A global performance evaluation of an experimental Horizontal SubSurface Flow Constructed Wetlands (HSSF) was made after 6 years of functioning. This wetland is situated in French prealpine mountain, at 720 m elevation. The HSSF process treatment consists in a three-stage system dimensioned for 350 People Equivalent. Different helophytes were planted such as Typha latifolia, Phragmites australis and Scirpus maritimus. The mean hydraulic residence time for sewage was closed to 4–5 days, but in summer the mean pollutant residence time increases to 6 days due to an important evapotranspiration. There is no clogging of the gravel matrix and the hydraulic conductivity was very good and stabilized. Removal pollutant efficiency was determinate at each stages. There was a high removal of total suspended solids (TSS) all year around with an average of 95.6% (±3.6). More than 80% of removal occurred in the first stage. Physical processes (decantation, filtration) associated with biological oxidation were the principal factors of this removal. For COD and BOD5, removal efficiency in the first stage were close to 60% on average and more than 90% at the outlet of the wetland. These results are similar to those observed with SSFW in many cases. Influence of temperature seems very weak because there were no significant seasonal variations of the process efficiency. Minimum effluent quality standards (30 mg l–1 TSS; 120 mg l–1 COD; 40 mg l–1 BOD5) were always respected. In cold periods, nutrients uptake was reduced but remained up to 60% in average. Mean bacterial removal efficiency was about two order of magnitude (99%) but can reach up to five order of magnitude in summer. These cyclic variations follow a sinusoidal variation around an annual mean. Pollutants removals were correlated to their respective loadings and no limits has been observed except for nitrogen. These results confirm that SSFW, an ecotechnology, should be considered as an alternative to conventional treatment methods (activated sludge, fixed biofilm) for small communities even in mountainous area.  相似文献

In comparison with other European countries, constructed wetlands may still be considered a recent technology in Spain. A survey of the systems treating urban wastewater in this country revealed that over 80% of subsurface-flow constructed wetlands have been built over the last 5 years, horizontal systems (HF-CW) alone or in combination with other unit processes such as ponds being the most widespread type. Organic loads ranged from 0.8 to 23, from 22.8 to 29.8 and from 3.6 to 16.7 g BOD m−2 day−1 for HF-CW (alone), vertical systems (VF-CW) and combined systems (HF-CW with other unit processes), respectively. The performance of such systems in terms of BOD5 removal generally ranged from 80 to 95% in all cases (HF-CW, VF-CW and combined systems), whereas COD removal was slightly lower, ranging from 50 to 95%, 80 to 95% and 50 to 90% for the HF-CW, VF-CW and combined systems, respectively. Furthermore, the TSS removal rate ranged from 70 to 95% for combined systems and from 85 to 95% for HF-CW (alone). The systems were not very efficient in terms of nutrient removal (nitrogen and phosphorus), with total average removal efficiencies around 40–50%. In general terms, the analysis of constructed wetlands in Spain shows that although they operate with higher loads than in other European systems, their performance in terms of organic matter and nutrient removal is in the range of that described in previous studies.  相似文献

A level of water quality intended for human consumption does not seem necessary for domestic uses such as irrigation of green spaces. Alternative water supplies like the use of greywater (GW) can thus be considered. However, GW contains pathogenic microorganisms and organic compounds which can cause environmental and health risks. As the risks related to recycling are unknown, GW treatment is necessary before reusing. To describe the risks related to GW reuses, the scientific approach performed in this study was to characterize domestic GW in order to select an appropriate treatment. The biotechnology chosen is a Horizontal sub-surface flow constructed wetland reactor. In order to minimize health risks, an optimization step based on UV disinfection was performed. The treatment performances were then determined. The treated GW produced in this study reached the threshold values expected by the Moroccan regulation for irrigation of green spaces with treated wastewater. Indeed, the COD and the TSS obtained in treated GW without disinfection are respectively 16.6 mg O2 L?1 and 0.40 mg L?1. The horizontal sub-surface flow constructed wetland (HSSF CW) reactor has been used to treat 1.2 m3/d of GW for 100 days. Three lawn plots have been irrigated respectively with raw GW, treated GW and tap water as a reference. Contrary to the lawn plot irrigated with raw GW, the risk analysis performed in this study has shown no significant difference between the law plots irrigated with treated GW combined with UV disinfection and the one irrigated with tap water. Overall, UV disinfection treated GW produced from the HSSF CW reactor developed in this experiment is thought to be an effective and feasible alternative for agricultural reuse.  相似文献

The potential of reed beds to act as biofilters of pathogenic and environmental mycobacteria was investigated through examination of the fate of mycobacteria in a constructed reed bed filtering effluent from a large captive wildfowl collection. Particular emphasis was placed on the presence and location of Mycobacterium avium – the causal agent of avian tuberculosis (ATB) – in an effort to clarify the potential role of reed beds in the control of this disease. Water, sediment, and stems and roots of common reed ( Phragmites australis ) and greater reedmace ( Typha latifolia ) were taken from 15 locations within the reed bed plus sites upstream and downstream. Samples were analysed for mycobacteria using PCR and specifically for M. avium using nested PCR. Environmental mycobacteria were found throughout the entire reed bed but M. avium was not found downstream of the first vegetation growth. The reed bed was found to effectively remove M. avium from the water through a combination of sedimentation and adsorption onto vegetation stems. The results of this study show that constructed reed beds composed of a settlement lagoon and one or more vegetation beds can act as valuable and ecologically friendly tools in the environmental control of ATB.  相似文献

The Aquatic Warbler (Acrocephalus paludicola) is a song bird breeding in fen mires and similarly structured other wetlands with a water depth of 1–10 cm. Widespread in central-European wetlands at the beginning of the 20th century, the species is now globally threatened. The westernmost and genetically distinct Pomeranian population is even on the verge of extinction. The major challenge in the conservation of remaining habitat is the cost-efficient removal of biomass. About 50% of the Pomeranian population survives in a valley fen near Rozwarowo in Northwest Poland, where between 1993 and 2007 a conspicuous change in breeding habitat has taken place from summer grazed sedge meadows to commercial winter cut reed beds. We compared vegetation structure, site conditions, and potential prey abundance with the distribution and abundance of Aquatic Warblers in Rozwarowo Marshes and studied temporal changes and the compatibility of conservation and reed cutting interests. Aquatic Warblers now occur almost exclusively in sparsely growing, low reed with abundant Thelypteris palustris, Carex elata, and Lysimachia vulgaris. This vegetation type provides more potential prey for Aquatic Warblers than the higher productive tall reed, whereas the patches of sedge vegetation have become too small following succession after abandonment. Currently, commercial reed cutting maintains suitable Aquatic Warbler breeding habitat. Considering the impending changes in the reed market, there is a need for flexible agri-environmental schemes (AES) to ensure that stripes are left uncut and to prevent eutrophication by high and long flooding of the site.  相似文献

Community assembly filters, which in theory determine the suite of species that arrive at and establish in a community, have tremendous conceptual relevance to restoration. However, the concept has remained largely theoretical, with a paucity of empirical tests. As such, the applicability of assembly filters theory to ecological restoration remains incompletely known. We tested the relative strengths of dispersal and establishment filters by comparing the plant species composition, measured by species' presence/absence, in 29 restored prairies with the seed mixes used to restore each prairie. We found that both establishment and dispersal filters limited prairie similarity to the seed mix. Sown species responded differentially to filters, with a few species limited only by dispersal (seed density), many others limited only by establishment conditions (i.e. organic matter and sand content of soils, land use history, and fire frequency), and others limited by both dispersal and establishment filters. A few species, typically those sown most often, were not restricted by dispersal or establishment filters, likely because they were sown in high enough densities and all sites had suitable environmental conditions. Finally, one group of species established poorly, but we could not attribute this to either dispersal or establishment filters. This information can help land managers select species likely to establish in restorations when sown at sufficient densities. These results illustrate that dispersal and establishment filters limit the establishment of species in restored communities and these filters are species‐dependent. Identifying the most limiting filter(s) for species will inform strategies to increase their establishment success.  相似文献

A sorption process for the removal of phosphate was evaluated under various conditions using a filter bed packed with giant reed (GR) based adsorbent. FTIR spectrum measurement validated the existence of grafted amine groups in the adsorbent and Raman spectrum displayed the characteristic peaks of different forms of phosphate. The column sorption capacity of the adsorbent for phosphate was 54.67 mg g−1 in comparison with the raw GR of 0.863 mg g−1. Influent pH demonstrated an essential effect on the performance of the filter bed as compared to other influent conditions (flow rates and influent concentrations) and the optimal pH was selected at 5.0-10.0. Eluents of HCl, NaOH and NaCl solutions with concentrations of 0.01-0.1 mol l−1 showed the excellent capacities for desorption of phosphate from the adsorbent, and their elution processes could be finished in 90 min.  相似文献

AIM: To study the relationship between the nature of the substratum and the diversity and stability of the ammonia-oxidizing microbial community in a constructed wetland for the treatment of wastewaters. METHODS AND RESULTS: Samples have been taken the year around from sections of the wetland filled with different substrata. When present, the root zones of the helophyte Phragmites australis were also sampled. The diversity of the ammonia-oxidizing community was established by a coupled PCR-DGGE method based on the 16s rRNA gene. Averaged over the seasons, no large differences in community composition were observed between the different substrata, although the section with zeolite always showed the highest frequencies of bands belonging to ammonia-oxidizing bacteria of the beta-subclass of the Proteobacteria. Only sequences related to the Nitrosospira lineage were detected. Averaged again over the seasons, the section with zeolite was also most constant with respect to the potential ammonia-oxidizing activity. CONCLUSIONS: Although the ammonia-oxidizing communities did not differ significantly between the different sections of the constructed wetland, the characteristics of zeolite were most appropriate to accommodate a stable and active community of ammonia-oxidizing bacteria. The presence of the helophyte had no effect on the diversity and stability of the ammonia-oxidizing community. SIGNIFICANCE AND IMPACT OF THE STUDY: It has been shown that substrata used in constructed wetlands made no distinction between ammonia-oxidizing strains in relation to attachment. However, zeolite had the best performance with respect to activity over the seasons.  相似文献

The effect of hydraulic loading rate (HLR) and hydraulic retention time (HRT) on the bioremediation of municipal wastewater using a pilot scale subsurface horizontal flow constructed treatment wetland (HFCTW) vegetated with Cyprus papyrus was investigated. Different HLRs were applied to the treatment system namely 0.18, 0.10, and 0.07 m3/m2. d with corresponding HRTs of 1.8, 3.2, and 4.7 days, respectively. The flow rate was 8 m3/d, and the average organic loading rate (OLR) was 0.037 kg BOD/m3/d. Results showed that the performance of the HFCTW was linearly affected by decreasing the HLR and increasing the HRT. The highest treatment efficiency was achieved at HRT (4.7 days) and HLR (0.07 m3/m2. d). The percentage reductions of chemical oxygen demand (COD), biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), and total suspended solids (TSS) were 86%, 87%, and 80%, respectively. Satisfactory nutrient removal was obtained. Also, removal of 2–3 logs of bacterial indicators of pollution was achieved. The dry biomass of Cyperus was 7.7 kg/m2 and proved to be very efficient in nitrification processes due to high diversity of the roots that increase the treatment surface area.  相似文献

Constructed wetlands are widely recognized as an economical, efficient and environmentally acceptable means to treat many different types of wastewater. Six systems have been constructed in Slovenia for the treatment of landfill leachates. This paper describes the early stages of two treatment systems operating from 1990 to 1993 that were used to treat leachates from municipal landfills. System S1 consisted of a sedimentation lagoon and a 600 m2 reed bed. System S2 was designed with a sedimentation lagoon and two reed beds (total=450 m2). The subsurface flow in both was horizontal and fluctuated widely in S2, but was a constant 0.2 1 s–1 in S1. Peat, soil, sand and gravel were in system S2, while gravel with a hydraulic conductivity of 5×10–4 m s–1, was in S1.The unanticipated fluctuations of hydraulic and organic loadings influenced their performance. The efficiency in reduction of organic matter, N, P, metals and fecal coliforms varied through the year. In 3 years of operation, the average removal efficiencies for COD, BOD5 and TSS were 38%, 61%, and 81%, respectively, in S1, and 53%, 45%, and 47%, respectively, in 1.5 years of operation for S2. The reduction of ammonium did not reach the effluent standard of 10 mg l–1 for either S1 or S2. As, Zn, Pb, and Cu accumulated in roots, and Cu, Fe, As, Ni and Pb accumulated in rhizomes after one year of operation in S2.  相似文献

为认识人工湿地运行初期根际土壤细菌群落的结构多样性,本研究采用聚合酶链式反应-变性梯度凝胶电泳(PCR-DGGE)的方法,比较了嘉兴石臼漾人工构筑生态湿地和白洋淀天然湿地府河河口区域芦苇根际土壤的细菌群落结构多样性。研究结果显示,嘉兴石臼漾湿地在运行初期(1~1.5年),根际土壤细菌的物种丰富度已与白洋淀湿地相近,但香农指数和均匀度指数均显著低于白洋淀湿地;随着污染物浓度的降低,土壤细菌群落基因型多样性指数增大。  相似文献

1999年1月~2003年12月对荣成人工湿地污水处理系统处理效果以及氮、磷去除效果的动态变化特征进行分析。结果表明,人工湿地对SS、COD、BOD均有很好的去除效果,出水浓度分别为27·8±6·7、91·0±13·7和23·8±4·6mg·L-1,去除率分别为71·8±8·4%、62·2±10·1%和70·4±9·6%。大肠菌群去除率为99·7%。对NH4+-N和TP去除效果较差,出水浓度分别为11·3±2·6和2·00±0·28mg·L-1,去除率分别为40·6±15·3%和29·6±12·8%。NH4+-N去除效果和季节变化有关,每年7~9月去除效果最佳,1~3月效果最差,去除率分别为50·7±12·4%和23·0±11·6%。TP的去除效果季节性变化不如NH4+-N明显。NH4+-N年平均去除率2001~2003年逐年增加。TP年平均去除率在2001和2002年基本相同,2003年有所降低。  相似文献

 The class I genes of the major histocompatibility complex (Mhc) are here investigated for the first time in a passerine bird. The great reed warbler is a rare species in Sweden with a few semi-isolated populations. Yet, we found extensive Mhc class I variation in the study population. The variable exon 3, corresponding to the α2 domain, was amplified from genomic DNA with degenerated primers. Seven different genomic class I sequences were detected in a single individual. One of the sequences had a deletion leading to a shift in the reading frame, indicating that it was not a functional gene. A randomly selected clone was used as a probe for restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) studies in combination with the restriction enzyme Pvu II. The RFLP pattern was complex with 21–25 RFLP fragments per individual and extensive variation. Forty-nine RFLP genotypes were detected in 55 tested individuals. To study the number of transcribed genes, we isolated 14 Mhc class I clones from a cDNA library from a single individual. We found eight different sequences of four different lengths (1.3–2.2 kilobases), suggesting there are at least four transcribed loci. The number of nonsynonymous substitutions (d N ) in the peptide binding region of exon 3 were higher than the number of synonymous substitutions (d S ), indicating balancing selection in this region. The number of transcribed genes and the numerous RFLP fragments found so far suggest that the great reed warbler does not have a "minimal essential Mhc" as has been suggested for the chicken. 某汽车零部件有限公司年产汽车铝合金轮毂200万只,每天产生酸性废水80m3、碱性废水524m3、含锌含铜废水181m3、含铬废水48m3和含镍废水40m3,生产废水总产生量为873m3·d-1。废水总镍、总锌、总铬、总铜、pH、氟化物和COD的变化范围分别是5.34~18.72mg·L-1、50.11~97.63mg·L-1、2.66~16.21mg·L-1、1.50~11.36mg·L-1、5.2~8.4、5.0~17.4mg·L-1、80.9~161.9mg·L-1。铝合金轮毂生产废水处理系统设计水量为1052m3·d-1,每个处理周期的运行时间为20h,系统运行稳定,连续30d出水均能达到广东省地方标准《水污染物排放限值》(DB44/26-2001)第二时段二级标准。  相似文献

黄河三角洲芦苇湿地生态系统碳、水热通量特征   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
利用涡度相关法对黄河三角洲芦苇湿地生态系统进行了连续两年的通量观测,对2009—2010年生长季芦苇湿地的净生态系统碳交换量(NEE),感热通量(Hs)和潜热通量(LE)数据进行了分析。结果表明,在日尺度上,芦苇湿地NEE日变化特征表现为两个CO2吸收高峰,分别出现在11:00和16:00左右,其特点是在午间出现了碳交换通量的降低。CO2吸收的日最大值在两个生长季出现的时间有所不同,分别出现在2009年7月(-0.30 mg CO2m-2s-1)和2010年6月(-0.37 mg CO2m-2s-1)。CO2排放的日最大值两个生长季均出现在9月,分别为0.19和0.25 mg CO2m-2s-1。Hs和LE的日动态均为单峰型,极值都出现在中午前后,生长季生态系统的能量消耗主要以潜热为主,且在日尺度上,热通量和NEE有显著的负相关关系。在季节尺度上,芦苇湿地生长季具有明显的碳汇功能,2009年生长季生态系统白天固定354.63 g CO2/m2,同时期夜间释放159.24 g CO2/m2,净CO2吸收量为-195.39 g CO2/m2。2009年整个生长季生态系统总初级生产力(GPP)为-651.13 g CO2/m2,生态系统呼吸(Re)为455.74 g CO2/m2,系统表现为碳汇。路径分析表明:光合有效辐射(PAR)显著影响NEE的日动态(R2=0.46—0.84),而NEE的季节动态主要受土壤温度的影响,降水和PAR的影响次之。  相似文献
