Two field experiments were conducted during 2004 and 2005 cropping seasons at Adet Agricultural Research Center, Ethiopia to assess yield losses caused by chocolate spot(Botrytis fabae) of faba bean in sole and mixed cropping systems using two cultivars. Cropping systems were sole faba bean (FB), faba bean mixed with field pea (FB: FP), barley (FB: BA) and maize (FB: MA). Mancozeb was sprayed at the rate of 2.5 kg a.i/ha at 7-, 14- and 21-day interval to generate different levels of chocolate spot disease in all the four cropping systems, and unsprayed control was also included. The treatments were arranged in a randomised complete block design (RCBD) with four replications. FB: MA mixed cropping significantly reduced disease severity and the area under disease progress curve (AUDPC) and increased faba bean grain yield. The highest faba bean grain yield among the three mixed croppings under different spray schedules was obtained from FB: MA mixed cropping in both 2004 and 2005 (2.56 and 3.74 t/ha, respectively) cropping seasons. There were highly significant yield differences (P < 0.05) among the spray intervals of mancozeb in both seasons. The highest grain yield (4.9 t/h) was recorded from the 7-day spray interval in 2005. The unsprayed faba bean had a lower grain yield (1.9 t/ha in 2004 and 2.3 t/ha in 2005) compared to the sprayed plots. The highest relative yield loss (67.5%) was calculated in 2005 from FB: FP mixed cropping in unsprayed plots. The relative yield losses in the unsprayed plots were in the range of 35.8–41.5% in 2004 and 52.6–67.5% in the 2005 cropping season. Severity and AUDPC were inversely correlated with faba bean grain yield. Significant differences were recorded in the 100-seed weight and days to maturity (DM). The unsprayed plots had shorter DM ranging from 126 to 128.5 day (except FB: MA mixed cropping) in 2004 and 122–123.9 days in 2005. In the sprayed plots DM was relatively longer than the unsprayed plots. A higher seed weight was recorded in the sole FB (56 g) and FB: MA (55 g) mixed cropping, and the lowest value of 100-seed weight was recorded from FB: FP (53 g) mixed cropping. The productivity of the mixed cropping evaluated by land equivalent ratio (LER) exceeded that of sole cropping. Faba bean grain yield was highly influenced by the severity of chocolate spot. The disease affects the DM, forcing early maturing of the plants.  相似文献

Abstract

Leaf blight caused by Alternaria helianthi (Hansf.) Tubaki & Nishihara, is the major disease of sunflower affecting the successful cultivation across India. Five individual fungicides and two combination fungicides were evaluated against this pathogen in laboratory and in field experiments. Among them, the combination of carbendazim + mancozeb completely (100%) inhibited the mycelial growth of A. helianthi, irrespective of the concentrations tested followed by carbendazim alone and metalaxyl + mancozeb under in vitro condition. In field conditions, the combination of carbendazim + mancozeb was found to be highly effective in reducing the leaf blight disease of sunflower in all the three experiments as compared to other fungicides and unsprayed control. The reduction of Alternaria leaf blight was also directly associated with an increase in seed yield. The economics of the fungicides spray has been worked out and the benefit cost ratio for the combination of carbendazim + mancozeb at 2.0 g/l was 7.1 as compared to unsprayed control. The overall analysis of the results revealed that the combination of carbendazim + mancozeb at 2.0 g/l can be used for the management of foliar diseases such as Alternaria leaf spot/blight in agricultural crops.  相似文献

Field trials were conducted to evaluate the efficacy of neem seed, garlic clove, onion bulb, ginger rhizome and pawpaw leaf extracts applied as foliar spray in controlling cercospora leaf spot of groundnut in the Sudan savanna of Nigeria during the 2002 and 2003 cropping seasons. Ridomil was used as a positive check while the control was left untreated. Three spray regimes (once, twice and thrice) were evaluated. A strip plot design with three replications was used in setting up the experiments. Ex-Dakar, a cercospora leaf spot susceptible Spanish Valencia groundnut variety, was used as planting material. All the plant extracts reduced the incidence and severity of cercospora leaf spot in both seasons compared to the untreated crops. However, neem seed and garlic clove extracts significantly reduced the incidence and severity of the disease compared to the other plant extracts. Ridomil was more effective in controlling the disease than the plant extracts. Three sprays with the plant extracts gave better control of the disease than one or two sprays in the season. The highest seed yield of 3115 kg/ha and 3311 kg/ha in 2002 and 2003, respectively, were obtained with neem seed extract treatment while the lowest seed yield of 2134 kg/ha and 2334 kg/ha in 2002 and 2003, respectively, were recorded from the untreated crops. Also the highest seed yield of 3124 kg/ha and 3418 kg/ha in 2002 and 2003, respectively were obtained following three sprays compared to 2523 kg/ha and 2641 kg/ha for one spray in 2002 and 2003, respectively and 2840 kg/ha and 3085 kg/ha for two sprays in 2002 and 2003, respectively. The highest haulm yield of 4121 kg/ha and 4089 kg/ha in 2002 and 2003, respectively were also obtained following treatment with neem seed extract. The lowest haulm yield of 2951 kg/ha and 3045 kg/ha in 2002 and 2003 respectively, were recorded from the control. Three sprays gave higher haulm yield (4265 kg/ha and 4279 kg/ha in 2002 and 2003, respectively) than one and two sprays in the season. Neem seed extract could therefore be used to control cercospora leaf spot and to improve groundnut production in the Sudan savanna of Nigeria.  相似文献

The relative impacts of early season thrips exclusion (cages) and thrips suppression (pesticides) on tomato spotted wilt (family Bunyaviridae, genus Tospovirus, TSW) Tospovirus infection in flue-cured tobacco, Nicotiana tobaccum L., were examined in field trials in 2001-2004. There were fewer TSW symptomatic plants when plants were covered by exclusion cages for 6 wk than when they were uncaged or caged for 2 or 4 wk after transplanting. Plant height, leaves per plant, and total leaf weight per plant were lower in TSW symptomatic plants compared with nonsymptomatic plants for the uncaged plus 2- and 4-wk caged duration treatments but not different when caged 6 wk. Weekly acephate (Orthene) foliar sprays for 2 or 4 wk after transplanting reduced thrips populations for up to 5 wk after transplanting, whereas the 6-wk sprays had lower thrips populations for up to 8 wk. TSW was lower in both the 4- and 6-wk acephate treatments than in the untreated. A tray drench application of imidacloprid (Admire) reduced thrips populations in early season plus lowered the percentage of TSW compared with no tray drench treatment. The tobacco thrips, Frankliniella fusca (Hinds), was the predominate thrips species on tobacco foliage, and 1.9-4.9% tested positive for nonstructural TSW protein. The imidacloprid tray drench treatment and 6-wk acephate foliar sprays had lower densities of the tobacco-adapted form of Myzus persicae (Sulzer). Suppressing early season thrips populations with foliar acephate or imidacloprid tray drench are management option that can effectively reduce the incidence of TSW in flue-cured tobacco plus suppress aphids.  相似文献

Eighteen fungicides were first evaluated for their effects on growth of Alternaria brassicae and for ascertaining their fungicidal and fungistatic natures in artificial cultures. The chemicals emerging fungicidal in action, were later evaluated for their efficacy as seed treatment and foliar application in the management of damping-off of seedlings and blight of rapeseed separately. Of 18 fungicides tested, six fungicides, viz., Dithane M-45, Dithane Z-78, Ziram, Difolatan-80, Blitox-50 and Benlate completely inhibited the growth of the pathogen and were fungicidal in action. Thiram and Brestan-60, which also caused total growth inhibition, were, however, fungistatic. Benlate (0.1 %) followed by Dithane M-45 was best seed-dressing fungicide for controlling damping-off of seedlings. Dithane M-45 (0.2%) followed by Dithane Z-78 as foliar spray was most effective for controlling the blight and increasing the yield in field trials.  相似文献

Bacterial Blight of Cotton   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
1. Bacterial blight of cotton is potentially one of the most damaging diseases of cotton.
2. Its symptoms and adverse effect on yield are described.
3. Control measures include: (i) cultural techniques of crop sanitation, and the destruction of crop residues, as well as close seasons and crop rotation; (ii) chemical seed treatments and foliar sprays; (iii) the breeding of resistant varieties.
4. Techniques are described for the breeding of resistant varieties, and sources of useful genetic plant resistance identified.
5. The complex nature of the interactions between host genetic resistance, variation in the pathogen and environment is emphasized.
6. Successful resistance-breeding programmes in Africa and the USA are reviewed, and attention is drawn to the pressing need for resistant varieties in India and Pakistan.
7. Continued success in the control of bacterial blight will require integrated programmes that include cultural methods, the use of chemicals (particularly as seed treatments) and the cultivation of resistant varieties with durable resistance.  相似文献

Abstract

The application of talc-formulation through seed, seed treatment plus foliar spray and foliar spray alone significantly reduced the leaf blight incidence both under greenhouse and field conditions. The groundnut plants treated with biocontrol agent and challenge inoculated with Alternaria alternata recorded significantly increased activity of Peroxidase isozyme (PO), Polyphenol oxidase isozymes (PPO) activity. Expression of PO2, PPO1 and PPO2 isoforms were found in all the plants treated with Pf1 while additional PO1, PPO3, PPO4 and PPO5 were observed in Pf1-treated plants followed by challenge inoculation with the pathogen.  相似文献

Disease survey data from 4475 randomly selected crops of wheat from England and Wales during 1985–2000 showed that yellow rust was most prevalent in 1988, 1989, 1990, 1998 and 1999. Disease severity on the upper two leaves was low as >95% crops had received foliar fungicides. Factors affecting the presence or absence (incidence) of yellow rust were investigated using random effects logistic regression (general linear mixed model). This enabled crop management (risk) variables for individual crops to be combined with meteorological variables measured at the county level. Two models are presented that analysed the effect of host genotype on incidence either solely through yellow rust resistance rating (Model 1) or by including both resistance rating (fixed effect) and cultivar (fitted as a random term) (Model 2). In both models, the percentage of crops with yellow rust decreased with cultivar disease resistance ratings ≥3, the occurrence of severe frosts (P < 0.05) of timing of fungicide sprays, previous cropping or summer weather. The use of risk variables associated with overwintering survival may help adjust fungicide inputs to seasonal risk.  相似文献

The etiology of foliar blight of roselle and its effect on yield in the tropical forest of southwestern Nigeria was investigated. More than 40% of leaves of roselle plants in fields under continuous cultivation (endemic plots) were blighted by Phyllosticta hibiscini. However, no infection was found on roselle plants in fields never previously planted with roselle. Over 20% leaf yield loss and over 34% edible leaf loss were due to leaf blight. The mean marketable and biological yield loss of calyces in 1999 and 2000 were 35% and 38% respectively, while seed yield loss was 30% and 32%.  相似文献

Foliar application may be used to supply boron (B) to a crop when B demands are higher than can be supplied via the soil. While B foliar sprays have been used to correct B deficiency in sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) in the field, no studies have determined the amount of B taken up by sunflower plant parts via foliar application. A study was conducted in which sunflower plants were grown at constant B concentration in nutrient solution with adequate B (46 micro m) or with limited B supply (0.24, 0.40 and 1.72 micro m) using Amberlite IRA-743 resin to control B supply. At the late vegetative stage of growth (25 and 35 d after transplanting), two foliar sprays were applied of soluble sodium tetraborate (20.8 % B) each at 0, 28, 65, 120 and 1200 mm (each spray equivalent to 0, 0.03, 0.07, 0.13 and 1.3 kg B ha-1 in 100 L water ha-1). The highest rate of B foliar fertilization resulted in leaf burn but had no other evident detrimental effect on plant growth. Under B-deficient conditions, B foliar application increased the vegetative and reproductive dry mass of plants. Foliar application of 28-1200 mm B increased the total dry mass of the most B-deficient plants by more than three-fold and that of plants grown initially with 1.72 micro m B in solution by 37-49 %. In this latter treatment, the dry mass of the capitulum was similar to that achieved under control conditions, but in no instance was total plant dry mass similar to that of the control. All B foliar spray rates increased the B concentration in various parts of the plant tops, including those that developed after the sprays were applied, but the B concentration in the roots was not increased by B foliar application. The B concentration in the capitulum of the plants sprayed at the highest rate was between 37 and 93 % of that in the control plants. This study showed that B foliar application was of benefit to B-deficient sunflower plants, increasing the B status of plant tops, including that of the capitulum which developed after the B sprays were applied.  相似文献

Fungicides mancozeb and carbendazim caused 100% reduction in mycelial growth of Alternaria brassicae over control in vitro while 1% (w/v) aqueous bulb extract of Allium sativum and leaf extract of Acacia nilotica caused significant reductions. In dual culture, GR isolate of Trichoderma viride performed the best among the test isolates of Trichoderma, causing 81%, 82% reduction in mycelial growth of A. brassicae over control. Performance of isolates SI‐2, P and SI‐1 of T. viride were at par (P < 0.01) with that of GR isolate. Spraying of A. brassicae at different ages of the mustard host plant identified 75 days after sowing (d.a.s.) as the most critical age of the mustard plant for development of Alternaria blight severity on the crop with 45 d.a.s. being the next most important one. Mancozeb was the best among all the treatments, resulting in the lowest disease severity on leaves of mustard at both Sewar and Ludhavai as also the lowest A‐value (area under disease progress curve). Performance of bulb extract of A. sativum in checking the disease severity on leaves and pods was at par (P < 0.05) with mancozeb. The GR isolate of T. viride was at par with mancozeb in checking blight severity on mustard leaves at Sewar while performance of the bioagent was significantly (P < 0.05) inferior to the chemical fungicide at Ludhavai. Performance of the bioagent isolate GR of T. viride in checking the disease severity on pods was at par (P < 0.05) with mancozeb at both Sewar and Ludhavai, the treatment recording the lowest A‐value on pods. While application of bulb extract of A. sativum resulted in highest seed yield at Sewar in 2001–2002, the bioagent isolate GR of T. viride did so at Ludhavai, both the treatments being at par (P < 0.05) with mancozeb and significantly higher than control. Application of bulb extract of A. sativum at 45 and 75 d.a.s. resulted in lowest blight severity on leaves and pods as also in highest seed yield among the different single and combination of treatments. Although disease severity in the treatment was at par (P < 0.05) with that in mancozeb, application of the plant extract at the two stages of crop growth resulted in significantly higher seed yield compared with the two applications of the chemical fungicide. However, application of the treatments singly only at 75 d.a.s., GR isolate of T. viride at 45 and 75 d.a.s., A. sativum 45 d.a.s. + T. viride 75 d.a.s., and T. viride 45 d.a.s. + A. sativum 75 d.a.s. resulted in seed yield at par (P < 0.05) with application of bulb extract of A. sativum at 45 and 75 d.a.s.  相似文献

Accurate prediction of Phytophthora infestans outbreak in a cropping season is crucial for the effective management of late blight on potato. The SIMBLIGHT1, SIMPHYT1 and modified SIMPHYT1 models were assessed for predicting late blight outbreaks relative to NOBLIGHT model by using climatic and crop data from field experiments at Presque Isle, ME, from 2004 to 2009. The dynamics of late blight infection pressures were computed by SIMPHYT3 model to assess the conduciveness of environmental conditions for late blight infection and potential for disease development. Infection pressure indicated conditions were moderately conducive for late blight development but varied across years. The SIMPHYT1 model recommended fungicide applications to commence on 11 July, 21 July, 8 July, 10 July, 7 July and 7 July for 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009, respectively. The modified SIMPHYT1 model (US-version) recommended similar fungicide application dates for the same years with the exception of 2007. Model simulations of disease outbreak differed from actual recorded observations in untreated plots by 24–65 days. Simulation of SIMBLIGHT1 based on high and low soil moisture conditions in the field resulted in vast differences in dates of first fungicide application. Validation of the models (differences in the number of days between recommendation of fungicide treatment and late blight outbreak) indicated a better goodness of fit for the models (intervals of 6–20 days from the start of fungicide application to first disease outbreak). The NOBLIGHT model was accurate in forecasting the timing of first fungicide applications for late blight control. Significant improvements in late blight predictions could result if these models were modified to account for external sources of inoculum, by combining weather-based forecasts with spore traps, disease detection methods or complimentary systems.  相似文献

High incidence of diseases associated with the use of seeds saved from previous harvests as desire of maintaining local varieties with special attributes is of increased concern in wheat industry worldwide. Prevalent of seed-borne fungi in farmer-saved seeds and seed dressing fungicides to prevent infection from seeds to seedlings was studied in Northern Tanzania. One hundred and thirty five untreated farmer-saved seed lots were collected randomly from farmers. Alternaria alternata, Bipolaris sorokiniana, Drechslera tritici, Fusarium graminearum, Fusarium moniliforme, Aspergillus flavus, Cladosporium sphaerospermum, Epicoccum purpurascens, Pyricularia oryzae and Penicillium corylophilum were fungi isolated in farmer-saved seeds. Mean seed infection was 29% causing average grain yield loss of 1.2 mt/ha?1. Seed dressing with Metalaxy plus (Methyl carboxaitide), Mancozeb (Manganase-zinc salt) and Baytan (Chlorophenoxy ethanol) increased seed germination by 14, 13 and 17%, respectively, and grain yield by 28, 20 and 18%, respectively. Farmer-saved seeds were heavily infected by fungi with low grain yield performance.  相似文献

Use of BTH to evaluate the disease severity and induction of systemic resistance in rice to bacterial blight caused by Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae is investigated. A new batch of 25 isolates of Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae was obtained from infected rice lead tissues collected from Pattambi, Kerala, south India. Their identification was confirmed by the plant inoculation test on to IR24 rice plants which produced characteristic bacterial blight lesions. Among the 25 of X.o. pv. oryzae, four of the isolates were also virulent to IRBB21 rice plants (a near isogenic line of IR24) which carry the Xa-21 gene for BB resistance. The results confirm that there are pathogen strains in India which can overcome Xa-21. Development of BB lesions developed in IR24 (BB susceptible) plants after they were treated with BTH applications either as seed treatment or as foliar spray at 0.1, 0.5, 0.1 and 2.0 mM concentrations showed that even at 2.0 mM concentrations, IR24 plants were still susceptible to the pathogen. There was very little or marginal effect of BTH on the induction of resistance to BB in IR24 rice plants. When the same concentrations of BTH were applied to IRBB21 (Xa-21) rice plants, they showed pronounced triggering of systemic resistance to BB pathogen even at 0.1 mM concentration of BTH applied either as seed treatment or as foliar spry. Disease severity index was reduced to 5 (against a score of 9 in untreated) and there was 85–86% reduction in BB incidence in plants that received 0.1 mM BTH. These results provide evidence that BTH-induced systemic resistance complements the R-gene resistance in IRBB21 plants but not in IR24 rice plants.  相似文献

Dynamics of the buried seeds and plant population of two dominant weeds, viz.,Emilia sonchifolia (Linn.) DC. andRichardsonia pilosa HBK were studied in the crop fields of Meghalaya, north-east India during radish and maize cropping and intervening fallow periods. The total buried seed population ofR. pilosa was always larger than that ofE. sonchifolia, but the germinable fraction was invariably greater in the latter. A major portion (39–41%) of the viable (germinable+dormant) seed population in both weeds was confined to the surface soil layer (0–5 cm). The viable seed population ofE. sonchifolia peaked during April, while that ofR. pilosa showed two peaks (during August and December). The survival pattern and half-lives of seedling cohorts showed, some differences in the two weed species, but both being summer annuals, their populations behaved in a similar manner by showing higher seedling recruitment (K) and survivorship (p) rates in the summer crop (maize) than in the winter crop (radish). However, the density of plants that could attain adulthood was significantly higher inE. sonchifolia thanR. pilosa which might have resulted in greater seed input of the former to the soil leading to its greater abundance in the crop fields.  相似文献

Abstract

Field trials were conducted to determine the efficacy of the integration of treatments based on a bioagent (Trichoderma viride), botanical (leaf extract and cake of Pongamia glabra), fungicide (carboxin) and Rhizobium sp. in various modes of applications for the management of web blight (Rhizoctonia solani Kühn) and their influence on grain yield of urdbean (Vigna mungo [L.] Hepper). Modes of applications were soil treatment, seed treatment and foliar spray. Among 54 integrations evaluated, soil application of P. glabra cake (200 kg ha?1), seed treatment with integration of T. viride (2 g kg?1 seed), carboxin (1 g kg?1 seed) and Rhizobium sp. (25 g kg?1 seed), and foliar spray of P. glabra leaf extract (10%) were found superior as they increased seed germination by 31.6%, yield by 36.0% and reduced disease intensity by 94.8%, and also significantly enhanced plant height, root length and number of root nodules of urdbean. The same integration without corboxin was also effective and could be used in organic production of urdbean. The integration of any two modes of application was found superior over any one alone.  相似文献

Iprodione applied to seed at 250 g a.i./kg controlled white rot in autumn-sown salad onions until July the following year, and reduced losses during the winter caused by Botrytis spp. At 25–150 g a.i./kg seed, iprodione controlled autumn and spring infections but it was less effective later in the summer. Treatment of autumn-sown onions at 50 g a.i./kg seed followed in March by a single stem base spray at 0.031 g a.i./m row (total rate c. 2.4 kg a.i./ha) gave complete control; seed treatment at 25 g a.i./kg followed by a stem base spray at 0.125 g a.i./m row (c. 4.5 kg a.i./ha) was equally effective. Four stem base sprays of iprodione at 0.075 g a.i./m row/spray (9 kg a.i./ha) applied in spring to plants raised from untreated seed, controlled spring and summer infections but yields were low because of losses caused by infection in the previous autumn. A single stem base spray of iprodione at 0.125 g a.i./m row applied in spring to plants raised from thiophanate-methyl treated seed at 125 g a.i./kg gave complete control and high yields.  相似文献

Spur blight (Didymella applanata), cane botrytis (Botrytis cinerea) and cane blight (Leptosphaeria coniothyrium) were studied in two consecutive seasons in unsprayed raspberries and in plots sprayed with thiophanate-methyl in the first season alone, (a) twice pre-harvest, (b) twice post-harvest, or (c) twice pre- plus twice post-harvest. Pre-harvest, but not post-harvest sprays, gave moderate control of both spur blight and cane botrytis; both diseases occurred mainly on the lower halves of canes, the latter being the less common. Cane blight occurred at the base of canes where they were wounded by old cane stubs. In the first year it was severe; 37% of canes died before harvest in the unsprayed plots. The three spray programmes all decreased cane death due to cane blight and they all increased yield by c. 45% even in those plots sprayed post-harvest where spur blight was severe and not controlled. Clearly this last disease, despite its high incidence, had no effect on potential yield in this experiment. In the second year cane blight was common but less severe and the incidence of its lesions was reduced similarly by all programmes, but only 4% of canes died in control plots. Analysis of the potential yield and the sizes of lesions caused by L. coniothyrium in canes inoculated at fortnightly intervals in the previous year showed that potential yield loss occurred only when lesions girdled canes. A bimodal distribution in the lesion sizes, measured by length or girdling, indicated some endogenous control of lesion development which might explain the marked differences in the effect of cane blight on potential yield in two seasons.  相似文献

This study evaluates the effects of different row arrangements on incidence and severity of Cercospora leaf spot (CLS) and Alternaria leaf blight (ALB) diseases and seed health of sesame intercropped with maize. Row arrangements were: sesame intercropped with maize in alternate pair of rows (2:2), two rows of sesame intercropped with one row of maize (2:1), sesame intercropped with maize in single alternate rows (1:1) with sole sesame as control. Intercropping maize with sesame reduced the incidence and severity of diseases. Sesame intercropped with maize in a (1:1) ration recorded a significantly lower number of infected leaves by CLS and ALB incidence than other row arrangements. ALB lesion number was between 17 and 20 in the (1:1) arrangement relative to 65–104 and 28–43 in the sole crop and other row arrangements, respectively. ALB lesion size was also reduced in the (1:1) than other row arrangements. Fungal infection of harvested sesame seeds was significantly reduced in the intercrop relative to the sole crop. CLS incidence was significant and negatively correlated with seed weight while defoliation was significant and positively correlated with ALB or CLS incidence. Rainfall was significant and positively correlated with CLS or ALB incidence while intercropping induced microclimatic effects that influenced disease incidence. Grain yield, weight of 1000-seed, number of capsules/plant and weight of seed/plant were significantly higher in the (1:1) row arrangement than the sole crop or other row arrangements. The study demonstrates that intercropping sesame with maize in a single alternate row (1:1) arrangement can be used to reduce foliar diseases of sesame.  相似文献

A Soil bacterium, Bacillus subtilis, isolated from the rhizosphere of rice, showed high biocontrol activity against blast, sheath blight and bacterial blight. In the present study, four B. subtilis strains isolated from paddy soil were studied under laboratory, greenhouse and field conditions. Among the four strains assayed, UASP17 gave maximum inhibition of paddy pathogens and was validated under field trials. B. subtilis (UASP17) under different doses and methods of applications was evaluated for two seasons at Agriculture Research Station (UAS, Raichur). UASP17 was effective in reducing the severity of blast (9.00% and 15.57%), bacterial leaf blight (BLB) (5.00% and 6.11%) and sheath blight (11.93% and 4.17%) diseases for two seasons. The application of bioagent also increased the paddy grain yield (61.00 and 64.30?Q/ha) in the two seasons, respectively. Taken together, these results indicate that B. subtilis UASP17 as seedling dip for 30?min (10?mL/L of water) prior to transplanting and 2.50?L/ha foliar application was effective in managing the diseases of paddy.  相似文献
