The gut microbiota of birds is known to be characterized for different species, although it may change with feeding items. In this study, we compared the gut microbiota of birds with different feeding behaviors in the same habitat. We collected fecal samples from three Arctic species, snow buntings Plectrophenax nivalis, sanderlings Calidris alba, and pink‐footed geese Anser brachyrhynchus that are phylogenetically quite distant in different families to evaluate effects of diet on gut microbiota. Also, we characterized the prevalence of fecal bacteria using the Illumina MiSeq platform to sequence bacterial 16S rRNA genes. Our NMDS results showed that fecal bacteria of snow buntings and sanderlings were significantly distant from those of pink‐footed geese. Although all three birds were occupied by three bacterial phyla, Proteobacteria, Firmicutes, and Bacteroidetes, dominant taxa still varied among the species. Our bacterial sequences showed that snow buntings and sanderlings were dominated by Firmicutes and Bacteroidetes, while pink‐footed geese were dominated by Proteobacteria. In addition, the bacterial diversity in snow buntings and sanderlings was significantly higher than that in pink‐footed geese. Our results suggest that insectivorous feeding diet of snow buntings and sanderlings could be responsible for the similar bacterial communities between the two species despite the distant phylogenetic relationship. The distinctive bacterial community in pink‐footed geese was discussed to be related with their herbivorous diet.  相似文献

Birds breeding in cold environments regularly have to interrupt incubation to forage, causing a trade-off between two mutually exclusive behaviours. Earlier studies showed that uniparental Arctic sandpipers overall spend less time incubating their eggs than biparental species, but interspecific differences in size and ecology were potential confounding factors. This study reports on a within-species comparison of breeding schedules and metal egg temperatures in uni- and biparental sanderlings (Calidris alba) in Northeast Greenland in relation to ambient temperature. We recorded incubation schedules with nest temperature loggers in 34 sanderling clutches (13 uniparentals, 21 biparentals). The temperature of a metal egg placed within the clutch of 17 incubating birds (6 uniparentals, 9 biparentals) was measured as an indicator of the heat put into eggs. Recess frequency, recess duration and total recess time were higher in uniparentals than in biparentals and positively correlated with ambient temperatures in uniparentals only. Uniparental sanderlings maintained significantly higher metal egg temperatures during incubation than biparentals (1.4°C difference on average). Our results suggest that uniparental sanderlings compensate for the lower nest attendance, which may prolong the duration of the incubation period and negatively affect the condition of the hatchlings, by maintaining a higher heat flux into the eggs.  相似文献

ABSTRACT Off-road vehicle (ORV) traffic is one of several forms of disturbance thought to affect shorebirds at migration stopover sites. Attempts to measure disturbance effects on shorebird habitat use and behavior at stopover sites are difficult because ORV disturbance is frequently confounded with habitat and environmental factors. We used a before-after-control-impact experimental design to isolate effects of vehicle disturbance from shorebird responses to environmental and habitat factors. We manipulated disturbance levels within beach closures along South Core Banks, North Carolina, USA, and measured changes in shorebird abundance and location, as well as the activity of one focal species, the sanderling (Calidris alba), within paired control and impact plots. We applied a discrete treatment level of one flee-response-inducing event every 10 minutes on impact plots. We found that disturbance reduced total shorebird and black-bellied plover (Pluvialis squatarola) abundance and reduced relative use of microhabitat zones above the swash zone (wet sand and dry sand) by sanderlings, black-bellied plovers, willets (Tringa semipalmata), and total shorebirds. Sanderlings and total shorebirds increased use of the swash zone in response to vehicle disturbance. Disturbance reduced use of study plots by sanderlings for resting and increased sanderling activity, but we did not detect an effect of vehicle disturbance on sanderling foraging activity. We provide the first estimates of how a discrete level of disturbance affects shorebird distributions among ocean beach microhabitats. Our findings provide a standard to which managers can compare frequency and intensity of disturbance events at other shorebird stopover and roosting sites and indicate that limiting disturbance will contribute to use of a site by migratory shorebirds.  相似文献

Summary The relative importance of prey availability and intruder pressure in the regulation of harrier (Circus cyaneus) territory size was investigated over two years using analytical methods chosen to permit comparison with Myers et al. (1979) study of sanderlings (Calidris alba). Relationships between territory area and two variables, prey type (mice; large, medium, and small birds) and intruder type (conspecific neighbors, conspecific floaters, and heterospecific floaters), and the consistency of these relationships between years, also were examined. Individual harrier territory areas were highly variable, ranging from 7.8 to 1249 ha in 1984/1985, and 3.9 to 71.3 ha in 1985/1986. Of the prey variables, only mouse availability was significantly inversely correlated with territory area in both years, and slopes resulting from correlations between the logarithms of these two variables did not differ significantly from — 1, the expected result if harriers were adjusting mouse availabilities. The abundance of mice in conjunction with their greater ease of capture relative to birds made them functionally more available, and hence harriers' primary prey. This may explain why mice, rather than birds, were apparently the defended resource. Of the intruder variables, neighbor variables were most strongly inversely cortelatd with territory area. Partial correlation analyses to determine the relative importance of intruder pressure and prey availability in regulating territory size revealed that in 1984/1985, mouse availability and intruder pressure were relatively independent and each explained some variation in territory area, whereas in 1985/1986, mouse availability, rather than intruder pressure, significantly explained all variation in territory area. Possible explanations for why territory sizes of harriers appear to be regulated more closely by food density, whereas territory sizes of sanderlings appear to be regulated more closely by intruder pressure, are based upon differences in 1) neighbor effects, 2) environmental ronmental variability, and 3) accuracy of resource assessment by intruders. The variation in intruder rates and prey availabilities observed between years suggests the need to conduct studies over several years in order to assess accurately the relative importance of these variables in territory-size regulation.  相似文献

Large numbers of shorebirds stop over at Delaware Bay during spring migration and undergo major mass increases within a two- to three-week period. We studied plasma levels of corticosterone and growth hormone in three species of migrants that use this site, sanderlings, Calidris alba, semipalmated plovers, Charadrius semipalmatus, and semipalmated sandpipers, Calidris pusilla. Semipalmated sandpipers were also studied at a fall migration stopover in Manomet, Massachusetts. These two hormones were chosen because they modulate the physiological processes of lipogenesis/lipolysis and promote increased feeding in birds. The stress response was not suppressed in the shorebirds studied, and plasma levels of corticosterone were elevated compared to other studies. We believe that the high levels of corticosterone relate to the rapid fat deposition that takes place at this stop-over site. There was a significant negative correlation between plasma growth hormone and body mass, indicating the lipolytic effects of the growth hormone. Because the lighter birds are recent arrivals to Delaware Bay they may have elevated plasma growth because of fat breakdown during flight to this stop-over site. Prevailing triple infection with three distinct Wolbachia strains was identified in Japanese populations of the adzuki bean beetle, Callosobruchus chinensis. When a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay was conducted using universal primers for ftsZ and wsp, Wolbachia was detected in all the individuals examined, 288 males and 334 females from nine Japanese populations. PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) analysis of cloned wsp gene fragments from single insects revealed that three types of wsp sequences coexist in the insects. Molecular phylogenetic analysis of the wsp sequences unequivocally demonstrated that C. chinensis harbours three phylogenetically distinct Wolbachia, tentatively designated as wBruCon, wBruOri and wBruAus, respectively. Diagnostic PCR analysis using specific primers demonstrated that, of 175 males and 235 females from nine local populations, infection frequencies with wBruCon, wBruOri and wBruAus were 100%, 96.3% and 97.0%, respectively. As for the infection status of individuals, triple infection (93.7%) dominated over double infection (6.1%) and single infection (0.2%). The amounts of wBruCon, wBruOri and wBruAus in field-collected adult insects were analysed by using a quantitative PCR technique in terms of wsp gene copies per individual insect. Irrespective of original populations, wBruCon and wBruOri (107 -108 wsp copies/insect) were consistently greater in amount than wBruAus (106 -107 wsp copies/insect), suggesting that the population sizes of the three Wolbachia strains are controlled, although the mechanism is unknown. Mating experiments suggested that the three Wolbachia cause cytoplasmic incompatibility at different levels of intensity.  相似文献

HIV-1 exploits numerous host cellular pathways for productive infection. To identify novel factors involved in HIV-1 replication, HIV-1 integrase and matrix protein complexes were captured at 4 hours post infection for proteomic analysis using an affinity purification system. Leucine-rich PPR-motif containing (LRPPRC) protein, a cellular protein involved in mitochondrial function, cell metabolism, and cell-cycle progression was identified as one of the candidate HIV-1 factors. Co-immunoprecipitation RT-PCR experiments confirmed that LRPPRC associated with HIV-1 nucleic acids during the early steps of virus infection. To establish if LRPPRC was critical for HIV-1 infection, three independent LRPPRC knockdown cell lines were constructed (2.7, 3.6, and 4.1). Subcellular fractionation of these cell lines revealed differential knockdown of LRPPRC in subcellular compartments. LRPPRC was knocked down in the insoluble/cytoskeletal fractions of all three cell lines, but the 3.6 and 4.1 cells also showed a reduction in nuclear LRPPRC. Additionally, several cellular factors were downregulated and/or disrupted by loss of LRPPRC. HIV-1 infection was reduced in all three cell lines, but virus production and RNA encapsidation were unaffected, suggesting that LRPPRC was critical for the afferent stage of virus replication. Two of the three cell lines (3.6, 4.1) were refractory for murine leukemia virus infection, a virus dependent on cellular proliferation for productive infection. Consistent with this, these two cell lines exhibited reduced cellular growth with no loss of cellular viability or change in cell cycle phenotype. The early steps of virus infection were also differentially affected among the cell lines. A reduced level of preintegration complex formation was observed in all three cell lines, but viral DNA nuclear import was reduced only in the 3.6 and 4.1 cells. Combined, these data identify LRPPRC as a HIV-1 factor that is involved in HIV-1 replication through more than one mechanism.  相似文献

Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) is etiologically associated with Kaposi's sarcoma, a dominant AIDS-related tumor of endothelial cells, and several other lymphoproliferative malignancies. While activation of the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase-protein kinase C-MEK-ERK pathway is essential for KSHV infection, we have recently shown that KSHV also activates JNK and p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathways during primary infection (J. Xie, H. Y. Pan, S. Yoo, and S.-J. Gao, J. Virol. 79:15027-15037, 2005). Here, we found that activation of both JNK and p38 pathways was also essential for KSHV infection. Inhibitors of all three MAPK pathways reduced KSHV infectivity in both human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC) and 293 cells. These inhibitory effects were dose dependent and occurred at the virus entry stage of infection. Consistently, inhibition of all three MAPK pathways with dominant-negative constructs reduced KSHV infectivity whereas activation of the ERK pathway but not the JNK and p38 pathways enhanced KSHV infectivity. Importantly, inhibition of all three MAPK pathways also reduced the yield of infectious virions during KSHV productive infection of HUVEC. While the reduction of infectious virions was in part due to the reduced infectivity, it was also the result of direct modulation of KSHV lytic replication by the MAPK pathways. Accordingly, KSHV upregulated the expression of RTA (Orf50), a master transactivator of KSHV lytic replication, and activated its promoter during primary infection. Furthermore, KSHV activation of RTA promoter during primary infection was modulated by all three MAPK pathways, predominantly through their downstream target AP-1. Together, these results indicate that, by modulating multiple MAPK pathways, KSHV manipulates the host cells to facilitate its entry into the cells and postentry productive lytic replication during primary infection.  相似文献

The predictive value of acute gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT) CD4+ T cell depletion in lentiviral infections was assessed by comparing three animal models illustrative of the outcomes of SIV infection: pathogenic infection (SIVsmm infection of rhesus macaques (Rh)), persistent nonprogressive infection (SIVagm infection of African green monkeys (AGM)), and transient, controlled infection (SIVagm infection of Rh). Massive acute depletion of GALT CD4+ T cells was a common feature of acute SIV infection in all three models. The outcome of this mucosal CD4+ T cell depletion, however, differed substantially between the three models: in SIVsmm-infected Rh, the acute GALT CD4+ T cell depletion was persistent and continued with disease progression; in SIVagm, intestinal CD4+ T cells were partially restored during chronic infection in the context of normal levels of apoptosis and immune activation and absence of damage to the mucosal immunologic barrier; in SIVagm-infected Rh, complete control of viral replication resulted in restoration of the mucosal barrier and immune restoration. Therefore, our data support a revised paradigm wherein severe GALT CD4+ T cell depletion during acute pathogenic HIV and SIV infections of humans and Rh is necessary but neither sufficient nor predictive of disease progression, with levels of immune activation, proliferation and apoptosis being key factors involved in determining progression to AIDS.  相似文献

A comparative study of simian virus 40 (SV40) lytic infection in three different monkey cell lines is described. The results demonstrate that viral deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) synthesis and infectious virus production begin some 10 to 20 hr earlier in CV-1 cells and primary African green monkey kidney (AGMK) cells than in BSC-1 cells. Induction of cellular DNA synthesis by SV40 was observed in CV-1 and AGMK cells but not with BSC-1 cells. Excision of large molecular weight cellular DNA to smaller fragments was easily detectable late in infection of AGMK cells. Little or no excision was observed at comparable times after infection of CV-1 and BSC-1 cells. The different kinds of responses of these three monkey cell lines during SV40 lytic infection suggest the involvement of cellular functions in the virus-directed induction of cellular DNA synthesis and the excision of this DNA from the genome.  相似文献

Similar to Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection in humans, HCVcc infection can also result in persistent and chronic infection. The core protein is a variable protein and exists in several sizes. Some sizes of core proteins have been reported to be related to chronic HCV infection. To study the possible role of the core protein in persistent HCV infection, a persistent HCVcc infection was established, and the expression of the core protein was analysed over the course of the infection. The results show that there are three sizes of core proteins (p24, p21 and p19) expressed during the establishment of persistent HCVcc infection. Of these, the p21 core protein is the mature form of the HCV core protein. The p24 core protein is the phosphorylated form of p21. The p19 core protein appears to be a functional by-product generated during the course of infection. These three core proteins are all localized in the cytoplasm and can be encapsidated into the HCV virion. The appearance of the p19 and p24 core proteins might be related to acute HCVcc infection and chronic infection respectively and may play an important role in the pathology of a HCV infection.  相似文献

目的:分析慢性乙型肝炎及肝硬化患者幽门螺杆菌感染的临床特征。方法:选取2013年5月到2014年5月我院收治的胃镜检查患者58例,其中肝硬化患者17例(肝硬化组),慢性乙型肝炎患者22例(慢性乙型肝炎组),普通患者19例(普通组),根据肝硬化门脉高压的严重程度将患者分为轻型(5例)、中型(7例)和重型(5例),比较各组幽门螺杆菌的感染情况。结果:肝硬化组、慢性乙型肝炎组及普通组幽门螺杆菌感染率分别为23.5%,22.7%,21.1%,三组比较差异无统计学意义(x2=2.872,P=0.072);肝硬化轻、中、重患者幽门螺杆菌感染率分别为20.0%、28.6%、20.0%,三者比较无统计学意义(x2=1.892,P=0.082)。结论:慢性乙型肝炎、肝硬化及普通患者幽门螺杆菌感染情况相似,且幽门螺杆菌感染对肝硬化门静脉高压无影响。  相似文献

Transgenic expression of the RNA-dependent RNA polymerase 3D(pol) inhibited infection of Theiler's murine encephalitis virus (TMEV), a picornavirus from which it was derived. Here, we infected 3D(pol) transgenic mice with another picornavirus, as well as an alphaherpesvirus and a rhabdovirus. 3D(pol) transgenic FVB mice had significantly lower viral loads and survived longer after infection with all three types of viruses than nontransgenic FVB mice. Viral inhibition among three different types of virus by transgenic 3D(pol) suggests that the mechanism of action is not the direct interference with picornaviral 3D(pol) but instead may be the changing of host cells to an antiviral state before or after viral infection occurs, as basal interferon levels were higher in 3D(pol) transgenic mice before infection. Further study of this mechanism may open new possibilities for future antiviral therapy.  相似文献

The macro-pathological impact of plerocercoid infection of perch Perca fluviatilis livers was quantitatively determined by an index of liver lesion ( I LL) in fish from Upper Lake Constance (ULC). These results were compared to the I LL values of perch from two other lakes. From February to November 1999, 2071 perch were examined from the three sites. Prevalence of infection in ULC was 13% in actively growing first year (0+ year) perch and 94% in older fish, whereas in the two lakes used for comparison the figures for 0+ year perch were 12 and 20%, and in older fish 62 and 60%, respectively. Infected livers from perch caught in ULC revealed significantly higher I LL values than those of fish from the other two lakes. Perch livers from ULC containing more than three Triaenophorus nodulosus larvae also showed significantly more serious pathological alterations than uninfected livers or those with normal infection levels of one to three T. nodulosus . In all three lakes, excluding heavily infected perch from ULC, 0+ year perch livers revealed little or no damage, whereas in livers of older perch pathological alterations were apparent. In addition, analysis of age and total length data showed that perch infected with one to three parasites in ULC grew significantly slower than uninfected ones, and severely infected perch (greater than three parasites) grew significantly slower than those with a normal parasite load. With respect to mass, growth of ULC fish suffering normal infection (49% of all adults) was reduced by 9% and in those with severe infections (45% of all adults) growth was 16% below expected at normal harvesting age.  相似文献

Penetration of the nervous systems of suckling mice by prototype strains of the three mammalian reovirus serotypes was studied after footpad inoculation of a dose (10(7) PFU) representing 3.5 x 10(3) 50% lethal doses (LD50) for reovirus type 3 Dearing and less than 1 LD50 for reoviruses type 1 Lang and type 2 Jones. Type 3 Dearing entered both motor and sensory neurons; infected neurons were clearly detectable by immunohistochemical staining 19 h after inoculation. By day 2, a second cycle of infection had occurred, and by day 4, several hundred motor and sensory neurons and interneurons were infected. By this time, infection also involved large areas of the brain stem and brain. There was evidence of both retrograde and anterograde movement of viral antigen within axons and dendrites. Unexpectedly, reovirus type 1 Lang followed neuronal pathways as well as being disseminated in the bloodstream. Reovirus type 2 Jones also entered neurons. While the number of motor neurons and interneurons infected with type 1 Lang or type 2 Jones remained limited within the first 4 days after inoculation, infection of sensory neurons increased with time and reached a level by day 4 comparable to that observed after infection with type 3 Dearing. Viral antigen was also found in the brain stem and brain, but this infection was limited. These three strains multiplied in nonneuronal tissues. Connective tissue in the footpad was massively infected by all three strains 19 h after inoculation. By this time, foci of infection were also present in muscle and skin. Viral antigen was repeatedly observed in the endothelium of blood vessels and in the meninges after infection with type 1 Lang. The titer of type 1 Lang increased in the blood with time, which was not observed after infection with strains of the other two serotypes. In this study, we found that prototype strains of the three reovirus serotypes exhibited different degrees of neurotropism, all being capable of entering neurons. Transmission of the infection occurred through synapses rather than from cell body to cell body. Thus reovirus, like herpesvirus and rabies virus, is a good marker for the identification of neuronal pathways, although its capacity to grow in neurons, unlike that of herpesvirus and rabies virus, is restricted to newborn animals.  相似文献

The objectives of this study were to determine if vaccination against porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) or previous PCV2 infection of the dam are sufficient to prevent fetal infection when dams are artificially inseminated with PCV2-spiked semen. Nine sows (Sus domestica) were allocated into three groups of three dams each: The PCV2 naïve negative control Group 1 was artificially inseminated with extended PCV2 DNA negative semen during estrus, whereas the extended semen used in the vaccinated Group 2 (PCV2 vaccine was given 8 wk before insemination) and PCV2-exposed Group 3 (infected with PCV2 12 wk before insemination) was spiked with 5 mL of PCV2 inoculum with a titer of 104.2 tissue culture infectious dose (TCID50) per milliliter at each breeding. The dams in the vaccinated and PCV2-exposed groups were positive for PCV2 antibody but negative for PCV2 DNA in serum at the time of insemination. Three negative control dams, two vaccinated dams, and three dams with previous PCV2 exposure became pregnant and maintained pregnancy to term. After artificial insemination, viremia was detected in one of three vaccinated dams and in two of three dams with previous PCV2 exposure. At farrowing, PCV2 infection was not detected in any piglets or fetuses expelled from the negative control dams or from dams with previous PCV2 exposure. In litters of the vaccinated dams, 15 of 24 live-born piglets were PCV2 viremic at birth, with 6 of 26 fetuses having detectable PCV2 antigen in tissues. In conclusion, vaccine-induced immunity did not prevent fetal infection in this sow model using semen spiked with PCV2.  相似文献

Background

Parasitic infections, which are among the most common infections worldwide, disproportionately affect children; however, little is known about the impact of parasitic disease on growth in very early childhood. Our objective was to document the prevalence of parasitic infections and examine their association with growth during the first three years of life among children in coastal Kenya.

Methodology/Principal Findings

Children enrolled in a maternal-child cohort were tested for soil transmitted helminths (STHs: Ascaris, Trichuris, hookworm, Strongyloides), protozoa (malaria, Entamoeba histolytica and Giardia lamblia), filaria, and Schistosoma infection every six months from birth until age three years. Anthropometrics were measured at each visit. We used generalized estimating equation (GEE) models to examine the relationship between parasitic infections experienced in the first three years of life and growth outcomes (weight, length and head circumference). Of 545 children, STHs were the most common infection with 106 infections (19%) by age three years. Malaria followed in period prevalence with 68 infections (12%) by three years of age. Filaria and Schistosoma infection occurred in 26 (4.8%) and 16 (2.9%) children, respectively. Seven percent were infected with multiple parasites by three years of age. Each infection type (when all STHs were combined) was documented by six months of age. Decreases in growth of weight, length and head circumference during the first 36 months of life were associated with hookworm, Ascaris, E. histolytica, malaria and Schistosoma infection. In a subset analysis of 180 children who followed up at every visit through 24 months, infection with any parasite was associated with decelerations in weight, length and head circumference growth velocity. Multiple infections were associated with greater impairment of linear growth.

Conclusions/Significance

Our results demonstrate an under-recognized burden of parasitism in the first three years of childhood in rural Kenya. Parasitic infection and polyparasitism were common, and were associated with a range of significant growth impairment in terms of weight, length and/or head circumference.  相似文献

To clarify the persistent TT virus (TTV) infection, we studied a possibility of multiple TTV infection by genotype analysis of isolated TTV obtained from seven Japanese hemophiliacs. The nucleotide sequences including 222 bp in the open reading frame 1 (ORF1) region of 10 TTV isolates from each patient were analyzed and classified into various TTV genotypes such as G1 to G6 by phylogenetic analysis using a N-J method. Multiple TTV genotypes were observed in all the hemophiliacs: three different TTV genotypes were found in three patients, whereas four different TTV genotypes were observed in the other three patients. The remaining patient was also infected with TTV of five different genotypes. Moreover, new TTV genotypes were found in these seven patients and tentatively designated as G7. The present findings indicate that multiple TTV infection with different TTV genotypes has occurred in Japanese hemophiliacs. They also provide valuable information to understand persistent TTV infection.  相似文献

2010年5月和12月,对福建沿海3个红树林生长区(洛阳江、九龙江口、漳江口)的红树林植物丛枝菌根(AM)侵染状况进行研究。结果表明:(1)红树林生长区中6种植物根内均发现AMF侵染结构,其中桐花树、秋茄、鱼藤和芦苇的丛枝为Arum(疆南星)型;(2)6种植物的丛枝菌根侵染率差异较大,老鼠簕的侵染率最高,鱼藤最低;(3)桐花树和秋茄的丛枝菌根侵染率呈显著差异,而其在不同生长区之间无差异;(4)桐花树和秋茄的丛枝菌根侵染率在不同时间呈显著差异,而钝草的丛枝菌根侵染率在不同时间的差异不显著。  相似文献

Effects of larval nutrition on vector competence of the mosquito Aedes vigilax (Skuse) (Diptera: Culicidae) from Townsville, north Queensland, for Ross River virus (RR) were examined. Larvae were reared on three different diets to create three significantly different size classes of adult mosquito. These were fed on serial dilutions of RR and then sampled on alternate days so the progression of the virus through the mosquito could be examined. No differences of vector competence could be attributed to larval nutrition. Barriers to infection and the correlation between infection rate, viral titre and transmission of RR by Ae. vigilax were also examined. The mesenteronal barrier was the only infection barrier expressed. No correlation between viral titre and transmission was detected, but a strong correlation was found between salivary gland infection and transmission rate. From this it was possible to estimate that 98.7+/-1.3% of Ae. vigilax with infected salivary glands transmit RR.  相似文献
