Significant increases (P less than 0.001) in plasma insulin and triglyceride concentrations and in blood pressure were seen when SHR and WKY rats ate a fructose-enriched diet for 14 days. However, all of the changes were significantly accentuated (P less than 0.02-0.001) in SHR rats. Specifically the increment in plasma insulin concentration following the fructose-enriched diet was 42 +/- 4 microU/ml in SHR as compared to 25 +/- 4 microU/ml in WKY rats (P less than 0.001). Plasma triglyceride concentrations also increased to a greater degree in response to fructose in SHR rats (260 +/- 24 vs. 136 +/- 20 mg/dl, P less than 0.001). Finally, the fructose-induced increase in blood pressure of 29 +/- 4 mm of Hg in SHR rats was greater (P less than 0.02) than that seen in WKY rats (19 +/- 2 mm of Hg). There was no change in plasma glucose concentration in response to the fructose diet. WKY rats gained more weight than did the SHR rats. Thus, although plasma triglyceride and insulin concentration and blood pressure increased when either WKY or SHR rats consumed a fructose enriched diet, the magnitude of these changes was greater in SHR rats.  相似文献

Overactivity of the sympathetic nervous system and immunologic dysfunction have been shown to contribute to development and maintenance of hypertension in the Okamoto spontaneously hypertensive rat (SHR). In this study, the combined effects of reduction in sympathetic activity and immunologic manipulation on spontaneous hypertension have been determined. Neonatal SHRs received sham implants or implants of thymic tissue from Wistar donor rats. In addition, the thymus-implanted SHRs underwent bilateral renal denervation when they were 6 weeks old. At the same time, the sham-implanted SHRs underwent sham renal denervation. The denervations or sham operations were repeated when the SHRs were 9, 12, 15, and 18 weeks old. Wistar-Kyoto (WKY) rats also underwent serial sham renal denervations. Tail-cuff pressure measurements indicated that approximately 75% of the chronic hypertension in the SHRs was prevented by the combination of thymic implants and renal denervations. Direct arterial pressure measurements confirmed these results; when the rats were 21 weeks old, mean arterial pressure averaged 177 +/- 5.5 mm Hg in sham-operated SHRs, 134 +/- 2.7 mm Hg in implanted, denervated SHRs, and 121 +/- 2.1 mm Hg in sham-operated WKY rats. These data indicate that overactivity of the sympathetic nervous system and immunologic dysfunction account for the majority of the hypertension in the Okamoto SHR.  相似文献

Converting enzyme inhibitors prevent the development of hypertension and normalize arterial blood pressure in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR), suggesting a critical role for angiotensin II in genetic hypertension. We hypothesized that the SHR is hyperresponsive to the slow-pressor effect of angiotensin II. To test this hypothesis, 14 SHR and 14 normotensive Wistar Kyoto rats (WKY) were treated chronically with captopril (100 mg X kg-1 X day-1 in drinking water) beginning at 5 weeks of age. At 9 weeks of age, either angiotensin II (125 ng/min; 7 SHR and 7 WKY) or vehicle (7 SHR and 7 WKY) was infused for 2 weeks via an osmotic minipump implanted into the peritoneal cavity. Captopril treatment was maintained and systolic blood pressure was monitored 3 times weekly. Although systolic blood pressure was similar in SHR and WKY infused with vehicle (101 +/- 2 versus 103 +/- 5 mmHg, respectively during the second week), systolic blood pressure in SHR treated with angiotensin II was much greater than systolic blood pressure in WKY treated with angiotensin II (193 +/- 9 versus 132 +/- 11 mmHg, respectively during the second week, p less than 0.001). These results indicate that compared to WKY, SHR are remarkably more sensitive to the slow-pressor effect of chronic, low-dose infusions of angiotensin II. Our results support the hypothesis that the critical genetic defect in SHR is a change in the sensitivity to the slow-pressor effect of angiotensin II.  相似文献

Cardiovascular effects of subcutaneous administration of synthetic alpha-lactorphin, a tetrapeptide (Tyr-Gly-Leu-Phe) originally derived from milk alpha-lactalbumin, were studied in conscious spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) and in normotensive Wistar Kyoto rats (WKY) with continuous radiotelemetric monitoring. Alpha-lactorphin dose-dependently lowered blood pressure (BP) without affecting heart rate in SHR and WKY. The lowest dose which reduced BP was 10 microg/kg, and the maximal reductions in systolic and diastolic BP (by 23+/-4 and 17+/-4 mm Hg, respectively) were observed at 100 microg/kg dose in SHR. No further reductions were obtained at a higher dose of 1 mg/kg. There were no significant differences in the BP responses to alpha-lactorphin between SHR and WKY. Naloxone (1 and 3 mg/kg s.c.), a specific opioid receptor antagonist, abolished the alpha-lactorphin-induced reduction in BP and reversed it into a pressor response, which provides evidence for an involvement of opioid receptors in the depressor action of the tetrapeptide.  相似文献

In our studies with spontaneously hypertensive (SHR), Wistar-Kyoto (WKY), and Wistar rats, we observed normotensive WKY rats with cardiac hypertrophy determined by a greater left ventricular (LV) mass (LVM)-to-body weight (BW) ratio (LVM/BW) than that of normotensive Wistar rats. Thus we compared the following parameters in SHR, WKY, and Wistar rats: LVM/BW, cell capacitance as index of total surface area of the myocytes, length, width, and cross-sectional area of cardiac myocytes, LV collagen volume fraction, and myocardial stiffness. The LVM/BW of WKY (2.41 +/- 0.03 mg/g, n = 41) was intermediate between SHR (2.82 +/- 0.04 mg/g, n = 47) and Wistar rats (1.98 +/- 0.04 mg/g, n = 28). A positive correlation between blood pressure and LVM was found in SHR, whereas no such relationship was observed in WKY or Wistar rats. Cell capacitance and cross-sectional area were not significantly different in SHR and WKY rats; these values were significantly higher than those of Wistar rats. The cell length was smaller but the width was similar in WKY compared with SHR. Papillary muscles isolated from the LV of WKY and SHR were stiffer than those from Wistar rats. Consistently, a greater level of myocardial fibrosis was detected in WKY and SHR compared with Wistar rats. These findings demonstrate blood pressure-independent cardiac hypertrophy in normotensive WKY rats.  相似文献

In spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) and their normotensive Wistar-Kyoto controls (WKY), prolonged intravenous administration of angiotensin II (AII, 0.2 microgram X kg-1 X min-1 for 3h) resulted in similar increases in arterial blood pressure. Heart rate decreased in WKY and increased in SHR. At the end of the infusion, blood pressure dropped substantially in SHR, but not in WKY: at 5 h after AII withdrawal, blood pressure in SHR had fallen from a control value of 172 +/- 3.3 to 146 +/- 3.9 mmHg (p less than 0.01), whereas pressure in WKY had fallen from 116 +/- 3.0 to 107 +/- 4.2 mmHg (statistically non significant). Thus, pressure at 5 h after AII withdrawal was still substantially higher (p less than 0.01) in the SHR than in the WKY. The results demonstrate that the fall in blood pressure following withdrawal of a prolonged infusion of AII in SHR is much less than that reported to occur following withdrawal of a prolonged infusion of vasopressin (AVP) in SHR.  相似文献

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of centrally administered baclofen on blood pressure and heart rate in conscious spontaneously hypertensive (SHR) and normotensive Wistar-Kyoto (WKY) rats. Administration of baclofen (1.0 microgram/kg) into the lateral cerebral ventricle (icv) produced an increase in mean arterial pressure (MAP) in both SHR and WKY rats. The increase in MAP was significantly lower in SHR (13 +/- 3 mmHg) when compared with WKY (27 +/- 5 mmHg). The changes in heart rate (HR) were variable, from no change to a very small increase and did not differ significantly between SHR and WKY rats. The ability of baclofen to interfere with baroreceptor reflexes was also tested in separate experiments. In SHR, icv injection of baclofen (1.0 microgram/kg) significantly suppressed the pressor response and bradycardia evoked by phenylephrine 3.0 micrograms/kg iv, whereas in WKY, the pressor and HR responses to similar injections of phenylephrine were not affected by icv baclofen. Similarly, baclofen treatment modified hypotensive response and reflex tachycardia induced by nitroprusside (10.0 micrograms/kg) iv in SHR but not in WKY rats. Administration of sympathetic ganglionic blocker hexamethonium (HEX; 25 mg/kg) iv produced an equivalent decrease in MAP between SHR and WKY following icv injection of baclofen (1.0 microgram/kg). These results suggest that the effects of baclofen on the baroreceptor reflexes in SHR may not be mediated by a change in peripheral sympathetic tone.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to ascertain whether drug-induced cholinergic hypofunction in the posterior hypothalamus would affect the development and the maintenance of hypertension in hypertensive rats. Spontaneously hypertensive (SHR) and Wistar Kyoto (WKY) rats were treated with AF64A, a neurotoxin which can irreversibly inhibit cholinergic transmission in vivo. AF64A or saline was injected bilaterally into the posterior hypothalamus of rats of two age groups: normotensive one month-old rats whose blood pressure was subsequently measured at the age of three months and hypertensive three month-old rats, whose blood pressure was measured four weeks later. In both age groups there was a significant fall in mean arterial blood pressure in SHR but not WKY rats. In SHR injected at the age of one month, there was a fall of at least 15.9 mm Hg, while in the rats injected at the age of three months there was a fall of 14.3 mm Hg. Heart rate in either strain was not affected. When AF64A was injected into the anterior hypothalamus of one month-old SHR, no antihypertensive effect was observed in these rats at the age of three months. These results show that cholinergic stimulation in the posterior hypothalamus may play a role in both the development and maintenance of hypertension in SHR.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to investigate nitric oxide (NO) production and L-NAME-sensitive component of endothelium-dependent vasorelaxation in adult normotensive Wistar-Kyoto rats (WKY), borderline hypertensive rats (BHR) and spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR). Blood pressure (BP) of WKY, BHR and SHR (determined by tail-cuff) was 111+/-3, 140+/-4 and 184+/-6 mm Hg, respectively. NO synthase activity (determined by conversion of [(3)H]-L-arginine) was significantly higher in the aorta of BHR and SHR vs. WKY and in the left ventricle of SHR vs. both BHR and WKY. L-NAME-sensitive component of endothelium-dependent relaxation was investigated in the preconstricted femoral arteries using the wire myograph during isometric conditions as a difference between acetylcholine-induced relaxation before and after acute N(G)-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester pre-treatment (L-NAME, 10(-5) mol/l). Acetylcholine-induced vasorelaxation of SHR was significantly greater than that in WKY. L-NAME-sensitive component of vasorelaxation in WKY, BHR and SHR was 20+/-3 %, 29+/-4 % (p<0.05 vs. WKY) and 37+/-3 % (p<0.05 vs. BHR), respectively. There was a significant positive correlation between BP and L-NAME-sensitive component of relaxation of the femoral artery. In conclusion, results suggest the absence of endothelial dysfunction in the femoral artery of adult borderline and spontaneously hypertensive rats and gradual elevation of L-NAME-sensitive component of vasorelaxation with increasing blood pressure.  相似文献

Urinary excretion of active kallikrein was determined every day (amidolytic assay) in 6 male Okamoto-Aoki spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) and 6 male normotensive Wistar-Kyoto rats (WKY) from ages 4 to 7 weeks and from 12 to 15 weeks. The rats were housed in individual metabolic cages and were allowed free access to food having normal sodium content and to tap water. Urinary kallikrein excretion was lower in 4-week-old SHR than in age-matched WKY (7.8 +/- 1.4 vs. 15.5 +/- 2.3 nkat/24 h respectively, P less than 0.01) at a moment when systolic blood pressure (BP) in SHR was already higher than in WKY. The slope of the increase in active kallikrein excretion from week 4 to 7 was not different for SHR and WKY (6.34 +/- 1.05 vs. 7.50 +/- 1.02 nkat/24 h-1 . wk-1 respectively). In contrast, from week 12 to 15, this slope was not significant for SHR (1.67 +/- 2.55 nkat/24 h-1 . wk-1) while it remained positive in WKY (7.36 +/- 3,44 nkat/24 h-1 . wk-1). In both SHR and WKY, urinary kallikrein excretion was directly related to BP from week 4 to 7 but the slope of the regression line was less for SHR than for WKY (0.19 +/- 0.05 vs. 0.48 +/- 0.12 nkat/24 h-1 . mm Hg respectively). Numerous studies concerning the cardiovascular system in SHR often yield controversial data. The background of this diversity has various roots, ranging from different vascular segments or areas studied up to the different age of experimental animals. Our study aimed to follow the BP as an integrated response of vascular system. This approach was justified since stabilized cardiac output in SHR was proved till 1 year of age. The groups of male SHR (aged 3, 5, 9, 17 and 52 weeks) and age-matched Wistar rats were used. Significant basal BP difference between SHR and Wistar rats was found at 9 weeks of age and continued till the age of 52 weeks, reaching 189.6+/-11.9 mm Hg in SHR and 117.3+/-6.9 mm Hg in Wistar rats P<0.01 . The significant difference in BP increase to two doses of noradrenaline 0.1 microg and 1 microg between SHR and control rats was also found at the age of 9 weeks. At 52 weeks the BP increment to two doses of noradrenaline was in SHR 19.7+/-2.0 mm Hg and 60.5+/-3.9 mm Hg and in Wistar rats 7.4+/-1.9 mm Hg and 40.5+/-3.2 mm Hg P<0.01 . The hypotensive response to acetylcholine 0.1 microg, 1 microg and 10 microg in SHR was enhanced at 17 weeks of age only and this amplification persisted till the age of 52 weeks. In 52-week-old SHR the hypotensive response to three doses was 69.9+/-10.2 mm Hg, 87.5+/-11.8 mm Hg and 103.4+/-10.6 mm Hg, while in Wistar rats it was 37.4+/-4.2 mm Hg P<0.01 , 62.3+/-3.5 mm Hg P<0.01 and 73.5+/-2.8 mm Hg P<0.05 . In conclusion, the efficiency of cardiovascular system of SHR to respond to noradrenaline was already enhanced from 9 weeks of age, whereas the response to acetylcholine was not augmented before the age of 17 weeks.  相似文献

The Spontaneously Hypertensive rat (SHR) and its non-hypertensive companion strain, the Wistar-Kyoto (WKY) rat, provide an excellent comparative model to permit study of the differential properties of cutaneous microvascular beds. We explored the possibility that chronically elevated vascular pressures in the SHR rat might affect the microvascular constitution of the skin. We measured skin blood flow at the back and at the paw of a group of 20-week-old WKY rats and a contrast group of SHR rats. We then performed skin biopsies at these two locations and used the NIH Image program to count and measure the size of capillaries, arterioles, and venules. We also determined microvascular density as percentage of total tissue area. At basal temperature, skin blood flow was similar in the two rat strains at both the back and paw. Heat induced vasodilatation resulted in a 50% increase in blood flow at the back, reaching the same level in the two rat groups. However, at the paw site, thermal stimulation resulted in significantly greater flow (39.3 +/- 3.1 ml/100 gm tissue per min) in the SHR rats than the WKY rats (28.6 +/- 1.9 ml/100 gm tissue per min, P < 0.05). The ratio of systemic arterial pressure to skin blood flow was computed as an index of vascular resistance to flow. At basal temperature, this index was 50% greater for the SHR rats at both skin sites. At 44 degrees C, the resistance index decreased at both sites in both rat groups but was still approximately 50% higher at the back of the SHR than the WKY rats. In contrast, the resistance index at 44 degrees C at the paw site fell to the same level in both the SHR and WKY rats. There were twice as many capillaries at the back of the WKY rats than at the back of the SHR rats (9.2 +/- 2.0 per mm2 vs. 4.7 +/- 1.2 per mm2, P < 0.05). Expressed as a percentage of total tissue area, the capillary density at the back in the WKY rats was 0.064 +/- 0.010% as compared to 0.034 +/- 0.008% in the SHR rats (P < 0.05). There were five times more arterioles at the paw compared to the back in both rat groups with no significant difference between the groups. We measured the diameter of the lumen and the thickness of the wall of each arteriole and computed their ratio as an index of possible media hypertrophy. There were minimal differences seen in these parameters between the two rat groups at the back and paw sites. The venular density was significantly higher at the paw than at the back in both rat groups with no significant difference between them. Reduced capillary density at the back of the SHR rats may be a developmental adaptation to high blood pressure. Such a reduction in the pathways of blood flow may help account for increased flow resistance at that site, independent of arteriolar vasoconstriction.  相似文献

Polyamines (putrescine, spermidine and spermine) play an important role in the development of hypertension and in the expression of atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP), a cardiac hormone involved in the regulation of blood pressure. Wistar Kyoto normotensive (WKY) and spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) were given spermine in drinking water (0.5%) for 15 days. The spermine intake elevated the blood pressures of both SHR and WKY rats and reduced the expression of ANP (Northern blotting) in the ventricles. ANP levels in the plasma determined by enzyme immunoassay (EIA) showed no changes in the levels of plasma ANP after spermine intake. An analysis of polyamines by high-pressure liquid chromatography showed that the levels of spermine and spermidine were elevated in SHR hearts. It was in SHR hearts alone that spermine intake was associated with increases in the levels of putrescine. The results suggest that spermine-induced increases in blood pressure may involve mechanisms other than ANP.  相似文献

Because kidney microangiopathy with capillary basement membrane thickening has been reported in spontaneous hypertension, we have studied the activities of three lysosomal glycosidases able to degrade the carbohydrate moieties of basement membrane constituents in the kidney cortex of 12-week-old spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) and age-matched normotensive Wistar Kyoto rats (WKY). These activities were also determined in SHR and WKY treated from 6 to 12 weeks of age with hydralazine (mean dose, 18 mg/kg per day in drinking water). Sialidase specific activity on sialyl-alpha 2-3-[3H]lactitol was markedly decreased in the kidney of untreated SHR, 40% activity remaining relative to that found in untreated age-matched WKY (p less than 0.001). beta-Galactosidase specific activity on p-nitrophenyl-beta-D-galactoside was also decreased, 86% activity remaining relative to that found in untreated WKY (p less than 0.001). Glucosyl-galactosyl-hydroxylysyl glucohydrolase specific activity on glucosyl-galactosyl-hydroxylysine was equally diminished, 74% activity remaining relative to that found in untreated age-matched WKY (p less than 0.001). In contrast, the activities of two control glycosidases inactive on the carbohydrate moieties of basement membrane constituents, alpha-glucosidase assayed with p-nitrophenyl-alpha-D-glucoside as substrate and beta-glucosidase assayed with p-nitrophenyl-beta-D-glucoside as substrate, were significantly increased. All the alterations in enzyme activities observed in the kidney of SHR were also present in the long-term treated normotensive SHR. No effect of the hydralazine treatment on the three enzyme activities investigated could be demonstrated in the WKY. Thus the alterations observed in the kidneys of SHR appear to be independent of blood pressure level.  相似文献

An effect of peptide released by the heart atria of mammals and called the atrial natriuretic factor (ANF) on blood pressure and heart contractions was studied in rats with genetically determined arterial hypertension (SHR) and in normotensive Wistar-Kyoto rats (WKY). Nine male SHR rats and 11 male WKY rats, aged between 12 and 16 weeks, were given normal saline infusion for 30 minutes through implanted catheters to both ulnar vein and artery. Then, an infusion of ANF at the rate of 0.3 microgram/kg per hour followed for 35 minutes. An infusion of ANF produces significant decrease in the mean arterial blood pressure, systolic and diastolic pressures without significant effect on pulse pressure and heart contractions. AFN infusion with the same rate did not produce any significant differences in the arterial blood pressure and heart contractions in Wistar-Kyoto rats. The obtained results suggest that ANF may play a role in pathogenesis of the arterial blood hypertension.  相似文献

Light to moderate drinking in humans lowers the risk of coronary heart disease and may lower blood pressure. We examined the effect of chronic low daily alcohol consumption on blood pressure, platelet cytosolic free calcium [Ca2+]i, tissue aldehyde conjugates and renal vascular changes in normotensive Wistar-Kyoto (WKY) and spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR). We also examined the effects of the same weekly amount of alcohol consumption over a one day period each week simulating weekend drinking in humans. Animals, age 7 weeks, were divided into six groups of six animals each and were treated as follows: WKY and SHR control, normal drinking water; WKY and SHR, 0.5% ethanol in drinking water; WKY and SHR, 3.5% ethanol in drinking water one day/week. After 14 weeks systolic blood pressure, platelet [Ca2+]i, liver, kidney and aortic aldehyde conjugates were significantly higher (p < 0.05) in untreated SHRs as compared to untreated WKYs. Daily 0.5% ethanol consumption in SHRs significantly (p < 0.05) attenuated these changes and also attenuated smooth muscle cell hyperplasia and narrowing of the lumen in small arteries and arterioles of the kidney. WKY rats treated with 0.5% ethanol had lower aldehyde conjugates without any significant effect on blood pressure and platelet [Ca2+]i as compared to WKY controls. Consumption of 3.5% ethanol one day/week did not affect blood pressure and associated changes in normotensive WKY rats or hypertensive SHRs as compared to their respective controls. These results suggest that chronic daily low ethanol intake lowers blood pressure in SHRs by lowering tissue aldehyde conjugates and cytosolic free calcium.  相似文献

The effects of antihypertensive factor (AHF) from erythrocytes of essential hypertensive human subjects on the systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR), renal hypertensive rats (RHR), Wistar-Kyoto rats (WKY) and Wistar rats were examined. Single intraperitoneal injection of AHF (1.6 mg/kg body weight) resulted in a significant decrease in SBP of SHR and RHR. At 10 min postinjection, AHF lowered the SBP in SHR by 34.0 mmHg. SBP recovered to the original level at 3 h. The maximal decrease of SBP in RHR by 92.5 mmHg was at 24h postadministration and the SBP did not recover until the 9th day. When AHF was administered via femoral vein (0.8 mg/kg body weight), the maximal decrease values of the SBP and the DBP were 42.8 and 48.2 mmHg in SHR at 12 min and 38.3 and 42.5 mmHg in RHR at 25 min postinjection respectively. The DBP in Wistar rats decreased considerably (from 96.7 +/- 12.9 to 83.3 +/- 11.7 mmHg) at 5 min postadministration of AHF, but no effect on DBP in WKY rats was observed. The depressor effect of AHF on SBP in RHR was dose-dependent. AHF could also antagonize the pressor effect of norepinephrine in Wistar rats.  相似文献

本实验对12周龄的自发性高血压大鼠(spontaneously hypertensive rat,SHR)及其对照组Wistar Kyoto (WKY)大鼠进行了肾脏移植的研究, 并观察受肾移植大鼠动脉血压的变化以及免疫抑制剂对动脉血压的影响。 用尾套法对接受同窝另一同胞WKY大鼠肾脏移植且存活5周的6只WKY大鼠(A组)及接受SHR肾脏移植且存活5周的6只WKY大鼠(B组)的尾动脉收缩压进行检测, 移植前A、 B两组受肾移植大鼠的尾动脉收缩压分别为18.0±0.93 和18.3±0.68 kPa,无统计学显著差异(P>0.05); 移植后3、 4、 5周时, B组大鼠的尾动脉收缩压显著高于A组大鼠, 移植后5周时, A, B两组大鼠的收缩压分别为19.0±0.71 和23.0±0.69 kPa (P<0.001); 所用剂量的免疫抑制剂CsA对双侧肾脏完整以及右侧肾脏切除的SHR、 WKY大鼠的动脉血压无显著影响。 以上结果表明, SHR的肾脏在高血压的形成中可能起重要作用。  相似文献

Genetic component represents an important factor in the development of hypertension, which is known to be associated with changes in expression of vascular gap junction protein connexin 43 (Cx43). The aim of the study was to examine the distribution and expression of Cx43 in the aortic endothelium of adult normotensive Wistar rats (W), borderline hypertensive rats (BHR) and spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR). Rings of the thoracic aorta were processed for immunofluorescence and Western blot analysis of endothelial Cx43 and for electron microscopy. Both, BHR and SHR exhibited significantly increased blood pressure vs. W (132+/-2 mm Hg and 185+/-3 mm Hg vs. 110+/-2 mm Hg). Reduced Cx43 immunofluorescence was observed in the endothelium of BHR and these alterations were more pronounced in SHR. Western blot analysis showed significant suppression of Cx43 expression in the aorta of both BHR (p<0.05) and SHR (p<0.001) vs. W. Electron microscopy revealed local subcellular alterations of interendothelial connections in BHR including extended tight junctions. These alterations were more frequent and marked in SHR. The results indicate that connexin 43 expression is reduced in the aortic endothelium already in prehypertensive period, which may affect cell-to-cell communication and thus participate in acceleration of hypertensive disease.  相似文献
