Fatty acid compositions of the lipids isolated from the pinnae of four fern species show that they differ from those of the lipids in leaves of higher plants in having C-20 polyunsaturated acids, mainly arachidonic acid. As in higher plants, the ω-3 polyunsaturated acids are concentrated in the monogalactosyl diglycerides. Variations are found both in the fatty acid compositions and in the monogalactosyl/digalactosyl diglyceride ratio during the growing season.  相似文献

The relationship between lipid composition and phase transition was investigated by differential scanning calorimetry for intact and membrane phospholipid extracts of wild-type (w/t) and the cel-(Tw 40) mutant of Neurospora crassa. The cel-(Tw 40) mutant (grown on minimal, sucrose medium supplemented with Tween 40 at approximately 34 degrees C) had approximately twice the saturated fatty acid content of w/t organisms grown at approximately 22 degrees C. The gel-liquid crystal phase transitions of ergosterol-free extracts derived from w/t and cel-(Tw 40) occur at -31 and -11 degrees C, respectively. The heats of transition (delta H) of these extracts were 1 and 13 cal/g, respectively. The addition of ergosterol (the predominant sterol in Neurospora) to the phospholipid extracts decreased the observed heats of transition, but did not alter the transition temperature. Intact Neurospora, whether w/t or cal-(Tw 40) did not manifest similar gel-liquid crystal phase transitions in the differential scanning calorimeter. However, an endothermic peak at approximately 30 degrees C was observed in intact cells and extracted phospholipids of both w/t and cel-(Tw 40) organisms. This peak was insensitive to the addition of ergosterol, had a low heat content (delta H congruent to 1 cal/g), and was reversible.  相似文献

The fatty acid composition of Ehrlich ascites tumor lipids was altered markedly in vivo by changing the type of fat fed to the tumor-bearing mice. As compared with regular chow, large differences were produced in polar and neutral lipid fatty acyl groups when the tumor cells were grown in mice fed coconut oil, sunflower oil or fat deficient diets. Subcellular membrane fractions obtained from these cells exhibited similar variations in fatty acyl composition. This experimental system provides large quantities of malignant cells for study of the relationships between membrane lipid structure and function.  相似文献

In the current study, the effect of frozen storage at ?18°C was evaluated on fatty acid composition of different body parts (liver, muscle tissue, and viscera) of narrow‐barred Spanish mackerel (Scomberomorus commerson, Lacépède, 1800), longtail tuna (Thunnus tonggol, Bleeker, 1851), kawakawa (Euthynnus affinis, Cantor, 1849), king mackerel (Scomberomorus guttatus, Bloch & Schneider, 1801), and rainbow sardine (Dussumieria acuta, Valenciennes, 1847) caught in the Persian Gulf. Changes in saturated fatty acids (SFAs), monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs), polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), eicosapentaenoic acid plus docosahexaenoic acid/palmitic acid (EPA+DHA/C16), ω3 PUFA/ω6 PUFA (ω3/ω6), and polyunsaturated fatty acids/saturated fatty acids (PUFA/SFA) were investigated during a 6‐month period. A decrease in unsaturated fatty acids, particularly PUFAs (60–100%) as well as ω3/ω6, EPA+DHA/C16 (polyene index) and PUFA/SFA ratios, indicated a decrease in the nutritional values of the samples.  相似文献

1. The fatty acid composition of whole goldfish, whole-intestinal mucosa, intestinal mucosal membranes and individual phospholipids extracted from mucosal membranes were measured, fish adapted to different temperatures being used. 2. Alterations of the adaptation temperature did not noticeably affect the fatty acid composition of the whole-fish lipids, but there were marked changes in the fatty acids of lipids extracted from homogenates of goldfish intestinal mucosa. These changes were more pronounced in a membrane fraction prepared from these homogenates. Raising the adaptation temperature by 20 degrees C halved the percentage of C(20:1), C(20:4) and C(22:6) fatty acids and nearly doubled the percentage of C(18:0) and C(20:3) fatty acids recovered. 3. Choline phosphoglycerides constituted about one-half and ethanolamine phosphoglycerides about one-quarter of the total membrane phospholipids. 4. The fatty acids of choline and ethanolamine phosphoglycerides were more susceptible to temperature-dependent changes than were the phosphoglycerides of inositol or serine. 5. The increase in C(18:0) fatty acid that occurred in membranes of warm-adapted fish was greatest for ethanolamine phosphoglycerides, but increases also occurred in other phospholipid fractions and in membrane neutral lipids.  相似文献

Fatty acid composition of lipids in various organs of the bonito (Euthynnus pelamis), a typical species within the tuna species, caught in the sea off the Pacific coast of Japan, was determined by gas-liquid chromatography. The major fatty acids of all organs examined were palmitic acid (16:0), palmitoleic acid (16:1), oleic acid (18:1), icosapentaenoic acid (20:5), and docosahexaenoic acid (22:6). 22:6 (DHA) was the dominant fatty acid accounting for 25% or more of the total fatty acids in all organs of the bonito, caught in the sea off the Japanese coast.  相似文献

Fatty acid composition of the total lipids isolated from the fresh-water green alga Ulothrix aequalis shows that they resemble marine green algal lipids in having a high proportion of 16:4 ω-3 but differ in having only trace amounts of 18:4 ω-3. The distribution of ω-3 acids in the MGDG and DGDG fractions resembles that in green seaweeds and higher plants with the 16:4 ω-3 distribution in the Ulothrix fractions resemblmg that of 18:4 ω-3 in the corresponding fractions of the seaweeds.  相似文献

The fatty acid composition of the total lipid fractions of five different Leishmania organisms grown on Eagle's medium was determined by gas chromatography. The major fatty acids identified in the total lipid fractions of L. donovani, L. tropica major, L. tropica minor, L. tropica (England strain), and L. enriettii were C12:0, C13:0, C14:0, C15:0, C16:0, C17:0, C18:0, C18:1, C18:2, and C18:3. The statistical differences among the fatty acid methyl esters of different Leishmania organisms are discussed.Gas chromatographic analysis of the fatty acid methyl esters of the total lipid fractions of the original Eagle's medium and the media after harvesting of various Leishmania species revealed the presence of C18:3 fatty acid in the total lipid fraction of the medium of L. donovani and the complete absence of 18-carbon unsaturated fatty acids in the total lipid fraction of the medium of L. enriettii. The use of such differences in the differentiation of various Leishmania species is discussed.  相似文献

In order to compare the effects of different sources of dietary protein on the fatty acid composition of phosphatidylcholines (PC), phosphatidylethanolamines (PE), phosphatidylinositols (PI), cholesteryl esters and triacylglycerols, male rats were fed for a 4-week period on cholesterol-free, or cholesterol-containing, diets based on casein, or soybean protein and olive oil. The most conspicuous difference observed was the occurrence of significantly higher levels of 5,8,11-eicosatrienoic acid, 20:3 (n - 9), in the different lipid classes of casein-fed, compared with soybean protein-fed, animals. In the PI fraction of livers from the groups of rats fed casein diet, this fatty acid amounted to between 9.9 and 13.3% by weight of the total fatty acids. Phospholipids from livers of casein-fed rats contained increased levels of oleic acid, 18:1 (n - 9) (in PC and PE) and reduced levels of stearic acid (18:0). Moreover, in this group of rats PI contained a reduced level of arachidonic acid, 20:4 (n - 6). A casein-related decrease in the linoleic acid, 18:2 (n - 6), content of PC and PE was observed only in the rats fed on cholesterol-free diet. Effects on the fatty acid composition were also observed in the triacyglycerol and cholesteryl ester fractions, in which the rats fed casein diet showed higher levels of palmitoleic acid, 16:1 (n - 7) (cholesterol-supplemented diet) and lower values for linoleic acid, than the soybean protein-fed rats.  相似文献

The fatty acid composition of total cell lipids of V. albensis typing strains, serovars 01-012, isolated from patients and environmental objects, as well as V. eltor and NAG vibrios, has been studied. Fatty acids contain 14-18 carbon atoms and are mainly represented by unsaturated monoacids. Palmitoleic and oleic acids constitute the greater part of unsaturated acids (their total content is 55.2-71.0%). The level of saturated fatty acids in considerably lower (27.0-43.1%), and these acids are mainly represented by palmitic acid, its maximum level being 28.4%. The similarity of the fatty acid profiles of the lipids common to the strains under study may indicate that these strains are phylogenetically related.  相似文献
