The demographic history of human populations in North Africa has been characterized by complex processes of admixture and isolation that have modeled its current gene pool. Diverse genetic ancestral components with different origins (autochthonous, European, Middle Eastern, and sub-Saharan) and genetic heterogeneity in the region have been described. In this complex genetic landscape, Algeria, the largest country in Africa, has been poorly covered, with most of the studies using a single Algerian sample. In order to evaluate the genetic heterogeneity of Algeria, Y-chromosome, mtDNA and autosomal genome-wide makers have been analyzed in several Berber- and Arab-speaking groups. Our results show that the genetic heterogeneity found in Algeria is not correlated with geography or linguistics, challenging the idea of Berber groups being genetically isolated and Arab groups open to gene flow. In addition, we have found that external sources of gene flow into North Africa have been carried more often by females than males, while the North African autochthonous component is more frequent in paternally transmitted genome regions. Our results highlight the different demographic history revealed by different markers and urge to be cautious when deriving general conclusions from partial genomic information or from single samples as representatives of the total population of a region.  相似文献

The phytochemical investigation of the methylene chloride/methanol extract of the aerial parts of Artemisia herba-alba afforded two new natural sesquiterpene lactones 1β,9β-diacetoxyeudesm-3-en-5α,6β,11βH-12,6-olide (1) and 1β,9β-diacetoxyeudesm-4-en-6β,11βH-12,6-olide (2). The structures of the compounds were determined by comprehensive NMR studies, including DEPT, COSY, NOESY, HMQC, HMBC and HRMS.  相似文献

The effect of maturation pretreatment on development and growth of Abies numidica De Lann. somatic embryos was studied. The most beneficial was pre-culturing on Schenk and Hildebrandt medium without growth regulator for 2 weeks. Dry mass accumulation of emblings was lower than that of seedlings after 50 d of culturing. Contents of microelements in seedlings were higher than in emblings, but macroelements contents were higher in emblings. Contents of chlorophyll a and chlorophyll b in cotyledons were higher in seedlings than in emblings while no qualitative differences were detected between the protein profiles of seedlings and emblings.  相似文献

A hitherto unrecognized cause of contact dermatitis in California is the widely cultivated plant known as Algerian ivy. This plant, which grows in California (and its close relative, English ivy) causes a dermatitis which is similar to although milder than that caused by poison oak. Dermatitis from this cause occurs most frequently when persons who have become sensitive to it by previous contact trim the plant back in the spring after its seasonal spurt of growth. For persons whose occupations require repeated contact with the plant, dermatitis from this cause is an occupational hazard. Dermatitis from this plant is easily diagnosed by means of a simple patch test. In a series of 12 cases the only effective treatment was with corticosteroid agents.  相似文献

Biotinidase deficiency is an autosomal recessive disorder of biotin metabolism leading to varying degrees of neurologic and cutaneous symptoms when untreated. In the present study, we report the clinical features and the molecular investigation of biotinidase deficiency in four unrelated consanguineous Algerian families including five patients with profound biotinidase deficiency and one child characterized as partial biotinidase deficiency. Mutation analysis revealed three novel mutations, c.del631C and c.1557T>G within exon 4 and c.324-325insTA in exon 3. Since newborn screening is not available in Algeria, cascade screening in affected families would be very helpful to identify at risk individuals.  相似文献

The composition of 55 samples of essential oil isolated from the aerial parts of wild growing Myrtus communis L. harvested in 16 locations from East to West Algeria were investigated by GC (determination of retention indices) and 13C‐NMR analyses. The essential oils consisted mainly of monoterpenes, α‐pinene (27.4–59.2%) and 1,8‐cineole (6.1–34.3%) being the major components. They were also characterized by the absence of myrtenyl acetate. The compositions of the 55 oils were submitted to k‐means partitioning and principal component analysis, which allowed the distinction of two groups within the oil samples, which could be subdivided into two subgroups each. Groups I (78% of the samples) and II were differentiated on the basis of the contents of α‐pinene, linalool, and linalyl acetate. Subgroups IA and IB could be distinguished by their contents of α‐pinene and 1,8‐cineole. Subgroups IIA and IIB differed substantially in their contents of 1,8‐cineole and limonene. All the samples contained 3,3,5,5,8,8‐hexamethyl‐7‐oxabicyclo[4.3.0]non‐1(6)‐ene‐2,4‐dione (up to 4.9%).  相似文献
