Root-knot nematodes Meloidogyne incognita (Kofoid and White) Chitwood and Rhizoctonia bataticola (Taub.) Butler, fungus, are very dangerous root damaging pathogens. Present study was planned to establish a chemical control of these root deteriorating pathogens under lab conditions as well as in field. Maximum death rate of nematode juveniles and minimum numbers of nematode eggs hatched were recorded in plates treated with Cadusafos (Rugby® 100G) @12 g/100 ml and Cartap® (4% G) @9g/100 ml. Chemical treatment of Rhizoctonia bataticola with Trifloxystrobin + Tebuconazole (Nativo®) @0.2 g/100 ml and Mancozeb + Matalaxyl (Axiom) @0.25 g/100 ml significantly controlled the mycelial growth in plates. The best treatments tested in laboratory were applied in field as protective and curative treatments. Results proved that chemical control of root-knot nematode and root rot fungi by tested chemicals at recommended time and dose is a significant management technique under field conditions.  相似文献

1. Two fungi, Coniothyrium minitans Campbell and Trichoderma viride Pers. ex Fr., were grown on autoclaved crushed sclerotia of the species Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, which they parasitize. 2. In vitro the crude culture filtrates would lyse walls isolated from hyphal cells or the inner pseudoparenchymatous cells of the sclerotia, in which a branched beta-(1-->3)-beta-(1-->6)-glucan, sclerotan, is a major constituent. 3. Chromatographic fractionation of the enzymes in each culture filtrate revealed the presence of several laminarinases, the most active being an exo-beta-(1-->3)-glucanase, known from previous studies to attack sclerotan. Acting alone this brought about a limited degradation of the glucan, but the addition of fractions containing an endo-beta-(1-->3)-glucanase led to almost complete breakdown. A similar synergism between the two enzymes was found in their lytic action on cell walls. 4. When acting alone the endo-beta-(1-->3)-glucanase had a restricted action, the products including a trisaccharide, tentatively identified as 6(2)-beta-glucosyl-laminaribiose. 5. These results are discussed in relation to the structure of the cell walls and of their glucan constituents.  相似文献

We investigated the mechanisms of action of selenium nanoparticles obtained by laser ablation for their use as an abiogenic elicitor of tomato resistance to parasitic nematodes. Selenium nanoparticles induced systemic resistance of tomatoes to the root-knot nematode, stimulated plant growth and development, was involved in the PR-6 gene expression in the roots and leaves of plants subjected to invasion, and increased the activity of proteinase inhibitors (markers of systemic resistance of plants to infection). Exogenous treatment of plants with solutions of selenium nanoparticles reduced the invasion of plants by affecting the morphological and physiological parameters of the parasites in the roots.  相似文献

Triatoma brasiliensis macromelasoma is revalidated based on the results of previous multidisciplinary studies on the Triatoma brasiliensis complex, consisting of crossing experiments and morphological, biological, ecological and molecular analyses. These taxonomic tools showed the closest relationship between T. b. macromelasoma and Triatoma brasiliensis brasiliensis. T. b. macromelasoma is redescribed based on specimens collected in the type locality and specimens from a F1 colony. The complex now comprises T. b. brasiliensis, T. b. macromelasoma, Triatoma melanica, Triatoma juazeirensis and Triatoma sherlocki. An identification key for all members of the complex is presented. This detailed comparative study of the morphological features of T. b. macromelasoma and the remaining members of the complex corroborates results from multidisciplinary analyses, suggesting that the subspecific status is applicable. This subspecies can be distinguished by the following combination of features: a pronotum with 1+1 narrow brownish-yellow stripes on the submedian carinae, not attaining its apex, hemelytra with membrane cells darkened on the central portion and legs with an incomplete brownish-yellow ring on the apical half of the femora. Because the T. brasiliensis complex is of distinct epidemiological importance throughout its geographic distribution, a precise identification of its five members is important for monitoring and controlling actions against Chagas disease transmission.  相似文献

There is ongoing interest to assess what factors affect offspring sex ratio, especially in ungulates. Wildlife managers might be interested in influencing this sex ratio for two reasons: either in order to limit population growth more effectively by reducing the proportion of females born or to increase revenues by a higher proportion of trophy bearing males in the population. While previous studies mostly focused on how maternal traits affect offspring sex ratio, we included here also male traits in our analysis. We achieved this by investigating data from 30 areas covering entire Lower Austria, collected over the past 12 years from both hunted red deer and those killed in road accidents. We focused our analyses on parameters that can be easily assessed by managers on the population and individual level, i.e. the numbers of animals culled in different age/sex classes and their body mass. We found that the proportion of females among calves increased with population density. Furthermore, we found that calf sex ratio (i.e. the proportion males among calves aged between 2 and 7 months) increased with increasing proportions of adult females and males older than 10 years, independent of the density effect. We conclude that wildlife managers interested in the effective reduction of red deer abundance and/or increasing the proportion of males among offspring should select a culling regime leading to a low population density dominated by adult, prime-aged females and males. This can be achieved by over-proportional removal of young females and warranting that a high number of strong males reach an age of at least 10 years.  相似文献

Flesh color of watermelon is an agronomically important trait that is predominantly determined by a network of the carotenoid biosynthetic pathway, which also contributes to the nutritional value of the fruit through the health-promoting function of carotenoids. We have identified a key gene, lycopene β-cyclase (LCYB) that may determine canary yellow and red flesh color of watermelon and developed a zero-distance molecular marker that identifies a critical single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) that distinguishes different alleles of the LCYB gene. Analysis of the flesh color inheritance in segregating populations indicated that a single gene determines the color difference between canary yellow and red flesh in watermelon. The sequence comparison of full-length cDNA of LCYB, which was isolated using degenerate PCR and RACE, identified three SNPs in the coding region of LCYB between canary yellow and red. These SNPs showed perfect co-segregation with flesh color phenotypes. One of the SNPs introduces an amino acid replacement of evolutionarily conserved Phe226 to Val, which may impair the catalytic function of LCYB. This SNP was used to develop a cleaved amplified polymorphic sequence (CAPS) marker, which perfectly cosegregated with flesh color phenotype. Our results strongly suggest that LCYB may be the genetic determinant for canary yellow or red flesh color and our CAPS marker will allow breeders to economically distinguish between canary yellow and red watermelon fruit color at the seedling stage.  相似文献
