The interaction between saccharose and manganese in different oxidation states was studied in alkaline media by polarographic, potentiometric, ESR spectroscopic and UV-Vis spectrophotometric methods. The results showed that stable manganese(II) and manganese(III) complexes and a complex of manganese(II,III) in a mixed oxidation state were formed with the composition [MnIIL(OH)2], [Mn2IIIL2(OH)8]2− and [MnIIMnIIIL2(OH)6], respectively. The manganese(II)-saccharose complex was shown to dimerize in alkaline media. The stability constants of the Mn(II,III) and Mn(III) complexes were determined. The oxidation of the manganese(II)-saccharose complex by a stoichiometric amount of K3 [FeCN]6 resulted in the formation of the manganese(III) and manganese(IV) complexes. However, oxidation by molecular oxygen only yielded the manganese(III) complex which reduced spontaneously in inert atmosphere to the mixed valence Mn(II,III) complex. The latter was able to be oxidized again by oxygen to the Mn(III) complex. This process proved to be reversible and could be repeated several times.  相似文献

Mononuclear neutral manganese(II) and cobalt(II) complexes with the antibiotic Sodium Monensin A (Mon-Na, 1b) were synthesized and characterized. The crystal structures of M(Mon-Na)2Cl2.H2O (M=Mn, 2; M=Co, 3) were determined by X-ray crystallography. The complexes crystallize in monoclinic space group C2 with a tetrahedrally coordinated transition metal attached to oxygen atoms of deprotonated carboxyl groups of two Sodium Monensin molecules and two chloride ions. The sodium ion remains in the cavity of the ligand and cannot be replaced by Mn(II) or Co(II). The complexes were additionally characterized by different spectroscopic techniques (UV-Visible, EPR, FAB-MS). A preferable octahedral environment around the transition metal centers is observed in polar solvents while the complexes retain their tetrahedral structure in non-polar media. The antimicrobial activity of 1b, 2 and 3 was tested against Gram(+) and Gram(-) bacteria.  相似文献

The effect of several organic acids on the oxidation of Mn(II) catalyzed by manganese peroxidase was studied. Reactivities of manganese peroxidase and chemically prepared Mn(III) organic acid complexes towards phenolic compounds were compared. If lactate appears to be the best complexant for manganese peroxidase activity, chemically prepared Mn(III)—lactate complex is a less effective oxidant towards phenolic compounds than other Mn(III)—complexes. Our results agree with the hypothesis that certain organic acids are involved in the catalytic cycle of manganese peroxidase. Malonate and lactate seem to be the most attractive complexants for practical applications of manganese peroxidase and were used in enzymatic treatment of hardwood kraft pulp. Bleaching of kraft pulp was studied and after alkaline extraction, a significant decrease of kappa number was measured. The bleaching was enhanced in lactate buffer.  相似文献

The stability constants of the mixed ligand complexes of manganese(II), cobalt(II), nickel(II), copper(II) and zinc(II) ions with L-dopa, dopamine, L-adrenaline and L-noradrenaline as ligand A and L-alanine, L-histidine, glycylglycine and ATP as ligand B were determined pH-metrically at 25 °C and an ionic strength of 0.2 mol/dm3 (KCl). From visible spectral studies, conclusions were drawn on the bonding properties of the ambidentate ligands in the complexes. It was found that, even in its mixed ligand complexes, the ambidentate nature of dopa permits its coordination via the amino acid side-chain (N, O) at lower pH, and via the ortho phenolic hydroxy groups (O, O) at higher pH. At the same time, the complex-forming tendency of the ethanolamine side-chain in the catecholamines plays a minor role in the mixed ligand complexes. The stabilities of the mixed ligand complexes were interpreted by consideration of the differences in the stepwise stability constants of the parent complexes, the back-coordination, the charge neutralization, and the electrostatic and hydrophobic interactions between the ligand pairs.  相似文献

The water-oxidizing complex (WOC) within photosystem II (PSII) can be reconstituted with synthetic manganese complexes by a process called photoactivation; however, the key factors affecting the efficiency of synthetic manganese complexes in reconstitution of electron transport and oxygen evolution activity in manganese-depleted PSII remain unclear. In the present study, four complexes with different manganese coordination environments were used to reconstitute the WOC, and an interesting relationship was found between the coordination environment of the manganese atom in the complexes and their efficiency in restoring electron transport and oxygen evolution. If Mn(II) is coordinated to nitrogen atoms within the ligand, it can restore significant rates of electron transport and oxygen evolution; however, if the manganese atom is coordinated only to oxygen atoms instead of nitrogen atoms, it has no capability to restore electron transport and oxygen evolution. So, our results demonstrate that the capability of manganese complexes to reconstitute the WOC is mainly determined by the coordination between nitrogen atoms from ligands and the manganese atom. It is suggested from our results that the ligation between the nitrogen atom and the manganese atom within the manganese complex facilitates the photoligation of the manganese atom to histidyl residues on the apo-protein in manganese-depleted PSII during photoactivation.  相似文献

Saccharose, forming sufficiently stable complexes with copper(II) ions in alkaline solutions, was found to be a suitable ligand for copper(II) chelating in alkaline (pH>12) electroless copper deposition solutions. Reduction of copper(II)-saccharose complexes by hydrated formaldehyde was investigated and the copper deposits formed were characterized. The thickness of the compact copper coatings obtained under optimal operating conditions in 1h reaches ca. 2 microm at ambient temperature. The plating solutions were stable and no signs of Cu(II) reduction in the bulk solution were observed. Results were compared with those systems operating with other copper(II) ligands.  相似文献

Palladium(II) complexes of the peptides GlyMet, GlyMetGly and GlyGlyMet containing methionyl residues were studied by potentiometric and 1H NMR spectroscopic methods. The coordination of terminal amino and deprotonated amide nitrogen and thioether sulfur donor atoms was suggested in the mono complexes of GlyMet and GlyMetGly. The fourth coordination site of these complexes can be occupied by solvent molecule, chloride or hydroxide ions or by another ligand molecule in the bis or mixed ligand complexes. The second ligand coordinates monodentately via the thioether function in acidic media and the amino group under neutral or basic conditions. The stoichiometry of the major species formed in the palladium(II)-GlyGlyMet system is [PdH(-2) L]- and this is coordinated by the amino, two-amide and the thioether donor functions. Thioether bridged mixed metal complexes formed in the reaction of [Pd(dien)]2+ and [Cu(GlyMetH(-1))] or [Ni(GlyMetGlyH(-2))]- also have been detected by spectroscopic techniques.  相似文献

The synthesis of a new tetrapyridyl ligand, bis[di-1,1-(2-pyridyl)ethyl]amine (BDPEA), is described. Complexation of this ligand with manganese(II), iron(III) or copper(II) chlorides afforded mononuclear complexes: Mn(BDPEA)Cl2 (1) [Fe (BDPEA)Cl2]Cl (2) and [Cu(BDPEA)Cl]Cl (3). In all cases, BDPEA is coordinated to the metal center by three pyridine nitrogen atoms and the secondary amine. The geometrical environments around the metals in Mn(BDPEA)Cl2 and [Fe(BDPEA)Cl2]Cl are best described as distorted octahedrals and in [Cu (BDPEA)Cl]Cl as a slightly distorted square pyramid. The DNA cleavage activities of manganese(II), iron (III) or copper(II) complexes of both BDPEA and another tetrapyridyl ligand, bis[di(2-pyridyl) methyl]amine (BDPMA), in the presence of an oxidant (H2O2) or a reducing agent (ascorbate) with air, are reported. The iron(III) complexes exhibited significantly enhanced efficiencies, compared to copper(II) complexes. [Fe(BDPEA)Cl2]Cl is found to be the most active DNA cleaver, in agreement with a better stability of BDPEA in oxidizing conditions.  相似文献

The new complexes with 2-salicyloylhydrazono-1,3-dithiolane ligand (H2L) have been obtained with good yields (≈85%) by reacting manganese (II) acetate tetrahydrate or manganese (II) acetylacetonate with 2-salicyloylhydrazono-1,3-dithiolane ligand in DMF, THF or Py (L′). These compounds have been fully characterized by spectroscopic methods and single crystal X-ray diffraction. In the solid state, supramolecular networks are described and discussed in terms of weak H-bonds and short contacts. The new monomeric complexes will be considered as candidates to obtain polynuclear complexes.  相似文献

Metal complexes of 2-pyridine carboxaldehyde 2′-pyridinylhydrazone 1-oxide (poph) and 2-pyridinecarboxaldehyde 2′-quinolinylhydrazone 1-oxide (poqh) are reported with copper(II), nickel(II), cobalt(II), iron(II) and manganese(II). Each ligand appears to function as an ONN donor, via the pyridine N-oxide oxygen, the imine nitrogen, and a pyridine or quinoline nitrogen. The complexes have been characterised by magnetic susceptibility measurements to liquid nitrogen temperature, and also by electronic, infrared, X-ray powder diffraction, and Mössbauer spectra. No magnetic interaction was detected with the copper(II) complexes. All the complexes of metal nitrates appear to be monomers. The complexes of poph with the halides and thiocyanates of nickel(II) and cobalt(II) appear to be six-coordinate and N-oxide-bridged; they exhibit varying degress of antiferromagnetic interaction and the magnetic data for the nickel(II) complexes have been fitted to various models. In contrast, the bulky ligand poqh produces halide-bridged six-coordinate nickel(II) complexes and monomeric five-coordinate cobalt(II) complexes. This behaviour by poqh resembles that of the related NNN ligands paphy and paqhy, which are the Schiff bases of 2-pyridinecarboxaldehyde with 2-pyridinylhydrazine and 2-quinolinylhydrazine, respectively.  相似文献

Using transition metals such as manganese(II), iron(II), cobalt(II), nickel(II), copper(II), and zinc(II), several new metal complexes of cross-bridged tetraazamacrocyclic chelators namely, cyclen- and cyclam-analogs with benzyl groups, were synthesized and screened for in vitro antimalarial activity against chloroquine-resistant (W2) and chloroquine-sensitive (D6) strains of Plasmodium falciparum. The metal-free chelators tested showed little or no antimalarial activity. All the metal complexes of the dibenzyl cross-bridged cyclam ligand exhibited potent antimalarial activity. The Mn2+ complex of this ligand was the most potent with IC50s of 0.127 and 0.157 μM against the chloroquine-sensitive (D6) and chloroquine-resistant (W2) P. falciparum strains, respectively. In general, the dibenzyl hydrophobic ligands showed better anti-malarial activity compared to the activity of monobenzyl ligands, potentially because of their higher lipophilicity and thus better cell penetration ability. The higher antimalarial activity displayed by the manganese complex for the cyclam ligand in comparison to that of the cyclen, correlates with the larger pocket of cyclam compared to that of cyclen which produces a more stable complex with the Mn2+. Few of the Cu2+ and Fe2+ complexes also showed improvement in activity but Ni2+, Co2+ and Zn2+ complexes did not show any improvement in activity upon the metal-free ligands for anti-malarial development.  相似文献

This review focuses on our recent efforts in synthetic ruthenium–tyrosine–manganese chemistry mimicking the donor side reactions of Photosystem II. Tyrosine and tryptophan residues were linked to ruthenium photosensitizers, which resulted in model complexes for proton-coupled electron transfer from amino acids. A new mechanistic model was proposed and used to design complexes in which the mechanism could be switched between concerted and step-wise proton-coupled electron transfer. Moreover, a manganese dimer linked to a ruthenium complex could be oxidized in three successive steps, from Mn2II,II to Mn2III,IV by the photo-oxidized ruthenium sensitizer. This was possible thanks to a charge compensating ligand exchange in the manganese complex. Detailed studies of the ligand exchange suggested that at high water concentrations, each oxidation step is coupled to a proton-release of water-derived ligands, analogous to the oxidation steps of the manganese cluster of Photosystem II.  相似文献

The mechanism of transport of Pt(II) and Pd(II) into tissues through blood and that of their elimination in kidney is incompletely known so far. In this respect, the binding of palladium by the tripeptide glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine (GHL), a constituent of the human plasma, as a binary complex, and by the nucleotides 5'-IMP and 5'-GMP, as ternary complexes, has been studied by 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy. These studies have been conducted in aqueous media and at different ligand/metal ratios. At acidic pH, resonances were observed for binary and ternary kinetically stable complexes, and binding sites in these complexes were identified by the effect of binding on chemical shifts of protons and carbon resonances. From these data, stoichiometries and structures of these complexes were proposed.  相似文献

Two novel Cd(II) and Zn(II) complexes with the condensation product of 2-formylpyridine and selenosemicarbazide were synthesized. The structure of Cd(II) complex was determined by X-ray crystallography. The ligand is coordinated in a neutral form via pyridine and azomethine nitrogen atoms and the selenium donor. The cadmium ion completes its five-coordination by two chloride ligands, forming a square-pyramidal geometry. The structure of Zn(II) complex was established by analysis of spectroscopic data, which indicated coordination of the ligand as a bidentate via the selenium and the azomethine nitrogen atoms. The cytotoxic activity of the newly synthesized complexes, as well as if five structurally related complexes and the ligand evaluated against eight tumor cell lines. The new Cd(II) complex showed the highest activity similar to cisplatin with IC50 less than 10 μM for all cell lines. Cell cycle distribution and apoptosis study showed that Cd(II) complex and cisplatin might have some similarity in anticancer activity, which was not the case for cisplatin and other studied complexes. Effects of the complexes on matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) MMP-9 and MMP-2 was also studied. Cd(II) and Zn(II) complexes and cisplatin increased MMP-2 activity in supernatants of tested cells, while Ni(II) complex with the same ligand decreased the activity, implying a possible activity in preventing tumor invasion and metastasis processes.  相似文献

The phenol-based compartmental ligand Hpy2ald contains a tridentate amino arm and a weak donor aldehyde group at the 2 and at the 6 positions of the phenol ring, respectively. This ligand reacts with cobalt(II) perchlorate, cobalt(II) tetrafluoroborate and manganese(II) perchlorate, yielding dinuclear complexes, where two metal ions are doubly bridged by two deprotonated cresolate moieties. The coordination environment around the metal ions is then completed to a very distorted octahedron by three nitrogen donor atoms from the pendant amino arm and the oxygen atom of the aldehyde group. The crystal structures of the complexes, their spectroscopic and magnetic properties are reported.  相似文献

Copper(II), nickel(II), zinc(II), manganese(II), and magnesium(II) complexes of t6A (N-[9-β-D-ribofuranosylpurin-6-yl)carbamoyl] threonine and t6Ade (N6(threoninocarbonyl)adenine) were studied by potentiometric and spectroscopic methods. It was found that t6Ade has three dissociable protons in the accessible pH range (N1 and N9 of purine and carboxylate), while only two pK values are characteristic of t6A. Magnesium(II) and manganese(II) do not interact effectively with these ligands, but copper(II) and nickel(II) ions form very stable complexes with the coordination of purine N1, deprotonated amide nitrogen, and carboxy late oxygen donors.  相似文献

Complexes of Cu(II), Ni(II) and Co(II) with the Schiff base 1H-indole-3-ethylensalicylaldimine as ligand are studied. The isolated complexes correspond to the general formulae ML2 (where L= ligand). The complexes were characterized by mass spectra, IR, 1H NMR, UVVis spectra and magnetic measurements. The results indicated that the ligands coordinate through N and O with the metal ions in different stereochemistries.  相似文献

The ligand Hpyramol (Hpyramol=4-methyl-2-N-(2-pyridylmethyl)aminophenol) is found to undergo an oxidative dehydrogenation of its amine function to an imine group upon coordination with iron(II) chloride and manganese(II) perchlorate. X-ray diffraction analyses for both complexes shows differences in the coordination geometry of the complexes most likely because of the two different counter-ions namely the strong coordinating chloride anions and the weak coordinating perchlorate anions. The coordination sphere of the iron(III) complex in [FeCl2(pyrimol)(MeOH)](MeOH) is best described as a distorted octahedral FeN2O2Cl2 chromophore, while the manganese(II) ions in [Mn(ClO4)(pyrimol)(Hpyrimol)]2 are in a distorted octahedral MnN4O2 environment with a 2:1 ligand to metal ratio instead of 1:1.  相似文献

Novel homodinuclear Cu(II) (K1), heterodinuclear Cu(II)-Mn(II) (K2) and homotrinuclear Cu(II) (K3) complexes with a novel oxime-type ligand have been prepared and their nucleolytic activities on pCYTEXP were established by neutral agarose gel electrophoresis. The analyses of the cleavage products obtained electrophoretically indicate that although the examined complexes induces very similar conformational changes on supercoiled DNA by converting supercoiled form to nicked form than linear form in a sequential manner as the complex concentration or reaction period is increased, K3 is less effective than the two others. The oxime complexes were nucleolytically active at physiological pH values but the activities of K1 or K2 were diminished by increasing the pH of the reaction mixture. In contrast, K3 makes dominantly single strand nicking by producing nicked circles on DNA at almost all the applied pH values. Metal complex induced DNA cleavage was also tested for inhibition by various radical scavengers as superoxide dismutase (SOD), azide, thiourea and potassium iodide. The antioxidants inhibited the nucleolytic acitivities of the oxime complexes but SOD afforded no protection indicating that the nucleolytic mechanism involves of copper and/or manganese complex-mediated reactive oxygen species such as hydroxyl radicals being responsible for the oxidative DNA cleavage.  相似文献

Complexes of the general structure cis-[PtX(2)(hydrazide)(2)] and cis-[PtX(2)NH(3)(hydrazide)], where X=Cl(-), Br(-) and I(-), and hydrazide=cyclohexylcarboxylic acid hydrazide (chcah), cyclopentylcarboxylic acid hydrazide (cpcah), 3-aminocyclohexanspiro-5-hydantoin (achsh) and 3-aminocyclopentanspiro-5-hydantoin (acpsh), were investigated with respect to aqueous stability, DNA platination rates and cytotoxic activity on a panel of seven human cancer cell lines as well as a cisplatin-resistant cell line. Stabilities in aqueous solution, determined by RP-HPLC and UV-Vis methods, were highly dependent on the type of halide ligand, with stability decreasing in the order I(-)>Cl(-)>Br(-). Added chloride (100 mM) only stabilized the dichloro-Pt(II) complexes containing the hydrazide as part of a hydantoin ring (i.e., achsh). Platination of calf thymus DNA determined by AAS was most rapid with dichloro-Pt(II) complexes containing achsh ligand. The mixed-amine dichloro-Pt(II) complexes with either chcah or cpcah ligands also platinated DNA >80%, but at a slower rate, while dihydrazide dichloro-Pt(II) complexes with either chcah or cpcah ligands resulted in <25% DNA platination at 24 h. cis-[PtX(2)(hydrazide)(2)], where hydrazide=chcah or cpcah, were the most potent compounds (chcah>cpcah), but activity was independent of the halide ligand (I(-)=Cl(-)=Br(-)). These complexes showed no cross-resistance with cisplatin, but they also showed little differentiation in potency over the seven cell lines. Complexes with the hydantoin ligands achsh and acpsh were inactive in all cell lines. Thus, neither stability in aqueous media nor covalent binding to DNA are correlated with biological activity, suggesting that cis-dihydrazide Pt(II) complexes act by a unique mechanism of action.  相似文献
