Brachiopod species have been collected in lithologicalunits dated with ammonites in the Bajocian and the Bathonian of the Vienne valley (South-West of the Parisian Basin, France) where detailed surveys were carried out. These observations brought out informations about stratigraphical range and palaeoecology of the species.Some of these brachiopods had alrewdy been observedin the Creuse valley (Fischer 1962, 1964). Comparison between the two lithological and faunal sequences in these valleys, allows to give a new interpretation about the stratigraphical sequence in the Creuse valley. The occurrence of Eudesia infrabathonica Fischer in the Upper Bajocian (Parkinsoni Zone) is noticeable.  相似文献

A new exposure at Oborne, Dorset has yielded a rich fossil assemblage of the Lower Bajocian ammonite Kumatostephanus from the Laeviuscula and Humphriesianum zones. The principal bed containing this ammonite, the Green Grained White Marl is locally diachronous; it is an important local marker horizon and it is herein proposed as a formal stratigraphical unit. The specimens obtained allow a better understanding of the evolution of the genus Kumatostephanus and its relationships to the other stephanoceratids, notably Stemmatoceras.  相似文献

From Bajocian to lower Kimmeridgian, the subfamilyStephanocerataceae represents a large stock of the ammonite fauna. Though it is tributary of author's stratigraphical correlations and systematical interpretations, its geographical distribution with a drifting continents concept gives many teaching about the study of this superfamily, the continental drift and its consequences. Showing a world wide repartition at its apparition this stock then presents branches; the one (Stephanoceratidae) is not envisaged here; the second (Sphaeroceratidae and Cardioceratidae families) characterises rather the «boreal province; the third (Macrocephalitidae family) is chiefly specific of the «tethysian province. A «north-east pacific province with boreal affinities and a «south-east province with tethysian affinities are delimited. It is probably from its fauna that the tethysian macrocephalitid stock appears; first represented by ammonites specifically north american in middle and upper Bathonian stage, they extend during upper Bathonian and lower Callovian and reach South America and the Tethys. The presence of a narrow sea, on Patagonia, West Antarctica, East Africa, Madagascar and India, joining the Tethys and the south edge of Gondwania, is proved at various times, at Bajocian and Callovian stages.  相似文献

Grammoceratinae (Hildoceratidae, Ammonitina) abound in the Toarcian strata of many western Tethyan localities, especially the Subbetic and Lusitanian basins (of southern Spain and central western Portugal, respectively). They decline through the Aalenian and disappear by the lowermost Bajocian. The genera Asthenoceras, Vacekia (subgenera Vacekia and Nadorites) and Fontannesia are traditionally considered as the last Grammoceratinae, with species of Osperleioceras occurring in the uppermost Toarcian. Grammoceratinae are common in the eastern Pacific, especially Oregon and Alaska where Asthenoceras is abundant. They also occur in the eastern Tethys (Thailand). Although studies of Toarcian to early Bajocian Subbetic and Lusitanian grammoceratins already exist, new material from these and other palaeogeographic areas (England, Portugal and Spain) is revised here. A new genus, Linaresites nov. gen. (for Fontannesia montillanensis Linares and Sandoval) and two new species (Vacekia striata Henriques, and Asthenoceras taverai Sandoval) are described. Another form, “Asthenoceras” sp. A is described and let in open nomenclature. Temporal analysis of Aalenian to early Bajocian Grammoceratinae demonstrates a progressively more evolute morphology through time, sometimes coupled with size reduction. Palaeogeographic evidence suggests that during the early Middle Jurassic, western Tethys and eastern Pacific were temporarily well connected, possibly through the Hispanic Corridor, as demonstrated by the similarity between Tethyan and eastern Pacific Grammoceratinae.  相似文献

Parkinsonids (Ammonitina) of the Subfurcatum Zone (Upper Bajocian) were found in the “Calcaires à petites huitres” formation from the northern part of Ile Crémieu. Correlations are established between different Upper Bajocian lithostratigraphic units of Mont d'Or lyonnais, Ile Crémieu and folded Jura.  相似文献

Whereas Middle Jurassic gastropods are very well known in Europe and other regions of the world, these faunas have been much less studied from northern Africa and most contributions available in literature have been based on relatively well-preserved material. Except a little lower Bajocian fauna from the Central High Atlas (Morocco) described at the turn of the 21th century, nothing is known about the Middle Jurassic gastropods of the southwestern Tethyan margin. The present paper aims to update the systematics of two vetigastropod species: Obornella cf. granulata (Sowerby, 1818) and Ambercyclus ornatus (Sowerby, 1819) recently found in the upper Bajocian succession of the Ksour Mountains (Tniet el Klakh Formation) at western Saharan Atlas (northern Algeria). The new Ambercyclus material found in well-preserved conditions confirms the absence of umbilicus in Ambercyclus; thus, we emend the original generic diagnosis. The specimens of Obornella cf. granulata and Ambercyclus ornatus represent the first occurrence of both genera and species in the upper Bajocian marine deposits of the western Saharan Atlas, and provide new taxonomic and palaeobiogeographic information about Middle Jurassic vetigastropods in Algeria.  相似文献

Detailed morphological study of the ring of the Jurassic saturnalid radiolarian species frequently cited in the literature as Hexasaturnalis suboblongus (Yao) has proven that it contains two well-defined species: H. suboblongus (Yao), practically ranging within the boundaries of the Bajocian, and Hexasaturnalis nakasekoi nov. sp., ranging within the Bathonian-Kimmeridgian interval. The two species seem to be important stratigraphically because the transition from the former to the latter took place at or around the Bajocian/Bathonian boundary. The phyletic lineage Hexasaturnalis hexagonus (Yao) → H. inuyamaensis (Yao) → H. suboblongus (Yao) → H. nakasekoi nov. sp. → H. minor (Baumgartner) → Dicerosaturnalis angustus (Baumgartner) → D. dicranacanthos (Squinabol) is proposed.  相似文献

The present statistical study of two Bajocian populationsof Isastrea from eastern France uses different methods of measurement taking into account the colonial character. The results of the univariate and the multivariate analyses together with direct observation of qualitative characters show that only two species are present in the samples: Isastrea bernardiana and I.tenuistriata. A new synonymy is suggested for the Bajocian species. Genera such as Andemantastraea All. and Parisastraea All. correspond to the common variation of Isastrea. The taxonomic position of other Jurassic Isastrea is examined. It is probably possible to use extreme morphotypes as stratigraphic markers owing to an eventual anagenesis.A comparison between the two samples denotes that the variation range or the mean value of some quantitative characters (number, thickness of septa, dimension of corallites, trabecular density) contributes to the paleoecological interpretation.The present paper emphasizes the necessity ofwell-defined species based preferably on population study, for a reliable generic definition.  相似文献

From exceptionally rich and mostly well-preserved Lower Bajocian ammonite assemblages, eight lytoceratid species are described and discussed in detail. They belong to four genera (Lytoceras, Megalytoceras, Alocolytoceras and Nannolytoceras) and include some stratigraphically important forms. Thus the material yielded the hitherto known youngest (Lower Bajocian Otoites sauzei Zone) representative of genus Alocolytoceras (A.?isztimeri n. sp.). On the basis of here-identified forms, the range of Lytoceras subfrancisci could be extended up into the Otoites sauzei Zone. A new species (Nannolytoceras gibbosum n. sp.) from the Witchellia laeviuscula/Otoites sauzei zonal boundary interval suggests that the origin of Nannolytoceras could have been earlier than previously recorded. The faunal compositions of the assemblages reflect a typical Tethyan character, with lytoceratids representing only the third most numerous ammonite group behind Phylloceratina and Ammonitina.  相似文献

New species of Paramegateuthis (Megateuthididae) and Cylindroteuthis (Cylindroteuthididae) are described from the Bajocian–Bathonian boundary interval of the Yuryung-Tumus Peninsula, northern Siberia, Russia. Additionally, Paramegateuthis subishmensis Stoyanova-Vergilova, 1983, first documented from the Sub-Mediterranean region, is described herein from the Arctic. We propose the presence of a temporary passage between the Boreal and Tethyan seas in the European part of Russia during the Early Bajocian Humphriesianum Chronozone as an explanation of the migration of P. subishmensis. New belemnite records from the Yuryung-Tumus section contribute to the palaeontological characteristics of the Arctic domain.  相似文献

Uppermost Bajocian (Parkinsoni Zone, Bomfordi Subzone) calcitic concretions from the epicratonic basin in South-Central Poland (Polish Jura) contain numerous, well-preserved ammonites unique for this area. Characteristic of the assemblages is the presence of small, juvenile specimens. Associated with dominant parkinsoniids (Parkinsonia (Parkinsonia) aff. dorni Arkell) are lytoceratids [Nannolytoceras tripartitum (Raspail)], lissoceratids [(Lissoceras (Lissoceras) oolithicum (d'Orbigny) and Lissoceras (Microlissoceras) solitarium Zatoń and Marynowski nov. sp.)], leptosphinctids (Vermisphinctes sp.) and strigoceratids [(Strigoceras (Strigoceras) sp. juv. gr. strigifer/pseudostrigifer)], as well as fragments of phylloceratids (Phylloceras sp.). Parkinsoniids (the most numerous) are considered here as host fauna. Other ammonites, especially phylloceratids and nannolytoceratids, are supposed migrants from the Mediterranean area into the shallow epicratonic Polish Basin during the Late Bajocian sea-level rise. N. tripartitum, which has a broad geographical range probably drifted as a plankton-feeder in the upper water column and, together with phylloceratids, are considered to be unsuccessful immigrants which did not adapt to the new environment. It seems that the whole fauna, inclusive of plant remains, was accumulated by bottom currents in randomly situated depressions on the sea-floor, where carcasses became ideal nucleation sites for concretion genesis. Early diagenesis, which played an important role, resulted in well-preserved ammonite assemblages close to the original biological assemblage. Most of described ammonites (nannolytoceratids, lissoceratids, strigoceratids and leptosphinctids) are reported from the Upper Bajocian epicratonic deposits of Poland for the first time. This makes the concretions a true “taphonomic window” into latest Bajocian census biocenosis. The organic geochemistry results suggest predominance of terrestrial organic matter in both concretions and surrounding clays, with well oxygenated conditions in the sedimentary basin. The large concentrations of Δ13(17)diasterenes in the analysed carbonate concretions indicates that these compounds must have been formed by contact with clay minerals before formation of the carbonate concretions. The processes described may have followed early stage of diagenesis, but certainly under tens of cm to even a few meters of burial. The high negative δC13 values in the inner zone of the concretions suggest that concretion growth began in the sulphate reduction zone and may have continued in the methanogenesis zone.  相似文献

The genus Djanaliparkinsonia Kutuzova, 1975 was originally described as an endemic subgenus of the genus Parkinsonia (family Parkinsoniidae of the superfamily Perisphinctoidea) from the Upper Bajocian (middle member of the Degibadam Formation) of the Gissar Range (Uzbekistan). A new species D. alanica sp. nov. is established from the Upper Bajocian Garantiana garantiana Zone (upper member of the Djangura Formation) based on occurrences in the Northern Caucasus (Karachay-Cherkessia). Macroconchs and microconchs of the new species are described from the two localities on the Kuban and Kyafar rivers. Djanaliparkinsonia sp. is identified from the lower subzone of the Parkinsonia parkinsoni Zone of the Kyafar River. The species composition and geographic range of Djanaliparkinsonia are expanded: a species previously described from Germany as Garantiana bentzi Wetzel, 1954 also assigned to the genus. The genus Djanaliparkinsonia is assigned to the subfamily Garantianinae of the family Stephanoceratidae (superfamily Stephanoceratoidea).  相似文献

Ammonites of the genus Spiroceras are described from the Upper Bajocian of the Kyafar River Basin (Karachay-Cherkessia), including macroconchs with preserved apertures and (for the first time in the entire history of the study of Middle Jurassic heteromorphs) microconchs with lateral lappets. The microconchs of S. bispinatum (Baugier et Sauzé), mainly represented by cyrtocones with one ventral row of nodes, correspond to microconchs with a gyroconic shell and a single row of nodes. Macroconchs and microconchs of S. annulatum (Deshayes), the ribs of which lack prominent nodes or spines, are found together. The assemblage also contains small-sized slightly uncoiled shells of Spiroceras aff. S. fourneti Roman et Pétouraud with widely spaced ribs and two prominent rows of large nodes, presumably macro- and microconchs. The ornamentation of this species resembles that of the monomorph Bajocia rarinoda Sturani from the upper part of the Lower Bajocian; perhaps the latter was ancestral to the Middle Jurassic heteromorph. The above species of Spiroceras, as well as S. obliquecostatum (Quenstedt), are figured.  相似文献

An endemic brackish water faunule consisting of three taxa of bivalves,Hudsonella sinensis (Chen) n. gen.,Hudsonella sp., andProtocardia hepingxiangensis Chen & Lin occurs in the Bajocian of the southern Qinghai province, China.Hudsonella sinensis is a very variable species with a hinge structure characteristic of the subfamily Pachydontinae of the family Corbulidae. According to both geochemical data (stable carbon isotopes and the strontium/barium ratio) and ecological data the faunule lived in a brackish water embayment of mesohaline salinity (5#x2013;18 per mil) burrowing in soft substrate.  相似文献

The phylogeny of the Middle Jurassic Cardioceratidae is reconstructed on the basis of a study of their shell morphology and analysis of their stratigraphic distribution. The phylogenetic lineage CranocephalitesArctocephalitesArcticocerasParacadoceras is assigned to the subfamily Arctocephalitinae (Upper Bajocian–lowermost Callovian). The subfamily Cadoceratinae (Upper Bajocian–Callovian) also originating from Cranocephalites includes the phylogenetic lineage GreencephalitesCadocerasLongaeviceras; and lateral branches Chamoussetia and Platychamoussetia. The origin of the Early Callovian Eckhardites, also assigned to Cardioceratidae, is not established. The generic names Rondiceras and Cadochamoussetia are considered as junior synonyms of Cadoceras and Chamoussetia, respectively. The Early Callovian species Cadoceras bellabimba sp. nov. is described.  相似文献

Three new species of fossil snipe flies (Insecta, Diptera, Rhagionidae) from the Daohugou Formation of Chifeng City in Nei Monggol Autonomous Region (= Inner Mongolia), northeastern China are described as Palaeobolbomyia sinica nov. sp., Ussatchovia robusta nov. sp. and Ussatchovia gracilenta nov. sp. They represent the first records of the genera Palaeobolbomyia Kovalev and Ussatchovia Kovalev in China and have implications for stratigraphic correlation of the formations in which they are found. Although the precise age of the Daohugou Formation is currently unresolved, it is most likely Callovian-Oxfordian (latest Middle Jurassic-earliest Late Jurassic) rather than early Middle Jurassic (late Aalenian-early Bajocian) or Early Cretaceous.  相似文献

The discovery of Planomalina buxtorfi (GANDOLFI) in the Upper Albian (Stoliczkaia dispar zone) of Abbotscliff (Kent, England), associated with Rotalipora appenninica (RENZ), Praeglobotruncana delrioensis (PLUMMER), Hedbergella simplex (MORROW) and Hedbergella costellata SAINT MARC, appreciably modifies data on the geography and stratigraphical distribution of these species in the boreal realm.  相似文献

A systematic research of the non-marine ostracodes from the Aquitaine Basin Neogene shows that these animals were locally well represented and able to indicate palaeoecological and palaeoclimatic data, comparable in quality with such data as from Recent continental environments. We provide a list of the taxa, and the stratigraphical distribution during the Lower and the Middle Miocene is indicated, as well as the geographical location in comparison with the estimated shorelines. The recent stratigraphical revisions of some Miocene deposits, mainly marine, from the central, southern and northern parts of the Aquitaine Basin are used. The studied microfauna contains about 20 genera and slightly more than 30 species. Most of the found genera correspond to fresh to brackish ostracodes (particularly Cytheridae and Candonidae). Several genera can indicate environmental characteristics: Candonopsis and Sclerocypris (Upper Aquitanian in age) are intertropical dwellers. Vecticypris from the Lower Miocene could indicate (in analogy with Metacypris) relatively cooler waters existing in these environments.  相似文献
