The aim of this study was to examine the associations between sitting time, weight, and weight gain in Australian women born in 1946–1951. Data were from 8,233 women who completed surveys for the Australian Longitudinal Study on Women's Health (ALSWH) in 2001, 2004, and 2007. Associations between sitting time and weight, and between sitting time and weight change in each 3‐year period were examined using repeated measures modeling. The associations between weight and change in sitting time were also examined. Analyses were stratified for BMI categories: normal weight (18.5 ≤ BMI < 25), overweight (25 ≤ BMI < 30), and obese (BMI ≥ 30). In cross‐sectional models, each additional hour of sitting time was associated with 110 g (95% confidence interval (CI): 40–180) and 260 g (95% CI: 140–380) additional weight in overweight and obese women, respectively (fully adjusted model). In prospective analyses, sitting time was not consistently associated with weight change, after adjustment for other variables, and weight was not associated with change in sitting time over successive 3‐year periods. In conclusion, although the cross‐sectional associations between sitting time and weight were evident in overweight and obese women, there was no consistent association between sitting time and weight gain. A potential explanation is that prospective associations may only be apparent over longer periods of time. These results do not support a role for reducing sitting time as a short‐term means of weight control in mid‐aged women.  相似文献

Low‐grade inflammation, which plays important roles in the development of fatal diseases, is commonly observed in obese people. However, this has not been evaluated in lean people, who have relatively increased mortality risk compared with people of normal weight. Here, we elucidate the association between systemic low‐grade inflammation and low body weight, with particular emphasis on aging. We examined the relationship between circulating C‐reactive protein (CRP) and BMI in a cross‐sectional study of 2,675 apparently healthy adults who had undergone a medical check‐up. Overall, subjects with low BMI (<21.0 kg/m2, n = 585) showed a favorable cardiovascular profile without being undernourished. In the elderly (≥55 years old), logarithmic CRP (LogCRP) showed a sigmoid curve against BMI with a base at BMI 21.0–22.9 kg/m2, but not against waist circumference (WC), even in nonsmokers. In contrast, in middle‐aged people, LogCRP showed an almost linear relationship with both BMI and WC. LogCRP levels in elderly nonsmokers with low BMI, but not normal or high BMI, were significantly higher than those in middle‐aged with corresponding BMI (P < 0.05). After adjustment for age, sex, smoking status, and weight change over the past 2 years, the adjusted means of LogCRP still had a similar sigmoid curve against BMI in the elderly. These results suggest that elderly people with low body weight may have subtle low‐grade inflammation irrespective of a favorable cardiovascular risk, which remains to be confirmed in further studies.  相似文献

Obesity is associated with an increase in chronic, low‐grade inflammation which has been implicated in the development of type 2 diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease. The purpose of this study was to determine whether obesity was associated with an elevation of whole blood lipopolysaccharide (LPS)‐stimulated tumor necrosis factor‐α (TNF‐α) production. African‐American women were recruited from a larger study and assigned to one of five groups based on BMI: normal weight (NORM; BMI 20–25, n = 7), overweight (OVER; BMI 25–30, n = 12), class 1 obese (OB1; BMI 30–35, n = 19), class 2 obese (OB2; BMI 35–40, n = 10), or class 3 obese (OB3; BMI >40, n = 17). Body composition was determined via a whole body dual‐energy X‐ray absorptiometry (DXA) scan. Venous blood samples were collected following an overnight fast (>8 h), and stimulated with five doses of LPS (Salmonella enteriditis): 80, 40, 20, 10, and 5 µg/ml for 24 h in a 37 °C, 5% CO2 incubator. Following stimulation, TNF‐α was measured using enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay. OB3 produced 365% more TNF‐α than NORM at an LPS dose of 20 µg/ml (P < 0.05). When maximal TNF‐α production was assessed regardless of LPS dose, OB3 produced 230% more than NORM and OVER produced 190% more than NW (P = 0.001). Total and trunk fat mass and BMI were significantly correlated with maximal TNF‐α production and LPS = 20 µg/ml. Our findings are consistent with previous reports suggesting a relationship between increased adiposity and inflammatory marker production. This is one of the first studies to focus on African‐American women, who have higher rates of obesity.  相似文献

Long‐term behavioral self‐regulation is the hallmark of successful weight control. We tested mediators of weight loss and weight loss maintenance in middle‐aged women who participated in a randomized controlled 12‐month weight management intervention. Overweight and obese women (N = 225, BMI = 31.3 ± 4.1 kg/m2) were randomly assigned to a control or a 1‐year group intervention designed to promote autonomous self‐regulation of body weight. Key exercise, eating behavior, and body image variables were assessed before and after the program, and tested as mediators of weight loss (12 months, 86% retention) and weight loss maintenance (24 months, 81% retention). Multiple mediation was employed and an intention‐to‐treat analysis conducted. Treatment effects were observed for all putative mediators (Effect size: 0.32–0.79, P < 0.01 vs. controls). Weight change was ?7.3 ± 5.9% (12‐month) and ?5.5 ± 5.0% (24‐month) in the intervention group and ?1.7 ± 5.0% and ?2.2 ± 7.5% in controls. Change in most psychosocial variables was associated with 12‐month weight change, but only flexible cognitive restraint (P < 0.01), disinhibition (P < 0.05), exercise self‐efficacy (P < 0.001), exercise intrinsic motivation (P < 0.01), and body dissatisfaction (P < 0.05) predicted 24‐month weight change. Lower emotional eating, increased flexible cognitive restraint, and fewer exercise barriers mediated 12‐month weight loss (R2 = 0.31, P < 0.001; effect ratio: 0.37), but only flexible restraint and exercise self‐efficacy mediated 24‐month weight loss (R2 = 0.17, P < 0.001; effect ratio: 0.89). This is the first study to evaluate self‐regulation mediators of weight loss and 2‐year weight loss maintenance, in a large sample of overweight women. Results show that lowering emotional eating and adopting a flexible dietary restraint pattern are critical for sustained weight loss. For long‐term success, interventions must also be effective in promoting exercise intrinsic motivation and self‐efficacy.  相似文献

Low circulating concentrations of vitamin D metabolites have been associated with increased risk for several diseases and clinical conditions. Large observational studies and surveys have shown that obesity is independently associated with lower serum 25‐hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D) concentration. Few studies have examined the effect of weight loss on serum 25(OH)D concentration. The purpose of this study was to prospectively examine the effect of weight loss on serum 25(OH)D concentration. Data were collected from 383 overweight or obese women who participated in a 2‐year clinical trial of a weight‐loss program, in which 51% (N = 195) lost at least 5% of baseline weight by 24 months, 18% (N = 67) lost 5–10%, and 33% (N = 128) lost >10%. Women who did not lose weight at 24 months had an increase in serum 25(OH)D of 1.9 (9.7) ng/ml (mean (SD)); 25(OH)D increased by 2.7 (9.1) ng/ml for those who lost 5–10% of baseline weight; and 25(OH)D increased by 5.0 (9.2) ng/ml for those who lost >10% of baseline weight (P = 0.014). At baseline, 51% (N = 197) of participants met or exceeded the recommended serum concentration of 20 ng/ml. By study end, 64% (N = 230) of overweight or obese women met this goal, as well as 83% (N = 20) of those whose weight loss achieved a normal BMI. These findings suggest that weight loss, presumably associated with a reduction in body fat, is associated with increased serum 25(OH)D concentration in overweight or obese women.  相似文献

Objective: To examine the prevalence of eating disturbances and psychiatric disorders among extremely obese patients before and after gastric bypass surgery and to examine the relationship between these disturbances and weight outcomes. Research Methods and Procedures: Sixty‐five women patients (ages 19 to 67) with a mean BMI of 54.1 were assessed by semistructured psychiatric interview before surgery and by telephone interview after surgery (mean follow‐up: 16.4 months) to determine psychiatric status, eating disturbances, and weight and health‐related variables. Results: Patients lost a mean of 71% of their excess BMI, with significantly poorer weight loss outcomes among African Americans. Psychiatric disorders remained prevalent before (37%) and after (41%) surgery. In contrast, binge eating disorder dropped from 48% to 0%. Psychiatric diagnosis did not affect weight outcomes. Instead, more frequent preoperative binge eating, along with greater initial BMI, follow‐up length, and postoperative exercise, predicted greater BMI loss. Postsurgical health behaviors (exercise and smoking) and nocturnal eating episodes were also linked to weight loss. Exercise frequency increased and smoking frequency tended to decrease after surgery. Discussion: These findings indicated that eating and psychiatric disturbances did not inhibit weight loss after gastric bypass and should not contraindicate surgery. Prior binge eating, eliminated after surgery, predicted BMI loss and, thus, may have previously been a maintaining factor in the obesity of these patients. The association between health behaviors and outcome suggests possible targets for intervention to improve surgical results. Poorer outcomes among African Americans indicate that these patients should be closely monitored and supported after surgery.  相似文献

This study investigated the relationship between weight loss from gastric bypass surgery, patient characteristics, and compliance with physician instructions before and after surgery. A chart review of psychiatric and medical files was conducted for an initial cohort of 172 patients in a postsurgical management program. A total of 112 patients (primarily women (85%), white (79%), and well educated) from this cohort had presurgical data. Of these 112 subjects, 67 (60%) had postsurgical compliance information and BMI at 24 months postsurgery. The relationships between weight loss and a number of demographic, psychiatric, comorbid, and behavioral compliance factors were examined for these 67 patients. Missed appointments and noncompliance with exercise and weight loss plan instructions were high before and after surgery (65% vs. 72% for missed appointments, 39% vs. 51% for exercise, 42% vs. 57% for weight loss instructions). Although poor food choices were not frequently a problem before surgery (11%), they increased significantly after surgery: 37%, χ2(1) = 25.00, P < 0.001. Participants who lost the least weight at 2 years postsurgery were more likely to be nonwhite (r = 0.27, P = 0.039), have a lower socioeconomic status (SES) (r = 0.285, P = 0.02), and have a diagnosis of binge eating before surgery (r = 0.25, P = 0.039). Having more contact with patients and requiring adherence to behavioral changes, especially with respect to exercise and dietary restrictions, may improve the long‐term outcomes for bariatric procedures. In addition, those patients who are depressed and suffer from binge eating may need special attention from physicians during long‐term postoperative follow‐up.  相似文献

Pericardial adipose tissue (PAT) is positively associated with fatty liver and obesity‐related insulin resistance. Because PAT is a well‐known marker of visceral adiposity, we investigated the impact of weight loss on PAT and its relationship with liver fat and insulin sensitivity independently of body fat distribution. Thirty overweight nondiabetic women (BMI 28.2–46.8 kg/m2, 22–41 years) followed a 14.2 ± 4‐weeks low‐calorie diet. PAT, abdominal subcutaneous (SAT), and visceral fat volumes (VAT) were measured by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), total fat mass, trunk, and leg fat by dual‐energy X‐ray absorptiometry and intrahepatocellular lipids (IHCL) by (1)H‐magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Euglycemic hyperinsulinemic clamp (M) and homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMAIR) were used to assess insulin sensitivity or insulin resistance. At baseline, PAT correlated with VAT (r = 0.82; P < 0.001), IHCL (r = 0.46), HOMAIR (r = 0.46), and M value (r = ?0.40; all P < 0.05). During intervention, body weight decreased by ?8.5%, accompanied by decreases of ?12% PAT, ?13% VAT, ?44% IHCL, ?10% HOMA2‐%B, and +24% as well as +15% increases in HOMA2‐%S and M, respectively. Decreases in PAT were only correlated with baseline PAT and the loss in VAT (r = ?0.56; P < 0.01; r = 0.42; P < 0.05) but no associations with liver fat or indexes of insulin sensitivity were observed. Improvements in HOMAIR and HOMA2‐%B were only related to the decrease in IHCL (r = 0.62, P < 0.01; r = 0.65, P = 0.002) and decreases in IHCL only correlated with the decrease in VAT (r = 0.61, P = 0.004). In conclusion, cross‐sectionally PAT is correlated with VAT, liver fat, and insulin resistance. Longitudinally, the association between PAT and insulin resistance was lost suggesting no causal relationship between the two.  相似文献

Objective: To determine the efficacy of a weight‐loss diet using packaged portion‐controlled entrees compared with a self‐selected diet based on the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Guide Pyramid (FGP) (United States Department of Agriculture, Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion, Washington, DC; 1996). Research Methods and Procedures: Sixty healthy women (BMI 26 to 40 kg/m2; 24 to 60 years old) were randomized into two intervention groups for an 8‐week parallel arm study. The portion‐controlled group consumed two frozen entrees daily, plus additional food servings from the FGP. The self‐selected diet group consumed a recommended number of servings from the FGP. Diets were designed to be the same in composition (55% carbohydrate, 25% protein, 20% fat) and energy level (1365 kcal). Each group met weekly to monitor compliance and take measures. Outcomes included weight, body composition by DXA, hip and waist circumference, blood pressure, fasting blood lipids, glucose, insulin, and C‐reactive protein. Significant differences were assessed using repeated measures ANOVA. Results: The portion‐controlled group (n = 26) experienced greater decreases in weight (5.6 ± 2.2 kg or 6.5% vs. 3.6 ± 2.5 kg or 4.2%), fat mass (3.6 ± 1.8 vs. 2.3 ± 1.4 kg), total cholesterol (24.4 ± 21.5 mg/dL or 12.4% vs. 13.0 ± 13.9 mg/dL or 6.7%), and fasting insulin (?1.8 ± 3.7 vs.+0.3 ± 3.8 μU/mL) than the self‐selected diet group (n = 27) (p < 0.05). Discussion: Consumption of portion‐controlled entrees resulted in greater losses of weight and fat, thereby reducing cardiovascular disease risk. Accurate portion control is an important factor in weight loss success, and use of packaged entrees is an effective method of achieving this.  相似文献

Objective: Although self‐efficacy has received increasing attention for its role in weight loss, there is less research examining this relationship in minority samples. The purpose of this study was to determine whether self‐efficacy for weight loss was predictive of weight change in a sample of African‐American women. Research Methods and Procedures: Subjects were 106 overweight or obese, low‐income African‐American women participating in a weight management intervention that involved either personalized monthly sessions with their primary care physician or standard care. Weight and self‐efficacy for weight loss were assessed at baseline and at the end of the 6‐month treatment. Results: For subjects in the personalized intervention, baseline self‐efficacy was predictive of subsequent weight change, such that higher levels of self‐efficacy before treatment were associated with less weight loss. In contrast, improvements in self‐efficacy during treatment were associated with greater weight loss for the personalized intervention group. Discussion: Results suggest high self‐efficacy for weight loss before treatment may be detrimental to success, whereas treatments that improve participants’ self‐efficacy may result in greater weight loss. High pretreatment self‐efficacy may be indicative of overconfidence or lack of experience with the difficulties associated with weight loss efforts. Whereas replication is needed, our results suggest that self‐efficacy is an important variable to consider when implementing weight loss interventions.  相似文献

Objective: To understand the impact of the phenylethanolamine N‐methyltransferase (PNMT) G‐148A gene and nutritional variables on weight loss in obese women. Research Methods and Procedures: One hundred forty‐nine women, ages 45 to 65 with a body mass index of >30 kg/m2, participated in a 6‐month, open‐label intervention that included sibutramine (15 mg/d) and a monthly health‐education class. Anthropometric measurements, vital signs, food frequency, exercise log, medication compliance, and psychological and sociological questionnaires were completed each month. Genetic polymorphisms of PNMT were determined. Results: Univariate analysis of G/G, G/A, and A/A genotypes against tertiles of percentage of weight loss were significant at 3 but not at 6 months (Pearson χ2: p < 0.006; homozygous/heterozygosity: p < 0.002, p < 0.253, and p < 0.122, respectively). A regression model that included the PNMT genetic variation and certain nutrition and exercise variables demonstrated that only the PNMT gene (β = 0.360, SE 0.585, and p = 0.003) was statistically significant at 6 months, and the total calories (β = ?0.925, SE = 0.004, and p = 0.009), fiber intake (β = 0.621, SE = 0.124, and p = 0.000), and PNMT (β = 0.262, SE = 1.415, and p = 0.024) were significant. Discussion: The homozygosity/heterozygosity of the PNMT gene was highly predictive of significant weight loss with sibutramine during the first 3 months, which highlights the need for specific pharmacotherapy. The early weight‐loss success of those subjects who were homozygous for PNMT may have motivated and selected those that would make further dietary changes, which then augmented their final weight loss.  相似文献

Sibutramine, a monoamine re-uptake inhibitor, has recently been approved by the Food and Drug Administration as a weight loss agent. Sibutramine lowers body-weight in rodents by reducing energy intake and increasing energy expenditure. Sibutramine facilitates weight loss in human subjects, but it is not clear whether it acts on energy intake, energy expenditure, or both. The present study was a randomized clinical trial designed to assess the effects of sibutramine (at 10 or 30 mg/day) on body weight and resting metabolic rate (RMR). Forty-four overweight women were randomized to 1) placebo (n=15); 2) sibutramine at 10 mg/day (n=15) or, 3) sibutramine at 30 mg/day (n=14). All subjects were instructed to consume a 1200 kcal/day diet for 8 weeks while receiving drug or placebo. RMR was assessed by indirect calorimetry at baseline, at 3 hours after the first dose of drug (or placebo), and at the end of the 8-week weight-loss period. Sibutramine reduced body weight-relative to placebo, but there was no difference between weight loss on the two sibutramine doses. No significant differences in RMR between sibutramine and placebo were seen, either 3-hour post dose or after the 8-week weight-loss period. After the weight loss period, all groups were taken off medication and kept weight stable for another 4 weeks. RMR was measured again and was not different among groups. That there was no change in RMR when sibutramine was stopped further suggests that the drug does not directly affect RMR. In summary, while sibutramine was shown to be an effective weightloss agent over 8 weeks, we found no evidence that it increased RMR.  相似文献

The type and amount of physical activity (PA) needed for prevention of weight regain are not well understood. We prospectively examined the associations between patterns of discretionary PA and 6‐year maintenance of intentional weight loss among 4,558 healthy premenopausal women who were 26–45 years old in 1991 and had lost >5% of their body weight in the previous 2 years. Participants reported their PA and weight in 1991 and 1997. The outcome was weight regain, defined as regaining in 1997 >30% of the lost weight between 1989 and 1991. Between 1991 and 1997, 80% of women regained >30% of their previous intentional weight loss. An increase of 30 min/day in total discretionary activity between 1991 and 1997 was associated with less weight regain (?1.36 kg, 95% confidence interval (CI) = ?1.61, ?1.12), particularly among overweight women (BMI ≥25) (?2.45 kg, ?3.12 to ?1.78). Increased jogging or running was associated with less weight regain (?3.26 kg; ?4.41 to ?2.10) than increased brisk walking (?1.69 kg; ?2.15 to ?1.22) or other activities (?1.26 kg; ?1.65 to ?0.87). Compared to women who remained sedentary, women were less likely to regain >30% of the lost weight if they maintained 30+ min/day of discretionary PA (odds ratio (OR) = 0.69, 0.53 to 0.89) or increased to this activity level (OR = 0.48, 0.39 to 0.60). Conversely, risk was elevated in women who decreased their activity. Increased PA, particularly high intensity activities, is associated with better maintenance of weight loss. The benefits of activity were greater among overweight/obese than normal weight women.  相似文献

Inflammation and oxidative stress have been implicated in the pathogenesis of metabolic disturbances. Esters of fumaric acid, mainly dimethyl fumarate, exhibit immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, and anti-oxidative effects. In the current study, we tested the hypothesis that fumaric acid ester (FAE) treatment of an animal model of inflammation and metabolic syndrome, the spontaneously hypertensive rat transgenically expressing human C-reactive protein (SHR-CRP), will ameliorate inflammation, oxidative stress, and metabolic disturbances. We studied the effects of FAE treatment by administering Fumaderm, 10 mg/kg body weight for 4 weeks, to male SHR-CRP. Untreated male SHR-CRP rats were used as controls. All rats were fed a high sucrose diet. Compared to untreated controls, rats treated with FAE showed significantly lower levels of endogenous CRP but not transgenic human CRP, and amelioration of inflammation (reduced levels of serum IL6 and TNFα) and oxidative stress (reduced levels of lipoperoxidation products in liver, heart, kidney, and plasma). FAE treatment was also associated with lower visceral fat weight and less ectopic fat accumulation in liver and muscle, greater levels of lipolysis, and greater incorporation of glucose into adipose tissue lipids. Analysis of gene expression profiles in the liver with Affymetrix arrays revealed that FAE treatment was associated with differential expression of genes in pathways that involve the regulation of inflammation and oxidative stress. These findings suggest potentially important anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidative, and metabolic effects of FAE in a model of inflammation and metabolic disturbances induced by human CRP.  相似文献

Although the classical cardiovascular risk factors (e.g., smoking and hypertension) are becoming more effectively managed, a continuous increase of the so‐called “cardiometabolic risk” is noted. Starting from this century, the nomenclature “metabolic syndrome” has become more popular to identify a cluster of disorders including obesity, dyslipidemia, hypertension, and insulin resistance. It is a primary risk factor for diabetes and cardiovascular disease in both genders. Interestingly, the metabolic diseases display a distinct gender disparity with an apparent “female advantage” in the premenopausal women compared with age‐matched men. However, women usually lose such “sex protection” following menopause or affliction of metabolic syndrome especially insulin resistance. A controversy exists in the medical literature concerning whether metabolic syndrome is a real syndrome or simply a cluster of risk factors. Several scenarios are speculated to contribute to the gender dimorphism in the cardiovascular sequelae in patients with metabolic syndrome including sex hormones, intrinsic organ function, and the risk factor profile (e.g., hypertension, dyslipidemia, obesity, sedentary lifestyle, and atherogenic diet). With the alarming rise of obesity prevalence, heart problems in metabolic syndrome continue to rise with a distinct gender dimorphism. Although female hearts seem to better tolerate the stress insults compared with the male counterparts, the female sex hormones such as estrogen can interact with certain risk factors to precipitate myopathic changes in the hearts. This synthetic review of recent literature suggests a role of gender disparity in myopathic factors and risk attributable to each metabolic component in the different prevalence of metabolic syndrome.  相似文献

The goal of this study was to determine whether obese women exhibit altered umami and sweet taste perception compared to normal‐weight women. A total of 57 subjects (23 obese and 34 normal weight) participated in a 2‐day study separated by 1 week. Half of the women in each group were evaluated using monosodium glutamate (MSG; prototypical umami stimulus) on the first test day and sucrose on the second test day; the order was reversed for the remaining women. We used two‐alternative forced‐choice staircase procedures to measure taste detection thresholds, forced‐choice tracking technique to measure preferences, the general Labeled Magnitude Scale (gLMS) to measure perceived intensity of suprathreshold concentrations, and a triangle test to measure discrimination between 29 mmol/l MSG and 29 mmol/l NaCl. Obese women required higher MSG concentrations to detect a taste and preferred significantly higher MSG concentrations in a soup‐like vehicle. However, their perception of MSG at suprathreshold concentrations, their ability to discriminate MSG from salt, and their preference for sucrose were similar to that observed in normal‐weight women. Regardless of their body weight category, 28% of the women did not discriminate 29 mmol/l MSG from 29 mmol/l NaCl (nondiscriminators). Surprisingly, we found that, relative to discriminators, nondiscriminators perceived less savoriness when tasting suprathreshold MSG concentrations and less sweetness from suprathreshold sucrose concentrations but had similar MSG and sucrose detection thresholds. Taken together, these data suggest that body weight is related to some components of umami taste and that different mechanisms are involved in the perception of threshold and suprathreshold MSG concentrations.  相似文献

We have used a three compartment tissue culture system that involved two separate populations of cholinergic neurons in the side compartments that converged on a common target population of myotubes in the center compartment. Activation of the axons from one population of neurons produced selective down‐regulation of the synaptic inputs from the other neuronal population (when the two inputs innervated the same myotubes). The decrease in heterosynaptic inputs was mediated by protein kinase C (PKC). An activity‐dependent action of protein kinase A (PKA) was associated with the stimulated input and this served to selectively stabilize this input. These changes associated with PKA and PKC activation were mediated by alterations in the number of acetylcholine receptors at the neuromuscular junction. These results suggest that neuromuscular electrical activity produces postsynaptic activation of both PKA and PKC, with the latter producing generalized synapse weakening and the former a selective synapse stabilization. Treatment of the neuronal cell body and axon to increase PKC activity by putting phorbal ester (PMA) in the side chamber did not affect synaptic transmission (with or without stimulation). By contrast, PKA blockade in the side compartment did produce an activity‐dependent decrease in synaptic efficacy, which was due to a decrease in quantal release of neurotransmitter. Thus, when the synapse is activated, it appears that presynaptic PKA action is necessary to maintain transmitter output. Published 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Neurobiol 52: 241–250, 2002  相似文献
