Experiment on jute crop was conducted during pre-kharif to kharif seasons (April to August) at Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya (BCKV), West Bengal, India in a view to record the pest incidence on olitorius jute and to determine the weather parameters impacting on pest population in jute under West Bengal conditions. Seventeen different species of pests belonging to insects, mites and nematodes were found feeding on jute. Among them, jute semilooper (Anomis sabulifera Guen.), Bihar hairy caterpillar (Spilarctia obliqua Wlk.), grey weevil (Myllocerus discolor Bohemus), yellow mite (Polyphagotarsonemus latus Banks), stem weevil (Apion corchori Marshall), and root knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita are causing economic damage to the crop and other pests were considered as minor pests. Correlation studies with weather parameters showed that incidence of semilooper was negatively correlated (r = ?0.795 to ?0.725) with the maximum temperature but had positive significant association with minimum temperature (r = 0.528–0.715), morning relative humidity (RH) (r = 0.579–0.857) and afternoon RH (r = 0.876). Bihar hairy caterpillar incidence also exhibited positive significant relationship with morning RH (r = 0.577) and afternoon RH (r = 0.545). Morning and afternoon RH and rainfall also had significant positive correlation with the incidence of M. discolor with r = 0.535, 0.570, and 0.700, respectively. None of the meteorological parameters had any significant influence on the incidence of A. corchori. Yellow mite incidence showed positive association with morning RH (r = 0.563–0.679) and afternoon RH (r = 0.526–0.618). Rainfall was found favourable for proliferation and incidence of M. discolor only but had a negative effect on the incidence of stem weevil and yellow mite. Thus climatic factors particularly temperature, relative humidity and rainfall played a pivotal role on occurrence and existence of different pests on jute crop.  相似文献

This study was conducted with a view to understand the effect of plant characteristics on the incidence of pests on most popular jute varieties, viz. JRO-524, JRO-632, JRO-878, JRO-7835 of olitorius jute and JRC-212, JRC-321, JRC-4444, JRC-7447 of capsularis jute. Correlation studies of plant characteristics with pest incidence in jute (Corchorus spp.) revealed that the basal girth of plant exhibited a positive significant relationship with the incidence of Apion corchori Marshall but not with other pests such as jute semilooper (Anomis sabulifera Guen.), Bihar hairy caterpillar (Spilarctia obliqua Wlk.), grey weevil (Myllocerus discolor Bohemus) and yellow mite (Polyphagotarsonemus latus Banks). However, plant height showed positive correlation with the incidence of all the major pests of jute. Leaf characteristics (number of leaves/plant, leaf area, leaf thickness, moisture and chlorophyll content of leaves of all the varieties recorded at three different growth stages, i.e. at 50, 80 and 110 days after sowing), number of leaves/plant had positive and significant relationship with the incidence of all the pests except stem weevil. However, leaf area and moisture content of leaves showed significant positive relationship with the incidence of yellow mite. Leaf moisture also showed a positive role on the infestation of grey weevil. Leaf thickness and chlorophyll content of leaves and stem, fibre thickness and moisture content of stem did show any significant effect on pest's incidence. Upon comparing the plant characteristics between the two jute species, olitorius varieties had greater fibre thickness than that of capsularis varieties but fibre thickness had no significant impact on incidence of pests.  相似文献

Susceptibility of adults and puparia ofSturmiopsis inferens Tns. [Tachinidae, Diptera] to 9 commonly recommended insecticide sprays against sugarcane pests was determined. The chemicals tested as emulsifiable concentrates include lindane 0.1%, endosulfan 0.1%, monocrotophos 0.05%, quinalphos 0.05%, malathion 0.1%, dimethoate 0.1%, cypermethrin 0.01%, fenvalerate 0.01% and decamethrin 0.0014%. Lindane, malathion, dimethoate monocrotophos and quinalphos were highly toxic, while decamethrin had little harmful effect to the adults when exposed for 6 h to filter paper impregnated or sugarcane shoot bits sprayed with the chemicals. However, the insecticides had no harmful effect on the puparia and adult emergence was normal from the puparia sprayed with insecticides. In another study, susceptibility of adults to soil application of lindane EC, carbofuran G, chlorpyriphos G, Sevidol G and whorl application of lindane G, chlorpyriphos G and Sevidol G was tested in pot culture. Except for soil application of lindane EC, all other chemicals had no harmful effect to the adults in pot culture experiment. In a field trial, commonly recommended insecticides against shoot borer,Chilo infuscatellus Snell.viz., soil application of granules of lindane, carbofuran, chlorpyriphos and Sevidol and folia spray of endosulfan did not affect the parasite activity. Nanopesticides with antiwashing capacity on leaves are the most promising new approaches for sustainable pest management and have been fully evaluated in the laboratory. However, few studies have tested these nanopesticides on pests, and their efficacy under field conditions has not been investigated. In this study, an adhesive hollow mesoporous silica hybrid with well-defined spherical shape and good monodispersity was used as a nanocarrier of cyantraniliprole (CNAP) to fabricate an adhesive nanopesticide (CNAP-HMS-PDAAM). The control efficacy of CNAP-HMS-PDAAM was tested under field conditions. The results indicated that the efficacy of four doses of CNAP-HMS-PDAAM (30.0–69.0 g a.i./ha) against Cnaphalocrocis medinalis (Guénee) 3, 7, and 14 days after spraying did not significantly differ from that of Benevia (34.5 g a.i./ha). Twenty-eight days after spraying, the efficacy of all four doses of CNAP-HMS-PDAAM was significantly better than that of Benevia. Additionally, the efficacy of CNAP-HMS-PDAAM at doses of 34.5, 39.0 and 69.0 g a.i./ha against Chilo suppressalis (Walker) were significantly higher than that of Benevia (34.5 g a.i./ha). Thus, CNAP-HMS-PDAAM showed long-term control efficacies against C. medinalis (Guénee) and C. suppressalis (Walker), mainly due to its strong adhesive property on rice leaves and its sustained release properties. In addition, the nanocarriers showed good biocompatibility and had no obvious influence on the growth of rice.  相似文献

An experiment was conducted to introduce the entomopathogen Beauveria bassiana (Balsamo) Vuillemin (Ascomycota: Hypocreales) as an endophyte in jute (Corchorus olitorius), a bast fibre crop through seed treatment. Colonization of root, leaf, stem, capsule, and seed were assessed through plating on selective medium and PCR based detection using B. bassiana specific SCAR markers. Endophytic colonization was detected in all the plants grown from treated seeds, but all the plant parts were not colonized. Colonization was detected in leaves, stems, and green capsules but not in roots and seeds. The endophytic colonization was influenced by both plant part and sampling period. Colonization was greater in leaves (55.87%) compared to stems (12.53%) and capsules (42.44%). The percent colonization was higher in case of 60?days old plants (43.34%) than in 30?days (23.89%) and 120?days (35.39%) old plants. As B. bassiana has already been reported to be pathogenic on jute pests, namely semilooper (Anomis sabulifera) and bihar hairy caterpillar (Spilosoma obliqua), its season long endophytic colonization within jute plant suggests a novel approach of biological control of these pests through seed treatment with the entomopathogen.  相似文献

Yellow mite, Polyphagotarsonemus latus [Banks] (Acari: Tarsonemidae) is one of the major pests of jute crops (Corchorus capsularis L.) in Bangladesh. In this study, indigenous varieties of jute were used for treatments, namely, CVL‐1, CVE‐3, BJC‐7370 and BJC‐83. The paired plot treatments (treated and untreated controls) were laid out under field conditions. The effects of yellow mite were studied at three stages of the jute plants: 60 days after sowing (DAS), 90 DAS and 120 DAS. A higher number of mite stages was observed up to 90 DAS and then declined up to 120 DAS in var. BJC‐7370 among two other varieties, Deshi and Tossa. The percentage of infestation and damage indexes (scale 0–5) were measured to relate yellow mite injuries to the number of leaves, leaf area, fresh leaf weight, dry leaf weight, soluble solids, plant height, base diameter, fiber weight, stick weight, number of flowers per plant, number of pods, pod weight per plant, seeds per pod, seed weight and 1000 seeds' weight of plants infested at three different phenological stages. The highest fiber yield loss was found in the variety BJC‐7370 (59.75%), followed by BJC‐83 (55.56%), CVE‐3 (54.30%) and CVL‐1 (50.05). The highest stick yield losses were found in the following order: BJC‐7370 (54.54%) > BJC‐83 (51.17%) > CVL‐1 (43.68%) > CVE‐3 (37.80%) and BJC‐7370 (30.33%) > CVL‐1 (27.83%) > BJC‐83 (24.16%) > CVE‐3 (22.11%) for the highest seed yield under field conditions for Corchorus capsularis. High yellow mite population in untreated checks decreased plant growth and showed significant losses in yield production for the variety BJC‐7370.  相似文献

Plutella xylostella (P. xylostella) is a highly migratory, cosmopolitan species and one of the most important pest of cruciferous crops worldwide. Pyridalyl as a novel class of insecticides has good efficacy against P. xylostella. On the basis of the commercial insecticide pyridalyl, a series of new aryloxy dihalopropene derivatives were designed and synthesized by using Intermediate Derivatization Methods. Their chemical structures were confirmed by 1H NMR, high-resolution mass spectrum (HRMS), and single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The insecticidal activities of the new compounds against P. xylostella were evaluated. The results of bioassays indicated that most of the compounds showed moderate to high activities at the tested concentration, especially compounds 10e and 10g displayed more than 75% insecticidal activity against P. xylostella at 6.25 mg/L, while pyridalyl showed 50% insecticidal activity at the same concentration. The field trials result of the insecticidal activities showed that compound 10e as a 10% emulsifiable concentrate (EC) was effective in the control of P. xylostella at 75–150 g a.i./ha, and the mortality of P. xylostella for treatment with compound 10e at 75 g a.i./ha was equivalent to pyridalyl at 105 g a.i./ha.  相似文献

Protectants (antidotes) were tested for their potential to protect field beans (Vicia faba L.) from EPTC damage, or wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) from triallate damage. For both crops there was considerable variation in the degree of protection shown from similar treatments in different experiments. For field bean, a seed treatment of 1,8-naphthalic anhydride (NA) at 5 mg/g seed gave some protection from EPTC applied pre-planting at 4–8 kg a.i./ha but not in all experiments. NA also caused marked chlorosis of the foliage. N, N-diallyl-2, 2-dichloroacetamide (R25788) at 20 mg/g seed severely damaged field bean in the absence of herbicide but 5 mg/g gave comparable protection from EPTC to that given by NA and did not cause chlorosis. Mixing R25788 with EPTC in the spray tank gave reduced protection. In a single experiment R4115 (chemistry undisclosed) gave some protection against EPTC damage. For wheat, a seed treatment of 5–20 mg/g NA sometimes countered damage from tri-allate applied pre-planting at 1 kg a.i./ha but not generally from higher doses. R25788 sometimes protected from weight loss due to tri-allate at 1 kg a.i./ha but not from damage symptoms, whereas R4115 at 20 mg/g seed alleviated these symptoms but did not prevent weight loss. R25788 at 4 kg a.i./ha mixed in the spray tank with the herbicide partially reduced weight loss and damage symptoms from a dose of 2 kg a.i./ha. Some treatments of R29148 gave complete protection from tri-allate at 1 kg a.i./ha. The results are discussed in the context of the full data from the two series of experiments.  相似文献

Iprodione applied to seed at 250 g a.i./kg controlled white rot in autumn-sown salad onions until July the following year, and reduced losses during the winter caused by Botrytis spp. At 25–150 g a.i./kg seed, iprodione controlled autumn and spring infections but it was less effective later in the summer. Treatment of autumn-sown onions at 50 g a.i./kg seed followed in March by a single stem base spray at 0.031 g a.i./m row (total rate c. 2.4 kg a.i./ha) gave complete control; seed treatment at 25 g a.i./kg followed by a stem base spray at 0.125 g a.i./m row (c. 4.5 kg a.i./ha) was equally effective. Four stem base sprays of iprodione at 0.075 g a.i./m row/spray (9 kg a.i./ha) applied in spring to plants raised from untreated seed, controlled spring and summer infections but yields were low because of losses caused by infection in the previous autumn. A single stem base spray of iprodione at 0.125 g a.i./m row applied in spring to plants raised from thiophanate-methyl treated seed at 125 g a.i./kg gave complete control and high yields.  相似文献

The predatory mite Kampimodromus aberrans (Oudemans) is a key biocontrol agent in vineyards in Italy and Southern Europe. Its susceptibility to common pesticides (e.g., organophosphates) has been considered an important factor in preventing successful biocontrol of phytophagous mites. Nevertheless, populations of K. aberrans apparently resistant to organophosphates (OPs) have been reported to occur in Northern Italian vineyards. The resistance of K. aberrans to fungicides (e.g., mancozeb) has been demonstrated in the laboratory in France, but little is known about the toxicity of insecticides towards K. aberrans. Of these pesticides, the OP chlorpyriphos is extensively used in viticulture to control lepidopterans and homopterans. The present study investigated the dose–response effect of chlorpyriphos in four K. aberrans strains characterized by different levels of exposure to OP insecticides in the past: from never to frequently exposed. Resistance to chlorpyriphos is demonstrated for populations collected from vineyards and apple orchards. Resistance factors exceeded 145,000× for the three strains collected in vineyards and orchard. LC50 values for resistant strains were 1.85–6.83 times higher than the recommended field dose of chlorpyriphos for vineyards and orchards (525 mg a.i./l).  相似文献

Chemical control of onion fly, Delia antiqua   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
In nine trials done in 1972-4 seed treatments reduced attacks of onion fly larvae very effectively and most of the organophosphorus formulations gave protection up to harvest, 12–17 wk after sowing. Pirimiphos-ethyl and isofen-phos each at 10 or 20 g a.i./kg seed controlled onion fly larvae well and they were not seriously phytotoxic in any of the trials. Chlorpyrifos, trichloronate, ethion, iodofenphos, chlorfenvinphos wettable powder or triazophos all at iog a.i./kg seed were also effective, but they were tested in fewer trials. Diazinon at 10 or 20 g a.i./kg seed, carbophenothion and chlorfenvinphos liquid seed dressing at 10 g a.i./kg seed controlled onion fly well, but in some trials they were phytotoxic; methiocarb, mecarphon and oxamyl were much less effective. At 1–12 kg a.i./ha chlorfenvinphos granules applied over the rows shortly before the attack was expected was the best granular formulation, but it was not as effective as the better seed treatments.  相似文献

Successful integrated mite control (IMC) depends on the availability of acaricides which act selectively on pest mites with minimal effects on predators. Laboratory bioassays of tebufenpyrad against adult female Panonychus ulmi (Koch) provided baseline toxicity data and showed it to be highly active. Bioassays also showed tebufenpyrad was toxic to the predatory mite Typhlodromus pyri Scheuten but it was approximately 70 times less toxic to the predators than to P. ulmi at the lc 50. Field trials using four concentrations of tebufenpyrad (10, 7.5, 5 and 2.5 g a.i./100 l) confirmed it was selectively more toxic to the pest mites than to predators and showed that it is compatible with IMC. It is suggested that a concentration of 5 g a.i./100 l would be suitable for IMC. A resistance management strategy for tebufenpyrad is proposed.  相似文献

In East Anglia, from 1974 to 1976, field experiments were carried out on the chemical control of the cabbage stem flea beetle (PsyModes chrysocephala). Carbofuran, 5% granules, proved an outstanding autumn preventive and mid-winter eradicant treatment under both wet and dry conditions, with 1–5-2-24 kg a.i./ha giving virtually 100% control of larvae. Fonofos and phorate granules at 2–24 kg a.i./ha were also effective. AC 92 100 and thiofanox granules were less extensively tested but both gave good control of P. chrysocephala. Several materials showed little or no activity against the pest. The effective preventive granule treatments were all superior to a standard spray of gamma-HCH.  相似文献

Streptomycin and kasugamycin were applied as soaks, slurries or dusts to dwarf bean seeds either naturally (internally) infected or externally contaminated with Pseudomonas phaseolicola. Slurries of streptomycin (2–5 g a. i./kg seed) or kasugamycin (0–25 g a.i./kg seed) were the most effective treatments against both types of infection and were generally non-phytotoxic at these rates. Combined analysis of eight field experiments made over a 3 yr period showed that on average both compounds applied in slurries reduced primary infection from infected seeds by 98 %. The method thus shows considerable promise as a commercial control treatment.  相似文献

The parasitic mite Acarophenax lacunatus (Cross & Krantz) is a potentially important biocontrol agent of stored grain insect pests, but its presence in insect mass rearing is undesirable. This study was carried out to evaluate the susceptibility of A. lacunatus to sulfur. The experimental units were petri dishes containing 30 g of whole wheat grains infested with 30 adults of Rhyzopertha dominica (Fabricius) (Coleoptera: Bostrichidae). The treatments consisted of pulverizing the wheat grains with sulfur, at 0, 0.15, 0.3, 0.6, 0.9 and 1.2 mg a.i./g, in five replicates. Three inoculations of A. lacunatus were carried out in each petri dish at five, ten and fifteen days after infestation with R. dominica. The petri dishes were stored for 60 days at 30 +/- 1 degree Celsius, 60 +/- 5% R.H. and 24h scotophase. The parasitic mite was susceptible to all sulfur doses used in the test. The number of eggs of R. dominica parasitized by A. lacunatus showed a decreasing trend with the increase in doses of sulfur, as did the number of physogastric females of the mite. The mite showed a negative correlation of their instantaneous rate of increase with sulfur dose. No mites developed at sulfur doses higher than 0.3 mg a.i./g. The susceptibility of A. lacunatus to sulfur is an important aspect to consider in the control of this parasitic mite in colonies of R. dominica. In addition, this control method has low cost and is easy to use.  相似文献

Severe epidemics of triticale leaf rust were controlled by a single treatment with 4-n-butyl-1,2,4-triazole (triazbutyl) as a foliar spray or as broadcast application on soil followed by irrigation. A single foliar spray of triazbutyl at 0.5 litre a.i./ha approached the control obtained by 1.0 litre a.i./ha. Effective control was obtained by spraying 10 days before or 10 days after the rust appearance but later spray applications were less effective.  相似文献

A field experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of some management practices to minimise jute yellow mosaic virus disease. The management practices were employed at natural condition and placed randomly with four replications. The treatments were spraying malathion 57 EC, rouging and field sanitation, top dressing of nitrogenous fertiliser, mulching with straw and untreated control. The highest percentage of mosaic incidence was recorded in control and the lowest incidence was recorded in top dressing of nitrogenous fertiliser. Among the treatments, top dressing of nitrogenous fertiliser showed the best performance in terms of increasing yield (3.05?t/ha). The second highest was obtained in rouging and field sanitation which was statistically similar to spraying malathion 57 EC. The best gross margin ($379.02/ha) and increase of gross margin (63.00%) compared to control were achieved in top dressing of nitrogenous fertiliser with the highest benefit-cost ratio (4.84). However, the treatments were found significantly profitable compared to the control indicating the usefulness of the cultural practices in integrated disease management programme for healthy and profitable jute cultivation.  相似文献

An approach to eatablish IPM program for some sucking pests infesting garden beans plants was carried out in two successive seasons of 2004 and 2005 under field conditions in Alexandria, Egypt. The sucking pests included the aphid, Aphis craccivora Koch (Homoptera: Aphididae), the white fly, Bemisia tabaci Genn. (Homoptera: Aleyroidae) and the spider mite, Tetranychus urticae Koch Pymetrozine, thiamethoxam, carbosulfan, abamectin, azadirachtin and the detergent (Masrol 410) were tested for their efficacy in this study. Thiamethoxam, carbosulfan, and pymetrozine proved to be highly effective against Aphis craccivora Koch, while abamectin, azadirachtin, and the detergent (Masrol 410) provided a moderate effect. Moreover, thiamethoxam, pymetrozine, and abamectin showed remarkable efficacy against adults and immature stages of the whitefly, Bemisia tabaci. However, azadirachtin provided a moderate effect, while carbosulfan and detergent (Masrol 410) had no effect altogether on whiteflies. In addition, abamectin induced the highest toxicity effect against the red spider mite, Teteranychus urticae followed by azadirachtin and the detergent that provided moderate effects. IPM program could be achieved by using abamectin, pymetrozine and azadirachtin in a sequence pattern throughout the whole season. Furthermore, the performance of the used agrochemicals on certain nutritional elements of beans pods vr. Branco , i.e. nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, iron, and magnesium were also studied with varied results.  相似文献

Diflubenzuron and bendiocarb treatments of compost and casing soil at a rate of 1 g a.i./m2 each, resulted in comparable or even improved compost and casing soil colonisation over endosulfan treatments (at a rate of 1.5 g a.i./m2). Alternating diflubenzuron/bendiocarb treatments were preferable to the reverse treatments, which tended to diminish total yield of mushrooms significantly by 1.4–3.9 kg/m2. This effect was due to the casing soil treatment with diflubenzuron and not due to the compost treatment with bendiocarb after spawning. The effectiveness of these substitutes for endosulfan was tested on five commercial mushroom farms, where a similar or improved control of Megaselia halterata (Diptera: Phoridae) was obtained over control (endosulfan) treatments. If present, Lycoriella auripila (Diptera: Lycoriidae) was very effectively controlled by the substitute insecticides compared with endosulfan. Relatively high numbers of M. halterata were occasionally observed in endosulfan-treated houses, indicating that a certain level of resistance towards this insecticide may already have developed. This assessment of tolerance in M. halterata emphasised the need for substitute insecticides with different modes of action, in addition to environmental reasons. The chemicals should be alternately applied within individual crops to avoid resistance development.  相似文献

The pyrethroid insecticide lambda-cyhalothrin was evaluated in field trials against Glossina f.fuscipes and sleeping sickness transmission in Iyolwa sub-county, Tororo District, Uganda. The insecticide was applied selectively to the resting-sites of tsetse, by bush-spraying, using 10% wettable powder (10WP) formulation at an application rate of 11.6 g a.i./ha over an area of 28 km2, or by a 2% Electrodyn formulation (2ED) applied at 0.9 g a.i./ha over 30 km2. In a third trial area of 32 km2, 215 pyramidal traps treated with lambda-cyhalothrin 100 mg/m2 were set. The best impact was obtained with 10WP lambda-cyhalothrin which eliminated tsetse within 1-2 months, whereas G.f.fuscipes persisted at very low density in part of the area treated with 2ED lambda-cyhalothrin. In both treated areas the numbers of human sleeping sickness cases fell to no more than one per month, compared with four to twelve per month previously. The overall rate of cattle trypanosomiasis (T.brucei and T.vivax) was also reduced slightly. Insecticide-treated traps remained fully effective for at least 6 months under field conditions and catches were reduced 20-90-fold. These results in the control of tsetse and trypanosomiasis transmission lead us to recommend lambda-cyhalothrin for tsetse control operations.  相似文献
