In order to study the responses of winter wheat cultivars released in different years to short-term high O3 exposure, an old cultivar (‘Nongda 311’, released in 1960s) and a modern one (‘Yannong 19’, released in 1990s) were treated with an O3 exposure (145 ± 12 mm3 m−3, 4 h d−1 for 3 d) shortly after anthesis stage (> 50 % main stems blossomed). During the O3 exposure, light-saturated photosynthetic rate (P N) and stomatal conductance (g s) of both cultivars decreased considerably. Elevated O3 did not decrease dark-adapted maximum photochemical efficiency, but induced significant reduction in actual photochemical efficiency and thereby considerably increase in non-photochemical quenching. P N, g s of the modern cultivar ‘Yannong 19’ decreased more than the older one ‘Nongda 311’, indicating the former exhibited higher sensitivity to O3 than the latter. After O3 exposure, P N, g s and chlorophyll (Chl) content in flag leaf decreased more quickly than control, indicating induction of faster premature leaf senescence. As a result, the short-term O3 exposure caused substantial yield loss, with larger reduction in ‘Yannong 19’ (−19.2 %) than in ‘Nongda 311’ (−8.4 %). Our results indicated that high O3 exposure at grain filling stage would have greater negative impacts on the high yielding modern cultivar relative to the old one with lower yield.  相似文献

Plants of an Egyptian cultivar of wheat (Triticum aestivum L. cv. Giza 63) were exposed in open-top chambers (OTCs) for 8 h d–1 for up to 75 d to a factorial combination of two levels of salinity (0 and 50 mM NaCl) and two levels of O3 (filtered air and 50 mm3 m–3). Exposure to 50 mm3 m–3 O3 significantly decreased stomatal conductance (g s), net photosynthetic rate (P N), and chlorophyll (Chl) content by 20, 25, and 21 %, respectively. This reduction resulted in a change in assimilate allocation in favour of shoot growth leading to a decrease in root to shoot ratio and eventually to a decrease in relative growth rate (RGR) of both root and shoot. There was a very large reduction in yield parameters, especially in the number of ears/plant and 1 000-grain mass. Soil salinity significantly reduced P N and g s by 17 and 15 %, respectively, while Chl content was increased by 17 %. Root growth was decreased leading to an increase in root/shoot ratio. Yield parameters were decreased due to salt stress. There was antagonistic interaction between salinity (50 mM NaCl) and O3 (50 mm3 m–3) showing that salinity effectively protects against the adverse effects of O3 by increasing g s during O3 fumigation.  相似文献

We evaluated the growth and development of the medicinal species Pothomorphe umbellata (L.) Miq. under different shade levels (full sun and 30, 50, and 70 % shade, marked as I100, I70, I50, and I30, respectively) and their effects on gas exchange and activities of antioxidant enzymes. Photosynthetically active radiation varied from 1 254 μmol m−2 s−1 at I100 to 285 μmol m−2 s−1 at I30. Stomatal conductance, net photosynthetic rate, and relative chlorophyll (Chl) content were maximal in I70 plants. Plants grown under I100 produced leaves with lower Chl content and signs of chlorosis and necrosis. These symptoms indicated Chl degradation induced by the generation of reactive oxygen species. Stress related antioxidant enzyme activities (Mn-SOD, Fe-SOD, and Cu/Zn-SOD) were highest in I100 plants, whereas catalase activity was the lowest. Hence P. umbellata is a shade species (sciophyte), a feature that should be considered in reforestation programs or in field plantings for production of medicinal constituents.  相似文献

The adaptation ofCamellia rusticana, an evergreen broad-leaved shrub found in areas of heavy snowfall in Japan, to heavy snowfall environments, and the mechanisms by which it is damaged in winter above the snow, were investigated. The stomatal response and photosynthetic characteristics ofC. rusticana were compared to those ofCamellia japonica found in areas of light snowfall. In field conditions, the mean net photosynthesis ofC. rusticana at photon flux density (PFD) over 200 μmol m−2s−1 (Pn(>200). was 50% larger than that ofC. japonica, but in both light saturated and CO2 saturated conditions, the O2 evolution rate (Pc) ofC. rusticana was not different from that ofC. japonica. Mean leaf conductance at PFD over 200 μmol m−2s−1 (gl(>200)) was about 100% larger than that ofC. japonica in the field. The Pn(>200)) was 50% ratio ofC. rusticana was 37% higher than that ofC. japonica which suggests thatC. rusticana's larger Pn(>200) can be explained by its larger gl(>200). WhenC. rusticana trees wintering underneath the snow were projected above it, the leaves of these plants showed serious drought within five days in non-freezing conditions. Their Pc and the maximum stomatal conductance decreased by half and did not recover. The leaves ofC. rusticana showed larger gl(>200) and a less sensitive stomatal response to the decrease of leaf water potential than that ofC. japonica. The stomata characteristics ofC. rusticana caused larger net photosynthesis than that ofC. japonica during the no snow period, and caused the need for snow cover in winter as protector from winter drought.  相似文献

An open-top chamber experiment was carried out from April through October 2006 to examine the effects of elevated (80 nmol mol−1) atmospheric O3 on Ginkgo biloba (4-years-old) in urban area. The air with ambient O3 (AA, ≈ 45 nmol mol−1) was used as control. The leaf mass and size, leaf area index, net photosynthetic rate (P N), apparent quantum yield, transpiration rate, and stomatal conductance were decreased by elevated O3 (EO) exposure. Visible foliar injury, which is light-brown flecks, was observed in the EO OTCs after 90 d of exposure. Carboxylation efficiency (ΦCO2) and photorespiration and dark respiration rates were enhanced by EO exposure in the first half of the season, but all of them turned to be lower than those of the AA control at the end of experiment. Stomata limitation of photosynthesis was significantly higher than control in the whole season (p<0.05). Chlorophyll (Chl) content was lower in EO variant than in the control and the difference became more and more apparent through the season. Hence the decrease in P N of G. biloba exposed to EO was the result of both stomatal and non-stomatal limitations. In the early season, the inhibition of photosynthesis was mainly caused by the stomatal limitation, and the earliest response was photoprotective down-regulation of photosynthesis but not photodamage. However, at the end of the season, the non-stomatal limiting factors such as decrease in Chl content, decrease in ΦCO2, and anti-oxidative enzyme activity became more important.  相似文献

Response to irradiance of leaf net photosynthetic rates (P N) of four carrot cultivars: Cascade, Caro Choice (CC), Oranza, and Red Core Chantenay (RCC) were examined in a controlled environment. Gas exchange measurements were conducted at photosynthetic active radiation (PAR) from 100 to 1 000 μmol m−2 s−1 at 20 °C and 350 μmol (CO2) mol−1(air). The values of P N were fitted to a rectangular hyperbolic nonlinear regression model. P N for all cultivars increased similarly with increasing PAR but Cascade and Oranza generally had higher P N than CC. None of the cultivars reached saturation at 1 000 μmol m−2 s−1. The predicted P N at saturation (P Nmax) for Cascade, CC, Oranza, and RCC were 19.78, 16.40, 19.79, and 18.11 μmol (CO2) m−2 s−1, respectively. The compensation irradiance (I c) occurred at 54 μmol m−2 s−1 for Cascade, 36 μmol m−2 s−1 for CC, 45 μmol m−2 s−1 for Oranza, and 25 μmol m−2 s−1 for RCC. The quantum yield among the cultivars ranged between 0.057–0.033 mol(CO2) mol−1(PAR) and did not differ. Dark respiration varied from 2.66 μmol m−2 s−1 for Cascade to 0.85 μmol m−2 s−1 for RCC. As P N increased with PAR, intercellular CO2 decreased in a non-linear manner. Increasing PAR increased stomatal conductance and transpiration rate to a peak between 600 and 800 μmol m−2 s−1 followed by a steep decline resulting in sharp increases in water use efficiency. The morphological, anatomical and physiological variations of leaf traits were analysed during Quercus ilex L. leaf expansion. The leaf water content (LWC), leaf area relative growth rate (RGRl) and leaf dry mass relative growth rate (RGRm) were the highest (76±2 %, 0.413 cm2 cm−2 d−1, 0.709 mg mg−1 d−1, respectively) at the beginning of the leaf expansion process (7 days after bud break). Leaf expansion lasted 84±2 days when air temperature ranged from 13.3±0.8 to 27.6±0.9 °C. The net photosynthetic rate (P N), stomatal conductance (g s), and chlorophyll content per fresh mass (Chl) increased during leaf expansion, having the highest values [12.62±1.64 μmol (CO2) m−2 s−1, 0.090 mol (H2O) m−2 s−1, and 1.03±0.08 mg g−1, respectively] 56 days after bud break. Chl was directly correlated with leaf dry mass (DM) and P N. The thickness of palisade parenchyma contributed to the total leaf thickness (263.1±1.5 μm) by 47 %, spongy layer thickness 38 %, adaxial epidermis and cuticle thickness 9 %, and abaxial epidermis and cuticle thickness 6 %. Variation in leaf size during leaf expansion might be attributed to a combination of cells density and length, and it is confirmed by the significant (p<0.001) correlations among these traits. Q. ilex leaves reached 90 % of their definitive structure before the most severe drought period (beginning of June — end of August). The high leaf mass area (LMA, 15.1±0.6 mg cm−2) at full leaf expansion was indicative of compact leaves (2028±100 cells mm−2). Air temperature increasing might shorten the favourable period for leaf expansion, thus changing the final amount of biomass per unit leaf area of Q. ilex.  相似文献

The response of barley (Hordeum vulgare L. cv. Akcent) to various photosynthetic photon flux densities (PPFDs) and elevated [CO2] [700 μmol (CO2) mol−1; EC] was studied by gas exchange, chlorophyll (Chl) a fluorescence, and pigment analysis. In comparison with barley grown under ambient [CO2] [350 μmol (CO2) mol−1; AC] the EC acclimation resulted in a decrease in photosynthetic capacity, reduced stomatal conductance, and decreased total Chl content. The extent of acclimation depression of photosynthesis, the most pronounced for the plants grown at 730 μmol m−2 s−1 (PPFD730), may be related to the degree of sink-limitation. The increased non-radiative dissipation of absorbed photon energy for all EC plants corresponded to the higher de-epoxidation state of xanthophylls only for PPFD730 barley. Further, a pronounced decrease in photosystem 2 (PS2) photochemical efficiency (given as FV/FM) for EC plants grown at 730 and 1 200 μmol m−2 s−1 in comparison with AC barley was related to the reduced epoxidation of antheraxanthin and zeaxanthin back to violaxanthin in darkness. Thus the EC conditions sensitise the photosynthetic apparatus of high-irradiance acclimated barley plants (particularly PPFD730) to the photoinactivation of PS2. Due to anthropogenic influences, solar UV-B irradiance at the earth’s surface is increasing. To determine the effects of enhanced UV-B radiation on photosynthetic characteristics of Prunus dulcis, two-year-old seedlings of the species were submitted to four levels of UV-B stress, namely 0 (UV-Bc), 4.42 (UV-B1), 7.32 (UV-B2) and 9.36 (UV-B3) kJ m−2 d−1. Effects of UV-B stress on a range of chlorophyll (Chl) fluorescence parameters (FPs), Chl contents and photosynthetic gas-exchange parameters were investigated. UV-B stress promoted an increase in minimal fluorescence of dark-adapted state (F0) and F0/Fm, and a decrease in variable fluorescence (Fv, Fv/Fm, Fv/F0 and F0/Fm) due to its adverse effects on photosystem II (PSII) activity. No significant change was observed for maximal fluorescence of dark-adapted state (Fm). Enhanced UV-B radiation caused a significant inhibition of net photosynthetic rate (P N) at UV-B2 and UV-B3 levels and this was accompanied by a reduction in stomatal conductance (g s) and transpiration rate (E). The contents of Chl a, b, and total Chl content (a+b) were also significantly reduced at increased UV-B stress. In general, adverse UV-B effects became significant at the highest tested radiation dose 9.36 kJ m−2 d−1. The most sensitive indicators for UV-B stress were Fv/F0, Chl a content and P N. Significant P<0.05 alteration in these parameters was found indicating the drastic effect of UV-B radiation on P. dulcis.  相似文献

The effect of ethylenediurea (EDU) was tested using the chlorophyll (Chl) a fluorescence transient analysis, performed with JIP-test, to assess ambient ozone (O3) effects on photosynthesis of adult trees under natural conditions. Twelve adult European ash (Fraxinus excelsior L.) trees, known to be sensitive or tolerant to O3, determined by presence symptomatic (S) or absence asymptomatic (AS) trees of foliar symptoms in previous years, were treated either with distilled water containing 450 g m−3 EDU or with distilled water. Once a month across the growing season [the accumulated exposure over a threshold of 40 nmol(O3) mol−1 was 32.49 μmol mol−1 h−1], Chl a fluorescence transients were measured in vivo on dark-adapted leaves of 1-year-old labeled shoots, from the lower crown part. Twenty-five parameters were calculated. The maximum quantum yield of primary photochemistry (ϕPo or Fv/Fm) did not differentiate between S-and AS-trees, while increased Chl content and de-excitation rates suggested compensation of O3 injury in S-trees. Seasonal reductions in absorbing fluxes and increase in heat and fluorescence dissipation processes was due to leaf ageing and drought, the latter suggesting water deficit influenced Chl a fluorescence stronger than ambient O3 exposure. AS-trees showed elevated probability of connectivity among photosystem 2 units, a mechanism to stimulate energy dissipation and reduce photo-oxidative injury. EDU prevented the inactivation of reaction centers. This slight effect does not warrant EDU as a tool to assess O3 effects on photosynthesis, while the JIP-test is suggested for a quantitative assessment in adult trees.  相似文献

In carob tree (Ceratonia siliqua) radiant energy saturated net photosynthetic rate (P N) during summer was about 10 % of the spring values. This was accompanied by a reduction in stomatal conductance (g s), which only partially explains the strong reduction in P N. Photosynthetic capacity (P max) and quantum yield (Φ), both measured under saturating CO2, had the maximum in spring (about 34 μmol m−2 s−1 and 0.08 mol mol−1, respectively) and both decreased in late summer to about 55 % of their spring values. Despite strong decreases in Φ, photoinhibition of photosystem 2 (PS2) was negligible or easily reversible in carob leaves subjected to summer drought, since Fv/Fm, measured in the morning, did not show appreciable changes. The recovery of affected parameters was very rapid after the first rains in late October. The chlorophyll (Chl) alb ratio in the end of the summer was 2.6, a value significantly lower than 3.6 obtained in the spring, suggesting that Chl a was preferentially reduced. Near-isogenic lines of maize varying in their genes for flavonoid biosynthesis were utilized to examine the effects of foliar flavonoids and nutrient deficiency on maximum net photosynthetic rate (P N) and chlorophyll (Chl) fluorescence (Fv/Fm) in response to ultraviolet-B (UV-B) radiation. Plants with deficient (30 to 70 % lower N, K, Mn, Fe, and Zn) and sufficient nutrients were exposed to four irradiation regimes: (1) no UV-B with solar photosynthetically active radiation (PAR), (2) two day shift to ambient artificial UV-B, 8.2–9.5 kJ m−2 d−1 (21–25 mmol m−2 d−1); (3) continuous ambient artificial UV-B; (4) continuous solar UV-B in Hawaii 12–18 kJ m−2 d−1 (32–47 mmol m−2 d−1). The natural ratio of UVB: PAR (0.25–0.40) was maintained in the UV-B treatments. In the adequately fertilized plants, lines b and lc had higher contents of flavonoids and anthocyanins than did lines hi27 and dta. UV-B induced the accumulation of foliar flavonoids in lines hi27 and b, but not in the low flavonoid line dta or in the high flavonoid line lc. In plants grown on deficient relative to adequate nutrients, flavonoid and anthocyanin contents decreased by 30–40 and 40–50 %, respectively, and Chl a and Chl b contents decreased by 30 and 70 %, respectively. The UV-B treatments did not significantly affect P N and Fv/Fm in plants grown on sufficient nutrients, except in the low flavonoid lines dta and hi27 in which P N and Fv/Fm decreased by ∼15 %. P N, Fv/Fm, and stomatal conductance decreased markedly (20–30 %) in all lines exposed to UV-B when grown on low nutrients. The decrease in Fv/Fm was 10 % less in higher flavonoid lines b and lc. The photosynthetic apparatus of maize readily tolerated ambient UV-B in the tropics when plants were adequately fertilized. In contrast, ambient UV-B combined with nutrient deficiency significantly reduced photosynthesis in this C4 plant. Nutrient deficiency increased the susceptibility of maize to UV-B-induced photoinhibition in part by decreasing the contents of photoprotective compounds.  相似文献

The differences in pigment levels, photosynthetic activity and the chlorophyll fluorescence decrease ratio R Fd (as indicator of photosynthetic rates) of green sun and shade leaves of three broadleaf trees (Platanus acerifolia Willd., Populus alba L., Tilia cordata Mill.) were compared. Sun leaves were characterized by higher levels of total chlorophylls a + b and total carotenoids x + c as well as higher values for the weight ratio chlorophyll (Chl) a/b (sun leaves 3.23–3.45; shade leaves: 2.74–2.81), and lower values for the ratio chlorophylls to carotenoids (a + b)/(x + c) (with 4.44–4.70 in sun leaves and 5.04–5.72 in shade leaves). Sun leaves exhibited higher photosynthetic rates P N on a leaf area basis (mean of 9.1–10.1 μmol CO2 m−2 s−1) and Chl basis, which correlated well with the higher values of stomatal conductance G s (range 105–180 mmol m−2 s−1), as compared to shade leaves (G s range 25–77 mmol m−2 s−1; P N: 3.2–3.7 μmol CO2 m−2 s−1). The higher photosynthetic rates could also be detected via imaging the Chl fluorescence decrease ratio R Fd, which possessed higher values in sun leaves (2.8–3.0) as compared to shade leaves (1.4–1.8). In addition, via R Fd images it was shown that the photosynthetic activity of the leaves of all trees exhibits a large heterogeneity across the leaf area, and in general to a higher extent in sun leaves than in shade leaves.  相似文献

Six months old in vitro-grown Anoectochilus formosanus plantlets were transferred to ex-vitro acclimation under low irradiance, LI [60 μmol(photon) m−2 s−1], intermediate irradiance, II [180 μmol(photon) m−2 s−1], and high irradiance, HI [300 μmol(photon) m−2 s−1] for 30 d. Imposition of II led to a significant increase of chlorophyll (Chl) b content, rates of net photosynthesis (P N) and transpiration (E), stomatal conductance (g s), electron transfer rate (ETR), quantum yield of electron transport from water through photosystem 2 (ΦPS2), and activity of ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/ oxygenase (RuBPCO, EC 4.1.1.39). This indicates that Anoectochilus was better acclimated at II compared to LI treatment. On the other hand, HI acclimation led to a significant reduction of Chl a and b, P N, E, g s, photochemical quenching, dark-adapted quantum efficiency of open PS2 centres (Fv/Fm), probability of an absorbed photon reaching an open PS2 reaction centre (Fv′/Fm′), ETR, ΦPS2, and energy efficiency of CO2 fixation (ΦCO2PS2). This indicates that HI treatment considerably exceeded the photo-protective capacity and Anoectochilus suffered HI induced damage to the photosynthetic apparatus. Imposition of HI significantly increased the contents of antheraxanthin and zeaxanthin (ZEA), non-photochemical quenching, and conversion of violaxanthin to ZEA. Thus Anoectochilus modifies its system to dissipate excess excitation energy and to protect the photosynthetic machinery.  相似文献

Photosynthetic parameters, growth, and pigment contents were determined during expansion of the fourth leaf of in vitro photoautotrophically cultured Nicotiana tabacum L. plants at three irradiances [photosynthetically active radiation (400–700 nm): low, LI 60 μmol m−2 s−1; middle, MI 180 μmol m−2 s−1; and high, HI 270 μmol m−2 s−1]. During leaf expansion, several symptoms usually accompanying leaf senescence appeared very early in HI and then in MI plants. Symptoms of senescence in developing leaves were: decreasing chlorophyll (Chl) a+b content and Chl a/b ratio, decreasing both maximum (FV/FM) and actual (ΦPS2) photochemical efficiency of photosystem 2, and increasing non-photochemical quenching. Nevertheless, net photosynthetic oxygen evolution rate (P N) did not decrease consistently with decrease in Chl content, but exhibited a typical ontogenetic course with gradual increase. P N reached its maximum before full leaf expansion and then tended to decline. Thus excess irradiance during in vitro cultivation did not cause early start of leaf senescence, but impaired photosynthetic performance and Chl content in leaves and changed their typical ontogenetic course.  相似文献

Little is known about the response of trees to elevated ozone (O3) in the subtropical region of China, where ambient O3 concentrations are high enough to damage plants. In this study, pigment content, gas exchange and chlorophyll (Chl) a fluorescence in leaves of Liriodendron chinense (Hemsl.) Sarg seedlings, a deciduous broadleaf tree species native in subtropical regions, were investigated at 15, 40, and 58 days after O3 fumigation (DAF) at a concentration of 150 mm3 m−3 (E-O3). At the end of experiment, seedlings were harvested for biomass measurement. E-O3 caused visible injuries on the mature leaves e.g. necrotic patches and accelerated early defoliation. Relative to the charcoal-filtered air (CF) treatment, E-O3 significantly decreased shoot and root biomass, pigment content, light-saturated net photosynthesis (P Nsat), stomatal conductance (g s), maximum rate of carboxylation (Vcmax), photochemical quenching coefficient (qp) and effective quantum yield of PSII photochemistry (ΦPSII), and also caused a slight reduction in relative increase of basal diameter. Therefore, L. chinense can be assumed to be an O3-sensitive tree species, which will be threatened by increasing ambient O3 concentrations in China.  相似文献

A coupled model of stomatal conductance and photosynthesis for winter wheat   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5
Z.-P. Ye  Q. Yu 《Photosynthetica》2008,46(4):637-640
The model couples stomatal conductance (g s) and net photosynthetic rate (P N) describing not only part of the curve up to and including saturation irradiance (I max), but also the range above the saturation irradiance. Maximum stomatal conductance (g smax) and I max can be calculated by the coupled model. For winter wheat (Triticum aestivum) the fitted results showed that maximum P N (P max) at 600 μmol mol−1 was more than at 350 μmol mol−1 under the same leaf temperature, which can not be explained by the stomatal closure at high CO2 concentration because g smax at 600 μmol mol−1 was less than at 350 μmol mol−1. The irradiance-response curves for winter wheat had similar tendency, e.g. at 25 °C and 350 μmol mol−1 both P N and g s almost synchronously reached the maximum values at about 1 600 μmol m−2 s−1. At 25 °C and 600 μmol mol−1 the I max corresponding to P max and g smax was 2 080 and 1 575 μmol m−2 s−1, respectively.  相似文献

Rates of photosynthesis vary with foliage age and typically decline from full-leaf expansion until senescence occurs. This age-related decline in photosynthesis is especially important in species that retain foliage for several years, yet it is not known whether the internal conductance to CO2 movement (g i) plays any role. More generally, g i has been measured in only a few conifers and has never been measured in leaves or needles older than 1 year. The effect of ageing on g i was investigated in Pinus pinaster, a species that retains needle for 4 or more years. Measurements were made in autumn when trees were not water limited and after leaf expansion was complete. Rates of net photosynthesis decreased with needle age, from 8 μmol m−2 s−1 in fully expanded current-year needles to 4.4 μmol m−2 s−1 in 3-year-old needles. The relative limitation due to internal conductance (0.24–0.35 out of 1) was in all cases larger than that due to stomatal conductance (0.13–0.19 out of 1). Internal conductance and stomatal conductance approximately scaled with rates of photosynthesis. Hence, there was no difference among year-classes in the relative limitations posed by internal and stomatal conductance or evidence that they cause the age-related decline in photosynthesis. There was little evidence that the age-related decline in photosynthesis was due to decreases in contents of N or Rubisco. The decrease in rates of photosynthesis from current-year to older needles was instead related to a twofold decrease in rates of photosynthesis per unit nitrogen and V cmax/Rubisco (i.e., in vivo specific activity).  相似文献

Diurnal changes of photosynthesis in the leaves of grapevine (Vitis vinifera × V. labrusca) cultivars Campbell Early and Kyoho grown in the field were compared with respect to gas exchanges and actual quantum yield of photosystem 2 (ΦPS2) in late May. Net photosynthetic rate (PN) of the two cultivars rapidly increased in the morning, saturated at photosynthetic photon flux density (PPFD) from 1200 to 1500 μmol m−2 s−1 between 10:00 and 12:00 and slowly decreased after midday. Maximum PN was 13.7 and 12.5 μmol m−2 s−1 in Campbell Early and Kyoho, respectively. The stomatal conductance (gs) and transpiration rate changed in parallel with PN, indicating that PN was greatly affected by gs. However, the decrease in PN after midday under saturating PPFD was also associated with the observed depression of ΦPS2 at high PPFD. The substantial increase in the leaf to air vapour pressure deficit after midday might also contribute to decline of gs and PN.  相似文献

Independent short-term effects of photosynthetic photon flux density (PPFD) of 50–400 μmol m−2 s−1, external CO2 concentration (C a) of 85–850 cm3 m−3, and vapor pressure deficit (VPD) of 0.9–2.2 kPa on net photosynthetic rate (P N), stomatal conductance (g s), leaf internal CO2 concentration (C i), and transpiration rates (E) were investigated in three cacao genotypes. In all these genotypes, increasing PPFD from 50 to 400 μmol m−2 s−1 increased P N by about 50 %, but further increases in PPFD up to 1 500 μmol m−2 s−1 had no effect on P N. Increasing C a significantly increased P N and C i while g s and E decreased more strongly than in most trees that have been studied. In all genotypes, increasing VPD reduced P N, but the slight decrease in g s and the slight increase in C i with increasing VPD were non-significant. Increasing VPD significantly increased E and this may have caused the reduction in P N. The unusually small response of g s to VPD could limit the ability of cacao to grow where VPD is high. There were no significant differences in gas exchange characteristics (g s, C i, E) among the three cacao genotypes under any measurement conditions.  相似文献
