Two colonial serpulid worm tubes—Filograna taurica n. sp. and Filograna serialis n. sp.—from the Upper Triassic (Norian) reef boulders occurring in Taurus Mts. (south Turkey) are described. As bafflers, both species of Filograna build microbioherms reaching dimensions of up to 15 cm. Both species were not known either in Turkey or in any other Triassic localities of the Tethyan realm.  相似文献

Echinoid remains from the Triassic of China are described for the first time. The Middle Triassic of Qingyan in Guizhou Province, south-western China, has yielded nine taxa of primary spines; seven of these come from the lower Upper Anisian. Because all of the spines are disarticulated, the material is treated only parataxonomically. 'Cidaris' lineola (Bather) and 'Cidaris' wissmanni (Desor) are species originally described from the alpine Triassic of Europe. 'Cidaris' bangtoupoensis sp. nov., 'Cidaris' wachangpoensis sp. nov., 'Cidaris' venustespinosa sp. nov., 'Cidaris' fangchui sp. nov., 'Cidaris' gu sp. nov., 'Cidaris' mafengpoensis sp. nov. and 'Cidaris' sp. A are so far known only from Qingyan. Palaeoautecological interpretations based on the shapes of the spines fit well with the fact that the echinoids from Qingyan are part of highly diverse fossil associations which represent the remains of communities that lived in a protected, shallow-marine, stable soft-bottom habitat. The rather high diversity of the echinoid spines in terms of the number of both taxa and general types of shape shows that the echinoids, after nearly becoming extinct at the end of the Palaeozoic, began a new phase of adaptive radiation in the Anisian at the latest.  相似文献

滇西兰坪-思茅地块晚三叠世诺利期(Norian)发育一套海相碳酸盐岩沉积(三合洞组)。对巍山三合洞剖面进行了实测与采样, 分离了三合洞组碳酸盐岩中的牙形石, 经鉴定其种属为Epigondolella vialovi, Epigondolella uniformis和Epigondolella aff. triangularis, 时代为早诺利期(Lacian亚期)。通过野外剖面及室内显微薄片观察, 采用微相分析的方法对剖面三合洞组碳酸盐岩的微相类型和沉积环境进行研究, 将巍山三合洞剖面三合洞组沉积归纳为9种微相, 并根据微相特征结合野外宏观特征, 将三合洞剖面划分为3种沉积相类型, 即局限台地相、开阔台地相和台地边缘礁相。在剖面不同层位的碳酸盐岩中发现的热液矿物石榴子石及发黑的牙形石化石(CAI指数约为5), 表明该区曾遭受热液作用的影响, 可能与三合洞组沉积后大陆边缘裂谷下陷或板块拼合引起的热卤水上涌有关。  相似文献

In the Eastern Southern Alps of northern Italy (Carnic Prealps, Friuli region), the shallow-water carbonate platform deposits of the Dolomia Principale Fm. (Norian–Rhaetian, Upper Triassic) show best-preserved platform to basin facies transition. The palaeontological study of an algal-rich level recovered from the platform margin facies (Mt. Pramaggiore) has displayed a very interesting association of Dasycladales. Two new genera (Bystrickyella and Elliottporella) and four new species (Bystrickyella ottii, Elliottporella morelloae, Palaeodasycladus lorigae and Holosporella conradii) have been described. These new data suggest that the Norian represents a period of turnover in the evolutionary history of the green algae community. This stage, placed between two extinctions, end-Ladinian and end-Norian, is here interpreted as a re-organization period of the evolutionary schemes of Dasycladales. The new lineages originated in the Norian developed further and characterized the Early Jurassic scenery. A diverse Late Triassic (Late Norian) gastropod fauna is described from the Mission Creek Limestone of the Wallowa terrane (Idaho, USA). Sample standardization by rarefaction analysis indicates that the fauna is even more diverse than the Late Triassic gastropod fauna from the Pucara Formation (Peru) which represents the most diverse gastropod fauna from South America. The gastropod fauna consists of 66 species; several genera are reported for the first time from North America. A high percentage of the species are highly ornamented and several have distinct siphonal canals. This suggests that the appearance of truly Mesozoic elements among the gastropods began before the Mesozoic Marine Revolution in other clades. The fauna is dominated by high-spired strongly ornamented procerithiids, a group more characteristic for the Jurassic. Comparison of the present fauna and the Iranian Nayband Formation gastropod fauna show that the procerithiids underwent a first global radiation in the Late Triassic. The high number of new species in this fauna suggests that sampling of Late Triassic gastropod faunas is still incomplete and hinders palaeobiogeographic considerations. Previous suggesions that gastropod faunas from the Wallowa and Wrangellia terranes resemble each other and are distinct from those of Alexander, Chulitna, and Farewell terranes are basically corroborated. The gastropod fauna of the Mission Creek Limestone differs considerably from that of the western and central Tethys but shares several taxa with the Late Triassic gastropod fauna of the Pucara Formation in Peru. Thus, the Hispanic corridor was probably not present in the Norian but opened only in the Early Jurassic. The subfamily Andangulariinae is introduced and placed in the Zygopleuridae. The generaSpiniomphalus, Nodoconus, Gudrunella, Blodgettella, Idahospira, andSiphonilda and the subgenusCryptaulax (Wallowax) are introduced. 27 species are erected. Summary A rich and diverse dasycladalean algae association is described from the Upper Triassic succession of Mt. Rotonda (Calabria-Lucania border, Southern Italy). This association consists of:Neoteutloporella rajkae n.sp.,Griphoporella bechst?dti n.sp.,Physoporella zamparelliae n.sp.,Spinaporella andalusica Flügel & Flügel-Kahler, 1984,S.? granadaensis Flügel & Flügel-Kahler, 1984,Chinianella? sp.,Gyroporella sp.,Griphoporella? sp. andPhysoporella aff.leptotheca. Neoteutloporella rajkae n.sp. is characterised by an undulated calcareous skeleton with short acrophore primary laterals bearing a tuft of 4–6 elongate, segmented, trichophore secondary laterals. This species allows to extend back to the Upper Triassic the stratigraphic range of the genusNeoteutloporella, previously known only from Upper Jurassic levels. Griphoporella bechst?dti n.sp. has a cylindrical calcareous skeleton and primary laterals only, consisting of a thin proximal part followed by a swollen portion that pinches out distally and finally opens outward with a cup-like swelling. Physoporella zamparelliae n.sp. is characterised by a calcareous skeleton made by partly welded thin individual sheaths enclosing the laterals. The laterals are piriferous, vertically compressed, roughly triangular both in vertical and in verticillar section. In some specimens they end with a spine-like thin apophysis. This species confirms that the typical Middle Triassic genusPhysoporella survived up into the Norian. The dasycladalean algal association of the Norian of Mt. Rotonda shows some similarities with the algal association found in the Upper Triassic of the Betic Cordillera whereas it is markedly different from the rich association occurring in the Upper Triassic of Sicily and of the Northern Calcareous Alps. This pattern is coupled with a different composition of the platform margin communities: microbial/serpulids bioconstructions in the Upper Triassic of the Calabria-Lucania border and of Alpujarridevs. Dachstein-type reefs in Sicily and the Northern Calcareous Alps. This indicates that the palaeoceanographic and palaeogeographic conditions controlled both the development of the different platform margin and of the different algal assemblages.  相似文献

The Pha Kan Formation that crops out at the Phra That Muang Kham section, south of Lampang city, was measured and sampled for ostracod analysis. We here report the occurrence of 29 species distributed among 14 genera. Four new species are described: Triassocypris phakanella Forel nov. sp., Leviella lampangensis Forel nov. sp., Bektasia yawella Forel nov. sp. and Hungarella poli Chitnarin nov. sp. The present data represent the first detailed report of Middle Triassic (Anisian) ostracods from the Sukhothai terrane and the first insight into diversity dynamics following the end-Permian extinction in this area. The ostracod assemblages of the Phra That Muang Kham section are discussed and document an important shift from siliciclastic to carbonate conditions, from a protected to an open marine environment, followed by a slight regressive trend up-section associated with repeated salinity fluctuations. This fauna illustrates the post-crisis recovery during the Middle Triassic and some hypothesis are issued on the distribution pathways of several taxa.  相似文献

Abstract: Generally, lycophytes are not well represented in Anisian floras. Nonetheless, four different genera, each with one species, have been distinguished in the Anisian flora from Kühwiesenkopf (Monte Prà della Vacca), Italy. They were well preserved and yielded leaf cuticles in all four taxa and in situ spores in two of them. Lycopia dezanchei gen. et sp. nov. is the most common form; it is characterized by a dichotomising creeping prostrate rhizome (representing the primary shoot axis) from which arise aerial axes, apically bifurcated and covered with bundles of long leaves. This taxon cannot be attributed to any of the lycophyte orders, but most resembles Lycopodiales. Two representatives of the Isoetales have been found, of which Isoetites brandneri sp. nov. is abundant. This species is characterized by a short stem, which is unusual for this genus. In situ immature microspores and megaspores were found in some specimens. Lepacyclotes bechstaedtii sp. nov. has a quadrilobe corm with fertile scales inserted in whorls or slightly helicoidally. Short sterile leaves arise distally from the corm in some specimens. Selaginellales are very rare in the flora; Selaginellites leonardii sp. nov. is represented by a strobilus that yielded both micro‐ and megaspores. Some sterile fragments have been found associated, but never in organic connection.  相似文献

Supercalcified sponges, including sphinctozoans, inozoans, chaetetids, spongiomorphids, occurring in Upper Triassic (Norian-Rhaetian) shallow-marine limestones of Musandam Mountains in United Arab Emirates (UAE), are described. The following taxa were determined: sphinctozoans: Hajarispongia osmani Senowbari-Daryan and Yancey, Nevadathalamia arabica n. sp., Nevadathalamia conica n. sp., Fanthalamia milahaensis n. sp., Iranothalamia incrustans (Boiko), Cinnabaria regularis n. sp.; inozoans: Cavsonella triassica n. sp., Molengraaffia regularis Vinassa de Regny, Peronidella? sp., Circopora cf. caucasica Moiseev, Circopora? sp.; spongiomorphids: Spongiomorpha sp.; chaetetids: Lovcenipora chaetetiformis Vinassa de Regny, Lovcenipora musandamensis n. sp., Lovcenipora sp., chaetetid sponge gen. et sp. indet. The most abundant sponge in the studied material is Nevadathalamia arabica n. sp. The described sponge association of the Arabian shelf (Musandam Mountains) shows close affinity to the sponge association known from age-equivalent terranes in the Panthalassa Ocean (Sonora Mountains in Mexico; Pilot Mountains in Nevada, USA), but is remarkably different from sponge associations in carbonates bordering the Tethys. This difference goes along with the biogeography of wallowaconchid bivalves and is most likely attributed to climatic, palaeogeographic or oceanographic factors.  相似文献

A new Middle Triassic ichnofauna recovered nearby the town of Tisens (Bozen) in the Adige Valley (Trentino, Northern Italy) is described. A relatively large ichnoassociation, in which various ichnogenera can be recognized, comes from the basal inter-supratidal layers of a mixed carbonate siliciclastic unit of Pelsonian (Middle Anisian) age. Most of the isolated footprints and trackways pertain to lizard-like reptiles referable to Rhyncosauroides and, subordinately, to archosaurian reptiles. In particular, the ichnogenera Rotodactylus, Synaptichnium and Chirotherium have been recognized. Many tracks are at present unidentified; among them a lizard-like morphotype (morphotype A). The site also yelded numerous fossil plant horizons and some scattered vertebrate remains referable to Placodontidae (cf. Placodus gigas). The site shows the continuity in the Pelsonian of the “chirothere ichnofauna” and the dominance of Rhynchosauroides in carbonate, tidal flat environments.  相似文献

The Norian portion of the Costa dei Frascari succession (Matese Mountains, northern Campania) provides an example of a calcareous algae association dominated by the family Pseudoudoteaceae; subordinately, Gymnocodiaceae and Dasycladaceae also occur. The present study deals with the record of Garwoodia maxima Dragastan, Garwoodia toomeyi Dragastan, Pseudoudotea magna Dragastan et al., Jabrianella sp., and Asterocalculus heraki Sokac and Grgasovic, from the open-lagoon carbonate deposits which were referred to the portion of the Norian below the Triasina hantkeni Zone.Riassunto. Vengono presentati i risultati di uno studio sistematico condotto sulle alghe calcaree del Norico dei Monti del Matese (Campania settentrionale), per la prima volta segnalate in Italia. La ricca associazione è composta da prevalenti pseudoudoteacee e precisamente: Garwoodia maxima, Garwoodia toomeji, Pseudoudotea magna, Jabrianella sp., oltre a Asterocalculus heraki, Heteroporella zankli e Probolocuspis espakhensis, recentemente attribuito alle Dasycladales da Senowbari-Daryan and Majidifard. I campioni analizzati provengono dalla porzione inferiore della successione della Costa dei Frascari (versante meridionale dei Monti del Matese) i cui 160 m basali sono costituiti da prevalenti calcari granulo-sostenuti e da rare intercalazioni di calcari fango-sostenuti, talora loferitici, spesso dolomitizzati e stromatolitici. Labbondanza di antozoi, chetetidi, gasteropodi di grandi dimensioni e, in particolare, di resti di echinodermi indica che tali sedimenti si sono deposti in un ambiente di open-lagoon caratterizzato da continui scambi con il mare aperto che garantivano condizioni di salinità e ossigenazione delle acque idonee a questo tipo di organismi. In base allassociazione micropaleontologica e considerata lassenza di Triasina hantkeni e di Griphoporella curvata, la cui comparsa avviene a circa 160 m dalla base della successione, questi sedimenti sono stati riferiti alla porzione di Norico sottostante la Zona a Triasina hantkeni (sensu Marcoux et al. 1993).  相似文献

Summary The Sasca zone situated in the innermost part of the Getic Domain from the South Carpathians comprises mainly Triassic deposits of Scythian-Anisian (?Ladinian) age that can be ascribed to four different members forming the Sasca Formation. Three of the members consist of carbonate deposits. Their study permitted a brief characterization of the main microfacies types, and especially in the Valea Susara Limestone Member the identification of a relatively rich association of foraminifers and calcareous algae. The assemblage withMeandrospira dinarica, Pilammina densa, Oligoporella pilosa andPoncetella hexaster identified in these limestones indicates a Middle Anisian age (Pelsonian-Lowermost Illyrian). Difficulties arise in differentiating between the forms belonging to theOligoporella-Physoporella group for which a taxonomic revision is necessary. The morphologic characteristics of the three varieties ofDiplopora subtilis allow a splitting into different species.Teutloporella peniculiformis Ott, 1963 is regarded as anomen nudum.  相似文献

Thirty-five species belonging to 21 genera of foraminifers are distinguished from allochthonous limestone blocks contained within the autochthonous mudstones and sandstones of the Carnian Tanoura Formation, Kurosegawa Terrane of West Kyushu (SW Japan). These blocks are considered to be Anisian in age, based on the occurrence of two foraminifers widely distributed in the Anisian of the Tethyan Realm, Pilammina densa and Meandrospira dinarica; they are associated with Involutinid-like forms, such as Triadodiscus and Aulotortus, and with other foraminifers. The allochthonous limestones are mostly composed of oolites, abundant bioclasts and detrital quartz grains. They are thought to have been redeposited during the Carnian on the shelf slope of the South Kitakami-Kurosegawa Old Land. Palaeogeographically, this terrane was part of the North Gondwana margin, then isolated eastwards before its Early Cretaceous amalgamation with South China. Three foraminiferal species, Triadodiscus eomesozoicus (Oberhauser), Triadodiscus? tanourensis, n. sp., and Triadodiscus? sp. are described from the Anisian allochthonous blocks.  相似文献

The taxonomic revision of the carbonate microbiota of the limestone lenses intercalated into the Carboniferous siliciclastic series of Balia-Maden (Turkey) shows that most lenses are early or middle Brigantian in age (latest Visean), only a single lens being of younger age (late Serpukhovian). Calcareous microbiota are abundant in the Balia-Maden lenses carbonates. Microfacies analysis shows the dominance of shallow water environments. The Brigantian assemblage is accurately illustrated. The new foraminiferal taxon Cribrospira baliamadeni nov. sp. is morphologically similar to type-material of Cribrospira panderi von Möller, but has a porous wall with wider pores, almost keriothecal. C. baliamadeni nov. sp. corresponds to the misinterpreted Bradyina and Janischewskina of the previous literature on Balia-Maden lenses. These limestones show a great diversity of algosponges (carbonate microproblematica). Among them, (1) small, atypical Fasciella previously confused with Eosigmoilina; (2) an abundant form described for the first time, Frustulata reticulata nov. sp.; and (3) typical Falsocalcifolium punctatum (Maslov), important for the biostratigraphic implications, are also mentioned. The single Serpukhovian lens consists of a grainstone and contains the age-sensitive alga Archaeolithophyllum johnsoni Racz, and the foraminifers Monotaxinoides gracilis and Janischewskina sp.  相似文献

Summary After the end-Permian crisis and a global ‘reef gap’ in the early Triassic, reefs appeared again during the early Middle Triassic. Records of Anisian reefs are rare in the Tethys as well as in non-Tethyan regions. Most Anisian reefs are known from the western part of the Tethys but there are only very few studies focused on biota, facies types and the paleogeographical situation of these reefs. From the eastern part of the Tethys, Anisian reefs, reefal buildups or potential reef-building organisms have been reported from different regions of southern China. Most of the Anisian reefs known from western and central Europe as well as from southern China seem to be of middle and late Pelsonian age. The study area is situated in the northern Dolomites (South Tyrol, Italy) southeast of Bruneck (Brunico). It comprises the area between Olang (Valdaora) and Prags (Braies). The study is based on detailed investigations of the regional geology, stratigraphy and lithofacies (R. Zühlke, T. Bechst?dt) as well as on a comprehensive inventory of Anisian reef organisms (B. Senowbari-Daryan, E. Flügel). These data are used in the discussion of the controls on the recovery of reefs during the early Middle Triassic. Most late Anisian reef carbonates studied are represented by allochthonous talus reef blocks of cubicmeter size. Small biostromal autochthonous mounds are extremely rare (Piz da Peres). The reef mounds as well as most of the reef blocks occur within the middle to late Pelsonian Recoaro Formation. They were formed on the middle reaches of carbonate ramps in subtidal depths, slightly above the storm wave base with only moderate water energy. Most lithotypes observed in the reef blocks correspond to sponge and/or algal bafflestones. Low-growing sessile organisms (Olangocoelia (sponge, alga?), sphinctozoan sponges, bryozoans, soleno-poracean algae, corals) and encrusting epibionts (sponges, porostromate algae, cyanophycean crusts, foraminifera, worms, microproblematica) created low cm-sized biogenic structures (bioconstructions) which baffled and bound sediment. Organic framework was only of minor importance; it is restricted to theOlangocoelia lithotype. Framework porosity was small in these reef mounds. Submarine carbonate cements, therefore, are only of minor importance s compared with Permian or Ladinian reefs. The relatively high number of lithotypes encountered in the reef blocks indicates a high biofacies diversity. Regarding the relative frequency, the diverse biota consist in descending order ofOlangocoelia, sponges (sphinctozoans, inozoans, siliceous sponges), bryozoans, porostromate algae and worm tubes. The sphinctozoans are characterized by small, mostly incrusting forms. The numerical diversity (species richness) is low compared with late Permian or Ladinian and late Triassic sphinctozoan faunas occurring within reefs. Following the sponges, monospecific bryozoans (Reptonoditrypa cautica Sch?fer & Fois) are the most common organisms in the reef limestones. Porostromate algae were restricted to areas within the bioconstructions not inhabited by sponges. The low-diverse corals had no importance in the construction of an organic framework. Surprisingly, microbial crusts are rare or even lacking in the investigated Anisian bioconstructions. This is in contrast to late Permian and Ladinian as well as Carnian reefs which are characterized by the abundance of specific organic crusts. The same comes true for‘Tubiphytes’ which is a common constituent in Permian, Ladinian and Carnian reef carbonates but is very rare in the Anisian of the Olang Dolomites. Instead of‘Tubiphytes’ different kinds of worm tubes (spirorbid tubes, Mg-calcitic tubes and agglutinated tubes) were of importance as epifaunal elements. Macrobial encrustations consisting of characteristic successions of sponges, bryozoans, algae, worm tubes and microproblematica seem to be of greater quantitative importance than in Ladinian reefs. Destruction of organic skeletons (predominantly of bryozoans) by macroborers (cirripedia?) is a common feature. The Anisian reef organisms are distinctly different from late Permian and from most Ladinian reef-builders. No Permian Lazarus taxa have been found. New taxa: Sphinctozoan sponges—Celyphia? minima n.sp.,Thaumastocoelia dolomitica n. sp.,Deningeria tenuireticulata n. sp.,Deningeria crassireticulata n. sp.,Anisothalamia minima n.g. n.sp., Inozoan sponges-Meandrostia triassica n.sp. Microproblematica-Anisocellula fecunda n.g. n.sp., Porostromate alga-Brandneria dolomitica n.g. n.sp. Most of our data are in agreement with the model described byFois & Gaetani (1984) for the recovery of reef-building communities during the Ansian but the biotic diversity seems to be considerably higher than previously assumed. Anisian deposition and the formation of the reef mounds within the Pelsonian Recoaro Formation of the Dolomites were controlled by the combined effects of synsedimentary tectonics and eustatic changes in sea-level. During several time intervals, especially the early Anisian (northern and western Dolomites: tectonic uplift), the early Pelsonian (eastern Dolomites: drowning) and the late Illyrian (wide parts of the Dolomites: uplift and drowning), the sedimentation was predominantly controlled by regionally different tectonic subsidence rates. The amount of terrigenous clastic input associated with synsedimentary tectonics (tectonic uplift of hinterlands) had a major influence on carbonate deposition and reef development. The re-appearance of reef environments in the Olang Dolomites was controlled by a combination of regional and global factors (paleogeographic situation: development of carbonate ramps; decreasing subsidence of horst blocks; reduced terrigenous input; moderate rise in sea-level).  相似文献

The Sherwood Sandstone Group in south Devon consists of the Budleigh Salterton Pebble Beds and the Otter Sandstone Formation. The Otter Sandstone Formation comprises four lithostratigraphic sub-units, from the base labelled A-D, and contains tetrapods corresponding to the Perovkan land vertebrate faunachron, and is consequently a key European non-marine Anisian succession. A total of 181 palaeomagnetic specimens from 92 horizons were measured to determine the palaeomagnetic signal. The magnetic properties and characteristic remanence is predominantly carried by haematite, most of which probably formed early in the depositional and diagenetic history. The lower part of the Sherwood Sandstone Group (Budleigh Salterton Pebble Beds and Otter Sandstone Formation, unit A, lower part of unit B) has predominantly normal polarity (magnetozones BS1, BS2 and BS3n) with three thin reversed polarity magnetozones. The lower part of unit B to the lower part of unit C of the Otter Sandstone Formation is predominantly reverse polarity (magnetozones BS3r, BS4 and BS5), but includes three short normal polarity intervals. The upper ca. 50 m of unit C shows a mix of normal and reverse polarity (BS6, BS7) with normal dominating. The ca. 15-m-thick unit D is entirely of normal polarity (BS8n). The magnetostratigraphy allows unambiguous comparison with conodont and ammonite calibrated magnetostratigraphies from elsewhere in Europe. These show that the BS2 and BS3n magnetozones of the Otter Sandstone Formation are lower Aegean to middle Pelsonian (lower to middle Anisian). The BS3r to BS5r magnetozone interval, is middle Pelsonian to lower Illyrian (middle to upper Anisian), and the BS6 to BS8n magnetozone interval is middle Illyrian to lower Fassanian. The top of unit D is correlated to an interval in the middle of the Nevadites Zone (close to the Anisian-Ladinian boundary). Consequently, the Otter Sandstone Formation correlates with the Muschelkalk in the Polish Basin, but is equivalent to only part of the Germanic Basin Muschelkalk. The continuous magnetostratigraphy from the Sherwood Sandstone Group, provides additional details of the polarity pattern through the Pelsonian to Illyrian interval, which appears to be lacking in discontinuous marine sections. The Wachsenburg Sandstone of Thuringia (Central Germany) occurs within playa deposits of the Arnstadt Formation (Late Triassic, Norian) and furnishes an example of ephemeral river metamorphosis under dryland conditions. Characterized by high flow regime features, the sand-dominated lithofacies constitution exhibits sedimentation by channel processes under the influence of recurring flash floods. Bearing signatures of subaerial exposures, the fining-upward lithofacies cycles are bound by low-angle lateral accretion elements suggesting deposition in a meandering stream. Channel migration in response to point bar expansion and active bank erosion, led to the development of four laterally shifting point bar events. Unimodal palaeocurrent patterns with low variance and azimuthal dispersion support the point bar origin of the Wachsenburg Sandstone. With reduced water budget under largely semi-arid climate, the river progressively became smaller, highly sinuous and ultimately abandoned. The resulting point bar succession was finally covered with sheet flow deposits of over bank origin. The sandstone was deposited during a period of low base-level when the playa system temporarily fell dry.  相似文献

Summary The Steudnitz quarry (East Thuringia, Germany) exposes the entire Lower Muschelkalk (Middle Triassic, Anisian) with a thickness of 103 m. In this paper, a primarily palynofacies-based sequence-stratigraphical interpretation supported by lithological investigations is proposed. Palynofacies of the sampled carbonate rocks is dominated by land-derived phytoclasts and pollen grains. Spores are quite rare. Marine plankton reaches its maximum abundance in an interval around the ThuringianSpiriferina-bed and the Terebratel-beds. In accordance with lithological features, this interval may be interpreted as a third-order maximum-flooding zone. Two different third-order interpretations are presented and discussed. Third-order sequences and parasequence sets can be identified by use of palynofacies analysis. Furthermore, palynofacies analysis provides an additional possibility of recognizing partly eroded or originally incomplete cycles (‘missed beats’). In some cases, a resolution down to the level of parasequences is possible. High-resolution palynofacies analysis is a powerful new tool in sedimentology but should always be combined with lithofacies interpretation. It provides very useful, additional information for high-resolution sequence analysis and palaeoenvironmental interpretation. Being a rather young method, high-resolution palynofacies analysis still shows some calibration problems with classical methods. However, these should be solvable by further research.  相似文献

This paper focuses on the diversity and palaeontological significance of the Anisian floral record in the Triassic of the northeastern Iberian Peninsula. A summary of published information is followed by new records from macrofloral localities at Rodanas (Aragonese Branch of the Iberian Range) and at Maya del Baztán (Basque-Cantabrian Domain, Pyrenees). Both of these new localities also yielded three Anisian microfloral assemblages. These records provide new evidence of Anisian (basal Middle Triassic) floras in Spain. They are found to be somewhat similar to the classical flora of the Grès à Voltzia Formation (Upper Buntsandstein) of the northern Vosges in north-eastern France, of whose age has been shown to be early Anisian.  相似文献
