Thermoluminescence (TL) emission of dental ceramics could be potentially used for retrospective dosimetry purposes as this allows a quick and reliable dose assessment in case of nuclear accident or bad use of a nuclear attack. This paper reports on the chemical and luminescence characterization of glass, feldspathic and lithium disilicate glass ceramic (LS2). Swedish and Turkish dental ceramics supplied by Vivadent Ivoclar considering: (i) the dose response in the range 10 Gy to 6.9 kGy which displays a linear dose?response at low dose values up to 36 Gy (glass and feldspathic ceramics) and shows sublinear behavior from 12 Gy to 6 kGy (lithium disilicate glass ceramics), (ii) a reproducibility of the TL signal in which the area under the glow curve increased about 25% after 10 cycles for glass and lithium disilicate ceramics and increased about 30% after seven cycles for feldspathic ceramics, (iii) stability of the luminescence emission with the elapsed time and (iv) effect of the heating rate. Glass, lithium disilicate and feldspathic ceramics display a complex UV‐blue glow emission that can be respectively fitted to five and four groups of components assuming first‐order kinetics behavior.  相似文献

In the present work, glass samples in the (100 − x)B2O3xLi2O binary system, with x varying from 30 to 50 mol%, were prepared using the conventional melting and moulding method, with the main objective of evaluating the thermoluminescence response when exposing these materials to ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Complementary analysis based on density, optical absorption on the UV–visible region (UV–vis absorbance), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy on the medium region, X-ray diffraction, and differential thermal analysis measurements were performed. Thermoluminescence measurements of vitreous samples showed glow curves with at least one peak with a maximum temperature of ~170°C after exposure to UV radiation in the temperature range 50–250°C. Samples were also exposed to beta radiation in the temperature range 25–275°C, also showing single peaks with a maximum temperature of ~150°C.  相似文献

A recently developed mechanistic mathematical model of the bovine estrous cycle was parameterized to fit empirical data sets collected during one estrous cycle of 31 individual cows, with the main objective to further validate the model. The a priori criteria for validation were (1) the resulting model can simulate the measured data correctly (i.e. goodness of fit), and (2) this is achieved without needing extreme, probably non-physiological parameter values. We used a least squares optimization procedure to identify parameter configurations for the mathematical model to fit the empirical in vivo measurements of follicle and corpus luteum sizes, and the plasma concentrations of progesterone, estradiol, FSH and LH for each cow. The model was capable of accommodating normal variation in estrous cycle characteristics of individual cows. With the parameter sets estimated for the individual cows, the model behavior changed for 21 cows, with improved fit of the simulated output curves for 18 of these 21 cows. Moreover, the number of follicular waves was predicted correctly for 18 of the 25 two-wave and three-wave cows, without extreme parameter value changes. Estimation of specific parameters confirmed results of previous model simulations indicating that parameters involved in luteolytic signaling are very important for regulation of general estrous cycle characteristics, and are likely responsible for differences in estrous cycle characteristics between cows.  相似文献

The system identification method for a variety of nonlinear dynamic models is elaborated. The problem of identification of an original nonlinear model presented as a system of ordinary differential equations in the Cauchy explicit form with a polynomial right part reduces to the solution of the system of linear equations for the constants of the dynamical model. In other words, to construct an integral model of the complex system (phenomenon), it is enough to collect some data array characterizing the time-course of dynamical parameters of the system. Collection of such a data array has always been a problem. However difficulties emerging are, as a rule, not principal and may be overcome almost without exception. The potentialities of the method under discussion are demonstrated by the example of the test problem of multiparametric nonlinear oscillator identification. The identification method proposed may be applied to the study of different biological systems and in particular the enzyme kinetics of complex biochemical reactions.  相似文献

Data on doe longevity in a rabbit population were analysed using a semiparametric log-Normal animal frailty model. Longevity was defined as the time from the first positive pregnancy test to death or culling due to pathological problems. Does culled for other reasons had right censored records of longevity. The model included time dependent covariates associated with year by season, the interaction between physiological state and the number of young born alive, and between order of positive pregnancy test and physiological state. The model also included an additive genetic effect and a residual in log frailty. Properties of marginal posterior distributions of specific parameters were inferred from a full Bayesian analysis using Gibbs sampling. All of the fully conditional posterior distributions defining a Gibbs sampler were easy to sample from, either directly or using adaptive rejection sampling. The marginal posterior mean estimates of the additive genetic variance and of the residual variance in log frailty were 0.247 and 0.690.  相似文献

AIMS: To investigate the thermal biology of entomopathogenic fungi being examined as potential microbial control agents of Varroa destructor, an ectoparasite of the European honey bee Apis mellifera. METHODS AND RESULTS: Colony extension rates were measured at three temperatures (20, 30 and 35 degrees C) for 41 isolates of entomopathogenic fungi. All of the isolates grew at 20 and 30 degrees C but only 11 isolates grew at 35 degrees C. Twenty-two isolates were then selected on the basis of appreciable growth at 30-35 degrees C (the temperature range found within honey bee colonies) and/or infectivity to V. destructor, and their colony extension rates were measured at 10 temperatures (12.5-35 degrees C). This data were then fitted to Schoolfield et al. [J Theor Biol (1981)88:719-731] re-formulation of the Sharpe and DeMichele [J Theor Biol (1977)64:649-670] model of poikilotherm development. Overall, this model accounted for 87.6-93.9% of the data variance. Eleven isolates exhibited growth above 35 degrees C. The optimum temperatures for extension rate ranged from 22.9 to 31.2 degrees C. Only three isolates exhibited temperature optima above 30 degrees C. The super-optimum temperatures (temperature above the optimum at which the colony extension rate was 10% of the maximum rate) ranged from 31.9 to 43.2 degrees C. CONCLUSIONS: The thermal requirements of the isolates examined against V. destructor are well matched to the temperatures in the broodless areas of honey bee colonies, and a proportion of isolates, should also be able to function within drone brood areas. SIGNIFICANCE AND IMPACT OF THE STUDY: Potential exists for the control of V. destructor with entomopathogenic fungi in honey bee colonies. The methods employed in this study could be utilized in the selection of isolates for microbial control prior to screening for infectivity and could help in predicting the activity of a fungal control agent of V. destructor under fluctuating temperature conditions.  相似文献
