The action of mutations affecting the epicuticular wax of Pisum sativum has been investigated at the chemical and ultrastructural level. Upper and lower surfaces of the leaves were found to differ markedly in both ultrastructure and chemistry. Mutations affected primarily either the lower (wa, wb and wsp) or the upper surface (wlo), but some effects of all 4 genes could be seen on both surfaces. Specific biochemical lesions could be implied for wsp and wa but the chemical effects of wb and wlo were more diffuse. Generally a close relation between chemical composition and crystallite form of the wax was evident throughout the work.  相似文献

The epicuticular wax in three lines of Brassica napus (rape) has been investigated and the detailed chemistry and ultrastructure of the waxes examined. A distinct chemical make-up has been found for all three waxes which is correlated with three distinct crystallite structures. A tentative scheme for classification of Brassica wax mutants is described in which the two newly analysed rape mutants can be placed. Mass spectral analysis of all wax components confirms and extends previous ideas about the chemistry of Brassica waxes.  相似文献

Leaf galls induced by Aceria lantanae occur in distinct populations of Lantana camara, exclusively on individuals with red flowers. Anatomical, histochemical and phytochemical analyses of leaves were performed to determine characteristics related to host selection among individuals with red (RF), pink (PF) and white flowers (WF). The host plants (RF) presented amphistomatic leaves, higher stomatal index value, and non-glandular trichomes significantly longer and less dense when compared to non host plants. Morphological features of RF indicated a more propitious micro-habitat for A. lantanae, with physical protection against its natural enemies. The monoterpenes limonene and eucalyptol, and the sesquiterpene α-caryophyllene were detected only in non host plants. These differences in volatiles composition might be related to the selection of RF as host plants, and chemical repellence in PF and WF. Our analysis revealed intra-specific morphological and chemical variations possibly related to host selection by A. lantanae.  相似文献

The mosses Andreaea rupestris, Pogonatum aloides and P. urnigerum contain surface waxes in amounts of 0.05–0.12% dry wt. The waxes consisted of esters (C38-C54), primary alcohols (C20-C32), free fatty acids (C16-C30), and alkanes (C21-C31). Additionally, aldehydes (C22-C30) were major constituents in the wax of P. urnigerum. The classes and their chain length distributions in the surface waxes of these mosses are comparable to those of epicuticular waxes of higher plants.  相似文献

The plant gum isolated from sap of the lac tree, Rhus vernicifera (China), was separated into two fractions having mol. wt. 84,000 and 27,700 by aqueous-phase gel-permeation chromatography. The fractions contain d-galactose (65 mol%), 4-O-methyl-d-glucuronic acid (24 mol%), d-glucuronic acid (3 mol%), l-arabinose (4 mol%), and l-rhamnose (3 mol%). Smith degradation of the carboxyl-reduced polysaccharides gives products of halved molecular weight, and these consist of a β-(1→3)-linked galactopyranan main chain and side chains made up of galactopyranose residues. Peripheral groups, such as α-d-Galp-, α-d-Galp-(1→6)-β-d-Galp-, 4-O-methyl-β-d-GlcpA-, and 4-O-methyl-β-d-GlcpA-(1→6)-β-d-Galp-, are attached to this interior core through β-(1→3)- or β-(1→6)-linkages.  相似文献

While surveying chytrid diversity in lakes and streams, we found on cellulosic bait a chytrid that had both monocentric and polycentric thallus forms. We brought this chytrid into axenic culture from three sites in eastern North America, studied its thallus development and zoospore ultrastructure, and compared its 28S rDNA sequence with those of other members of the Chytridiomycota. Thallus morphology matched that described for the rare chytrid, Cladochytrium polystomum Zopf. Sporangia were spherical and produced numerous long discharge tubes. After discharge, zoospores remained in spherical clusters at the tips of the inoperculate openings of discharge tubes. After 10–30 min zoospores either swam away or encysted in place. Zoospore ultrastructural features included a cell coat, flagellar plug, and paracrystalline inclusion, features typical of members of the Chytridiales. However, the flagellar apparatus structure and organellar organization differed from that of zoospores previously described. Based on its molecular phylogeny and its zoospore ultrastructural features, we classify C. polystomum as a member of the Chytridiaceae in the Chytridiales. Because its thallus development and its ribosomal DNA sequences diverged decidedly from those of Cladochytrium tenue Nowak, the type species of Cladochytrium, we erected Zopfochytrium as a new genus for this chytrid.  相似文献

A new type of Cu(II) epr signals have been produced in native and type 2 copper depleted Rhus vernicifera laccase. They are shown to originate from one of the type 3 copper ions that are epr silent in the resting enzyme. The new epr signals show high rhombicity in g tensor and are similar to those observed in other proteins, such as superoxide dismutase and half-met hemocyanin. The half-reduced type 3 copper pair is formed by reduction with an electron from type 1 Cu(I) but only after a reoxidation of the copper pair, either by peroxide or dioxygen. It is suggested that the half-reduction of the type 3 copper pair only occurs in molecules where type 2 copper ion is either reduced or absent.  相似文献

An inducible antifungal compound in grapevine leaves (Vitis vinifera L., cv Cabernet-Sauvignon) has been identified as trans-pterostilbene (3,5-dimethoxy-4′-hydroxy stilbene). It is only a minor component of the phytoalexin response of V. vinifera but its antifungal activity is relatively high by comparison with resveratrol and the viniferins, stress metabolites which have been identified previously in grapevine. Methods for the quantitative analysis of pterostilbene, resveratrol, ε- and α-viniferins by HPLC are described.  相似文献

以野生型拟南芥与蜡质突变体cer1、cer4为试验材料,通过研究核盘菌胁迫对拟南芥茎表皮蜡质结构及组分含量的影响,揭示核盘菌侵染与表皮蜡质的关系。扫描电镜结果显示,野生型拟南芥蜡质晶体以垂直于表面的杆状、块状结构为主;突变体cer1晶体类型以水平的松针状、块状结构为主;突变体cer4蜡质晶体以垂直片层结构为主。核盘菌胁迫下,拟南芥蜡质晶体结构及分布形态发生变化。蜡质层结构在核盘菌胁迫下表现为:杆状、松针状蜡质晶体减少—蜡质晶体熔融—表皮"囊状凸起"—表皮膜层破裂。这些结构变化有利于病菌突破角质层屏障而侵入到植株体内。色质谱分析结果显示:与野生型相比,cer1突变体烷、次级醇、酮类显著减少;cer4突变体表现为一级醇含量减少。接种核盘菌后,野生型拟南芥与蜡质突变体一级醇类显著增加(cer1增加不显著);烷类、次级醇类、酮类含量与蜡质总量均显著减少,表明蜡质前体物质在受到核盘菌胁迫后更多地通过酰基还原途径生成一级醇,从而减少了由脱羰基途径所生成的蜡质组分。核盘菌通过改变表皮蜡质晶体结构与化学组分分泌量来促进侵染。  相似文献

通过温室栽培和接种实验,以接种角倍蚜形成虫瘿的盐肤木和未接种角倍蚜的盐肤木为实验材料,测定和分析虫瘿对盐肤木光合特性和不同组织氮含量的影响。结果表明虫瘿对盐肤木的光合作用形成扰动,与对照植株相比较:(1)有虫瘿复叶的最大净光合速率升高,其中虫瘿初期、中期和后期分别升高14.49%、32.17%和42.01%;虫瘿还引起无虫瘿复叶最大净光合速率升高,但中期以后下降到正常水平;(2)虫瘿中期有虫瘿复叶的光饱和点升高、无虫瘿复叶光饱合点下降;虫瘿初期和中期有虫瘿复叶的光补偿点升高、无虫瘿复叶光补偿点下降;(3)虫瘿初期引起有虫瘿复叶及邻近无虫瘿复叶暗呼吸速率升高,但中期和后期影响不显著。虫瘿对盐肤木光合作用的扰动程度与小叶的位置和虫瘿生长时期密切相关。同时,虫瘿改变了盐肤木叶片氮含量分布,其中虫瘿外壁、有虫瘿复叶和无虫瘿复叶的氮含量分别为1.13%、1.98%和2.14%,这可能是营养物质从无虫瘿复叶流向有虫瘿复叶,并最终流向虫瘿,满足虫瘿和瘿内蚜虫生长需求的原因。  相似文献

Epicuticular wax isolated from the cotyledons and primary needles of 10-week-old Pinus radiata seedlings is similar in composition and contains 86% neutral compounds, viz. alkyl esters (25%, C24–C64), nonacosan-10-ol (52%), heptacosane-5,10-diol (2%), nonacosane-4,10-diol, nonacosane-5,10-diol, and nonacosane-10,13-diol (total 12%) and estolides, MW ca 800 (2%), MW ca 1100 (6%), and MW ca 1500 (1%). The acidic fraction (14%) contains n-acids (78%, C12–C32) and diterpene acids (22%, mainly abieta-8,11,13-trien-18-oic, with lesser amounts of pimara-8(14),15-dien-18-oic, isopimara-7,15-dien-18-oic and hydroxylated aromatic, diene and mono-ene acids). Wax isolated from primary needles of 1-yr-old seedlings had a similar neutral fraction composition, but the acidic fraction contained predominantly the diterpene acid mixture, with only trace amounts of n-acids. The wax from 1-yr-old secondary, needles from P. radiata forest trees aged 5 yr and 40 yr contained an acid fraction (12% 5 yr, 17% 40 yr trees) comprising the diterpene acid mixture, with trace amounts of n-acids together with ω-hydroxy acids (C12, C14 and C16). The neutral fraction from both young and old trees had a similar composition containing alkyl esters (7%, C24–C66), estolides (90%, MW 566-ca 1500), nonacosan-10-ol (2%) and the heptacosane and nonacosane diols (1%). During growth and maturation of P. radiata, the nonacosan-10-ol content of the needle wax decreases while the proportion of estolides and diterpene acids increases, the latter probably being located around the stomatal pore.  相似文献

The genus Hebeloma has a number of species highly specific to Cistus and others that occur with several host genera. This paper discusses the species of Hebeloma that appear to be ectomycorrhizal with Cistus, judging from their occurrence when Cistus is the only available host. The previously unknown species H. plesiocistum spec. nov. is described. We also provide a key to the known Hebeloma associates of Cistus. Molecular analyses based on ITS sequence data further illustrate the distinctness of the newly described species and difficulties in the species delimitation with view to H. erumpens. Specific associations with Cistus may have evolved more than once within the genus Hebeloma.  相似文献

The seasonal variations in the amounts of C6-volatile components cis-3-hexenal trans-2-hexenal n-hexanal) and their precursors (linoleic and linolenic acid) in homogenates of Thea sinensis leaves were quantitatively analyzed throughout the year. Formation of trans-2-hexenal began in the middle of April and reached a maximum during July. Towards autumn the aldehyde gradually decreased and, in winter (December to March), was virtually absent. The levels of cis-3-hexenol remained constant during May–December. cis-3-Hexenal showed a similar variation pattern to that of trans-2-hexenal. The major fatty acids in the leaves were palmitic, palmitoleic, oleic, linoleic and linolenic acid, and occurred in non-ionic lipids and phospholipid fractions. The amounts of linoleic and linolenic acid did not show any marked variation except for a big peak in October.  相似文献

Low levels of vitamin D are implicated as a potential risk factor for prostate cancer, and the vitamin D receptor (VDR) gene may be important in the onset and progression of prostate cancer. In this study, sequence variants in the VDR gene were investigated in a Korean study cohort to determine whether they are associated with prostate cancer risk. We evaluated the association between 47 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the VDR gene and prostate cancer risk as well as clinical characteristics (prostate-specific antigen level, clinical stage, pathological stage and Gleason score) in Korean men (272 prostate cancer patients and 173 benign prostatic hyperplasia patient who underwent a prostate biopsy, which was negative for malignancy) using unconditional logistic regression. The statistical analysis suggested that two VDR sequence variants (rs2408876 and rs2239182) had a significant association with prostate cancer risk (odds ratio [OR]. 1.41; p = 0.03; OR, 0.73; p = 0.05, respectively). Logistic analyses of the VDR polymorphisms with several prostate cancer related factors showed that several SNPs were significant; nine SNPs to PSA level, three to clinical stage, two to pathological stage, and three SNPs to the Gleason score. The results suggest that some VDR gene polymorphisms in Korean men might not only be associated with prostate cancer risk but also significantly related to prostate cancer-related risk factors such as PSA level, tumor stage, and Gleason score. However, current limitation for small cohort with not-healthy control group might have false positive effects; therefore it should be overcome via further large-scale validating studies.  相似文献

Epicuticular and intracuticular waxes from both adaxial and abaxial surfaces of the leaves of Kalanchoe daigremontiana were analyzed. All wax mixtures were found to contain approximately equal amounts of triterpenoids and very long chain fatty acid (VLCFA) derivatives. The triterpenoid fraction consisted of glutinol (8-19% of the total wax) and friedelin (4-9%), together with smaller amounts of glutanol, glutinol acetate, epifriedelanol, germanicol and β-amyrin. The VLCFA derivatives comprised C27-C35 alkanes (19-37% of the total wax), C32-C34 aldehydes (3-7%), C32 and C34 fatty acids (0.2-3%), C26-C36 primary alcohols (4-8%), and C42-C52 alkyl esters (2-9%). The wax layers were found to differ in triterpenoid amounts, with the intracuticular wax containing higher percentages of most triterpenoids than the epicuticular wax. Friedelin, the only triterpenoid ketone present, showed the opposite distribution with higher proportions in the epicuticular wax. VLCFA derivatives also accumulated to higher percentages in the epicuticular than in the intracuticular wax layer. The composition of the epicuticular waxes from the adaxial and abaxial surfaces of peach leaves varies considerably during one season's growth. Triterpenoid acids are major components 84–95% of the waxes from the youngest leaves but the proportions of these constituents decrease as the leaves expand. The waxes from the abaxial surfaces of fully expanded leaves consist primarily of hydrocarbons (C22–C34) and triterpenoid acids, whereas the adaxial surface waxes also contain large proportions of primary alcohols (C26-C34) and esters (C42-C52). The latter include sitosteryl esters of hexacosanoic, octacosanoic and eicosanoic acids. Variations were also noted between fully expanded leaves of different ages, the abaxial surface waxes of the oldest leaves containing the highest proportions of hydrocarbons, whilst the wax from the adaxial surface of the corresponding leaves contained the largest amounts of esters, sitosterol and hydrocarbons.  相似文献
