The current study aimed to explore the endophytic bacterial diversity of Avicennia marina and the potential roles of these endophytes in counteracting saline conditions in tomato plants. Molecular analysis revealed strains from Paenibacillus, Bacillus, Microbacterium, Citrobacter, Lysinibacillus, Halomonas, Virgibacillus, Exiguobacterium, and Vibrio. However, Bacillus pumilus AM11 and Exiguobacterium sp. AM25 showed significantly higher growth in saline media. In response to salinity stress, tomato plants treated with AM11 and AM25 showed significantly higher (~15–23%) biomass, photosynthetic rate and pigment accumulation compared to controls. Salinity-exposed plants had significantly reduced growth and increased (three-fold) lipid peroxidation, whilst glutathione, catalase, and peroxidase activities were significantly reduced. In contrast, AM11, AM25, and methionine improved these physiochemical attributes. The study concludes that the application of bacterial endophytes from plants growing in saline conditions can offer other plants similar stress-resistance potential. Such halophytic bacterial strains can be used to improve plant growth in saline conditions.  相似文献

In the present study, a consortium of two rhizobacteria Bacillus amyloliquefaciens Bk7 and Brevibacillus laterosporus B4, termed ‘BB’, biochemical elicitors salicylic acid and β‐aminobutyric acid (SB) and their mixture (BBSB) were investigated for cold and drought stress tolerance in rice plants. After withholding water for 16 days, rice plants treated with BBSB showed 100% survival, improved seedling height (35.4 cm), shoot number (6.12), and showed minimum symptoms of chlorosis (19%), wilting (4%), necrosis (6%) and rolling of leaves. Similarly, BB inoculation enhanced plant growth and reduced overall symptoms in rice seedlings subjected to 0 ± 5 °C for 24 h. Our results imply several mechanisms underlying BB‐ and BBSB‐elicited stress tolerance. In contrast to the control, both treatments significantly decreased leaf monodehydroascorbate (MDA) content and electrolyte leakage, and increased leaf proline and cholorophyll content. Moreover, activities of antioxidant enzymes, superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) increased 3.0‐ and 3.6‐fold, respectively. Moreover, expression of OsMYB3R‐2, OsDIL, OsDREB1A and OsCDPK13 genes was significantly up‐regulated, suggesting that these genes play important roles in abiotic stress tolerance of rice. In addition, bacterial strains Bk7 and B4 were able to produce high amounts of IAA and siderophores, and colonise the plant roots, while only strain Bk7 exhibited the capability to form biofilms and solubilise inorganic phosphate. This study indicates that the BB and BBSB bio‐formulations can be used to confer induced systematic tolerance and improve the health of rice plants subject to chilling and drought stress.  相似文献

  • Salt stress negatively affects growth and development of plants. However, it is hypothesized that plant growth‐promoting endophytic bacteria can greatly alleviate the adverse effects of salinity and can promote growth and development of plants. In the present research, we aimed to isolate endophytic bacteria from halotolerant plants and evaluate their capacity for promoting crop plant growth.
  • The bacterial endophytes were isolated from selected plants inhabiting sand dunes at Pohang beach, screened for plant growth‐promoting traits and applied to rice seedlings under salt stress (NaCl; 150 mm ).
  • Out of 59 endophytic bacterial isolates, only six isolates, i.e. Curtobacterium oceanosedimentum SAK1, Curtobacterium luteum SAK2, Enterobacter ludwigii SAK5, Bacillus cereus SA1, Micrococcus yunnanensis SA2, Enterobacter tabaci SA3, resulted in a significant increase in the growth of Waito‐C rice. The cultural filtrates of bacterial endophytes were tested for phytohormones, including indole‐3‐acetic acid, gibberellins and organic acids. Inoculation of the selected strains considerably reduced the amount of endogenous ABA in rice plants under NaCl stress, however, they increased GSH and sugar content. Similarly, these strains augmented the expression of flavin monooxygenase (OsYUCCA1) and auxin efflux carrier (OsPIN1) genes under salt stress.
  • In conclusion, the pragmatic application of the above selected bacterial strains alleviated the adverse effects of NaCl stress and enhanced rice growth attributes by producing various phytohormones.

The objective of this study was to examine the effects of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens Y1 on the control of Fusarium wilt disease and subsequent improvement in the growth of tomato plants. The Y1 strain strongly inhibited Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici in vitro and also produced indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) in both the presence and absence of tryptophan. Over 96% of tomato seeds germinated when treated with either water, tryptone soy broth, or Y1 cultures, whereas root (5.40?cm) and shoot (5.15?cm) lengths were greatest in tomato seedlings treated with Y1 cultures that lacked tryptophan. Three experimental treatments – Black White medium (BW), BW medium with a commercial fungicide (BW?+?F), and Y1 culture inoculated in BW medium (Y1) – were applied to control Fusarium wilt disease under in vivo conditions. Application of Y1 culture and BW?+?F led to significantly lower disease incidence than did BW; moreover, shoot length and fresh and dry weight of both roots and shoots were greater in plants treated with Y1 than in plants treated with either BW or BW?+?F. A similar trend was observed for chitinase and β-1,3-glucanase activities in roots and leaves of tomato plants in all treatment groups over most of the experimental period. Finally, the presence of Y1 in the rhizospheric soils of Y1-treated plants resulted in a significant reduction in the populations of other bacteria. The results of our study demonstrated the effectiveness of Y1 not only in the control of Fusarium wilt disease but also for the enhancement of plant growth in cultivated tomato.  相似文献

A total of 84 bacterial endophytes were isolated from seeds of 6 cultivars of ornamental hostas, and they were identified to 5 species based on morphological characteristics and 16S rDNA sequence analysis. Among them, the strain ‘Blu-v2’, which was isolated from the seeds of cultivar ‘Blue Umbrella’ and identified to be Bacillus amyloliquefaciens, showed highest antifungal activity and capacity to deter feeding by Fall armyworms (Spodoptera fruigiperda). Lipopeptides in cultures of Blu-v2 were determined using matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) and its antifungal activities were verified. However, the lipopeptide preparation did not show toxicity to larvae of Fall armyworms. In a greenhouse experiment, Blu-v2 was inoculated into small plantlets of hosta (cultivar ‘Rainforest Sunrise’). The leaves of plants with bacteria (endophyte-infected?=?E+) and without bacteria (endophyte-free?=?E?) were used in seven-day feeding experiments employing fourth-instar larvae of Fall armyworms. We found that there was a significant decrease in the weights of larvae fed with E+ compared to E? plants; and the mortality rate of larvae fed with E? leaves was lower (3.33%) compared to that of larvae fed with E+ leaves (30%). Based on our studies, we suggest that endophytic B. amyloliquefaciens strain Blu-v2 has potential value as a biocontrol agent to reduce damage from fungal diseases and insect pests of hosta cultivars.  相似文献

Use of plant growth promoting rhizobacteria in managing bacterial canker disease of tomato was studied in the present work. Tomato seeds were treated with PGPR strains viz., Bacillus pumilus INR7, Bacillus pumilus SE34, Bacillus pumilus T4, Bacillus subtilis GBO3, Bacillus amyloliquefaciens IN937a and Brevibacillus brevis IPC11 were subjected for seed germination and seedling vigor. Among the PGPR strains tested, only three strains (IN937a, GBO3 and IPC11) which showed enhancement in the seed quality parameters like seed germination and seedling vigor, were further subjected for estimation of one of the defence-related enzymes, Phenylalanine Ammonia Lyase (PAL) with total phenol contents. The same three strains were recorded for maximum disease protection under greenhouse conditions. The level of PAL and total phenol contents increased significantly upon the PGPR treatment. The rate of reduction in the bacterial canker disease incidence was directly proportional to the amount of increased level of PAL and total phenol content. The possible uses of these PGPR strains in effective management of bacterial canker of tomato were discussed in the present work.  相似文献

Salt-induced soil degradation is common in farmlands and limits the growth and development of numerous crop plants in the world. In this study, we isolated salt-tolerant bacteria from the rhizosphere of Tamarix chinensis, Suaeda salsa and Zoysia sinica, which are common wild plants grown on a saline–alkaline land, to test these bacteria's efficiency in alleviating salt stress in tomato plants. We screened out seven strains (TF1–7) that are efficient in reducing salt stress in tomato seedlings. The sequence data of 16S rRNA genes showed that these strains belong to Arthrobacter and Bacillus megaterium. All strains could hydrolyze casein and solubilize phosphate, and showed at least one plant growth promotion (PGP)-related gene, indicating their potential in promoting plant growth. The Arthrobacter strains TF1 and TF7 and the Bacillus megaterium strain TF2 and TF3 could produce indole acetic acid under salt stress, further demonstrating their PGP potential. Tomato seed germination, seedling length, vigor index, and plant fresh and dry weight were enhanced by inoculation of Arthrobacter and B. megaterium strains under salt stress. Our results demonstrated that salt-tolerant bacteria isolated from the rhizosphere of wild plants grown on saline–alkaline lands could be used for alleviating salt stress in crop plants.  相似文献

Drought stress affects not only crop growth but also its morpho-physiological and biochemical traits to reduce crop productivity. The study reported in this article was designed and implemented to determine the effects of deficit irrigation and bacterial inoculation on flax plants. For this purpose, seeds were inoculated with Bacillus amyloliquefaciens (B1), Bacillus sp. Strain1 (B2), and Azotobacter chroococcum (A) as plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR). The individual inoculated plants were then grown under field conditions in 2015, while individually and in combination in pots in 2016. The irrigation regimes in either experiments included 50, 75 and 100% crop water requirement. Bacterial cultures were observed to produce ammonia (except B2), indole acetic acid and siderophores. Results showed that the PGPRs significantly mitigated the effects of water deficit. Compared with the control plants, the bacterially-inoculated plants had an enhanced relative water content, plant height, water-soluble carbohydrate and proline contents and antioxidant enzyme activities, but a decreased malondialdehyde content. B1 exhibited greater effects on most of the traits investigated under the field conditions rather than those with moderate and severe drought stress, while application of the triple bacteria in pots had greater effects on relative water content, carbohydrate and proline contents as well as malondialdehyde. The significant differences in abiotic stress indicators in PGPR-treated plants suggest that these bacteria could be used as biofertilizers to assist plant growth and to reduce the adverse effects of deficit irrigation.  相似文献

Little is known about the role of endophytic fungi against abiotic stresses and isoflavonoids (IF) contents of soybean. In current study, we investigated the role of fungal endophytes on the growth of soybean under salt stress conditions. Pure cultures of nine endophytic fungi were isolated from the roots of field-grown soybean plants, and their culture filtrates were screened on Waito-C and Dongjin-byeo rice cultivars; for identification of plant growth promoting fungal strains. It was observed that fungal isolate GMC-2B significantly promoted the growth of both Waito-C and Dongjin-byeo. GMC-2B was later identified as a new strain of Metarhizium anisopliae LHL07 on the basis of 18S rDNA sequences and phylogenetic analysis. Metarhizium anisopliae LHL07 inoculated soybean plants recorded significantly higher shoot length, shoot fresh and dry biomass, chlorophyll contents, transpiration rate, photosynthetic rate and leaf area; under sodium chloride induced salt stress as compared to non-inoculated control plants. An elevated proline and reduced superoxide dismutase and malondialdehyde contents in M. anisopliae LHL07 inoculated soybean plants demonstrated mitigation of salt induced oxidative stress. Furthermore, reduced abscisic acid and elevated jasmonic acid contents in soybean plants confirmed that lesser stress was convened to M. anisopliae inoculated-plants under salinity stress. We also assessed the role of M. anisopliae interaction on IF biosynthesis of soybean, and found significantly higher IF contents in M. anisopliae inoculated soybean plants. In conclusion, endophytic fungal interactions with soybean can be beneficial to improve soybean quality and quantity under salt affected agricultural systems.  相似文献

This study aims to understand the effects of salinity on the growth and oxidative stress enzymes of endophytic bacteria (Sphingomonas sp. LK11) and tomato plants. In response to salinity and gibberellic acid (GA4), catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase, and reduced glutathione were significantly regulated in LK11 as compared to peroxidase (POD) and polyphenol oxidase (PPO). Salinity stress to tomato plants caused significant cessation in growth and biomass, which was accompanied by threefold increase in lipid peroxidation and decrease in glutathione, CAT, POD, and PPO activities. In contrast, sole and combined treatment of LK11 and GA4 rescued plant growth and biomass production whilst exhibited lower lipid peroxidation and higher glutathione content under salinity stress. The activities of CAT, POD, and PPO were either lower or nonsignificant as compared to control. In conclusion, inoculation of bacterial endophytes offers a relative stress counteracting potentials as evidenced by the known plant growth regulators.  相似文献

Beneficial bacteria Supplemental data for this article can be accessed at https://doi.org/10.1080/17429145.2017.1370142.View all notesliving in the rhizosphere pose several implications on plant growth promotion and are highly desirable for sustainable agriculture. In the current study, we explored the ameliorative capacity of Leifsonia xyli SE134, a plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR), against copper (Cu) stress on tomato grown under elevated Cu levels of 50 and 100?mM. Initially, L. xyli SE134 modulated innate gibberellins (GAs) and indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) metabolism in response to elevated Cu toxicity. The IAA contents increased, whereas that of bioactive GAs decreased in relation to Cu concentration gradient in the broth media. Furthermore, exposure to elevated Cu caused detrimental effects on the physiological attributes as revealed by attenuated shoot length, root length, stem diameter, shoot dry weight, root dry weight, and chlorophyll content in non-inoculated tomatoes as compared to L. xyli SE134 inoculated plants. The growth rescuing effect of L. xyli SE134 may be attributed to the modulation of endogenous amino acids contents in plants, such as glutamic acid, threonine, phenylalanine, glycine, proline, and arginine. Moreover, L. xyli SE134 inoculation stimulated total polyphenol and flavonoid content, reduced super oxide dismutase activity, strongly inhibited Cu, and increased phosphorus and iron content in plants grown under elevated Cu stress. In the absence of Cu toxicity, L. xyli SE134 significantly enhanced amino acid content, improved total flavonoids, and increased phosphorus content, thus resulting in higher plant growth.  相似文献

This article correlates colonization with parameters, such as chemotaxis, biofilm formation, and bacterial growth, that are believed to be connected. We show here, by using two varieties of soybean plants that seeds axenically produced exudates, induced a chemotactic response in Bacillus amyloliquefaciens, whereas root exudates did not, even when the exudates, also collected under axenic conditions, were concentrated up to 200-fold. Root exudates did not support bacterial cell division, whereas seed exudates contain compounds that support active cell division and high cell biomass at stationary phase. Seed exudates of the two soybean varieties also induced biofilm formation. B. amyloliquefaciens colonized both seeds and roots, and plant variety significantly affected bacterial root colonization, whereas it did not affect seed colonization. Colonization of roots in B. amyloliquefaciens occurred despite the lack of chemotaxis and growth stimulation by root exudates. The data presented in this article suggest that soybean seed colonization, but not root colonization, by B. amyloliquefaciens is influenced by chemotaxis, growth, and biofilm formation and that this may be caused by qualitative changes of the composition of root exudates.  相似文献

The antagonistic potential of salinity tolerant (ST) Trichoderma (Th) isolates against Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. ciceri (foc) was tested, along with their capability to induce relative salt stress tolerance in chickpea with the aim to exploit their use as biological agents in reducing deleterious effects of salinity and controlling Fusarium wilt of chickpea under saline soil conditions. Under laboratory conditions, salt stress was created by supplementing nutrient medium with different concentrations of NaCl viz. 0, 70, 150 and 240?mM NaCl and a pot experiment was conducted using natural saline soil (EC – 6.6 dS?m?1). Out of 45 Th isolates studied, only five isolates viz. Th-13, Th-14, Th-19, Th-33 and Th-50 were selected to be ST as these were able to grow and sporulate in growth medium containing up to 240?mM NaCl. In saline medium, ST isolates greatly surpassed salinity sensitive (SS) isolate with respect to growth rate, mycelial dry weight, sporulation and biological proficiency against foc. Out of five ST isolates that retained their tolerance to different salt stress levels, Th-14 and Th-19 showed maximum antagonism against foc. Under greenhouse conditions, chickpea plants obtained from seeds bioprimed with Th-14 and Th-19 performed well both at germination and seedling stage in comparison to control in saline soil. As compared to untreated plants, characterisation of Th treated plants confirmed that they had reinforced contents of proline along with relatively higher levels of total phenols, membrane stability index and superoxide dismutase activity while lower accumulation of hydrogen peroxide and malondealdehyde contents. ST isolates, Th-14 and Th-19 significantly reduced foc-induced wilt disease incidence in chickpea plants. The population density of both the Th isolates in rhizosphere far exceeded that of foc under both saline and non-saline soils. However, Th-14 was found more efficient in increasing relative salt stress tolerance in chickpea and reducing the foc growth in rhizosphere under present materials and conditions. These findings provide a novel paradigm for developing alternative, environmentally safe strategy to alleviate salt stress and manage fungal diseases such as foc that aggravates under saline soils.  相似文献

Aims: To investigate the inhibition potential of leaf‐associated bacteria against the pathogen of bacterial leaf spot of Euphorbia pulcherrima. Methods and Results: Seven out of 200 bacterial strains were effective antagonists by in vitro screening and the two strains PAB241 and PAB242 significantly reduced the disease incidence and severity as foliar treatments of E. pulcherrima. The two effective strains, PAB241 and PAB242, were both identified as Bacillus amyloliquefaciens by a polyphasic approach including phenotypic feature, carbon source utilization profile, fatty acid methyl esters and analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequence. In addition, the suspensions of B. amyloliquefaciens PAB241 and PAB242 showed antibacterial activities against the pathogen of bacterial leaf spot of E. pulcherrima under different treatments. Conclusions: The leaf‐associated bacteria, B. amyloliquefaciens PAB241 and PAB242, markedly inhibited the growth of X. axonopodis pv. poinsettiicola under different treatments and protected E. pulcherrima from pathogen infection in growth chamber conditions. Significance and Impact of the Study: This is the first study that showed B. amyloliquefaciens from plant leaves was a potential bactericide against bacterial leaf spot of E. pulcherrima.  相似文献

Overexpression of NHX genes has been previously shown to improve salt tolerance of transgenic plants. In this study, transgenic rice plants overexpressing AtNHX5 showed not only high salt tolerance, but also high drought tolerance. Measurements of ion levels indicated that Na+ and K+ contents were all higher in AtNHX5 overexpressing shoots than in wild type (WT) shoots in high saline conditions. After exposure to water deficiency and salt stress, the WT plants all died, while the AtNHX5 overexpressing rice plants had a higher survival rate, dry weight, leaf water content, and leaf chlorophyll contents, accumulated more proline, and had less membrane damage than the WT plants. In addition, seeds of both transgenic and WT plants germinated on 1/2 MS medium supplemented with 250 mM mannitol, but overexpression of AtNHX5 improved the shoot growth of the seedlings. Taken together, the results indicate that AtNHX5 gene could enhance the tolerance of rice plants to multiple environmental stresses by promoting the accumulation of more effective osmolytes (ions or proline) to counter the osmotic stress caused by abiotic factors.  相似文献

The objective of the present study was to determine the potential plant growth-promoting action of bacterial endophytes isolated from arid land-dwelling plants under normal conditions. Overall, five bacterial endophytes LK11 (Sphingomonas sp. LK11), TP5 (Bacillus subtilis), MPB5.3 (B. subtilis subsp. Subtilis), S9 (B. subtilis subsp. Subtilis), and TP1 (Serratia marcescens) were evaluated based on morphological characteristics after isolation and purification. Phytohormonal analysis of these endophytes predicted indole acetic acid (IAA) production 12.31?±?0.45?, 6.8?±?0.59, and 10.5?±?1.02?μM/mL in the culture broths of LK11, MPB5.3, and TP1, respectively. Under controlled greenhouse conditions, these endophytes were inoculated into soybean, and their growth-promoting characteristics were compared with those of non-phytohormone-producing endophytes. In terms of plant growth promotion, among IAA-producing endophytes, LK11 and TP1 greatly improved physiological characteristics such as shoot/root length, fresh/dry weight, and chlorophyll contents. However, the non-phytohormone-producing endophytes TP5 and S9 did not show a growth-promoting effect. Based on these results, plants inoculated with LK11 and TP1 along with a control were subjected to endogenous hormonal analysis and showed a significant increase in abscisic acid (457.30–398.55 vs. 205.93 ng/g D.W.) and a decrease in jasmonic acid content (50.07–85.07 vs. 93.90 ng/g D.W.), respectively. Total gibberellin content was found to significantly increase in endophyte-inoculated plants (155.43–146.94?ng/g D.W.) as compared to that in controls (113.76 ng/g D.W.). In summary, bacterial endophytes might be used to enhance crop plant physiological characteristics isolated from arid land-inhabiting plants under normal conditions.  相似文献

Abstract The widespread use of imidacloprid against insect pests has not only increased the rate of the development of target pest resistance but has also resulted in various negative effects on rice plants and Nilaparvata lugens resurgence. However, the effect of imidacloprid on elements in rice plants and the transference of these element changes between rice and N. lugens are currently poorly understood. The present study investigated changes of Cu, Fe, Mn, Zn, Ca, K, Mg and Na contents in rice plants following imidacloprid foliar sprays in the adult female of N. lugens that develops from nymphs that feed on treated plants and honeydew produced by females. The results indicated that imidacloprid foliar spray significantly increased Fe and K contents in leaf sheaths. Generally, Fe, Mn, K and Na contents in leaf blades were noticeably decreased, but Ca contents in leaf blades for 10 and 30 mg/kg imidacloprid treatments were significantly increased. The contents of most elements except K and Mg in the adult females and honeydew were significantly elevated. Multivariate statistical analysis showed that Fe, Mn and Na in leaf blades and Fe and Mn in leaf sheaths could be proportionally transferred to N. lugens. The relationship between most elements in adult female bodies and in the honeydew showed a positive correlation coefficient. There were significant differences in the contents of some elements in rice plants and N. lugens from different regions.  相似文献

The effects of nitrogen (N) nutrition on growth, N uptake and leaf osmotic potential of rice plants (Oryza sativa L. ev. IR 36) during simulated water stress were determined. Twenty-one-day-old seedlings in high (28.6 × 10 ?4M) and low (7.14 × 10 4M) N levels were exposed to decreased nutrient solution water potentials by addition of polyethylene glycol 6000. The roots were separated from the solution by a semi-permeable membrane. Nutrient solution water potential was ?0.6 × 105 Pa and was lowered stepwise to ?1 × 105, ?2 × 105, ?4 × 105 and ?6 × 105 Pa at 2-day intervals. Plant height, leaf area and shoot dry weight of high and low nitrogen plants were reduced by lower osmotic potentials of the root medium. Osmotic stress caused greater shoot growth reduction in high N than in low N plants. Stressed and unstressed plants in 7.14 × 104M N had more root dry matter than the corresponding plants in 28.6 × 104M N. Dawn leaf water potential of stressed plants was 1 × 105 to 5.5 × 105 Pa lower than nutrient solution water potential. Nitrogen-deficient water-stressed plants, however, maintained higher dawn leaf water potential than high nitrogen water-stressed plants. It is suggested that this was due to higher root-to-shoot ratios of N deficient plants. The osmotic potentials of leaves at full turgor for control plants were about 1.3 × 105 Pa higher in 7.14 × 10?4M than in 28.6 × 10?4M N and osmotic adjustment of 2.6 × 105 and 4.3 × 105 Pa was obtained in low and high N plants, respectively. The nitrogen status of plants, therefore, affected the ability of the rice plant to adjust osmotically during water stress. Plant water stress decreased transpiration and total N content in shoots of both N treatments. Reduced shoot growth as a result of water stress caused the decrease in amount of water transpired. Transpiration and N uptake were significantly correlated. Our results show that nitrogen content is reduced in water-stressed plants by the integrated effects of plant water stress per se on accumulation of dry matter and transpiring leaf area as well as the often cited changes in soil physical properties of a drying root medium.  相似文献

We examined whether long-term Cd exposure leads to beneficial changes in the cultivable endophytic bacteria present in the seeds of Agrostis capillaris. Therefore the cultivable seed endophytes of Agrostis capillaris growing on a long-term Cd/Ni-contaminated plot (Cd/Ni seeds) were compared with those originating from a non-contaminated plot (control seeds). We observed plant- and contaminant-dependent effects on the population composition between control and Cd/Ni seeds. Also differences in phenotypic characteristics were found: endophytes from Cd/Ni seeds exhibited more ACC deaminase activity and production of siderophores and IAA, while endophytes from control seeds, very surprisingly, showed more metal tolerance.

Finally, the 3 most promising seed endophytes were selected based on their metal tolerance and plant growth promoting potential, and inoculated in Agrostis capillaris seedlings. In case of non-exposed plants, inoculation resulted in a significantly improved plant growth; after inoculation of Cd-exposed plants an increased Cd uptake was achieved without affecting plant growth. This indicates that inoculation of Agrostis with its seed endophytes might be beneficial for its establishment during phytoextraction and phytostabilisation of Cd-contaminated soils.  相似文献
