鸡心李(ycopodium cernuum Marsh var.)胚囊发育多数不正常。卵器,极核,反足细胞的数目和在胚囊内的部位有不正常。卵器细胞核,极核,反足细胞核的结构动态有不正常。核物质有穿出现象。受精作用多数不正常。进入胚囊的精子数目、大小、形态、结构有差异。精子有蝌蚪形者,可能有利于主动运动。有单精受精,多精进入卵器或单极核受精。精子染色质有穿出现象。胚囊发育不正常,精子不正常,受精作用不正常,导致败育,果仁腐烂,果实早落。防治方法建议用人工引变,改进遗传性状。  相似文献

Paracoccidioidomycosis is the most frequent endemic mycosis in South America. The infection is more prevalent in rural workers, and recent epidemiologic data suggest that changes in agricultural practices (such as a decrease in coffee plantations and an increase in sugar cane plantations) may result in a reduction in the incidence of infection. After being inhaled, Paracoccidioides brasiliensis usually causes a benign and transient pulmonary infection that may progress to an acute form or, more frequently, reactivate later as a chronic disease. The diagnosis is usually made by direct examination and culture of clinical specimens; serologic tests may be of help, especially antigen detection. The drug of choice for the chronic form is oral itraconazole, whereas patients with more severe forms may be treated with intravenous amphotericin B or sulfamethoxazoletrimethoprim. The newer azole voriconazole is also effective, and it may be a good alternative because it can be given by oral or intravenous route.  相似文献

The kappa coefficient measures chance-corrected agreement between two observers in the dichotomous classification of subjects. The marginal probability of classification by each rater may depend on one or more confounding variables, however. Failure to account for these confounders may lead to inflated estimates of agreement. A multinomial model is used that assumes both raters have the same marginal probability of classification, but this probability may depend on one or more covariates. The model may be fit using software for conditional logistic regression. Additionally, likelihood-based confidence intervals for the parameter representing agreement may be computed. A simple example is discussed to illustrate model-fitting and application of the technique.  相似文献

Minor degrees of pancreatic insufficiency may go unrecognized. There is a paucity of symptoms and physical findings in mild and moderate degrees of insufficiency and in such circumstances laboratory methods are necessary to determine the presence of insufficiency. The clinical picture when insufficiency is well established may be characterized by loss in weight; vague indigestion; voluminous, light-colored, glistening stools in which fat globulets may be seen; changes in the concentration of pancreatic enzymes in the blood indicative of lowered pancreatic function; diminished amounts of pancreatic enzymes in the duodenal juice, and the related poor digestion of fat and protein in the food. Lowered tolerance of carbohydrate, as found in diabetes mellitus, may or may not be present. The location and character of the disease in the pancreas causing the insufficiency may or may not be apparent.  相似文献

Controlled alternate partial root-zone irrigation (CAPRI), also called partial root-zone drying (PRD) in other literature, is a new irrigation technique and may improve the water use efficiency of crop production without significant yield reduction. It involves part of the root system being exposed to drying soil while the remaining part is irrigated normally. The wetted and dried sides of the root system are alternated with a frequency according to soil drying rate and crop water requirement. The irrigation system is developed on the basis of two theoretical backgrounds. (i) Fully irrigated plants usually have widely opened stomata. A small narrowing of the stomatal opening may reduce water loss substantially with little effect on photosynthesis. (ii) Part of the root system in drying soil can respond to the drying by sending a root-sourced signal to the shoots where stomata may be inhibited so that water loss is reduced. In the field, however, the prediction that reduced stomatal opening may reduce water consumption may not materialize because stomatal control only constitutes part of the total transpirational resistance. The boundary resistance from the leaf surface to the outside of the canopy may be so substantial that reduction in stomatal conductance is small and may be partially compensated by the increase in leaf temperature. It is likely that densely populated field crops, such as wheat and maize, may have a different stomatal control over transpiration from that of fruit trees which are more sparsely separated. It was discussed how long the stomata can keep 'partially' closed when a prolonged and repeated 'partial' soil drying is applied and what role the rewatering-stimulated new root growth may play in sensing the repeated soil drying. The physiological and morphological alternation of plants under partial root-zone irrigation may bring more benefits to crops than improved water use efficiency where carbon redistribution among organs is crucial to the determination of the quantity and quality of the products.  相似文献

Toxoplasma gondii is an obligate intracellular parasite which is known to infect one-third of the total world population chronically though it is asymptomatic in immunocompetent patients. However, in an immunocompromised patient or an infected fetus, it may cause devastating effects. The parasite may cross the placenta of an infected pregnant woman and probably infect the fetus congenitally. The severity of the infection depends on the gestational age at which the infection has occurred i.e., if it has occurred in the early phase, the rate of transmission is low but the severity is high if the fetus is infected and if it has occurred in the later phase then transmission rate is higher while the severity would be low. Congenital toxoplasmosis may result in non-specific consequences like abortion, intra-uterine growth restriction, jaundice, hepatosplenomegaly or even intra-uterine death. It may also result in neurological or ocular manifestations like intracranial calcifications, hydrocephalus or retinochoroiditis. The diagnosis may be done by serological screening of anti-Toxoplasma antibodies (IgM and IgG) while PCR of the amniotic fluid or the placenta is the confirmatory test. Acute or chronic infections may be differentiated by IgG avidity tests. The treatment regimens include spiramycin to prevent congenital transmission from an infected mother, pyrimethamine, sulfadoxine and folinic acid to treat the infected fetus, CSF shunting for the treatment of hydrocephalus and a combination of pyrimethamine, azithromycin, and corticosteroids for treating ocular toxoplasmosis.  相似文献

Fusarium moniliforme Sheldon is an economically important pathogen of corn (Zea mays L.) which causes stalk, root and ear rot. Several mycotoxins have also been isolated, identified and implicated in both animal and human toxicoses. The fungus can be disseminated in symptomless corn seed and can also survive in crop residues in the soil. Asymptomatic infection may be related to different corn cultivars, fungal strains, and environmental factors. Symptomatic expression of pathogenicity may vary, but usually the result of such infections is death of the plant. The greatest concern is the asymptomatic infection, since it is in this form that fungal toxins may surreptitiously enter animal and human food chains. F. moniliforme produces both fusaric acid, which is phytotoxic to corn and interferes with seed germination, and plant growth regulators that may affect pathogenicity of the fungus or be associated with the production of mycotoxins. Other metabolites, including fusarin C, moniliformin, and the fumonisins, may or may not be phytotoxic, but are associated with animal and human toxicoses. The control of F. moniliforme in corn is therefore quite important. One potential means to accomplish this reduction is biocontrol by the application of antagonistic rhizobacteria to corn kernels at planting. To be effective the bacteria must be able to colonize the corn root system and be able to prevent root infection by successful competing with F. moniliforme which may be accomplished by siderophore and or antibiotic activity.  相似文献

Sarcoidosis is a multisystem disease that often presents with constitutional symptoms and ocular and skin manifestations. The chest roentgenogram may show no abnormalities or only diffuse interstitial disease. The serum calcium level is uncommonly persistently elevated and responds rapidly to low-dose corticosteroid therapy. The level of 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D is often elevated, and the level of parathyroid hormone is almost always suppressed. Skin manifestations vary considerably and may appear in an unusual fashion. A skin biopsy may often be essential in the diagnosis of sarcoidosis.  相似文献

(1) It is shown in this paper that the infecting organisms in the parodontal sulcus are confined to the surface, but may be forced into the blood and lymph stream by traumatic interference.2. Local and general disturbances may therefore arise both as a result of the absorption of soluble toxic matter from the pocket into the tissues and also as a result of this traumatic introduction of organisms into the blood-stream.3. The effect of toxic absorption on the local tissues is destruction of the attachment of the tooth-pyorrh?a.4. The remote effects of toxic absorption may be a similar destruction of the connective tissue generally-arthritis and fibrositis. The liver and kidney may suffer since they excrete the toxic matter, and other susceptible tissues may also be involved.5. Traumatic bacter?mia may produce local bone necrosis or "dry" socket. Acute suppurative lymphangitis produces the "pyorrh?tic abscess".6. The remote effect of bacter?mia may be to produce osteomyelitis (e.g. of the tibia) or to convert a simple endocarditis into the bacterial type.7. The mechanism of bone absorption and deposition in response to irritation is discussed.8. Methods of eliminating parodontal infection are referred to and the importance of complete elimination is stressed. It is shown to be not incompatible with the conservation of the teeth.  相似文献

Experimental evidence is presented to demonstrate that cytochromes b of the mammalian cytochrome bc1 complex may be rapidly oxidised by a pulse of oxidising equivalents which react with cytochrome c1, even when all cytochrome b is fully reduced before the pulse. The oxidation is sensitive both to antimycin and to myxothiazol. Such behaviour is inconsistent with models in which only the fully oxidised ubiquinone may move between the centres 'o' and 'i' of the complex. It is proposed that the charged semiquinone (Q-) may move between these centres, which may constitute separate reaction domains of a single ubiquinone-binding site. The bearing of this on the mechanism of electron, proton and charge transfer in the complex is discussed.  相似文献

After a community or ecosystem is lost, it may leave behind an ecological memory. The site history, soil properties, spores, seeds, stem fragments, mycorrhizae, species, populations, and other remnants may influence the composition of the replacement community or ecosystem to varying degrees. The remnants may also hold the site to a trajectory that has implications for ecological restoration. This is true in urban situations in particular where repeated disturbance has masked the history of the site. The ecological memory remaining may be insufficient for a site to heal itself; restoration activities are required to direct the future of the site. Conversely, in light of climate change and other rapidly changing environments, the existing ecological memory may be poorly suited to the new conditions and restoration projects need to create new and perhaps novel ecosystems. The loss of ecological memory facilitates the establishment of foreign invasive species. These invasives may eventually create a new stability domain with its own ecological memory and degree of resilience. To be successful, invasive species control must address both internal within patch memory of invasives and external between patch memory. Further research is necessary to document and conserve ecological memory for ecological restoration in response to future ecosystem changes.  相似文献

End-labeled oligonucleotide primers may be used effectively as the source of radiolabel in DNA sequencing by the dideoxy method. The approach is demonstrated with various end-labeled oligonucleotides, including a commercially prepared universal primer and a mixed-sequence probe. Single-stranded (M13) or denatured double-stranded template may be used. The end-labeled primers and their extension products may be stored for weeks. The method is useful for identification of clones isolated by oligonucleotide hybridization and it provides a convenient, economical alternative to the use of alpha-labeled deoxynucleoside triphosphate.  相似文献

The primary radiologic evidence of intra-abdominal hernia is disturbance of normal small intestine arrangement. Loops of intestine are crowded together as if in a bag, giving the appearance of clumping or sacculation. Dilatation and loss of mobility may occur with varying degrees of stasis. Displacement of viscera or pressure deformity may be observed.Studies of the small bowel are necessary to demonstrate these conditions and must be made with the patient in the erect as well as the horizontal position. Repeated studies may be required, and the best time to make them is during an acute attack, as the hernia may be temporarily reduced during a remission.The clinical symptoms are sufficiently characteristic to suggest the diagnosis in most cases. The usual history is of repeated attacks of abdominal pain or discomfort, usually accompanied by distention, varying in periodicity and intensity, with or without nausea or vomiting, and not accompanied by laboratory data or clinical signs indicative of inflammatory disease.Similar or identical clinical and roentgenologic evidence may be produced by torsion of the small bowel or by peritoneal adhesions.The hernia or torsion may reduce spontaneously before or at the time of operation. Therefore, a careful search for abnormal fossae, mesenteric defects or adhesive bands is necessary if herniation or torsion is not found.  相似文献

Chloroplasts may contract under natural conditions and give up water to the rest of the cell, thus indicating changes in metabolism or constitution. Such contractions may be produced experimentally. In Nitella the chloroplasts are ellipsoid bodies which, under natural conditions, may contract to spheres with a loss of volume. This may be brought about by lead acetate, ferric chloride, and digitonin: the contraction may occur while the cell is alive. The contraction in lead acetate is reversible (in lead nitrate little or no contraction occurs). In Spirogyra the chloroplast is a long, spirally coiled ribbon which may contract under natural conditions to a short nearly straight rod with a loss of volume. The use of serial sectioning followed by tridimensional reconstruction is a convenient way to study the spatial morphology of any structure (cell or organelle). This method was applied to the study of organelles of Plasmodium falciparum (FCR3) and enabled clarification of morphological features of the mitochondrion. The mitochondrion is polymorphic; in single sections it may be rounded, elongated or branched in shape. Its matrix may be dense or transparent, and it may or may not possess cristae. The 3-D reconstruction indicated that the mitochondrion is single in P. falciparum. Its form varies according to the age of the trophozoite. It becomes branched, and each lobe of the mitochondrion follows a daughter nucleus during the formation of merozoites.  相似文献

Summary An inherited modification of the dermal pigmentation of the Syrian hamster is described. The distribution of this pigmentation is variable in the normal hamster, especially that in the region of the genitalia of the male. However, the variation described here surpasses in extent this usual variability and, in particular, either partially or completely removes pigment from the ear pinna. This part was chosen as representative of the modification in general. The inheritance may be monogenic, with considerable impenetrance or, as may be more probable, may be polygenic. Reactive oxygen species may be generated by several inflammatory cells which participate in airway inflammation and their production may be increased in asthma. Oxygen metabolites may contribute to the epithelial damage which is characteristic of asthmatic airways and may activate cells such as mast cells in the airway mucosa. Reactive oxygen species may cause bronchoconstriction, mucus secretion, have effects on airway vasculature, and may increase airway responsiveness. The role of reactive oxygen species in airway disease has been largely neglected, but appears to be an important area for future study. It is also possible that antioxidant defenses may be defective in asthma. If reactive oxygen species participate in the inflammatory response in airway disease, then radical scavengers or antioxidants could play a useful role in therapy.  相似文献

The morphology of differentiated and differentiating cells of the red and white series in Lutjanus herenbergi and in Lutjanus flaviflammus is described. Early stages of red and white blood cells may be found only in smears of hemopoietic organs. Polychromatic erythroblasts, myelocytes and lymphoblasts may also occasionally be found in blood smears. Mature blood cells may be found both in blood smears and in hemopoietic organs. Differential white cell counts seem to demonstrate that the granulocytic series elements are the most common leukocytes in blood smears. Almost all granulocytes may be classified in the first three Arneth classes. An analysis of hemopoietic organs in these species was also performed. It was found that the only organs carrying on a hemopoietic function are the kidney and the spleen. The kidney is essentially a site of granulocytic differentiation while the spleen is a lymphopoietic organ. An erythropoietic activity may generally be observed in the kidney although weak erythropoietic activity may at times be found in the spleen.  相似文献

The behavior of two pacemaker neurons simulated by leaky integrators and connected reciprocally by synapses was studied. In every case the firing of both neurons phase-locks. The resulting limit cycle may or may not show simultaneous firing of both neurons. When both synapses are excitatory, phase-locking with simultaneous neuronal firing is always present. When one synapse is excitatory and the other inhibitory, phase-locking is also present always, while the neurons may or may not fire simultaneously. For a restricted set of parameters, bistability appears; the initial conditions determine whether or not the limit cycle presents simultaneous firing. When both synapses are inhibitory, the system phase-locks without simultaneous firing for almost every set of parameters.  相似文献
