Human ovarian teratocarcinoma cells of line PA 1, (Zeuthen et al., 1979[1]) used as model for early embryonic cells, were analyzed for their in vitro capacity to convert steroids. The cells were incubated for 20 h with radioactive pregnenolone, progesterone, dehydroepiandrosterone, androstenedione, testosterone or estradiol-17 beta, or with non-radioactive progesterone, 6 alpha- or 6 beta-hydroxyprogesterone, 3 beta-hydroxy-5 alpha-pregnan-20-one, dehydroepiandrosterone or estradiol-17 beta. The metabolites were analyzed by thin layer chromatography or studied by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The results indicate that PA 1 cells are able to metabolize, although to a restricted amount, a variety of steroids, most markedly progesterone. The metabolites were almost exclusively found in the medium. The main metabolite of progesterone was 3 beta, 6 alpha-dihydroxy-5 alpha-pregnan-20-one. Minor formation of progesterone from pregnenolone could be detected. Human chorionic gonadotropin did not have any effect on pregnenolone metabolism. No formation of estradiol-17 beta or estrone from dehydroepiandrosterone, androstenedione or testosterone could be detected. However, estradiol-17 beta was shown to be converted mainly to estrone. These findings indicate that undifferentiated PA 1 teratocarcinoma cells like certain mouse teratocarcinoma cells, seem not to be steroidogenic but are capable of metabolizing naturally occurring steroid hormones and their precursors.  相似文献

Eight 2 year old Hereford cows from days 8 to 12 of the estrous cycle were injected intramuscularly with 5 ml of corn oil containing 5 mg of estradiol-17beta (two cows), estrone (two cows), progesterone (two cows) or testosterone (two cows). Each cow treated with estradiol received 494 microc of estradiol-17beta-6, 7 H3 and each cow treated with estrone received 492 microc of estrone-6, 7 H3. Each cow treated with progesterone or testosterone received 400 muc of H3 compound labeled in the 7 position. Total urine was collected by urethral catheterization of the cows treated with estrogens. Blood samples for plasma and serum were collected via jugular cannulae. Blood and urine samples from estrogen-treated cows were collected hourly for the first 24 hr, at 2 hr intervals for the next 26 hr, at 4 hr intervals for the next 12 hr and at 12 hr intervals until background was reached. Blood samples were collected hourly from 1 to 8 hr after injection from progesterone or testosterone-treated cows. Plasma and serum levels of radioactive estradiol-17beta, estrone, progesterone and testosterone were similar. Blood levels of radioactivity peaked at 2 hr post-injection in cows receiving estradiol-17beta and at 3 hr in cows receiving estrone. Blood levels of labeled estradiol-17beta and estrone were nondetectable by 54 hr and 83 hr, respectively. Peak urinary excretion of radioactivity was reached at 7 hr for estradiol-17beta and at 14 hr for estrone and nondetectable levels were reached by 95 hr for estradiol-17beta and 14 hr for estrone. At these times, 15.5% of the total dose of radioactive estradiol-17beta and 17.5% of the injected estrone had been excreted in the urine. Peak blood and urinary excretion levels were reached earlier for radioactive estradiol-17beta than for estrone, and excretion of estradiol-17beta was completed more rapidly. No difference was found in plasma and serum levels for any steroid studies; thus, endogenous steroid titers in blood plasma and serum are not different in the cow.  相似文献

Microsomal preparations derived from bovine placenta cotyledons, previously investigated as a convenient source of fatty acyl coenzyme A: estradiol-17 beta-acyl transferase, have been shown to acylate other steroids bearing 3 beta- or 17 beta-hydroxyl groups. In the presence of 0.1 mM oleoyl CoA, the apparent Km values for dehydroepiandrosterone, testosterone, and 5-androstene-3 beta,17 beta-diol (delta 5-DIOL) were 45, 67, and 20 microM, respectively. Acylation of delta 5-DIOL occurred at either the 3 beta- or 17 beta-positions to give monoesters. Testosterone, estradiol-17 beta, and delta 5-DIOL acted as competitive inhibitors for the acylation of the 3 beta-hydroxyl group of dehydroepiandrosterone (Ki values 71, 75, and 41 microM, respectively). Such data indicate that a single enzyme of wide substrate specificity may be involved in these acylation reactions. When estrogen receptor (ER) positive and negative human mammary cancer cell lines were incubated with 10 nM [3H]delta 5-DIOL, intracellular accumulation of delta 5-DIOL long-chain fatty acid esters occurred; rates being higher (p less than 0.001) in ER negative cells (MDA-MB-231 and MDA-MB-330) compared to MCF-7 cells (ER positive), and higher (P less than 0.005) in MDA-MB-231 cells compared to ZR-75-1 cells (ER positive). After exposure to 10 nM [3H]delta 5-DIOL for 16 h, the total labeled steroid fatty acid fraction was composed predominantly of delta 5-DIOL-3 beta- and 17 beta-monoesters (approximately 85%), the remainder containing approximately equal amounts of delta 5-DIOL-diesters and dehydroepiandrosterone-3 beta-esters. Subsequent transfer to medium lacking delta 5-DIOL was accompanied by a breakdown of the labeled esters, which was more rapid in the ER positive cell lines. During this period, intracellular free delta 5-DIOL levels rapidly declined in MDA-MB-330 cells but were maintained in MCF-7 cells, presumably by binding to ER. This behavior parallels that of estradiol-17 beta previously observed in these cell lines and further emphasizes the potential importance of the adrenal-derived estrogen delta 5-DIOL in consideration of a hormone-based etiology of human breast cancer.  相似文献

Blood samples collected from eight Braunvieh cows between the sixth and eighth month of gestation were allowed to stand with and without anticoagulant at 20 degrees C and 0 degrees C for different time periods. In these samples the degree of in vitro conversion of gestagens, androgens and estrogens was investigated. The concentrations were measured by radioimmunoassay. After 24 h at 20 degrees C, the levels of pregnenolone, progesterone, 17alpha-hydroxyprogesterone, androstenedione, dehydroepiandrosterone and estrone decreased to 62, 29, 25, 10, 34 and 44%, respectively, of the initial value and those of 17alpha, 20beta-dihydroxyprogesterone, epitestosterone and estradiol-17alpha increased to 385, 800 and 852%, respectively. The conversion was slower in clotted blood. The concentrations of testosterone and estradiol-17beta were consistent over the 24 h period. There was no marked decrease of the steroid concentration after 24 h of incubation of whole blood at 0 degrees C and of plasma at 20 degrees C. After the addition of (3)H-steroids, conversion could be demonstrated by thin-layer chromatography and autoradiography. These results demonstrate that all investigated hormones except testosterone and estradiol-17beta were metabolized by bovine blood cells.  相似文献

The solubility of the three steroid hormones, progesterone, testosterone, and estradiol-17 beta in water and phosphatidylcholine vesicles was measured after shaking and ultrasonication. All three steroids have low water solubility, which increases considerably at sonication for testosterone and estradiol-17 beta. The phosphatidylcholine vesicles have a very small solubilising capacity for the steroids; about 20 mumol/mol. This increases at sonication for estradiol-17 beta and decreases for testosterone. The capacity for progesterone is almost unaltered. The incorporation of cholesterol in the vesicles decreased the solubilisation capacity for testosterone and estradiol-17 beta but increased that for progesterone of shaked preparations. For the sonicated systems the cholesterol decreased the solubilising capacity for estradiol-17 beta but increased that for testosterone. The solubilisation experiments indicate that the steroid hormones are solubilised in the hydrocarbon part of the phosphatidylcholine bilayer and also 13CNMR results support this conclusion.  相似文献

In order to assess the extent of inhibition of testicular steroidogenesis during long-term treatment of prostatic cancer with GnRH agonist, we measured the intratesticular levels of 5 steroid sulfate conjugates in human testis tissue removed from patients after 6 months of intranasal treatment with buserelin. The most pronounced decreases were found in testosterone and pregnenolone sulfates, to 1.6 and 7.1%, respectively, of concentrations measured in testis tissue from primarily orchiectomized prostatic cancer patients. In contrast, clearly smaller decreases were found in three other steroid sulfates measured, those of dehydroepiandrosterone (to 26%), 17-hydroxyprogesterone (to 27%) and 5-androstene-3 beta, 17 beta-diol (to 62%). These results are in keeping with our previous analyses of unconjugated steroids in similar tissue samples, and indicate that testicular steroidogenesis per se is not totally blocked by long-term intranasal treatment with GnRH agonist. Testicular steroid sulfate conjugation may be specifically suppressed since the total concentration of these conjugates decreased more than free steroid levels in our earlier measurements.  相似文献

Several experimental studies have suggested that diet can alter the production and metabolism of steroids in men. The purpose of this study was to determine the levels of unconjugated steroids and steroid glucuronides as well as sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) among normal adult men who were either omnivorous or vegetarians. The participants were white volunteers ranging from 25-35 years of age and the blood samples were taken between 0900 h and 1000 h and between 1600 h and 1700 h for two consecutive days. No significant statistical change was found in plasma dehydroepiandrosterone, dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate, testosterone, dihydrotestosterone and estradiol levels. Vegetarian group showed a higher levels of sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) while the free androgen index (FAI; calculated by the ratio testosterone/SHBG) was lower in this group. Although the concentrations of androsterone glucuronide were higher in vegetarian group, the vegetarians had a 25-50% lower level of androstane-3 alpha, 17 beta-diol glucuronide and androstane-3 beta,17 beta-diol glucuronide. Our data further indicate that both, androstane-3 alpha,17 beta-diol glucuronide and androstane-3 beta,17 beta-diol glucuronide concentrations are significantly correlated with SHBG levels and with the FAI values. The increases in androstane-3 alpha,17 beta-diol glucuronide and androstane-3 beta,17 beta-diol glucuronide levels in the omnivorous group are probably a consequence of the elevation of the FAI. Our data suggest that in a vegetarian group, less testosterone is available for androgenic action.  相似文献

Steroids were administered continuously to guinea pigs and rats using subcutaneously applied silastic tubing implants, and the effects on circulating steroid and steroid conjugate levels were monitored. Using implants filled with pregnenolone, we observed that pregnenolone had a marked effect on increasing the levels of its fatty acid-esterified derivative, while dehydroepiandrosterone-releasing implants produced a rise in circulating nonconjugated dehydroepiandrosterone, androst-5-ene-3 beta,17 beta-diol, androstenedione, testosterone, and lipoidal derivatives of both dehydroepiandrosterone and androst-5-ene-3 beta,17 beta-diol. Implants filled with androstenedione produced a 20-fold increase in plasma androstenedione levels relative to untreated controls and a corresponding five-fold increase over control testosterone levels. No fatty acid-esterified derivative of testosterone could be detected within the plasma. Lipoproteins were isolated from both rats and guinea pigs treated with implants filled with pregnenolone or dehydroepiandrosterone. The steroid and steroid fatty acid esters present in each fraction were analyzed, revealing that approximately 75% of all the fatty acid esters of pregnenolone recovered in the lipoproteins was localized within the high-density lipoprotein (HDL) fraction of both guinea pig and rat plasma. Similarly, lipoidal dehydroepiandrosterone was found associated predominantly with the low-density lipoprotein and HDL fractions in the guinea pig, while in the rat this steroid conjugate was exclusively within the HDL fraction. High-density lipoprotein-incorporated tritiated pregnenolone fatty acid esters and dehydroepiandrosterone fatty acid esters were injected into castrated male guinea pigs to study the fate of these complexes.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)  相似文献

The high concentrations of dehydroepiandrosterone and its 3beta-sulfate in the blood are potential preocursors for further metabolism by normal and tumorous human mammary tissue. In vitro metabolism of 7n-3H- and 1,2,6,7(n)-3H-dehydroepiandrosterone by fifteen mammary tumors was examined. Some 10--50% of the radioactivity recovered was in the form of 7-oxygenated derivatives: the major metabolite being 7alpha-hydroxydehydroepiandrosterone accompanied by lesser amounts of the 7beta-epimer. 5-Androstene-3beta,17beta-diol was formed in all but one case. Evidence showed that the high yield of 7alpha-hydroxy derivative resulted from direct action of a 7alpha-hydroxylase capable of using both dehydroepiandrosterone and 5-androstene-3beta,17beta-diol as substrates. Although 5-androstene-3beta,17beta-diol competed with estradiol-17beta for the estrogen receptor, this property was considerably reduced as a consequence of the introduction of a 7alpha-hydroxyl or 16alpha-hydroxyl group. Dehydroepiandrosterone, which competed less effectively for the estrogen receptor site, showed almost no affinity for the site upon the introduction of a 7alhpa-hydrocyl group. A regulatory role for the 7alpha-hydroxylase is outlined.  相似文献

In this paper we report the effect of gonadectomy and/or long-term sex steroid (testosterone and estradiol-17beta) treatment and prolonged captivity (two months) on testosterone and estradiol-17beta binding proteins (TBP and EBP, respectively) in the plasma of the male of the green frog Rana esculenta. Experiments were carried out during different periods of the reproductive cycle. Gonadectomy and prolonged captivity were carried out in winter, when the spermatogenic activity slowed down and the concentration of circulating androgens was high. Both gonadectomy and prolonged captivity resulted in a significant decrease in TBP binding activity, which could not be restored by the hormonal treatment. On the contrary, when the hormonal treatment was carried out in the early summer, when the spermatogenesis was active but the concentration of circulating androgens was low, a significant increase in TBP binding activity was observed. Neither gonadectomy, nor the prolonged captivity, nor the hormonal treatment affected EBP levels. Our data indicate that TBP apparent changes in response to testosterone and estradiol-17beta treatment varied according to the period of the reproductive cycle, an indication that studies on sex steroid binding proteins regulation should take into consideration the internal endocrine condition before drawing any final conclusion especially in species with a seasonal mode of reproduction.  相似文献

In an attempt to assess histophysiological implication of the follicular compartment of the bovine ovary in steroid hormone formation and the effect of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) in vitro on follicular steroidogenesis, minces of follicular tissues from non-gravid bovine ovaries were incubated with radioactive testosterone or acetate in the presence and absence of hCG. Significant amounts of estrone and estradiol-17beta were formed on incubation with testosterone-4-14C; hCG decreased the conversion approximately by 30%. The major radioactive products formed from acetate-l-14C were androstenedione and testosterone with lesser amounts of dehydroepiandrosterone and 17-hydroxyprogesterone. In addition, small amounts of progesterone, 17-hydroxypregnenolone, estrone and estradiol-17beta were formed. Histology of the dissected follicle specimens was characterized by dominant theca cells undergoing luteinization with small amounts of granulosa cells, which showed neither proliferation nor luteinization. The pattern of distribution of radioactivity among the steroids formed from acetate-14C was considered to represent steroidogenic profile of bovine atretic follicles. The addition of hCG in vitro increased the overall incorporation of radioactive acetate into the steroids approximately by 50%, although the range of increase was not uniform in the individual steroids under the exprimental conditions.  相似文献

Different cellular fractions of guinea-pig placenta were incubated in the presence of (7n-3H) testosterone. Microsomal aromatization of 3H-testosterone into estrone and estradiol-17β was demonstrated in the presence of NADPH. The predominance of estrone after incubation with 17β-hydroxylated precursors, (7n-3H) testosterone and (6,7-3H) estradiol-17β, indicate that there is a microsomal 17β-hydroxysterold dehydrogenase activity. In this report, cytosolic sulfurylation of estrogens is demonstrated. This latter activity represents a quite original characteristic of the placental metabolism of estrogens in guinea-pigs. In contrast with the human placenta where there is considerable sulfatase activity, the guinea-pig placenta can sulfurylate estrogens.  相似文献

During storage at 4 degrees C, the 17 beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase activity of human placental microsomes with estradiol-17 beta was more stable than that with testosterone. In order to evaluate the basis for this difference, kinetics with C18-, C19-, and C21- steroids as substrates and/or inhibitors was studied in conjunction with an analysis of the effects of detergents. Both 17 beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (17 beta-HSD) and 20 alpha-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (20 alpha-HSD) activities were detected. At pH 9.0, apparent Michaelis constants were 0.8, 1.3, and 2.3 microM for estradiol-17 beta, testosterone, and 20 alpha-dihydroprogesterone, respectively, 17 beta-HSD activity with testosterone was inhibited by estradiol-17 beta, 5 alpha-dihydrotestosterone, 5 beta-dihydrotestosterone, 20 alpha-dihydroprogesterone, and progesterone. In each case 90 to 100% inhibition was observed at 50 to 200 microM steroid. Activity with 20 alpha-dihydroprogesterone was similarly sensitive to inhibition by C19-steroids. By contrast, 25 to 45% of the activity with estradiol-17 beta was not inhibited by high concentrations of C19- or C21-steroids and differed from the 17 beta-HSD activity with testosterone and the major fraction of that with estradiol-17 beta by being insensitive to solubilization by detergent. These results are consistent with an association of two dehydrogenase activities with human placental microsomes. One recognizes C18-, C19-, and C21-steroids as substrates with comparable affinities. The second appears to be highly specific for estradiol-17 beta. The former activity may account for most if not all of the oxidation-reduction at C-17 of C19-steroids and at C-20 of C21-compounds at physiological concentrations by term placental tissue.  相似文献

A very sensitive enzymeimmunoassay for testosterone was developed using testosterone-penicillinase conjugate and an antibody to testosterone-3-(O-carboxymethyl)oxime-bovine serum albumin. The specificity of the assay was demonstrated by the fact that estradiol-17 beta, estrone, estriol, progesterone, 17 alpha-hydroxy-progesterone, dehydroepiandrosterone, androstenedione, cortisol and cortisone were ineffective in crossreacting with testosterone while dihydrotestosterone was 8 times less crossreactive as compared to testosterone. The minimum detectable amount of testosterone was 10-15 pg per assay tube. Intra-assay and inter-assay coefficients of variation for samples containing 0.3-6ng/ml of testosterone were 6-8% and 8-10%, respectively. A high degree of correlation (r = 0.97) was observed between serum testosterone values obtained by enzymeimmunoassay and radioimmunoassay. The levels of testosterone in the sera of normal men and women and those in hypogonadal males following stimulation with human chorionic gonadotropin determined by this enzymeimmunoassay appear similar to those reported by other investigators.  相似文献

Plasma estradiol-17 beta and testosterone levels were assessed by radioimmunoassay during the sexual maturation of female amago salmon (Oncorhynchus rhodurus). Estradiol-17 beta levels gradually increased during vitellogenesis (June to September), reached a peak in September (about 16 ng/ml) and rapidly decreased in mature and ovulated fish (about 3-4 ng/ml) in October. The seasonal pattern of plasma testosterone levels lagged behind and followed that of estradiol-17 beta during vitellogenesis, but levels remained high in mature and ovulated fish (90-110 ng/ml). Estradiol-17 beta levels and the gonadosomatic index (GSI) values correlated well during vitellogenesis: GSI values showed a linear increase, and reached a peak (29.9 +/- 1.4) in October. Values were extremely low in ovulated fish (1.2 +/- 0.2). In vitro production of estradiol-17 beta and testosterone by ovarian follicles in response to partially purified chinook salmon gonadotropin (SG-G100) was examined monthly using 18-h incubations. Throughout the vitellogenic period SG-G100 stimulated both estradiol-17 beta and testosterone production: the steroidogenic response of follicles increased from June (about 2 ng/ml estradiol-17 beta; 0.1 ng/ml testosterone) to September (about 10 and 14 ng/ml, respectively). In October full-grown immature follicles which could be induced to mature in vitro by hormone treatment produced large amounts of testosterone (about 130 ng/ml) but not estradiol-17 beta. Postovulatory follicles also produced testosterone but the values were low (10 ng/ml) compared with full-grown immature follicles. Pure hydroxysteroid sulfotransferase (EC 2.8.2.2) of human adrenal glands possesses a wide substrate specificity towards steroids. This wide specificity has now been found to extend to simple alcohols; normal aliphatic alcohols from C3 onwards acting as substrates with C9 showing the highest rate. Increased rate was accompanied by a decrease in Km. In marked contrast to the sulfurylation of steroids such as dehydroepiandrosterone, which exhibit wave-like kinetics, the kinetics with simple alcohols were of the normal Michaelis-Menten type. By means of enzyme antibody and enzyme stability studies evidence was provided that one and the same enzyme was responsible for sulfurylation of hydroxyls on the 3- and 17- positions of steroids and simple alcohols. The data lend support to previous evidence that the enzyme controls the secretion of dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate via steroid-specific binding sites, enabling self-regulation in response to ACTH action.  相似文献

The metabolism of 7-(3)H-pregnenolone was studied in vitro using 16 human breast carcinomas. All mammary tumors transformed pregnenolone to progesterone. All estrogen receptor poor tumors and 4 out of 8 estrogen receptor rich tumors converted pregnenolone to 17-hydroxypregnenolone. Five estrogen receptor poor tumors showed the presence of 17,20-lyase as evidenced by formation of dehydroepiandrosterone and androstenedione. In two estrogen receptor poor tumors, conversions of pregnenolone to progesterone, 17-hydroxy pregnenolone, dehydroepiandrosterone, androstenedione and finally to estradiol was documented, providing a hypothetical pathway for steroid metabolism in human breast cancer. The conversion of pregnenolone to 17-hydroxypregnenolone was significantly less in receptor rich tumors and was totally absent in 4 receptor rich tumors with estrogen receptors of over 45 fmol/mg protein.  相似文献

The metabolism of dehydroepiandrosterone (DHA) and testosterone by both human breast carcinomata and dimethylbenzanthracene (DMBA)-induced rat mammary carcinomata has been investigated.The rat and human carcinomata converted DHA to testosterone and both DHA and testosterone to 5α-dihydrotestosterone, 5α-androstanediol and 16α-hydroxytestosterone. Tentative evidence is also presented to indicate that some rat adenocarcinomata can convert androgen precursors into estradiol-17β.Although quantitative differences between incubations occurred, the spectrum of steroid transformations was similar in both human and rat tumours. The DMBA-induced rat tumour may therefore prove to be a valuable experimental model for human carcinoma tissue with regard to further steroidogenic studies.  相似文献

Partial purification (approximately x 140-fold) of estrogen sulphotransferase (EC 2.8.2.4) in human mammary estrogen receptor positive cancer tissue was achieved by affinity chromatography on adenosine-3',5'-diphosphate-agarose. It had a Mr of approximately 70,000 by gel filtration and upon electrophoresis on concave gradient polyacrylamide gels, showed a major (Mr 70,000) and a minor (Mr 200,000) peak of activity. Kinetics of this preparation (estradiol-17 beta and estrone as substrates), and also that of hydroxysteroid sulphotransferase (EC 2.8.2.2) contained in the cytosol of human mammary cancer MCF-7 cells (5-androstene-3 beta,17 beta-diol and dehydroepiandrosterone as substrates), were compared. The enzymes showed very similar behaviour, characterized by high affinity for their steroid substrates (low nM range) and co-operativity in their binding. For hydroxysteroid sulphotransferase, the adrenal-derived estrogen 5-androstene-3 beta,17 beta-diol was the preferred substrate compared to dehydro-epiandrosterone in the 0-40 nM concentration range. Such properties of the enzymes might be designed to limit the exposure of nuclear receptor to free ligand. Alternatively, a defined subcellular location would perhaps involve the enzymes in the elimination of estrogen after processing of the ligand-bound receptor.  相似文献

In this cross-sectional study performed on 147 healthy or osteoporotic, but otherwise normal premenopausal (n = 26 and n = 13, respectively) or postmenopausal (n = 40 and n = 68, respectively) women aged 40.1+/-9.9 and 61.9+/-8.9 years, respectively (range 20-82 years), serum ovarian and adrenal sex steroids and their relationship to bone mineral density (BMD) were evaluated. The levels of dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEAS), dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), androstenedione (AD), and estradiol correlated positively with BMD at the hip and spine as did serum testosterone with BMD at the spine. An inverse relationship was found between sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) levels and BMD at the spine and hip. After adjustment for age, body mass, and sex steroid confounders, the bioavailable testosterone value (but not the DHEAS, DHEA, AD, or SHBG) values was demonstrated to be an independent determinant of BMD at the spine (beta 0.18, P<0.02) and hip (beta 0.24, P<0.02). Similarly, estradiol was found to be an independent determinant of BMD at the spine (beta 0.25, P<0.007). However, only SHBG levels (but not other steroid parameters) correlated positively with indices of bone remodeling, namely, serum osteocalcin and cross-linked telopeptide of type I collagen (ICTP). The present study suggests that a major decline in index of free testosterone (testosterone/SHBG) may influence the development of female osteoporosis. The clinical significance of circulating SHBG levels in the assessement of bone metabolic turnover remains to be established.  相似文献
