Sphaeralcyon shackletonisp. nov. and Sphaeralcyon scottisp. nov. are described and illustrated from material collected at the Scotia Sea and Weddell Sea on the Polarstern cruises ANT XIX/3 (ANDEEP-I), ANT XIX/5 (LAMPOS), and ANT XXI/2 (BENDEX). With the discovery of Sphaeralcyon shackletoni and S. scotti, three species are now known in the genus Sphaeralcyon, all them reported from the Southern Ocean. The diagnosis of the genus has been slightly modified to accommodate some of the characters of the new species.  相似文献

Studies of the skin with scanning electron microscopy (SEM) reveal a diverse morphology in breeding tubercles among species of Phoxinus. Based mainly on the fine structure of the surface of tubercles, nine morphotypes, coded as letters A-I, occur in Phoxinus. Most of the morphotypes are common to all Phoxinus species, but type E is present only on the dorsum of the head of P. phoxinus, type H on the breast scale of female P. phoxinus, and type I on the pectoral fin in P. erythrogaster. Multicellular breeding tubercles bearing unicellular projections, identified as unculiferous tubercles are found in type H and probably types F and G. The distribution of tubercles on head, body, and fins is described and compared among Phoxinus species. Breeding tubercles in Phoxinus and other minnow genera are compared in order to interpret the phylogenetic implication of the tuberculation in Phoxinus. The deeply embedded breast scales and the breeding tubercles on their apical margins, and a series of tubercles on the apical margins of lateral scales of the caudal peduncle in breeding males of Phoxinus species, are the characters supporting the monophyly of the genus. © 1996 Wiley-Liss, Inc.  相似文献

We describe and illustrate two new species from polar deep seas that belong to a new genus and family. Antipodactidae fam. nov. is characterized by acontia with macrobasic p-amastigophores; this type of nematocyst has never been reported from acontia. Antipodactis gen. nov. is characterized by a column with a distinct scapus and scapulus, cuticle-bearing tenaculi on the scapus, more mesenteries proximally than distally, mesenteries regularly arranged, restricted and reniform retractor musculature, and macrobasic p-amastigophores in the acontia. Antipodactis scotiae sp. nov. and A. awii sp. nov. differ in number of mesenteries, retractor and parietobasilar muscles, cnidae, and geographic distribution. We discuss the familial and generic characters of Antipodactis gen. nov. and its relationship to other families of acontiarian sea anemones: it most closely resembles members of Kadosactidae in terms of anatomy and some aspects of cnidom, and has a cnidom identical to that of Diadumenidae in terms of the types of nematocysts. Because the morphology of nematocysts is critical to the diagnosis of this family, we review and comment on the nomenclature of mastigophores. The macrobasic p-amastigophores of Antipodactidae fam. nov. conform to England’s (Hydrobiologia 216/217:691–697, 1991) definition rather than that of Mariscal (Coelenterate Biology. Academic Press, New York, pp 129–178, 1974).  相似文献

A new species of cyprinid fish, Mekongina lancangensis, is described from the upper Mekong River drainage in Southern Yunnan, China. The new species is distinguished from the other species of Mekongina occurring in the lower Mekong River drainage by possessing the following combination of characters: one pair of rostral barbels; two rows of tubercles irregularly scattered on the snout and cheeks, with two enlarged tubercles present at each side of anterior of the snout; 19–27 rostral marginal lappets; lateral line with 38–41 scales; 5·5 or 6·5 scales in transverse series from dorsal‐fin origin to lateral line; 18–20 circumpeduncular scales; snout length 31·9–36·9% head length; tip of depressed anal‐fin rays extending to the caudal‐fin base.  相似文献

The α-tubulin genes from two psychrophilic algae belonging to the genus Chloromonas (here named ANT1 and ANT3) have been isolated and sequenced. The genes ant1 and ant3 contain 4 and 2 introns, respectively. The coding DNA sequences are 90% identical but the degree of isology is very high at the polypeptide level (more than 97% strict identities). The ANT1 and ANT3 α-tubulin amino acid sequences were compared to the corresponding sequence of the mesophilic alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. Of the 15 substitutions detected in ANT1 and/or ANT3, 5 are common to both psychrophilic algae. The recorded substitutions have been analyzed in terms of cold adaptation on the basis of the available three-dimensional structure of the α,β-tubulin heterodimer from pig brain. Most of these are subtle changes, but two substitutions, M268V and A295V occurring in the region of interdimer contacts, could be of great significance for the cold stability of Antarctic algae microtubules due to the fact that the entropic control of microtubule assembly is particularly high in cold adaptes species. The Halieutichthys aculeatus species complex is reviewed. Members of this clade are distinguished by the presence of tubercles on the tail and a reticulate dorsal pigmentation pattern. Three species are recognized, including two species new to science. A neotype is chosen for H. aculeatus. Halieutichthys bispinosus n. sp. is characterized by having relatively strong tubercles on the dorsal surface, a row of tubercles almost always present dorsal to the orbit, both sphenotic tubercles well developed and sharp, trifid principal tubercles on the disk margin with anterior spinelet enlarged, dense arrangement of tubercles on the tail and a comparatively large adult body size. Halieutichthys intermedius n. sp. can be distinguished from congeners by having both sphenotic tubercles strongly reduced, the tubercles almost always absent dorsal to the orbit, principal tubercles on the disk margin uniformly short and blunt tubercles, with all spinelets generally reduced.  相似文献

A new caprellid species, Caprellinoides singularis, is described and illustrated based on the material collected on the Polarstern Cruise ANT XVII/3 from the Branfield Strait. The most striking characteristic of this species is the presence of bilobed gills on pereonites 3 and 4. The genus Caprellinoides is revised. Caprellinoides antarctica Schellengerg, 1926 and Caprellinoides spinosus Barnard, 1930 are considered junior synonyms of Caprellinoides tristanensis Stebbing, 1888 and Caprellinoides mayeri (Pfeffer, 1888), respectively. The new species, C. singularis, is compared with the remaining species in the genus Caprellinoides: C. tristanensis and C. mayeri, which are illustrated in detail. A new pectinodontid species collected from sunken wood in the East China Sea off Zhejiang Province, China, is described and assigned to the genus Pectinodonta Dall, 1882. This new species, Pectinodonta mazuae n. sp., has a medium sized shell with a fine sculpture; shell width about 72%–75% of shell length, height about 61%–66% of length, and each lateral tooth has 16 or 17 cusps. These features may be used to distinguish the new species from its congeners.

A new species of Noblella is described from the humid montane forest of the Región Cusco in Peru. Specimens were collected at 2330–2370 m elevation in Madre Selva, near Santa Ana, in the province of La Convención. The new species is readily distinguished from all other species of Noblella by having a broad, irregularly shaped, white mark on black background on chest and belly. The new species further differs from known Peruvian species of Noblella by the combination of the following characters: tympanic membrane absent, small tubercles on the upper eyelid and on dorsum, tarsal tubercles or folds absent, tips of digits not expanded, no circumferential grooves on digits, dark brown facial mask and lateral band extending from the tip of the snout to the inguinal region. The new species has a snout-to-vent length of 15.6 mm in one adult male and 17.6 mm in one adult female. Like other recently described species in the genus, this new Noblella inhabits high-elevation forests in the Andes and likely has a restricted geographic distribution.  相似文献

A new scarab beetle species of the endemic Madagascan genus Triodontus Westwood, T. hanskii sp. n., is described from a specimen collected in Southern Madagascar. The new species differs from similar Triodontus species with two medial pronotal tubercles and simple last abdominal sternite in a distinctive shape of the parameres. The type specimen of the new species originates from the southernmost remnant of indigenous rain forest of the island.  相似文献

Length‐weight relationships (LWRs) were determined for 4 deep water fish species from Visakhapatnam coast, India. Specimens were collected fortnightly between December 2013 and November 2015 from commercial trawls at Visakhapatnam fish landing centre (16.98°N–20.2°N, Long.82.19°–86.53°E). Individuals were captured between 100 and 300 m depth with shrimp trawl net (head rope length: 37–46 m and cod end mesh size: 30–40 mm). Total length (TL) (nearest to 0.1 cm) and body weights (nearest to 0.1 g) were taken each individual. All LWRs were significant with r2 values ranged from 0.958 for Uranoscopus bicinctus Temminkc & Schlegel, 1843 to 0.983 for Uranoscopus chinensis Guichenot, 1882 and “b” values ranged from 2.832 for U. bicinctus to 3. 402 Synodus indicus (Day, 1873).This study provides a new maximum length data for three species (Uranoscopus bicinctus Temminkc & Schlegel, 1843; Uranoscopus chinensis Guichenot, 1882 and Uranoscopus marmoratus Cuvier, 1829).  相似文献

In this report, highly efficient and humidity‐resistant perovskite solar cells (PSCs) using two new small molecule hole transporting materials (HTM) made from a cost‐effective precursor anthanthrone (ANT) dye, namely, 4,10‐bis(1,2‐dihydroacenaphthylen‐5‐yl)‐6,12‐bis(octyloxy)‐6,12‐dihydronaphtho[7,8,1,2,3‐nopqr]tetraphene (ACE‐ANT‐ACE) and 4,4′‐(6,12‐bis(octyloxy)‐6,12‐dihydronaphtho[7,8,1,2,3‐nopqr]tetraphene‐4,10‐diyl)bis(N,N‐bis(4‐methoxyphenyl)aniline) (TPA‐ANT‐TPA) are presented. The newly developed HTMs are systematically compared with the conventional 2,2′,7,7′‐tetrakis(N,N′‐di‐p‐methoxyphenylamino)‐9,9′‐spirbiuorene (Spiro‐OMeTAD). ACE‐ANT‐ACE and TPA‐ANT‐TPA are used as a dopant‐free HTM in mesoscopic TiO2/CH3NH3PbI3/HTM solid‐state PSCs, and the performance as well as stability are compared with Spiro‐OMeTAD‐based PSCs. After extensive optimization of the metal oxide scaffold and device processing conditions, dopant‐free novel TPA‐ANT‐TPA HTM‐based PSC devices achieve a maximum power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 17.5% with negligible hysteresis. An impressive current of 21 mA cm?2 is also confirmed from photocurrent density with a higher fill factor of 0.79. The obtained PCE of 17.5% utilizing TPA‐ANT‐TPA is higher performance than the devices prepared using doped Spiro‐OMeTAD (16.8%) as hole transport layer at 1 sun condition. It is found that doping of LiTFSI salt increases hygroscopic characteristics in Spiro‐OMeTAD; this leads to the fast degradation of solar cells. While, solar cells prepared using undoped TPA‐ANT‐TPA show dewetting and improved stability. Additionally, the new HTMs form a fully homogeneous and completely covering thin film on the surface of the active light absorbing perovskite layers that acts as a protective coating for underlying perovskite films. This breakthrough paves the way for development of new inexpensive, more stable, and highly efficient ANT core based lower cost HTMs for cost‐effective, conventional, and printable PSCs.  相似文献

Scanning electron microscopical studies of adult male and female Schistosoma nasale are reported. The tubercles on the dorsal and dorso-lateral surfaces of unpaired male S. nasale are devoid of spines. In paired male worms the tubercles on the dorsal surface are large and also are devoid of spines, but some tubercles on the dorso-lateral surface possess spines. Pit-like openings are visible on the surface of the smooth tubercles. The oral and ventral suckers on the male worm are well developed and are invested with spines, as are the gynaecophoric canal and flap. Ciliated sensory receptors are distributed over the surface of the male worm. The oral and ventral suckers of the female worm are much smaller than those of the male: spines occur on both suckers. The surface of the female is non-tuberculate and is thrown into transverse folds. Pit-like openings are visible at higher magnifications. The anterior end of the female is heavily invested in ciliated receptors, whereas the posterior end is heavily spined. The surface topography of S. nasale is discussed in relation to other species of Schistosoma.  相似文献
