Zusammenfassung Im Speichel der Rhynchoten gibt es verschiedene Verdauungsenzyme, die eine weitgehende Anpassung hinsichtlich der Art der Nahrung aufweisen und bei der Verdauung wichtig sind. Zugleich gibt es im Rhynchotenspeichel auch Pflanzenwuchs hemmende Stoffe Auxine und Viren, die alle Krankheitszustände bei den Nahrungspflanzen verursachen welche ihrerseits die Lebensbedingungen der Schädlinge fördern.
Summary The above article is a short survey of the relation between the salivary secretions of the Hemiptera and their host plants.In analyses of the composition secretions in the salivary glands of phytophagous Homoptera and Heteroptera, the most extensive work has been done on the digestive enzymes. Proteases, amylases, saccharase, maltase, pectinase and lipase have been detected, but most commonly only 2–3 of these occurs in any one species. An adaptation of the enzyme complement to the diet is evident and in this respect the feeding site used by the insect is especially decisive to the enzyme composition of the saliva. Proteases and amylases occur in the saliva of mesophyll feeders, but are absent in phloem feeders, for which they are useless because, from the insect's point of view, the food is already digested. The adaptation of the salivary enzymes to the nature of the food seems to be largely inherited for a diet containing nothing but sucrose does not induce adaptive changes in the enzyme content of the salivary glands. By contrast, papain seems to be transferred from a synthetic food to the salivary glands.The disease symptoms caused in plants by the salivary toxins of Homoptera and Heteroptera have many similarities to those caused by abnormal amounts of growth hormones. Indole-tri-acetic acid has been detected in extracts of crushed aphids and leafhoppers, although no growth stimulating hormones have been detected in salivary glands dissected from several heteropterous bugs and one aphid. On the contrary, substances inhibiting plant growth exist in the salivary glands of many Heteroptera and in at least one aphid. In some experiments with a heteropterous bug, indole-triacetic was observed to have been transferred from a synthetic diet to the salivary glands. It seems possible that auxins, enzymes and other phytotoxic substances occurring in the salivary glands of insects may at last in some cases originate from the host plant and are not produced by the insect.The salivary enzymes without doubt play an important role in the digestion of the insects secreting them. They are important also in the differentation of Homoptera and Heteroptera to different modes of life. The auxins or auxin inhibitors, as wel as all phytotoxic substances in the salivary glands of Homoptera and Heteroptera are significant for these animals by changing the physiological state of the host plant in such a direction that its suitability as a source of food increases.

BACKGROUND: Intraductal papillomas are rare, benign tumors most commonly encountered in minor salivary glands. They are cystic, solitary neoplasms that arise from ductal epithelium and produce painless swellings. CASES: Two cases arose in major salivary glands. The first case was a superficial, firm mass at the superior edge of the parotid, cytologically evocative of an adnexal tumor. A firm, submandibular mass in the second case was diagnosed as a papillary neoplasm. Fluid was aspirated from both cases. Three-dimensional epithelial clusters, some with a papillary configuration and histiocytes, were the main cellular components. The majority of cells showed oncocytic differentiation; however, benign-appearing ductal cells in honeycomb sheets were also present. The first case also had occasional cells suggestive of sebaceous differentiation. The excised lesions were unilocular cystic papillary neoplasms consistent with intraductal papilloma; focal sebaceous differentiation was noted in the first case. CONCLUSION: Awareness of the cytologic features of intraductal papilloma of the salivary glands should prompt its inclusion in the differential diagnosis of papillary lesions of the head and neck.  相似文献

The study of digestive and salivary proteases of Rhapactor biparticeps, has shown that the salivary glands of this insect are rich in proteolytic enzymes, however, the gut has none. The characterisation of these enzymes on different substrates showed that they are only active on fibrinogen and plasmatic proteins which are involved in the coagulation system. Among these fibrinolytic enzymes that has been identified and characterized, are the plasminogen activators. Their unexpected presence in the entomophagic insect is discussed.  相似文献

Podisus nigrispinus (Dallas) is a common predator in agricultural and natural systems in Neotropical America. Its feeding strategy involves extra-oral digestion and to better understand this process its salivary glands were extracted and subjected to morphological and preliminary enzyme characterization. The salivary glands of P. nigrispinus are formed by a pair of main and accessory gland complexes. The main salivary glands are further divided into an anterior and a posterior lobe. The compartmentalization of the salivary gland complex is likely to be important for the production, activation and release of the digestive enzymes used in the extra-oral digestion of prey items. Proteases and lipase, important digestive enzymes involved in zoophagy, were detected in the salivary glands of P. nigrispinus. The prevailing trypsin-like protease activity was characterized by using the serine-protease substrate N-alpha-benzoyl-L-Arg-p-nitroanilidine (L-BApNA) and the trypsin inhibitors tosyl-L-lysine chloromethyl ketone (TLCK) and benzamidine. The KM value obtained for trypsin-like activity was 1.57 mm and the different peaks of optimum pH and temperature activity suggest the presence of multiple forms of this enzyme in P. nigrispinus. Detection of amylase activity in the salivary glands of this predator suggests its ability to digest starch and obtain nutrients from plants, which may have adaptative value under prey scarcity.  相似文献

The salivary glands of Panorpidae usually exhibit distinct sexual dimorphism and are closely related to the nuptial feeding behavior. In this study, the salivary glands of Neopanorpa longiprocessa were investigated using light microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The salivary glands are tubular labial glands and consist of a scoop-shaped salivary pump, a common salivary duct, and a pair of salivary tubes. The male and female salivary glands are remarkably different in the bifurcation position of the common salivary duct and the length and shape of the secretory tubes. Compared with the simple female salivary glands, the male’s are more developed as their paired elongated salivary tubes can be divided into two parts, the glabrate anterior tube and the posterior tube with many secretory tubules. The ultrastructural study shows that the male salivary tubes have strong secretory function. The existence of different secretion granules indicates that there are some chemical reactions or mixing occurring in the lumen. Based on the ultrastructural characteristics, the functions of the different regions of the salivary tube have been speculated. The relationship between the salivary glands and nuptial feeding behavior of N. longiprocessa has been briefly discussed based on the structure of the salivary glands.

Experiment on male rats has shown that acute stress suppressed amylase and superoxide dismutase activity in the submandibular salivary glands. The influence of short repeated stresses weakened the inhibiting effect of the acute stress on the activity of enzymes. At various regimens of the secretory activity in the palatile salivary glands, changes occurring in the transversal profiles of the postcapillary venules, but not of the blood capillaries, are most noticeable. Under food stimulation of secretion, the former dilate essentially, that can demonstrate certain functional hyperemia developing in the palatine salivary glands. Some previous experiments concerning interpretation of principles on the microcirculatory bed spatial organization give a good reason to suggest that dilatation of the postcapillary venules is connected with an increased blood perfusion in the canals of the preferrable blood stream. The postcapillary dilatation is possible because blood from the precapillaries gets into the capacitance blood microvessels and its volume at that moment is greater than the capacity of the venous microvessels. A suggestion is made that filtrative function of the palatile salivary glands depends on development of the functional hyperemia. It is possible, that this mechanism is universal, since owing to it, reflectory reactions of the salivary glands directed to the immediate secure of the oral cavity with a necessary amount of liquor become possible.  相似文献

Synopsis The distribution and activities of some hydrolytic enzymes in various portions of the sebaceous glands of the domestic cat have been studied. The results point to the outstanding importance of non-specific esterases and lipases for sebum production, which generally appears to be abundant in thickly-haired mammals. The activities of the lysosomal enzymes demonstrated were connected with autolytic processes during sebaceous gland cell differentiation. There was a strong arylsulphatase reaction in the sebum of the sebaceous gland excretory ducts.  相似文献

Ovarian cycle in albino rats was applied to ascertain the problem of the relationship between the salivary and endocrine glands, and also of the extent of participation of individual components of the salivary glands with different functional orientation in the endocrine regulation of individual components of the salivary glands. The content of protein, mucopolysaccharides, DNA, and RNA, the activity of NAD- and NADP-diaphorase, alkaline phosphatase, malate and isocitrate dehydrogenase, alpha-leucine-aminopeptidase was studied. Cytospectrophotometric analysis showed that synchronous changes in the activity of the enzymes under study occurred in all the portions of the salivary glands, depending on the ovarian cycle phases. Of the four successive phases of the cycle the greatest activity of the enzymes and of the protein and mucopolysaccharide content was noted during the proestrus and metaestrus. Different metabolic processes were observed in the salivary ducts in comparison with other parts of the gland; this was apparently connected with peculiarities of the secretion and hormone production.  相似文献

Naphthyl esterase and platelet-activating factor (PAF)-acetylhydrolase activities were detected in the salivary glands of the cat flea, Ctenocephalides felis. Salivary naphthyl esterase activity is disgorged during exploratory probing. Whole extracts of salivary glands contain esterase activity against the short-chain naphthyl esters alpha-naphthyl acetate (approximately 210pmol/min/gland pair; 10.0micromol/min/mg specific activity; K(m) approximately 59microM) and beta-naphthyl acetate (approximately 110pmol/min/gland pair; 5.2micromol/min/mg specific activity; K(m) approximately 132microM). Salivary gland extracts have PAF-acetylhydrolase activity (approximately 5pmol/min/gland pair; 0.24micromol/min/mg specific activity) but do not have detectable acetylcholinesterase activity. Native-PAGE and IEF resolve three and six salivary gland naphthyl esterase bands, respectively, and both patterns are different from carcass esterases. Salivary gland naphthyl esterase activity binds reversibly to Concanavalin A, and enzymatic deglycosylation with glycopeptidase F produced a new, fast-migrating salivary gland naphthyl esterase band on Native-PAGE. Renaturation of esterase activity after SDS-PAGE gave approximately 56kDa, approximately 57kDa and approximately 58kDa naphthyl-esterase-positive bands. On gel filtration naphthyl esterase and PAF-acetylhydrolase activities co-elute as a single peak with an apparent molecular weight of approximately 59kDa. This partially purified pool of enzyme had esterase activity against a series of short-chain alpha- and beta-naphthyl esters. The heterogeneity of salivary gland esterases, their relationship to PAF-acetylhydrolase, and the possible physiological functions of salivary gland PAF-acetylhydrolase activity are discussed.  相似文献

The secreted carbonic anhydrases, CA VI, are high molecular mass, oligomeric enzymes originally found in the sheep parotid gland and saliva. The enzymes have been purified from the saliva or parotid glands of several different species. All the CA VI enzymes studied have an apparent subunit Mr of about 45,000 as previously reported for the sheep enzyme. By Western analysis, CA VI from human, cow and dog cross-reacted with antibody raised against the purified sheep enzyme whereas that of the mouse did not. The N-terminal sequences of the sheep, human, cow and mouse enzymes are reported. The sheep, cow and human N-terminal sequences are similar to one another while the mouse sequence is substantially different. Nevertheless, the amino acids in the aromatic cluster I (Trp-5, Tyr-7, Trp-16 and Tyr/Phe-20) have all been conserved, as is the case with the cytoplasmic carbonic anhydrases. Eighteen tissues from the sheep have been examined for the presence of CA VI by Western analysis but it has been found only in the salivary glands. Northern analysis and hybridization histochemistry show that the mRNA for CA VI in sheep is expressed specifically in the acinar cells of the parotid and submandibular glands.  相似文献

Summary Dorsal tubercle and skin of Mertensiella caucasica have been investigated with the electron microscope and enzyme histochemical methods. The epidermis of the tubercle consists of 8–9 cell layers, that of normal dorsal skin of 5–6. The tubercle is filled with large mucous glands which are surrounded by an almost complete layer of smooth muscle cells (myoepithelial cells). Their glandular cells undergo cyclical changes and are characterized by specific secretory granules, which differ from those of the relatively small mucous glands of the normal dorsal skin.In the connective tissue of the tubercle a relatively rich supply of nerve fibres has been found, which in part contain synaptic and dense core vesicles or accumulations of mitochondria. In the normal dorsal skin nerve fibres occur less frequently.The following enzymes have been demonstrated in the mucous glands of the tubercle: SDH, acid phosphatase, unspecific esterases, E 600 resistant esterase.The tubercle seems to stimulate the female cloaca chemically and mechanically.  相似文献

The relictual Mastotermes darwiniensis is one of the world's most destructive termites. Like all phylogenetically basal termites, it possesses protozoa in its hindgut, which are believed to help it digest wood. L. Li, J. Frohlich, P. Pfeiffer, and H. Konig (Eukaryot. Cell 2:1091-1098, 2003) recently cloned the genes encoding cellulases from the protozoa of M. darwiniensis; however, they claimed that these genes are essentially inactive, not contributing significantly to cellulose digestion. Instead, they suggested that the protozoa sequester enzymes produced by the termite in its salivary glands and use these to degrade cellulose in the hindgut. We tested this idea by performing gel filtration of enzymes in extracts of the hindgut, as well as in a combination of the salivary glands, foregut, and midgut. Three major cellulases were found in the hindgut, each of which had a larger molecular size than termite-derived salivary gland enzymes. N-terminal amino acid sequencing of one of the hindgut-derived enzymes showed that it was identical to the putative amino acid sequence of one mRNA sequence isolated by Li et al. (Eukaryot. Cell 2:1091-1098, 2003). The overall activity of the hindgut cellulases was found to be of approximately equal magnitude to the termite-derived cellulases detected in the mixture of salivary gland, foregut, and midguts. Based on these results, we conclude that, contrary to Li et al. (Eukaryot. Cell 2:1091-1098, 2003), the hindgut protozoan fauna of M. darwiniensis actively produce cellulases, which play an important role in cellulose digestion of the host termite.  相似文献

Histochemical techniques were applied to salivary glands removed from adult multimmate rodents (Praomys) of either sex to detect and localize the following enzymatic activities: acid and alkaline phosphatase, arylsulphatase, ali-esterases, beta-glucuronidase, N-acetyl-betaglucosaminidase, and L-leucyl-aminopeptidase. No reaction was observed for alkaline phosphatase and glucuronidase. The glands reacted differently to the other enzymatic activities. Alkaline phosphatase and glucosaminidase were present only in one glandular type whereas arysulphatase and esterases were present in all types although demonstrating a variable staining intensity in different glands. Sharp differences in some enzymatic activities of the submandibular and parotid glands were related to the sex of the animal.  相似文献

Investigations have been made on the feeding mechanism, structure of the gut, and digestive physiology of the European lobster Homarus gammarus (L.).Ciné-photography has shown that the mandibles do not possess a masticatory function, merely serving to grip food morsels during the tearing process effected by the pulling action of the third maxillipeds. The remaining maxillipeds, together with the maxillae, then direct food fragments to the mouth for ingestion.Ingestion is facilitated by mucoid secretions discharged from the oesophageal tegumental glands; the glands do not appear to produce any enzymes which directly contribute to the digestive processes.The hepatopancreas is the principal organ concerned with digestion. It possesses a complex tubular organization in which sequential cellular differentiation culminates in the discharge of enzymes from the B-cells for extracellular digestion in the cardiac stomach. The enzymes are synthesized within vacuoles contained in the B-cell precursors (F-cells) and are secreted in three bursts of activity at 0–15 min, 1–2 h, and 3.5–5 h after a meal. The initial secretory phase is holocrine. Extracellular digestion involves esterases, arylamidases, and lipases; endopeptidases have not been positively identified by histochemical means despite the fact that Homarus is a carnivore. There is an intracellular digestive phase, not previously described in decapod crustaceans, at the 7–9 h post-ingestive stage in the hepatopancreatic R-cells which is effected by arylamidases and lipases.Various phosphatase enzymes have been identified in the hepatopancreatic cells. Acid and alkaline phosphatases are apparently concerned with several stages in the digestive cycle, including enzyme synthesis and secretion, and the absorption of digestive products. Adenosine triphosphatase activity is primarily associated with granules located in the distal R-cell cytoplasm; the possible significance of these granules in the elimination of metabolic wastes is discussed. Acid phosphatases and esterases are present in the midgut epithelium. The possibility of a passive uptake of material from the midgut lumen is considered.Faecal material in the hindgut is bound by mucoid secretions derived from the tegumental glands of this alimentary region; the mucus may also assist in defaecation.A complete digestive cycle in Homarus occupies ≈ 12 h.Food reserves in the gut consist principally of fat deposits in the R-cells, but minute amounts of glycogen can also be detected.No evidence of calcium, copper or ferric iron deposition in any part of the alimentary tract was found.  相似文献

Microbial carbohydrate esterases deacetylating plant polysaccharides   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
Several plant polysaccharides are partially esterified with acetic acid. One of the roles of this modification is protection of plant cell walls against invading microorganisms. Acetylation of glycosyl residues of polysaccharides prevents hydrolysis of their glycosidic linkages by the corresponding glycoside hydrolases. In this way the acetylation also represents an obstacle of enzymatic saccharification of plant hemicelluloses to fermentable sugars which appears to be a hot topic of current research. We can eliminate this obstacle by alkaline extraction or pretreatment leading to saponification of ester linkages. However, this task has been accomplished in a different way in the nature. The acetyl groups became targets of microbial carbohydrate esterases that evolved to overcome the complexity of the plant cell walls and that cooperate with glycoside hydrolases in plant polysaccharide degradation. This article concentrates on enzymes deacetylating plant hemicelluloses excluding pectin. They are currently grouped in at least 8 families, specifically in CE families 1–7 and 16, originally assigned as acetylxylan esterases, the enzymes acting on hardwood acetyl glucuronoxylan and its fragments generated by endo-β-1,4-xylanases. There are esterases deacetylating softwood galactoglucomannan, but they have not been classified yet. The enzymes present in CE families 1–7 differ in structure and substrate and positional specificity. There are families behaving as endo-type and exo-type deacetylates, i.e. esterases deacetylating internal sugar residues of partially acetylated polysaccharides and also esterases deacetylating non-reducing end sugar residues in oligosaccharides. With one exception, the enzymes of all mentioned CE families belong to serine type esterases. CE family 4 harbors enzymes that are metal-dependent aspartic esterases. Three-dimensional structures have been solved for members of the first seven CE families, however, there is still insufficient knowledge about their substrate specificity and real physiological role. Current knowledge on catalytic properties of the selected families of CEs is summarized in this review. Some of the families are emerging also as new biocatalysts for regioselective acylation and deacylation of carbohydrates.  相似文献

罹患头颈部肿瘤的患者在接受放射治疗时往往会发生放射性唾液腺损伤。射线的照射使患者唾液腺结构破坏、功能减退,患者的生活质量严重下降。对于放射性唾液腺损伤,临床上尚无有效的治疗方式。骨髓来源细胞(bone marrow-derived cells,BMDCs)最早用于治疗血液系统疾病。随着对BMDCs认识的逐渐深入,BMDCs的应用领域日益广泛。近些年来,一些动物实验的研究结果表明,利用BMDCs治疗放射性唾液腺损伤能够有效地保护腺体内各种实质细胞,促进腺组织再生,恢复唾液腺功能。本文主要对利用BMDCs治疗放射性唾液腺损伤的治疗方式、治疗效果及其主要的治疗机制进行综述,并对该领域今后的研究方向进行了展望。  相似文献

Ixodes ticks harbour several human pathogens belonging to the order Rickettsiales, including Anaplasma phagocytophilum, the agent of human anaplasmosis. When ticks feed on A. phagocytophilum-infected mice, the pathogen enters the ticks' gut. The bacteria then migrate from the gut to infect the salivary glands of the ticks and are transmitted to the next host via the saliva. The molecular mechanisms that enable the migration of A. phagocytophilum from the gut to the salivary glands are poorly understood. Here we show that a secreted tick protein, P11, is important in this process. We show that P11 enables A. phagocytophilum to infect tick haemocytes, which are required for the migration of A. phagocytophilum from the gut to the salivary glands. Silencing of p11 impaired the A. phagocytophilum infection of tick haemocytes in vivo and consequently decreased pathogen infection of the salivary glands. In vitro experiments showed that P11 could bind to A. phagocytophilum and thus facilitate its infection of tick cells. This report provides new insights into A. phagocytophilum infection of ticks and reveals new avenues to interrupt the life cycle of Anaplasma and related Rickettsial pathogens.  相似文献

Functional morphology of different zones of submandibular glands of albino rats was studied quantitatively with due regard for the stages of neuroendocrine system involution. It is shown that function of salivary glands during ageing is not altered; cyclic fluctuations with estral cycle phases are maintained similarly to those in young animals. But the basal level of proteins and mucopolysaccharides is reduced, their mean levels being equal to the minimal level in young animals. On the other hand, activation of enzymes responsible for energy and transport processes takes place and their relationships change. The data obtained prove the relationship between salivary and endocrine glands and confirm the viewpoint that in early age involution disintegration occurs between different parameters of the functional activity of salivary glands rather than there take place changes in their function.  相似文献
