Summary The establishment and development of vesicular-arbuscular mycorrhizal (VAM) fungi were studied in three cultivars of potato, which differed in susceptibility to Late blight, in a field experiment on a lateritic sandy-loam during two growing seasons (1980 and 1981). The cultivars SSC 1174 (highly resistant) and Kufri Jyoti (resistant) showed an earlier establishment and more rapid development of VAM fungi than up-to-date (highly susceptible). The first mycorrhizal infection in both SSC 1174 and Kufri Jyoti was observed after 12 days in 1980 and 8 days in 1981, whereas in up-to-date it was observed after 19 and 12 days respectively. The mycorrhizal infection increased with the age of the plants in all the three cultivars.  相似文献

In experiments with commercial seed of different cultivars at Rothamsted and Woburn, Bedfordshire in 1985 – 88 the severity of black dot on daughter tubers at harvest differed between cultivars. The disease was most severe on Desiree tubers. Amounts of disease were similar at both sites in 1986 – 88 but in 1985 it was more severe at Woburn than at Rothamsted. Disease-free seed of 12 (1987) or 15 (1988) cultivars were planted in experiments at Rothamsted (inoculated with Colletotrichum coccodes or not) and at Mepal, Cambridgeshire (not inoculated) and black dot assessed at harvest in October 1987 and in September and October 1988. There were significant differences in the amount of disease on different cultivars and the order of severity was similar at the two sites, on the two harvest dates in 1988 and in both years. Desiree, Maris Piper, Maris Peer and Record were amongst those cultivars severely affected whereas Cara, Pentland Crown and Romano were least affected. Skin discoloration caused by black dot was more noticeable on white-skinned than red-skinned cultivars and was severe on the Dutch cultivars Estima, Marfona, Santé and Wilja.  相似文献

The effects of broadcast granular, placed liquid and foliar fertilisers on the tolerance of potatoes to infection by potato cyst nematodes were investigated. The tolerance of the potato cv. Pentland Dell was not significantly improved by fertiliser application type but placed liquid fertiliser, with or without foliar applications, increased the concentrations of N, P and K measured in whole plant dry matter of PCN infected plants. The tolerance of the potato cv. Sante was not statistically improved by altering the balance of fertiliser nitrogen applications between planting and tuber initiation or by applying foliar nitrogen. Nitrogen applications of 120 kg N ha-1 at planting and a further 120 kg N ha-1 at tuber initiation supplemented with foliar N, however, achieved a larger tuber yield than the same nitrogen programme without foliar N and gave a significantly greater yield than the application of 240 kg N ha-1 at planting plus foliar N. The emergence of both cultivars was delayed in the absence of oxamyl. N, P and K concentrations within whole plant dry matter were significantly higher in plants from oxamyl treated plots and both N and K concentrations were significantly increased by increasing the quantity of N at planting, at 56 DAP. Splitting the fertiliser N between planting and tuber initiation appears to be important in maintaining the availability of this nutrient to PCN infected plants throughout the season.  相似文献

通过土培盆栽试验,研究了小麦不同品种在低磷水平下生物量、磷浓度、磷素干物质生产效率及磷素籽粒生产效率的差异,以筛选磷高效利用小麦品种.结果表明:分蘖期、拔节期、扬花期和成熟期,供试小麦品种单株生物量的变幅分别为0.46~1.09、0.85~2.10、3.00~7.00和3.85~12.88 g,磷浓度变幅分别为2.21~4.26、2.38~4.42、2.44~4.96和1.30~5.09 mg·g-1.随生育时期的推进,小麦磷素累积量、磷素干物质生产效率对生物量形成的影响程度呈减小趋势.分蘖期(CV=16.3%)、拔节期(CV=15.0%)、扬花期磷素干物质生产效率(CV=13.3%)和成熟期磷素籽粒生产效率(CV=20.5%)的品种差异较大.CD1158-7和省A3宜03-4具有较高的磷素干物质生产效率和磷素籽粒生产效率,而渝02321较低;不同生育时期高效品种磷浓度极显著低于低效品种,而高效品种CD1158-7和省A3宜03-4的籽粒产量分别是低效品种渝02321的1.98和1.78倍.  相似文献

Potato plants growing in soil heavily infested with potato cyst nematode (PCN) contained less N, P and K in their leaf dry matter than plants growing in the same soil treated with a nematicide. These differences were less in tolerant than intolerant cultivars. Applying additonal fertiliser increased the growth of untreated plants more than that of nematicide-treated plants and nematicides increased growth most in plots receiving the lowest rate of fertiliser. Overall, the results are consistent with the hypothesis that damage by invading juveniles of PCN decreases the effectiveness of the potato root system leading to a chronic deficiency of one or more nutrients and a consequential reduction in the rate of top growth.  相似文献

Despite a long history of application of phosphorus fertilisers, P deficiency is still a major limitation to crop production on calcareous soils. Recent field research conducted in highly calcareous soils in southern Australia has demonstrated that both grain yield and P uptake of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is greater when fluid forms of P are used compared to granular forms. To improve our understanding of the mechanisms underlying this response to P in the field, we compared the lability, solubility and mobility of P applied as either a fluid (3 products) or granular (3 products) form to two calcareous and one alkaline non-calcareous soils in the laboratory. Over a five-week period, between 9.5 and 18 % of the P initially present in the fertiliser granules did not diffuse into the surrounding soil. The degree of granule dissolution was independent of the soil type. In contrast, P solubility, lability and diffusion were significantly greater when fluid products were applied to the calcareous soils, but not to the alkaline non-calcareous soil. These findings are discussed in relation to field trials results where fluid products outperformed granular fertilisers.  相似文献

The field performance of 23 cultivars exposed to various tissue culture regimes was evaluated in the presence of appropriate controls. There were significant differences between cultivars but more importantly there were significant interactions between cultivar and treatments. The largest interaction effect was consistently clones x field vs micropropagated seed tubers and was found to be highly significant (P < 0.001) for all variates examined. In general, there was little agreement between the performance of cultivars when grown from explant-derived seed tubers and when they were grown from field-produced seed. This study demonstrates the potential problems associated with the phenotypic selection of tissue culture derived material in a potato breeding programme.  相似文献

研究苹果生理指标与其对苹果绵蚜(Eriosoma lanigerum Hausmann)抗性的关系,为筛选培育抗性品种,实现持续有效治理苹果绵蚜提供依据.田间调查不同苹果品种对苹果绵蚜的抗性,测定比较各品种正常枝条生理指标,以及被苹果绵蚜危害后生理指标的变化.结果表明,正常枝条中可溶性糖(r=0.99)、蛋白质(r=0.86)含量与感蚜率呈正相关;氨基酸含量与感蚜率呈负相关(r=-0.96);酚类物质和4种酶活性与苹果感蚜率均不存在明显相关性.被害后昭锦108可溶性糖含量有所下降,红富士、金冠分别上升1.4%、7.0%;蛋白质、氨基酸、酚类物质含量均有所下降,其中红富士总酚含量明显下降,达23.5%,总酚下降率与感蚜率呈正相关(r=0.94);超氧化物歧化酶(Superoxide Dismutase,SOD)、过氧化氢酶(Catalase,CAT)活性均上升,其中CAT变化率与感蚜率存在相关性(r=-0.92),昭锦108 CAT活性明显上升,达91.2%;多酚氧化酶(Polyphenol Oxidase,PPO)、过氧化物酶(Peroxidase,POD)活性增减不一;金冠4种酶活性均上升.研究表明,对苹果绵蚜抗性较强的品种:可溶性糖、蛋白质含量较低,游离氨基酸含量较高;受害后可溶性糖含量下降,总酚含量下降率较低,游离氨基酸含量下降率较高.酶活性对抗蚜性的影响不明显.  相似文献

To investigate the relationship between the timing of fertiliser N applications and the N use efficiency of wheat, three field experiments with 15N were set up on winter wheat, on three different soils in France. Different crop N demands on the day of fertiliser application were obtained by varying either crop densities or date of fertiliser application. Labelled 15NH4 15NO3 was applied at tillering and during stem elongation. The 15N recovered from plant and soil at different dates after 15N addition and at maturity of wheat was measured. The fate of fertiliser N was rapidly determined, most of the fertiliser N accumulated in the wheat at maturity having been taken up within a few days of application. 15N recovery by the crop at final harvest (%) varied greatly (19–55% N applied) according to crop density, soil type and date of application. It was linearly related to the instantaneous crop growth rate calculated at the day of 15N application. The amount of fertiliser N immobilised in the soil was constant at 20 kg N ha−1, for all soil types and crop densities. Because residual mineral 15N in the soil at harvest was negligible and immobilisation was constant, the level of total 15N measured in the different N pools (soil+plant) reflected the% 15N uptake by the plant. There was consequently a negative linear relationship between the percentage of 15N not recovered for measurement, and crop growth rate (i.e. crop N demand) at date of fertiliser application. These results suggest that crop N demand at the time of N application determines the ability of the crop to compete for N with other processes, and may be a major factor determining the division of N between soil and crop. The role of ecophysiological traits in the success and expansion of the toxic cyanobacterium Cylindrospermopsis raciborskii is still under debate. One key factor appears to be the high physiological flexibility of this organism when obtaining limiting resources. Recent studies have found that filamentous bloom-forming cyanobacteria are able to optimize their growth by adjusting phosphate uptake during fluctuating nutrient conditions. We investigated the growth response of two phosphate-deficient C. raciborskii isolates (MVCC19 from Uruguay and CCMP1973 from USA) to short-term fluctuations in phosphate supply. These isolates were exposed to five phosphate concentrations which were provided in two supply modes: a single pulse (SingleP) versus the same amount divided in 10 pulses (TenP), with one pulse applied every 6 min. Morphological traits and changes in chlorophyll a and phycocyanin fluorescence were also evaluated. Growth rates of CCMP1973 and MVCC19 almost doubled and tripled, respectively, when exposed to multiple rather than single phosphate additions. Different growth rates were observed with the same total added resource, thus contradicting the classical model of dependence of growth rate on absolute external concentration. Phosphate-deficient C. raciborskii showed a remarkable physiological flexibility in adapting to phosphate availability on a timescale from minutes to hours. The TenP mode provided an extension of phosphate exposure time that allowed the energetic optimization of uptake and growth. The morphological plasticity of the species in response to phosphate supply mode was also shown by differences in trichome length and individual size. Our results are the first evidence of growth optimization of phosphate-deficient C. raciborskii to short-term nutrient fluctuations, revealing its physiological flexibility. This adaptive behaviour may help to explain the invasive success of this diazotrophic cyanobacterium in a wide range of aquatic ecosystems where phosphorus is frequently the limiting resource.  相似文献

Microtubers of 13 cultivars, largely grown in Italy and other European countries, were induced. They were stored in the dark at 3°C for different periods (28, 56, 84 and 105 days), prior to being transferred to 20°C for between 4 and 17 weeks. Following removal to room temperature, sprouting was recorded and dormancy duration quantified. Dormancy decreased from 28.1 to 19.9, 11.1 and 7.8 days with reduced time of storage. Cvs Arsy, Nicola and Jaerla took consistently more time for dormancy release. The dormancy duration was linearly and inversely correlated with the length of storage. After sprouting, tubers were held at 20°C for various intervals and a range of physiological ages (0, 368, 720 and 1008 degree days) were accumulated. The field comparison of microtubers evidenced a plant growth response and tuber yield/plant affected by the cultivar and physiological age. In early cultivars (Jaerla), a better performance was shown by younger tubers; the opposite trend was noted in Alpha (a later cultivar) with an increase in stems/plant, tubers/plant and tuber yield/plant for tubers with greater physiological age. Like conventional seed tubers, microtubers showed differences in optimum physiological age associated with cultivar earliness. This study has provided some indications on how to enhance emergence and haulm development of plants from microtubers.  相似文献

Photosynthetic acclimation to elevated CO2 in wheat cultivars   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
Wheat (T. aestivum) cvs. Kalyansona and Kundan grown under atmospheric (CA) and elevated CO2 concentrations (650±50 cm3 m-3 - CE) in open top chambers were examined for net photosynthetic rate (PN), stomatal limitation (l s) of P N, ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase (RuBPC) activity, and saccharide content of the leaves. The P N values of both CA- and CE-grown plants compared at the same CO2 concentration showed a down regulation under CE at the post-anthesis stage. The negative acclimation of P N appeared to be due to both stomatal and mesophyll components, and the RuBPC activity got also adjusted. There was a decrease in activation state of RuBPC under CE. In connection with this, an increased accumulation of saccharides in wheat leaf under CE was observed. Kalyansona, owing to its larger sink potential in terms of the number of grains, showed a greater enhancement under CE in both post-ear emergence dry matter production and grain yield. Under CE, this cultivar also showed a lower down regulation of P N than Kundan. This revised version was published online in June 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

When 12 potato cultivars were inoculated with isolates (one each) of potato virus Y (PVY) ordinary (Yo), C (Yc) and tobacco veinal necrosis (Yn) strain groups, potato virus A (PVA) and potato virus V (PVV), none of them responded hypersensitively to Yn. However, with Yo, Yc, PVA and PW specific hypersensitive reactions developed depending on isolate-cultivar combination which were all independent of each other. When field isolates of PVY thought to be Yoor Ycwere inoculated to the same 12 cultivars, two did not fit into either strain group giving hypersensitive reactions in only two cultivars instead of seven with Yoor eight with Yc. These two isolates may represent a previously unreported PVY strain group (Yz). When Yowas graft-inoculated to seedlings of the cross Desiree × Maris Piper (hypersensitive × non-hypersensitive for Yo), the segregation ratio obtained for non-hypersensitive:hypersensitive reactions was close to 1:1 suggesting that a single dominant gene (Nytbr) determining Yospecific hypersensitivity may be present in cv. Desiree (simplex condition). In tests using PVV and Desiree × Maris Piper (non-hypersensitive × hypersensitive for PVV) seedlings, the segregation ratio obtained was close to 1:5 indicating that a single dominant gene (Nv) determining PVV specific hypersensitivity may be present in cv. Maris Piper (duplex condition). Cultivars Corine, Pirola and clone G5457(4) which each carry one of the extreme resistance genes (Ry) from Solanum stoloniferum were graft-inoculated with Yn, Yo, Yc, PVV and PVA. G5457(4) gave a strong localised hypersensitive reaction in all instances, while cv. Pirola did so with all except PVA to which it was immune. In cv. Corine a severe localised hypersensitive reaction developed with PVA, generalised hypersensitivity with PVV but an immune response with the three PVY strain groups. Large-scale grafting of Ynto plants of cvs Corine and Pirola gave no evidence of selection of a strain which overcomes Ry genes.  相似文献

在田间试验条件下, 以中穗型小麦(Triticum aestivum)品种‘山农15’和大穗型品种‘山农8355’为供试材料, 设置3个0-140 cm土层土壤相对含水量处理: W0 (拔节期65%, 开花期60%)、W1 (拔节期70%, 开花期70%)、W2 (拔节后8天70%, 开花后8天70%), 采用测墒补灌的方法补充土壤水分达到目标相对含水量, 对两个不同穗型小麦品种的耗水特性和干物质积累与分配进行了研究。结果表明: (1)两品种籽粒产量均以W0处理最低, ‘山农15’ W1和W2处理无显著差异, ‘山农8355’ W1处理显著高于W2处理; 两品种W1处理的水分利用效率和灌溉水利用效率均显著高于W2处理。‘山农15’ W1处理的籽粒产量和灌溉水利用效率分别显著低于和高于‘山农8355’的W1处理, 水分利用效率无显著差异; 两品种W2处理的籽粒产量、水分利用效率和灌溉水利用效率均无显著差异。(2)两品种总耗水量以W0处理最低, ‘山农15’ W1处理显著低于W2处理, ‘山农8355’两处理无显著差异; 两品种W1处理的土壤供水量及其占总耗水量的比例显著高于W2处理。‘山农15’ W1处理的总耗水量和灌水量占总耗水量的比例显著低于‘山农8355’, 土壤供水量占总耗水量的比例显著高于‘山农8355’; 两品种W2处理总耗水量, 土壤供水量及其占总耗水量的比例无显著差异。(3)两品种W1处理成熟期干物质积累量显著高于其他处理, W1处理提高了‘山农8355’开花后干物质积累量及其对籽粒的贡献率, 对‘山农15’无显著影响。‘山农15’ W1和W2处理成熟期干物质积累量显著低于‘山农8355’, 开花前贮藏同化物向籽粒的转运量和转运率、对籽粒的贡献率均显著高于‘山农8355’, 开花后干物质积累量及其对籽粒的贡献率低于‘山农8355’。综合考虑干物质积累与分配、籽粒产量、水分利用效率和灌溉水利用效率, W1处理是两品种节水高产的最佳土壤相对含水量处理。  相似文献

The physiological age of mother tubers (Solanum tuberosum L. cv. Kennebec) used as a source of material influenced kinetin-induced in vitro tuberisation. Tuberisation significantly increased with physiological age. Kinetin- or ancymidol-induced tuberisation, plantlet and microtuber dry weight decreased with increasing number of subcultures. Single-node segments obtained from tubers stored for more than 9.5 months at 4 °C showed increased kinetin-induced tuberisation rates and earlier tuberisation than those obtained from younger tubers. For any physiological age, material may be safely multiplied using node propagation until the third subculture and bioassayed for tuberisation without variation in the response. The export of primary photosynthesis products from chloroplasts into the cytoplasm is mediated by the triose phosphate translocator. The transporter is an integral membrane protein localized at the inner envelope of chloroplasts. In order to study the expression of the major chloroplast envelope protein gene E29, which is assumed to function as the translocator, we have isolated corresponding cDNA clones from potato. A full-length clone was sequenced and shown to be highly homologous to the E29 gene from spinach. Expression on the RNA level is restricted to green tissues, is light dependent and cannot be induced by sucrose in darkness. The presence of a single-copy gene argues for the existence of different translocator systems responsible for import and export of carbohydrates in chloroplasts and amyloplasts.  相似文献

Six cultivars of potato (Santé, Morag, Paladin, Glenna and Fingal bred for resistance to both potato cyst-nematodes (Globodera rostochiensis and G. pallida) and Valiant bred for resistance to G. pallida alone) were exposed to 28 English populations of G. pallida and eight English populations of G. rostochiensis in pots. Susceptible cv. Désirée potatoes served as controls for all 36 populations. Inoculum (Pi) was 12000 eggs in cysts per 400ml pot of soil. Average increase of G. rostochiensis (Pf/Pi) on cv. Désirée was 23.5 but on cvs Sante, Glenna and Fingal it was < 1.0 and on cv. Morag it was 2.2. In contrast, cvs Paladin and Valiant were susceptible (average Pf/Pi = 17.4 and 26.5, respectively). Against G. pallida populations, average Pf/Pi for cv. Désirée was 21.7; on cvs Paladin, Santé and Glenna it was 2.9, 2.6 and 2.4, respectively; cvs Morag and Fingal were less resistant (7.4 and 5.6, respectively) and cv. Valiant was quite susceptible (11.0). Resistance to the different populations of G. pallida and G. rostochiensis varied but for the most resistant cultivars (Santé, Glenna and Paladin) the variation was usually small. The value of the six resistant cultivars studied to the integrated control of potato cyst-nematodes in England and the genetic diversity of the nematode populations to which they were exposed are discussed.  相似文献

Changes in dry matter accumulation and allocation, abscisic acid content and carbon isotope composition of three wheat cultivars from dry, middle and wet climate regions were recorded at full maturity after exposure to different watering regimes (100, 50 and 25 % field capacity). Compared with the wet climate cultivar, the dry climate cultivar showed lower stem height, total leaf area, total dry biomass and total grain dry mass, and higher root/shoot ratio, abscisic acid content and carbon isotope composition under all watering regimes. Both water-limited treatments significantly reduced leaf growth and increased dry matter allocation into the roots leading to a significant raise of root/shoot ratio in all cultivars tested. In addition, drought affected morphological and physiological properties more in the dry climate cultivar than in the wet climate cultivar.  相似文献

Summary The dry matter production and the concentration of nutrients in rice (Oryza sativa L.) cultivars from soil adjusted to different levels of salinity were evaluated under a greenhouse conditions. Soil salinity levels were produced by applying 0.34 mol l–1 solution of NaCl which resulted in the following levels, control (0.29), 5, 10 and 15 dS m–1 conductivity of saturation extract. The effect of salinity on dry matter production varied from cultivar to cultivar.The concentrations of P and K in the tops of rice cultivars decreased with increasing soil salinity. But the concentrations of Na, Zn, Cu and Mn increased.Significant varietal differences were found in relation to salinity tolerance. Based on dry matter yield reduction, rice cultivars were classified as tolerant, moderately tolerant, moderately susceptible or susceptible.  相似文献
