Hechtia glauca andHechtia iltisii are described as new and illustrated. Among the Bromeliaceae H. glauca is unusual in its glabrous, glaucous leaf surfaces. Inflorescence and floral dimorphisms are discussed forH. glauca andH. iltisii. A key to species ofHechtia from Novo-Galiciana and adjacent parts of Michoacan is included.  相似文献

Abelia occidentalis, related to A. coriacea Hemsley and distinguished by its larger flowers, curved trichomes, and elliptic thin leaves, is described and illustrated.  相似文献

Two new species ofRhynchospora from Mexico are described and illustrated. The white-bractedR. oaxacana is clearly a member of subsectionLongibracteatae which is otherwise found only in South America. A key to all the species of that subsection is provided. The thickened achene summit and slightly sunken style base appear to placeR. durangensis in sectionHarveyae.  相似文献

Two closely related new species ofEupatorium,E. tamaulipanum from southeastern Tamaulipas andE. xalapanum from central Veracruz, are described herein. The latter is diploid with 2n=20. Their relationship appears to be with the genusEupatoriastrum (subtribe Critoniinae, sensu Robinson and King), but an equally good case might be made for inclusion in the generaChromolaena, Bartlettina, orTamaulipa of subtribes Praxelinae, Hebecliniinae, and Gyptidinae respectively, as circumscribed by King and Robinson. While their splintered treatment ofEupatorium, and the Eupatorieae generally, often provides unequivocal “generic” placement of known or newly described species, many others appear to be rather arbitrarily placed, including some whose possible generic positions might include three or more of their subtribal groupings.  相似文献

Solanum malacothrix S. Knapp is described from the slopes of the Sierra Madre del Sur in the Río Balsas drainage in the state of Guerrero. It is apparently rare, and has been collected only twice. Its relationship to other species in Mexico and northern South America is discussed.  相似文献

Two species ofCymopterus are described as new:Cymopterus douglassi from the Lost River and Lemhi ranges of central Idaho and the closely relatedC. williamsii from the southern half of the Big Horn Mountains, Wyoming. Both are diploid on the basex=11 and occur on calcareous or dolomitic substrates. The mature fruit ofCymopterus williamsii differ from those ofC. douglassii in the absence of a functioning carpophore and in having 1, not 3–5 oil tubes in the intervals. Both species are unusual in the genus, though not unique, in that the dorsal ribs of the mericarps are not winged.  相似文献

Two new species of Sicyos from Mexico are described and illustrated: Sicyos cordifolius from the state of Guerrero, which belongs to the group with dry, armed fruits, and Sicyos bulbosus from the state of Oaxaca, which belongs to the group with fleshy, unarmed fruits. Sicyos cordifolius is quite different from the rest of the species previously described. Although S. bulbosus is very similar to S. galeottii Cogn., it is clearly different in receptacle shape and size.  © 2004 The Linnean Society of London, Botanical Journal of the Linnean Society , 2004, 145 , 373–378.  相似文献

Geonoma atrovirens and G. supracostata (sect. Taenianthera ) (Arecaceae) from the western Amazon are described and illustrated. Both species are described on material hitherto included in the widespread G. macrostachys s.l., a species complex of understory palms represented in most parts of the Amazon region. Geonoma atrovirens resembles entire-leafed forms of Geonoma macrostachys var. macrostachys but differs form that taxon in having extremely narrow, bluish green leaves, and a different structure of its staminate flowers. Geonoma supracostata differs from all forms of G. macrostachys in the combination of an usually well developed aerial stem and moderately dissected leaves with the veins sharply raised alternately on the adaxial and the abaxial side of the lamina. A key to the species of Geonoma sect. Taenianthera in the western Amazon is provided.  相似文献

A new species,Erigeron astranthioides, apparently endemic to the Sierra Madre of central Durango, is described and illustrated. It is contrasted withE. forreri (Greene) Greene andAstranthium, both of which are similar, though apparently through convergence. The new species is part of a lineage that includes six other primarily epapposeErigeron species mostly from the western Sierra Madre; within this group its closest relative appears to beE. mimus (S. F. Blake) Nesom, with which it is compared.  相似文献
