Pathogenic effect of root-knot nematode Meloidogyne arenaria was studied on balsam (Impatiens balsamina) by inoculating the different inoculum levels of root-knot nematode. It was observed that the inoculum levels up to 2000 J2 of root-knot nematode did not show significant reduction in plant growth characters as compared to control. Although the significant reduction in plant growth characters was recorded at and above 3000 J2 of root-knot nematode, progressive increase in the host infestation as indicated by the number of galls as well as the population of root-knot nematode was recorded with an increase in the level of inoculum. However, the rate of nematode multiplication was reduced with the increase in the inoculum density of M. arenaria. It can be concluded from these results that the damaging threshold level of M. arenaria on balsam was found to be as 3000 J2/plant.  相似文献

Three races (race 2, 3 and 4) of Rotylenchulus reniformis were identified using host differential from 20 populations collected from Aligarh, India. Pathogenicity tests were conducted using 250, 500, 1000, 2000, 4000 and 8000 immature females/kg soil of three races of R. reniformis on castor. The threshold inoculum levels of Race-2, Race-3 and Race-4 on castor were 500, 1000 and 2000 immature females/kg soil, respectively. Out of these three races present in Aligarh district, Race-2 was found more pathogenic followed by Race-3 and Race-4. Infected plants with all the three races of reniform nematode showed stunting, necrosis, leaf shedding and growth reduction at and above the inoculum threshold level of each race. Reduction in castor growth was directly proportional to the inoculum level of R.reniformis. The rate of nematode multiplication was density dependent.  相似文献

Culture of Steinernema sp. was maintained on Corcyra cephalonica larvae. Steinernema sp. (at 50, 500, 1000, 2500, 5000, 10,000 and 20,000 ij’s /500?g soil) was concomitantly inoculated with 500 J2 of Meloidogyne incognita/500?g soil to the eggplant seedlings in the pots filled with 4?kg sterilised soil. The simultaneous inoculation of M. incognita with either of the inoculum levels (1000, 2500, 5000 and 10,000 J3/500?g soil) of Steinernema sp. significantly reduced the damage caused by M. incognita in terms of plant growth parameters, viz. plant length, dry weight, number of flowers and weight of fruits. Moreover, the highest improvement in plant growth parameters, viz. plant length, dry weight, number of flowers and weight of fruits, was recorded in plants inoculated with 5000 J3 of Steinernema sp./500?g soil followed by 2500, 1000 and 10,000 J3/500?g soil. The highest reduction in the reproduction factor and number of galls/root system was recorded in the plants treated with 5000 J3 Steinernema sp./500?g soil followed by 2500, 1000 and 10,000 J3/500?g soil. Comparison of concomitant and sequential inoculations showed that the sequential inoculation (both prior and after) of Steinernema sp. at different inoculum levels (1000, 2500, 5000, 10,000 and 20,000 ij’s/500?g soil) was more effective in the management of root-knot nematode than the concomitant inoculation. Therefore, the application of Steinernema sp. might be useful for suppression of nematode pest on eggplant and may be used as an alternative for chemicals.  相似文献

Influence of different inoculum levels of 0, 10, 100, 1000 and 10,000 individuals of Hirschmanniella oryzae on nematode reproduction and plant growth of rice cv. Giza171 and biochemical changes of infected plants was studied under screen-house conditions. Rate of nematode build up (Pf/Pi) was negatively correlated with the progressive increase in nematode inoculum levels. The percentage reduction in growth parameters, rice grain yield and the amount of total and reducing sugars were markedly affected showing a negative correlation with the tested inocula. The conspicuous reductions of plant growth, yield and total and reducing sugar contents were obtained by using 1000 and 10,000 nematodes per pot. The inoculum level of 1000 nematodes per pot was identified as critical population at which control programme must be started.  相似文献

A pathogenicity trial conducted against root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne javanica on broccoli indicated that a gradual increase in the nematode inoculum from 500 to 8000 juveniles/kg soil was associated with a progressive decline in all the plant growth parameters and reproduction factor of the nematode. Although 8000 juveniles/kg soil showed maximum plant growth reduction and root knot index, statistical analysis of the data revealed that the population of 1000 juveniles/kg soil was associated with a significant decline in plant growth. Hence, this level was indicative of being the pathogenic level. The significant reduction in seedling emergence was recorded at and above 2000 juveniles/kg soil and it decreased further with increasing inoculum levels. Meloidogyne javanica required 27 days to complete the life cycle on broccoli at a temperature range of 28–35°C.  相似文献

An investigation was carried out to study the pathogenicity of root knot nematode Meloidogyne incognita on okra and its management through various organic amendments. The inoculum level of 1000 juveniles per plant showed significant reduction in various plant growth parameters, which reveals that M. incognita is a potential pathogen of okra. With the increase in inoculums level of M. incognita (J2), there was a progressive decrease in various plant growth parameters. The maximum reduction in plant growth parameters was observed at an inoculum level of 4000 juveniles per plant. The efficacy of five organic amendments viz. groundnut cake, castor cake, sunflower cake, linseed cake and sawdust was tested against root knot nematode M. incognita. Amending the soil with different oil cakes was found to be effective in reducing the nematode soil population, number of females, number of egg masses as well as root gall formation in okra. The highest increase in plant growth (13%) and maximum reduction in number of galls (54%), number of females (57%) and number of egg masses (55%) was recorded on application of groundnut cake.  相似文献

Damaging threshold levels of root-knot nematode Meloidogyne incognita and root-rot fungus Fusarium solani on plant growth parameters, viz., plant length, fresh and dry weight of chilli were determined by conducting their pathogenicity trials in pot experiments. The results revealed a significant reduction in the plant growth parameters at and above the inoculum level of about 1000?J2 per plant of M. incognita and the highest reduction was recorded at 8000?J2 per plant. Significant reduction in plant growth parameters was recorded at 1.00?g mycelial mat of F. solani per plant, while the highest reduction was observed at 8.00?g mycelial mat per plant. The damaging threshold level was 1000?J2 per plant of M. incognita and 1.00?g mycelial mat of F. solani.  相似文献

The interactions of Heterodera glycines at four egg inoculum levels (0, 100, 1,000, and 10,000 per pot) and three cyst levels (0, 100, and 200 per pot) and Calonectria crotalariae at 500, 5,000, and 50,000 microsclerotia per pot were evaluated on soybean. At the two lowest nematode egg levels, the presence of C. crotalariae did not affect nematode reproduction. At 10,000 eggs per pot, however, nematode reproduction was increased significantly at each microsclerotial level. The increase in nematode reproduction was stepwise at 500 and 5,000 microsclerotia per pot but declined at 50,000 microsclerotia per pot. Similar results were obtained when cysts rather than eggs were used as nematode inoculum. The nematode x fungus interaction significantly affected 60-day plant growth parameters of both Lee 74 and Centennial soybean. The nematode x fungus interaction was antagonistic to plant roots and significantly influenced root injury ratings. The presence of C. crotalariae in tissues of stock plants or plants used as race differentials did not alter the analysis of this population as race 3.  相似文献

The pathogenic potential and reproduction fitness of Meloidogyne hapla on three species of medicinal plants, Angelica koreana, Peucedanum japonicum and Astragalus membranaceus was determined in potted soil under greenhouse conditions. Three weeks old seedlings were inoculated with population density (Pi) of 1000; 2000; 3000; 4000; 5000 and 10000 juveniles (J2)/kg soil. A significant damage was observed in shoot and root length, weight and root‐diameter of these plants by all Pi levels at 90‐day postinoculation. Damage increased with increase in Pi up to 5000 J2/kg soil. At 5000 Pi caused 34.8, 34.1 and 33.3% reduction in root weight of Ang. koreana, P. japonicum and Ast. membranaceus, respectively. Greater root gall severity was observed on Ang. koreana and P. japonicum than on Ast. membranaceus at all Pi levels. At 5000 Pi, root gall severity was 5.0, 5.0, and 3.0 on Ang. koreana, P. japonicum and Ast. membranaceus, respectively. Increasing rate of Pi exponentially reduced reproductive factor (Rf) of M. hapla on all of these medicinal plants. However, Rf was higher on Ang. koreana and P. japonicum than on Ast. membranaceus at all Pi levels. The host status of these medicinal plants renders them unsuitable for their use in crop rotation system in M. hapla‐infested fields.  相似文献

Application of Microcoleus vaginatus, a blue-green alga (Cyanobacterium) at different levels along with Meloidogyne incognita, second stage larvae, in the rhizosphere of tomato plants; showed that the plant growth as well as yield of tomato were increased and gall formations and nematode populations decreased with the increase in inoculum level of M. vaginatus. An inoculum level of 20 ml endospores suspension of M. vaginatus (2.4 × 106 endospores per ml) per plant was optimum to reduce nematode attack with a population density of 1000 larvae per kg soil. Plant growth and yield of fruits were greatly suppressed and gall formations on roots, and nematode populations in soil were increased when M. incognita larvae added five days prior to M. vaginatus inoculation. On the other hand, when M. vaginatus inoculated ten days before nematode inoculation, suppressive effect of M. incognta on plants was reduced and their population density as well as gall formations were also decreased significantly. The efficacy of simultaneous inoculation of both nematode and M. vaginatus was lied in between two treatments discussed above.  相似文献

Summary Mexican lime seedlings were inoculated with 0, 500, 1000, 2000, 4000 and 8000 microconidia ofFusarium oxysporum f. sp.citri per gram of potting media. The percent infection and mean disease severity rating increased with increasing inoculum density of the pathogen. In potting mix infested withAspergillus ochraceus, Penicillium funiculosum andTrichoderma harzianum at 5000 conidia per gram 2 weeks prior to infestation withF. oxysporum f. sp.citri at 0, 1000, 4000, and 8000 microconidia per gram,A. ochraceus reduced,P. funiculosum increased andT. harzianum had no effect on disease severity or pathogen population. OnlyP. funiculosum showed antagonistic activityin vitro against the pathogen. Disease severity and pathogen propagule densitites were greater and pH was lower in potting media fertilized with NH4–N than in media fertilized with NO3–N.Portion of M. An experiment in a complete randomised design was conducted with the aim of investigating the impact of graded quantities (10, 20, 30, 40 and 50%) of fly ash on the morphometrics of root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita (2000 J2/pot) in Eclipta alba. The application of fly ash brought about deleterious effects on the development of the nematode which were reflected on dimensions of the mature females in all the fly ash concentrations over the inoculated control (IC). Significant reductions in length and width of body, neck, stylet and median bulbs of the mature females were recorded at higher (40 and 50%) fly ash levels, when compared with inoculated control (IC). The severity of root-knot disease was found to be decreased with increasing fly ash concentrations.  相似文献

The individual, concomitant and sequential inoculation of second stage juveniles (at 2000 J2/kg soil) of Meloidogyne incognita and Rhizoctonia solani (at 2 g mycelial mat/kg soil) showed significant reduction in plant growth parameters viz. plant length, fresh weight and dry weight as compared to control. The greatest reduction in plant growth parameters was recorded in the plants simultaneously inoculated with M. incognita and R. solani followed by sequential and individual inoculation. In sequential inoculation, plant inoculated with M. incognita 15 days prior to R. solani shows more reduction in comparison to plant inoculated with R. solani 15 days prior to M. incognita. Moreover, the multiplication of nematode and number of galls/root system were significantly reduced in concomitant and sequential inoculation as compared to individual inoculation, whereas the intensity of root-rot/root system caused by R. solani was increased in the presence of root-knot nematode M. incognita as compared to when R. solani was inoculated individually.  相似文献

Abstract

An experiment was conducted to study the effects of graded levels of choline addition (0, 500, 1000 and 4000 mg/kg diet) in laying hen diets prepared either with degummed or refined rape oil on the performance, sensory properties and trimethylamine (TMA) contents of the eggs. Furthermore, the diets containing no supplemented choline or 4000 mg choline/kg diet were tested with adequate or inadequate methionine supply (4.2 vs. 2.8 g methionine/kg diet). TMA metabolism and N-balance were measured for the latter diet types, but only with the diets containing refined rape oil. Therefore, a total of 12 and 4 diets were tested in the feeding (n = 60) and balance study (n = 9). Laying performance (23 – 75 weeks of age) was not significantly influenced by increasing choline additions with the exception of feed-to-egg mass ratio which decreased significantly linearly (p linear = 0.003). However, a significant interaction between choline addition and laying month was detected which was caused by a depression of performance of the unsupplemented control group occurring from the sixth laying month. The most obvious effect of an inadequate methionine supply was a temporary drop in performance between the third and sixth laying months. The mean TMA-concentration in pooled egg yolks [μg/g] increased with dietary choline concentration [mg/kg] in an exponentially related fashion (y = 1.14 + 4E?10 ? x2.71, r2 = 0.962) and suggested only a minor influence of total dietary choline on TMA content up to approximately 2000 mg choline/kg. Individual TMA-concentrations varied greatly from 0.4 – 1.5 μg/g, from 2.2 – 34 μg/g and from 18.4 – 75 μg/g for eggs with a normal, aberrant and heavily aberrant odour, respectively. It is concluded that a total choline concentration of at least approximately 1500 mg/kg is necessary to maintain a maximal laying performance. An inadequate methionine supply cannot be compensated by an increased addition of choline. Neither degummed nor refined rape oil influenced the TMA content of eggs.  相似文献

Contamination of surface soils with lead (Pb) is a global concern due to the release of hazardous materials containing the metal element. In order to explore ways to remediate contaminated soils with less impact on environment and costs, this study aimed at screening ornamental plant species exposed to Pb gradient in spiked soils for Pb phytoextraction. Twenty-one ornamental plant species that currently grow in Pakistan, were selected to assess their potential for Pb accumulation. Pot experiments were conducted to evaluate the accumulative properties of the different plant species in unspiked control (Pb = 0) and spiked soils with different levels of Pb at 500, 1000, 1500 and 2000 mg Pb kg?1 of soil. Biotranslocation factor (TF), Enrichment factor (EF) and Bioconcentration factor (CF) were calculated to assess the phytoremediation potential of tested plant species after seven weeks of exposure. Out of 21 plant species, Pelargonium hortorum and Mesembryanthemum criniflorum performed better and accumulated more than 1000 mg Pb kg?1 of shoot dry biomass when they were grown in 500, 1000 and 1500 mg Pb kg?1 contaminated soils. Both plants had no significant (P < 0.05) variation in the total dry biomass with increasing soil Pb concentration indicating a high tolerance to Pb. Considering the capacity of Pb accumulation, total dry biomass, TF, EF &; CF indices, Pelargonium hortorum and Mesembryanthemum criniflorum could be considered as Pb hyperaccumulators and could have the potential to be used in phytoremediation.  相似文献

The interaction between Pratylenchus coffeae and Pythium aphanidermatum and/or Rhizoctonia solani on chrysanthemum and the influence of farmyard manure (FYM) on it was studied under pot conditions. The disease caused by P. aphanidermatum or R. solani was significantly high at varying inoculum levels of Pratylenchus coffeae. The severiy further increased when nematode infected plants were inoculated with both the fungi together. Organic manuring also influenced the disease severity which was greatest in soils containing 200% organic manure. The nematode population significantly increased in presence of R. solani, decreased in presence of P. aphanidermatum and remained unaffected when both the fungi occurred together around the plants. The nematode population was greatly reduced in soils containing 200% organic manure.  相似文献

The antifungal activity of methanolic crude extracts of Acorus calamus, Tinospora cordifolia and Celestrus paniculatus was investigated against Alternaria solani, Curvularia lunata, Fusarium sp., Bipolaris sp. and Helminthosporium sp. at different concentrations (1000, 2000, 3000, 4000 and 5000 μg/ml). At 5000 μg/ml, crude extract of T. cordifolia is found to be highly effective against Helminthosporium sp. followed by A. calamus against A. solani. On the other hand, at 5000 μg/ml, C. paniculatus showed better activity against A. solani and Helminthosporium followed by A. calamus against A. solani at 4000 μg/ml. At 5000 μg/ml, all the three crude extracts showed least activity against fungus C. lunata and Fusarium sp. except A. calamus that showed better activity against C. lunata. The increase in the production of phenolic acid in the extract can be correlated with the induction of resistance in treated plants against phytopathogenic fungi. High-performance liquid chromatography analysis of the crude extract of medicinal plants showed six different phenolic acids (benzoic acid, cinnamic acid, caffeic acid, ferulic acid, gallic acid and tannic acid) present in varying amounts. The results of the study provide scientific basis for the use of the plant extract in the future development as antioxidant, antibacterial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory agent.  相似文献

Riboflavin (vitamin B2) is required for normal plant growth and development. Previous studies have shown that riboflavin application can enhance pathogen resistance in plants. Here, we investigated the role of riboflavin in increasing drought tolerance (10 % PEG6000 treatment) in plants. We treated 4 week-old tobacco plants with five different levels of riboflavin (0, 4, 20, 100 and 500 μM) for 5 days and examined their antioxidant responses and levels of drought tolerance. Compared with the controls, low and moderate levels of riboflavin treatment enhanced drought tolerance in the tobacco plants, whereas higher concentrations of riboflavin (500 μM) impaired drought tolerance. Further analysis revealed that plants treated with 500 μM riboflavin accumulated higher levels of ROS (O2 ? and H2O2) and lipid peroxide than the control plants or plants treated with low levels of riboflavin. Consistent with this observation, the activities of antioxidant enzymes such as superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), ascorbate peroxidase (APX) and glutathione reductase (GR) were higher in plants treated with low or moderate (4, 20 and 100 μM) levels of riboflavin compared with the control. We also found that chlorophyll degraded rapidly in control and 500 μM riboflavin-treated plants under drought stress conditions. In addition, the survival times of the riboflavin-treated plants were significantly modified by treatment with reduced glutathione, a well-known ROS scavenger, under drought stress conditions. Thus, riboflavin-mediated ROS production may determine the effects of riboflavin on drought tolerance in tobacco plants.  相似文献

The significant reduction in the plant growth was observed at an initial inoculum level of 2 immature females of Rotylenchulus reniformis/g soil and hence this inoculum level was considered as the minimum damaging threshold level for broccoli. The population of reniform nematode increased with the increasing levels of inoculum. Though, the maximum nematode population was recorded at the highest level of inoculum, the rate of reproduction of nematode was found to be highest at the lowest level of initial inoculum. Symptoms like chlorosis, stunted growth, shedding of leaves, early sprouting of inflorescence and sparsely developed roots were found during the experimental studies. Rotylenchulus reniformis required 30 days to complete the life cycle on broccoli.  相似文献

The effect of intraspecific competition on the development and reproduction of the slug parasitic nematode Phasmarhabditis hermaphrodita was studied in a series of laboratory experiments. Different inocula concentrations (1, 10, 25, 50, 100, 250, 500 and 1000) of P. hermaphrodita dauer juveniles (DJ) were applied to 0.02 g of homogenised slug Deroceras reticulatum on agar in multi-well plates and the development time, yield, lipid content, and body length of females and DJs were recorded. There was an inverse relationship between dose and recorded female length or lipid content. In newly emerged DJs the body length and lipid content were relatively invariable up to a dose of 250 DJs (ranging between 850 and 925 µm, 6.8 and 7.4, respectively), and decreased at higher doses (500 and 1000 DJs). The yield increased with increasing dosage to its optimum at a dose of 100 (200,000 DJs per 1 g of substrate) DJs and thereafter decreased. In the treatment with the highest dose (1000 DJs), only a minor portion of the inoculum developed to adult stage and completed their reproduction cycle while the rest remained at the larval stage. It might, therefore, be concluded that P. hermaphrodita tolerates intraspecific competition to a certain level at which crowding becomes too severe and a part of the inoculum do not develop and probably leave the site to avoid the fatal overcrowding. In conclusion, we show that intraspecific competition negatively affects the yield and quality of DJs of P. hermaphrodita, but it seems that this nematode can partly prevent overcrowding by avoiding occupied sites.  相似文献
