Five species of Minettia Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 from the South of China are described as new to science: Minettia (Minettiella) bawanglingensis sp. n., Minettia (Minettiella) clavata sp. n., Minettia (Minettiella) plurifurcata sp. n., Minettia (Minettiella) spinosa sp. n. and Minettia (Minettiella) tianmushanensis sp. n. Minettiella elbergi Shatalkin, 1996 and Minettia japonica Sasakawa, 1995 are treated as junior synonyms of Minettia (Minettiella) dolabriforma (Sasakawa & Kozánek, 1995). A key to five subgenera of Minettia and eleven species of Minettia (Minettiella) is presented.  相似文献

Highly diversified colorations among springtails (Collembola) have been widely used for species diagnosis, but their phylogenetic significance is poorly known. We addressed this issue in the largest Entomobryinae genus Entomobrya, which possesses variable color patterns among species. The relationships within the genus and to other genera have also rarely been studied. Based on material mainly from China, we have conducted a multilocus phylogeny and topology tests with likelihood and Bayesian algorithms, and accordingly demonstrated the non-monophyly of Chinese Entomobrya. The division of five clades, including Entomobrya and several related genera, coincided well with five types of colorations, respectively. Further analyses of divergence time and historical biogeography revealed that Chinese Entomobrya originated mainly from Palearctic (northern and western) China in the Paleocene and Eocene. This study highlights the great phylo? genetic values as well as taxonomic uses of coloration in Chinese Entomobrya. Multiple phylogenetic and biogeographic origins of Entomobrya imply its complicated relationships with both scaled and unsealed genera of Entomobryinae.  相似文献

Megophthalmidia Dziedzicki is a small leiine genus (Mycetophilidae) with seven species described from the Neotropics and ten species from the Palearctic region. Two species of Megophthalmidia have been reported for North America. Recent collecting of Mycetophilidae in California and Arizona, however, shows current North American diversity of Megophthalmidia is at least on par to other regions of the world. Eight new species of Megophthalmidia are described here, increasing the number of Nearctic Megophthalmidia species to nine. Included is a particularly atypical member of the genus, M. saskia sp. n., which expands the genus concept of Megophthalmidia. Of the two species previously recorded for North America, only one actually belongs in the genus. Megophthalmidia occidentalis Johannsen, is fully described and illustrated. The other named species, M. marceda (Sherman) is illustrated and transferred to the genus Ectrepesthoneura Enderlein. A lectotype is designated for this species. A key to the species of Megophthalmidia of North America is provided. The biology of these flies is not yet known. Three of the new Megophthalmidia species – M. lenimenta, M. misericordia, and M. radiata – are only known to occur within small protected areas within the California State Park and UC Natural Reserve systems.  相似文献

Five species of the subgenus Plesiominettia Shatalkin from the southern China are described as new to science: Minettia (Plesiominettia) flavoscutellata sp. n., Minettia (Plesiominettia) longaciculiformis sp. n., Minettia (Plesiominettia) nigrantennata sp. n., Minettia (Plesiominettia) tridentata sp. n. and Minettia (Plesiominettia) zhejiangica sp. n. One species, Minettia longistylis Sasakawa, is transferred to the subgenus Plesiominettia from Minettia s. str. A key to separate the known species of the subgenus is presented, along with a taxonomic list of species. The type materials of the new species are deposited in the China Agricultural University, Beijing, China (CAUC).  相似文献

A new species of rodent of the genus Phyllotis is described based in cranial and external morphology, as well as morphometric data. Additionally, sequences of the mitochondrial gene cytochrome-b were used to asses the phylogenetic relationships. We have compared our specimens with all the extant species of the genus Phyllotis and also with some species of related genera, particularly with the most similar and with those that occur in the province of Tucumán and northwestern Argentina. The new species is large compared to the average size of the genus, and can be easily distinguished from all other species essentially by coloration and by cranial morphology. It is closely related to the recently described P. anitae, and these two species are, in turn, sister to P. osilae. The only two localities where the new species has been found are in the Upper Montane Forests of the southern portion of the Yungas Ecoregion, in the province of Tucumán, Argentina.  相似文献

The Archiborborinae is a diverse Neotropical subfamily of Sphaeroceridae, with many undescribed species. The existing generic classification includes three genera consisting of brachypterous species, with all other species placed in the genus Archiborborus. We present the first phylogenetic hypothesis for the subfamily based on morphological, molecular, and combined datasets. Morphological data include 53 characters and cover all valid described taxa (33 species in 4 genera) in the subfamily, as well as 83 undescribed species. Molecular data for five genes (mitochondrial 12S rDNA, cytochrome c oxidase subunit I, and cytochrome B, and nuclear alanyl-tRNA synthetase and 28S rDNA) were obtained for 21 ingroup taxa. Data support the separation of the Archiborborinae from the Copromyzinae, with which they were formerly combined. Analyses support consistent groups within the subfamily, but relationships between groups are poorly resolved. The validity of the brachypterous genera Penola Richards and Frutillaria Richards is supported. The former genus Archiborborus Duda is paraphyletic, and will be divided into monophyletic genera on the basis of this work. Aptery and brachyptery have evolved multiple times in the subfamily. Antrops Enderlein, previously including a single brachypterous species, is a senior synonym of Archiborborus.  相似文献

We studied the evolution of colour pattern in Malagasy poison frogs, genus Mantella, a group of diurnal and toxic frogs endemic to Madagascar. Based on a phylogeny reconstructed using 1130 bp of the mitochondrial 16S rRNA gene, the genus can be divided into five species groups. Within some of these groups, interspecific genetic divergences were very low (1.2–2.8% sequence divergence) while colour patterns were markedly different. In contrast, Mantella madagascariensis and M. baroni, two species which show extremely similar dorsal coloration patterns, were not included in the same clade. This conclusion was supported by high bootstrap values and by significant rejection of alternative topologies using KH-tests. Analysis of colour patterns and tentative reconstruction of ancestral states yielded five character states shared by these two species but not by their respective sister species, M. aurantiaca and M. nigricans. Considering these detailed similarities as symplesiomorphic therefore requires the assumption of multiple reversals in other species, whereas a homoplastic colour evolution in the sympatric M. madagascariensis andM. baroni appears as most parsimonious. This parallelism may have been triggered by MÜllerian mimicry. However, additional data is necessary to support this hypothesis.  相似文献

New species of the genera Gymnothorax (fam. Muraenidae) and Parapercis (fam. Mugiloididae) are described from coastal waters of central Vietnam. G. emmae sp. n. is a common species all along the coast from the Van Phong Bay to the Phan Thiet Bay and differs from other species of this genus in characters of coloration, dentition, and the vertebral formula. P. bicoloripes sp. n. is common in the Phan Thiet Bay and is also know from one specimen from the Nha Trang Bay; from other species of the genus, it differs in coloration and meristic characters.  相似文献

The diagnosis of the genus Labidochromis is revised to include species with bicuspid outer teeth. Sixteen species, of which 13 are new, are described and illustrated and the validity of five others is discussed. The interrelationships between members of the genus and the relationship of the genus to other genera are discussed. No clearly defined sister group to the genus has been found either within or outside the Lake Malawi cichlid species flock. A key based on the coloration of known species is included.  相似文献

Analysis of the literature and GenBank data showed that the genus Ogataea is heterogeneous and includes at least five non-described genera. Comprehensive phylogenetic analysis of the present genus Ogataea may be conducted only based on multigene analysis of all the known species. Possibilities of molecular species identification in biogeographical and ecological studies of yeasts are discussed.  相似文献

A new genus of Urodidae, Geoesthia gen. nov., is described with the type species, Geoesthia ceylonica sp. nov. from Sri Lanka. This is the second urodid genus from the Oriental Region. The new species is the only urodid recorded from Sri Lanka. The new genus is distinguished from all the known genera within Urodidae by a combination of four characteristics: the lack of scale tufts on the labial palpi; the absence of raised scales of two subbasal spots on the forewings; the presence of M-stem on the hindwings; and the female corpus bursae bearing five signa. Key to the genera and species of Urodidae from the Oriental Region is provided.  相似文献

To evaluate the feasibility of morphological and genetic identification of the closely related species in the genera Misgurnus and Paramisgurnus, the morphological characters of four species in these genera and DNA barcoding of five loaches (P. dabryanus, M. anguillicaudatus, M. bipartitus, M. mohoity, and Barbatula toni) were investigated. Twelve morphological characters were measured in 542 individuals to perform the comparative analysis. Among these characters, only the caudal peduncle length (LCP) revealed significant difference (P < 0.05) among these four species. The clustering based on morphological characters formed two clusters (P. dabryanus and M. anguillicaudatus; M. bipartitus and M. mohoity). A total of 186 COI fragments for the five loaches investigated were sequenced and analyzed. The results showed that interspecific K2P distance was much higher than intraspecific distance within the five species. Bayesian inference of phylogeny showed that individuals of these species were divided into five specific clades. Meanwhile, the COI fragments exhibited 22 character attributes for the differentiation of the five loach species based on character-based method. Our results suggested that DNA barcoding based on COI can be used as an efficient identifier of these five loach species; the combination of distance-based method, Bayesian inference and character-based approach provides higher resolution of identification at species level.  相似文献

Acanthocephalans of the order Echinorhynchida are one of the most diverse groups in their phylum, with approximately 470 species classified into 11 families that largely consist of parasites of freshwater, brackish and marine fishes and, sporadically, reptiles and amphibians distributed worldwide. Previous phylogenies inferred with molecular data have supported the paraphyly or polyphyly of some families, suggesting that most of them have been diagnosed based on unique combinations of characters, rather than shared derivative features. We expand the taxonomic sampling of several genera such as Acanthocephalus, Echinorhynchus and Pseudoacanthocephalus of Echinorhynchidae from diverse biogeographical zones in the Americas, Europe and Asia with the aim of testing the monophyly of the family by using two molecular markers. Sequences from small (SSU) and large (LSU) subunits of ribosomal DNA were obtained for six species representing the genera Acanthocephalus and Echinorhynchus from the Neotropical, Nearctic, Palearctic and Oriental regions. These sequences were aligned with other sequences available in the GenBank dataset from Echinorhynchidae. Phylogenetic trees inferred with the combined (SSU + LSU) and the individual data sets consistently placed the genera Acanthocephalus, Pseudoacanthocephalus and Echinorhynchus into three independent lineages. Two families, Paracanthocephalidae Golvan, 1960, and Pseudoacanthocephalidae Petrochenko, 1956, were resurrected to accommodate the genera Acanthocephalus and Pseudoacanthocephalus, respectively. The species of the genus Acanthocephalus from the Nearctic, Palearctic and Oriental biogeographic regions formed a clade that was well supported. However, Acanthocephalus amini from the Neotropical region was nested inside Arhythmacanthidae. Therefore, the genus Calakmulrhynchus was created to accommodate A. amini and resolve the paraphyly of Acanthocephalus. Finally, the diagnoses of the families Echinorhynchidae and Arhythmacanthidae were amended. The molecular phylogenies should be used as a taxonomic framework to find shared derived characters (synapomorphies) and build a more robust classification scheme that reflects the evolutionary history of the acanthocephalans.  相似文献

Of the 16 genera of the subfamily Diplazontinae occurring in the Eastern Palearctic region, 11 genera are recognized from South Korea. Specifically, four genera (Campocraspedon Uchida, Diplazon Nees, Syrphoctonus Förster and Woldstedtius Carlson) are previously recognized from South Korea, whereas the other seven genera are recorded from this country for the first time. A key to the 16 genera of Diplazontinae occurring in the Eastern Palearctic region is provided. Six genera of Korean Diplazontinae (Bioblapsis Förster, Campocraspedon Uchida, Eurytyloides Nakanishi, Phthorima Förster, Promethes Förster and Sussaba Cameron) are reviewed here. Species of these genera rarely occur in the Eastern Palearctic region with small numbers of collected samples (excluding genus Sussaba). Here we provide diagnosis for seven species of Diplazontinae and one new species, Eurytyloides koreanus Balueva and Lee sp. nov. , has been described.  相似文献

Stenotaenia is one of the largest and most widespread genera of geophilid centipedes in the Western Palearctic, with a very uniform morphology and about fifteen species provisionally recognized. For a better understanding of Stenotaenia species-level taxonomy, we have explored the possibility of using molecular data. As a preliminary assay, we sampled twelve populations, mainly from the Italian region, and analyzed partial sequences of the two genes COI and 28S. We employed a DNA-barcoding approach, complemented by a phylogenetic analysis coupled with divergence time estimation. Assuming a barcoding gap of 10–16% K2P pairwise distances, we found evidence for the presence of at least six Stenotaenia species in the Italian region, which started diverging about 50 million years ago, only partially matching with previously recognized species. We found that small-sized oligopodous species belong to a single clade that originated about 33 million years ago, and obtained some preliminary evidence of the related genus Tuoba being nested within Stenotaenia.  相似文献

The monophyly of the muricid subfamily Rapaninae has recently been confirmed with molecular techniques, but its composition and the relationships among its constituent genera remain unclear. We use four genes (28S rRNA, 12S rRNA, 16S rRNA and cytochrome c oxidase subunit I, COI) to construct a Bayesian phylogeny of 80 rapanine species (73% of the approximately 109 currently accepted), representing 27 of the 31 nominal genera. This is the most complete phylogeny of this taxonomically confusing subfamily yet produced. We propose a revised phylogenetic classification of the Rapaninae, assigning the recognized species to 28 genera. Most of the morphologically-defined rapanine genera are considered valid, including Purpura, Drupa, Thais and Nassa, but many of them are here restricted or redefined so that they are monophyletic. In particular the familiar genus Thais is narrowly restricted to a single species. Many groups previously accepted as subgenera, including Mancinella, Vasula, Thalessa and Thaisella, are here accorded full generic rank. We describe one new genus, Indothais. While we do not formally alter species-level taxonomy, we show molecular evidence for two cryptic species and several instances of probable species synonymy. We estimate the age of diversification of the Rapaninae as Late Cretaceous (75.9 Ma) and of many of its genera as Miocene.  相似文献
