Entsprechend änderte sich die Situation ausgewählter 12 Wiesenvögel (in Paaren).a) nahezu verschollene Arten in Niederungen: Wachtelkönig und Kampfläufer (lang zurückliegende Brutnachweise).b) sehr stark abnehmend bei geringer Habitatweite: Bekassine — 1970 10 000–15 000, 1992 1500.c) (sehr) stark abnehmend, jedoch schwächt die größere Habitatweite den landesbezogenen Rückgang ab, so durch Zunahme von Kiebitz und Uferschnepfe auf Eindeichungsflächen: Kiebitz (63 % von 1970), Uferschnepfe 1970 1500–2000, 1992 1250; Kampfläufer (brütende ) 1992 150; Feldlerche (20 % von 1975); Schafstelze 1950 15 000–20 000, 1992 2100; Braunkehlchen 1950 10 000–15 000, 1992 2200.d) Rückgangstendenz in Niederungen gefährdet nicht die Landesbestände (1992): Austernfischer: >15 300; Rotschenkel: >6000; Wiesenpieper: 10 000–13 000.e) offene Situation: Großer Brachvogel — 1985 260–310.

The decline of wet-meadow birds in Schleswig-Holstein/Germany from 1950 to 1992

In Schleswig-Holstein, most wet meadows have been transformed into cultivated grassland (1446 km²). The populations of 12 selected bird species have changed correspondingly: Corncrake and Ruff now are almost extinct in the lowlands; the Snipe drastically declined (from 13 000 pairs in 1970 to 1500 pairs in 1992). Due to a broader habitat choice and an increase in embanked areas a decline is less noticeable at least for the whole country in Lapwing (in 1992 63 % of 1970), Black-tailed Godwit (in 1970 1500–2000, in 1992 1250 pairs), Ruff (150 breeding females), Skylark (in 1992 20 % of 1975), Blue-headed Wagtail (in 1950 18 000, in 1992 2100 pairs), Whinchat (in 1950 13 000, in 1992 2200 pairs). Species for which the decline in lowlands does not seriously affect the total of Schleswig-Holstein are Oystercatcher >15 300, Redshank >6000, Meadowpipit 10 000–13 000 (all figures for 1992). In the Curlew the situation is not fully known (in 1985 260–310 pairs).

基于营养通道模型的渤海生态系统结构十年变化比较

根据1982年和1992年渤海渔业资源和生态环境调查数据,应用EwE建模软件,构建了两个时期的营养通道模型,并比较分析了10a间渤海生态系统结构以及渔业资源的变化.模型包含鳀、黄鲫、蓝点马鲛、其它中上层鱼类、小黄鱼、花鲈、其它底层鱼类、底栖鱼类、浮游动物、浮游植物、碎屑等17个功能群, 基本覆盖了渤海生态系统能量流动的途径.分析结果表明,1992年渤海生态系统的总生物量比1982年有所下降;小型中上层鱼类成为渔业资源的主要成分,其生物量较1982年明显增加;由于低营养级层次渔获物数量的增加,渔获物平均营养级有所下降.从系统规模看1982年大于1992年.1982年到1992年的十年间, 引起渤海生态系统结构变化的主要原因是初级生产力的变化以及捕捞因素.1982年与1992年渤海生态系统均处于不成熟的发育期,仍有较高的剩余生产量有待利用,因此渔业资源恢复的物质基础是有保证的.

Evaluating care of patients reporting pain in fundholding practices.

OBJECTIVE--To compare quality of care between 1990 and 1992 in patients with self diagnosed joint pain. DESIGN--Questionnaire and record based study. SUBJECTS--Patients identified at consecutive consultations during two weeks in 1990, 1991, and 1992. SETTING--Six practice groups in pilot fundholding scheme in Scotland. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES--Length of consultation; numbers referred or investigated or prescribed drugs; responses to questions about enablement and satisfaction. RESULTS--About 15% of patients consulted with joint pain each year. 25% (316) of them had social problems in 1990 and 37% (370) in 1992; about a fifth wanted to discuss their social problems. Social problems were associated with a raised general health questionnaire score. The mean length of consultation for patients with pain was 7.6 min in 1990 and 7.7 min in 1992. Patients wishing to discuss social problems received longer consultations (8.5 min 1990; 10.4 min 1992); but other patients with social problems received shorter consultations (7.4 min; 7.2 min). The level of prescribing was stable but the proportion of patients having investigations or attending hospital fell significantly from 1990 to 1992 (31% to 24%; 31% to 13% respectively). Fewer patients responded "much better" to six questions about enablement in 1992 than in 1990. Enablement was better after longer than shorter consultations for patients with social problems. CONCLUSIONS--Quality of care for patients with pain has been broadly maintained in terms of consultation times. The effects of lower rates of investigation and referral need to be investigated further.     

Commercially available luminometers and imaging devices for low-light measurements and kits and reagents utilizing bioluminescence or chemiluminescence: Survey update I

This survey update was compiled in June 1993 and includes products not covered in the luminometer survey (Jan 1992; Stanley, PE. J Biolumin Chemilumin 1992; 7:77–108 and 7:157–69) and kit and reagent survey (Nov 1992; Stanley, PE. J Biolumin Chemilumin 1993; 8:51–63). Some products are new whilst for others details have only recently become available to the author. Technical details are provided together with company address and contact information.     

Comparison of prevalence of schizophrenia among residents of hostels for homeless people in 1966 and 1992.

OBJECTIVE--To determine whether the prevalence of schizophrenia among the homeless population of Edinburgh resident in hostels has changed between 1966 and 1992. DESIGN--Comparison of two cross sectional surveys. SETTINGS--Hostels for homeless people in Edinburgh. SUBJECTS--In 1966 a random sample of 98 residents of three common lodging houses. In 1992 a random sample of 198 residents of nine hostels. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURE--Prevalence of schizophrenia. RESULTS--The prevalence of schizophrenia in 1992 was 12/136 (9%) compared with 20/79 (25%) in 1966 (odds ratio 0.29; 95% confidence interval 0.13 to 0.62; P = 0.001). Adjustment for confounding by age, current hostel, and duration of unemployment by means of logistic regression produced an adjusted odds ratio of 0.22 (0.08 to 0.58). CONCLUSIONS--The prevalence of schizophrenia was lower in 1992 even after other changes in the population resident in hostels occurring between 1966 and 1992 were taken into account. The findings are not consistent with an increase in the prevalence of schizophrenia among homeless people despite a 66% reduction in adult psychiatric beds in the region during 1966-92.

Reproductive biology of the mosquitofish in a permanent natural lagoon in south-west Spain: two tactics for one species

Introduced Gambusia holbrooki in a natural lagoon of southern Spain consisted of two age groups: 1992 cohort, 7-11 months old and 1993 cohort, <4 months old. In the 1992 cohort, females grew even during the gestation period at about 0·30 mm day^-1. In the 1993 cohort, females displayed a high growth rate (0·55 mm day^-1) and reached reproductive size in a few weeks, but stopped growing when they matured. All the 1992 cohort reproduced from mid-May to mid-June, but only 50% of the 1993 cohort reproduced, from mid-August to mid-September. Reproducing females were significantly larger in the 1992 cohort (39·8 mm) than in the 1993 one (34·8 mm). The largest 1992 females cohort had reproduced previously; the 1993 cohort had not. The mean dry weight of intra-ovarian embryos decreased to a minimum immediately before birth. These metabolic costs represented 29·8 and 31·4% of the initial weights of the 1992 and 1993 embryos, respectively. Mean dry weight of full-term embryo was significantly higher in the 1992 cohort (0·80 ± 0·129 mg; 95% CL) than in the 1993 one (0·70 ± 0·086 mg; 95% CL). With more females in 1992, cohort fecundity was considerably higher (number of embryos=7151; 63%) than in the 1993 (4193; 37%) cohort. The population completed two generations each year (spring and summer). The spring stock grew slower than the summer one but continued to grow during the gestation period, reaching larger final lengths, with more synchronous reproduction and clearer evidence of a second reproductive event. Each reproductive stock displayed its own life-history characteristics, with significant differences between mean length of reproducing females, growth rate, mean brood size, offspring size, standard fecundity and minimum length at reproduction.     

脉压、脉压指数对肥胖预测的前瞻性队列研究

目的:分析成都地区1992年时非肥胖中年居民脉压(PP)、脉压指数(PPI)对该人群15年后(2007年)肥胖发生的预测价值。方法:本研究纳入1992年时年龄处于45～60岁且BMI正常者1017人,依据PP(PP≤60mmHg及PP>60mmHg)及PP(I PPI≤0.450及PPI>0.450)分为PP/PPI正常组及增高组,分析两组人群在15年后(2007年)BMI分布特征及肥胖的患病情况。结果:①1992年PP/PPI增高人群2007年时BMI皆高于PP/PPI正常人群,t检验示BMI组间差异有统计学意义。2007年肥胖患病率亦呈类似BMI的特点,亦为PP/PPI增高组高于PP/PPI正常组,经x2检验,肥胖患病率的组间差异有统计学意义。②根据该队列人群1992年的PP增高与否计算2007年的肥胖患病率的相对危险度(RR)为4.109,P值为0.000,95%可信区间为2.874～8.847;1992年PPI与2007年肥胖患病的RR为4.998,P值为0.000,95%可信区间为2.876～8.687。③使用logistic回归模型分析1992年基线PP/PPI对2007年肥胖患病的影响,在调整了SBP、WC、BMI、HR、TG后,PP、PPI的相对危险度仍为1.040及1.044。其各自相应95%CI分别为1.017～1.065、1.025～1.063。结论:脉压、脉压指数的异常与肥胖的发生关系密切,脉压、脉压指数可以预测肥胖的发生。

EFFECTS OF MORTALITY RISK AND GROWTH ON A MODEL OF REPRODUCTIVE EFFORT: WHY THE SHINE AND SCHWARZKOPF MODEL IS NOT GENERAL

Using data and reanalysis of a model published by Shine and Schwarzkopf (1992) we reject the two unsubstantiated assertions made by Shine et al. (1996) about modeling the evolution of reproductive effort in squamate reptiles: (1) mortality schedules do not affect predictions of the Shine and Schwarzkopf (1992) model; and (2) growth rates that would affect the predictions of the original model are biologically unreasonable. On the basis of these two points alone, we strongly reject Shine et al.'s (1996) claim that a critique by Niewiarowski and Dunham (1994) actually reinforces the original conclusions of Shine and Schwarzkopf (1992). Furthermore, results and data presented here are strong enough to severely circumscribe the generality of the Shine and Schwarzkopf (1992) model. Though we do not provide data or new analyses of the potential effects of offspring size variation, we reaffirm the position of Niewiarowski and Dunham (1994) that the sensitivity of the Shine and Schwarzkopf (1992) model to such effects should be explored before using it as a basis for structuring future research on the evolution of reproductive effort in squamate reptiles.

Change in Hepatitis B Virus Large Surface Antigen Variant Prevalence 13 Years after Implementation of a Universal Vaccination Program in China

A nationwide hepatitis B virus (HBV) vaccination program was implemented in China starting in 1992. To study the change in HBV variant prevalence with massive immunization, large HBV surface protein (LHBs) genes from HBV surface antigen (HBsAg)-positive sera were amplified and sequenced. The prevalences of LHBs mutants were compared between the 1992 and 2005 surveys in child and adult groups. The prevalence of “α” determinant mutants in the children increased from 6.5% in 1992 to 14.8% in 2005, where the G145R mutant occurred most frequently. In contrast, mutation frequencies showed little difference between 1992 (9.4%) and 2005 (9.9%) in adults. Moreover, compared to the 1992 survey, the child group surface (S) protein mutation frequency specifically increased (P = 0.005) in the 2005 survey, but the pre-S region mutation frequency did not show a significant difference (P > 0.05). However, the mutation frequency in the adult group increased in both the pre-S and S regions. Furthermore, the frequencies of the disease-related pre-S2 deletion and start codon mutations were significantly higher in the adult groups than in the child groups in both the 1992 and 2005 surveys (P < 0.01). Massive immunization enhances the HBV S protein mutation; the prevalence of LHBs mutants, particularly disease-related mutants, tends to increase with patient age.
