Eggs, larvae, pupae and adults of the large narcissus fly (Merodon equestris) were reared at a series of constant temperatures between 9–24°C. Egg development required from 37 days at 9°C to 7 days at 21.5°C. The low-temperature threshold for development was 6.7°C. Larvae reared at 1424°C were fully-grown after 18 weeks, but it took much longer for such insects to pupate, and adult flies emerged only after about 45 weeks of development. Large narcissus flies enter diapause during the larval stage and overwinter as fully-fed larvae, forming pupae in the following spring. Post-winter pupation and pupal development took from 169 days at 10°C to 36 days at 21.5°C. Of this, pupal development required from 91 days at 10°C to 19 days at 21.5°C. The low-temperature threshold for post-winter pupation and pupal development was 7.1°C, and for pupal development alone, 7.2°C. Females maintained at or below 19°C laid few eggs, whereas some females kept at or above 21.5°C laid more than 100 eggs (mean 69 ± 36). Approximately 50% of females maintained at or above 21.5°C laid less than 10 eggs during their lifetime. The mean egg-laying time was 6 to 9 days. Although temperatures at or below 19°C inhibited mating, once a female had mated, such temperatures did not prevent oviposition.  相似文献

Early warning of egg hatching in pea moth (Cydia nigricana)   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Female pea moths (Cydia nigricana) kept at 23 oC began to lay eggs 2–3 days after emergence, lived for 16–21 days and laid on average 71 eggs. Individuals kept in field cages lived for slightly longer and laid on average 91 eggs. About 85% of eggs were laid during the first 11 days of the oviposition period, usually in the late afternoon and early evening. The relationship between the rate of egg development and temperature was defined. The estimated developmental zero was 9-4 oC at constant temperatures and 8-5 oC at fluctuating temperatures. Above 28 oC mortality increased and above 31 oC development was apparently retarded. Development at constant temperatures took 6–16% longer than at fluctuating temperatures with the same mean. Estimates of hatching dates in the field made from temperature data recorded at several sites in and near a pea crop, and 8 km distant, were usually within a day of the observed date. In warm weather, estimated and observed dates usually coincided; in cooler weather hatching was 2–3 days later than expected. Hatching dates predicted from temperature data after only 80% of development had occurred were correct on 28 out of 36 occasions. An example is given to show how the method could be used eventually with a sex attractant trapping system to provide early warning of first hatching and spraying dates.  相似文献

The development and survival of female Neoceratitis cyanescens (Bezzi) (Diptera: Tephritidae) from egg to complete ovarian maturation were studied in the laboratory at five different constant temperatures: 15, 20, 25, 30, and 35 °C. The aim of this study was to get information on the influence of temperature on pre-mature stages, as a prerequisite to optimise rearing procedures and to understand temporal and geographical patterns of fruit fly occurrence. The developmental rate of the different life stages increased linearly with increasing temperatures up to 30 °C. The fastest development of pre-mature stages was recorded at 30 °C (22±1 days) and the slowest at 15 °C (98±3 days). The day-degrees requirements (K) to complete total development were 432.6 day-degrees. Lower temperature thresholds were 11.4, 11.9, 10.0, and 11.1 °C for egg, larval, pupal stages and ovarian maturation, respectively. The number of adults obtained from an initial batch of 100 eggs reached a maximum (64) at 25 °C. At 35 °C, no adults emerged. Larval developmental time was significantly shorter in green tomato fruits than in potato tubers at 15, 20, and 25 °C. Mortality rate of larvae was higher in green tomato fruits than in potato tubers at 25 and 30 °C.  相似文献

Relationships between a pheromone-trap catch, adult emergence and penetration of fruit by first-instar larvae of Cydia pomonella were investigated from 1975 to 1977 in an orchard in South West England. For the first generation the times of moth emergence and catch in the pheromone trap were not significantly different; nor were male and female emergence times. The catch of moths of the first generation in the pheromone trap anticipated the appearance of their larvae in the fruit by 140–169 day-degrees > 10 °C. Eggs hatched after 94 day-degrees in the laboratory but in the orchard, wind and sunshine modified the microclimate so that the number of day-degrees required for egg development, as measured by standard meteorological instruments, was affected by wind and sunshine but development lasted on average about 90 day-degrees. This indicated a lag of 50–80 day-degrees between the curves for trap catch and oviposition: the pre-oviposition period in the orchard was shorter than expected from laboratory studies. In 1975 and 1976, some larvae developed to produce a second generation of moths which gave rise to a second generation of eggs and larvae, after an interval of 161 day-degrees in 1975, but only 41 day-degrees in 1976, indicating that in 1976 some eggs were laid before moths of the second generation were trapped. These results indicate that the first insecticidal spray against first-generation larvae should be applied about 140 day-degrees after the start of the reference week in which five moths of the spring brood are caught per trap. A second spray, if required to maintain insecticidal cover, should be applied about 100 day-degrees later. A spray should be applied against second-generation larvae immediately after the reference week for second-generation moths.  相似文献

Bactrocera carambolae is a quarantine pest found in Brazil, restricted to the states of Amapá, Pará and Roraima. This fruit fly can potentially cause extensive socioeconomic and environmental damage in the country, if it disperse into areas where fruit is grown for exporting. The objective of this work was to study the biology of B. carambolae on fruits of Averrhoa carambola L. (Oxalidaceae), Psidium guajava L. (Myrtaceae), Spondias mombin L. (Anacardiaceae) and Eugenia stipitata McVaugh (Myrtaceae). The following parameters were investigated: duration of egg-larva, pupal, egg-adult, pre-oviposition, oviposition and post-oviposition periods, pupal weight and viability, sex ratio, fecundity, fertility and longevity. All parameters except pupal weight, oviposition and post-oviposition period, egg fertility and sex ratio were influenced by the host plant on which the larvae were reared. The carambola fruit fly completes its development on all those hosts studied here, with the highest fecundities on A. carambola and P. guajava.  相似文献

Eggs of Pteronarcys californica Newport were incubated at fixed temperatures between 5 and 20°C in the laboratory and at field temperatures in the Crowsnest River, Alberta. The regression of rate of development on temperature between 5–15°C gave a developmental zero of 3.125°C. Within the range 10–20°C, highest hatching success and fewest days to median hatch occurred at 15.0 or 17.5°C, but physiological time (day-degrees) for egg hatching increased with temperature throughout, markedly so above 15°C. A minimum of 182 days was required for 50% hatch in the laboratory, with no observable development for approximately 80 days. Eggs placed in the river on 25 May 1993 started to hatch on 17 October 1993, and the pulse of larval recruitment in the field population occurred between April and August, 11 to 15 months after oviposition. Eggs hatched over periods of 130–322 days at different temperatures in the laboratory, and over an 11-month period in the field. The placement of diapause early in embryonic development is suggested as a cause of extended recruitment. The variety of embryonic development in Plecoptera is briefly reviewed.  相似文献

枣实蝇Carpomya vesuviana Costa作为一种高度危险性的外来有害生物, 为害枣树并严重影响枣产品质量及其商品价值。本文通过在新疆进行的人工饲养和野外观察试验, 对枣实蝇的羽化、 交尾、 产卵和有效积温等生物学特性进行了研究。结果表明: 枣实蝇羽化主要集中在8:00-11:00, 占总羽化数的86.3%, 其羽化高峰期出现在10:00前后。交尾平均时长为309.00±8.46 min, 交尾高峰分别出现在11:00-12:00和20:00-21:00。雌虫产卵平均时长为8.20±0.51 min; 产卵节律不明显, 9:00之前和21:00之后产卵量较小, 白天各个时间段产卵量无显著性差异。成虫单日产卵量最高为16粒, 平均每天产6~9粒, 每产卵孔内有1~6粒卵。卵的发育起点温度为13.57℃, 有效积温为48.18日·度; 蛹的发育起点温度为6.38℃, 有效积温为357.17日·度; 卵到蛹期的发育起点温度为8.78℃, 有效积温为283.29日·度; 幼虫的发育起点温度6.39℃, 有效积温为245.61日·度。本研究为进一步开展枣实蝇科学防控提供了基本资料。  相似文献

在室内研究了温度对双纹须歧角螟Trichophysetis cretacea (Butler)生长发育及繁殖的影响。结果表明,在19~31℃范围内,双纹歧角螟的发育速率随着温度的升高而加快;当温度超过31℃时,发育速率减慢。在各虫态中,蛹期的存活受温度变化的影响最大,35℃时蛹全部死亡。19℃、23℃、27℃、31℃和35℃下的世代存活率分别为87.1%、83.0%、85.2%、70.1%和0%。卵、幼虫、预蛹、蛹及从卵至成虫的发育起点温度分别为9.08℃、8.95℃、7.80℃、9.09℃和8.86℃,有效积温分别为62.4、122.0、16.0、108.1和309.1日·度。成虫的寿命随温度的升高而缩短,27℃时成虫的产卵量最高,平均为91.3粒。19℃、23℃、27℃和31℃条件下,实验种群的净生殖率分别为31.0、41.8、46.7、0.8,内禀增长率分别为0.0813、0.1439、0.1710、-0.0094,平均世代周期分别为42.2、26.3、23.1和19.2天。  相似文献

Aceria mississippiensis andCoptophylla caroliniani (Prostigmata: Eriophyidiae) were found on wild geranium,Geranium carolinianum L., in northern Mississippi. About onehalf of the total developmental time was spent in the egg stage for each species. The developmental threshold forA. mississippiensis was 5.5±1.04°C and 7.3±0.93°C forC. caroliniani. The optimum temperature for each developmental stage was between 25 and 29°C.C. caroliniani failed to develop at 36°C, whereasA. mississippiensis failed at 40°C. Day-degree requirements to complete development were 100.7±3.6 Do and 154.6±4.1 Do forC. caroliniani andA. mississippiensis, respectively.Mean female longevity at 20°C was 17.4 (range 12–21) days forC. caroliniani and 16.5 (range 15–19) days forA. mississippiensis. The shortest pre-oviposition period was 2.2 days forC. caroliniani at 20°C and 1.7 days forA. mississippiensis at 25°C, and the length of pre-oviposition period increased with temperature above 25°C for both species.Maximum egg production ofC. caroliniani andA. mississippiensis occurred at 20°C. There were no differences (P0.05) in number of eggs per day at temperatures of 20, 25 and 32°C for each species, but there was a tendency to lay more eggs per day with increasing temperature. The percentages of egg hatch were not significantly different at these temperatures. 萧氏松茎象Hylobitelus xiaoi是严重蛀害国外松的新害虫。在江西赣南地区两年发生一代,以幼虫在蛀道、成虫在蛹室或土中越冬。卵和蛹的发育起点温度分别为8.4℃和7.5℃,有效积温分别为215.9和345.3日·度。各虫态历期:13~28℃间,卵为52.9~11.4天;13~30℃间,蛹为60.1~16.4天; 25℃恒温下,幼虫128.9天。成虫靠爬行活动,极少飞翔。成虫具夜出性活动节律:即傍晚上树行取食、交配和扩散等活动,早晨回到树干基部或土缝中。成虫需取食松枝作为补充营养,产卵前期46.3天,产卵期 105.3天,卵产于近表土的寄主树皮内,每雌产卵35.7粒。幼虫5~7龄,以幼树危害最烈。  相似文献

Stemphylium botryosum f. lactucae, incitant of a leaf-spot disease of stored lettuce, was found to be relatively restricted in its host range. Cross-inoculations with spore suspension of this fungus failed to induce symptoms in any of the host plants tested, except carrot. Among isolates of S. botryosum from various hosts, only the isolate from carrot induced slight symptoms on lettuce. While mycelial growth of the lettuce isolate was confined to the range 13–37 oC spores germinated at more extreme temperatures. The optimum temperature for germination and for radial growth on PDA was found to be between 25 and 30 oC. Wet spores were quickly inactivated at 50 oC, whereas more than 40 % of dry spores withstood a 24 h exposure to that temperature. Only the outer leaves of lettuce responded readily to inoculation with a spore suspension, the required incubation period being 3 days at 25 oC. Symptoms developed less readily on bruised leaves. Relative humidity approaching saturation was necessary for prompt and typical infection, notably during the 24 h following inoculation. Short dry periods (60 % r.h.) interposed at a later stage, while somewhat inhibitory, did not prevent infection.  相似文献

Several apiaceous and two asteraceous species were tested for their suitability to support larval development of the carrot fly. Plants grown in pots or transplanted from seed beds into pots, were inoculated with a specific number of eggs. Pupae and non-pupated larvae were collected 6–7 wk after inoculation. Both the number and weights of pupae produced varied widely among the species. Cultivated carrots Daucus carota sativus often gave rise to only moderate numbers of pupae, but these invariably attained the highest weights. Pimpinella major was the only apiaceous plant tested that did not yield any carrot flies. The two asteraceous plants Cichorium intybus and Tanacetum vulgare failed to support larval development. Total carrot fly biomass produced per plant was influenced by both the host species and the root weight. Emergence rates of adult flies were positively correlated with pupal weights. Small individuals tended to have a longer total developmental time from egg to adult fly.  相似文献

Imbibed seed of 10 common arable weeds were placed in trays in initially moist soil and, after imbibing for 2h, heated in ovens/incubators set to 31oC, 42oC, 56oC, 75oC or 100oC for 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 8 or 16 days or at 102oC, 155oC, 204oC or 262oC for 0.5, 1, 2, 5, 7.5 or 10 min. After heating, seeds were incubated for 28 days at 10/20oC or 20/30oC on a 12 h dark/light regime, depending on species, and germination recorded. At the lower temperatures, germination of all species was prevented by temperatures of 75oC or higher for periods of 0.5 days or more. Germination was lower after treatment at 56oC than at 31oC or 42oC for all species except Rumex obtusifolius. The maximum temperature required to prevent germination varied among species and was of greater importance than the duration of heating. Germination was variable with duration of heating. At the higher temperatures, there was very little germination of any species after heating at 204oC for 7.5 min or 262oC for 5 min or more. Seeds were greatly buffered from the air temperature by 3 mm of soil, throughout the shorter duration of heating. The average temperature of the soil, over the 10 min heating required to prevent over 90% germination, varied among species and ranged from 48oC for Avena fatua to 65oC for R. obtusifolius. This work implies that composting systems maintained at 65oC are unlikely to provide an efficient method of weed control. Recommendations for improvement of the laboratory technique are suggested.  相似文献

The developmental rates of various life stages ofRhagoletis completa Cresson (Diptera: Tephritidae) were determined in the laboratory at seven different constant temperatures: 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, and 32±1°C, RH 80±10%, photoperiod L 16∶D8. Preoviposition developmental rate was fastest at 28°C (10±1 days, mean±SD) and slowest at 12°C (26±1 days). About 83% of the females deposited eggs at 20 and 24°C and only 25% oviposited at 32°C. Females laid the highest number of eggs at 24°C and the lowest at 8°C. Egg development increased with increasing temperatures up to 28°C, then declined. The fastest egg development was noticed at 28°C (55±1 h) and slowest at 8°C (389±2 h). Over 90% egg hatch was observed at temperatures between 12 and 32°C, but decreased to 73% at 8°C. Larval development was fastest also at 28°C (20±0.2 days). Over 65% pupation was recorded at 20 and 24°C, but decreased to 15% at 32°C and 12% at 8°C. Pupal development was most rapid at 24°C (53±1 days) and slowest at 8°C (162±2 days). More than 70% of adult emergence was noticed in treatments between 16 and 24°C but decreased to 20% at 8°C. Based on a linear regression model of temperature-development rate relationship, the lower developmental thresholds were determined to be 6.6, 5.3, 2.9, and 5°C for preoviposition, egg, larval, and pupal stages, respectively. Based on a non-linear developmental rate model, the upper developmental thresholds were 34°C for preoviposition, egg, and larval stages and 30°C for pupal stage.  相似文献

The effects of temperature on age-specific fecundity, egg viability and egg cannibalism were examined in the coccidophagous coccinellid, Chilocorus nigritus being fed on the cyanophyllum scale, Abgrallaspis cyanophylli. There were no significant differences in lifetime fecundity or oviposition rate at constant temperatures in the range of 20 to 30°C although there was a trend for both parameters to increase with increasing temperatures. Total fecundity ranged from five to 1890 eggs per female whilst the oviposition rate varied from 0.2–12.1 eggs day-1. Egg viability was significantly greater at 26 and 30°C (63 and 74%, respectively) than at lower temperatures (18 to 30%) whilst egg cannibalism was highest at 24 and 26°C (being the mid range of the temperatures tested). Mean pre-oviposition periods varied from 54 days at 20°C to 8.2 days at 30°C. The effect of relative humidities in the range of 33% to 75% on oviposition rate, egg viability and egg cannibalism was measured and found to have no significant effect on either parameter.  相似文献

The olive fruit fly Bactrocera (Dacus) oleae Gmelin is a major olive pest in Greece and other Mediterranean countries. Its population density and respective olive infestation is usually low in many areas of northern Greece during summer months. To some extent, this may be due to the prevailing high temperature and low relative humidity conditions. In the present work the effects of short term exposure to high temperatures on the survival and egg production of B. oleae pre‐imaginal stages and adults were studied under laboratory conditions. Different larval instars within infested green olive fruits, adults and pupae and were exposed for 2 h to a series of different high constant temperatures ranging from 34 to 42°C. Subsequently, survival percentages of pre‐imaginal stages and adults as well as the number of eggs laid by females previously exposed to high temperatures were determined. At temperatures up to 38°C high survival percentages of larvae and adults were observed, whereas pupae displayed a relatively increased heat tolerance up to 40°C. Female longevity and egg production were substantially reduced after heat stress. Prior acclimation at 33°C for 1 and 3 days resulted in increased adult survival following heat stress. We discuss the results with respect to the ability of the fly to survive and reproduce under high summer temperatures.  相似文献

Open field experiments with the blowfly, Calliphora vicina originating from the environs of St. Petersburg showed that the correlation between the rate of its preimaginal development under the natural conditions and the mean daily temperature could be very closely approximated by linear regression. The sum of effective temperatures required for development from the egg to the puparium constituted ca 140 degree-days and from the egg to the adult, ca 320 degree-days with the lower thresholds of 5.8 and 4.8°C, respectively. The minimum duration of development (6–8 days from the egg to the puparium and 16–20 days from the egg to the adult) was recorded during the period of the highest mean temperatures (22–23°C) from July 8 to August 15 of 2010 and 2011. The rate of development under natural thermorhythms was not siggnificantly different from that under the laboratory conditions at constant temperatures from 12 to 23°C.  相似文献

Juveniles hatched readily from field cysts and very readily from eggs in egg sacs of Heterodera cruciferae, when exposed to oilseed rape root diffusate. They hatched very poorly, however, from white or brown females from which the above egg sacs had been removed. Some hatching occurred at 8 oC but much more occurred at 12 , 16, 20 and 24 oC, with most at 16 oC. Development of juveniles in roots of oilseed rape occurred throughout the range 8–24 oC, and proceeded faster the higher the temperature. The basal development temperature was taken as 5 oC and the number of day degrees above this temperature required to reach each stage of development was calculated. From invasion of roots to the hatching of F1 juveniles required an average of 680 day degrees, but only 210 day degrees were required for the first appearance of egg sacs on adult females. On this basis, two consecutive generations of H, cruciferae would be possible on autumn-sown oilseed rape in southern England, but the second would mature fully only after the crop was harvested. In Scotland, two consecutive generations could also occur but the second would be much less mature by harvest: only about 850 day degrees are available compared to almost 1100 in southern England. In practice, however, overlapping generations probably occur due to flushes of hatching of juveniles (i) at sowing, (ii) when soils warm up after winter and (iii) when the first generation completes its development. The proportion of eggs found in egg sacs was never more than 37% and some field cysts contained about 220 eggs; their egg sacs may, therefore, have contained as many as 150 eggs. Any study of population dynamics or damage assessment will require a quantification of the contribution of eggs in egg sacs to population density. Oilseed rape is direct drilled and may, therefore, be more sensitive to a given population density of the nematode than host crops which are transplanted.  相似文献

在实验室条件下,亚非草蛉的平均发育历期为:卵期3.1天,幼虫8.9天,成虫寿命雌虫101.7天、雄虫61.8天,产卵前期8.4天。每雌虫平均产卵量400.3粒。最大产卵量746粒。产卵高峰期为羽化后的16—24天。亚非草蛉对湿度的适应范围较广,但幼虫的死亡率与湿度的关系大。 亚非草蛉幼虫一生捕食柑桔潜叶蛾幼虫数平均为149.1头,其日捕食量随龄期的增大而增加。温度对草蛉幼虫的捕食效应具有显著的影响,在35℃时达到最高的捕食效应,而在15℃以下和40℃以上,则受到明显的限制。湿度对草蛉捕食潜叶蛾幼虫的影响呈Iogistic曲线。草蛉对潜叶蛾幼虫密度的功能反应属HollingⅠ型反应。草蛉幼虫对其自身密度的功能反应可用Watt模型模拟。草蛉对潜叶蛾幼虫的捕食作用率随捕食者个体间的相互干扰作用的增加而下降,两者之间的关系随草蛉幼虫数的增加呈幂函数下降曲线。 田间观察及室内试验结果表明,亚非草蛉是柑桔潜叶蛾的一种重要的捕食性天敌。  相似文献
