each leaf has a single trace which is an amphicribral vascular bundle. At each node of an axis there is a complex consisting of the main axis, leaf base, and a branch axis attached to the basiscopic margin of the leaf base. Numerous roots are present on the rhizomes and the abaxial side of the leaf bases. Parenchymatous gaps occur in the rhizome solenostele and the leaf trace directly above the departure of some of the root traces. These gaps are termed root gaps. In some instances the root gaps are confluent. However, not all of the root traces have an associated root gap. The leaf trace is inserted laterally on the main and branch axes at the node so that the acroscopic leaf trace margin anastomoses with the main axis of the vascular system and the basiscopic margin with that of the branch axis. Two leaf gaps are associated with each leaf trace, one occurring in the main axis solenostele and the other in the branch axis solenostele. The medullary bundle of each axis anastomoses with each leaf trace at its point of attachment to the rhizome solenostele. Thus, the medullary bundle forms a continuous vascular strand from leaf trace to leaf trace in any given rhizome axis.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to determine if and how the two genetically distinct forms, marsh and dune, of Sporobolus virginicus (L.) Kunth. tolerate anaerobic substrates. The treatments in the hydroponic study, conducted in the greenhouse for approximately 6 months, involved growing the marsh and dune forms in aerobic, anaerobic, and alternating aeration treatments. Plants were examined for morphological and physiological responses to the aeration treatments. In response to the continuous anaerobic treatment, the dune form of S. virginicus exhibited increased stolon biomass, but no difference of total biomass or rhizome aerenchyma when compared with the aerobic treatment. In response to alternating aeration, rhizome aerenchyma increased, total biomass decreased, and stolon biomass remained constant. Belowground transport of oxygen enabled the root tissue in all of the aeration treatments to maintain aerobic respiration. The marsh form grown in the alternating aeration treatment had the same total biomass but more rhizome aerenchyma when compared to the aerobic treatment. Growth in the continuous anaerobic treatment resulted in a reduction of total biomass and increased rhizome arenchyma. Marsh form roots did not appear to be respiring anaerobically or producing ethanol or additional malate at the time of harvest; however, root respiration was higher in the anaerobic and alternating treatments. The marsh and dune forms of S. virginicus were able to adjust morphologically or physiologically or to use existing morphological features to tolerate anaerobic substrates. Thus, it appears that the distribution of the two forms of S. virginicus found in coastal sand dunes and in salt marshes is not limited by differences in ability to tolerate waterlogged soils.  相似文献

Saussurea xinjiangensis Y. S. Chen, a new species from Xinjiang, China, is described and illustrated. It was first found during a field expedition by the author in 2014. It belongs to S. subgen. Saussurea sect. Laguranthera because its root and caudex split fibrously and it has numerous capitula in a corymbiform synflorescence. The new species is similar to S. mucronulata in its habit, strongly fibrous rootstock and caudex, sessile linear leaves and capitula shortly pedunculated in a corymbiform synflorescence. However, it differs from S. mucronulata by its usually branched stems (versus usually simple or apically few-branched), lower leaf blade 8–12 cm long and 0.5–1.8 cm wide (versus 3–5 cm long and 0.2–0.5 cm wide), leaves abaxially sparsely arachnoid tomentose (versus densely arachnoid tomentose), phyllary white arachnoid tomentose and green to brown (versus glabrous and blackish purple).  相似文献

The external features of the subterranean organs of coastal Californian Pholisma depressum Greene are described. A dimorphic root system exists. Long, stout roots (pilot roots) serve for vegetative propagation in reaching other host roots. Short, unbranching, more slender roots originating from the pilot roots are haustorial in function. Shoots seem to arise only on pilot roots. Host attachment is achieved through the direct transformation of the apical meristem of haustorial roots into the haustorial organ. The basal part of the shoot is also able to produce roots when near host roots, and may form lateral branch shoots either directly or after new haustorial connections are formed. Both types of roots arise endogenously. The invaded host root undergoes considerable hypertrophy. The intrusive organ itself forms a massive but irregular body. More than one haustorial root may enter even a small host root. Self parasitism may occur but is not common.  相似文献

Seasonal changes and vertical distribution of fine (< 2 mm diameter) and coarse (2-10 mm diameter) root mass of Pinus kesiya and fine root and rhizome mass of herbaceous species, and root production were studied in the 6-, 15- and 23-year old Pinus kesiya forest stands at Shillong, in the Meghalaya state of north-east India. Maximum fine and coarse root mass of P. kesiya, and fine root and rhizome mass of the ground vegetation were recorded during the rainy season. The contribution of the tree fine roots in 0-10 cm soil layer declined from 51% in the 6-year old stand to about 33% in the older stands. The major proportion (63-88%) of herbaceous fine root and rhizome mass was concentrated in this soil layer in all the three stands. The majority (36-57%) of tree coarse roots were present in the 10-20 cm layer in all the stands. The biomass and necromass values in the case of fine roots were more or less equal in a given stand, but the coarse roots had 5 to 9 times more live than the dead mass. The proportion of herbaceous fine root mass to the total fine root mass declined from 54% in the 6-year old stand to 30-32% in the 15- and 23-year old stands. The mean total fine root mass (pine + herbaceous species) decreased from 417 g m–2 in the 6-year old stand to 302 in 15-year and 322 g m–2 in the 23-year old stand. Annual fine root production showed a marked decrease from 1055 g m–2 in the 6-year old stand to 743 g m–2 in the 23-year old stand, but coarse root production increased from 169 g m–2 in the 6-year to 466 g m–2  in the 23-year old stand; the total root production thus remained approximately constant.  相似文献

Chromium pollution of freshwater is hazardous for humans and other organisms, and places a limitation on the use of polluted water sources. Phytoremediation, the use of plants to remove pollutants from the environment, is a cost-effective, environmentally friendly approach for water decontamination. To improve the efficiency of the process, it is essential to increase the current knowledge about Cr accumulation in macrophytes. Plants of Iris pseudacorus L. were treated with Cr(III) at 0.75 mM for 5 weeks to investigate Cr localization by means of transmission electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray analysis. Chromium induced severe ultrastructural alterations in the rhizodermis (cell wall disorganisation, thickening, plasmolysis, and electron-dense inclusions) and rhizome parenchyma (reduced cell size, cell wall detachment, vacuolation, and opaque granules). The highest Cr contents were found in the cell walls of the cortex in the roots and in the cytoplasm and intercellular spaces of the rhizome. The Cr concentration in root tissues was in the order cortex >rhizodermis >stele, whereas in the rhizome, Cr was evenly distributed. It is proposed that root and rhizome have distinct functions in the response of I. pseudacorus to Cr. The rhizodermis limits Cr uptake by means of Si deposition and cell wall thickening. The rhizome cortex generates vacuoles and granules where Cr co-occurs with S, indicating Cr sequestration by metal-binding proteins.  相似文献
