The genus Scinaia in the Azores is re-evaluated based on historical and recent collections. A combination of morphological and anatomical diagnostic characters was used for species segregation, and a key for Azorean species determination is presented. Anatomical information associated to the hair development is described for the first time for the genus. The occurrence of S. furcellata and S. interrupta is confirmed for the archipelago. The presence of S. acuta is reported for the first time in the Azores, representing a spread from Australia to the N-Atlantic and specifically into the Macaronesian region. Its occurrence in the archipelago and the Canaries is discussed as a possible introduction.  相似文献

The status of the name Amphiroa cryptarthrodia Zanardini has been uncertain, and there has been a lack of stability in this species nomenclature, in part related to its poor taxonomic foundation. The species has been considered conspecific with Amphiroa verrucosa Kützing nom. illeg. Another suggested taxonomic synonym has been Amphiroa rubra (Philippi) Woelkering. A type specimen for A. cryptarthrodia appears never to have been designated and there are no illustrations of Zanardini's original collections housed in the Museo Civico di Storia Naturale, Venezia (MCVE). In the present paper, a neotype of A. cryptarthrodia is designated, based on the study of Zanardini's authentic collections. A detailed morphological and anatomical account of the type specimen is provided and the diagnostic characters of the species are listed. Nomenclatural and taxonomic data and brief considerations of the relationships between A. cryptarthrodia and conspecific species are also provided. It is concluded that A. verrucosa Kützing is a heterotypic synonym. The name A. rubra (Philippi) Woelkerling should remain, pertaining solely to its type pending new investigations.  相似文献

The genus Parabarium is clearly separated from the other genera of the subtribe Urceolinae by different characters. The inflorescences of their taxa are heterocladical pleiothyrses, trunk synflorescences, or pleiochasiums. Further morphological and anatomical investigations deals with flower buds, leaves, pollen grains, fruits, seed, and other parts of the plants. Basing on the character analysis resulting from this the genus Parabarium is divided into two subgenera with two sections and two subsections enclosing 16 species. Two of the latter are described as news, further two varieties are set up as new ones. Two species are transferred from the genus Ecdysanthera into the genus Parabarium. Further three Parabarium species are inserted, and some more taxonomical corrections are made. — The possible relations within the genus Parabarium are made. Based on these results P. micranthum and therefor the subsection Parabarium (subgenus Parabarium) have to be regarded as the more original ones in face of P. quintaretii and the subgenus Pleiochasium. The comparative morphological study in different Acipenseriform species demonstrates that there are only two morphological features combining the kaluga and the great sturgeon and separating them from other sturgeons, namely the shape of a mouth and the manner attaching of gill membranes to isthmus in adult specimens; whereas many morphological characters are different in these species. The relations of morphological similarity/distinction among different sturgeon species and polyphyletic origin of genus Huso revealed by both molecular and cytogenetic studies presume the restoration of initial taxonomic states for the great sturgeon and kaluga as members of the same genus Acipenser, namely A. huso and A. dauricus.  相似文献

Relationships of the eight species of the liverwort genus Radula occurring in Portugal (mainland, the Madeira and Azores archipelagos), including the Macaronesian endemics R. jonesii and R. wichurae, were evaluated based on molecular, phytochemical and morphological–anatomical data. Maximum parsimony and Bayesian analyses were performed with sequences from three plastid DNA markers (trnS GGA-rps4 spacer, rps4 gene, trnL UAA intron), volatile oil compounds, as well as qualitative morphological–anatomical characters. In addition, the molecular data were subjected to maximum likelihood analysis. The eight taxa, R. aquilegia, R. carringtonii, R. complanata, R. holtii, R. jonesii, R. lindenbergiana, R. nudicaulis and R. wichurae, can be clearly distinguished from each other, either by molecular data alone or by combination of characters from all three data sets. Radula aquilegia is monophyletic according to the molecular data, but shows considerable, yet undescribed intraspecific morphological and phytochemical variability. Recognition of R. complanata and R. lindenbergiana as separate species, previously based solely on the paroecious vs. dioecious sexual condition, is moderately supported by the molecular phylogenetic analyses and strongly supported by the phytochemical data. The Radula species, narrowly distributed in Macaronesia and Atlantic Europe, probably have two different origins. For Radula holtii and R. nudicaulis, connections with Radula species from the Neotropics are indicated. The other species, among them the two Macaronesian endemics, are closely related with the R. complanata/R. lindenbergiana complex, which is widely distributed in the northern hemisphere.  相似文献

Hackelochloa is a pantropical genus of plant in the Poaceae, in which only two species have been included, H. granularis and H. porifera. Despite several morphological differences, notably the more prominent sculpturing of the lower glume and the larger dimensions of several quantitative traits, H. porifera has been reduced to the synonymy of H. granularis. Moreover, the status of the genus itself has been questioned, with a regional revision of the genus proposing inclusion of its members in the genus Mnesithea. In the present study, we investigated a range of morphological and anatomical attributes to assess critically the generic delimitation between Hackelochloa and Mnesithea. In clustering analysis, H. granularis, H. porifera and Mnesithea species were clearly resolved as three distinct groups with an R‐value of 0.98114. Likewise, three clusters representing these taxonomic units were revealed using principal component analysis (PCA), with the first two principal components highlighting key qualitative and quantitative characters. Scanning electron microscopy was used to reveal different patterns of sculpturing on the lower glumes in the two putative species and the ecological significance of these differences is inferred. The outline of leaf transverse sections, presence of parenchymatous tissue in the midrib region, number of adjacent bundles and number of chlorenchyma layers in the culm were also found to be diagnostic anatomical characters. This study supports the recognition of H. porifera as distinct from H. granularis and provides evidence that the genus Hackelochloa should be maintained.  相似文献

In the general introduction of a taxonomical revision of the genus Thlaspi L. from Europa, the Near East and Africa — a conspectus of the species till now comprised within this genus has already been published — a historical survey of the genus Thlaspi is given. Morphological resp. anatomical characters have been judged. The structure of the seedtesta inter alia exhibited a different pattern which proved to be valuable for differentiation. In Thlaspi s. str. this pattern revealed to be well distinguishable from all the other Thlaspi-species hitherto put in this genus; thus showing Thlaspi s. str. a species-complex of its own. The characteristical differences of the numerous species out of the Thlaspi s. str.-complex allow further separation of different genera, so that the hitherto existing genus Thlaspi has been found to be a mosaic of different genera. The degree of their closer or wider relationship, however, could be investigated after extensive studies in different genera of the Brassicaceae (Cruciferae). A subordination of these complexes of closer relationship as subgenera of the genus Thlaspi is impossible, because the morphological and anatomical differences are too great. A persistency in the hitherto scope of a heterogenous genus Thlaspi is considered unreasonable and would encourage a greater humping of many genera within the family Brassicaceae which are well separated till now. This would not reflect the natural conditions. Additional figures of fruits and seedtestas of different species support this view. Finally the geographical distribution of the several genera has been described which in Noccaea Moench shows shortly the wide extension of this genus throughout northern Asia and the extratropical America.  相似文献

A new species of Moldenhawera is described from the state of Bahia in Brazil. Moldenhawera intermedia differs from all other species in the genus by its combination of pinnate leaves with acute to caudate apices, its pink petals, pentamerous flowers, and the staminode filaments 1.5 to 2.5 × longer than the anthers which dehisce by slits not pores. The species has a suite of morphological characters that place it intermediate between all three described sections of the genus, suggesting that the supra-specific taxonomy of Moldenhawera will benefit from a future reappraisal.  相似文献

The taxonomy and nomenclature of the genus Huperzia Bernh. in the Azores and Madeira have been reviewed. Plants collected in the Azores and Madeira were characterized morphologically. The independence between two endemic species common to Madeira and the Azores Islands –Huperzia suberecta (Lowe) Tardieu and Huperzia dentata (Herter) Holub – is clearly shown. A clear‐cut morphological separation between these taxa and Huperzia selago (L.) Abstract Cytological characters of four species in Syncalathium (Asteraceae: Lactuceae), a small genus with six identified species endemic to alpine scree of the Sino‐Himalayan region, are surveyed in this report. Three species (Syncalathium pilosum, Syncalathium chrysocephalum, and Syncalathium disciforme) are examined for the first time. Combined with our previous counts, five species have been cytologically investigated from the genus and the results indicated that all species are diploid with the basic somatic chromosome number of x=8. The karyotype asymmetry of Syncalathium souliei is 2A, distinct from the other four species of 1A, and the remaining species are divided into two subgroups with different karyotypes, consistent with their morphological features. The significance of the cytological evolution of Syncalathium is briefly discussed.  相似文献

The Corallinales includes ca. 40 genera of calcified red seaweeds. Species are of two distinct morphotypes; those that possess genicula (uncalcified nodes) and those that lack genicula. Most nongeniculate species take the form of crusts. The presence (or absence) of genicula, secondary pit connections, and tetrasporangial conceptacle features have traditionally been used as key characters for delimiting coralline subfamilies. In this study, nuclear encoded 18S and 26S rRNA gene sequences were determined and used to reexamine relationships among coralline taxa. Separate and combined phylogenetic analyses of these data yielded similar trees in which four major lineages are resolved. Heydrichia and Sporolithon (Sporolithaceae) are positioned at the base of the tree and appear to be distantly related to other species examined. Within the Corallinaceae, the nongeniculate Melobesioideae is resolved as a monophyletic group. All members of this subfamily produce mutiporate tetraspoangial conceptacles. The Corallinoideae, which are characterized by unizonate genicula, are resolved as sister to a clade containing species placed in the Lithophylloideae, Mastophoroideae and Metagoniolithoideae. The molecular data indicate that geniculate and nongeniculate species characterized by the presence of secondary pit connections are closely related. For example, both data sets robustly support a sister taxon relationship between Amphiroa and Titanoderma. Our results indicate that: 1) all taxa in which secondary pit connections are present should be referred to the Lithophylloideae and, 2) genicula are nonhomologous structures that are independently derived in Amphiroa, Lithothrix, Metagoniolithon and the last common ancestor of the Corallinoideae.  相似文献

Soil samples and museum collections were analysed from all zoogeographic regions of the world. From this material eleven new species of Ortheziola?ulc are described from Africa and the U.K., five additional species are redescribed and a key is presented for the identification of all sixteen species. A slightly modified concept of the genus is presented and several new characters are given as diagnostic of the genus. A phylogenetic hypothesis is given based on analysis of the morphological features of adult females. Results show that Ortheziola is most diverse in eastern Africa where relatively more advanced species occur. Basal species occur primarily in western Africa and Asia.  相似文献
