A new deep water species from off the Chilean coast, Jerrybuccinum kantorisp. n., is described. The animal is equipped with a large statocyst. Kryptos explorator Fraussen & Sellanes, 2008 from off Concepción is found to be congeneric and transferred to the genus Jerrybuccinum. Differences in size and sculpture serve to distinguish the new species from J. explorator. Both Chilean species are associated with methane seep or low oxygen environments. They are compared with J. malvinense Kantor & Pastorino, 2009 and two still unnamed species from the Falkland Plateau.  相似文献

This revision addresses two Southern Hemisphere genera in the family Buccinidae. Buccipagoda kengrahami (Ponder, 1982) and B. ponderi n. sp. are recognised from off southern Australia and B. achilles n. sp. from off New Zealand. Two new species of the genus Rissoella Gray, 1847 are described from Venezuela, one from the National Park Morrocoy, Rissoella morrocoyensis sp. n. and the other from the Wildlife Refuge Isla de Aves, Rissoella venezolanicola sp. n. Rissoella morrocoyensis sp. n. has a deep umbilicus (partly closed), preumbilical cord, black head, hypobranchial gland marked by a pale yellow boomerang-shaped ribbon and it lives on the leaves of the seagrass Thalassia testudinum Banks & König, 1805. Rissoella venezolanicola sp. n. has an angled preumbilical cord which extends to the columella delimiting a trapezoid, a hypobranchial gland marked by a yellow quaver-shaped ribbon and protoconch with fuchsia highlights. It lives on the brown alga Dictyota spp. The records of Rissoella in the Caribbean are revised and illustrations, a comparative table and a key to the Caribbean species known for the genus are provided.  相似文献

Abstract

Perotrochus caledonicus n.sp. is described from the upper bathyal south of New Caledonia, an old area that has remained stable over the past few million years, and P. tangaroana n.sp. is described from the bathyal of Lau Ridge. These represent the first occurrence of living Pleurotomariidae in the South Pacific; other representatives of the family are restricted to Southeast Asian seas or the Atlantic.  相似文献

A new pectinodontid species collected from sunken wood in the East China Sea off Zhejiang Province, China, is described and assigned to the genus Pectinodonta Dall, 1882. This new species, Pectinodonta mazuae n. sp., has a medium sized shell with a fine sculpture; shell width about 72%–75% of shell length, height about 61%–66% of length, and each lateral tooth has 16 or 17 cusps. These features may be used to distinguish the new species from its congeners.

The taxonomy of common northern nudibranch molluscs of the genus Dendronotus in the vast cold regions of Eurasia remains largely unknown. Abundant material collected in many localities from the Barents Sea, via the Arctic region, to the north‐west Pacific was analysed for the first time. An integrated approach combining morphological and ontogenetic data with molecular four‐gene (COI, 16S, H3, and 28S) analysis reveals seven species, including three previously undescribed. Dendronotus frondosus (Ascanius, 1774) and Dendronotus dalli Bergh, 1879 were commonly considered as amphiboreal species; however, according to this study they are restricted to the North Atlantic and the North Pacific, respectively. In the north‐west Pacific two new species were discovered, D endronotus kamchaticus sp. nov. and D endronotus kalikal sp. nov. , that are externally similar to D. frondosus, but that show significant distance according to molecular analysis and are considerably different in radular morphology. In the North Atlantic a new species D endronotus niveus sp. nov. , sibling to North Pacific D. dalli, is revealed. The separate status of North Atlantic Dendronotus lacteus (Thompson, 1840) is confirmed, including considerable range extension. The essential similarity of early ontogenetic stages of radular development common for species with disparate adult radular morphology (such as D. frondosus and D. dalli) is shown, and its importance for taxonomy is discussed. © 2015 The Linnean Society of London  相似文献

A coleoid gladius (Mollusca, Cephalopoda), well preserved in a phosphate nodule, is described from the lower Albian of Normandy (France). The lateral parts of the gladius are considered as the remains of a primary conus. This fossil is part of a gladius of modern type. It is thought to be included in an evolutionary trend leading to the Recent genera, of narrowing of the gladius associated with greater streamlining of the body. The coleoid gladii are almost unknown from the Cretaceous. This coleoid gladius from the Albian of Normandy differs from any known Mesozoic gladius, and thus is named Normanoteuthis inopinata, new genus, new species, within the family Plesioteuthidae.  相似文献

The genus Tripidofusus n. gen. is proposed to include Tropidofusus ypotethys n. sp. from bathyal depths off New Zealand, as well as Fulgurofusus aequilonius and Columbarium benthocallis from the abyssal zones of the Bering Sea and Scotia Sea, respectively. Tropidofusus can be distinguished from both Fulgurofusus and Coluzea on the basis of its lower spire, prominent peripheral keel, long, thin siphonal canal, as well as in having a much thinner shell that lacks axial sculpture. The type species, Tropidofusus ypotethys n. sp., differs from its congeners in having a broader peripheral keel, smaller aperture and longer siphonal canal, as well as by inhabiting bathyal rather than abyssal depths. The genus is reviewed and the relationships of Tropidofusus to other supraspecific taxa within Columbariidae are discussed, as are relationships among the families within Turbinelloidea.

The species of Pugillaria Iredale, 1924 are revised and redescribed. Having not been described adequately, the type species Siphonaria stowae Verco, 1906 of the genus Pugillaria has remained confused and hence the status and validity of the genus uncertain. Previous assessments of S. stowae were based solely on the interpretation of shell and radula characteristics. Three species of Pugillaria are described, two are new and all are endemic to Australia. Pugillaria species are amongst the smallest known members of the Siphonariidae. They are very uncommon and have probably been overlooked as juveniles of larger co-existing siphonariid or patelliform species in collections. They have a distinctive shell morphology, reproductive system and radula. The genus is differentiated from other siphonariid genera (Siphonaria Sowerby, 1823, Benhamina Finlay, 1927 and Williamia Monterosato, 1884) as well as the coexisting Trimusculus Schmidt, 1818 (Ellobiidae).

A new species of genus Vitrea is described: Vitrea ulrichi sp. n. is the eleventh species within the genus found in Bulgaria, and the largest representative of the Bulgarian Vitrea. In a survey of the mollusc fauna of the Ceyhan River Basin, including rivers, natural lakes, dam lakes and springs between June 2008 and September 2014, a total of 20 species of Gastropoda and 8 species of Bivalvia were identified. Two of these species are new to science, and for one of them a new genus is erected: the hydrobiid Hemite ceyhanensis gen. n., sp. n., and the bithyniid Pseudobithynia cocussusica sp. n.

In the course of a comparative analysis of the species included in the copepod genus Monstrillopsis Sars, a new species of the genus was discovered. The new species, Monstrillopsis chilensis n. sp., was found in a plankton sample collected in coastal waters off central Chile in the Southeastern Pacific. The adult female is similar to females of the type species M. dubia Scott and related forms but differs from its congeners by a combination of characters including: (1) a pair of small cephalic processes present between bases of antennules; (2) deep corrugations present on proximo-lateral surface of fifth pedigerous somite; (3) exopodal lobe of fifth leg not distally elongated; and (4) endopodal lobe of fifth legs short. This is the first record of the genus in the Southeastern Pacific and the second record of any monstrilloid in Chile. A comparative analysis of the species assigned to Monstrillopsis allowed a clarification of the generic characters and limits. The most important apomorphic characters in the genus are the presence of four caudal setae and modifications of the male antennule; other potentially useful characters are the pattern of antennule segmentation and the uniform presence of a reduced inner lobe of the fifth leg. The female of Monstrilla reticulata Davis should be retained in Monstrilla, but the purportedly conspecific male is probably a Monstrillopsis. Monstrillopsis ciqroi Suárez-Morales and M. angustipes Isaac should be transferred to Monstrilla. Haemocera filogranarum Malaquin is probably a species of Monstrillopsis. Monstrillopsis zernowi is tentatively retained in this genus as an aberrant form. A key for the identification of the species of this genus is included.  相似文献
