Under present climate conditions, Ips typographus (L.) is Europe's most critical disturbance agent for mature Norway spruce (Picea abies). With ongoing climate change, the bark beetle will most probably become more prominent as a pest. The aim of this study was to analyse the dispersal performance of I. typographus under various weather conditions, especially hot days with a maximum air temperature above 30°C. In a field study, marked bark beetles were released from breeding logs and could be retraced in traps distributed across the survey area. With daily collections of the trapped beetles, it was possible to analyse the flight activity and the average flight distance of the bark beetles during hot, moderate and cool days. The numbers of daily catches and the average flight distance during the hottest days (air temperature maximum ≥30°C) did not significantly differ from the moderate days (air temperature maximum ≥22°C and <30°C). The numbers of daily catches and the average flight distance during the cool days (air temperature maximum <22°C) were significantly lower than during hot and moderate days. The results give an insight on the dispersal capacity of I. typographus under climate change driven future conditions. Increased air temperatures do not seem to impair the flight performance of I. typographus. A small proportion of cool days during the swarming period even seems to favour dispersal of I. typographus.  相似文献

A simple heat alert system, based solely on predicted maximum and minimum daily temperatures, has been developed for the city of Melbourne in southeast Australia. The system is based upon a demonstration that, when mean daily temperature exceeds a threshold of 30°C (mean of today’s maximum temperature and tonight’s minimum temperature), the average daily mortality of people aged 65 years or more is about 15–17% greater than usual. Similar numbers of excess deaths also occur when daily minimum temperatures exceed 24°C (increases of 19–21% over expected death rate), so a heat alert system based solely on this widely available weather forecast variable is also feasible. No strong signal of excess heat-related deaths appears when the data are stratified using daily maximum temperatures. This may be because in Melbourne some days with very high maximum temperatures will be affected by the passage of cool changes and cold fronts in the afternoon, leading to a rapid drop in temperature (i.e., some days with high maximum temperatures will not continue to be hot throughout the day and into the evening). A single day with temperatures exceeding the thresholds noted above is sufficient to cause this increase in mortality, rather than requiring an extended heat wave. The increased daily mortality does not appear to represent a short-term advancement of mortality.  相似文献

The study and interpretation of temporal variability in mortality requires the consideration of both exogenous and endogenous influences as underlying factors. In the present paper the relative contribution of fluctuations in daily weather was investigated using the unbiased techniques of lagged cross-correlation and spectral analyses. The study focused on patterns of daily mortality in Kyoto, Japan. Studied herein were total mortality of all ages less accidental, ischemic heart (IHD), cerebrovascular (CVD), cardiovascular (IHD + CVD), cancer and among elderly (over 70 years of age) deaths. The meteorological factors were mean, maximum and minimum daily temperature, mean barometric pressure, mean relative humidity, and mean and maximum wind speed. It was found that after extreme weather conditions, such as heat waves (with mean air temperature in excess of 30°C) or the intrusion of cold waves (with mean air temperature below 0°C), mortality increased to about three times the daily average with a lag effect of usually one—three days and up to one week. Over the year, however, weather fluctuations were found to account statistically for no more than 10% of the overall annual variability in mortality. Importantly, the short-term upswings in mortality were usually accompanied by noticeable drops in the number of deaths on the subsequent days suggesting a triggering effect of external factors. Movements of five Kinixys spekii were measured continuously during six weeks of their activity season, by thread-trailing. The mean daily movement distance was negatively correlated with maximum shade air temperature, but not significantly related to minimum temperature, rainfall, or humidity. There was a midday period of inactivity of increasing length as maximum air temperature exceeded 29° C. Temperatures of models suggest that lower activity on hot days was due to the risk of overheating in this small (mean mass 617 g) tortoise. Kinixys spekii had a mean field body temperature (Tb) of 27° C, which is low compared to other tortoises (including sympatric Geochelone pardulis, mean Tb= 32.5° C), but salivated at a similar Tb (38.4° C). This pattern also occurs in other small species; mean and maximum field Tbs of tortoises are positively correlated with body mass, but salivation and critical maximum Tbs do not vary with body mass. Low field Tb provides a wide safety margin before evaporation of water becomes necessary. Kinixys sprkii had a short annual activity period, with about 95% of sightings in four months (December to March). Monthly sightings of K. spekii were correlated with rainfall, but not significantly related to temperature or humidity. Seasonal activity is therefore related to rainfall, but within the rainy season the level and pattern of daily activity is related to temperature.  相似文献

目的研究补光对灰仓鼠(Cricetulus migratorus)越冬时脏器器官的影响。方法室温下将其分为自然光照组和补充光照组,分别在第0、30、48和150天时测定动物的体重和脏器器官的重量,应用涂片法检查精子的数量。结果自然光照时,精子数量在冬至时变化不大,但冬至后第18天,灰仓鼠的睾丸系数降到最低值,精子数量仅为422枚,第150天时恢复到正常繁殖状态,精子数量达到7440枚。其他脏器指数在冬至时最高,第150天时最低。补充光照后,雌雄鼠体重高峰值时间均比自然光照组提前100 d,各器官指数变化与体重变化情况相类似,但睾丸和子宫系数维持稳定,精子数量未发现减少。结论在自然光照时越冬灰仓鼠的脏器指数逐渐下降,第150天时脏器指数达至最高值,睾丸指数在冬至后第18天下降到最低值,处于非繁殖状态。补充光照后,越冬灰仓鼠的精子数量和子宫指数变化不大,一直维持繁殖状态。  相似文献

Based on the meteorological data over a period of 4 years (1980–3), the macro-environment of BenCat Farm situated in the southern part of Vietnam (27 m above mean sea-level, 11° N and 106° E) was categorized as a “monsoon tropical climate”, due to heavy rainfall (annual mean 2028.96 mm) and about 32% wet days (annual mean 116.52 days) together with high air temperature (annual mean daily temperature 28.58, max. 32.33 and min 24.85° C). April was the hottest (monthly mean >35°C) and January the coldest month (monthly mean <22° C) of the year. The maximum number of wet days were during September and October (mean 18 days.month), whereas the minimum number of wet days were during January and February (mean <1 day/month). The months of December and January at Ben-Cat buffalo farm were categorized as the “comfortable (moderate-Dry) period” as the mean daily temperature was <27° C, while the remaining 10 months of the Calender year (February–November) were categorized as the “hot period” (mean daily temperature >27° C). On the basis of rainfall and the number of wet days, the hot period was further subdivided into a “hot-dry period” (February–April, mean of 1.67 wet days/month and mean rainfall 19.43 mm/month) and a “hot-humid period” (May–November, mean of 15.57 wet days/month and mean rainfall 276.28 mm/month).  相似文献

The objectives were to evaluate factors affecting reproductive performance of dairy heifers. Holstein heifers (6389) were housed in a feed lot located in Parma, ID. Each week heifers weighing > or =290 kg were initiated in the reproductive program, which consisted of one injection of PGF(2alpha) and AI on detection of estrus. Heifers not inseminated by 11 days after the initiation of the breeding program received a second injection of PGF(2alpha). Pregnancy was diagnosed at 40+/-3 and 90+/-3 days after AI. Average daily minimum temperature (ADMnT), average daily maximum temperature (ADMxT), and average daily rainfall (ARF) were recorded between 15 days prior to and 15 days after the day of AI or the day of initiation of the breeding program. Exposure to air temperature was classified as: cold stress (CS=ADMnT< or =4 degrees C), no stress (NS=ADMnT>4 degrees C and ADMxT<29 degrees C), and heat stress (HS=ADMxT> or =29 degrees C). Exposure to rainfall was classified as above (HRF) or below (LRF) the mean for the period in question. Heifers were classified according to body weight at initiation of the breeding program as thin (TH<340 kg); moderate (MD=340-365 kg); and heavy (HY>365 kg). Service sire was associated with conception rate at 40 and 90 days after first AI. Although exposure to air temperature was not correlated with conception rate at 40 days after first AI, heifers exposed to cold stress had smaller conception rates at 90 days after first AI because they were more likely to lose pregnancy between 40 and 90 days of gestation. The proportion of heifers inseminated after initiation of the breeding program was correlated with body weight and exposure to cold stress. Exposure to cold stress was also correlated with the proportion of heifers conceiving within 11 and 22 days after initiation of the breeding program. From this study a correlation was established between body weight and rate of insemination and between the exposure to cold stress and reproductive efficiency of Holstein heifers.  相似文献

Diurnal fluctuations of heart rate (HR), body temperature (BT) and locomotor activity (LA) in the unanaesthetized and unrestrained house musk shrew (Suncus murinus) were studied using a telemetry system. Six adult male shrews (Jic:SUN) weighing 60-70 g were used in the present study. They were housed under conditions of 24 C and a 12/12-hr light-dark cycle. HR, BT and LA were recorded over 10 days, following the post-implantation period (10 days or more) of the telemetric transmitter. A clear nocturnal rhythm of LA was shown, while intermittent and short-term LA were shown during the light period. The mean HR was 323.5 +/- 8.8 bpm in the light period and 354.3 +/- 5.2 bpm in the dark period, and the fluctuation of HR showed a nocturnal pattern. A nocturnal pattern was also observed in BT fluctuation, and all animals lowered their body temperature from 35-37 C to approximately 30 C or below, mostly during the light period. The fall of body temperature progressed over 2-3 hr, and then rose to the baseline temperature rapidly within approximately 30 min. While the body temperature fell, HR markedly decreased to approximately 100 bpm. These results suggest that the shrew has unique physiological properties in maintaining metabolic balance which are anticipated to be caused by the dramatic alteration of the autonomic nervous function.  相似文献

This study presents an analysis of temperature and precipitation trends and their impact on grape harvests in the Penedès region (NE Spain). It includes analyses of maximum, minimum and mean daily temperatures (for both the growing and ripening seasons) and daily rainfall (for the hydrological year, the growing season and each phenological stage) for three observatories in the immediate area. We analysed a series of factors: beginning and end harvest dates; the day on which a given potential alcoholic degree was reached; and yield for several varieties of grape grown in the area in relation to climatic variables. Maximum temperatures increased at all the observatories, with greater values being recorded in recent years (1996–2009) than in previous decades (1960s–2000s): we observed increases in average growing season temperatures of 0.11°C per year for the period 1996–2009 vs 0.04°C per year for the period 1960–2009 at Vilafranca del Penedès. These temperature changes were due mainly to increases in maximum temperatures and an increase in the incidence of extreme heat (number of days with T > 30°C). Crop evapotranspiration also increased significantly during the same period. The Winkler index also increased, so the study area would correspond to region IV according to that climatic classification. There were no significant trends in annual rainfall but rainfall recorded between bloom and veraison decreased significantly at the three observatories, with the greatest decrease corresponding to the period 1996–2009. The dates on which harvests started and ended showed a continuous advance (of between −0.7 and −1.1 days per year, depending on the variety), which was significantly correlated with the average mean and maximum daily growing season temperatures (up to −7.68 days for 1°C increase). Winegrape yield was influenced by the estimated water deficit (crop evapotranspiration minus precipitation) in the bloom-veraison period; this value increased due to a reduction in precipitation and an increase in evapotranspiration. Yield may have been reduced by up to 30 kg/ha for each millimetre increase in the estimated water deficit. Under these conditions, new strategies need to be followed in this area in order to maintain grape quality and yield.  相似文献

以华北平原冬小麦农田为研究对象,采用涡度相关技术和热红外遥感技术,研究了不同环境条件下土壤含水量与农田蒸散量及作物冠层温度的关系.结果表明,冬小麦在农田郁闭(LAI≥3)、晴天和土壤相对含水量低于田间持水量65%的情况下,蒸发比值日变化正午前后出现相对较低且平稳的变化趋势.在晴天情况下,农田潜热通量与作物冠层温度日变化和季节变化均呈极显著的非线性相关关系,而冠气温差、农田相对蒸散量则与0~100 cm土层的土壤相对含水量密切相关.以13:30~14:00的平均冠层温度值Tc、日最高气温Ta max和日净辐射总量Rnd为统计数据,确立了冬小麦农田日蒸散量ETd (mm)估算简化模式参数.  相似文献

In order to facilitate interpretation and comparison of warming effects on ecosystems across various habitats, it is imperative to quantify changes in microclimate induced by warming facilities. This paper reports observed changes in air temperature, soil temperature and soil‐moisture content under experimental warming and clipping in a tallgrass prairie in the Great Plains, USA. We used a factorial design with warming as the primary factor nested with clipping as the secondary factor. Infrared heater was used in order to simulate climatic warming and clipping to mimic mowing for hay or grazing. The warming treatment significantly increased daily mean and minimum air temperatures by 1.1 and 2.3 °C, respectively, but had no effect on daily maximum air temperature, resulting in reduced diurnal air‐temperature range. Infrared heaters substantially increased daily maximum (2.5 and 3.5 °C), mean (2.0 and 2.6 °C) and minimum (1.8 and 2.1 °C) soil temperatures in both the unclipped and clipped subplots. Clipping also significantly increased daily maximum (3.4 and 4.3 °C) and mean (0.6 and 1.2 °C) soil temperatures, but decreased daily minimum soil temperature (1.0 and 0.6 °C in the control and warmed plots, respectively). Daily maximum, mean and minimum soil temperatures in the clipped, warmed subplots were 6.8, 3.2 and 1.1 °C higher than those in the unclipped, control subplots. Infrared heaters caused a reduction of 11.0% in soil moisture in the clipped subplots, but not in the unclipped subplots. Clipping reduced soil‐moisture content by 17.7 and 22.7% in the control and warmed plots, respectively. Experimental warming and clipping interacted to exacerbate soil‐moisture loss (26.7%). Overall, infrared heaters simulated climate warming well by enhancing downward infrared radiation and by reducing the diurnal air‐temperature range.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

We performed large-scale analyses of circadian and infradian cycles of human body temperature, focusing on changes over the day, week, and year. Temperatures (n= 93,225) were collected using temporal artery thermometers from a Boston emergency department during 2009–2012 and were statistically analyzed using regression with cyclic splines. The overall mean body temperature was 36.7°C (98.1°F), with a 95% confidence interval of 36.7–36.7°C (98.1–98.1°F) and a standard deviation of 0.6°C (1.1°F). Over the day, mean body temperature followed a steady cycle, reaching its minimum at 6:00–8:00 and its maximum at 18:00–20:00. Across days of the week, this diurnal cycle was essentially unchanged, even though activities and sleeping hours change substantially during the weekly cycles of human behavior. Over the year, body temperatures were slightly colder in winter than summer (~0.2°C difference), consistent with most prior studies. We propose these seasonal differences might be due to ambient effects on body temperature that are not eliminated because they fall within the tolerance range of the thermoregulatory system. Over the year, bathyphase (daily time of minimum temperature) appeared to parallel sunrise times, as expected from sunrise’s zeitgeber role in circadian rhythms. However, orthophase (daily time of maximum temperature) and sunset times followed opposite seasonal patterns, with orthophase preceding nightfall in summer and following nightfall in winter. Throughout the year, bathyphase and orthophase remained separated by approximately 12 h, suggesting this interval might be conserved. Finally, although 37.0°C (98.6°F) is widely recognized as the mean or normal human body temperature, analysis showed mean temperature was <37.0°C during all times of day, days of the week, and seasons of the year, supporting prior arguments that the 37.0°C standard has no scientific basis. Overall, this large study showed robust and consistent behavior of the human circadian cycle at the population level, providing a strong example of circadian homeostasis.  相似文献

A variety of studies have documented the dangerously high temperatures that may occur within the passenger compartment (cabin) of cars under clear sky conditions, even at relatively low ambient air temperatures. Our study, however, is the first to examine cabin temperatures under variable weather conditions. It uses a unique maximum vehicle cabin temperature dataset in conjunction with directly comparable ambient air temperature, solar radiation, and cloud cover data collected from April through August 2007 in Athens, GA. Maximum cabin temperatures, ranging from 41–76°C, varied considerably depending on the weather conditions and the time of year. Clear days had the highest cabin temperatures, with average values of 68°C in the summer and 61°C in the spring. Cloudy days in both the spring and summer were on average approximately 10°C cooler. Our findings indicate that even on cloudy days with lower ambient air temperatures, vehicle cabin temperatures may reach deadly levels. Additionally, two predictive models of maximum daily vehicle cabin temperatures were developed using commonly available meteorological data. One model uses maximum ambient air temperature and average daily solar radiation while the other uses cloud cover percentage as a surrogate for solar radiation. From these models, two maximum vehicle cabin temperature indices were developed to assess the level of danger. The models and indices may be useful for forecasting hazardous conditions, promoting public awareness, and to estimate past cabin temperatures for use in forensic analyses.  相似文献

根据1982~1992年和2001~2002年上海奉贤地区每年3月~6月灯诱捕蚊的现场调查数据,采取相关对比分析、统计分析、天气图分析法,探讨三带喙库蚊春季首次出现、季节分布及其与气象条件的关系。结果表明,三带喙库蚊季节分布按蚊虫密度变化划分为首次出现期、季节增多期和混合发生期三个时期。三带喙库蚊春季首次出现的温度条件是:首现日当天和前1天的日平均气温均≥11.0℃,其2天的日平均气温累加值≥25.5℃,或首现日当天、前2天和后1天任意连续3天的日平均气温均≥11.0℃,其3天的日平均气温累加值≥34.0℃,结果三带喙库蚊春季首现日和首现日温度日期的差异在1~2天内(91.7%)。三带喙库蚊季节增多期其逐候蚊虫密度(Y1)与平均气温(X1)呈显著的正相关,用一元回归方程表示为:Y1=-9.3534+0.7217X1;至候平均气温≥18℃(平均始日为5月3日)进入三带喙库蚊混合发生期。总体上三带喙库蚊蚊虫密度季节分布与平均气温、“S”系风向变化存在密切关系。首次出现期至季节增多期三带喙库蚊突增日与锋面天气活动存在着较大的关联,候平均气温≥18℃是三带喙库蚊大量发生和进入峰期重要的温度指标。上述结果提示上海地区三带喙库蚊春季和初夏随气流北迁降落的可能性相当大。  相似文献

Oviposition and fecundity in the grain miteAcarus siro were studied at 5–30°C and 62.5–90% RH. At and above 20°C, 80% RH, mating and oviposition occurred soon after emergence, but at lower temperatures and humidities egg laying was progressively delayed from one to several days. Females needed to mate repeatedly in order to achieve maximum egg production, optimum conditions for which were 15°C, 90% RH, where total output per female averaged 435 with a maximum of 858. Oviposition rates were highest at higher temperatures, the mean daily rate at 20 and 25°C, 90% RH, rising to maximum levels of 28/29 eggs per female per day on day six.Oviposition followed clearly defined patterns, favourable conditions producing rapid increases in the mean daily oviposition rate to high peak levels reached at an early stage in the oviposition period. Less favourable conditions resulted in reduced outputs and lower, more uniform rates of egg laying. The mean oviposition period, varying with humidity, fell from 72–122 days at 5°C to 9–13 days at 30°C and the mean incubation period from 42–70 days at 5°C to 3–4 days at 30°C. Egg viability increased with increasing humidity but was little affected by temperature and unaffected by age of the female at time of oviposition.Males tended to live longer than females at most conditions; longevity—depending on humidity—averaging 13–15 days at 30°C and 129–175 days at 5°C. Adult life for females averaged 12–19 days at 30°C and 88–169 days at 5°C. An index of suitability, calculated from egg number, viability and duration of the egg stage and oviposition period, indicated that the most favourable conditions for oviposition and hatching were 20–25°C and 80–90% RH.  相似文献

2002~2003年在南京、安阳、保定和石河子4地用"异地分期种植比较法"研究了气温及日照条件与棉花纤维品质的关系.结果表明,随纬度升高,由中熟棉区向北疆早熟棉区推移过程中,纤维加长,比强度下降,麦克隆值降低,可溶性糖含量增加.在建立棉花纤维比强度、麦克隆值和可溶性糖含量与温度和日照时数的生态模型的基础上,确定了棉铃发育期适宜温度范围或临界值.若以获得长度≥27 mm的优质纤维为先决条件,则分别以铃期日均温21.3~29.7℃、最低气温10.7~21.3℃、最大日温差不超过15.2℃为宜,日均温为25.4℃时,纤维最长;若以获得具有国际竞争优势的最低纤维长度(≥25 mm)为先决条件,则分别以铃期日均温不低于15.5℃、最低气温不低于10.7℃、最大日温差不超过17.9℃为宜.  相似文献

基于1961-2014年156个地面气象站日尺度的气温数据集,利用趋势分析、小波分析、Mann-Kendall检验、累积距平、Pettitt检验、主成分分析等方法分析了中国沿海地区极端气温事件的时空变化特征。结果表明:中国沿海及各子区域极端气温暖指数呈上升趋势,冷指数和气温日较差呈下降趋势,夜指数的年际倾向率明显大于昼指数的年际倾向率;除相对指数、极高值指数和冷(暖)持续日数的多年均值在各子区域之间相差不大以外,霜冻日数、冰冻日数以及气温日较差的多年均值从北至南依次递减,与之相反,夏季日数、热夜日数、极端气温极低值指数以及生长季长度的多年均值则从北至南依次增加。各子区域极端气温指数年际间的主周期介于2-8 a,均无显著的年代际震荡周期;各子区域极端气温指数的突变主要发生在1980s和1990s期间,冷指数和极低值指数的突变时间稍早于暖指数和极高值指数的突变时间,突变后,极端暖事件和气温的极值事件进入多发阶段,极端冷事件进入相对少发的阶段;主成分分析中第一主成分高载荷的极端气温指数对日均气温和日最高(低)气温均有较好的指示性,这类极端指数两两之间的相关性也较强,低载荷的极端气温指数对日均气温和日最高(低)气温的指示性相对较弱,与其他极端气温指数之间的相关性也均较弱。  相似文献

Synthesis efforts that identify patterns of ecosystem response to a suite of warming manipulations can make important contributions to climate change science. However, cross‐study comparisons are impeded by the paucity of detailed analyses of how passive warming and other manipulations affect microclimate. Here we document the independent and combined effects of a common passive warming manipulation, open‐top chambers (OTCs), and a simulated widespread land use, clipping, on microclimate on the Tibetan Plateau. OTCs consistently elevated growing season averaged mean daily air temperature by 1.0–2.0°C, maximum daily air temperature by 2.1–7.3°C and the diurnal air temperature range by 1.9–6.5°C, with mixed effects on minimum daily air temperature, and mean daily soil temperature and moisture. These OTC effects on microclimate differ from reported effects of a common active warming method, infrared heating, which has more consistent effects on soil than on air temperature. There were significant interannual and intragrowing season differences in OTC effects on microclimate. For example, while OTCs had mixed effects on growing season averaged soil temperatures, OTCs consistently elevated soil temperature by approximately 1.0°C early in the growing season. Nonadditive interactions between OTCs and clipping were also present: OTCs in clipped plots generally elevated air and soil temperatures more than OTCs in nonclipped plots. Moreover, site factors dynamically interacted with microclimate and with the efficacy of the OTC manipulations. These findings highlight the need to understand differential microclimate effects between warming methods, within warming method across ecosystem sites, within warming method crossed with other treatments, and within sites over various timescales. Methods, sites and scales are potential explanatory variables and covariables in climate warming experiments. Consideration of this variability among and between experimental warming studies will lead to greater understanding and better prediction of ecosystem response to anthropogenic climate warming.  相似文献

The patterns of heterothermy were measured in Lesser Hedgehog Tenrecs, Echinops telfairi, under semi-natural conditions in an outdoor enclosure during the austral mid-winter in southwestern Madagascar. The animals were implanted with miniaturized body temperature (Tb) loggers (iButtons) that measured body temperature every 42 min for 2 months (May and June). The tenrecs entered daily torpor on all 60 consecutive days of measurement, that is, on 100% of animal days, with body temperature closely tracking ambient temperature (Ta) during the ambient heating phase. The mean minimum daily Tb of the tenrecs was 18.44 +/- 0.50 degrees C (n = 174, N = 3), and never exceeded 25 degrees C whereas, apart from a few hibernation bouts in one animal, the mean maximum daily Tb was 30.73 +/- 0.15 degrees C (n = 167, N = 3). Thus during winter, tenrecs display the lowest normothermic Tb of all placental mammals. E. telfairi showed afternoon and early evening arousals, but entered torpor before midnight and remained in torpor for 12-18 h each day. One animal hibernated on two occasions for periods of 2-4 days. We consider E. telfairi to be a protoendotherm, and discuss the relevance and potential of these data for testing models on the evolution of endothermy.  相似文献
