A method was used for organizing training for aerobic working capacity. Its salient feature was individualization of the main components of the training process: dosing of the physical load at a level of 90–95% of the anaerobic threshold and optimizing the duration of rest on the basis of revealing the phase of superrecovery of the aerobic working capacity. The study, which enrolled 64 healthy males and females aged 16–20 years, provided evidence for the high effectiveness of the method. After 12 weeks of training, the anaerobic threshold, the systolic work index, and the results of Cooper’s 12-min test increased, respectively, by 9.7, 24, and 16% in the males and by 9.2, 32, and 25% in the females. We studied three Russian cosmonauts to better understand how long-term exposure to microgravity affects autonomic cardiovascular control. We recorded the electrocardiogram, finger photoplethysmographic pressure, and respiratory flow before, during, and after two 9-mo missions to the Russian space station Mir. Measurements were made during four modes of breathing: 1) uncontrolled spontaneous breathing; 2) stepwise breathing at six different frequencies; 3) fixed-frequency breathing; and 4) random-frequency breathing. R wave-to-R wave (R-R) interval standard deviations decreased in all and respiratory frequency R-R interval spectral power decreased in two cosmonauts in space. Two weeks after the cosmonauts returned to Earth, R-R interval spectral power was decreased, and systolic pressure spectral power was increased in all. The transfer function between systolic pressures and R-R intervals was reduced in-flight, was reduced further the day after landing, and had not returned to preflight levels by 14 days after landing. Our results suggest that long-duration spaceflight reduces vagal-cardiac nerve traffic and decreases vagal baroreflex gain and that these changes may persist as long as 2 wk after return to Earth.  相似文献

Biomechanical and electromyographic characteristics of locomotion were studied before and after a space flight on days 3, 7, and 10 after landing in 18 participants of prolonged space missions on board the International Space Station. It has been shown that microgravity causes significant changes in biomechanical and electromyographic characteristics of walking, such as a decrease in the amplitude of angular displacement in leg joints, a decrease in the double step length, and an increase in the electromyographic costs of locomotion. It has been also shown that interval locomotor physical training, such as alternation of running and walking, in prolonged space flights prevents an increase in the physiological costs of locomototions after a space flight and provides more efficient maintenance of the neuromuscular system’s performance after a flight. Cosmonauts who performed interval locomotor training had fewer changes in biomechanical and electromyographic characteristics of walking.  相似文献

The first human flight to space performed by Yu.A. Gagarin on April 12, 1961 was a crucial event in the history of cosmonautics that had a tremendous effect on the further progress of human civilization. Gagarin’s flight had been preceded by targeted biomedical research with the use of diverse biological objects on board rockets and artificial satellites. This research led to the conclusion on the fundamental possibility for humans to fly in space. After a series of early flights and improvements in the medical support system, space missions to the Salyut and Mir stations were gradually extended to record durations. The foundations of this extension were laid by systemic research in the fields of space biomedicine and related sciences. The current ISS system of the crew’s medical care has been successful in maintaining the health and performance of cosmonauts, as well as in providing the conditions for research in various fields related to space flights. The ISS abounds in opportunities for the preparation for piloted interplanetary missions. At the same time, the ground-based simulation of a mission to Mars is a venue for carrying out scientific and technological experiments in space biomedicine.  相似文献

A complex study of the physical working capacity of five- to six-year-old children (n = 106) was performed. It was found that the physical working capacity of preschool children at this age is determined by the following five major factors: (I) aerobic capacity, (II) anaerobic glycolytic working capacity, (III) absolute aerobic power, (IV) relative aerobic power, and (V) anaerobic alactic working capacity. Sex-related differences in some parameters reflecting the physical working capacity and fitness, characterizing the anaerobic alactic and anaerobic glycolytic productivity of the body were revealed. These differences are apparently related to an advanced development of anaerobic energy-supply mechanisms of girls compared to age-matched boys. The procedure of a complex assessment of the physical working capacity of five- to six-year-old children has been developed, which includes informative parameters characterizing the power and capacity of energy systems selected on the basis of results of factor analysis and expert assessment. A rapid procedure for a complex assessment of working capacity based on calculating the time during which a physical load (2 W/kg) can be sustained is proposed. The study showed that shifts in the intensity of physical activity within the optimal range resulted in multifold changes in its duration. Importantly, the duration of physical activity’s performance at an intensity of 175–180 bpm in children with a high working capacity is comparable to the maximum work duration at a heart rate of 140–145 bmp in preschool children with a low physical condition. Differences between children with high and low physical working capacity were found to increase with an increase in the physical load aerobicity. The physical working capacity of five- to six-year-old children can be differentiated best of all on the basis of aerobic capacity parameters. The enormous range of changes in the aerobic capacity parameters makes them especially valuable for characterizing the level of somatic health of preschool children. The results of this study were used to construct a nomogram for the determination of the allowable training load depending on its intensity and physical working capacity.  相似文献

In new guiding documents on preschool education in the Russian Federation, children's play is named as leading activity before school, which can create the zone of proximal development. This served as a stimulus to ask what is the present level of children's play? The level was evaluated on the basis of structural components of play in child groups by observing play activity in day care institutions. Five structural components were observed: play plot, methods of constructing role, play materials, use of space, and interaction with peers. General level of play was moderate and advanced forms hardly existed. Seventy-two percent of play was categorized having a story line or plot and 20% were adventure plays (mainly boys).  相似文献

The adaptation of muscle structure, power output, and mass-specific rate of maximal O2 consumption (VO2max/Mb) with endurance training on bicycle ergometers was studied for five male and five female subjects. Biopsies of vastus lateralis muscle and VO2max determinations were made at the start and end of 6 wk of training. The power output maintained on the ergometer daily for 30 min was adjusted to achieve a heart rate exceeding 85% of the maximum for two-thirds of the training session. It is proposed that the observed preferential proliferation of subsarcolemmal vs. interfibrillar mitochondria and the increase in intracellular lipid deposits are two possible mechanisms by which muscle cells adapt to an increased use of fat as a fuel. The relative increase of VO2max/Mb (14%) with training was found to be smaller by more than twofold than the relative increase in maximal maintained power (33%) and the relative change in the volume density of total mitochondria (+40%). However, the calculated VO2 required at an efficiency of 0.25 to produce the observed mass-specific increase in maximal maintained power matched the actual increase in VO2max/Mb (8.0 and 6.5 ml O2 X min-1 X kg-1, respectively). These results indicate that despite disparate relative changes the absolute change in aerobic capacity at the local level (maintained power) can account for the increase in aerobic capacity observed at the general level (VO2max).  相似文献

Background

Developing non-pharmacological interventions with strong potential to prevent or delay the onset of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) in high-risk populations is critical. Aerobic exercise and cognitive training are two promising interventions. Aerobic exercise increases aerobic fitness, which in turn improves brain structure and function, while cognitive training improves selective brain function intensively. Hence, combined aerobic exercise and cognitive training may have a synergistic effect on cognition by complementary strengthening of different neural functions. Few studies have tested the effects of such a combined intervention, and the findings have been discrepant, largely due to varying doses and formats of the interventions.

Methods/design

The purpose of this single-blinded, 2?×?2 factorial phase II randomized controlled trial is to test the efficacy and synergistic effects of a 6-month combined cycling and speed of processing training intervention on cognition and relevant mechanisms (aerobic fitness, cortical thickness, and functional connectivity in the default mode network) in older adults with amnestic mild cognitive impairment. This trial will randomize 128 participants equally to four arms: cycling and speed of processing, cycling only, speed of processing only, or attention control for 6?months, and then follow them for another 12?months. Cognition and aerobic fitness will be assessed at baseline and at 3, 6, 12, and 18?months; cortical thickness and functional connectivity at baseline and at 6, 12, and 18?months; Alzheimer’s disease (AD) conversion at 6, 12, and 18?months. The specific aims are to (1) determine the efficacy and synergistic effects of the combined intervention on cognition over 6?months, (2) examine the underlying mechanisms of the combined intervention, and (3) calculate the long-term effect sizes of the combined intervention on cognition and AD conversion. The analysis will use intention-to-treat and linear mixed-effects modeling.

Discussion

This trial will be among the first to test the synergistic effects on cognition and mechanisms (relevant to Alzheimer’s-associated neurodegeneration) of a uniquely conceptualized and rigorously designed aerobic exercise and cognitive training intervention in older adults with mild cognitive impairment. It will advance Alzheimer’s prevention research by providing precise effect-size estimates of the combined intervention.

Individual responses to aerobic training vary from almost none to a 40% increase in aerobic fitness in sedentary subjects. The reasons for these differences in the training response are not well known. We hypothesized that baseline cardiovascular autonomic function may influence the training response. The study population included sedentary male subjects (n = 39, 35 +/- 9 yr). The training period was 8 wk, including 6 sessions/wk at an intensity of 70-80% of the maximum heart rate for 30-60 min/session. Cardiovascular autonomic function was assessed by measuring the power spectral indexes of heart rate variability from 24-h R-R interval recordings before the training period. Mean peak O2 uptake increased by 11 +/- 5% during the training period (range 2-19%). The training response correlated with age (r = -0.39, P = 0.007) and with the values of the high-frequency (HF) spectral component of R-R intervals (HF power) analyzed over the 24-h recording (r = 0.46, P = 0.002) or separately during the daytime hours (r = 0.35, P = 0.028) and most strongly during the nighttime hours (r = 0.52, P = 0.001). After adjustment for age, HF power was still associated with the training response (e.g., P = 0.001 analyzed during nighttime hours). These data show that cardiovascular autonomic function is an important determinant of the response to aerobic training among sedentary men. High vagal activity at baseline is associated with the improvement in aerobic power caused by aerobic exercise training in healthy sedentary subjects.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of repeated high-intensity intermittent training programs interspaced by detraining on human skeletal muscle and performances. First, nineteen subjects were submitted to a 15-week cycle ergometer training program which involved both continuous and high-intensity interval work patterns. Among these 19 subjects, six participated in a second 15-week training program after 7 weeks of detraining. Subjects were tested before and after each training program for maximal aerobic power and maximal short-term ergocycle performances of 10 and 90s. Muscle biopsy from the vastus lateralis before and after both training programs served for the determination of creatine kinase (CK), hexokinase, phosphofructokinase (PFK), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), malate dehydrogenase, 3-hydroxyacyl-CoA dehydrogenase (HADH) and oxoglutarate dehydrogenase (OGDH) activities. The first training program induced significant increases in all performances and enzyme activities but not in CK. Seven weeks of detraining provoked significant decreases in maximal aerobic power and maximal 90s ergocycle performance. While the interruption of training had no effect on glycolytic enzyme markers (PFK and LDH), oxidative enzyme activities (HADH and OGDH) declined. These results suggest that a fairly long interruption in training has negligeable effects on glycolytic enzymes while a persistent training stimulus is required to maintain high oxidative enzyme levels in human skeletal muscle. The degree of adaptation observed after the second training program confirms that the magnitude of the adaptive response to exercise-training is limited.  相似文献

The main aim of the study was to investigate whether different levels of aerobic power influence heart rate (HR) responses during the first minute of recovery following maximal exercise in athletes. Thirty-two young male soccer players were recruited for the study during the final week of their training prior to [corrected] the competition. Following the maximal exercise on treadmill the participants were placed supine for 60 s of HR recording. The time between exercise cessation and the recovery HR measurement was kept as short as possible. At the end of exercise (i.e., the start of recovery), HRs were [corrected] was similar in both trials. At both 10 s and 20 s of recovery period, the players characterized by high aerobic power (> 60 ml/kg/ min) revealed significantly lower HR as compared to their sub-elite counterparts (< 50 ml/kg/min; P < 0.05). No differences between the groups were found at later stages of the analyzed post-exercise HR. The data suggest that the athletes characterized by high aerobic capacity could be better adapted to maximal exercise with faster recovery HR immediately following an exercise test. These results generally suggest that the aerobic power along with autonomic modulation might have played a role in the ultra short-term cardiovascular responses to all-out exercise.  相似文献

In the period from 2000 to 2012, the values of 40 diagnostically significant biochemical indices in venous blood were determined during the preflight clinical and physiological examination of 28 Russian cosmonauts aged 35 to 54, members of the main and backup crews of missions on board the International Space Station. The examination was conducted 45-30 days prior to the launch. Since most cosmonauts performed several flights during this period and they were repeatedly included in backup crews, each of the cosmonauts participated in preflight examinations one to five times. The reference values were calculated for each of the studied indices. It was found that reference interval boundaries for 15 indices were narrower as compared to the generally accepted ranges. The upper boundaries of the reference ranges of the activities of a number of enzymes, as well as of the concentrations of some metabolites of energy and plasticity metabolism, were higher than the population’s mean values. Thus, it was found that Russian cosmonauts, being a specific professional team, had reference values of a number of blood biochemical indices that were different from the population’s mean values. This was due to the characteristics of selection, physical training, and psychic and emotional states of crew members during the preflight period.  相似文献

This study investigated the effects of skill-based conditioning games and traditional conditioning for improving speed, agility, muscular power, and maximal aerobic power in rugby league players. Sixty-nine subelite rugby league players performed either a skill-based conditioning games program (N = 32) or a traditional conditioning (i.e., running activities with no skill component) program (N = 37). Each player participated in a 9-week in-season training program, performed over 2 competitive seasons. Players performed 2 organized field-training sessions each week. Players underwent measurements of speed (10-m, 20-m, and 40-m sprint), muscular power (vertical jump), agility (L run), and maximal aerobic power (multi-stage fitness test) before and after the training period. Skill-based conditioning games induced a significant improvement (p < 0.05) in 10-m, 20-m, and 40-m speed, muscular power, and maximal aerobic power, whereas traditional conditioning activities improved 10-m speed and maximal aerobic power only. No significant differences (p > 0.05) were detected between the traditional conditioning and skill-based conditioning games groups for changes in 10-m speed, agility, and maximal aerobic power. Both groups won 6 of 8 matches played within the training period, resulting in a win-loss ratio of 75%. However, on average, the skill-based conditioning games group scored more points in attack (p < 0.05) and had a greater (p < 0.05) points differential than the traditional conditioning group. The results of this study demonstrate that skill-based conditioning games offer an effective method of in-season conditioning for rugby league players. In addition, given that skills learned from skill-based conditioning games are more likely to be applied in the competitive environment, their use may provide a practical alternative to traditional conditioning for improving the physiological capacities and playing performance of rugby league players.  相似文献

Maximal aerobic power was measured for 5-6 successive years in 50 Japanese schoolboys starting from the age of 9 or 13 yr. and for 2-3 yr in 6 superior junior runners from the age of 14 yr. A large increase in aerobic power was observed during the adolescent growth spurt for 7 schoolboys who trained between the ages of 9 and 14 yr. Aerobic power for 43 average schoolboys increased from 45.0 to 52.2 ml/kg.min between the ages of 13 and 17 yr. The aerobic power of 6 superior junior runners increased from 63.4 to 73.4 ml/kg.min between the ages of 14 and 17 yr. A remarkable increase in aerobic power was not observed in trained boys before the age of peak height growth velocity (PHV). Beginning approximately 1 yr prior to the age of PHV and thereafter, training effectively increased aerobic power above the normal increase attributable to age and growth. The highly developed aerobic power found in superior junior runners may have been derived from strenuous training and partially by genetically superior endowment.  相似文献

Meteorites probably played a central role in the evolution of life. Due to the structure, they tend to adsorb organic compounds and catalyze a variety of organic reactions critical to scenarios of life’s origins. We have shown experimentally that extraterrestrial minerals can catalyze the formation of peptides and nucleotides, thus, lending support to the RNA world hypothesis. This theory proposes that life based on RNA preceded the modern life, which is based on DNA and proteins. The present study was performed onboard different Russian space stations (Bion, Cosmos, and Mir) with various duration, altitude, and radiation conditions. Irradiation of solid samples, free or admixed with certain minerals, is the major task of future space flight experiments, planned for performing onboard Russian space satellite Bion-10M. ABSTRACT: BACKGROUND: Migraine is one of the most frequent headache diseases and impairs patients' quality of life. Up to now, many randomized studies reported efficacy of prophylactic therapy with medications such as beta-blockers or anti-epileptic drugs. Non-medical treatment, like aerobic endurance training, is considered to be an encouraging alternative in migraine prophylaxis. However, there is still a lack of prospective, high-quality randomized trials. We therefore designed a randomized controlled trial to evaluate the efficacy of aerobic endurance training versus relaxation training in patients with migraine (ARMIG). METHODS: This is a single-center, open-label, prospective, randomized trial. Sixty participants with migraine are randomly allocated to either endurance training or a relaxation group. After baseline headache diary documentation over at least 4 weeks, participants in the exercise group will start moderate aerobic endurance training under a sport therapist's supervision at least 3 times a week over a 12-week period. The second group will perform Jacobson's progressive muscle relaxation training guided by a trained relaxation therapist, also at least 3 times a week over a 12-week period. Both study arms will train in groups of up to 10 participants. More frequent individual training is possible. The follow-up period will be 12 weeks after the training period. The general state of health, possible state of anxiety or depression, impairments due to the headache disorder, pain-related disabilities, the headache-specific locus of control, and the motor fitness status are measured with standardized questionnaires. DISCUSSION: The study design is adequate to generate meaningful results. The trial will be helpful in gaining important data on exercise training for non-medical migraine prophylaxis. ABSTRACT: BACKGROUND: This study investigated two different mathematical models for the kinetics of anaerobic power. Model 1 assumes that the work power is linear with the work rate, while model 2 assumes a linear relationship between the alactic anaerobic power and the rate of change of the aerobic power. In order to test these models, a cross country skier ran with poles on a treadmill at different exercise intensities. The aerobic power, based on the measured oxygen uptake, was used as input to the models, whereas the simulated blood lactate concentration was compared with experimental results. Thereafter, the metabolic rate from phosphocreatine break down was calculated theoretically. Finally, the models were used to compare phosphocreatine break down during continuous and interval exercises. RESULTS: Good similarity was found between experimental and simulated blood lactate concentration during steady state exercise intensities. The measured blood lactate concentrations were lower than simulated for intensities above the lactate threshold, but higher than simulated during recovery after high intensity exercise when the simulated lactate concentration was averaged over the whole lactate space. This fit was improved when the simulated lactate concentration was separated into two compartments; muscles + internal organs and blood. Model 2 gave a better behavior of alactic energy than Model 1 when compared against invasive measurements presented in the literature. During continuous exercise, model 2 showed that the alactic energy storage decreased with time, whereas model 1 showed a minimum value when steady state aerobic conditions were achieved. During interval exercise the two models showed similar patterns of alactic energy. CONCLUSIONS: The current study provides useful insight on the kinetics of anaerobic power. Overall, our data indicates that blood lactate levels can be accurately modeled during steady state, and suggests a linear relationship between the alactic anaerobic power and the rate of change of the aerobic power.  相似文献

This study investigated training loads, injury rates, and physical performance changes associated with a field conditioning program in junior and senior rugby league players. Thirty-six junior (16.9 [95% confidence interval: 16.7-17.1] years) and 41 senior (25.5 [23.6- 27.3] years) rugby league players participated in a 14-week preseason training program that included 2 field training sessions each week. Subjects performed measurements of standard anthropometry (height, body mass, and sum of 7 skinfolds), muscular power (vertical jump), speed (10-, 20-, and 40-m sprint), agility (L run), and maximal aerobic power (multistage fitness test) before and after training. Improvements in agility, muscular power, and maximal aerobic power were observed in both the junior and senior players following training; however, the improvement in maximal aerobic power and muscular power were greatest in the junior players. Training loads and injury rates were higher in the senior players. These findings demonstrate that junior and senior rugby league players adapt differently to a given training stimulus and that training programs should be modified to accommodate differences in training age.  相似文献

根据湖滨带生态系统的特点,运用综合健康指数法建立了湖滨带生态系统健康评价体系,由目标层、准则层、指标层构成,其中准则层由湖滨带水质状况、底泥状况、植被状况、其它生物状况(浮游动物、浮游植物、底栖动物)、岸带物理状况5项组成,指标层由总氮、总磷、溶解氧、挺水植物覆盖率等15项指标构成。采用专家打分法、熵值法分别确定了准则层、指标层的权重系数。对太湖湖滨带33个点位进行了采样分析,并进行无量纲化处理后应用到所建立的评价体系中。评价结果显示33个点位中为"很健康"、"健康"、"亚健康"、"疾病"、"严重疾病"的分别占0%、24.2%、21.2%、51.5%及3.0%,也即超过一半的点位处于"疾病"状态。只有东太湖刚刚超过"健康"分数的下限,东部沿岸、贡湖、南部沿岸均处于"亚健康"状态,而梅梁湾、竺山湾、西部沿岸属于"疾病"状态,且竺山湾的生态健康状态最差。该评价结果与太湖湖滨带各分区的实际调查情况相符合,评价方法可靠性、可行性较强,可为其它湖泊湖滨带的生态系统健康评价提供一定的参照。  相似文献
